It's the 2008 for a State Football Championship tonight.
It's the 13.
And one Tucker Tigers, out of region, 6 taking on the 13 and one Maris Quarry goes.
Also out of Regents six, both teams with plenty of history in this storied rivalry.
And, of course, tonight, it's all for a state championship.
Both sets of fans making their way from DeKalb County, and they are set and ready to roll and a good evening, everyone.
Dave Garner a long sigh.
Former Georgia Bulldog, an NFL player, DJ Jones and I tell you what a great game here tonight, Tucker and Maris going at it Tucker, of course leads the all-time series but DJ early the season Marist had their way with the Tigers they did, but I guarantee you tonight, it won't be the same team.
They've had an opportunity Tucker has to work their way since that just does September defeat but they've gotten better and better each and every week and if they play up to their capabilities, we're going to have one heck of a game.
Let's talk a little bit about the Tucker Tigers they've really been dominant throughout this postseason.
Even as they're led by a pair of thousand yard rushers.
Absolutely.
The kids you see on the screen there.
Number one, Jonathan Davis is an outstanding athlete.
He's small in stature, only 59 190 pounds, but he packs a punch and he's a great two-way player for the Tucker Tigers again, he over 1,100 yards and over 114 tackles as middle linebacker on that very, very fast, Tucker defense in this kid here.
He's the guy that can take it the distance.
It's draining Calhoun, he's another 1100, young never.
The yard rusher on that team.
And again, this kid here, could be a Difference Maker.
If he gets off in early going early, it could be a long night for the war eagles to fun.
Jersey numbers to watch their indeed one and twenty three.
Now of course Franklin Stevens is the head coach of what a job.
He has done in two short years with the Tucker tigers and we caught up with Coach Stevens earlier in the week to talk about the gameplay into what we can expect from the Tigers.
I'll fastly, we are wing-t team, we employ three bags.
Sometimes we'll go with a too bad scheme but it's a wing T traditional green tea, time team will use multiple formations to try to get people out flank.
And other thing we do is try to get the ball into play makers, hands with, Excuse me, through a variety of ways.
Those play makers are Jonathan Davis, our fullback great Calhoun.
When I had backs, the other halfback is dry, Devon Scott and Chris back at quarterback.
All those guys to get several touches on the football.
Try to make something happen with an offense for us defensively.
We were 33 team but will show multiple form.
Confronts, sometimes it'll be a even front.
Sometimes it would be odd 50 look.
But basically we were 33 team employing three defensive linemen, three, linebackers and five DVDs, coach Franklin.
Stevens, of course, the 2007 DeKalb County coach of the year.
I DJ, let's talk about the merest war eagles.
Certainly no.
Stranger to say title, football games.
Tonight will be their 10th and they're coming off an emotional, semi final win last week.
Against Rome.
Absolutely great.
The mayor's program.
And of course, they had the emotional win last week, but you know what?
The guy right here, Kyle farmer.
And this guy is a manager of that triple option.
It takes a special guy to play that position.
Cow farmer is the guy that understands and has a great football IQ.
And he's if he plays well tonight, obviously, he's the Difference Maker.
On the offensive side of the ball.
When you talk about Matt Connors, he's a big strong fullback and he's the kind of guy that they need him to hit up inside and if he's running and on his game.
This could be a long night for Tucker.
Big running game there indeed.
Well of course Alan Chadwick, 24 years, as head coach 32, overall has done a remarkable job.
Here's coach Chadwick with what we can expect tonight from the war eagles on offense.
We're going to run the option of going to run a number of different ways trying to mix in all the different options between fullback quarterback in Pitch depend on what the defense is going to give us on defense.
We're going to run the 43 going to be attacked.
Try to play down, he'll be aggressive try to stem a lot and try to be on the move and put pressure.
On the offense, Alan Chadwick, of course, 32 years overall, 24 is head coach, 15 region championships, I'd say that's been pretty successful.
Absolutely, again, everybody around the state, knows about these, this great team.
And what?
I'm looking forward to a great football game tonight.
Well, there's two other members of our team here tonight, Jon Nelson and Jared Oliveira on the sidelines.
Let's start with John with more on Maris John, what do you got?
Thank you Dave, good evening to you both Alan, Chadwick knows that this game will be a game of tempo and who can control it.
If he has his way this entire evening will be Three and a half yards at a clip on this particular Turf.
They came into this game, a little dinged up, so they had to dial it back at practice a little bit this week.
They knew that this region game against Tucker was going to be the big story line this week.
And like you said, DJ they know that they're the team that they faced earlier in the year is different than the one that they have here.
Now a lot more athletic as well.
That's the mayor storyline.
Let's send it over to the Tucker Sidelines at Gerald olivieri.
John now, although mirrors beat Tucker earlier on this year.
Tucker has won six out of the last eight matchups.
Now, Later this year, when the Tigers lost that was the first time they had been shut out since 2001 coach.
Stephen says, he plans to try and get the offense going early.
He also stressed to his team that they can't turn the ball over and they can't have a lot of penalties like they had in the game back in September.
Lastly because they both have video, he feels that both teams should be well prepared for this game back up to you Dave.
All right.
Thank you.
Gerald.
That's our team here tonight.
We were looking forward to it kickoff of the for a state football championship.
A trip between Marist and Tucker is next from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
This is Georgia, public broadcasting, your PBS station Friday Night Lights here inside the Georgia Dome, as we get set for kickoff Dave, Garner DJ Jones with you Jon Nelson Jared Oliveira on the sidelines here tonight, along with the rest of the Georgia public broadcasting.
Crude.
We welcome you to our live coverage right here on GPB, of course.
Game two on the night, three more tomorrow.
Ricky peacock boots, it away, Marist winning the tossed and they will have it on offense first inside the five, the return.
Right here, watch out big room, across the 30 and there go, the war, he goes all the way out to the 40, That's number 21 Crawford with the return right there.
Bernard Crawford check that number 21, Patrick Sullivan for the war eagles and Maris with a great field position there.
You look at cow farmer, his numbers, this year, 40 of 77 7, And 24 yards, six touchdowns against three interceptions.
The big senior, of course, winning that job two and a half games into the season and we'll have the rest of the offense for you.
Coming up.
For Eagles First and Ten Tucker 78.
Guys right up there on front and the give a straight ahead of that big fullback Matt Connors.
So we focused on up top of the pregame there, you get a look at the offensive line right there.
Fan for the center Haifa and nor do the guards Williams, and Dan the tackles and you see the rest, their soul oven and McNerney.
The half Baxter, good Connors would big fullback as we talked about almond and Herman again.
Almond with the Round play of their won the game last week on the final play on 4th down against Roman that emotional semi final win.
Looks like Marys and the quarterback Kyle farmer as I told you before, obviously, a great manager of that triple option they're up.
And they're trying to set this Tempo here, early game 27 on first down second and three right here, once again, double slot, Connors two yards back behind farmer and they'll give it to Potters fighting, great, second, and third effort, it's gonna be right at the marker.
DJ a gain of about two and a half almost three yards.
Maris is coming out and going right after the Tigers and I Know It Up Front.
The Tigers defense as one of their better parts.
Are you gonna look after starting lineup across the front of good linebacking Corps with Bryson Harris and Davis.
And he also see the secondary there and the ponies Lee and Crawford will, cause a lot of problems there for tucker up front first and ten back-to-back rushes by Connors Have the gift, straight ahead right side.
Connors once again, seven more yards DJ.
And that might be the theme here tonight for the war eagles is a steady dose of Matt Connors and cow farmer.
That was really the story of the first go-around earlier this year between the two.
Absolutely stop was made by Lorenzo Bryson, but here's you see it Maris is going right up in the gut inside there.
What is supposed to be the strength of the Tigers defense?
And of course, the Tigers had been able to stop them At all here early.
And it looks like a Timeout on the field right here, as you see Connors coming over to the sideline being congratulated by his teammates, but really those offensive linemen.
We can't let those guys going notice DJ because they've opened up some big holes here and the first couple of minutes.
Well, we need viewers like you to help support the live broadcast of these games.
You can show your support by becoming a member of Georgia public television.
Simply call 10 the numbers on your screen or visit our website at gpb.org and thank you very much for supporting Georgia public broadcasting.
Always a great weekend here at the Dome, of course last year and years past semi finals.
But this year DJ the finals ride here live on GPB and what atmosphere it is great to tell you what folks have come out in numbers here.
And I know there wasn't Some concern.
But you know what, this is state championship football at its best.
so, after the timeout right here, Did Brian Lamar the defensive coordinator for the Tigers Gathering.
His troops on the far sideline.
This time off the option right here.
What's a what that timeout, serve the Tigers.
Well DJ several Tucker players in the area, including AJ buye number eight, who were going to talk a lot about here tonight.
Take a look at the way he's coming up to contain here.
Buye coming up in your left side of the screen there, he's coming up to contain and that's what's going to have to do.
When you get that triple option out on the edge, you got to be disciplined.
That's the whole key to this Tucker defense tonight.
They have to stay disciplined.
Maris is not a big team and none of the players are going to jump out at you physically, but these guys run this triple option to Perfection, you saw the numbers there on buye a transfer to Tucker this year from Meadowcreek third, and six, big play, right here.
If the war he goes want to keep this opening drive alive once again.
Quit option.
That's Ernie.
Trying to turn the corner.
You won't get there and gooey.
Again, another big hit over that far.
Sideline will force a force down.
We'll take another look at it.
Here as farmer takes the toss there.
And of course, look at the discipline there, they everybody all the defensive players that you see coming up in the white jerseys, they have responsibility and they have to make sure that they do it and carried out each and every play left side and to the right as mayor's runs their option.
Samaras will line up at punt formation right here, Chris Williamson there.
You see his numbers 37 and a half long average on the year, will boot it away to Jonathan.
Davis who stands back at his own, Tim Ball at the Tucker 47 and Williamson a college Prospect, going to try to pin the Tigers inside the 20, we'll get a little bit of a roll right here and it will roll inside the 15.
So a nice little Marius batch right there in the Tigers will set up shop at the On 12.
They're going to look at Chris Beck, but you starting quarterback at his numbers on the year, eight touchdowns just two interceptions for the senior.
Make no bones about it.
Tucker is primarily a running team but they can't throw the football.
If need be absolutely in Beck is a very intelligent young man.
3.9 grade point.
Average is just done well with this test college prep, test scores.
This guy can run this offense and he's a smart, and he was recently nominated for an appointment to West Point.
Wow.
So he's a smart kid 3.96.
GPA is got it done on the field and in the classroom and that really defines when we mentioned, what a student athlete is all about.
Well, Chris Beck number 17 is just that straight ahead first plane Jonathan Davis.
Already making his presence felt 67 yards there on the quick hitter and that's really one thing.
DJ that suckers going to have to do tonight, they're gonna have to establish a Davis.
Obviously as you see their lineup right there, across the front, Taylor flanked by Latham and more at the guards Middlebrooks at Davis for a five of those.
Returning from last year's team.
Calhoun Scott Davis Sanders and Potter's again the rest of the guys there.
James vaughters lines up at tied in second and short.
And Drayton Calhoun with his first Carry of the night.
He's got the first down and more on his feet, all the way up to the 35 goes Drayton Calhoun and it's a Tucker first down.
Tell you what you talked about the speed we were talking about Drayton Calhoun.
He's a sub for poor guy, look at how he gets outside.
And of course, he gets behind his blockers, but it takes great speed.
And before his great decision making, when you're running out there on the edge, Tigers first season 1950.
You want Maris has been playing ball since 1948.
So Stu story programs playing their 18th overall meeting here against each other tonight and no one bigger than this one.
There's Hardware on the line tonight between these two First and Ten ball just across the 35, Calhoun again on the Curious, tripped up from behind, nice job right there.
By number 24 for Maris John crochet.
Excellent blocking up front there for the Tucker offense.
There you got to give credit to the center called Taylor and the the Right Guard.
James Latham, we're going to look at the front for jacoti, 7 du côté sons have played for Maris would Urban and Carol The Upfront for their Becker car lock and Mitchell.
The linebackers and the secondary Hannah claw, almond, Sullivan and McNerney and yes it is Hannah, claw recheck.
Wow, easiest way to remember that as Santa Claus, okay, rhymes with that this time Here's Calhoun right side?
Stays on his feet, spins off of a would-be tackler.
And we'll take it up to about the 43 and a half.
Calhoun is an explosive athlete has already committed to LSU and of course everybody in the Southeastern Conference wanted but they'll take the hand off here and go off to ankle, has a nice hole up and step inside.
Breaks one, tackle breaks two tackles, and you can tell for 175 pounds.
He's also a very powerful young running back.
Tucker marching band old house here tonight.
Neither one of these two teams are extraordinary.
Big upfront offensively or defensively, but they're very quick and they rely on their speed and their schemes a lot of trap walking.
There's a big b**** Davis trying to turn the corner weights on his blocking ride, their tiptoes, the sidelines and goes out of bounds in mirrors, territory 247.
And DJ that time Jonathan showed a lot of patience.
He did show a lot of patience but this kid plays with an attitude, he's edgy because again, all he's heard all this time is that he's not big enough, but No, he's one of the strongest players of the team, certainly one of the fastest players on the team and of course, playing middle linebacker and pull back.
That tells you there that this kids a study.
Yeah, he's sort of place but the chip on his shoulder.
Yeah.
As a smaller guy, you would expect that to be the case he plays a lot bigger than he is first intent.
Now Tucker's got a good drive going here on their opening possession and this time back.
What kind of throw was a side fires down field.
Has a man, they're too wide of his intended target that big number 88.
Quit Brown be junior.
And it's out of a movie second and two great defensive effort in Pursuit by Randy, Carol would be the junior defensive lineman for Marist, and forcing the quarterback to really go outside his own.
You, here's the play before.
We're talking about Jonathan Davis, and watch the GPB camera folks.
My goodness.
Wow.
Hey, you, let me tell you something and he's gonna get up.
Hey, we gotta put a helmet on that guy.
He's tough.
And he didn't rub it, the same baseball.
You don't rub it when you get hit.
He didn't rub it.
You just pop.
Right up off the ground.
We got a tough through here tonight.
Second and Tim Calhoun and motion this time to hand it to him back in the middle, but Mary is sitting on that play all the way, maybe to two and a half yards.
It nice job by the war, eagles up front, as a nice play there, by Philip would coming in over finishing off that play.
But I tell you, you know what, you hold your breath, when Calhoun has the ball because, you know, that he can take it to the house on any play on anywhere on the field and they're gonna look at the amaris front.
Those guys are very impressive.
Do Cody.
Wood is you see right there in your frame 51 and 62, a great job of keeping offensive, lineman off of their linebackers, allowing them, to make plays.
Here's third and seven back to the air.
Has a man complete that is buye.
He is hit, we're going to give him forward progress, right?
At the first down marker.
So it's going to be awfully close right here, as you see.
Devin Scott number five, tell you what that was great defensive coverage, got Jimbo hanako and you can't ask for much more than that.
The receiver catches the ball and you tackle that me immediately.
Fourth and one is what it's showing right here, depending on the measurement.
524 opening quarter there.
You look at Franklin Stevens, two seasons, 26 and two back-to-back 13 and 11 years for this Tucker tiger program.
And it's going to be fourth down and just inches.
It does look like as they Mark, the football out here when you talk about Franklin Stevens to hit coach for Tucker.
Obviously, his pedigree is excellent.
He coached up with under here and down there Camden County, right?
First, we'll see Camden tomorrow night in the 5A Championship there you look at Alan Chadwick, his Worst season, get this the worst season ever, Alan Chadwick 1993, 74.
He's been at Marist for some 34 years.
26 consecutive seasons of the playoffs for the boy.
Maris blue Regals.
Unbelievable, fourth and short tigers with a late substitution into the ballgame, going to go for it here and get a snake, it straightforward.
And Chris Beck is stood up right at the line.
The Tigers think they have it, but it may be another measurement situation right here, DJ gutsy, call here, early it's just a Joe, you know, you what your strap your helmet on and you line up and you just think that you better than this guy 41-yard, you can get one yard Chris Beck, Straight Ahead there.
You know, back also in his own right.
Little bit overshadowed is a runner obviously with guys like Calhoun and Davis and Scott but back also listed at a 4740 can also get it done on the ground as well and it's going to be awful close.
I think he got it though.
He did first down Tigers, they keep their opening Series alive, that was huge and you again, you're talking about trying to establish the tempo.
Here we saw.
Nurse come out like gangbusters but Tucker was able to settle down and stop them.
Now the Tucker offense is trying to do their thing.
Good representation in the house here tonight, of course, both teams making the short trip from DeKalb County and packed it out here on the lower level.
Sol Maris number 41, their car lock the middle linebacker.
Directing his guys up front.
This time not much room over that right side.
Maybe a yard or so will bring up second and long.
Nice stop by number 41, killer car lot.
Tucker.
Of course for playoff games.
They've averaged thirty six and a half points.
Eight times this year.
Are nine times rather they've been over 30 points in ball games, Force, averaging 32 points, a game, there you go to.
Look at Keller Carlock of marriage to his numbers.
This year 39 solo tackles for a loss and this time left side and not a whole lot of room there.
Jonathan Davis will push ahead for maybe three will bring up third down.
What's so impressive?
About this Tucker offense is that they do have the powerful Jonathan Smith, could you drive up inside?
But also, you can drive home with that speed on the outside.
You got to be, you got to be able to stop the quick traps.
And you also got to be ready for the long ball.
Looks like we do have a Timeout on the field here with 358 left in the opening quarter right here.
Your headband here tonight to get the 4A state championship Tucker, of course.
Last year, right here in the dome, ended their season.
In the semi-finals against Northside Warner Robins in the game that still eating at Coach Stevens and the Tigers led, a 28-7 halftime only to watch Northside come all the way back and win a 31-28.
That game has not sat well and you know this Tucker team was anxious to get back to this level.
Where's this year?
An extra step being the state championship Third and five straight ahead and Davis reaching that ball out as close as he could.
But still going to be shy of the first down, another, fourth, and short.
Once again, decision time for Coach Stevens, say it is.
And I'm putting.
I tell you, one thing, he's gay, he has going for him and he has the tempo to the, or the gauge is leaning a little forward there, the Tucker side, but at the same time, this play is huge in the big picture he while merits, of course, 83 last year, lost to Habersham Central in the first round of the playoffs of the road back for Coach Chadwick in this War Eagle theme is certainly been impressive.
Winners of 13 straight, since that opening week loss against st. Pius, here's fourth down into a little bit longer this time, but doctor still going for it and that was going to be blown dead.
The referee throwing it from the Tucker backfield right here.
Cold Becker.
Cole Becker on the stop.
Now I tell you he's going to be in, could be very interesting.
I think that again Tucker is in a position to take control of this thing.
Early dead ball, false, start offense, fourth down.
I'm Steve Wynn, Rusty win the referee Don allows the Umpire Freddie Stuart, Weitzman line, judges Jim Barrow, Bobbi Coulson, the back judge feel judges are through Schmidt and Rob are filled the clock operator here tonight from the Middle Georgia football.
Officials Association to get working this for a state championship game here tonight.
So forth down Tucker, still going for it.
Here on this part of the field, you're in that in-between territory.
Here's Becky's, going to scramble.
He's going to run for it and he's got it inside the Maris 20 Sobek, nobody opened downfield, great coverage by that mirus secondary, but Beck had all kinds of real estate over that right-sided picked up the first down with his legs.
As you take a look at this, is the excellent call by the quarterback - decision.
We said he was a smart kid.
He didn't see anything down the field.
He's going to go ahead and go for the chains and he made the first down and a big, big play for his Tucker, Tigers Sam McNerney forced him out, but not before Beck was able to pick up the first down right here.
So again, a gutsy call, you know, forth and 1/4 of to a, you know, for that 7.
Wow.
Touring Malone.
The offensive coordinator.
I'm sure he's happy.
Right about now.
The tigers are anxious to get some points on the board here.
And here's great catching a little misdirection play it right there.
Devon Scott.
Loses the handle on the football, but I believe we're going to say he Is down.
Unbelievable quickness, as Scott gets the handoff.
And explodes up the middle and given four yards on the play.
Right there will be Tucker football again, Scott.
A junior has been a nice compliment for the attackers, offensive ly to go along with Davis and Calhoun.
It just goes to show, you can't always just rely on stopping those two, we've already seen BEC, make a big play with his legs and now Scott, getting into the ACT.
A lot of athletes on this took her off in some team.
So second down and 5 right here, Calhoun trying to turn the corner spins and will be right at the first down marker.
Nice job.
By the award goes to string it out, but Tucker again, on the move right here, going to be close to.
Another first, I tell you what is one thing to have speed, but to have Speed and Agility to be able to Pivot and spin back inside.
Like that's that's the extraordinary move.
Well, you know, the thing they say about speed DJ, is you either have it or you're chasing?
And that's one thing we talked about last year because of course, this Tucker team was here in the dome.
And, and a lot of people were wondering, hey, is this the fastest team in the state and they haven't seen to have lost a whole lot here in 2000 HZ Calhoun's numbers.
Well, over 1,100 yards, this year seven and a half a touch and 11 touchdowns.
That's seven and a half yards of carry.
That bag is my attention right away.
Third down and one.
And again, back on the quarterback sneak appears to have first down yardage if so it would set up first and goal.
And remember, again, we're right down here inside a minute in this first quarter, looks like we're going to have a another measurement DJ.
This is still the opening drive for Tucker in the Ballgame, he has.
But I tell you a couple of plays that go and I know that obviously they need to continue to, to get gain yardage to get the first down, but that play that, of course, back Able to escape falling out of the back side and pick up the first down.
There's a reason why they are down here inside the red zone right now.
So foggy be spotted, just outside the seven first and goal of coming for the Tucker Tigers.
12 region titles, 313 win seasons including of course this year.
And last year the other one back in 1994 Meanwhile, the war Eagles defense, average allowing just 12 and a half points a game, but they've got their backs to the wall right here and Davis is eight up in the backfield.
Big play right there by number 80, Jeff Urban the defensive end the big senior right there.
You can shoot group of the stop excellent.
Penetration by Urban.
Of course, it's going to need pic plays like that.
You'll have opportunity here to see him, of course, defeat his blocker.
And obviously, look for the football.
That's the most important thing you, when you penetrate, the opposing teams line of scrimmage, as a defensive lineman, you gotta find the football, Urban 63 210 pounds, good-looking athlete right there in your frame and that will do it.
The end of the first quarter here, inside the Georgia Dome, no score but the Tucker Tigers threatening here at the end of one will be right back.
Why?
This is Georgia public broadcasting, your PBS station back here, inside the Georgia Dome, good old-fashioned robbery.
Playing out here tonight of this for a state football championship again.
The Tucker tigers and Marist, war eagles scoreless after one but the Tigers on the move here although they were backed up on that last.
Play had first and goal at the 7 now it's second and goal out at the 13 as you see the fans, all painted up here tonight and see the current Drive 17 plays 70 yards, 842 off the clock.
And again, remember this drive started way back at thrown 12, very impressive.
Back under Center once again, quick toss Davis trying to hit the outside, has a little bit of room over there.
We take it out right at the original line of scrimmage at the seven, and it'll bring up third and goal.
Nice job by the war, eagles defensively, to be able to get a body on Davis to use.
Look at that young man there and again, he's, he's undersized and he plays with the chip on his shoulders, but you can see the speed and acceleration as he was able to pick up the game.
Jonathan Davis is a young man that obviously the heart and soul of this Tucker Tigers football team.
But to look at him in the backfield, you wouldn't think that he would be a middle linebacker and raising had it that he has all year long on the defensive side of the ball.
Absolutely.
You gotta remember this to, this is his third straight semi Model.
Yes transfer.
You know from st. Pius over the Tucker program.
St. Pius in the dome, of course, a couple years ago.
And I'll take her back to back.
And here's back rolling on third down fires wide of his intended, target that straight and Calhoun out of the backfield.
Those two hooked up earlier in the playoffs for a long touchdown but this one incomplete had a couple receive result when they're just too.
I couldn't get you can square the shoulders up and get the ball to him but he's definitely an opportunity to Come Away with some points here.
So now it looks like Tucker and will line up here for a Google try.
It's going to be a 24 yard attempt, for Ricky peacock snap.
The kick is up and it is through there.
So peacock adds a field goal and gets the Tigers on the board.
Three nothing with 11:44 left here in the first half, good drive.
It's not what Tucker ultimately wanted taking it all the way from their 12 but hey, they got points out of it, got to be impressed with that 1819.
Play drive and of course they ran clock eight and a half minutes and some 75 yards, okay?
Well earlier this week, the Georgia Dome and the Atlanta Falcons football team proudly honored the GHSA with the unveiling of a A Georgia High School Association, football helmet display, this expansive display includes football helmets from GHSA Affiliated, high school, football teams from around the state.
This display is located at the Lower Gate C. So be sure to check it out.
The next time, you're at the Georgia Dome.
And look at that boys of that a impressive display right there here at the Georgia Dome.
That's beautiful.
And S-Class, when you talk about Khalil Johnson the general manager of this building and Arthur Blank, the owner of the Falcons just tremendous job there of showing the support you know, again that's especially And it's great to see high school football, recognize like that.
Yes, at a state level.
How peacock, of course, booted the 24 yard field goal.
Now he will boot the kick off right here and in Boots, a deep and that one's going to go into the end zone.
And Patrick Sullivan will unable to be a, he put a hand on that one right there.
So now out of the 24, the war eagles who will set up shop for just the second time in this football game and it comes 15 seconds into the second quarter.
And this is an interesting time to see a blue collar, like Marist, offense, On the back.
And of course, you know, they get an opportunity now to see what the, you know, how they can control the office.
I know they came out during the early goings and they did an excellent job and take a look at the drive again, 19 poised, 76 yards, and, of course, that field goal eating up about nine minutes of clock.
So now the war eagles, go back to work right here.
And this time Farmer on the keeper, go straight ahead and we might see that a lot here tonight that fake to Connors who will then lead farmer up and behold right there in Farmer picking up.
Good yardage on first down gain of six, close to seven, an important note on Farmer.
Obviously, you know, he's the starting quarterback now and has been for a less the last eight, nine, ten weeks or so.
But he had to earn that.
He's an excellent baseball player and a lot of his time is spent with the mayor's baseball team of playing summer league Ball, but the coach made him earn had come back and earn this spot.
And he's doing a wonderful job.
Horse McNerney started, the season at QB but has since moved to halfback in has really become the best blocking back on this team, and here's farmer again with the keeper.
This time, we're first down and gain of five up across the 33.
As I mentioned earlier, in this triple option offense, the quarterback has to be a, has to have a good football IQ.
He has to be tough.
And as you sing in the early goings here, the quarterback Farmers running ball up inside.
He's establishing, of course the inside run, but you know what?
Tucker's defense gets undisciplined.
He's gonna flip that thing outside.
Course, you know what happens when you get on the edge there, you look at the total yards, 76 23 in favor of the Tigers who have had the football a lot longer this game that time the tiger defense all over the play there and again, hey merest sticking with something that works there.
But this time Bryson in the Tigers they're able to shut it down.
Huge hit by Bryce and coming up and of course locking up the quarterback there because again Farmer, see something up inside.
He keeps trying to take those until he's done those little angels.
Yep inside.
But a nice collision by Bryson.
It's Tucker defense.
Maybe not quite as dominant as the one last year, but still very impressive 10.2 points a game this year, but very opportunistic that squirts six defensive touchdowns.
And a penalty marker inside.
Here might have a delay of game maybe.
False start.
Dead ball false start offense second.
Now again Rusty with the head man here tonight with the call.
See the guys exchanging wits here tonight.
Alan Chadwick.
Of course of Marist.
And Franklin.
Stevens of Tucker.
So after the penalty right here going to be second down and 13, receiver up top man in motion and a little pitch right side there.
That's Sullivan trying to make something happen to looted, one block, one block, or there or would-be tackler and got up across the 35, up to the 37.
What a great job I Bryson, obviously, as you see, he didn't he didn't get fooled.
He's able to course, keep the contain here because Give the run of the opportunity to get to the edge.
But again, you see his buddies, he held him up long enough and he had the Overflow coming over with Davis filling from his middle linebacker.
Position, are you see Sullivan's numbers right there?
68, Russia's 572 on the ground.
8.4 when he touches the football and 11.
Touchdowns for the junior, what a season for Patrick Sullivan, who will now split out in the slot near side?
Third down and seven this time farmer, throwing it up and that one going to be wide of the intended target that was sold.
Out there that ball got away from farmer a little bit, probably lucky that thing did get picked off absolutely great defensive coverage by Tucker.
So Marys will have to boot it away for the second time here tonight with 913 left here in this first half great job once again by that tiger defense.
You know, when you're talking about the Tigers and their defense, you know, as you saw there that they made an excellent play in coverage, but talking to some coaches, they might have thought that if you're gonna attack this Tucker team, that did that secondary was was one that you would want to try to establish in the early goings.
Well, you just said right there in your frame, the punter for merest.
And had a pretty good punt there a while ago, that pin the Tigers inside their own 15.
Here's another one, got a little bit more room to work with and this one is returnable Jonathan or rather, Devin Scott along the far sideline back across the 35, to the 37 right here.
And Tucker will have the ball once again.
Let's go ahead and take a quick break right here.
Will step aside with 90 to left in the second quarter.
We're back with more in a moment.
Tucker.
Tigers lead it 3 nothing over the merest war eagles in this for a state championship here.
Live on Georgia public broadcasting.
Again, Dave Garner DJ Jones with you Jon Nelson, Jared, olivieri on the sidelines here tonight, along with the rest of our crew, and some of our crews already taken a few shots here on the sidelines while those camera guys are hanging in there, death tonight.
Very, very tough there.
I like that young man.
But, you know, Jeff ewart the defensive coordinator for Mary's I saw him huddling with his defense there.
He's got a, he's trying to get the best.
Alice this Tempo here because right now it's all Tucker.
There's Devon Scott.
Trying to make something happen sidesteps.
A couple of tacklers right there and gets back to the line of scrimmage.
Nice job defensively in there.
You look at the middle linebacker right there.
For Harris to a number 41 Keller Carlock the sophomore and I got somebody upperclassmen on these teams here is very impressive and you know as a sophomore for this could be your start middle linebacker.
That says a lot about the confidence that this coaching staff hasn't him.
Absolutely.
Second and nine, they'll give him credit for a gain of one on the play.
There you look at the offensive line of course Potter's the tide in right there number nine years, son.
It's time and emotion.
And the give Davis trying to turn the corner with a little stiff arm right there.
Trying to make something happen in, take the big shot there, at the end of that, play by Jeff Urban the senior defensive end tell you what Jimbo, Hannah lucu.
The, how did I Santa Claus?
Santa Claus.
All right.
Jim Boeheim compete.
Made it possible.
I tell you what, when you take a look at this play, watch number 18, on your Hannah Claus going to come up and he forced that wide bow, that thing out there.
So look at all this buddies coming over there with those blue hats to help.
I was a big shot right there at the tail end of that, play to put that helmet right there in the sternum Hannah Club won't get credit for that tackle but he should get credit from his teammates and coaches for making that play a blowing that play up third and five right here for the tiger offense wins up top.
Now, Scott will go up there and make it trips back looking to throw the football.
Fires in the flat.
Has a man complete first down at Midfield.
So the Tigers convert on third down the reception there, by number 12, Stephen Starks.
Chris Beck got his shoulders squared and found a beautiful pass up field for a first down.
Starring say junior wideout will take another look at it right here again.
Beck rolling to his left which is sometimes tough for a right-handed quarterback to do but a good throw right on the money and the key to it all was him squaring up your show, just take a look at it, he's going left and he's going to square those shoulders up and he's gonna throw a dart.
Are you young kids watching out there?
That's the way to do it.
Starts your Junior again, newer.
The first down marker was that that's another lesson to get past the sticks right through and make sure you've got the first down quick toss right here.
Calhoun goes back in the middle as they ate up by several war, eagles their after a gain of about two and a half, great Pursuit there by the Maris defensive front there, Randy caroled Philip would and Jeff Irwin.
This is a soccer team that's rushed for, over 3,000 yards this year DJ and they haven't thrown a football much.
They haven't had to, that's really the thing here, but they have thrown it effectively a couple times here tonight.
Of course, Beck has, but 3,000 yards rushing in to season and says a lot, you got those two thousand yard backs and a couple other guys have also put up some pretty good numbers.
Davison Calhoun.
Second and eight.
This time, Scott finds a little bit of a seam right through stays on his feet, breaks a tackle and goes all the way down to the 35.
A great second effort, right there in a gain of 12.
It looks impressive as I see it with the alive.
I, but I know it home on television that this young man looks like he's electric.
Of course, he's had this, this is his third carry.
But look at the shifting is with Devin Scott, avoiding tacklers and making people miss it.
They can collisions and bouncing off people tell you.
That's, and that's, that's the third back on the team.
What are some of those big linemen walking down Fielder?
You know, you gotta love that.
There's Scott's numbers right there in the year, 49, Russia's 309 yards 6.3 average and six touchdowns and again, The junior First and Ten from the War Eagle, 35 and Davis hit right at the line and knocked down there.
Nice job.
Big number 60, chip to Cody the a senior in on another tackle.
Also, number 38, Spencer Mitchell there.
Who, of course, was the leading tackler last year on this mirrors.
Team is back again.
And once again has been a big boost over there.
Fairest.
Of course, defensively allowing 12.6 points a game.
As you see, Mitchell's numbers on the season, 38 solo, 37 assist 94 a loss and a couple of sacks could go along with that.
Gain of just one on the play so second and nine right here.
Receivers left and right.
That's Scott in motion and back again, looking to go the air.
Now, we'll just tuck it and run it and Carries to the 30 gain of four third, and five upcoming tell you what Chris Beck did.
Get a lot of building coming into this thing but to get few plays that, I've seen with him getting out on the corner and make a decisions to tuck it and run very aggressive.
And again, as you take a look at him here, he's no decisiveness in him, he's looking is not open, guess what?
He's going to tuck it and take, whatever the defense can give him.
Tucker's really had to overcome a lot of significant injuries this year too and that's something that this team has done a great job of putting right Personnel out there they've had to fight through a lot and the round one game against Whitewater, both Davis and Calhoun were escorted off of the field both would return though but that shows their toughness and some of the adversity that this team is Tucker teams had to fight through to see Coach Stevens calling the timeout here with Team left in the first half and it's been a relatively quick first half, indeed.
Well, we need viewers like you to help support the live broadcast of these games.
Now you can show your support by becoming a member of Georgia public television, simply call 1-866-931-6190.
Now your job public broadcasting, she be doing a great job as been covering football and State Basketball Championships for more than a decade.
I think it's wonderful that you're giving up the he's kissing opportunity to get the exposure throughout the state, folks down in south Georgia and his Ford North as decoy and above, you know, that folks get to watch this game and watch these champion.
And all the teams here today are champions, of course, but the only one can win, but it's just not great opportunity for the GPB does for these kids.
And I've always enjoyed it.
You know, from from Kingsland in the Southeastern corner to Trenton up of the northwest corner.
I mean, Georgia public.
public broadcasting has you covered right here with live state championship action?
There you look at the third down picture here Tucker, to afford Marist, one of three, and the tigers, with another third and five upcoming right here, they've actually converted a couple fourth down.
So your to, in this first half.
Those might be four down territory right here regardless he's back rolling, right?
This time fires back in the middle in and out of the hands of botters, the tide in inside the 20 and it will be fourth down.
And once again decision time for Coach Stevens and the Tigers who have pushed went for it and with similar situation like this earlier in the game, I like what they're doing, I like what Tucker is doing when they roll in back out because he's a threat to run or throw.
Fortunately did come up with a completion on that play but you know what?
I look for another similar type opportunity because He is a good decision maker, he doesn't roll into traffic and obviously when these when it's not there, he can do something with his legs.
Soccer tonight.
Again, two for two on fourth down.
And with those kind of numbers.
Hey, why not roll the dice, huh?
Yep.
You said a mouthful.
Chris back.
Of course, has been a big part of the success of Tucker so far.
On this football game making good decisions.
We talked about really both these quarterbacks being smart football players.
Delay of game offense, five-yard penalty for staff.
Well, that changes the complexion of this play call here, certainly may still go for it but it'll be interesting to see what happens now.
So again, Tucker will huddle up Just didn't get the play in there quick enough on that last one.
It's still plenty of time here the second quarter four minutes, 12 seconds, three nothing, Tucker and the Tigers have the football looking for more right here, meanwhile that merest defense now trying to tighten right here and trying to get the football back because the tigers again will leave their offense on the field and more whistles.
Looks like we do have a timeout.
The Tigers will call a timeout with 412 lift.
In the second quarter right here.
Is you see, Rusty win done a good job here.
The officials Association in the house here tonight.
Let's get this ball game moving.
It's been a pretty quick first half here inside the Georgia Dome.
And this particular position is very important for Tucker in a sense that they have an opportunity.
If they can't make a first down to go up 10 points here in the second quarter.
And again, I know the last time that they met back in September, they got taken out behind the Woodshed and got to be pretty good by Marisa.
Absolutely.
John Nelson standing by on the sideline, let's go downstairs.
John what do you got about the the mayor's coaching staff real quick.
One of the special guys that Alan Chadwick likes to talk about his coach Spurgeon.
Pat doc Spurgeon.
Chadwick says, he's got more championship rings than anyone else in the world, Youngstown, State, and Ohio State would Trestle Statesboro and Georgia Southern.
He helped start the erk Russell program.
And there, you see him right there with the cowboy hat, he helps out with the offensive line in the kicker's.
He's not wearing a championship ring tonight and he didn't come out until the absolute last possible.
Second for this ball game.
All right.
Thanks Johnny.
Yeah.
John you know, we were talking about it.
We weren't sure if he was going to wear the cowboy hat inside.
He always wears it outside.
We were kind of wondering if he would have done it here tonight under the roof looks like coach Franklin wants to play possession football and he's got us his punting team out.
It's a little change of strategy there after the timeout and Tucker punter is Beck Also handles the kicking duties, and boys is going to be a nice one right here.
It will roll to the 5 so the Tigers have it pinned up there.
Great punt.
One thing we haven't talked a lot about his special teams here in this first half.
It could certainly make or break a ball game and that's really how you control your field position is in.
Those is in the kicking game.
You're absolutely right.
And I so excellent.
Product course, getting the ball down on the 5-yard line and goes.
It's a lot of real estate left out there for marriage.
To put the ball in the end zone.
95 yards to be exact right here for the Orioles who do take back over with 402 left farmer.
Once again, under Center to Center is big number 58.
Joe pfeffer the senior and farmer going to be drug down, big play, Jonathan Davis, shoot through their makes the stop behind the line of scrimmage Big Time.
Players.
Make big plays and crucial times.
And of course, the young man that everybody's talking about, Jonathan Davis shot, the gap.
Able to get penetration into the mayor's Back Field.
Take a look here.
And was able to get wow, got up there in a hurry farmer down.
Exactly but you know Davis we talk about him.
Hey, everybody loves offense, big numbers there.
But this guy defensively.
Just see his numbers right there.
Over 100 tackles there, two sacks, and interception.
84 a lost, 114 tackles.
I know you're an old DB.
You got appreciate those numbers.
Yeah, absolutely.
Second and ten farmer this time going to keep but has nowhere to go with the football Tucker.
Really have that much played well on the option right there.
Pitch, man was taken farmer.
Good decision right there just didn't have anywhere to go and guess who's on the tackle?
Jonathan Davis.
Yeah, Marcus Williams number 63 safety.
Also.
Coming up and you know, this is a quick secondary.
These guys, you know, you got to love a free safety, you can come up and make a play at the line of scrimmage.
Williams a senior and now Maris with a third and 8.
Got to take care of the football.
Ride, hear their laughter, the wishbone type.
Look, the severs left and right.
Farmer it throws it down.
I believe that knee might have been down there.
Going to call an incomplete pass.
That's a penalty marker also there.
And it looks like it is going to be a safety Nicholas pots.
You can credit him with that safety.
They're getting on the other side of Mars is on the ladder scriven scrimmage and chasing of course farmer and Tackle them in the end zone before he can get rid of the ball, somewhat of a little gimmick play there.
He picked it up inside and it's very, very hard to see the football and it's Option offense but you can see him take the ball up inside, kind of Glorious, his body raises up.
But number big number 63 Nicholas spots.
Is there to make the play boiling pots to tell you what he's a big body in there and D put all kinds of pressure on that play possum listed at 62 to 65 in Farmer at that point had no choice.
Try to get rid of the football, maybe get a call right there, but it went against them and so a safety and now the Tigers will get the football back with two and a half minutes to play here in the second quarter and up five nothing.
It's like we're playing baseball.
Well, we do know.
There's one baseball player on the field for sure.
Yes, here you look at pots who as you mentioned, DJ will be credited.
I guess with that, safety right there for putting on the pressure.
And man, that's a scary sight to see 260 something pounds coming right at you, absolutely.
So now Tucker will have the return out here in Marysville bring on either they can I guess select either kick it off or put it in the situation.
I tell you what Nellie was talking in pregame about Tempo and of course, patrolling that Tempo.
And right now, I think it is safe to say that that Tempo swing or that that m is pointing at the Tigers.
Well, either way, we can safely say at this point, that has certainly been a much different game than we saw back in September during week 5 of the regular season.
You sure?
They get, it was 38 2038 to Marys.
Wow.
Yes.
But then we did say that.
This is a different team here.
They got better.
In every week and had some injuries along the way.
We're going to look happy.
Place kicker for Mirrors, Justin Moore, who boots it away right here.
Returnable inside they 24 Drayton.
Calhoun is got the 35 tries to spin out of a tackle and it's taken down at the 37.
Nice job there.
On special teams by number 32, Matt Connors Starting fullback, making the play down there, you got like those Headhunters, you know those, those guys, those starters, the rear there on the Special Teams going down and making a hit.
You gotta love it.
And I know that the coaches just don't trust those younger players, they plan to put those those guys that are in the wars and they understand and stay in your lane and all that good stuff.
So that's why you see a lot of the starters on special teams at just about every level, So now back in that office will take over again the offensive line, as we mentioned four of five starters off of last year's State semifinal team back there in there, you can look at the offensive comparison between the two here tonight plays, obviously in favor of tuckus, Tucker, along with yardage and first downs as well and that tells the story.
Now, back throwing off his back foot, throws it Up, Knocked away, Devon's got the intended target, but a great job.
Back there by Sullivan or Maris to break it up, tell you what I like to do.
Residents here going for it all but he's not fooling.
Anybody hit the two defensive backs on the coverage, they're in excellent position made a great play.
That was just a great.
This great disciplined defensive play by the secondary for marriage because that could have very easily been a long touchdown Sullivan and Hannah claw, both naked, the playback there defensively for the war eagles, a second and 10 ball.
After 37 years, another pitch.
They'll load up the right side Davis with all The Running Room, watch out Jonathan Davis down to the Maris 32, this kids, a beast, and they call him that literally because he can dominate on both sides of the football down today.
To take a look as he takes the pitch.
Coming right at you.
and he cuts back and finds a little seam and breaks a few tackles and Here's another look at it and the angle, look at that lane that he's running through.
Got a flag down on the play though and it does appear to be coming back.
Kevin almond saved a touchdown but It's like this one will be returned.
Holding.
Offense.
Ten-yard penalty.
So that negates a big offensive play right there for the Tigers.
Right shtetl, be second and 15 all the way back at the 31 impressive blocks on that play, although it was negated there.
James Latham is long with.
Middlebrooks.
Oracle's.
Of course, defensively have an impressive three shutouts this year.
Winners of 13 straight trailing right here is that scissors play again?
Devin Scott's got some room watch out back into the middle of the field across Midfield and in Damaris territory gain of about 21 or 22 yards on the play right there.
In Devon Scott number five.
Sometimes overshadowed admittedly by Calhoun and Davis has made a name for himself through this evening.
Take a look at the again the shift, It is in the quickness of Scott up inside and picking up a huge first down.
For the Tucker Tigers 21 on the play First and Ten ball at the War Eagle 48 back.
Again, looking fires down field has a man that would just be on the outstretched arms defensively.
Of the free safety.
There.
Look like out.
Almond six, three hundred 90 pounder.
Went up for it.
And I thought back was going to tuck it, run it there for a moment.
All of a sudden he pulled that ball out, fire down field, you can see coach Franklin talking to his quarterback, they're telling him to settle down and of course he should let him know that.
Obviously this is an opportunity to take advantage of an opportunity to get some points minute, 40 left in the half.
As you see coach, Alan Chadwick looking on right here.
272 wins as a head coach.
15 region titles was the offensive coordinator for eight years.
Prior to becoming the head man at Marist, a back on the keeper.
Takes it down, shy of the 40 and will pick up about eight yards there on.
Second down, will be third and short, but the o'clock now under a minute and a half Coach Stevens.
Of course, taking over from Bill Ballard who was at Tucker for five years now.
Peachtree Ridge and of course we'll see those guys in the 5A Championship tomorrow night.
First Coach Stevens, as you mentioned, DJ, and understudy of Coach Jeff here in at Camden, which will be in the other half of the final there.
Here's back.
Rolling left, has a man complete that's Davis.
25 stays on his feet, 20 15, 10, and inside the 10, first and goal tigers with under a minute, to play here in the first half and that was well, designed and well, executed another great pass by Beck course, rolling to his left and fill you folks out there rolling to your left as a right-hander is pretty tough.
Squares, his shoulders up and delivers the ball to Davis and Davis, does the rest.
Picking up the additional yardage and almost getting into the end zone Mitchell.
Had to bring him down, but not before a gain of 35.
So the Tigers knocking on the door, right here, a five nothing.
And we're going to hand it to Calhoun.
Who is eight up behind the line?
Big play defensively.
Wow, number 18, hand of klaw, the senior all over that one.
We seen Hannah Club, make a couple of plays like that but again, just being aggressive.
It going after the football Look at the look at the penetration right here and o'clock boy came out of nowhere pot through a block or two made the play and trip them up.
Nice play nice play, second and goal.
Now from the 10 and Back Again, rolling left looking fires.
Going to laugh, one up out of bounds.
They were looking for Sanders who we haven't called a whole lot here in this first half, Chris Sanders, intended, target, but nice job there, defensively by almond, the corner.
We've seen back rolls to his left several times here in the first half.
And again, that's very Cold.
Very awkward for right-handed quarterback but he does it very well.
All going to be put down on the 17, fourth and goal.
The Tigers trying to add another field goal off the leg of the Lefty Ricky peacock, here's the hold, the kick is up and it is right through there.
So with five seconds left here in the half, the Tigers extend their advantage.
Now out 28-nothing three different scores but still a one-possession football game.
Unbelievable.
Take another look at the old again.
Chris Beck the holder right here.
Nice.
Diving attempt there by Sam.
McNerney of Marist, but peacock two for two on the night.
How to 24 yarder early in the half and adds one here.
And there you get a look at the 27-yard field goal drive.
Right there, eight plays 53 yards, just 2007 off the clock.
And again, peacock now two for two, you know, and watching that played over these depth of field goal that peacock kick there, that would have been good from 40 50.
Maybe.
I mean it hit was the velocity Ricky peacock is a dad is actually the trainer for the oh Tucker Tigers football team so I'm sure he's proud of his son here and I'm sure he gets a little additional coaching when he goes over to the sideline there.
Yes, you know, although Tucker's controlled in this thing Marisa.
Still very much in this ballgame, you mentioned is still just a one position ballgame, mayor's comes down the field score.
They're right back in this ball game.
Now, peacock will Boot It Away.
Another long kickoff Rider.
This one going to go into the end zone.
Over the ahead of Sullivan right there.
Had to watch it go in there and so the merest war eagles will have one play at least from their 20 trailing 8.
Nothing.
take a look there at coach Chadwick and he's been a longtime coach and at mayor's program office of coordinator.
He took the first job there and of course, I'm sure he's going to be counting on some offense to help him get out of this hole here.
And, of course, coach Franklin Stephens 26.
And to that, that speaks for itself, the job that he's done, And Marisol, just take a knee and get into the locker room right here trailing 8 zip, so an action-packed, first half a low scoring Affair, but it pretty quick first half here indeed and it's the Tucker Tigers, 13 and 1 out of region.
Six leading ate nothing over the 13 and one Maris war eagles.
Also out of region, 6 again here inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta and another half a football to be played here tonight.
Let's go ahead and throw it on down to Gerald, olivieri.
Gerald.
Thanks a lot.
Dave, I'm here with Coach Stevens.
Your team has dominated.
Time of possession, the score.
How are you happy with the, the game plan so far?
Well, as a cue to understand offense, we've had some chances to score early.
We got points out of situations, but we didn't get seven points.
Like we would have liked to have gotten.
We got three each time right now.
I mean least we scored eight points.
First game we didn't score anything was 38 0.
I think our kids are playing hard they're playing well but marriage ban marriage?
We know they're going to Surge in the second half and we're going to try to withstand a second have surged.
Then we got to come back and try to manufacture more points.
Are good luck in the second half coach.
Back up to you, Dave.
Thank you Gerald again, halftime coming up the Battle of the Bands here.
Tucker ain't nothing over Maris, we're back with halftime festivities when we return Ain't nothing your halftime score Tucker.
Tigers lead, the merest war eagles in this for a state championship.
Now, our attention turns to the Battle of the Bands.
The Tucker High School, Marching maroon storm under the direction of band director, Forest Watkins, 60 members strong.
Let's listen in The clip for the wet day of Team performs the Donny Hathaway.
This Christmas Tucker, High School, Marching Maroons storm a, let's go downstairs, Giroud, olivieri standing by with a special guest.
Thanks a lot.
Dave, I'm here with principal James Jackson.
I understand Tucker's been open since about nineteen eighteen and currently undergoing some construction.
Tell me about what's going on over there.
Yes, sir.
We got construction going on.
We're getting the brand new building, but the unique thing is the building's going to be on the same site.
So it's kind a kind of Walter's away from the construction site, but it's been kind of hard because we lost our gym football player.
Has lost their lockers.
We can't play basketball.
Can't play volleyball in.
Addition to that, we lost our baseball field.
So we can't play home, baseball games.
So that's been a challenge.
I students lost their student parking, so they got to park at the church across the street.
So it's been a challenge, but we got to understand that it's a process.
We're gonna get a brand-new building out of their process and so, what's the building going to be like?
Once it's up and running stated art, man, 74 million dollars.
We can't wait, but we just got to be in this hard now.
But like I said, it's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Also used to be the head football coach.
So tip not have football coach assistant coach assistant.
Coach.
Tell me what the robbery like is with Mary Sue great.
Well, coach teams who played against each other against, what has 13 years, just great kids going at it, great sportsmanship, and you see that tonight just kids playing hard having fun.
Now, your team got over, the hump got to the state finals.
What would it mean for the team to go out there in the community?
It will be great for the community because we got a lot of support from them.
They support the school.
You got businesses like Taco and Matthews and & Co for brothers.
They give us unconditional support.
It will be great for the school because we are having a hard time.
But this kind of like the Christmas present that we all wish that talk about the job to Coach Stevens, is doing right now is doing a great job.
When we hired Coach Stevens behind it just for Miriam, he's a hard worker and he works as hard as any coach.
I've been around, you stare at five.
He leaves at a time, like, coach go home and see your family, man.
It found me time is important but he's a very Driven, Man, of man of Faith, which is great for our kids, I know you.
Say believe in this God believing that God but the way you carry yourself, those key rubs off on the kids.
All right, well thanks a lot.
We appreciate you spending some time with us and good luck with your team in the second half back up to you Dave.
All right, thank you.
Gerald right.
There will be back with more battle of the bands from the Georgia Dome when we return ate nothing Tucker with the halftime lead over Maris, we're back with more in a moment.
Welcome back here to the Georgia Dome, with the men.
Marist, War Eagle, marching band, Mark crowded the band, director 47-member strong with their performance title.
Make your own kind of music, the music of The Mamas & the Papas We go marching band, let's go downstairs to John Nelson who is also standing by with a special guest John here with Father Condon.
And, you know, this is old hat for you being this late in the season for football.
But talk about what the week's been like at Marist, we've had actually a fairly normal week at Marist.
You wouldn't believe it may be, but actually things have been kind of regular, we are exams were over.
Thanksgiving time.
So we don't have exams coming up.
So it's true.
We were a little bit constipated on football this week, but we also got a lot of other things done to.
So, what else is going on at Marist?
These days, it's a folks need to know about.
We've had a couple of dramatic Productions already this year, so we're real happy about that.
We usually been to about five a year.
Now, band has been out.
As you can see, they've won a lot of Awards this year.
Marching bands doing very well, it's a good year for us.
Academically we've had a lot of National Merit semifinalist.
And so, So, all the college applications are going in and we're looking for great things there too.
So, debate teams doing well, and our Academic Teams doing well as in a busy year, for the Athletics, as well.
You get a lot of first and second there, too.
We have been lucky.
We've been in the finals for every one of our fall Sports.
So we three state championships already and we'll see what happens tonight, but been in the runner-up.
So, in volleyball.
So let's talk about, Coach Chadwick, a little bit.
He's been there over 30 years head coach.
And a lot of consecutive years as appearance is what his coach Chad was meant to the mayor's Community.
Well, of course, he was embarrassed before he became varsity coach, so, he probably working on 30 years, or more already at Marist.
So, but you can see he's got a great tradition, 24 years, as head coach, and I would say anybody who's passed through the ranks at Marist.
Knows Alan.
They know what he's like.
They know some of the things that make him Specials of the things that he does and other coaches don't do.
But he actually Alan is a lot of fun.
He's serious when it comes to game time and but I think it kind of personifies the tradition of football at Marist.
Other constant, thanks for your time, good to see you again with.
Send it back upstairs to Dave and DJ with stats and highlights.
Alrighty, thank you John there and indeed a good first half of football right here, low-scoring game.
Obviously eight-nothing, Tucker with the advantage.
Over Marist, right here and of course, the looking back at that first half DJ, both teams, really quite a lot of good defense there and especially early on a lot of big hard, hit hard hitting indeed.
Of course, Jonathan Davis leading on defense there, but you can see also David Scott is an outstanding defensive Defender for Jonathan Davis is at the key player and that first half, of course, a lot on defense.
And on offense from that one individual and of course, Chris Beck right here on a big fourth down at seven conversion Rider, tucks it and run it make a good decision right here and of course, That would lead to the first three points of the Ballgame.
Write her off the foot of Ricky peacock who booted inside the lift up, right?
And it was three to nothing then later on Mary spin, deep on their own 5 and big pots.
Goes shooting through their safety farmer down right there.
And of course a little bit later, on a little scissors play to Devon Scott who broke one for over 30 yards right there and that would eventually set up another Ricky peacock field goal right here, out of the ahold of Chris Beck.
And again, there's rate, nothing score right there, peacock.
Now 8 of 9 on the season four field goals, That's a pretty good little percentage right there.
Indeed it is.
Peacock is great to have a weapon like that on special teams and they're gonna look at the numbers right there in the first half.
Again, rushing yards 116 for Tucker, 237 for Marist, and on down the list.
There, you see total yards 167 237 Tucker.
Obviously winning in the state department right now, first downs 922 and you see the penalties and of course time of possession there as well.
Two for two on fourth down, conversions as well for Tucker.
What stands out for me is the time to prevent possession.
There Tucker has control the first half and of course, Keep the ball away from Marist, well, there you have it.
The stage is set for the second half, but old robbery 18th meeting between Tucker and Maris tonight is for a state championship.
And we'll be right back with the second half and we returned live to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
Welcome back to the Georgia Dome.
Let's go downstairs to John Nelson.
John thank you.
Dave here with Coach Chadwick another tough game against the tough region rival.
No question Tucker's.
Have good football team.
We knew All along, we knew that improved a great deal and they shown in the first half, they've got us the back on our heels.
We got to go downhill and squeeze some running lanes and try to pin him down.
I mean they give coming up with too many big plays.
I getting on the perimeter too much with the wide sweeps and the quarterback bootlegs offense, we hadn't blocked, anybody, we hadn't run the ball hard.
We haven't executed very well at all.
So we got our work cut out for us right here.
And this is going to be interesting to see how the tone is set here, early in the second half.
Thanks for your time coach, good luck in the second half.
We'll send it back upstairs today even DJ All right.
Thank you, John.
Yeah.
You know, coach Chadwick.
The best winning percentage among active coaches in the state of Georgia, with 859, they're very impressive, but right now Tucker leads it.
I guess the silver lining for Marist is though.
Tucker scored three times but it's still just a one possession game.
That's an excellent point there.
When you think about it that that you know, course they've been outplayed here in the first in the first half, but one touchdown can get them right back in this ball game and that's the Saving Grace.
And in case, you're joining us late again, two field goals and a safety as how the Came about there for the Tucker Tigers there in that first half bi Maris faithful still fired up right here and hey why not?
There's still another half of football to be played between these two.
As we mentioned, of course, the 18th meeting overall between Tucker and Maris this one for the state championship.
Soccer, of course, the most wins this decade by a DeKalb County school 9810 better than second place Stephenson with who has 88 wins here and there you look at the war eagles, back onto the field, set for this second half, again, Maris came in ranked third in, For a Tucker.
At number 4, horse Tucker beat West Side.
Make a number one in the quarterfinals.
A couple weeks back now is really the closest game that the Tigers had in the postseason.
They've pretty much cruise through meanwhile Maris with the couple emotional wins their even their round to match up against Sequoia, was a tough one.
2812 it was closer than that in the fourth quarter, Mount Zion, a one point win 3433.
They LED Mount Zion squared late though and then of course, last because we all know that big fourth down from the 4-yard line there, almond on the end around.
In the game, I believe hitting the pile on their Farm, of course, with 125 yards in that game on 22 carries.
But of course, Maris had to overcome a couple of fumbles, a blocked punt.
But that just goes to show you this as a team that can overcome adversity.
So, ate nothing right now.
Certainly not anything insurmountable for this War Eagle team.
Make no bones about it though.
The Tucker defense deserve some credit of course keeping Maris out of the end zone but you know those guys up front and maintaining that line of scrimmage and of course Jonathan Davis.
And his his posse number 12, Justin bour the junior kicker will Boot It Away here for the war eagles.
Won the toss and elected to receive in the first half.
Tigers will send rate Calhoun back deep and you'll make the grab eight yards Deep In The End Zone it will come out to the 20 and again Noah no returns.
They're allowed in high school football.
Once the ball breaks the plane of the goal line there.
So Calhoun just loosening up.
If anything to go back and get that football there, you look at Chris back, you see his numbers right there again, three of nine, passing 51 yards by the a senior but he's made some good decisions and is played better really than those the statue.
Absolutely.
I was going to say that those stats aren't indicative of what he's been able to do for this.
Tiger football football team here in the first half.
But you know what?
He's playing like a leader in this six, look like everybody's feeding off of them.
So, here we go.
The Tigers have put together a couple of long drives there, in that first half, one from her own 12-yard line that resulted in one of those field goals made about nine minutes off the clock.
It is great and Calhoun out of the locker room at his first Carry is good for eight or nine yards, and I'ma tell you right now, he was a shoestring tackle away from going to the house.
Take a look here.
Taking the handoff in upside and of course that play right there at number 38, was the touchdown saving tackle, that was Spencer Mitchell at a nice watch.
Either, by kiba's Middlebrook still senior lineman there, you look at Calhoun's numbers in the first half, eight, Russia's 37 yards, second and short second, and one right here.
In fact, Winds near son back, we'll keep it as first down yardage number.
24, They're John crochet the senior wrapping them up around the ankles but he Tigers move the sticks.
There's an urgency that I'm seeing in this Tucker.
Tigers offense, here, it goes to any old and everything that I've known and been around football.
It seems like when you come out in the second half and the first couple of minutes you will keep you can find out, you know, who's really, really going to control the tempo and this is you seeing the Tucker's setting.
An example, they're coming out like gangbusters first in Tim Tigers with two receivers to the right.
And this time a direct snap, again, debit Scott lining up at the quarterback there and I, we've seen that offense a lot at the Collegiate level.
I guess they called the Wildcat.
I mean, it's been nicknamed a billion, different things right there, but that time Scott lined up there in the backfield, took the snap to watch the direct snap.
He takes their, he finds them a hole there and explodes accelerates up, inside picking up some excellent.
Yardage stop made by Patrick Sullivan.
Tucker, force, and missed the playoffs in.
2006 just two years ago last year.
Of course here in the Dome of the semi-finals of.
Now here at the state championship.
As you see Scott had a good first half as well.
Once again, tigers on the move out across their own 45 years, the pitch to Davis follows his blockers.
They're trying to get to the outside and blow, he uses that stiff arm.
So well there again forced out by almond the corner but not before pretty good pickup.
You talking about a young man that benches over 335 pounds and you can tell on that stiff arm right there.
He was able to just put it on him and Get the defender off of him.
But this is a young man while he's small 5859 or so 190 pounds but he is.
I'm telling you folks, he's one of the strongest players in high school football ticket.
Look at this stiff arm.
He's gonna stick it out there that I believe he benches over 300 pounds.
Well, he's fun to watch, that's for sure.
He's quick second down and four right here.
Wilder.
The Man in Motion, going to swing out a little pass right here and asking to be Sanders.
Chris Sanders.
Number 14, breaks some tackles all the way down to the 30 goes, Chris Sanders, the sophomore wideout, who came back, got the aquick hitter there and motored his way to a first down.
Another impressive.
Impressive past from the quarterback.
Take a look here and he's just raises up.
Throws a dark right out there in the flats and of course, let the athlete.
All the work for the 24 Orinda Wilder in the aligned up there on that last play will back up both.
The halfback positions here in this formation is first in 10 and this time end of the middle Devon, Scott around the ankles right there.
Nice job at look like Randy.
Carol number 64, the junior who was able to wrap them up there and hang on.
Very little gain, all that play for the Tigers.
Another very impressive, long drive by the Tucker offense.
Look at that mirrors.
War Eagle defense tried to stiff and right here to defensive touchdowns on the year.
See the guys across the front right here, they've been real well cause they have it.
They're lying, open a boost for 3 cheats.
And guys up here tonight obviously And here's again a snap to Scott who lines up in his drug down, nice job there indeed.
And once again that same man, ever 64, Randy Carol, with back-to-back tackles up front there and he's fired up.
Tell you what that you're going to see.
You know, these guys are not afraid to compete through blocks and of course, several Blue Hats around the football direct snap there.
Watch watch the big man, jump over Bowie, a writer make this actually came out of nowhere, jump right over the top of them.
You expect that from a more Nimble back to see the third down conversions there.
Once again, three of six Tucker at 50% marasmus 104 And it's on.
I got to be called by the Tigers right here.
849 left in this third period, Tucker again up eight.
Nothing at all the group.
Once again and try to get that playing a little bit quicker right there.
I think they had to burn the time out.
Go ahead and take a quick time out.
We'll be right back with 849 on the clock here in the third period.
Well earlier this year, the Maris war eagles, celebrated 600-plus wins in school history.
The only Metro Atlanta area school to achieve that feat and certainly want to congratulate Marist.
Of course the war eagles, a storied program really in the state of Georgia, not just the metro area, they're 600.
Plus wins that says a lot about their tradition.
They've been playing football for a long time and a lot of success over that man right there.
Absolutely, this is Scrappy Bunch.
You can tell by the way, they're playing defensive football right now down eight points.
But they are playing to stay in this game.
Third down and nine War Eagle defense needs.
A big play right here.
Meanwhile, Tucker trying to convert their 50% from third down back again rolling.
Right fires throws.
He's got a man complete at the 15th and that is going to be good enough for a first down AJ, Bowie, you know, we've been talking about the classes that Becca's been throwing, he didn't, he only beat in the role for 600 yards.
If you didn't 545 yards and passing this year.
Eight touchdowns.
But today he's put on a clinic.
Throwing the football getting the ball to the open receivers.
And you know, I wouldn't believe coming into this game that he only threw for five hundred and forty-five yards this year.
The way he's performed as far as the mechanics.
The way he handles himself, his Poise.
I really am impressed with this Young quarterback.
Now Becca's thrown 10 passes here tonight.
They've had games where they had only thrown at maybe a timer to and here's Davis trying to get around the corner but he's going to be eight up and stays on his feet.
Well, it ain't over till it's over with and Davis is still running flag down and all that for a seven-yard loss than a penalty flag.
All the way back at the 33.
So you what, wow, Sam McNerney defensive back made this play.
He was able to contain Davis and calls him to reverse field.
Walk in the back.
There looks like on Tucker.
So again, several times here, you know the Tigers have not had a problem, moving the football between the 20s, but inside that Red Zone, some penalties mayor's defense, of course, making some plays behind the line of scrimmage right there.
And now, all of a sudden First and Ten from the 15 is going to be first of a mile and a half.
Rusty win.
Again, the headband here tonight with you fall right there, ball all the way back, TJ, the 44.
Yeah, you seeing a little bit momentum shift here, that Swagger.
That the Tigers had a few minutes ago is not looking.
This is smooth.
And you can tell by the comments that coach Chad would make it.
Of course.
Right after halftime that died.
He probably gave him a good tongue.
Lashing first down and 39 Calhoun and motion back.
Look at the throwback to him, has a man that is Calhoun and then knocked Away.
Great play defensively by Jimbo, Hannah claw, Panic law had an opportunity.
Be there to put his team Within Reach but again, great defensive effort there.
I like the way that the mayor's team is rising to the occasion.
The Warriors are doing anything right now.
As you see here, there's the hair away from a quick pic 64.
Good idea by the Tucker offense, but again, that mirrors defense was sitting on the play, they read it perfectly particularly Chanukah, on boy, if he comes down with that thing, he's got some pasture in front of them.
Absolutely second down and I'm high.
Yes, receiver wad of top back with to in the backfield they're going to hand it off left side there, Devon Scott not much room there at, although nice job by that, were edel defense once again, who came shooting through there?
I was Brady Herman lamb back around the play.
Big number 44 right there, the senior tight end and linebacker with the stop.
So now, third down and long right here, See her man over there but he's now that's a football player right there.
I'll tell you what it has enough eye black on.
I think, see ya.
We've seen that a lot here tonight.
A lot of these players and teams boy, they've been taking it on there.
I could not wear that on my face.
These guys smudge it all all over their cheeks obvious passing situation right here, but let's see what the Tigers decide to do.
He'll keep it on the ground.
Great, and Calhoun has hit hard and there's that middle linebacker.
We were talking about Keller Carlock.
These w**** was all over.
That boy Calhoun.
Going nowhere in.
Its fourth down of the Tigers will Trot on the button unit.
Take a look at this hit here, don't try it at home.
Great form, Tackle, by car lock.
And you know what?
I get a feeling that that momentum is starting to shift back to the other side, towards the mirror side, agree with you right there, indeed.
The Tigers though have a chance right here though to pin mirrors deep in their own territory.
Getting Chris Beck also handles the upon agoutis right here to back deep for the war eagles.
Go to have a low snap.
Gets it away though.
Good high kick fair catch signal ap11.
Nice job there by Patrick Sullivan with the fair Catch and so the war eagles have it now after a stop on, the Tigers will go back on offense.
Well you have to take this opportunity to commend the mayor of Defense.
Those big guys up front.
Carol.
You sit would Urban.
I mean these guys are setting the tone.
I mean these they've been playing hard all and they've been on the field a long time.
Yeah.
Go on South Korea's.
Pretty much came out of the locker room with that drive.
Right?
There is movement over on the left side.
Look like big number 70 right there.
Mitchell Gann may have come out of the stands false start offense, five-yard penalty, first down, you know DJ, we haven't talked a lot about the offensive linemen here tonight but they've all done a good job for both sides.
Therefore Samaras to pfeffer, hyphen dordogne Gannon Williams, the Interior right here for soccer, you got tailored more Latham, Davis, Middlebrooks those guys working in there.
Unfortunately, you don't always call unless they jump offsides, go to those guys have been working and now look at this.
Double tight farmer going to keep right here.
And pick up a couple there.
Maybe I'll tell you what.
I had a tough time, get back to the line of scrimmage, table off the yard good hit.
Something about Marcus Williams coming up.
Again, you know, when you're playing against this triple option, you can you know you just can't get overconfident, you just got to continue and this is the point in the Ballgame.
When guys, get a little tired or guys get a little overconfident and they don't carry out their the execute their defensive assignment.
So be real crucial here to see if Tucker could continue on the defensive side to continue to execute their defensive.
That is all the time of possession, they're 22 minutes, protector is you mentioned there in the first half.
That certainly the thing that stood out there, DJ if you see Run their over the right side, that's Patrick Sullivan.
Who we haven't talked a lot about offensively here tonight, Sullivan.
Little picks up about 7 yards.
They're all set up third down and about three three-and-a-half stop made by quit ground.
But again, you see, I just, you know, just a tackle away from breaking the long game.
This triple option is is outstanding, but you got to keep playing.
You got to play until the whistle is blown, and you got to play until every second has ticked off that clock.
Four shutouts defensively for the Tucker Tigers.
This year to try to make it five right here, the state championship.
Meanwhile, a big third down right here for the Warriors.
Try to keep this drive alive can Connors is the fullback and this time farmer.
Look at the throw and that one going to be knocked away.
Big defensive play right there by Marcus Williams.
The War Eagle faithful, wanting a little bit of contact here and the boy, that was a close play.
Timed it That was the second play in this series, that Marcus Williams made a big play.
Take a look at it here.
He not fooling anybody on that fake up and throwing the ball out there in the flash.
Excellent coverage by Williams.
You can hear the Boos raining down from the Maris faithful right there, but it was a real Buzz ride on it.
And, you know, Williams had a hand in there.
Yes, of course, Herman was the intended target, right there.
Brady Herman, the tight end and now Marys will have to punt it away.
Regency Williamson.
It's like he's headed to South Alabama there and there, you look at Jonathan Davis who stands right at Midfield and Devon.
Scott is also back there as well.
Tucker stands to get some valuable fuel position right here.
Good point, What's going to drive?
Devon Scott, way back and sucker, we'll just have to watch that one.
It will roll inside the 30, big change in field position right there, indeed in a great bunt by Williamson and you know why he's a college Prospect.
Well, we need viewers like you to help support the live broadcast of these games.
Now, you can show your support by becoming a member of Georgia, public television, simply call 1-866-931-6190.
Now, thank you very much for supporting Georgia, public broadcasting, wall-to-wall action.
Here again, this weekend, two games here tonight, of course, three more tomorrow, single a 3A and 5A on Saturday.
Should be a lot of fun.
Looking forward to it.
Congratulations to Buford.
I already got one Champion out of Way, their state championship team, their place a good football in the early going.
4521 winter over Calhoun here earlier tonight me while he rats ate nothing Tucker and the Tigers back on offense.
He was great.
And Calhoun, say what Calhoun always looks like, he's just one step away from from taking it to the house right there.
He picks up five more.
You hold your breath every time he gets the ball in his hands.
I tell you ain't even a 2-yard run is so explosive because he's breaking tackles and all he needs is a crease killer car lock on the play.
You talked about the success of these programs, DJ and it shows at the college level Tucker with 20.
It's college players currently Maris with 20.
You know, we saw Beaufort earlier tonight with 31.
See the success, they've had, it's no wonder they've turned out so many great athletes.
Second down and six Scott's of the near side and motion.
Here's Chris Sanders on the quick hitter makes the grab bounces off of it hit.
It's going to be shy of the first down by yard or two, but a good play there on second down for Tucker.
Nice job of Sanders is getting the extra yards after the catch.
You know, a lot of receivers that this just satisfied with catching the ball, hit the spot.
But you know, what is what you do, after the, you catch the ball and you can see that get the ball into the hands of Sanders and he's going to take a big Here.
But you just got to spend right off him and get an additional 34 yards.
Sanders, just a sophomore, you know, a young guy coming in here in the dome.
Tell you what?
It's got to be exciting overwhelming.
I don't know.
What's the, what's the word?
I'm sure he's excited.
Third one right here and back again, will sneak it forward as he did.
A couple of times they're in the first half to pick up the first down and I believe he's got the spot.
I tell you what, though?
There's no quit in that meris War Eagle defense.
They're scrapping.
Well, they made plays when they've had to and that's been the thing.
Even you look back through the last four rounds of the playoffs again, they shut out north gate and around one made some plays against the koi when they had to Mount.
Zion did just enough there and of course against Rome held a good Rome wolves team just 17 points for coming down to the final play in that one mile Tucker's we've talked about the wolves have been dominant really through the postseason.
Both offensively and defensively first down at the 40 of those horses up front have been one of the main reasons.
There's a Take it there.
Bobby a war eagles, there.
That was big number 80, Jeff, Irvin, the senior who have called several times through tonight.
So, you know, the scrappy play by both teams.
Obviously, when you look at the head coaches and I'm sure that, you know, you always hear that, you know, the the team is an extension of the head coach to guide the top.
And of course, with the much respect in the much pedigree that coach Chad would have it.
Of course, right across the sidelines.
We already talked about the pedigree of of Coach Stevens and these teams both are hard-nosed and Scrappy.
The 38 Mitchell, their the tackling leader last year, another great season again.
This year, second down and nine back, rolling will fire down field and just threw that one out of bounds.
Good decision right there.
No, one opened good coverage by that marriage, secondary.
And I'll tell you what, that's really been the spring for the defense this year, eight interceptions, very opportunistic.
And it's real easy to fall into a trap because they mix up some coverages.
They do a good job back there.
In fact, smartly just threw that one away.
Well, he certainly didn't have anybody We saw a couple of coverage plays like that kind of attributed to the 349 there.
I think of the first half by back, you know, you kind of have to throw some balls away with no one's open and I credit the mirror, secondary for that right, guys?
Have gotten it done all year long hand of klaw, almond, McNerney, Sullivan.
All those guys of course making plays here tonight.
It's an ass Tucker with a third and nine just across their own.
40 back again showing Pass firing down the field.
It's a neuro nearly intercepted in, and out of the hands of Kevin.
Almond, the senior that was the play that I'm sure they're looking for to get them back in this ball game.
On the run back.
Just simply.
Couldn't come up with it.
Boy, I'll tell you what he makes that play right there and he's got little bit of room there in front.
There's probably sets up shop inside Tucker territory, but as it is the attackers will be able to boot it away here to back deep.
Once again for Maris Sullivan, one of them give you a Tucker Potter is Chris Beck.
Gets it away a little bit of a low liner.
This might be returnable and hit immediately.
Great job there, indeed, by number 21, Bernard Crawford, the a senior down on special teams not a whole lot of real estate there at all for the Orioles on that button return.
But Maris does get the football back.
They've held Tucker here so far in this third quarter and now they've got another shot and a game, like this special teams are very important.
Here's a look at the games tomorrow.
Starting with class A at 2 p.m. 12 and 2 verses 14 and oh Wesley Wolves in a manual County Institute right there.
Again, ECI going at it head-to-head and of course, in the AAA action a little bit later on there.
Of course, after that one, you've got the Flowery Branch in Cairo, it's going to be a good matchup.
First and Ten farmer going to pitch it up this time.
Number 13, Sam McNerney on the Kerry will take it out of bounds.
Good game there on first down Brewster on the play, coming up from the secondary position there.
And again, this is still maintaining, you know, it's getting late in the Ballgame and I know everybody's getting tired, but you still have to, you know, reach a keys and take care of your responsibilities.
Don't try to do too much on the defensive side.
When you going up against 13 and 0 against 12 and 2, right there.
Again, Flowery Branch has we talked about unranked coming in Cairo, of course, number one, trying to go wire-to-wire in that position.
Should be a good one tomorrow at 5:00.
Here's second down and five.
And this time farmer going to swing it out right here on the option.
That's Sullivan trying to turn the corner.
Just so, and he will have first down yardage up at the 45, Marcus Williams on the tackle there, and he did a great job of his athletic ability because he was got Stutter Step.
Actually, he got faked out of the play, but he was able to get enough speed and quickness to recover your, take a look here, Farmer on the pitch.
And you see that Stutter Step, Right normally will get up the deep as it play out of position.
But the athletic ability Defensive back allowed him to make that play and farmer so tough that you see the shot he took behind that play when he left the foot but you got to hang in there.
Then you got to take that he did.
First and Ten ball at the 46.
Straight Ahead.
Matt.
Connors with some real estate into Tucker territory at the 45 still driving.
Right there, they're going to give them inside the 44, good enough for a first down, it does appear in Connors a little bit quiet here.
Yeah, yeah, you've been quiet.
He's been quiet.
And he's has over 700 yards and he's the, no, he's um, he's one of the Mainstays in this triple option here.
You know, as he goes and the course Parmer, the quarterback.
They are running a tough up inside to Those outside Lanes, they're going to look at the office of comparison, right there.
Again plays obviously in favor of Tucker, 5221 237 yards of 72 and 13 first downs for the Tigers.
But right now it's Marisol, the move trying to even that up a little bit still trailing by just one possession and farmer diving for what he could get.
Right there, picks up about three or four yards around first, down still tackle made by Judge James vultures South more, getting some playing time.
Here's the five, a game tomorrow night 8:00 and 12:00 and to Peachtree Ridge lions, taking on the 14 and 0, Camden County Wildcats.
Again tomorrow at 8 p.m. live right here on GPB looking forward to that one and get everybody 14 and 0 against 12 and 2.
Except for this one, a pair of 13 and one squaring off here tonight at Marist and Tucker two teams that go way back.
Second and eight Straight Ahead.
Give this time few yards there.
But, you know, DJ you alluded to it.
I mean, the momentum a little bit.
You can see it shifting someone here because, you know, we saw that in the first half there, there was nothing there.
Now I'm sudden 34 yards of Pop here and Mary's moving right along on schedule and that is it through the end of three quarters.
Still ate nothing Tucker leads Maris, but still another 12 minutes left to be decided here inside the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
We'll be right back.
Back here, inside the Georgia Dome and it's placekicker.
Ricky, peacock has been the difference in this ballgame two field goals.
He now has five field goals in this postseason for Tucker and they lead it ate, nothing a safety included, but it is Marist with a third five, and on the Move, still down, just one possession technically and here's Farmer on the keepers straight ahead and he will have the first down to the Tucker.
32 can Dave Garner DJ Jones with you?
Jon Nelson?
Jared Oliveira in the Cylon here tonight, along with the rest of our Georgia public broadcasting team and we welcome you to our live.
Coverage and are you look at the mirrors faithful who are beginning to get going here?
A little bit since thing that the tide starting to term and you can look at all of this lopsided time of possession yardage by Tucker and you see that this only a touchdown and a two-point conversion to tie this game up.
Look at here is right there.
Again, one of those outside linebackers.
Again, Tucker with a very quick defense right here first and 10.
As we open up the fourth quarter, Quick Pitch right here.
Trying to turn the corner right there.
That's McNerney.
But a nice job right there by Williams, who came up to Make the Hitler.
We've seen Marcus Williams that safety come up and make a lot of plays tonight, right at the line that one in the backfield.
You watch this thing of course, and a little bubble of the snap there.
But I was able to try to get outside.
But he the speed of this Tucker defense, makes it almost impossible for marriage to get outside.
Defensive unit has been tough here.
Tonight, you see Quentin Brown, number 88 has been set up along the line there.
You look at Williams these senior second down and 11, Pretty fast moving game here tonight with both teams primarily keeping it on the ground although it has been Tucker.
Surprisingly, it was throwing the football.
Lot here tonight, here's farmer fires down.
Field has a man there with that one sails out of bounds good coverage there by Williams that were intended for Patrick Sullivan, but he was covered up.
Nice job there.
Of course, you know, just airing it out.
Of course.
Trying to keep the defense honest.
You know, they've been plowing away up inside and try to get outside and throw a pass in there here and there just to keep The defense honest.
See Farmers spinning to the right side there.
And he has the wherewithal, the throw the ball over, you know, where no one else.
If these receiver can't get it, nobody that the defender, surely can't get it.
Look at Farmer right there.
How about the great camera work here.
It's a tie by our GPB crew to have been on it.
How standing here is third and 11 farmer?
Again looking to the are looking back to the other side of the field.
Right there has a man and unintentional contact right there.
If you will, you saw Jonathan Davis who lost his footing and in the Says, they are receiver, tripped over Davis.
Running downfield right there, and so no call, it wasn't intentional.
I mean, Davis lost his footing, and again, a great throwback here across the field, you normally wouldn't do that.
But again, really nobody was fooled.
Dave has lost his footing and his receiver Connor tripped over it.
Matt Connors again, the full back out of the backfield there.
And now it is fourth down and this is going to be a 50-yard field goal attempt right here.
For Marist.
Can Justin Moore, the placekicker?
Snap the kick, he's got the leg and it is through there.
Wow.
50-yard field, goal by Justin Moore who's now six of eight on the year.
And that's a big one right there.
It makes it 8.
3 gives the war eagles, their first points of the night here at the 11:19 mark of this fourth quarter.
Dave, that was huge.
I don't know in high school football and round my neck of the state.
Well, actually, we got a flag on the field but you know what?
Take a look at it again.
Yep.
Displacing the kicker field goal is good.
The building will be enforced on the kickoff.
Five-yard, as I was saying in my neck of the woods down in Columbus, Georgia East, Alabama, West Central, Georgia kickers, like this we would never see anything.
I mean it's that was unreal unreal.
50-yard field goal.
You know, we talk about all the hard hit you.
No offense defense.
All that.
This game is being decided by the the kicker's here tonight.
Yes.
They're going to look at the scoring drive, 10 plays, 35 yards, 227 off the clock, and then, of course, more connecting from 50 yards out.
So now it's back to a just a five point ballgame right here and so a touchdown puts you up pretty good.
You know, I'd be willing to bet that that might be close to some kind of record there.
A 50-yard field goal in the dome and High School play.
You know, we actually saw, I'm trying to go off memory here a little bit but I'm here is to actually hit it, 50-yard, put the game in overtime, one year against Thomas, County Central right here, in San Diego member of the assembly finals.
And here's another look at it right here from the near hash that's big-time.
Wow.
That is big time.
Was like I had a tea under that thing.
And they're gonna look at more Hua now, kick it off.
Both kickers showing leg and you know we were talking during the break to his you see, Drake Calhoun bag, deep Ricky peacock was also bhutanam from about 40 45 in warm-ups there as well.
So both these kickers have good legs on a a low liner and that one will go into the end zone right there.
So Tucker will have it half the 20 still 11:19 to go in this ball game at his up for grabs, Apes, 823 who'da, thunk it.
That's not even a high scoring baseball.
So Chris Beck will go back to work right here for the Tucker.
Tigers again, their third semi-final and six years they were here in 2003 against Statesboro lost 27-24 there.
And of course, we're here last year against Northside Warner Robins And of course fell by three after leading 28-7 at the break.
Meanwhile merest as we talk about claiming there's 600 win earlier this season as a a program and Jonathan Davis is hit right off the bat.
It I'll tell you what, DJ, this is a different merest defense than what we saw there.
In that first half, cold, Becker big hit on Davis, Davis is usually doing the hitting.
I'll tell you what it is.
Been a lot tougher for Tucker here in a second half.
And as you mentioned, you pretty much throughout all the time of possession, all the yardage, everything else, I mean, it's hate 23, that's right.
One possession game right here.
Tigers now, trying to generate some offense back on the other end right here.
And Scott again lining up at QB.
Is he did a couple of times there in that first to happen.
He's going nowhere, maybe a yard and that's it.
Devon Scott again lining their lining back up their QB as we saw once again, take a look at this defensive front by the mayor's war eagles.
Spencer Michels.
Number 38, he is senior once again with another hit and also Brady Herman their number 44 in your frame and all of a sudden, you kind of see the confidence to building a little bit.
Oh yeah.
So we're looking fences.
Well, Mary's has the Swagger now.
So now, here's Beck.
Rolling right under pressure throws back into the middle of field.
Has a man complete at the 32 and that will be good enough for a first down, James vaughters the tight end had to go down and get it but made a good grab.
I think a lot of credit has to go to voters because he had to make sure that he got enough yardage on his route.
So that when he was able to catch the balls, he had enough for the first down.
Go back, you know, and I would be willing to bet right through the voters.
Was not the first option for Beck on that play.
You can kind of see them working through this progression in a little bit right back into the middle of field that's dangerous.
Play that got it to go total yards by half.
You can see it right there.
Tucker.
Against deal with the numbers in their favor, in both halves.
And the football right here.
Pick diving ahead though will pick up a couple.
You know one thing I think DJ that if your Tucker you really can't do right now is get complacent.
There's still 9:20 left in this game.
You've got to continue to attack and fight, which is what they're doing, but you certainly can't sit here and try to run the clock out at this point.
You're not really there yet.
You got to play to win.
You can't play safe, and that's what I think you were saying in a sense.
You, right?
You're gonna keep doing what they're doing.
I notice to go into, obviously, the direct snap versus their traditional offense, but they think they've had a heck of a game.
They've Chopped up a lot of yardage and I expected to continue to do the same.
Second down and nine under nine minutes to play in the game.
Scott and motion back again, rolling right now.
Under trouble gets rid of it, just throws it out of bounds, no one there incomplete.
And it will be third and long.
I don't know what Maris is doing, but I'm looking, as, Beckett rolls out and I look into the secondary.
And I don't see, I see a couple of Route Runners but I don't see anybody open.
Nobody's open eat.
They're doing a heck of a job in the secondary role of mayors.
Coach Franklin, Stephens, right there.
Focused.
I just see the third down conversion there against six of 11 tonight for Tucker.
That's the amaris is going to continue with the Swagger that they have.
That big number 68 right there.
The center Carl Taylor.
Here's Scott left side, breaks the tackle still on his feet across the 40 and going to be right at that first down marker and I believe you got it by a half yard.
Tell you that young man has had some electrifying runs tonight.
I mean they might not have been long but he is looting people.
He's bouncing off of people spinning off of people.
Great.
Young running back right there.
Boy, third down and nine.
They keep it on the ground and Scott is able to pick up the first down.
Take a look at this guy.
Getting the handoff up the inside there.
He jumps over one guy spins out of a tackle breaks another tackle.
And again, using the power, you saw everything.
You know, 5 dog, going different elements of in that one run 11.
Russia's 51 yards for the junior.
Now he will come out of the timeout and I believe they're going to throw the flag before it happened.
Tucker broke the huddle with 12 men there.
Scott, tried to come off the field.
The coaches saw it.
Try to call a timeout, but I don't think they got it.
see right there again, Scott I would love to know what his short shuttle time.
Was that 20?
20 yards, short, shuttle is a great way to get a time of quickness and now, you know, him the way he's able to change direction, man, he eat up.
I'm sure his time would probably rival.
Some of the best Franklin Stevens again.
26 and two and two years.
Sending the plan right there with Chris Beck has done a great job and you know course it half time they're talking to the principal and talking about the disciplinarian.
Did he is and in bringing that philosophy in that work ethic to this program, right here is certainly done a remarkable job Indeed first down at 15, after the five-yard penalty, another scissors play right here.
This time going to Calhoun stays on his feet, up across the 45.
You see the war eagles, reach it in there, trying to strip that football.
That's what you teach right there.
You're absolutely right.
But also you also have to be disciplined enough to make sure to somebody's going to tackle them.
Yeah because a guy like Calhoun who is if you don't put a hat on him, I mentioned earlier, he could take it to the house.
Yet the first three bodies need to wrap up.
A yes, in the fourth or fifth guy in there yet.
He's the trip that football away.
Here's another.
Look at that.
Little scissors play Calhoun up inside breaks a tackle and you can see those blue hats.
Look at McNerney.
Yes seen.
Yeah, the one trying to rip it out of there, McNerney, of course was the starting quarterback when the season started before farmer I got the job and that really allowed McNerney though to focus on defense and also as a blocking bag this time little misdirection Scott trying to bounce it outside, unable to do so there's Mitchell 38 with the stop.
Tell you what that's all.
You know.
This is Scrappy bunch out there.
I can't keep seeing it enough.
But the play that just was made there by Spencer Mitchell there, even though it's you don't make that play.
You know, they got my still be running, right?
Here's another look at it, feel level.
Little quick trap back up inside a counter trap.
And you know, you saw the Ali was coming away with been coming right at you 1994 the last home playoff loss.
For Marist, guess who it was against Tucker?
Another tidbit in this series, but this one, of course, tonight for the state championship, here's back and he will slip out of one.
Tackler will have the first down a great effort, brought down by McNerney on the far side.
But what a second effort there, by Chris Beck you to see him drop his shouldered.
And that's it.
I took a look at the end of this play, he's gonna get outside.
He can't can't find a receiver.
So he's going to tuck it and run.
As he has done all day, look at him, lower his shoulder, and get the extra yardage.
That's a quarterback folks.
And when you see your quarterback that aggressive that physical that didn't do anything to you as a teammate then, you know, you're not alive 4:44.
First down Edge for Tucker in this football game down to six minutes, goes the clock here, the Tigers were still on the move, not much on that, play, good job by mirrors to front.
I'm talking about three or four minutes ago, that the clock really wasn't a factor.
Well, now that is under 6 and Tucker, of course, As the football right here, they could conceivably just about run this clock out, you're right without even putting up any points, but it's not that simple.
That mean a lot has to happen.
Back has to continue to you know, to take care of the football and you know again because at any point in time of the turnover could really put merits in a great position, still five and a half ago, you know, he jie you and I talked a lot before this came about what to expect, you know, and we we thought it'd be a close ballgame either way.
Yes.
And but I went through it, be, this low scoring.
Of the game has really credit.
Both defense is for that.
Here's Calhoun back in the middle.
Watch out Calhoun, a step away right there.
And he's going to have about 10 yards there and what appears to be another Tucker first down, and the difference in this play, being a tenured game versus a 40 yard touchdown.
When you look at the pursuit angles that have been taken by the mayor's defensive players there, everybody's running to the football, everybody's running to the football.
And it takes that when you have the explosive backs that Tucker has brought into the game tonight.
Jeff the Cody with that last stop there.
As we mentioned earlier tonight to Cody one of seven to Cody sons who has come through this Maris program.
Certainly a family affair.
There are you look at big number number 80 there in your frame?
Again, that's Jeff.
Urban a guy.
We talked a lot about tonight and it will indeed be a tiger first down.
It sucker leads the series 10-7 between these two.
Of course, Marist.
One earlier this year, thirty eight to nothing.
Wow, but here tonight it's Tucker leading 823 with now under five minutes left here.
Look at the band's.
What see what they have, a lot of fun.
What a show to half time while you're out of the marching bands, they're all the administration and faculty from both of these schools.
Really a celebration of high school football here tonight and certainly a celebration of the accomplishments of these two.
Dory programs.
There you, look at Beck's numbers here tonight, seven to Seventeen, ninety, nine yards.
Now, 10 brushes and also some good yardage as well, to go with them.
Here's Scott, putting it back in but not much there.
Nice job.
Almond number 17 there, along with number 23, cold Becker, to make sure that Scott went down.
Tell you what Scott?
Just continues to amaze me was able to take that hand off going left.
Put his left foot into the ground and cut back inside there with it.
Will you know with quickness that It's just unheard of in high school.
What's a what that mirrors defense is really playing well, considering how long they've been on the field here tonight?
You're right man I mean it's remarkable you're absolutely right and it's just you can credit that to the conditioning that coach Chadwick.
I'm sure brought this team.
No, this is the 15th week of the football season in these guys are late in the Ballgame of the state championship and they're still playing hard second and eight.
Back trying to move is unable to get outside and there's Becker.
Once again, gold Becker number 23 with back-to-back stops for this War Eagle defense, and the clock will stop here with 342 left a timeout called by Marist.
The trying to keep some time on the aboard here if they're able to make a stop.
It's good time out.
18, really the magic number here.
DJ, we talked about 18 meetings between these two.
It's also the 18th time today Championship has been a rematch of a regular season matchup as well, gate, three, our score here, 342 left in the fourth period, and many of the players participating in these GHSA Championship, will be playing in the annual Georgia Athletic.
Coaches association is north-south All-Star game.
Now this will be your last chance to see some of joy.
The senior football standouts and high school competition.
This year's event will take place on Monday.
December 29th at Memorial Stadium in Columbus and kick off a scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
I know that's your neck of the woods there, I will be there.
It's always a great game.
Of course, some of the best talent in my opinion, in the country is on display.
Yes, people always talked a lot about the Texas and Florida and so forth, but to me, Georgia, high school football and I know it might be a little biased, a little bias there, but it certainly top notch in my opinion.
Well, you know what we talked about that?
I mean, I did a little research and then, you know, they ranked 4th when you talk about, you know, California and Florida and, you know, one other state that it's in my mind now, but state of Georgia ranks, fourth, as far as prospection football players coming out that's doing well at the next level.
So after the war eagle timeout, third down and long and a reception Davis on the catch stays on his feet, trying to stay in bounce, steps out there going to Mark him at the 16 and that is good enough for a first down.
Also a big play right there Patrick Sullivan finally able to bring Davis down but we've he's been kind of quiet on the offensive side here in the second half.
What's a big reception right there?
And now Chris Beck is over 100 yards passing on the night.
Look at the Poise that that has anything delivering That Bass there, too.
Jonathan Davis play fake rolling, right?
Dump it right in there in the basket.
Stepped out right there indeed, but it will be first down ball just outside the 15th through Tucker.
That clock now, becoming a factor and Davis leaped over the Apollo right there and try to keep his footing.
You can tell him that's what he was going for right there and just unable to do so.
But another good player, I first had to pick up some yardage and to keep the clock rolling shoes.
Ring Tackle by Cold Becker Davis.
Of course, as we mentioned, its third straight semi-final game last week, third straight appearance inside the Georgia Dome, in three years.
Permit again.
Number 44, the defensive captain call into place here.
This Paris defense.
Now, with their backs against the wall, they need a big stop right here.
It's an NFL players have come from meris, Tucker.
Awesome with, for, in the NFL, we already talked about their college.
Layers and here's Davis trying to turn the corner.
10 5 touchdown, Jonathan Davis nice run by Davis beating the defender to the corner of the to the pylon actually is a look at it coming right at you he gets to the outside and settle race uses a stiff arm And do for the pylon nice run.
First touchdown of the ball game for either team and now Ricky peacock will try to add the p80 with 247 left here in this fourth period.
And he does.
So, 2:45 the Tucker Tigers lead it and they're just 247 away from the school's first ever state championship.
Here's another look at it.
It's back again.
Handing off Davis, bouncing it outside and stretching out, great effort, right there with two minutes and 47 seconds remaining.
It's going to have, you know, they have to have a mayor's has to have two scores.
I don't know if the clock is going to be their friend and this one.
So now Tucker again you scoring Drive 16 plays, 80 yards 832, they've had a couple of those kind of drives here tonight, and of course, Davis with the 11-yard touchdown run.
Or what a season for that young man.
What a career?
And I know the folks at soccer, certainly going to miss Jonathan Davis and if he, he asked, and I'm sure he tell you his offensive line is, give him all the credit there for the way they've blocked here.
Indeed.
He's just that kind of player there.
You look at his night here, 13, Russia's, 52 yards, and a touchdown.
Certainly not like we've seen him in every game of this year and throughout the playoffs.
But again, the big play right here at the end and that offense, getting it done.
And they'll kick off by peacock in the endzone.
Samaras now will come out to the 20 with 247 to work with.
But again, it's back to a two possession game.
So they're gonna have to score twice in a hurry.
You're right.
Here we do.
DJ, this would be a lot different game coming in and I think that both teams knew that and I think that both teams try to put this game behind them for Maris.
They didn't want to remember beating him 30 at them.
They want to play them like it was just another game in Chris Tucker.
Certainly knew that they were improved and not going to take anything for granted, the mayor's going to the spread offense.
Tucker going to spread defense.
Do the splits on those guys and take him down.
Yep, nowhere for cow farmer to go with the football botters, number 9, several other guys in there as well.
Pots.
Of course, he was credited with that safety earlier in the game there.
Nicholas pots, Lea senior, and the clock will continue to roll right here again.
Maris does have two timeouts and this is the time in the game when you as a defensive player love it because as a defensive lineman, you can pin your ears back and go after the quarterback when you're defensive back.
You just stay deeper than the deepest and just break on the ball.
Pass the game has been tough for tonight for the warrior goes and now that's pretty much.
The only shot.
They have a big hit right there.
Ball pops loose, they're going to say that the you catch was made and that's a Zach.
Langhorne was down right there.
Langhorne, of course, Dias Senor.
Into the ball game right here in AJ, buye laying a Big Lick right there.
For his buye transferring, over from Middle Creek.
As we talked about right there has been very consistent defensively SATs a couple of interceptions here in this postseason.
Nice job of breaking on the ball, hit by buye as I was You stay, you put yourself in a position just to break this you know just break on the ball and tackle it no reason to take any risk of a look at several leading receiver running by you and boo.
Yeah, you know we know he's a very, the best cover guy but he's doing what he was taught.
Third down right here.
Third and 16 farmer again, rolling ride a looking downfield pump, fake will air it out.
Has a man there, they'll watch out and knocked away.
Good defensive play.
Almond, was there momentarily but how about the play right there?
By too many Brewster.
We haven't talked a lot about Brewster here tonight.
Before he got a hand in there at the last second tell you what I'm gonna double moved him and got open and you know, just great recovery speed by Brewster to get back into place.
He was beaten even.
He went for a short of a, could take a look at it.
He was well behind him.
Ball was maybe a little under throne, but he was fooled Brewster was fooled on the double move by almond oil and almond was open there to had that ball in his mitts and just couldn't quite squeeze it there.
And then for his credit Brewster for knocking that thing out of there.
So now fourth down fourth and 16, and obviously, under two minutes, right here, Marys will go forth to try to keep it alive.
Twins left and right.
One back Kyle farmer.
The UGA baseball signee will air it out down field.
This ball going to be intercepted by.
Boo, yay.
Stays on his feet and will be taken down just shy or inside the 40 right there and that should do it.
The celebration is on in the tiger.
Faithful can feel it.
Nice job by buye, we hadn't called his name a whole lot today.
But again, that might have been within good reason, it was not a whole lot of opportunities for marriage to pass the football until we get, they got behind here late in the Ballgame.
Big interception for buye big interception for the Tucker defense.
The Tigers just looking to run the clock out right here.
Boo.
Yeah and that's a sucker.
Sideline fired up right here.
They make no bones about it though.
This mayor is football team here came into play and they played well, unfortunately, somebody has to lose.
And again, Tucker came in with the, you know, with the, I think a little bit more to prove.
It's time.
Jonathan Davis, trying to bounce.
It outside does.
So it gets a little block from Scott, therefore behind and Davis wisely stays in bounds right there.
He easily had the sidelines, but did the smart thing.
Keep that clock rolling right here for the Tigers, you were talking about.
Devon Scott.
I want to add this point real quick, through the playoffs 121 yards.
In round one, Davis with nine carries two hundred yards around to against Hillgrove.
So it's certainly nothing new to see him compliment Davis and Calhoun the way he has here tonight, what a ballgame for the Stucker offense did put up a lot of points.
Certainly well short of that 32 point average on the season, but they made plays and got first downs and did what they had to do.
Here's a look at some of the Tucker fans like the face paint.
Oh yeah.
A lot of painted faces here tonight and some painted chest.
I've seen some full body actually going on here tonight for both sides, second and three Drayton, Calhoun stacked up in the middle.
Nice job there by that War Eagle defense.
We will fight till the final whistle but inside a minute right here, in Marist again, with two timeouts but they look pretty content just to let the time run out but you expect that out of the shed with Coach team know that mayor's to fight to the end.
You know it's Pulling out of hand.
Now, they're not going to win this ballgame, but you know what?
They're going to play until every second is ticked off with the clock saw.
Some of those fans we were talking about right.
There is you see the fans inside?
The Georgia Dome here tonight.

A hint of a smile.
Chris Beck takes a knee and that will do it in the celebration is on no program.
In DeKalb County has won more games in the last decade than the Tucker.
Tigers here in 2008 they capture their first state championship.
Hey finals appearance back at 1963 and now a state championship here in 2008 there's a look at coaching And he deserves it.
That tell you, he has done an excellent job in a game with all the odds and we heard the principal say that they are having some construction going on at the school.
So they have a limited facilities but they are state champion.
Then we're about what you don't have is working what you have, huh?

They do have two state championships of the Ronin 89 in 2003, but just falling a little bit short here tonight.
And again, just a, a great effort in a great football game in this for a state championship.
Again, the 2008 GHSA class 4A state champion, Tucker Tigers, what a job.

That's the only thing I can say about this community is waited.
So long for this, this program is weight itself alone, as we finally was able to get there this year.
I'm just ecstatic about it.
It seemed like on every third down to fourth down.
Your team, came up with a big play to get another first down, just talk about the play, your kids today.
Well, you know, I talked to the kids about, somebody's got to refuse to lose, and that's what they did.
And they came out, and they just refuse to lose the football game, it was some critical time.
Somebody had to make some place.
They made the plays.
They had to me.
The lasers clothes go celebrate this win back after you day.
All right.
Thank you.
Gerald there.
