It is the four A state title game here.
This afternoon, it will be Miller Grove against Rockdale County and it will be game two of 11 here on GPB.
We welcome you to championship weekend here at the arena at Gwinnett Center.
And what a game we had open this thing off Fayette County over Forest Park by the count of 55 to 45 with the girls.
Now with the boys, we hope we have an exciting contest.
And to bring it to you here on GPB today.
Let's go down to courtside.
Dave Garner and Herb Weiner standing by.
Gentlemen, it is all yours.
All right.
Thank you, Gil, you alongside the elevator from Decatur.
We are ready to rock and roll again for a boys action right here.
Miller Grove and Rockdale County should be a good one.
Who are definitely going to be a good one.
My good buddy Rod Cole, who played at Rockdale County years ago.
Some of the fans may remember him and a Georgia bulldog.
It was a great player, he tells me.
Rockdale County is going to win this one.
Well, let's take a look at Miller Grove.
This is a team, of course, led by Tony Parker, who we've all been talking about.
And there he is a he can pretty much do it all here.
Yeah, in a state full of great big man.
Tony Parker's right there at the top with the best.
He's six foot eight and he 17 points, 15 rebounds a game.
If you remember at Big baby plays at LSU.
And the Celtics now are the boys with the self, a great hands and great touch around the basket He can do it all.
They're going to look at the starting five Marshall the senior right there Davon Pro boast is also a senior Justin Coleman in the starting lineup tonight for Henry Brooks and of course Tony Parker and Brandon Morris.
Nikki note as the other member of our team will join us momentarily.
But she caught up with coach Rahm White just a little while ago.
Coach made it to the big game.
What does it mean for you and your team to be here?
It's just a, you know, a summation of all the hard work these guys have put forth all year long to get to this point.
And, you know, we built this program on expecting to be here.
And it's not just a mere celebration is the expectation to be here.
So we expect to win and we definitely don't hope to win.
Thanks.
Coach White, in his fifth season with Miller Grove, has done a remarkable job as they go for three straight state titles.
All right.
Let's talk about Rockdale County here.
This is a team, of course, that's loaded with all kinds of talent, no doubt about it.
They have a great tandem of guards.
And that's going to be an interesting part of this ball game.
Bernard Thompson was one of them.
Absolutely.
Yeah.
Bernard Thompson is a player I love.
He does a little bit of everything for this team and he does it well.
He's six four.
He shoots free throws well, he rebounds at about seven a game.
He's 17.3 points per game.
He gets about two steals and he has two and a half assists.
So he makes everybody around him better.
Whether you look at the starting five for the Bulldogs from Conyers, Georgia again, Wilson, the sophomore is the point.
Kevin Ware is certainly a guy who stands out as a senior Thompson, Clark and center the rest of the starting five for Rockdale County comes in at 26 and five overall should be a great matchup.
We also caught up with coach Al Williams just a moment ago.
How does it mean for you and your team to be here?
I just feel that my kids have worked very hard this year and they deserve to be here.
But not only be here, they deserve to win.
What's it going to take for them to win today?
Defense, Defense and more defense.
Thanks, Coach.
Thank you.
Defense, indeed.
Could be the theme here tonight for Rockdale County as they try to basically put the clamps on Tony Parker.
That's going to be a tough, tough job assignment here tonight to see how they play him with a front end with they double him when he gets the ball.
He's an excellent passer out of the low post to find the players on his team for open looks.
They might try a little zone, but it's going to be interesting for Miller Grove because almost every time they go out on the floor, they are the tallest teams on the court tonight, not the case.
Henry Brooks is not going to play in this ballgame.
One of their six eight players and Rockdale County actually is going to have a hard advantage in this one.
So that's going to be a little different look for Miller Grove.
Let's talk a little bit about the Wolverines and Miller Grove.
What are they going to have to do Well tonight, Herb, in order to capture that third straight state title?
Well, they've got to pound it inside to Tony Parker and probably a little more than usual, because without Brooks in there, he's going to be the main man in the paint.
But they've got an all around team and as I said Tony Parker Payton had the shot he'll kick it out and they've got some guys that can fill it up.
We've also got to maintain that intensity, too, as we talked about right here, of course, as the number one team, they're at 31 and one coming into the ballgame here tonight.
Should be very entertaining.
Only nine schools have won three straight boys titles.
Miller Grove hoping to become the 10th here tonight.
Well, it's funny you mention that, Dave, because some people have said Miller Grove loses their focus from time and time.
And that's what happened in the region.
Playoffs when they lost a ballgame.
The only one they've lost this year.
But I imagine the state championship game can get you focus.
Absolutely.
Talking a little bit about Rockdale County, the Bulldogs, of course, coming into this matchup here as the underdog, but a team certainly capable of playing with Miller County.
They met earlier in the year.
What are they going to have to do?
Well, Kevin Ware and Bernard Thompson, six four, six five back court wingman for Rockdale County here, the keys for Rockdale County.
They really make this team go, but they've got sun house inside is six nine and they've got Darian Clark, who's a nice player.
He can take it out to about 15 to 18 feet and hit that midrange jumper.
Rebounding also going to be a key.
Well, there you have it.
The stage is set, Miller Grove in Rockdale County for the for a boys state championship.
We'll have the tip off for you just a moment.
You're watching the GHC State basketball championships on GPB.

Have you tried one of these?
So they and I can't believe we haven't done this before.
wow, look at that.
A bike jingle.
Do the check.
Let a good neighbor step on there.
Hey, guys.
do it again.
Do it again like a good neighbor.
Step over there in my office.
State Farm.
I think we're good.
State Farm agents are there when you need them.
Back here live at the arena at Gwinnett Center again, except for the tip off of this for a state championship game between the Miller Grove Wolverines out of Region six, the number two taking on the Rockdale County Bulldogs, the number one seed out of Region eight.
And the reason that Miller Groves a two seed is because they lost their only game of the year in the region championship against Southwest to cap but if anything her that game has been a wake up call for this Wolverines squad.
I think that's exactly right and you know Sean coach Justin Colvin's going to be starting and they lose six inches right there.
He's starting instead of Brooks for Miller Grove but can add a little quickness to their lineup.
Henry Brooks suffered a new sprain in the quarterfinals against Phil record.
They're going to look at the game officials there, Johnny Ball, Nakia Morgan and Chris Ford, The three inch drives working this game here this afternoon.
They've got a herb white with him.
We'll catch up with Nikki Noto in a moment's work of the game courtside with us this afternoon, along with the rest of the GPB crew underway here in Rockdale County, controls the opening tip.
Looking inside right off the bat at 15, Darrin Clark working underneath him, trying to rip it away.
Nice job there by Marshall to get his hands on.
Got a contact, but no call on the other end.
And the first points of the game belong to Miller Grove, a number 14 Davon, for almost back on the other end WHISTLE.
And you see Kevin Ware hitting the deck right off the bat should be a good matchup right here.
As we mentioned, the two played against each other in the opening action of the year way back in November just prior to Thanksgiving.
And of course it was Miller Grove winning that matchup that Rockdale, of course, is a much different team than they were at that point in the season.
There's a nice looking floater right there from Vernon Thompson and there you see Bernard Thompson and he's again about six four and he can put it on the floor and take it to the hoop where he can drain the three.
And Kevin Ware out here on the point can do the same thing at about six five and got the long arms Nice job defensively by C.J Wilson here at Wilson the five nine sophomore has one of the more undersized guys on the floor but don't let that fool you.
He is certainly an athlete and the Bulldogs open man to man and Deshawn Henderson is taking Tony Parker one on one looking inside Parker right here first time touching the ball blocked from behind by Thunder House and we saw Southern house really get it done in the semis the other night.
He even stepped outside a couple of three point balls here.
Very versatile for a big guy on the other end.
That one knocked away from Wilson and it will stay with Rockdale County.
The Thunder House is an athletic big guy really moves well he's got the long arms he's he gets up pretty quick.
Just the kind of guy that can give Tony Parker a little bit of trouble.
And there is summer house on cue.
Missed that one off the back of the iron, though.
The follow tough shot wouldn't go for Thompson and rolls out of bounds and it will be Miller Pro basketball Wolverines 2010 State Champs 2009 State Champs 13 and two playoff record under Shaun White.
Well, I called their last two state championship games and both times I said I wouldn't be surprised if they were back here again.
And so here they are.
Didn't take a singer to know that could happen.
Absolutely in the last match and try to become the 10th team in GHC history to three peat as a boys high school basketball champion and they may be well on their way.
The only team, of course, to beat Milton this year, who we'll see later on tonight, the five eight championship.
And you know, there is such a thing as a mythical national championship, which Miller Grove, of course, losing that one game may have hurt him.
Well, there you see Parker inside.
You've got to get a body on him.
Sunday House came to help out and you really can't do that if you garden Tony Parker because he's going to get the rebound if you go over and help and he's going to stick it back in So Sunday, he has got to be careful on that.
Well, the thing about Parker, too, is very intimidating looking.
I mean, you don't want to run in there on him at all.
That one in and out, back on the other end.
It wouldn't go center house, launch one from three point range mistakes.
He's got that shot.
He's got a nice stroke and shoots the ball well, especially for six foot nine.
So I might see him inside.
If they could get Parker in foul trouble, that would be big for Rockdale County without Henry Brooks right there.
We saw Brandon Morris on the drive through the foul and he may be one guy that we really talk a lot about here tonight.
He's a very, very athletic player.
Again, a good selection at the basket as Parker turned around and triple teamed even underneath follows his own shot stays with it and able to hit it though and I just found he had the rhythm.
Branden Morris, a65 junior, Parker also junior that was taken away by Marshall Marshall pull up jumper on the other end not able to get it to go and it's Kevin Ware of course on the floor lost the handle on it, kept it alive.
So we're certainly a guy we'll talk a lot about here tonight.
Three point shot on the way in.
It's there for Wilson and Wilson.
The only underclassman in the ten starters tonight, Davis and he's a sophomore.
Everybody else, a junior, a senior.
So the young guy out there drains one.
Well, that says a lot when you've got a guy that young in the start, a lot of potential, the kind of talent he is.
Here's Parker working strong underneath on the other end.
So far, the rocket has done a pretty good job on if again, that size, Anderson, is really that's a long arms.
He's giving Parker a lot of trouble and he's getting help.
Morris misses on the other end.
Tough shot right there.
But Thompson does draw the whistle and that's where Da Thomas again the six point senior who he focused on up top.
You're going to take it all the way.
You got to get the bucket or draw the foul.
Tough through the foul.
Parker's probably about one, four, six or seven right now.
He's getting a lot of rebounds.
They hadn't been able to stick them back.
Thompson knocks down the first.
He's got three and it really helps if you got him Got it Almost handle him one on one boy keeps those other guys from getting open when you come to help on Tony and they look at top six never second one all the way wouldn't go nearly kept alive though by Clarke but Parker able to pull it down and now pro propose to score the first two points the game dishes it over in the corner to Coleman knocks down the three remember Coleman again in the starting lineup tonight as he was in the semis in place of Henry Brooks that's one hitter he doesn't have in his repertoire is a good open look and he knocked it down.
Good defense right there.
Good hands by the big man Morris On the other end, Crowe goes back to him, kicks it out just inside the arc for Corbin.
He drains a double.
He's got five here inside the first 4 minutes.
Boy, a coach loves it when a starter goes down and a guy comes off the bench and gives you points right away.
You can't ask for any more than that.
No, he's averaging 6.7 points a game as a six to junior, but he's getting a lot more playing time here over the last couple of ballgames and he's already up with five points here so far.
Nine, six.
The advantage back on the other end, three point shot is there divine Providence knocks down the trey and that makes it 12 six Wolverines and jump off ball possession error will favor Milnrow this time to Rockdale County.
Going to want to talk it over and we'll go ahead step aside with him.
321 left opening period 12 six Miller grove we're back on the other side of the break.
Stay with us.
Try to TV timeout, I guess.
The 37 year old program really is what?
Come on.
Gp-B is made possible in part by supporters of the Georgia High School Association, including the following through Thursday.
This isn't Madison Square Garden.
These drills probably won't make anyone a number one draft pick, but these players are practicing for something important.
While they work on their jump shots.
They're also learning teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, how to deal with wins and losses, skills that will make them winners long after they leave The court.
Support high school activities in your community because when kids take part, they get set for life very fast.
Miller Grove with the answer they lead at 12 six here, with 321 left in the opening period, Dave Garner, Herb White with the keynoter courtside with us today, along with the rest of the GPB sports team.
They're going to look at the bond for almost 2 hours, five points here so far in this first quarter.
Get that big trade just a moment ago.
Yeah, he and Goldman have both hit a couple of nice outside looks in Rockdale County, doing a pretty good job limiting Tony Parker so far.
But the rest of the Miller Grove Squad and they're all talented at picking up the slack.
Well, you kind of pick your poison.
That's the thing.
Even if Parker does have the off night, you have the advantage of having guys like Thomas Marshall right here who were able to pick up the slack that were knocked away, but they're going to fall foul.
And that's Parker went back up with the Miss to be on Center house and Tony not a great free throw shooter at 55%.
That's an area he can get better at home.
But you got to remember, he's only a junior as well.
And there's a lot of these guys out here that will feature that are highly touted prospects that are still got another year of high school competition left.
And that's scary to think that he might even grow a little bit more than that six foot eight frame.
Yeah, he's got a nice stroke, nice rotation on the ball, nice arc.
And Rockdale County got to come down and get a good look at the basket and get a good shot or a foul here if they can.
Dave, it's you don't want to say you're in trouble early, but you don't want to get down big to this.
Miller Great game up and promise you that two for two for Tony Parker on that trip extends the lead out to eight at 14 six of C to field goals Miller Grove five of 14 Rockdale County just two of eight here through the first 6 minutes, Grove decides to go into a three to take a little time off the clock here at number 31 who checked out of the ball game for Rockdale county that last time out three point shot from the corner It was there for Wilson.
He's got six his second Trey here of this first quarter the youngster stepping up they needed that 114 nine ball game Crosscourt pass here look nice little move there along the baseline for four almost fast two more and what a start here for Davon provokes the six three senior back on the other end WHISTLE pass Thompson hit the deck Well Thunder house was out on the wing trying to guard Pro Bowls and as soon as he saw that the sun has tried to come to him and he went by him like a straight line was a good little stutter step right there.
I tell you what, that almost looked looked like a mistake there.
And then he got there.
He came to handle the ball.
But boy, that was smooth.
Thompson knocks down the first one they're going to look at.
Devonte proposed the younger of the two proposed again Devonte junior averaging three and a half points a game.
Thompson's very aggressive taking the ball off the rack, getting some free throws, making him six for senior two of two on that trip.
So 1611 back to a five point game in Miller Grove, one of a couple teams involved in the GHC state championships this year, they have a chance to repeat on the boys side.
Of course, we'll see later on tonight, Greater Atlanta Christian School Saturday in Macon will also have the same opportunity, along with Columbia on the triple A side, depending on what happens in the semifinals tonight.
Down in Make it on the triple play traveling ball there on middle ground and credit C.J.
Wilson for causing that turnover.
Man, he popped over there in front on the drive and caused the milagro player to walk.
And Thunder House has taken a blow.
And now it's going to be up there in part to try to handle the bigger Tony Parker on his own deal to grow back man to man.
As Chris Clark swings it over to Hewitt, Thompson with it up top.
but on the line here along to point shots off the mark by Wilson Rebound Wolverines look over here to Devonte proposed swings it inside That's 30 Tony Evans he kicks it out the baseline jumper right here logo for the back row holes And we've got a whistle inside here and a two shot foul that's coming.
It looks like looking like the Spurs never do it.
Well, Tony Parker is going to go to the line Velcro those.
But Palmer might have got away with that over the back on the shot right before that but they didn't call it in.
He's got to Parker with right around 50 scholarship offers as a junior is at the line here and misses on the first when he hit two of two on his last year.
If you look at Morris back in the lineup for Milagros the bond for all of us will take a seat.
They probably have more than that.
But once Duke, Ohio State, North Carolina in those kind of folks get after you, you figure what's the use exactly four points seven rebounds here already in this first half Parker two for two on the last trip over to them on this trip and a minute 20 here in the opening quarter.
Again Parker named a U.S. junior Olympian recently.
It's a big honor there for the big man and black for Miller Grove tonight, walking down right here, Coach Williams decided to slow things down just a little bit, call the play from the bench and they got the foul.
Good.
Speaking of the bench, well, how about these coaches here today?
I mean, they're decked out.
I'm not sure who I want to give the star points to either charm.
So they got it going on.
So does Al Williams.
There's a nice little inside move there to do it.
And nice pass by.
Kevin Ware took it to the rack.
When the defense came, he dropped it to the open.
Man, there may not be a guy better in the state of Georgia right now doing that.
And Kevin, where I'm drawing the tension off the dribble, you take a tiny three point shot for Devonte.
Most and both teams have knocked down his share of trace here in this opening period on the other end.
Where had it knocked away?
It looks like you're going to get Tony Evans for his second Rockdale County was putting together a little run there before that three and Kevin Ware and Thompkins continue to take it down the lane and at six five with the long arms, they're both tall enough to take it in there.
Among the top guys, Miller Grove, as you look at Kevin Ware averaging over 13 points a game this year, he has his first point of the game looking for a65 senior.
Devin will go out under house, will come back and they're going to look at where's the numbers this season.
He also has four rebounds and four assists per game to go along with it and it's going to be up to where.
THOMPKINS They're going to keep driving and getting fouled, where only a 57% free throw shooter, he needs to make them.
Tonight in the state championship game, Thompson did about 66% get an out for where on the second 1914 five point game here in this first period with time winding down as we hit the 32nd mark in Rockdale County with a5a2 playoff record the three point shot from Parker, There's too long, but how about the big man stepping out there, at least taking a shot at one.
wow, What a drive right there by almost tables and promos has nine points.
That's given the elder the senior with nine.
And here's a turnover the backboard violation right here so he'll be Milagro basketball with 6.1 on the clock right now he got a little bit of a hurry then you want to get a good shot there You down seven Now Miller Grove is going to get a chance to go up nine or ten.
That's all.
Coach Al Williams in his third season at the helm for the Bulldogs 73 and 16 at Rockdale County.
And as Coach Williams has done an excellent job with his golden providence and scores.
Well, when you play in a team like Miller Grove with so many weapons every possession is valuable day.
You got to make sure you get a good shot or you get fouled.
You can't go down and turn the ball over, take bad shots because all that talent will just keep you up.
Here's the shot at the buzzer in and out right here for Coleman.
And time will expire.
So at the end of 8 minutes, it's 2114 Miller Grove with this 40 boys championship.
Step aside and be right back for the start of corner to the 40 boys state title game right here on GPB, this time on Secrets of the Dead.

Miller Grove leads Rockdale County 2114 as we get set for the start of quarter number two from the arena at Gwinnett Center, Dave Gardner, Herb White with you.
If you know the court signed with us along with the rest of the TV crew.
Herb, at first period, again, Miller drove the start a little bit slow there.
Rockdale jumped on him, but it wasn't long before the Wolverines found a stroke.
Too many take the ball inside a little bit.
They haven't tried to work to their big guys hardly at all.
Maybe son to house inside and Darian Clark see if they can't get Parker with a couple of fouls on him again with Brooks out that could be a big factor Bulldogs finished last year 28 and two They were upset in round two against Hillgrove.
A lot of people felt like that.
Rockdale was certainly a team that should've could have would have last year been in the same situation gets Miller grow and that's true for Gary Clark inside the six seven junior out nice play missed a shot followed up got the rebound and they can do that they've got the size to get on the offensive board with this Miller throw ten right here again Parker working inside may have gotten away with the travel right there it puts it back up and in four to play He got a couple of the feed but they didn't kill the Parker with four points in the first quarter has six now as Hillgrove extensively 2316.
You talk about middle grove losing that game to Sapp lost a cab in the region championship.
This Rockdale team defeated Southwest a cab in the quarterfinals of this year's tournament bracket, and that shot had to put back a little bit short from Center House.
He's got to go a little stronger in the hoop there.
Here is Brandon Morris working against Darian Clark and a good defense right there by the Bulldogs.
BALDWIN Going to get caught for whistles.
That's the whole thing.
Got to be impressive with just Corbin in the starting lineup with Brooks out of course Henry Brooks, the six eight senior averaged 12 points a ballgame.
But that's a it's a tough 12 points to replace.
But Coleman has stepped out here and really made the most of his playing time the last two or three ball games dating back to really the first quarter of that quarterfinal game with Brooks went down.
Boy, just shows you the kind of program Miller Grove is with that kind of depth coming off the bench.
Bring it up, be able to bring in a player like Coleman.
And there's a nice looking bucket right there by D.J.
Ferrell.
Right now County brings in a sub and knocks one down.
Ferrell is a six foot senior loaded with upperclassmen.
This Rockdale County team player, You don't get to this level by accident, that's for sure.
And there's a lot of experience on the floor, a lot of athleticism.
You see Parker again going up with it.
He's just such a big presence.
He's got a big wingspan, as Bob Howard was talking about there in the pre game, and he's just so tall.
Players get a lot of range and very intimidating as well underneath.
Well summer house was frightening that they were able to get it over him and then Clarke fouled from behind I guess it was part but I don't know if Rockdale County's got some zone but they may have to try some at the well, see if they can't shut that down a little bit.
And you see Hewitt and Tom Thompson back in the ball game for Rockdale Park has already got double digit rebounds here in this early in the second quarter, and that's probably not good news for the Bulldogs.
Yeah, probably six or seven of those are offensive rebound.
He follows his own shot really well the second one on the way it's all or none at the line for Tony Parker either makes too or misses two he made two there and 2518 is the advantage for the two time defending state champion.
Here is Thompson who hits the three point shot, hits the deck, thought he had a chance for a four point play there for a moment, but nonetheless, a big trip for Thompson.
That's what they needed.
That was huge for Thompson and Rockdale County down seven.
Now they've cut it to four.
Need a couple of stops and Woodrow has been having their way offensively, but just a four point ballgame here with 6 minutes left in the half little three quarter court trap now by Rockdale County.
So they have got a little zone they call back man to man.
Now, Thomas Marshall, again the 511 senior averaging eight points a game the point guard and really runs the floor well in this little grove offense pull up jumper long range right here for provost is off the mark to follow though by Parker underneath and Tony Parker's in double figures with ten but you got to credit Brandon Morris for that one He got the in the original tip to keep that ball alive and here's a steal by Tobias lays it up underneath stays with his own shot kicks it out though on a turnover Calvin wasn't ready for it Rockdale swings it ahead here three point shot Thompson once again in and out.
Well he's got a pretty release on that three pointer bounce pass inside up and under wooden go Clark follows with the hook that won't go never underneath and finally a whistle as the Bulldogs that time outwork Hillgrove underneath Coach Williams exhorting his players to fall down when he gets it inside to so well.
Here's your chance to chat live during the championship games.
Go to GPB dot org backslash sports and shout high school basketball with the expert from score Atlanta That's GPB talk back slash sports where they got a foul on Parker then and good work on the offensive boards by Darian Clark and the whole Rockdale team and here's the score from Macon They've got the girls game semifinal final Dalton over Crisp county 53 to 46.
Congratulations to the lady cats Cat amounts out of Dalton, Georgia.

Meanwhile, the four and five state championships, both boys and girls decided here tonight in Gwinnett County at the Arena, Gwinnett Center, 2721 Miller Grove with that six point lead right now as we near the halfway point of quarter number two.
It's part of our live coverage right here on GPB Championship weekend, alive and well.
Wall to wall coverage and a little floater right there by Tony Evans.
He gets one to go.
Evans a65 junior records his name in the book becomes the fifth different Wolverine to do so here in this first half and we've got it whistle away from the ball.
Offensive foul leader was on clunk and bark may wake up and be in the morning of Rockdale wins a state championship but I guarantee you he's going to wake up black and blue.
And so because he's battling Tony Parker and given up about £30 there.
Tony 921 Miller Grove leadership will step aside and be right back with 402 left in the first half.

It's been a good first half of basketball here in this Corey Boyce contest between the two time defending state champion Miller Grove Wolverines and the Rockdale County Bulldogs, the region champs out of Region eight.
Dave, the difference right now is the offensive rebounding by Miller Grove.
I bet just about half their points have come off the offensive board, especially for Tony Parker.
And they've gone zone now.
They've got to find a way to get that defensive rebound.
If they can do that, they can play with this team, but they can't continue to give up those second, third shots in the head.
And Justin, Tony Parker getting them floater right here by Marshall is off the mark.
There you go.
One an out there's a good aggressive rebound by center house Thompson swings it out Here's where in the paint up here big block right there by Evans the put back is there any nice job for the Bulldogs there they answer the block back on the other end a near steal Marshall chased it down the ball was tipped and no backcourt violation it was divine proposed cross court swings it over three point shot Hold it all the way Knocks it down second three of the night for Justin Coleman.
He's got eight and that hurts when you go to the zone and it works a couple times and then they drain the three under 3 minutes.
Now in the half, we haven't seen a whole lot of halfcourt offense in more than about 15 seconds or so.
You see the three point field goals.
Miller Grove four of five, Rockdale 3 to 5.
So both teams shooting beyond the arc.
Well, and here's another three point shot that one from David jokes he just entered the lineup throwing it last time out Rockdale Villa with the offensive board kept the possession alive Tough turnaround right here and a whistle going to be called on Evans, who didn't like the call.
He felt like he had his feet planted, but a little bit of contact really at his feet planning.
And he had both arms planted on Darian Clark as he went up for the jump shot.
So I was one of the fish.
I was going to let that one go in.
Rockdale County needs to knock down a couple of free throws.
I don't want this thing to climb to double digits at halftime, Clark knocks down the first.
You saw some of the offense for Miller Grove.
The Grove, as it's affectionately known to the locals, California, Georgia.
There you can look at Clark's numbers on the season go that half points, 8.2 rebounds and a block a game for the junior.
Three points here in this one and able to get the roll on the second.
So 30 to 24, the Wolverines lead it 31 and one this year.
Miller Grove just truly remarkable.
Their only loss, as you mentioned, in the region championship game of all times against Southwest.
The cavalry was put out in the quarterfinals against this Rockdale County team.
Parker draws another foul.
Boy, it's great to just be able to take the bulk, receive it at the foul line, turn around, just throw it up somewhere in the low post.
No, Parker's going to go up and get it to the surface.
I could probably have a lot of assists that way.
Well, Parker has been feast or famine at the line.
He's either hit two of two or he's hit nothing.
And he missed all the first one.
There.
And you're going to look already a double double in the first half for the big man, Tony Parker, ten points does it rebounds and a couple of blocks to go along with it.
He missed a pair there you well he does a lot better when he gets a little knee bend on that free throw.
He kind of shot those straight legged and near smooth Thompson on the drive and able to get the shot to go.
This is going to be called on for the Bulldogs a little overshadowed this year because they lost five games but their losses were similar.
Great fans counting.
You had a chance to put out course of the semifinals by this Rockdale team who got revenge on them.
Two losses were out of town.
Their hero, South Carolina and Memphis Central out of Tennessee.
And then, of course, the other loss there was to Newton in overtime back in January.
That was the only loss since the year since the new year for Rockdale County.
So they have really been on a tear round.
About 14 straight.
Number 15 is going to be the tough one.
Well, if tradition holds true, Parker will hit the second and going to look at them.
Two Tony Parker, six, eight Junior, 19 points versus Jonesboro the other night in the 65 to 52 semifinal win.
And there it is, a dozen points here in the first half for Parker, and he's got to take a seat.
First 2 minutes left on the clock here in this second quarter.
The two minute warning, that's Will Parker will take a breather and yeah, boy that take the ball right inside right now, of course, Philip Grove is gone zone.
But I mean, they're going to try to penetrate that and get something off the dribble or look inside for the there you go, take it.
And right inside they're trying to attack Brandon Morris for almost inside there.
And a nice job indeed by Rockdale County trying to take advantage of number 32, being on the bench, catching his breath.
3426 Rockdale County goes back man to man.
Now that Tony Parker is out of the ballgame, kicks it out.
Ball movement right here Pull up jumper long range off the mark five Devonte Pro Bowls Thompson had it knocked away picked up and then on the other end right here baby Marion Clark puts it home A couple of big hugs now for Rockdale County.
We'll shift to the momentum if they can get another one or two stops and get this thing back about even, that would be a huge psychological boost for the Bulldogs.
They are just a six point game right now.
That might have been the play to spark a block with seven here in the first half.
Morris dribbling gets rid of it three point shot Calvin three ball corner pocket club it went a 11 first half points Unbelievable off the bench.
Shawn Colvin the hero so far 35 seconds time winding down.
Tough turnaround.
Clark's going to be short, Coleman out of there with it.
And now it's Miller Grove on the attack.
3728 is the score and it looks like the Wolverines are going to run it down here.
Play for the final shot of the half where Rockdale should have held and got a good shot there.
That was a big swing off the mark.
7 seconds.
Rock still has a chance right here and that's Thompson with it brings it out three point shot at the buzzer is here Wow C.J Wilson well in the half with nine points and that's what the doctor ordered as the Rockdale County Bulldog state with its six of number one Miller Grove at the break let's go downstairs Nicky Noto standing by Nicky.
Coach you've you've had a consistent lead this entire time but it has not been easy.
What's your game plan heading into the second half?
We just got to finish the job.
I mean, we've got to clean it up a little bit defensively, make sure we get a lot of getting our offensive rebounds, making the easy shots, and just, you know, use my experience and some of our savvy to finish this game off.
Thanks coach Charm wide team up six at the break We'll take a timeout be right back for you on your Tyree coming up at the break live from the Arena Gwinnett Center.

You see the numbers on your screen.
Miller Grove by six over Rockdale County.
We welcome you to as halftime festivities continue here at the arena at Gwinnett Center.
And with me are the outstanding principals at these two schools, Georgie Brown on my left, and of course, Matthew Priester of Miller Grove on my right.
I'm going to start with you, Georgia.
I'm ask you this.
You guys made a late run at the end of the first half, so you've got to be encouraged by what you guys are doing right now.
Yes, I'm very encouraged.
We have a strong team, a committed team.
They've been together playing for a long time.
So I feel very strong about our basketball program in tonight.
Well, we look at your sports program and clearly you guys are going in the right direction.
Talk about what you guys are doing academically.
Academically, we have a lot of strong programs and different programs going on right now.
We just had French exchange students come over that spent a few weeks with us and exchange our culture.
And so it was a nice, nice addition to our high school.
I'm going to tell the folks in addition to being an outstanding principal.
Georgie Brown is an outstanding mama.
We're going to bring her son, Allen, who's looking at our momma, looking at his momma, working on on television and what have you.
And tell us about that.
How are you able to get family time and being able to be a principal to Jordan?
I have a very supportive family that supports everything I do, and they watch a lot of events.
And I'm sure I'm sure Alan's a big router for Rockdale County, right?
Yes, he is.
Georgie Brown.
Thank you.
I'm a move over now to Matthew Priester and of course Miller Grove are up by six right now with the outstanding performer and Tony Parker.
You've got to be excited, though.
absolutely, Gil.
We are excited about what.
We do here.
That's pretty much I am all.
We're a really strong second half team and I hope we saw that on tonight.
We're really going to come out.
And that's a tribute to Coach White, who's been there for two and a half, three years.
We were trying for a three peat tonight.
And Georgie, I wish you luck, you guys luck, but we really want best tonight.
Talk to a little bit of trash, but good natured trash.
I want to ask you this.
You know, you do what you do athletically and you guys are succeeding.
What are you doing academically?
Well at Miller Grove, I like to call a local high school a jewel in and out.
It's located in Lithonia, Georgia.
I'm giving a shout out to the district is a very great and nice school.
It's pretty much about I think it's about six years old.
There we have what we call the career technology area built within the school where the students have the culinary arts.
We have one of the only barbering shops in a pretty much a state that is located in-house.
We have not engineering.
We have an engineer program on next year, but we also have a video recording studio and we actually run our own news program out of the video, our casting every morning.
But we got to get out there and check it out.
Absolutely.
We've got some great talent we can send to you for a job.
That's right.
They want on jobs.
And I want to ask you this, If they don't know about Lemon Grove already, they definitely know naturally, because it's always been a who's come to your campus to root for Tony Baldwin?
absolutely.
Tony is one of the most highly recruited kids that in the pretty much in the nation how he played ball over the summer abroad point and I think it was junior Olympics or something of that nature.
But Tony is also what do you like on the court?
He's a very humble kid and he's also a very, very memorable kid who was very supported by his family also, and friends.
But not only Tony's entire team, their brothers, and playing together for three or four years now, they are all in it together.
They went together tonight.
They got to win together.
They lose together.
They don't lose again.
It's still a second half to play.
Matt Priester, thank you.
Outstanding job in Miller Grove.
Thank you.
And of course, Georgie Brown and our outstanding son Allan on the other side of Rockdale County that's going to put a rap song to halftime.
Now let's go down to Dave Garner, who has first half highlights.
Dave, it is all yours.
Thank you, Gil.
It is effective as Tony Parker was in that first half.
Herb Absolutely.
It was Justin Calvin who had 11 points there.
Right now, let's go to the floor and we've got the coach standing by with us to throw it over to Nicky.
Coach, He told me after the semifinals that you gave your guys a B minus for listening.
Now, what did you tell them in there and what kind of report card are we going to see the second half for listening?
I'll give them a C minus for listening for the first half, I said that 32 was going to go with offensive rebound.
I said that he had to be touch, he had to be hit.
He had to be a he's a force to be messed with.
And they didn't touch him enough in the first half.
I believe they listen this half.
Generally they do.
We'll see what happens the second half.
Appreciate it, Coach.
Good luck.
Thank you, Nikki.
It's all about it's all about sender and receiver and hopefully they're going to listen there in the second half.
Let's talk about some highlights here from the first half.
Urban again, Rockdale County off to a solid start, but Miller Grove quickly found their stroke and they really beat them up inside.
Yeah, we were expecting that.
We said Miller Grove is going to try to dominate in the paint, and that's what they've done so far.
Tony Parker, again, following his own shot right here.
The outside shots were also working at times.
You see Parker continuing there.
Of course, Parker had a dozen points and a double double basically in the first half.
But Rockdale County, again, hanging close.
There's a three point shots there.
Again, C.J Wilson with nine, Bernard Thompson with eight points.
In that first half, you saw him hit the shot.
Here's one right here again from Wilson and then a good hustle play right here as you see Big Darian Clark going up with a two handed slam that really kind of got some momentum for Rockdale.
That right before the half, that big three point shot.
Really big, big one.
Yeah.
And there's you see the statistics from the first half.
The field goal percentage is not a huge difference.
Three point field goal is pretty close as well.
Free throws identical to number taken, second chance points.
Again, that's where we said that the difference was and that's what it is.
And also a few more turnovers by Rockdale County.
So also a key.
You mentioned Colvin.
He's already scored 12.
The man who replaced Henry Brooks was averaging 11 and a half, so he's scored more than the guy he replaced in the first half, which is every coach's dream.
Looking forward to a great second half.
Indeed.
We'll have it for you after the break.
Again, stay with us.
The for a boys championship, half two coming up from the Arena, Gwinnett Center.

No doubt about it.
March Madness.
And give Rockdale County credit.
Every time it looks like Miller Grove is going to pull away, they hit big shots when they had to.
And I like see Rockdale County slow it down a little bit.
You don't want to take away and Tompkins on the breakaway but if they don't have something slow it down and work it inside Darian Clark and and center house give them some opportunities inside again if they could somehow get Parker in foul trouble which they haven't been able to do, a few people have.
But you saw the difference in the Miller Grove team when he went out and a zone defense opened up by Rockdale County.
Try to feed it.
It's an early alley oop pass, just a little too tall there.
Devon proposed to have some ups, no doubt about that one.
But that one was a little too small.
I fell back on the other end here.
Here's where it was great.
Off the dribble, but ran right into a brick wall.
And Tony Parker, who not only offered the shot, but came up with the ball.
Yeah, give Parker credit.
He just held his ground, never left his feet and put £160 away.
Are going up against about 70 of Tony Parker.
It's like a receiver against an offensive tackle right there.
It's a turnaround right there.
Good looking shot.
Parker showing his versatility, stepping out, pop in the air, a little fade there and he's got 14 You have that one strips away On the other hand off the glass.
Nicely done.
And that was Thompson, who has his first points of the second half.
And he's in double figures for the Bulldogs with ten and C.J Wilson play Big is a sophomore for Rockdale nine points in that first half.
I look for him any time I found him open.
Marshall being guarded by Kevin Ware where a65 senior again averages over a dozen points a game.
Parker Great look inside to Morris who lays it in Brandon Morris his first points of the game, the six five junior, the recipient of a nice pass from Parker.
inside that one little contact there but no whistle.
Parker took one in the sternum there.
It looked like ball in his chest momentarily is grimacing a little bit slow to get back down on the other end.
Here's Morris kicks it out three point shot from the corner drains it The barn door opens with yet another Trey.
He's got 12.
He's a good looking ball player, always under control and nice looking stroke on that three point shot.
That one rims out Gordon after Rockdale on that trip, Marshall and Morris each with ten points in the city.
Final win over Jonesboro the other night which was a a close game by those two off the glass right there Morris That sneaky southpaw move over to kiss it off the glass.
His second field goal that's Rockdale County He needs a bucket right here far Kick it out where we'll reset up top Lost the handle on it there near turnover to Miller Grove averaging 71 points a game offensively when knocked away no whistle on the other end here is Marshall who lays it up and in Thomas Marshall with this first points of the ballgame I actually believe they allow more contact in high school than they do in college.
And every year I watch these games.
It's amazing to me what they let them do, but it's pretty consistent.
Yeah.
And Coach Williams was I think he thought the same way you did there.
He was played for an over the back there on that last one third.
Officials have done a good job here and kept it consistent.
And that's what you want for loss.

Yeah, that's a great job.
It's a good gig there in Clark Clayton in this case for the officials saying, look, you know, I had Stone Mountain coming over my back.
I'm home.
Whether you got I'm six, 7 to 10, but I can't handle that after the timeout right here again, 4835.
The score Miller Grove take control But there's the plus one for Kevin.
Where again Rockdale County with a bucket they almost had to have do they got it Kevin Ware with a nice drive to the hoop needs to make the free throw where has been held to just one point have won there in the first half.
Well that was his first bucket right there completes the three point play.
Couldn't have come at a better time for Rockdale trailing by 12 still here in this ballgame with 424 to play in the third quarter.
There's that three quarter court trap again shot too strong he kept alive Clark with the rebound Thompson on the other end lays it up and in with the left hand good looking drive there.
It's a sweet and sweet one We use both those hands taking it inside you young guys, it makes a huge difference.
Bernard Thompson with a dozen.
Now here's a little backcourt pressure right here.
Marshall wisely calls the time out here along the sideline 30 and avoids the turnover with 355 to play here in the third.
Miller Grove ranked number three in the USA Today poll at one point during the season.
Of course, with just that one loss against Millsap, with the Cavs in the region championship, the obvious of all this but off the charts just reminding them just in case they forgot this is the championship game but that little press by the Bulldogs that one 2 to 3 quarter court Trapp is giving them problems three or four times and what you got to do you know, the traps come in when you get near the sideline.
Somebody has got to be in the middle of the floor.
If you can get it to the middle of the floor, you're going to get a layup out of it.
Most of the time.
Wolverines put in play Marshall up top being guarded by Kevin.
We're and inside there trying to feed Parker but a good job there by Clark who got a hand on the pass they anticipated that pass they're going to try to throw him.
He's really an aggressive player.
I like Darian Clark a lot, six foot seven Junior So we're off the mark though.
But yeah.
Gary Clark If one guy can match Parker, I'm not sure he can match it, but as far as being physical with him and create some turnovers there, it would certainly be Darian Clark in this Rock Hill lineup.
He's really an aggressive player here.
You see the track and let's see if they can get it in the middle of the floor this time.
There you go.
Nice job that time.
Although that pass taken away, Wilson Ball still bouncing around in there.
It's topped up with it hurts teams mirror each other statistically somewhat far as scoring goes 71 as we mentioned from Miller Grove, 70 points a game for Rockdale County.
Defensively the Bulldogs allowing about 50 for the Wolverines, allowing 45 minutes to team fouls.
Now it gets Miller drove open out of nowhere at the long shots Nice aggressive move again by where keep taking it to the hoop make the free throws and again that that trap is working a little bit harder The center house back in 4 seconds for the Bulldogs Devonte Provost in for the Wolverines nothing else It makes it tougher for them to work the ball, come down, just throw it right in to Tony Parker anyhow.
Second one in and out.
You got 839.
He got a score usually to set up your press.
So.
trying to feed that ball inside.
Once again, though, Park stepped in front of it, square off the dribble penetration high off the glass one go Hewitt with the follow that would go center has lost the handle on it so I will draw the whistle two shots up coming forward two shots under house to space but there may be some peeled paint in that Rockdale County locker room because I tell you what, they have come out a lot more aggressive here in the second half.
Dave Varner really getting after it on the offensive boards.
Marshall calls for the foul right there.
The first one for center half off the front of the arc in center has a69 senior average and right at five points the game is more of a defensive player.
This bulldog lineup that he is a scorer, but nonetheless he can absolutely take it to the rack and doesn't mind stepping out beyond the arc and shooting as well and makes the second 41% free throw shooter Rockdale County.
Not a great shooting team.
Only C.J.
Wilson, really a good free throw shooter at 75% to 49 left in the third.
Byrd will step aside.
Be right back with the rest of the corner after this.
48 to 40 Miller Grove liaison.
Come on.

Temperatures supposed to warm up, will be a nice weekend, but still want to be indoors.
That's for watching these high school games.
You betcha.
And give Rockdale County credit again.
And Coach Williams making the adjustments at halftime.
Sudden they had to change some things up came out with that three quarter trap.
It's worked for them they've gotten more aggressive on the offensive board.
Let's go courtside and if you notice Dana by Nikki what you got, guys?
I was just standing right there in Coach Williams huddle and he is so passionate about this game.
You heard him talking earlier about wanting his players to listen and they were all ears in that huddle.
Coach kept telling him, guys, we got to go get it right now.
And most importantly, we have to protect the passer.
So look for that coming up as we approach the fourth quarter.
All right.
Thank you, Nikki.
You know, we heard from Sharp Winder that last time out of the huddle there.
Hey, guys, this is a state championship game.
And, you know, Coach Williams, also very animated talk to Nikki there just prior to the start of the second half and basically said, you know, we got to get a body on on Tony Parker physical with this guy, if nothing else.
Yeah.
And we talked about Miller Grove losing their focus at times and they seem to have done that there.
And that's why Coach White was a little bit worried in exhorting those guys during that time out.
Miller Grove is basically cruised through the postseason, although the other night against Jonesboro things were pretty tight throughout the ballgame with a late effort to secure the victory that would take it away there.
Marshall with it.
But of course, Miller Growth throwing up 101 points against Cedar Shoals in round one, knocked off previously unbeaten, the number one ranked Sequoia in round two.
That was a huge game and then, of course knocked off Billerica by 24 in the quarter finals and then in the semis the other night against Jonesboro.
Well, that was a big possession and to go by Rockdale County and and a great move by the Miller Grove Guard, number 3 to 2 Thomas Marshall to strip that ball from whereas he went to the basket did Rockdale had a three on one ball and they should have converted that one.
Wow what a spin.
Move the reverse lay up there wouldn't go try to keep it alive though and Clark will draw the whistle.
But what a drive, Kevin.
We're showing you his quickness there.
And once again, Clark showing his aggressiveness going off to that ball off the board.
Had it blocked.
You know, if he would have got that one to go where being, he certainly would have made a highlight reel, that's for sure.
Meanwhile, three point shot for our man, Justin Coleman.
I'll tell you.
Find him, Wilson.
He can stroke it quiet here in this third.
That's his first points of the quarter.
He had 11 at the break.
It's a big trade right there.
There is a turnover where they make all the whistle before the shot could have been intentional.
And that's what Coach Williams is calling.
I think he's right.
And all the officials are discussing things right here.
Look at the animation there.
You've got two animated coaches on the sidelines here tonight.
So they're not going to give him the intentional foul, but it will be will be Rockdale County basketball.
Well, it was an intentional foul, they didn't call it, but he definitely intended to foul on off the inbound where he shoots it over and the well I don't know you give you get the two that's for sure.
Don't know if you can give him the dunk but you certainly give Senator House the two there.
He's got five and it's just as effective on the scoreboard.
It's a one possession ballgame and the fans are on their feet here inside the arena, one at center, Rockdale County, has quietly made their way back into this game and pulled within a possession.
And now the pressure is on Miller Grove right here to answer the shot by is wouldn't go take it away of that one off offensive foul and back the other way that Rockdale County went back man to man They're changing their defenses and they've got Miller Grove a little flustered and you don't see that very often time out on the floor with one or two left in the third period.
It's a three point ballgame.
Number one, Miller Grove, 48, Rockdale County 45.
And Erb, you know, like we talked about a little bit off top here in the Keys tonight, sometimes Miller Grove does have that tendency to kind of wander a little bit, although they're usually able to get it back together.
But here's another situation right here where the Bulldogs are hanging around making baskets, the crucial times when they need to to stay in it as well.
Tony Parker hitting that inside bucket, I don't think since we started this second half, he said he did shoot a jump shot, but he missed another jump shot.
And again, it's just the change in strategy by Coach Williams and the upping in the aggressiveness and getting after it by Rockdale County is a difference in this half.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see Miller Grove go down low to Tony Parker the next time down the floor.
I know if I was coaching Miller Grove, that's where the ball would go.
So after the timeout, we're under a minute here in this third quarter great ball game it this for a championship to see Rockdale County a 12 run in the last 345 of this game has put them right back in in and now the Bulldogs are slowing it down here a little bit Kick ball by Bolden Rockdale County fans across the way getting fired up and if somebody was to drain the three about now, everybody over there would be standing.
Well, meanwhile Miller Groves fans are a little on edge here over on the visiting side here tonight, there's a take away Brandon Morris on the other end, going to lay it up and I'm going to draw the foul there.
From where?
Well, that's a good foul.
Good, clean foul.
It was up above the rim.
He blocked the shot, didn't let him score and make it make the free throws.
Yeah.
Made a pair of Morris.
boy.
Took one right across the face is a little slow to get up.
Yeah it's tough.
Certainly didn't look anything intentional from where Trying to swat at the ball but nice little right cross there.
I wonder after listening to the Miller grill principal and his guys when they get out of school, open up a restaurant and a barbershop in the same place, have a culinary school.
And also they do a haircutting the guy can make a pretty good living.
I found some hair in your food.
Well, exactly.
Yeah.
Got to be careful.
Brandon Morris Knock it down.
The first.
He's got five second one on the way here with just 35 seconds left in the quarter.
And regardless of what happens here, the final 34 seconds, we're certainly going to need a fourth quarter to decide this one.
It's not going to be easy going for Miller Grove in this one, but I'm holding one if I'm Rockdale County here, you want to go in, you get you get three, you're down one, you get two, down two.
But you don't want to give Miller Grove a chance to score again.
I don't think Bradley retreated to an excellent for a girls game a little while ago that saw Fayette County where there's a big shot for center half.
Well unless you get a wide open look from the head of the circle long two point shot 4947 Miller Grove puts up a shot that one short for Marshall Farley's 2 seconds left.
Clark going to throw it up at the buzzer.
It's going to be short, but we've got ourselves a two point ball game going into the final eight minute periods 4947 Miller Grove by two.
We'll take a timeout and be right back.
Fourth quarter from the Arena Gwinnett Center when we return.
For the next generation of telescopes, a new quest begins.
Can we see the invisible go back further in time, reveal mysterious forces shaping the cosmos.

I'm only going to try meth once, and I'm not going to be like that guy.
Look, I'm only going to smoke meth once.
I'm not going to be like that guy.
Look, I'm just going to shoot up just.
Just once, all right?
I'm not going to be like that guy.
I'm not going to be like that guy.
Come on.
I'm going to do my hands.
I'm not going to end up like that guy.
Miller drove by, too, at the start of the fourth quarter.

They have Ghana Herb White with its Nikki noted courtside with you along with the rest of the GPB crew and two point game here Herb you called it.
I tell you what this is a Rockdale County team that they knew they could play with Miller Grove and you knew they could play with Miller Grove, and that's exactly what they're doing.
Well, coming out of that timeout, you can watch the body language from both teams, Rockdale County bouncing around, really animated over there in the huddle and Miller Grove kind of with their heads down.
And Rockdale County thinks this is a ball game.
And you know what they're right and a turnover right there knocked away last touch by provost and so now Rockdale County will have a chance to tie it up or perhaps take the lead here as we open up this fourth and final period from the Arena Gwinnett Center, they're going to look at Shaun White trying to rally his troops, trying to regain that intensity and that focus.
And Justin Coleman in the starting line up tonight for Henry Brooks, who is out.
And that shot from Thompson off the mark Bullock, grow back the other way.
What a drive Marshall splitting two defenders the foul is there though nice job there by Brandon Morris he's starting to heat up seven points all here in the second half back the other way it goes well a big swing there from Miller Grove Got a good look a moment ago.
Bulldogs did that They couldn't convert and a little bit of a rush shot that time by where you don't want to fall down eight or ten again after building up and getting that close, you want to stay close.
Fourth consecutive semifinal for Miller Grove Wolverines turnover right there on the glass again, that zone press trip giving them fits and Rondo doing a good job of playing the passing lanes as well.
They need to run that offense, turn it over a few times and get a really good look here.
I wouldn't mind going inside Darren Clark right here and there is Clark.
He'll pull the trigger from outside, but he knocks it down at the free throw line.
He's got that shot there in Clark with points eight and nine on the night, 5147.
Rockdale again defeating Chamblee in round one Cass and round two southwest to cab, of course, in the quarterfinals.
The one team that beat Miller earlier this year.
Then the series the other night, a two point ballgame against Fayette County, who fell just short of joining their girls in the state championship game.
Of course, the Fayette County girls winning the four eight title earlier this afternoon against Forest Park.
But the effort, County boys falling just short to this Rockdale County team.
And here are the Bulldogs with a chance to win a state title of their own.
Just an outstanding job on Tony Parker.
This defense is really taking away his opportunities.
He will match up right there with he and Darren Clark right now.
Here's Marshall off the dribble, had the door shut foul there on Thompson who will try to help Devante for rather also in the back row both for their team for you don't have a problem with that as a coach good aggressive ball play going for the ball trying to get the steal Rockdale with just three teen fouls have a few to give here and grow at five.
They still have another one right inside.
Going to be way down scrambling going to be called on.
Morris Well, they've just got another grove completely out of sync.
And it's again, you can just see the aggressiveness.
The Rockdale players, they are right up in the faces of Miller Grove, making them earn everything.
Go across McEachern, as you saw coming up on the girls side here tonight, Lacrosse, one of those schools with both boys and girls.
And there's a couple of there's a nice little roll right there for Clark, who steps up and he's in double figures with 11 to kind iron and that's the guys you want to go to late guys it want the ball tied up 51 apiece inside Parker with position too strong and one for Tony Parker 16 points tonight for the big man A chance for three.
that's what you got to do.
And Darren Clark did everything he could.
He had great position defensively.
Almost got up.
You can see it here.
Almost got a hand on it.
But Tony Parker just too big and strong.
Parker now at the line right here trying to make it a three point game.
Got to make sure your box out here, if you haven't missed this one you don't want to offensive rebound turn it out so it'll remain a two point ball game 5351 in favor of Miller drew every possession Goldman Dave Chip, we're near the five minute mark in the contest three point shots under house and that one in and out.
Parker With the rebound and then a whistle and a foul one going to be on park it looks like he's wondered why he can text Tony Parker and they call a foul And Parker has come over the back a couple of times and they haven't called it.
But that one was right about five feet from the official and hard for him to ignore that one son has got a good look and he's got a good stroke from out there.
Just miss putting Rockdale County in the lead.
You saw Neville number 31 check back into the lineup for Coach Williamson.
Rockdale County got inside right there and a whistle and a foul there as Parker went up strong good clean foul That's what you want to do.
Don't give him anything inside.
Now.
Make the big guy from the stripe.
Okay?
Doesn't matter how hard you hit a guy, as long as you hit him above the waist in the upper body.
Don't cut his legs out from under him and never complain about Parker misses on the first.
It's not exactly hacky sack, but it's a smart play.
Yeah.
Now number 11 C.J Wilson back in the lineup.
This crowd has certainly gotten into it during the break between quarters.
Had they heard the battle of the bands, we had the battle of the crowds here.
They were both chanting the same chant, but just putting their school name in it, seeing who is the loudest.
And Parker for two missed the last three from the strike.
Radio Cannon needs to tie this thing up boy really.
Each year if you get close close you can never tied up or get the lead.
So again, you really want to get a good possession forward for a quality shot here.
They're going to put up the shot.
Andrew The foul against Morris.
He throws his hands up really surprised Thunder House is not a better at a 41% free throw shooter and he's got a nice looking stroke It really does hurt.
Well, let's see the rise to the occasion right here.
Excellent solid and then any bigger free throws in his career that needs to especially at this point in the game.
Still plenty of time left, but nonetheless, a lot of momentum swings right here.
Center House knocks down the first.
He's got eight in a chance.
Tie it right here.
It's for the first time in a long time it's been tied up.
Yeah.
Early first quarter, And there you go.
Knocks down two of two on that trip.
53, all with a four and a half to play.
They call off the trip is going to go straight man to man.
Don't want to give up any cheap layups here Morris with it fourth with seven points here tonight.
Going to put up a shot off the glass advanced Brandon Morris he's got nine killer drove back up to good hustle from behind right there as Kevin Ware brought it up the floor.
But Miller drove in pursuit, able to knock it away.
Well, you almost think those are lucky shots, but that's about the third one.
Morris has taken down this softly off the glass, so I'm going to give him credit for a nice move.
You know, this is Rockdale County's first official Final Four since 1979.
They won the state title back in 87, but later had to vacate it.
So looking for the the first state championship basically in the school's recent history here tonight.
Well, they turned themselves in on that one.
So Ben Stroud, unbelievable show of this quality character, that one.
But you got to wonder how many programs would do that nowadays, particularly, you know, college, high school, even for that matter.
What would be willing to do that.
But that was certainly a classy move.
Yeah, the young man I was talking about that from Rockdale came this is just great board work there by Rockdale County not to be denied again.
Darian Clark and Rod Cole, who signed up to the Rockdale County win tonight, played on that team at the University of Georgia and we talked about that quite a bit.
And the whole team was unanimous in agreeing that it was the right thing to do, believe it or not.
I mean, as much as it hurt to lose a state championship, we saw Clark's numbers, second one on the way he hit that one.
He's got it.
Does it.
We got a time out on the floor with 352 left in the game and it's a one point game.
Miller drove five one over Rockdale County again, The Wolverines try to make it three straight state championships, trying to become the 10th team in Georgia history.
The Tipp Boys teams to achieve that feat.
So they've won the last two seasons, but Rockdale County certainly giving him a ballgame right here.
Well, here is your chance to chat live during the championship games.
Go to GPB, brought back sports and chat high school basketball with the experts from score Atlanta high school That's GPB talk slash sports as we go interactive on your right here and allow you a chance to talk about these more games as they are here.

So I'm gonna be able to talk about the games with other fans.
It's just a great interactive feature that comes along with our coverage.
Yeah, I'm going on the side.
Watch this.
So it's a lot of fun.
I get a kick out of all the folks on there, what they had to.
And I'll tell you what, if I'm Rockdale County and I come down and run, run some nice plays, I believe I'm going to try to find C.J Wilson in the corner.
One time he has got that nice stroke.
We haven't heard from him in a while, but he hasn't missed many the night when he's been open.
Well, he or Corbin either one on the other side there.
Familiar groove.
Coleman's had three since the break.
He had 11 at the half.
Now Rockdale picking up full court man to man boy, they have changed their defenses up beautifully this evening, under 4 minutes, little drove by, one with the basketball Brandon Morris Again, nine points here tonight.
This is offense Pro Bowls two.
He's got a dozen in his own name here looking inside a one to look right there by Morrissey slams it home Morris with 11 on the other end three point shot off the mark by Coleman wouldn't go out of bounds last touch by Rockdale Miller Grove basketball Take another look there at that dunk with Clark with the help he left to Tony Parker but he didn't get there in time and it cost him and we got C.J Wilson the shot down here on the other end he didn't get a wide open look down but it looked good all the way to the line big possession here the Wolverines up three with last touch by Parker off his fingertips once again pretty good defense there by Parker step in front of that pass and they had to throw it around Evans Park and able to handle it Excellent defense Again, I really like Larry Clark.
He is really doing yeoman's work.
Download Garden.
Tony Parker one on one.
It's just amazing giving up about three inches.
It looks like to me and height and and again about £40 in weight but nothing in aggressiveness and heart so where we'll bring it up Kevin where again what's 23 points against Southwest to cap in this postseason of course a University of Tennessee recruit and a little bit of contact right there Wilson thought he got all ball well, he got off ball with his hand, but I believe he got it with the him a little bit to some well it was very little bit on the hip if he did get them there was before today was earlier so Atlanta right now is Marshall this is on the first one possession game trying to make it a two possession game.
This is a big free throw two and four for Marshall in this one.
The senior playing his final high school game and trying to win his third state championship.
And who's got something left in the tank.
See a lot of guys grabbing the shorts right now.
It's time to suck it up.
State championship on the line with two and a half to go.
Four point ball game two possession game.
Now as the clock nears the two minute mark, pivotal possessions right here for both teams, especially for Rockdale being down four not to make something happen right here.
The good news is you still have plenty of time on the clock.
You don't have to rush the shot.
That one in and out from where?
Everyone pointing in their direction.
And we got a jump ball called Possession Hero in favor of Miller, Oklahoma rule.
that one was down and end down in and came out again.
Tough break for Kevin where Well regardless of what happens here tonight Herb you got to just apply charm why did the effort this Miller Grove to you they started the program back in five with a limited varsity schedule and really got going with a full schedule in just 2006 just a few years ago.
And in that year, they went to round to the state playoffs with a 19 and ten record and haven't looked back since.
Well, it's tough enough to win one state championship.
They consider winning three in a row.
and that's a goal.
Ten.
Yeah.
I don't think that was going until Center House got a piece of it, deflected it down into the basket.
Now it's an absolute must situation.
Don't have to have a three but you got to have some points here.
Rockdale County six point game a minute 45 on the clock inside no whistle rolls out of bounds and it will be Miller Grove basketball.
I think that was the right call.
Yeah.
The officials asked for help.
Got some help.
Coach Al Williams will call a timeout.
Three second time out for Rockdale County with a minute 42 in the ballgame and Miller Grove up six and now they're going to change it to a full time out here.
And you see Coach Williams in his third season with Rockdale County 73 and 16 overall with the Bulldog program, a five and two playoff record, 14 straight wins.
Herb, as you talked about, and just a remarkable effort here tonight, regardless of the outcome.
Yeah, it looked like Darren Clarke backed in.
He was looking for some contact, looking for that big wall and Tony Parker and Tony Parker didn't come up and he just lost his balance and lost the ball out of bounds and got to score again from Macon.
We've got the Columbia Eagle has beaten or is up.
Yeah he's had a final note start of the fourth quarter okay Columbia 53 to 30 and the boys triple-A game from Macon to Columbia.
One of those teams, if they can hang on, which it looks like they may very well do, we'll have a chance at another another title there.
Back to back, another team looking to repeat.
Basically everyone, with the exception of single-A, with Wesley being out of the tournament, we'll have a chance to repeat on the boys side.
It looks like this year, if Columbia is able to hang on as well, this game is still not over.
It's a two possession ballgame.
And right now, Rockdale County has got to play some good defense.
And I say if you run down and get close two minute probably before a minute, you're going to have to foul.
But try to play some good defense.
If you can't come up with the steal or see if Miller Grove will take an ill advised shot and you can come up with a rebound.
Rockdale County Bulldogs again out of Conyers, Georgia.
Miller Grove out of life cornea the cap county represented here in this for a boys championship almost had the steal then C.J.
Wilson stepping in front last year Coach White of course state champs 2009 because White was out and it was coach Eddie Johnson who is now at MLK, who who led Miller Grove that year.
White, of course, five six years total.
As a coach, I certainly want to credit Eddie Johnson coaching as well.
Now in MLK with that championship season in nine with the same Miller Grove team thought about the three backed out though.
Well was the ill advised shot I was about to say and he didn't take it any other point in the game.
He he takes that shot but with the situation up six and trying to kill the hawks probably the right move and it's definitely was the right move not to take it seven one run by Miller Grove in the last almost 3 minutes.
So this game has led to this six point advantage for the two time defending state champions.
Here is Parker with the basketball working inside and it knocked away.
again, that's the right move.
Don't give him a chance to get it close to the basket fouling away from the for the one and one make him make the free throws Summer house pick it up.
His fourth pocket will be at the last minute venture at the free throw line tonight for the big balance.
Charles Moore, number 14 will step in for Rockdale County.
The five eight junior.
Let's see what he does.
If he gets the knee bend in here when he shoots, as he's still got the legs under him.
Because again, he has a nice looking rotation and nice heart on the ball.
There you go.
You almost know what he's going to make one before he ever lets it go.
Depending on how the legs move.
He's got 19 and it's there.
Two for two.
He's got 20 points here tonight.
There's Tony Parker, the six eight junior.
I guess he heard me.
Dave 6254 I believe he did get those needs a little bit, knocked him down like he's been there before.
But it's tough to bend those days in the last minute of an up and down ballgame.
But he's a big, strong guy and give him credit for stepping up there and knocking those two down.
And he looks like the kind of kid that can shoot 75% from the free throw line go.
If he gets to doing that, look out.
Watch out for him.
On the other end is Bernard Thompson doing a64 senior playing his final high school game there for the system to come back to school substitutions in the arena.
Number ten, Christian Houston, who we saw a little bit in that first half in for Miller Grove maybe to look at Thompson's numbers tonight 13 points four rebounds for five at the line, make it five of six for Bernard Thompson.
And now 14 still not over with yet.
A minute left, though, and Miller Grove going to slow down here a little bit, perhaps make Rockdale County come out fouled here inside a minute for maybe not that one knocked up in the air though.
And Kevin we're waiting to see that you can hear it all the way over here.
But again, a good foul.
Nothing wrong with that one unless Tony Parker takes the area where he's got to have that mentality that Shaq does and the guys in the NBA.
Howard, man, you're going to get you're going to get hammered when you're that big and strong and just got to let it go and step to the line and make him and o unable to get the role on that one.
Charles Moore back in center house also back and forth Bulldogs in control.
And number 30, Tony Evans for Miller grocers Parkers numbers again, 20 points, 15 rebounds, 50% from the charity stripe here tonight.
And again, we're going to see this guy next year as a junior, a miller Grove team that very well could be on the way to a fourth straight state championships, depending on what happens here tonight.
21 points for Tony Parker.
Just about to mention that there's only been two schools ever west over in Lanier to win four state championships in a row.
And they're going to have a shot at it if they win this way on Tony Parker's back, you can bet on it.
Absolutely.
Could be chasing history.
Brandon Morris is also just a junior and Justin Coleman to come off the bench here tonight.
A starting in place of Henry Brooks is also a junior as well.
So a good nucleus of this team is going to return next year or they will do it.
While Rockdale County also has some guys coming back and both schemes basically going, both coaches here, going offensive defensive substitutions here in the final minutes as well.
You got to keep going because if you saw that Virginia Miami game the other night in the ACC tournament, seven point lead going in, what, 37 seconds or something.
So we got 45 six.
Anything could happen that won't help.
Nope.
Got to hit those, though, that's for sure.
Alan, take it away.
Nearly take it away.
Ball loose on the floor, Tony.
And we do have a timeout called by Miller Grove, a heads up timeout with 39.2 on the clock.
Wolverines lead it 6356 and you got them thinking they could just take care of the basketball.
Right now they're in good shape.
But you know, Rockdale is going to come after right here and they've been pretty successful.
Great turnovers, Nice job by C.J.
Wilson.
They're laying in wait, almost got the steal and he's a sophomore.
He'll be back a couple of years and boy he's going to be a good guy before he's done so that's going obviously we're going to look at it right here scrambles to the loose ball in here.
Let's go back to your TS there at the beginning of the game for Miller Grove.
You know, points in the paint free throws and limit the Rockdale County guards a little bit.
Flip side of that you know where needed a big game here tonight they had to rebound and they had to limit Parker who in your opinion has done the best job of that well so the scoreboard says Miller Grove a little bit better.
And you know, was that first half when Parker dominated inside?
That really was a difference in this ballgame.
They built that big lead up.
Now Rockdale got it back down, but it takes so much out of you when you come back from a lead like that.
But both teams have done pretty well as of doing what they needed to do to win this ballgame.
Miller Grove's just done a little bit more Wolverines fight just to get the ball in play here.
C.J Wilson defensively stepping up and Clark picked up his foul That's going to be five on him so Darian Clark will foul out tonight with a dozen points the six junior will be back next season and a very impressive game going up against one of the best in the state and arguably one of the best in the country and Tony Parker.
Yeah, I think played the whole 32 minutes well, except for 34.1 seconds.
And he played hard really, really like his game.
Wow.
Houston, here at the line for Miller Grove, the 511 junior, averaging a few points a ballgame, knocks down his first point, becomes the eighth different Wolverine to record his name with the Scorebook tonight and congratulations to Miller Grove no doubt about it.
And also Rockdale.
And again, you got to say Coach Wilson did a heck of a job putting this team in position to try to win this game by making some adjustments in the half and getting his guys fired up to come out and give an effort here.
Miller Grove, just a really great team, no doubt one of the top three or four or five teams in, not only in the state but in the entire country.
Well, one thing's for sure, Miller Grove going to resemble their uniform color, a little black and purple, maybe tomorrow morning whenever they wake up, because this has certainly been a physical basketball for both teams who have played well.
And it hasn't been easy.
But Miller Grove has certainly done enough to win their third straight title, and now they're starting to feel it over there on the bench.
Take your hats off to the Bulldogs from Rockdale County.
Certainly nothing to be ashamed about here tonight.
Folks should be proud in Connors, Georgia, this evening.
That one off the back of the backboard.
They're trying to instill that there.
So that will be a turnover.
Well, you get a quick inbounds pass and a three here is still possible.
And they've I've been in that position losing the state championship game and it's tough to get perspective for quite a while but eventually comes around and if you know you just look back and say, hey, it's a great job, just get in there.
And we've beaten by a great team and we gave it everything we had.
And if that's the case, then you can't hang your in the grove not taking anything for granted.
Playing good defense is a big three point shot by Darius Mitchell, who just came into the game a moment ago.
The six three sophomore.
There's another future player that we'll see step up and worthy Arundel County Bulldogs knocks down His first points of the game becomes the eighth different bulldog to score tonight.
Well I try to find some way to foul Tony Parker.
He may be taking the ball out of bounds, but if he's not, I'd make sure I grab it and let hopefully officials see you grabbing his shirt or something, try to put him on the line because you want a foul right away.
There's still time for this.
Tony Parker with 21 here tonight, Brandon Morris with 11 four, Miller Grove, Davon Provost with a dozen, and Justin Coleman with 14.
The double score leaders there, Rockdale County, meanwhile, with 14 from Bernard Thompson and a dozen from Darian Clark, also nine from Wilson and nine from the Sean Thunder House.
But you don't really have time to start thinking about who all you want to foul.
But Brandon Morris, who was in the game, also has only a 50% free throw shooter.
So if he can foul one of those two big guys, can't tell the referee you're going to do it.
But I'm going to do it right away.
Maybe even before the ball gets inbounds and a two possession ballgame right here.
But it's Houston is able to knock down a free throw like he did on his last two there.
And that'll basically price it.
You'd have to think making it a three possession game is all the crazy things have happened.
So Houston, a 68% shooter, although he's a guy that comes off the bench, he probably hasn't shot a lot of free throws and he hadn't shot any wins than this first one on the way.
And it's their three points for Houston.
I'll have one more.
So, Henry Brooks, as we mentioned at Atlanta, we do want to mention the three nine GPA, Ivy League prospect, their Henry Brooks, the six eight seniors, and they certainly want to wish him a speedy recovery there.
He's just been hobbled through this postseason.
Unfortunately, we were not able to see him tonight here in the state championship.
He's on the bench, of course, with his team here tonight in warm ups here in the background.
But 3.9 GPA, you can't say enough about the term student athlete.
And Brooks certainly epitomizes that.
Yeah.
And I've I think Tubby Smith's got a strong interest in him up at Minnesota here and it is now a 7.3 possession game and that's probably just going to do it.
Houston trying to stay perfect at the line here.
Instead be three of 416 seconds left, that one taken away.
was on the line there almost as he intercepted that pass for 11.6 on the clock.
Reaction, of course, immediately following this one right here Cody presentations as well.
That one partially blocked by Thomas Marshall, just 5.7 remaining on the clock only on one final feel sorry I won't be here following the bowl game for a trophy presentations live here at the arena Gwinnett Center and what a game it's been Both teams playing their hearts out but Miller Grove doing a little bit down the stretch as they did the other night against Jonesboro in the semifinals.
They won that one, 6552, maybe a little bit closer here in this ball game.
And nonetheless, Miller Grove got a three peat and that's you know, they did a good job on Tony Parker.
I thought Brandon Morris was really the difference for Miller Grove in the second half as far as offensively had about three big buckets.
When Rockdale County had really closed the gap, it looked like they might even take the lead if they could get a stop.
And Morris three times went in and took it to the hoop and kissed it off and one time had a nice assist.
So he did a nice job there in the second half for Willow Grove.
Richard Slater into the lineup for Rockdale County here in the final seconds.
Bobo's misses on the second one, their final seconds winding down here.
And that will do it for the third time in three years.
The Miller Grove Wolverines have captured the state championship.
The boys class for a GHC state basketball champions are from DeKalb County.
They are the Miller Grove Wolverines.
6759.
The final here tonight.
What a ball game by both sides.
Certainly.
Congratulations to coach Al Williams and Rockdale County on an excellent season.
But in the end it's charm White and the boys from Miller Grove to repeat once again, as the sign says they're from the Miller Grove cheerleaders.
It's a three peat for the school from Lithonia, Georgia.
Well, I'll say it one more time.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them back here again next year.
Dave, We'll take a time out.
Be right back.
Stay with us.

Miller Grove is now a three time defending state champion.
They captured the four AA boys title with a 6759 win over the Rockdale County Bulldogs.
As you see the trophy presentations midcourt here live at the Arena Aqua Net Center.
Dave Gardner, Herb White back here with you.
Nikki Noto courtside as well, going to join us in between games and they're going to look at the runners up from Conyers, Georgia, here tonight, Rockdale County, just what an effort by this Bulldogs squad.
Well, they're like a team full of insurance salesman.
They just won't leave you alone, Dave.
I won't take no for an answer.
Absolutely.
And of course, they played a very good ball game here tonight.
Closed their out, got some big efforts.
And now the championship presentation for the Miller Grove Wolverines, their third straight title, of course, 2009 Chance 2010.
And now to Dr. David Withrow, our P.A.
announcer for the presentation.
Thank you very much.
Congratulations to the Miller Grove Wolverines.
The back to back to back state champion and class foray in the state of Georgia.
Joining me now, the executive director of the HSA, Dr. Ralph Suarez.
Milagros, congratulations.
You're great champions.
I want to bring our representatives from State Farm in to make the presentation on behalf of State Farm.
I'd like to present the 2011 championship trophy.
Milagro Yes.
All right.
Congratulations to the Wolverines alongside Coach Harmon White.
Coach, the three piece suite is always very sweet because it's an indication of how hard these young men work.
They work hard throughout the year, putting all the blood, sweat and tears and we call this pay day because we put in all the work.
Now it's time to get paid.
And that's what this day is all about.
We want to thank the good Lord for blessing all these young men, to give them the grace bars do those days in which they do 32 and won an outstanding season.
You are ranked number one almost all the way.
It's got to be great to have that kind of target on your back.
Pull off the win.
Yeah.
These kids, they welcome that.
We welcome that.
Because to be the best, you've got to play the best and that's what it's all about.
And so we took it on all year each night we stepped into the gym.
We knew where everybody was out there, so we took it all as a challenge.
And these young man step through, shine through coaching staff, everybody, administration, school, everybody did a great job.
Thomas Marshall, one of your seniors and all of your seniors happen to be very proud.
Yes, they've been with us.
And this is their third championship.
And they I knew, but just their leadership.
They took us to where we had to go.
And I'm just proud about each and every last one of our.
I will thank you very much.
Congratulations to you.
And I just want to say thanks to my wife.
She's been ill all week, but she stayed keep it together because she knew I could be ill.
So I just want to tell her I love her and tell my daughter I love her too.
Well, and she's feeling pretty good.
You gave a pretty good present tonight.
Yes, sir.
I congratulate the Milagros Wolverines, the class for a state champs.
Now back to Gil Tyree.
Mark, thank you.
And Shawn White definitely knows what's up, Greece, guys.
He credits his better half with his victory here today.
And with me right now, Nikki Noto, my partner on GPB Sports.
And showing up 44 minutes inbound from start lineup.
I must know that when they first you had a chance to be courtside and that's basketball game, you had a chance to watch Miller Grove do the back to back to back and then go.
I tell you what, both teams, they deserved to be here.
You could see the passion in both coaches that filtered out through their team and also Coach Williams.
He told me that, you know, both of these teams, they know each other so well that he couldn't have asked for a better matchup.
And as you could say, unfortunately for Coach Williams, it didn't work out in his favor.
But nonetheless, we got a three peat that we just lost.
And of course, we'll probably see Rockdale County back next year.
But Bob Harbaugh know, just to piggyback off of what Nikki said, you know the significance right now of back to back to back I know Herb White talked about this in the broadcast, that only two other teams have done the four peat think they have a chance to add themselves to history next year.
Well, it helps when you when you start winning.
And with Tony Parker being a freshman, he's now done it three times and.
He just carried the team on his back.
I thought the guards really helped a lot.
But at the start of the game, at the end of game, they watched their superstar taking them all the way.
All right.
Let's take a look at Game three of championship weekend here at the Arena at the dead center.
You're going to have Norcross against McEachern.
And of course, you've had a chance to get up close and personal with.
Norcross and Angie Embry.
I did.
And you know, Bob, you mentioned Superstar, but he was talking about Tony Parker.
But but guess what?
We have another superstar that's about to hit the court.
Her name, Diamond The Shields, only a sophomore.
Coach Embry She told me that this team is full of young talent.
They've had a lot of girls that have transferred in.
And when I talked to the girls, they said that, guess what?
This pace of play is much quicker than the private schools that they went to before they came in.
And of course that'll be the five girls championship, you know, and Nicky talked about Diamond DeShields being a sophomore, a sophomore and already being compared better than Maya moore.
Well, I don't know.
She's better.
Her own coach says it's there's better than Kirk kind of saying that they're pretty darn close.
And that's about the biggest compliment you can give the diamond to.
SHIELDS It's very interesting to the next two best players on the team for Norcross come off the bench.
They're their sixth and seventh players are literally their second and third scorers.
And this Amby is going over to Wake Forest to play in this and the other one's only a sophomore so you'll see their bench come in early and often and really lead the team.
The other superstar for Norcross is their coach.
She did coach the aforementioned Maya moore.
She's won four state championships at two different schools.
And I think the real interesting thing, she's been in the state championship five times this over year six.
She's won four under five and one of the classy ladies in engineering.
But you know, we look on the other side.
MacEachern Bob Harper, what do you see with them?
A tall road ahead of them.
This the first time that a Cobb County schools been here since 2001.
It was kind of guaranteed they'd have won because they won the Cobb County State championship because in the quarterfinals there were four teams from Cobb County, all in the upper bracket.
So one had to get here.
So.
MacEachern It's already won the Cobb County championship by being here and unless they play an outstanding game, I think that's what they're going to be most proud of this year.
They've got a tall order and they're going to hang out against Norcross tonight.
Mickey we've had a wonderful championship weekend so far.
The winners today, of course, the first game, Fayette County.
And then just a moments ago, Miller Grove take in.
You've had a chance to be on courtside.
Give us a feel of the atmosphere down here.
man.
Go.
I tell you what, all of these schools, I think the thing I don't know if they have an email alert or something, but everyone is here from their schools.
I mean, the fan section, if that is any indication of who is going to win, I mean, I just wish I was a part of it because they have been so loud that I've been a bigger factor in the ballgame.
Well, I'm telling you're doing a great job on the sidelines.
Well, more to come here at GPB's coverage, exclusive coverage of state championship weekend.
We'll be right back on GPB after these important messages.
