He's coming in.
It's a slam jam to pull up from three to watch this guy goal drive backs it in and gets it from the Macon Coliseum in the making center flex.
It is time for the girls class quad championship from the Macon Coliseum.
It is the fighting patriots have seen it three coming out of region five with the record of 25 and six taking on the reigning champs and 40 the Columbia Eagles coming to making out of region six AA 11 and two early on for the Eagles John Nelson here along with the coach Sean Gold and my partner this weekend and Sean you know when we talk about these particular teams one's been here before, one hasn't.
Talk about that a little bit for us.
Well, first let's talk about Santa Cruz.
They haven't been here before.
This is the first opportunity for them to get a chance at a championship opportunity.
No pressure, because I think this team is going to come out here and play hard.
Columbia has a little pressure because back to back opportunities, it's hard to win a back to back state championship, easy to get there, also easy to fall from the top.
Now, we talked about this particular matchup and it came down to one five letter word for you in describing the big T. Well, tempo is the key to the game tonight.
Tempo, tempo, tempo.
Columbia wants to push the ball offensively, saying the creep wants to control the tempo of the game with their defense.
Now let's talk about Sandy Creek right now and they've got a big player in the middle.
my gosh.
She is fantastic.
You talk about Sophia martinez six feet Pope says going to Temple University.
She's a defensive presence inside the paint.
She kind of reminds me of Akeem Olajuwon in there just blocking shots.
All she has to do is three things defend, rebound and score in that order.
Now, let's talk about Colombia.
On the flip side, we know that Sophia is going to be the dream for Sandy Creek tonight.
And you've got someone also for Columbia who's going to be a big presence has been all year.
Exactly right.
Maya Spence is fantastic.
She's a 59. guard.
She's crafty, averaging almost 20 points a game.
But what she does, she gets to the paint, but she gets to the free throw line.
So that's one of the things you got to watch about how deep she penetrate against this type of defense by Sandy Creek.
All right.
Third member of our broadcast team tonight, putting in a long day and it's still going to keep going.
Raven, Toronto, Raven, what's the early word on?
Obviously, we'll get back to Raven in just a second.
She's going to let you know about Sandy Creek and what's going on.
And when you talk about these two particular teams, we've talked about one being here before, one who really hasn't.
Where are the jitters?
Here are the jitters for the defending champs.
Are the jitters for the guys who have been here?
Well, I could just say, John, there's more jitters for the champs because back to back, that's the more pressure people are expecting you to win it again, especially with the success that this Columbia Eagles team has had.
But Sandy Creek, this is a team that I'm expected to come out with.
An upset did not pick the win, but I am picking Sandy Creek to possibly come out with a w tonight.
He's putting that in pen.
Let's send it back over to raven, Toronto.
Raven.
All right, let's try this again.
Like you guys were talking about earlier, this is the first time that Sandy Creek has made it here to the state finals, but it isn't Coach King's first time he actually was defeated by Columbia when he was here with Carver Atlanta.
I spoke with him earlier and he said to get back here.
It's such an unfortunate it's such a fortunate experience.
We get to play for it again.
And he hopes that he can bring it home for Sandy Craig tonight.
4236 Thank you very much, Raven.
Let's take a look at our starting lineup, starting with sandy, free starting lineups brought to us by our friends at Regions bank.
It's time to expect more.
Ricci, Walker, Sydney, Jarman, Courtney, straight in a three guard offense for Sandy Creek.
Sofia Martin We talked about in the open Chloe branch the other forward on the flip side for Colombia as they defend their title.
Maya Spencer She Maya Smith The two guards, the two forward, Sean Recommande and Octavia Hickson, expect a big night from her as well.
The second leading scorer for the Eagles and Kylee Felton, the sophomore center in the middle.
Let's talk about the keys for the game starting off with the fighting Patriots.
So we talked about it again John control but tip of the game is starting to creep Do a good job with your defense Tell me after 49 points a game control the tempo but they have to win the rebounding edge versus Columbia.
And on the flip side, let's talk about Columbia.
What are the defending champs after that?
Well, Columbia's done a great job of getting here back to back opportunities, but they're known for being a little bit too anxious.
Control your call tonight.
They do not getting foul trouble.
Last game, the top two players had six fouls in that game.
Do not get in foul trouble tonight or you could go home without without the championship keys to success brought to us by our friends at the Technical College system of Georgia to learn more, earn more loans.
Take a look at our coaches and Shawn Frost, a familiar place and a familiar face here on GPB.
And on the sidelines right there, the head coach for the Columbia Eagles.
She's ready to win another championship.
She doesn't have her daughter at point loss.
A lot of players last year coming to this time around.
But she's back for another title game.
On the flip side, it is Cedric King two years ago losing to Columbia 4036 in the title game, head coach of Carver, Atlanta this time has taken Sandy Creek all the way to the last game of the year and plain and simple, let's get it on for the Class Quality Girls Championship.
Columbia coming out with the opening ten with Columbia ball kicked early turnover scrambled for five pick back up by Columbia Drive into the paint 13 foot jumper off the rim No good rebound for Sandy Creek that was a great defense possession by kick Sandwich Creek intensity Boy celebrates top of the key and they're calling a carry yes that's what happened but that's fine.
Let's go back to that defensive spot position the same the creek had.
They were able to get on the floor, get steals and deflections and forced a bad shot, got the rebound.
Charmaine Smith bringing it up for Columbia crosses halfcourt get the Maya Spencer getting go back to Smith pick way out in order center circle Spencer looking to drive in recent Walker really guarding Spencer very very closely early on we got a whistleblower push on Well that's good defense still a little bit too tight on the Sandy Creek side but folks likes that type of defense.
His players can actually force the offense away from the basket.
Got them playing 25 feet away from the paint.
That's good defense.
Just used our hands and got caught with the foul balance.
Whitney charm in her first team first 46 seconds in no points on the board for either team so far.
Smith driving all the way to the paint the smiles play with the finger roll four to go.
That was great offense started by the high ball screen there from Columbia and she got in, was crafty getting to the paint and Smith was able to finish with the two points.
First two on the board key in any ballgame Columbia gets the two here the only bucket lead pass attempted by Chloe Grace experimental and fought back same people start it back again Grant's very top player at the point big clear out by Sophia martin.
There was a bit too much of a clear up but you know I'm looking at Sandy Creek because they play so aggressive defensively that foul was about their physicality presence.
And here you go, Jason Smith getting to the basket and able to finish off the big girl inside and get the two points over Sophia martin for the first dose of the game minute 25, then Columbia still leading with a two nothing advantage.
Smith almost could have been called for a carry there man to Spencer Spencer driving and whistle before the call a block and we'll send it back the other way He was I'm just amazed by seeing the creek what they do on the defensive end, even though they're down to nothing right now, they're really doing a great job of controlling this game with the details in the early minutes following Octavia Hicks and her first safety into the paint block with a tall timber inside long outlet down below and easy to win the post office.
A team like Columbia, you can't give them easy baskets in transition, especially off of these shots or turnovers.
HICKSON With the two, there, it's now for nothing.
Columbia passed the two minute mark here in the first quarter.
Scramble on the floor turnover.
Let's see if Columbia can come up with another two off the board.
Almost picked from behind is Smith Spencer lights up the three off the rim no good rebound Sandy Creek they had numbers long outlet down Courtney Street this is the layup but the easy two on the pick back for Kelly drains when I was talking to coach King earlier this week he talked about attacking attacking if his girls can complement each other off their defense defensive scoring transition.
That is easy but not good for their defense.
Maybe defense four said game and it turns into another two for Lisa Walker.
Off the glass down for nothing now tied at four King barking out instructions for his defense Smith wide open in the paint off the back of the rim no good Sophia martin clears out to the rebound picked up by Walker Howard into the offensive zone drive Tried to go off the glass no good was Cauley Branch goes out of bounds and will go to Columbia but that was a that was again great defense on both ends of the court but this just looking at Sandy Creek create what they're doing box of border running and scoring off their defense that may be the biggest key for them tonight to get to the championship is rather look at the recent Walker bucket 445 to go for the first and we are tied at four Sandy freaking Columbia off the rim no good easy step back that time for Shawn man I finally felt sorry for Mark just can't foul she's got an early foul here in the game she's got to go straight up and down.
So now Columbia's going to continue to attack in the offensive end.
Kylie Felton with the two six for Columbia with the advantage for 23 and counting for the start of Sandy Creek dribbling into the paint looking for help.
Some place finally gets it inside, looks it back out.
Ricci Walker Launches a three off the rim.
No good.
I think she was looking for off the glass and it came up short rebound Columbia to bring it back down Yeah coach talked about it perimeter student is not their strength they've got to continue to attack the paint Sean man looking inside Felton off of her foot scramble for it on the floor.
Jump ball possession heads the other way we'll get to safety first.
One more time out on the floor.
354 to go first quarter Columbia in Sandy Creek still feeling each other out.
The quad championship just underway here at the Macon Coliseum in the Macon Cineplex.
More on GPB when we come back.
welcome back to the Macon policy in Macon Cineplex.
The Sandy Creek cheerleaders happy so far with the early returns.
Early returns when it comes to Columbia, you're talking defense.
Well, no, it's integration.
Now, Sandy Creek, we talked about defense, but Columbia doing the same thing.
Not known for their defense.
Gibbons and the creek a taste of their medicine and getting the deuce in transition.
Good job for Columbia.
Kylie Felton with the BLOCK.
They're yielding the two for you.
Tamia Hixon Early returns Sandy Creek, two of six from the floor with four rebounds, Columbia three of seven from the floor with four rebounds.
Columbia 43%.
Sandy Creek 43%.
Is that Columbia defense pressuring Sandy Creek?
Kind of giving them a taste of their own defense.
The tide inside the paint will get knocked out, gets back up by Sandy Creek, whistle on the scrum and it looks like there's going to be a foul called on Maya Spencer who was that something that Columbia didn't want them to repeat what happened there in the semifinal game when she picked up two early fouls in the first quarter, 335 to go for the first goal, six for Columbia as we chase after the girls quarter champion Sandy Creek working the perimeter, another long jumper off the back of the rim, no good for three rebound picked up inside Spencer comes out with it for Columbia.
Yeah that was just a great defense possession but Columbia now get a chance to go up possibly four points here Smith drives kicks it back out baseline drive great passing inside for the easy to four finally felt well they forced it before smart to come over and help on the defensive end and Columbia is able to get the little pass off and a layup offensively Felton has four his season average is 4.6 so she's way ahead of projections.
Defense coming at it one more time.
Columbia's got numbers all the way down and the easy layup for Samya Smith in said Kings Pollin time one of the pulsating breakdowns once again defense turned through a transition bucket for ten for Columbia and the time out for Sandy Creek.
Well, we talked about tempo of the game and how you can control it with your defense, But Columbia's making symmetry play east and west.
It's tough.
North and South Columbia is doing a great job attacking the basket, forcing the turnovers, giving easy baskets in transition, kind of giving Sandy Creek a taste of their own medicine.
Columbia scored the last six points from the game being tied at four to where it is right now with 253 to go in the first half.
And is it just something as simple from Sedrick King is just to kind of calm things down?
But you see what Columbia has been able to do, winning 17 of their last 18?
Well, here's the thing.
Columbia is just as fast and just as quick as Quicksand Creek.
So you're not going against a team that is slow, that you're bigger, faster, stronger than you going against a team that can match you pound for pound.
So Columbia coming out assert themselves to a six point lead here in the first quarter.
Sandy Creek's missed their last four, most of it from the perimeter.
Columbia's hit their last three almost over and back there.
And that's what they're going to call a Columbia came out of the play man to man the first few possessions of this quarter.
Now they switched it to their half court, 1 to 2 trap defense, and they were able to get it trapped.
They're forced to backcourt fifth turnover in 5 minutes and 15 seconds for Sandy Creek here in the first quarter, Spencer was ready for the backdoor cut, but they're going to call a foul on Sandy Creek instead just before the pass was made by sundry recommande looks like it's going to be called on 43.
Her folks didn't pass into the paint trying to figure out what to do with it kicks it back out.
We got whistles instead 3 seconds and coming back the other way.
Well, that's a great job of Sophie and Martin being inside the paint.
She didn't block the shot, but her presence kind of make them question themselves.
That gave up the three in second call, 227 to go for the first Columbia, up ten for a shot off the rim.
No, just knocked out of bounds.
Looked like it was touched last by Courtney St.
It's going to go back Columbia's way looked like off the joust it could've gone either way whether it was man or st they said straight.
So we're heading back quickly.
Columbia trying to pip Sandy Creek before they could get their defense set is going to be another call from the fighting patriots.
Well what happens now with Sam and Chris going to back up maybe a step defensively, give it a little bit more of a cushion because look Columbia's going to tie.
Do you blame us?
The fact the quicker we're going try to go by you and that's forcing them to fight a little bit more than what they accustomed to fouling Ricci Walker, her first fourth team foul from Sandy Creek with 214 to go in counting in the first quarter.
Tough defense again by Sandy Creek loans to Maya Smith and we've got a turnover it over to the bandwagon what happens with a tight pressing defense and saying the creek there's a five second call if you had six inches of that off offender you keep the basket canto and that's exactly what she did get a hands in the ball.
She kept the pressure on the defense on offense.
Scuse me.
I was able to get across to the count.
Let's see if Sandy Creek can do anything with 2 minutes to go in the first pass working the perimeter.
They had the cutter.
Cutter gave up the shot.
They're going to try it all the way back out.
Ricci Walker out near half court on the drive another outside shot partially blocked knocked out of bounds.
It's going to stay with Sandy Creek, at least we points.
But now they're going to go to the body.
And that's not been a strength as we talked about at the beginning of the broadcast.
Cedric King has talked about attacking, attacking, don't settle for the jump shot because Columbia's now allowed them to shoot from the perimeter.
Jasmine Jones in the ballgame with that missed three Maya Spencer with it with 95 seconds to go first quarter on the Columbia Eagles with a six point lead pass to the inside off the front of the rim.
No good Columbia players fighting for it.
Sandy Creek coming back out with it.
They missed their last six shots.
Let's see if they can come back with something here on offense.
Pocket perfect.
They don't quite have numbers.
I think it was a three on three.
Spencer will slow it up.
Look the cross-court pass bounce into the paint Nice muscle off off the rim no good Sophia martin jousting for the rebound can happen Columbia throws it back up and steps call We're going to see the Greeks.
What one of our mason keys about saying the Greek.
But you've got to win the rebounding game tonight.
It was good for different second chance opportunities in that position there John Sandy got to do a better job of securing one shot, wanted to get the ball and get in transition.
Lisa Walker bringing it up short 60 seconds to go first quarter score hasn't moved all that much from the ten four advantage Columbia had early on.
They're going to waive off the basket.
They're going to ball steps again, Sandy Creek trying to attack, but again, just not capitalizing unforced turnovers and giving them a bucket in a bad position right now.
Seven first quarter turnovers for safety.
Craig Spencer driving almost got her pocket quick.
Palombi comes back out with it double team in the corner steps on the in-line going the other way Nice to get you get caught with a little elbow action but with the elbow did that was a deep trap The first place it was called to pick up the ball is right in the corner and exactly that was great defense there I'll say free to the criminal, the great to come defensively.
That's what we're going to talk about.
But they have to capitalize on their offense for Columbia, crashing the boards right now with a plus four advantage in Columbia.
Ten in the paint.
So everything has happened on the inside for the Eagles.
Sandy Creek has been forced to try to make things happen from the outside.
Bounce pass off the glass missed no good start.
A run comes up with it for Columbia under 20 seconds to go.
Columbia is going to play for the last shot.
Yeah great interior pass and just Martin just missing a chance there to get to points.
Smith trying to figure out what to do with it, Fredricka.
Man, pull up off the rim.
No good thought for 4 seconds.
Three clock's going to continue.
They're going to call a hold and we're going to go the other way with it, with 2.6 to go for the first, both teams aren't shooting the ball well.
Just Columbia was able to get some easy baskets in transition off of missed shots or turnovers by Sam Franklin.
When it comes to defense, both teams are doing a great job of keeping their team in front of long attempts at getting it close to the bucket and that'll do it for the first quarter.
Columbia tied at four and one point scorers six points in a row to take a ten four lead as they try to repeat when it comes to the Class Quad championship, Sandy Creek chasing after their first.
We'll see what happens in the second 8 minutes.
And we come back to the bacon bar scene in the making cineplex right here on the great sheep.
Welcome back to the Macon Coliseum in the Macon Cineplex.
One quarter in the books.
As we start the second quarter, Columbia leading Sandy Creek tend to fall as they try to repeat what's kind of take a look at how both of these squads got here to the Macon Coliseum to play in the last game of the year.
Let's start off with Sandy Creek, Madison County by 25, Marist by eight, redan by three in a tough one, then clamping down on Mary persons, holding them scoreless for a long time, winning by 25 to play Columbia tonight then coming back Columbia.
They've been here before they're looking to finish on the top end of the ledger one more time and repeat as champs win over Pickens County in the first round by 18, win by Lagrange, by 14 River Ridge, a 41 point blow out the quarters.
Jonesboro, they got a big scare come back to win by five in the semifinals to play Sandy Creek tonight you look at the first quarter, Sandy Creek missed their last seven field goal attempts.
They're two of 11 from the floor.
In the first 8 minutes, Columbia missed their last four.
They were five of nine.
Now they're five of 13, hitting 38 and a half percent.
One thing to pay attention to you, Tanya Hixson for Columbia already has three personal fouls.
John, you zacha, right?
Three fouls and five turnovers in the first quarter of this game.
Not a pretty first quarter.
Both teams combined seven for 24, but the start of the second quarter with an easy basket smile.
Smith With the drive for two widening Columbia's lead to eight at 12 to 4, Sandy Creek forced to work the perimeter most of the time putting up a lot of three point shots that they weren't fans to try to throw a cross.
And that's a dangerous place to put a pass and it was intercepted.
Here's a look at the last pocket coming right actually just good penetration here off the bounce getting to the basket no up inside the paint and Smith able to get the easy deuce but one of the things we want to talk about right now is that 1 to 2 defense by Columbia.
The easy way to attack is on the baseline and Santa Cruz trying to attack it head on, which is forcing them to get a lot of turnovers.
Foul call on Courtney Streak that's her second so that's the first Sandy Creek player we need to pay attention to when it comes to fouls.
Nice idea for a pass on the Paul steps out too late on yeah yeah yes he took the extra step inside he was up and two with a rim three but she took the extra step first.
Good move Great thought just wasn't able to sneak that extra step in by the official Patrick Ewing gets away with that but not from three commands which is exactly right to keep his attack on the baseline.
He's heart attack a point zone, a 1 to 2 zone from up top, attacking on the baseline forced the defense to flat out.
But they have a hard time.
They get caught the crowd they got caught in the corner but they had to come all the way back out beyond a three point arc to get things all squared away.
So the Martin had to come all the way out to the point.
Yeah.
To be that extra passer and the be extra passing lane for Sandy Creek to get things done.
Double team.
As he tried to break through the press Ricci Walker but we got a foul call on Columbia on the breakthrough so it would be interesting to see what coach keep us here going into the halftime within the next 6 minutes and 45 seconds.
How are they going to attack this one, two, two defense by Columbia?
Look at that points in the paint, as we've already said, Columbia now 12 four.
When it comes to points in the paint, all of their points have come from very, very easy buckets, which has been Columbia's M.O.
for most of the playoffs.
Exactly 640 and counting here in the first half.
Columbia clamping down on Sandy Creek right now, 12th for all that defense inside the paint, forcing everything, a lot of passing to the outside, having to figure out how to bust this one, two, two that is causing Sandy Creek fits baseline jumper over everything.
We got a whistle on the inside you talk about Martin going to temple and she's a pretty good basketball player on the defensive end but she's got to improve offensively to complete her game that short range jump then in a short corner should have been a two point basket, but she wasn't able to capitalize and become involved for the foul branch.
Taking a seat temporarily, Allie Warren coming in now for Sandy Creek, also sitting down, Sidney Jarman, Danny Harris, number five, checking in turnover again and back comes Columbia.
Simeon Smith will start the offense 610 and counting here second quarter and she got her pocket pick Jasmine Jones looking for the drive off the glass in and Sandy Creek need it back so that's what Sandy Creek has doing all year long.
It's getting the pressure on their defense get steals, deflections and get easy baskets.
Columbia has been doing that now it has a six point lead.
Sandy Creek needs to pick up the tempo a little bit more.
Columbia had an eight run going for about six a half minutes.
That two really broke things up.
And hopefully Sandy Creek from their perspective will break the momentum but that was a big time rebound there by Martin.
This is gone high getting in traffic coming down in traffic with a nice rebound.
That's what she does Walker Jasmine Jones now with it trying to figure out a way to penetrate down the middle Walker being guarded by Spencer Long jumper hits nothing but it was saved by Allie Warren Everyone from Sandy Creek thought it was heading out of bounds.
They started to retreat on defense.
Columbia ends up with it.
Spencer Drive.
Nice finger.
Roll off the rim.
No good.
Back comes Sandy Creek one more time Sophia martin with the rebound Long Alec thinking about the long jumper in and out of the hands knocked out of bounds they're going to say Sharma has been touched at last has been a Harris was having problems with it yes in the creek just can't get a break had a great box out opportunity a great transition just went to capitalize and score You had an advantage 3 minutes gone second quarter Columbia up 12 six in the girls quarter championship Sandy Creek having problems with the zone that Columbia has put up defensively jump shot is off the glass no good too hard picked up by Columbia.
One more time.
Probably felt the big presence in the paint for the eagles.
Maya Spencer will slow it down for Columbia 435 first half masochism.
She's going to be special at NC State next year.
She does a great job of controlling this team and tonight she's controlled her Moses, which is tough.
This team got a six point lead.
Smith at the pass inside rimmed out Nope Good Picked up by Sophia martin once again Sandy Creek looking to run with the outlet alley Warren with the drive off the glass and in again Westbrook saying the fruit needs to be keep getting stops D Mathis in scoring transition we'll give you a chance to get back in this game we'll see coming up on the halfway point here.
Second quarter Sandy Creek has trimmed Columbia's lead to four at 12 eight Spencer with the basketball gets to sundry command looking on the inside knocked out of Kylie Feldman's hands and it's going to go back over to Sandy Creek Great job of post presence really close it up hard but Mark did a great job of defending and getting the turnover 354 to go first half Sandy Creek making a bit of a run down by eight.
Now they're down by four.
Well make the make it coliseum in the making cineplex end of the first half coming up welcome back Macon coliseum macon cineplex, Columbia leading Sandy creek 12 eight 353 to go first half.
And here's where I get to ask Sean kind of a did you know did you know that you could take a trip around our great state of Georgia on Georgia, travel from the mountains to the coast, our traveling team explores the state so it's beautiful and exciting and unique treasures.
Don't miss Georgia travel.
We're on the great GPB because as we all know, David Zell Ski really likes to eat and finds a lot of great places to eat and a lot of great places around the state of Georgia.
Personally, I think I need to find more golf stories.
That's just me.
You know what?
I need to start hosting that Georgia Cheryl, because I would like to travel around the state of Georgia.
So.
David Zell Ski, your days are numbered.
But when it comes when it comes to co-hosting, Sean Gold is coming after you.
Turnovers.
Sandy Creek and Columbia now tied at ten.
But that says a lot about the defense that's been going on right now with also say says about saying the creek sticking to their game plan this not get rattled they stick to it they stay focused and that's what's helped them get back to now four power down four points here Columbia second quarter field goal Sandy Creek two for six, Columbia one for four.
Shady Creek is outrebounded Columbia five one here in the second quarter.
And of the 20 points, all of them have been in the paint tonight so far, 335 to go.
First half Sandy Creek trying to work their way inside on this zone, fought for jump ball situation and it's going to stay with Sandy Creek.
So we have a front row seat to this action.
That was great energy, great focus, great drive.
The first person on the floor was able to come up with that possession of the ball.
That was great job for Alley.
Ward was doing a good job of just playing tough, going up against two Columbia defenders, making sure that she could keep the basketball for Sandy Creek 320 down here in the first half.
Luke Ives, almost a Luke pass.
Didn't know if it was going to be a pass or a shot by Ricci.
Walker ended up being a turnover minus Spencer coming back with it for Columbia.
Alisha Harris in the ballgame now for Columbia.
Driving into the paint, throws the shot up and they're going to call a foul on Sandy Creek.
They're going to call a block.
Looks like it's going to be on.
Allie Warren Yeah.
Harris was really doing a great job of stripping the ball out.
Tough for an offensive.
Harris was able to get by her and now get to the free throw line.
Alisha Harris got.
It's the first free throw of the game of the game.
Wow.
3 minutes to go into the first half and we just took the first feature on the season.
Harris Averaging just under two points a game and also on the season only hitting 49% from the line.
So what does she do?
She hits both of those.
She's doing a good job, just really close to the likes of the free throw line to knock down those 3 minutes to go.
First half.
Columbia's lead back up to 614 eight, and the Eagles decide that they want to press off of the maid basket once again, scramble on the floor to buy to jump ball is going to go to Columbia this time and one again for Sam to prove you just can't have one player on the court diving for the loose balls, which is Warren.
She's been giving it her all but Columbia.
Come on over.
There are three of four players there on the court versus one now.
They've got the position here.
Sharman and Grant now in Jasmine Jones and Allie Warren sitting down here, same degree, 248 and counting, first half Columbia leading Sandy Creek by the score of 68.
Well, you really can't help.
It's in the second foul because you see her if she helps, Smith is going to dump it off and just got caught up in no man's land and Smith this get to the basket to get this done that a couple of times shot up by Sophia martin no good looks like she's going to end up at the free throw line And we've seen this all before.
Earlier, this team had it coming.
Right.
Action again, just can't you see I'm not able to come over the hooks.
She's got to be in the hook position.
Fake move, safe move for the office to be out of control.
They close up and go.
The foul is called on Kylie Felton for first look at that Martz free throw again.
She's going to Temple to the Temple Owls and playing for Vivian Stringer, who was a Hall of Fame coach.
She's got great for lots of people.
She's got a great form.
She's got to keep working on the free throw up there and out.
No good.
Jasmine Jones The Ballgame proceed to kick replacing Tony Harris as we are under now two and a half to go first half with Columbia leading 16 to 9 once again in the paint all by herself.
It ends up being a pass back to the outside to see if Columbia can get anything happening with it.
They can't spin no good picked up rebound Sophia martin trying to clear out and it looks like they're going to call Martin for clearing out the elbows little too much.
Well, no, no pardon marks coming down the court as she goes again watching her battle Halo.
Watch this.
She's fourth in the polls.
She comes over and helps to get the dish up, but she's their defensive front in the post contested shot.
So who comes up with the rebound?
It would be Martin Back to the free throw line, Sophia.
Martin, first free throw in the one and Martin's no good.
This is the front end.
So back comes Columbia in a hurry.
They don't have numbers, so they're going to pull it back to Mia Smith, working offense up against Jasmine Jones.
2 minutes and counting.
First half, Columbia still up by 716 tonight.
Once again, we've seen a lot of those tonight off the back of the rim.
No good this time and out of bounds.
And it looks like it's going to stay with Columbia.
But the dribble drive by Shamier Smith.
We've seen it time and time and like exactly right.
And what Christine has to do, make an adjustment back the ball for her and keep her on the perimeter.
That way.
You play smart defense, you're going to call stats if you want to try it again.
It's a lot of times people think that you got to play everyone tighter, tighter, sometimes a scouting report.
You have a quick point guard who can't shoot the ball on the perimeter.
Just keep her in front of you and that's all you have to do.
11 turnovers for Columbia in the game, 145 to go first half double team in the corner.
Dangerous possession for Sandy.
Great Martin picks it up They're going to try to reset the offense here working the perimeter jump shot doesn't hit anything from Sidney Jarman and back comes Columbia.
I don't think Sandy Creek has hit a shot outside the paint all game long.
So it's going to be a long night.
They're going to settle for the outside perimeter.
Smith starts to do her dribble drive, thinks better of it.
Ball The tall timber in the paint tries to pass it off, getting a pocket pick.
Come back, Sandy quick on defense You saw Alisha Harris lose possession of the basketball and then Columbia has to come back from the foul.
Yeah it's just a good hand on good hand coordination defensively by same to create coming up with the steal with a chance to possibly cut into this seven point lead 111 to go first half Columbia is trying to stretch their lead out over Sandy Creek is back after seven we'll have the rest of the first half coming up on the great GPB for make it long ago.
Okay well, Mr. got to bring it home so the sound that you're going to smother me.
Welcome back Macon coliseum Macon center.
Blake 71 seconds to go.
First half Columbia leading Sandie Creek, 16 to 9.
And they've been here for the last game of the year.
They've done it.
Well, let's go back to last season when they played Washington County.
Yeah, at least a great deal on the jump shot.
But Columbia was able to come out and get a strong victory and just doing a great job of playing inside the paint.
Nothing.
No difference what they do right now, John, This Columbia just playing their game and your favorite point guard, Zuri Frost.
my gosh.
I love her.
Miss.
She's up at Tennessee Tech right now, having a great season as a freshman, but she did a great job of penetrating the defense and getting into the point and getting into the paint.
5733 Columbia over Washington County, clamping down on Alicia Gray last year to get that championship third state title in four years last year.
So they're coming after four and five.
And you think about what Shante Frost has been able to do since she's been at Columbia before she took the job since 1971.
If you take a 38 year period for Columbia Girls basketball, they only made the playoffs six times from 1971 to 2009.
They were knocked out in the first round each time.
So as soon as Shante Frost has shown up, when you talk about Columbia basketball and I just used air quotes and I'm sorry that I did that, you're now talking about both boys and girls basketball when you talk about.
Yeah, it started with Coach Frost, you know, why were they had success.
She had her kids playing because she's got, you know, good kids playing for her.
But more importantly, she's got the community support and everything that she's done.
She's pushing these young girls to be good citizens off the court.
And when they get on the court, exemplify hard work and dedication to winning.
Sidney Jarman at the line for Sandy Creek, fighting patriots trying to close the gap three seven missed the front in to the one and one again.
So Columbia is going to take their time coming into the frontcourt as we approach a minute to go first half with a seven point lead.
But then of course, here comes the Sandy Creek defense.
They're going to call jump ball and it's going to go back.
Sadie Creek's way off.
And that's toughness.
These girls play with so much heart, so much focus, so much drive loose balls on the floor, diving like crazy.
That is great defense.
They've got to capitalize and score some points offensively.
And in the scrum looks like Richie Walker kind of got the worst of it.
A little slow to get up but she is up and you see her work on that right arm a little bit.
When you're in the scrum, everything kind of gets a little bent.
Sometimes it's a little hard to get it back to where it used to be, we're telling you exactly right.
But one of the things in talking to Coach King, the way they practice, it's a tough physical grind.
These girls are accustomed to this type of this type of play.
Jones inbounding the wrist walker giving a go double team broken up, but they're now they're going through a very tenacious, almost looks like a boxing chaser where they get the perimeter, taking care of making sure that the zone stays intact.
As we hit 40 seconds and Columbia is going to try one more time to come down here in the front court to widen this seven point advantage.
Spencer dribbling around the perimeter, guarded by Jasmine Jones.
Spencer high off the glass to Hart gets her own rebound the 25 seconds tries to bring it back out and they certainly will do that to Maya Smith.
And it looks like they might play for one here.
Yeah, that was just the same creek's got to get that rebound had great help.
Now Columbia has a chance to ask him to burn the rest of the 42nd clock start to play.
Now with ten Smith looking Spencer guarded very, very closely 5 seconds four.
Is she going to be able to get it off?
Double team ball goes out bounds with one and a half seconds touched by no one other than Spencer.
So Sandy Creek's going to have to do a heave ho here to try to get something done.
Well, Sandy Creek doing a great job defensively.
Just got to improve offensively to score some points here in the second half.
Some of that.
So Columbia puts the clamps on Sandy Creek for most of the first half.
We're through with 16 minutes of play here.
No team scored in the last two and a half minutes of the first half to keep things at 16 to 9.
And Columbia is halfway to getting that back to back championship over to Raven Tirado and Coach Frost.
Coach obviously a positive note on the scoreboard with 12 turnovers.
What are your girls need to do to ensure a win at this end of this game?
We need to take care of the basketball.
We need to better get open and take care of the basketball and value it as a possession.
First of all, we also need to play good defense.
Scott Richardson must be sent to the foul line pretty early, so we just need to move our feet in.
Quite honestly.
We got to take care of basketball.
Thanks, Coach.
Back to you.
Mark Raven, thanks so much.

What was it like at Sandy Creek High School as everybody was in anticipation of coming here to make it for this big game today on this site?
It was really, really outstanding.
And this is the brothers that the girls have gone thus far and through history and the community, the faculty, staff and students, the Board of Education, Bear County, and to say that's our roles.
We've been giving us extremely, extremely outstanding support and we're supremely pleased and proud of that.
All right.

A question from our Today is the History Project.
And your question is February 24th, 1883.

Let's see.
I think you're right.
The Atlanta Journal, you are smarter than your students.
So thanks so much for coming on.
Good luck here the second half.
Thank you.
All right.

Okay.
We're at halftime of the girls for a state championship game.
Joining us now is Nicole Shaw, the assistant principal at Columbia High School to goal.
Thanks for coming on with us.
And tell us a little bit what the vibe was like at Columbia High School, because not only are the girls team playing, but the boys team is here as well.
Exactly.
It was very exciting.
We're really honored to be here.
We're so proud of the students.
And for the boys, this being their third time winning three straight championships.
So we're ready for the fourth championship and then for the girls, of course, winning this two championships.
In a way, we're ready for that third championship, you know, 14 times the boys and girls team from the same school has won.
And you guys have a chance to do that again this year.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Very excited about that.
All right.
Time to play the game.
Are you smarter than your students?
A question from Mark today in Georgia History Project here.
QUESTION Sonny Perdue became Georgia's 81st governor on November 5th.
2002, was known for playing one eighth the radio B, Hopscotch C football, r D, the pipe organ C football.
You answer that quite quickly.
You knew that.
All right.
Well, thank you very much.
And of course, we'll see somebody from Columbia again coming up with the boys game because you guys are double dipping.
Okay.
Thanks for coming on this.
I sure appreciate your coming on.
Okay.
All right.

All right.
It's been an exciting day so far.
my gosh.
The energy is just amazing.
We'll see what happens here in the second half.
We're getting ready for the second half of the drill for a great championship game.
We're back with more after this timeout.
Why from mega coliseum live on GPB and like us on Facebook.
Welcome back Macon Coliseum and Macon center plex getting ready for the start of the third quarter to determine the girls class quarter champion Columbia leading Sandy Creek right now by the score of 16 to 9 up a touchdown and I guess probably the best way to describe what happened in the half, all the defensive pressure that each team created in the first 85 feet created problems for the last 15 feet for the entire first half.
Well, you zacha right there, John.
We're talking about defense.
Both teams doing a great job of defending, getting a good drive there by Johnson.
But defense and pressure is the key.
You see good defense here by Sandy Creek kick it in transition box ball and run big steals That's what you want.
And Coach Frost knows that her teammates do the same thing.
Let's get some steals.
Let's get in transition and think we can isolate up top Alex Smith finishing at the basket.
So you know, everyone's doing a great job of defense with their pressure, but they've got to continue to make shots and cut down the turnovers here in the second half.
Let's send it over to Raven Toronto with head coach Cedric King.
Raven, Coach, what's the plan to break that 1 to 2 defense like you're playing against a wild thing where you slow down on attack.
That's the biggest problem we're not attacking.
If you look at us, we're going east west.
We just settle down and trust ourselves and trust our preparation.
We'll be okay.
A lot turnovers.
How are you going to defeat that turnover battle?
I'll play with more confidence.
It's not like they're their calls in or turnovers, but we play with confidence and attack the basket.
We take care those turnovers, but we're just not attacking the basket.
Everything is east west.
You kind of play your team like him.
You're going his way, so you got to get north south.
Thanks, coach that.
Back to you guys.
Thank you very much.
Raven.
A point, Sean, that you made also in the first half, we'll take a look at the first half numbers brought this by our friends from Farm Bureau, Georgia.
Well, the things that stand out to both of us we've talked about is turnovers 24th turnovers in the start, in the first half between both teams.
And that's not good and a stat that's not being shown.
Colombia has three assists, 13 turnovers.
Sandy Creek, one assist, 11 turnovers.
They've got it.
Both teams have got to do a better job in protecting the basketball stats provided by our friends at the West Georgia Technical College, a unit, the technical college system of Georgia Tech's SDG.
Learn more, earn more.
Columbia gets the ball to start the second 16 minutes and it's going to be a Tamia Hixon coming in with three fouls.
It's going to be something to pay attention to early on here in the third quarter for Columbia, it's Jimmy Smith and run the offense and once again into the play off the glass no good Hickson with the rebound kicks it back out Jumper looks like a three and it's no good once again Hickson a second rebound double team in the corner kicks it back out Maya Spencer won it didn't get it Here comes Sandy Creek cemetery doing what they want to do best trying to score in transition.
Can they finish it?
No, because the short answer is once again, rebound, kick back.
Looks like there's going to be a foul call on the inside.
And let's see who it's going to be.
Call maybe.
Kylie Felton But again, you talked about it just very quickly, how Smith was able to get that penetration into the defense of Sandy Creek.
Sandy Creek has to make that adjustment and keep them front.
Foul was on Felton five second count that's going to go back to Columbia.
It doesn't look like they're on the five second count.
But Katie saw center react.
Yeah, you can't change the call on the court.
You just got to keep going with the flow of the fish.
It gives you.
Samya Smith now bringing it up for Columbia, 35 seconds in Columbia.
Looks like they want to just run their rotation offense.
Nixon looking for a place to go.
And then the hooks in there's three five what's the drive throws up a three misses everything rebound by Sandy Creek this great defense there by Santa Cruz doing a good job of getting a deflection on that shot ball Jones is good for her best defender Hixon Walker guarded by Maya Spencer said good a quick time out so does it get the turnover there it's going to end up being a throw so it's been a discuss it here we see he's Tony Curtis and Mark Martin.
You have to be a presence for us.
We need you to screen on the baseline.
We need to attack offensively.
We need you to step up to the plate.
And she hasn't done that because I don't think she scored outside of just the free throws that first half.
And so she's definitely got to do a better job to give Civic Freak a chance.
Georgia Tech goods kids teamed up to compete for cash and a U.S. partnership with 2013 venture prize at Georgia Tech Group.
Been in the meeting Tuesday, March 13th, 7:00, to see the six finalists demonstrate and defend their innovations in front of a panel of expert judges and see this year's champions.
There have been some really cool inventions that have shown up on the Adventures program over the last couple of seasons.
This is something you can't miss only on TV, and it is in fact, magnificent watching the Georgia Tech students do their thing.
You know, they had some really cool things show up in Columbia in transition, triple team Spencer decides to bring it back out on the air.
He sets the offensive snap to the inside double team off the glass rimmed, outmoded rebound.
Sophia martin Martin doing a great job of securing the rebound.
Now to say to keep scoring this position is very important to get some points here on the board.
Jasmine Jones in for Sandy Grant now in possession of it nearside see rocket once again they want to hesitate a step or two before they want to.
And now they're finally getting that first impulse to pass instead of hanging on to it to try to beat this tough 122 defense from Columbia double team as Sophia martin deflected Courtney straight off the rim, no good.
And back comes Columbia.
Scoring hasn't budged in 2 minutes.
It's still a seven point advantage for Columbia here in the third quarter.
Smith having to save it, picked up by Kylie Felton and there's a whistle and see where the foul was called on here because there were a lot of different scrums going on out there on the floor.
Exactly right.
This game right now is there's no control in the game.
We talked about tempo at the beginning of the broadcast, Temple, Temple, Temple, both teams that must set any type of rhythm.
So as a result, you've got high turnovers and low assist.
Ballin Ariel Beavers, her first for Columbia.
Right now we're 206 into the third.
The defensive battle continues.
Columbia still leading Santee Creek, 69 here on the great GPB.
Welcome back.
Macon Coliseum, Macon Cineplex, Columbia, still leading Sandy Creek, 16 to 9 here in the third quarter.
Eagles up by a touchdown hasn't budged in two of six.
You want to talk to the enemy?
look at that.
That's intensity.
That's exactly how this team is playing.
And Coach Frost doing a great job of time to do the same thing of getting her girls pumped up.
But both teams got to do something special, John.
And that's cutting down on these turnovers.
Too many turnovers, too much uncharacteristic play to get you here to a championship.
And so the game has a smooth out somehow here in the second half.
Both teams a combined zero for four from the floor here in the third quarter.
It's not helping the field goal percentage is a field goal percentage is in the first half.
Sandy Creek 21%.
Columbia 30%.
Obviously, we talked about the two defensive pressures that we're seeing here, creating a lot of havoc, creating a lot of turnovers.
Well, Columbia right now, with 14 turnovers is Sandy Creek with 13.
So again, those numbers in the turnover column is definitely going up.
Jimmy Smith getting inbounds past 515, accounting for the third, Columbia, looking for their first bucket here in the third quarter off the glass no good Rebound by Sophia martin Sandy Creek Sandy Creek trying to get anything going offensively finally get it into their offensive zone and the pass is intercepted by Maya Spencer Spencer bounce pass we get our first two from and no balls knocked out of bounds it will stay with you two and a half to for the third A lot of steals and a lot of defections just got to finish there in transition.
Columbia doing a good job of getting their hands on the ball now.
Spencer getting able to advance the ball up the court and Hickson fixes it.
Still got to finish step back.
She's got to finish that play for her to actually her game to another level understandably in transition but good defense there by saying to Chris Reese Walker ploy branch in Sydney Jarman out for Sandy Creek right now Columbia once again trying to get their first two on the board sound great the man had it briefly in the corner Spencer dribble drive baseline partially blocked by Sophia mann back out to Smith and we'll start it all over again right here Sandy Creek State didn't do a great job with it Stay in front of her.
Don't allow the drive and the penetration to stay right in front of her.
And they did a great job of forcing the uncharacteristic shot.
Shantay Frost is brought in star Noel to try to counteract the film.
Martin Jump shot is good.
We finally have some points here in the third quarter courtesy of Jasmine Jones.
Well, Jasmine Jones came down and knocked out the 19 foot jump shot.
So hopefully now that creates a little bit more positive momentum for Santa Cruz to start scoring the basketball.
It's another turnover for Columbia.
And here's your look at this coming stepping into the shot foot was on the line.
Not a three was a two long two.
But that's exactly what Santa Creek means.
Come out here and get an easy basket.
Jones is able to actually able to do that.
Backboard of Jones and Walker right now try it again off the rim no good rebound picked up on the inside by Shaun Recommande so dribble out with it give dispenser in the offensive zone look didn't run twice for their for the Jones just missing the long range jump shot Spencer with a little push shot rimmed out twice no good Sophia martin with the rebound man tries to harass from no good Sandy Creek trying to do something in transition drive on the baseline shot up no good by Kelly Branch but they're going to call a whistle and a foul John.
Honestly, I'm starting to feel a momentum change.
Sandy Creek starting to give it a little bit more rhythm now.
I think the jump shot actually helped Higa with the drive.
Hip Hop Ranch is doing a great job being nice and a long shot.
Like us, she's kind of like Sam Perkins.
Nice talking at the free throw line, so you got to make one these two so you could lead down to four.
Alicia Harris calling for the foul.
It's her third.
So that means that Harris has three and Dixon has three.
You have to pay attention to those foul numbers for Columbia.
Another substitution, Senior Smith will sit Shantay Cross trying to find some kind of combination that's going to work for second free throws.
No good.
1611 405 to go for the third quarter.
Spencer will bring it up and run the offense for Columbia.
Guarded by Ricci Walker Spencer will leave it back out Hassan's Rica man trying to dribble around the perimeter go on the inside blocked by Sophia martin picks it up steps on the in-line No it's going to stay with the line we'll see what Mark does He's a presence in the paint defensively Coach King talked about it.
She's the caboose of their defense.
Everything actually goes to her.
And she's the last person to defend the basket inbound into the paint.
Nixon throws it high off the glass.
No good.
We're going to call a push.
The Knicks will make it to the free throw line.
And it's fallen foul on Sophia martin and that's her second goal.
Every coach knows you got a good defensive presence, a go shot blocker, the best thing offensively is continue to drop, hopefully pick up a foul along the way.
First free throw up and good by Hicks and makes it 1711 second free throw too hard for players in the paint for Sandy Creek not even contesting the shot so is an easy rebound for Sandy Creek to try to start their offense over again.
Branch working pass to the inside Sophia martin They're going to call a push on Columbia as Martin was trying to reach for the basketball and create something just watch within the first half I talked about a way to attack the one, two two zone and it's not up top is definitely on the baseline all the way to right there where it was that Chloe was able to come in and attack there on the wing and Martin was able to come up with the foul.
The 26 point victory for Sandy Creek, you saw the numbers with Martin Lewis crashing force, 14 of them go against the Bulldogs to keep them from making their way to make it once again another foul as we see what they're trying to drive this time for same group.
And you can kind of see what Cedric King's trying to do he's trying to create offense by drive and you get all these whistles and you're creating fouls in foul situations and that's felt is third now, is that right?
Jumbo The drive is coming from the wing, not from the top.
How it was the first half big looping inbound.
Find your biggest target.
Sophia martin grabs it.
Lisa Walker Trying to find some kind of entry.
She does tries a little hop step and we're going to call a foul once again, three straight possessions, three straight fouls.
This time it looks like it's going to be called Kylie Felton with its film Fourth.
Let's take a look at it is again, when I say penetrate from the wing, everything is free throw line extended and lower.
So if you get a chance to get the ball down the wing feet, the line is in lower.
Offensively, you can attack that 1 to 2 zone the well having to come in now that Felton has picked up his fourth, it's going to be interesting to see how that things for Columbia drive into the paint off the glass no good wild shot coming out with it Mia Spencer can't she control looks like she will as she's guarded by Ricci Walker up the floor and they're going to call Walker for a foul as she's trying to guard the past half court.
My guess is so strong and so soft with the basketball.
Some ran down the loose ball, maintain their balance into her control, and she did a great job of just controlling.
Look at her going to NC State next year, just doing a great job of controlling the basketball in the game.
But doing one thing that I love, she's not losing her.
Where we see Walker got called for the foul.
The Columbia once again calling for a throw there.
So Sean Frost once again trying to figure out all these different combinations.
You just get one that's going to work for the six point lead.
For the third year in a row, Georgia Public Broadcasting will probably have a pass one block and tackle as the 2013 Georgia high school football season kicks off in the Georgia Dome on the great GPB for the 22nd annual Corky Fail class at five big games five classic match ups.
It's a full day of high school football with teams from all over the state and then talk with still a bunch hanging out from breakfast to midnight.
So don't miss the 22nd 40 Cal Classic.
Pick me up right early at 9 a.m. for a daylong high school football extravaganza, as Mark Harmon likes to say here on the great GPB, be in August and August really isn't all that far away.
And it's going to be great to have football back on TV for a third season.
Yeah, but winning basketball season and getting here to the round ball, we cannot get rid of that.
We're coming home with the next thing with the drive there to make it 1911 for Columbia, 243 to go third quarter.
What's Columbia now with that one two to have extended it more beyond the half court range, forcing them to keep the play a little bit more deeper outside on the perimeter.
Jasmine Jones trying to find some kind of entry point couldn't find it in the baseline double teamed Sophia martin now with it near the paint tries to elbow our way through and they're going to call steps instead of a foul.
Yeah that's not her strength That's not Martin strength.
The ball goes into the paint.
She's got to do a better job of actually capitalizing.
But here's Columbia, this group of draws and hits and is doing a great job of continuous attacking and getting her first points five and a half minutes had to go before Columbia got that first basket in the third quarter.
As we approach 2 minutes to go here in the third and another whistle coach was the first to really believe that call as it was called on Star.
No, that's Noelle's first order.
You look at this he's got Harris Nixon with three from Griffin, man with four being Martin the attempt to the bucket there there's another foul call six fouls so far on Columbia here as we just cleared 2 minutes to go and that's Nixon's fourth.
So that's creating even more of a situation possibly for Sandy Creek as we get to the final 8 minutes with all of these fouls accumulate.
John got back to one of the teams we talked about with Columbia.
They have to stay out of foul trouble.
That's been their crutch throughout the playoffs.
Foul trouble, foul trouble.
Now they're putting themselves into position.
Unfortunately, Sandy Creek just can't capitalize here.
The free throw line, second free throw up off the back of the rim.
No good, Sophia Martin in both the shoe minus Smith now in his Hixon has to take his seat so it's Smith man Spencer no and Melissa Harris for Columbia there's five into the paint blocked by Martin picked up by no internet and the foul you know sometimes a bit of offense is post players being at the right place at the right time and that's what started all of this there.
Here's Martin Campbell with the block here able to finish up and get the three point play perfect opportunity.
Looks like Martin tried to get the body out of bounds, makes the free throw roll just a sophomore.
So she's going to get better.
That young girl has some more years to play third foul on Sophia martin.
So now we're going to have to keep an eye on that for the last 90 seconds of the third.
Plus another 8 minutes ball knocked out of bounds.
my goodness.
As Melissa Harris was trying to defend over the top.
So we'll see what Sandy Creek can do as they come all the way back to their back.
The start for the last 90 seconds, 2211, Columbia scored six points in the quarter looking to score more off the turnover long outlet.
But they're going to call steps on Spencer for the outlet all the way down the floor to Sandra Kimmy earlier here in the third quarter Sandy Creek looked like they were starting to take a little bit more momentum towards their way.
Now Columbia is able to come back look like they've gained more of the momentum and is going to carry to 11 point lead here to the fourth quarter.
Hopefully Crosby Ranch double team gets it back to reason.
ROCCA Once again, a three person game going for Sandy break off the triangle Jumper is Good by Jasmine Jones with a three and Sandy Creek needed that.
my gosh.
What they need?
What's that exactly, John?
Just another opportunity to score on the perimeter and put into this league perimeter problems for Sandy creek salt temporarily for that Noel gets blocked by Martin once and twice third time blocked in a row knocked out of bounds looked like it was off the Lisa Harris last and the discussion ends it's going to go saying things like yeah yeah.
Sandy Creek did a great job of just penetrating there by throwing and finding Jones there on the perimeter The Saints Mark she made her first outside shot to Ben Martin on the defensive end getting it done just going straight up and down avoids the foul use of her lip and her size.
First block brought it back.
Second block picked it back out, turn over again.
Sandy Creek Harris stops and gets the easy way up in 35 seconds to go.
Columbia now 2414 Sandy Creek with an interesting question here.
Do they play for one?
Do they try to play for more than one?
Looks like they got to score the ball.
It's not about playing for one, John.
It's about getting the score as quickly and as effective as possible.
And you can't score any better than a three point play.
Jasmine Jones Hot for Sandy Creek here late in the third, 16.7 to go And here's another chance for another three the easy way for Jasmine Jones.
Well you know what that it's a product of foul trouble.
Columbia's in foul trouble.
So you've got star there.
The paints are in the will not accustomed to playing so many minutes effectively defensively instead of taking advantage of that lack of size there from Columbia eight points in the quarter for Jones she's got ten Sandy Creek's got it back to a seven point Columbia lead.
At 2417 Spencer gets her pocket pick.
Can Sandy Creek get it done by the end of the quarter?
The answer is 4/10 of a second away.
It's going to have to be a quick set and go here.
Thought it might look to use her after work ability to tap in in or work the perimeter.
Try to figure something out quick touch and go.
Jasmine Jones off the rim.
No good.
She tried to keep her hot third quarter ways going, but it was seven at the half.
It's now seven at the end of three 8 minutes to go to decide the girls class.
What a champion Columbia 8 minutes away from repeating 2417 here on the great GPP walk it back make it policymaking center cineplex 8 minutes to decide the girls class 40 champion Columbia leading by seven 2417.
The margin did not change from halftime watch Georgia outdoors from inside your living room be able to cozy up with mats and frogs hang on the beach with sea turtles and kayaked down the ultimate river.
Get while with Sharon Collins and nature watch Georgia outdoors on the great GPP stunning show Sherri Collins videographer Shane Keating do some amazing work to show you what George outdoors is all about here on Georgia Public Broadcasting marks the 30th at 8:30 p.m. is the next go round for Georgia outdoors if you really want to see what's going on with Georgia outdoors, watch GPB And there is something that we really are going to need to pay attention to in the last 8 minutes.
All those numbers in parentheses aren't good for Columbia.
I guess I could write foul trouble, something that they've got a lot of concern going on on that bench right now.
Coach Cross having to go deep into her bench, which allowed Sandy Creek to get a little confidence going into the fourth quarter.
So important for them to keep himself, which is his second leading scorer.
She's got to maintain her composure, not foul.
But then you got to fell to number 32 is not starting in the fourth quarter.
She's leading them in rebounding.
She has fouls as well.
But down the post, Mann is the third leading scorer for Columbia.
So you're second year.
Third leading scorers are in trouble with four.
So it's going to be interesting to see how Sandy Creek tries to attack and how Shantay Frost, the head coach for Columbia, tries to counteract the attack of Sandy Creek here in the last 8 minutes, 2417 Sandy Creek chasing after that first title three pointer A is good.
And then you want to talk someone who has been hot in the second half.
It's been the back court.
Sidney Jarman with the three, this time for Sandy Creek, the back court finally getting that outside shooting going well once that backcourt up and allows the shots to be made.
Now he can go inside out and play the type of play in style the cemetery likes to play, but they got to hit those premiere shots is exactly what they're doing here in the fourth quarter.
Fouling Ricci Walker.
Her third, the three was four.
Jasmine Jones has had a really hot hand here in the second half, three going after it.
Nixon Spencer alternating position stays heading to the right hand side of your screen.
So Columbia will inbound when Spencer one more time but Martin was able to get her six block of the game just doing a great job of being a presence there in the post.
Hopefully her teammates can help her out to get some points on the board.
Hixon and Smith playing catch up close to half court, guarded by Jasmine Jones dribbling into the paint.
Nice dish off to Hart, off glass rebound, put back no good knocked out of bounds It's going to go Sandy for its way Looks like now the game is changing a little bit momentum John now towards Sandy creek sandy creek holding down the floor defensively now making some shots as well too.
Sandy creek's had a six over one over the last couple of minutes.
They're three for eight from the floor in the third quarter, 38%.
Columbia for 16 in the third quarter.
Sandy Creek found some ways to get to the outside and get some shooting taking the Gina Smith, one of the three officials there into the table looks like she's okay.
Tim Buchner and Bill Lewis the other two.
Let's take a look at how Regina Smith well that's Hickson with great hustle it's a good hip check in hockey.
my gosh Physical basketball is a contact sport dribble drive easy to that time for reasons after this and it breaks got down to two Dylan I'm telling you right now I take it 1 to 2 on the baseline in the way you can't take it from up top for the outside.
Shoot it by saying the creek is allowed.
They open up a little bit more for an opportunity to drive.
Hickson, guarded by Sidney, trying to work the perimeter.
She's got four fouls.
Spencer, guarded by Richie Walker.
This is Columbia's late game.
What they do like to isolate the club, take some time off the clock here to high stack.
And that's a way for them to use the time and not wear their team out offensively.
It's got to be careful trying to figure out what she wants to do with the basketball.
It's like they're going to call Sidney Jarman for the foul, you know, run for safety, Bring started the 12 seconds to go in the third quarter.
So you're talking the last minute 56 to get these eight points on the board for the fighting patriots and it looks like a timeout has been called to talk things over for celebrities call it the full ride with the margin down to two and you've seen and you talked about how to go after this one, two, two, and now Shantay Cross is trying to figure something else out because it's been a consistently it's been a ten a 7 to 10 four ballgame now.
It's a two point ballgame.
And you're getting down to cases here in the last six, six days.
Well, first of all, Columbia's number one focus right now is to get rest.
That was the time I took control of the game.
That was a timeout, John, to get some rest, get her players under control and coach a little bit teach them and help them get to the next phase of this game, which is taking it home with the goal.
But with 6 minutes and 16 seconds left, the momentum now changes towards.
Sand Creek.
Sand Creek has a lot more fight in them, a lot more energy.
And Columbia just can't get caught up and let their Moses take the throw.
And that was one of the things that you had said in the keys to the game is they were supposed to keep their composure because they were threatened in the Jonesboro game in the semifinal and now they're being threatened.
They had a consistent lead, as many as double digits quite consistently, seven.
It's now down to two with 6 minutes to go.
Right.
So here's a chance and here's here's the win.
McKEW Spencer Maya Spencer, this is where she needs to step up to the plate and control and run her team.
Spencer Inbound to Hickson and it looks like there's a foul call on Sandy people.
She was called on Walker on the Joslyn.
The inside ref goes in to talk to Nixon like, okay, everything just stay cool, everything's fine, but we're going to the line for that shows the physicality and the toughness of these two teams, tough coaches, these girls, and limits.
They take it all, the physicality, the mindset from the coaches as well.
This good, clean, solid basketball move, this play on the court as well.
Fourth quarter field goal percentage.
Sandy Creek, the first of 242 Columbia has missed their three shots in free throws up and good to make it 2522 margin back up to three Nixon and now with six points well after his seventh and gets it yeah she knew that that free throw line just got four fouls he's got to be careful they need her on the here at the end averaging 15.8 and she's only halfway there in this particular ballgame here to decide the class quarter championship Nice pass to the inside shift to a rock Martin for these two hey, she's got to be graceful because her teammates have now opened it up because it hit the house that shot.
She's can get some easy baskets inside the paint, 26, 24 under 6 minutes to go regulation And there's that pressure defense through Sandy Creek that we've known to expect all season long Spencer bumping into some recommande trying to get something going driving baseline baseline jumper good well Spencer so your watch is going to NC State was great body control great awareness on the court and then the drive to the basket pull up for the sophomore with the jump shot Walker trying to bring it down out of control over Sidney Jarman out of bounds goes back to Columbia and here's the last one.
Yes.
Spencer Just being under control, knowing not to go so deep, forcing him to step up.
Watch it.
Nice soft touch, finish with a two and we got a full timeout call on the other side.
Now, after that shot, after the pass goes out of bounds, Cedrick Kane trying to keep everything under control.
You don't want to let the game get away from you.
Let's take a look at Sandy Creek's run over the last couple of minutes to get them close.
Were at two and now Columbia is at four with 523.
We'll take a look at the last bucket.
Just good aware to see how stable the defense is because of the outside shots.
MARTIN Now has an open car inside the paint.
Her teammates did a great job of finding her for her to finish with the left hand layup.
If you said great thing, what are you trying to impart here?
Rather vocal.
You got to continue to fight.
He's showing the intensity his girls have to have.
Keep that fire inside.
Let's burn, Don't get knocked down.
You got to bring the fight to them.
Don't let them bring the fight to you.
Because remember, the philosophy of Sandy Creek has always been about inventory.
It's something that they picked up from the Boston Celtics.
It's pretty much the power of one over the power of everyone else to as I could.
Right.
We've come here as a unit.
We'll fight as a unit.
My dad used to say all four, one one, all together we stand, divided we fall.
But this team is doing a great job saying the creek, a stand is one stand cohesive.
We can only win this game Center Creek if we all fight together.
Fourth quarter field goal numbers.
Sandy Creek has hit their three attempts.
Columbia 25% for the quarter, one for four first half.
Sandy Creek was both for 19, the second half and now six for 11.
So they're now shooting 33% for the second, 56%, the second half to get the discussions right now with seniors still something that happened in front of the Columbia banks little extracurricular with it that's expected to happen again.
We talked about this, Tony.
They've got to keep their composing, you know, your point guard.
And she's been the key to Columbia's success so far here in the game.
SMITH Being able to penetrate that defense by saying the creek, she's got to maintain her composure on the court.
Natalie Williams down the game for Columbia a sophomore runner up No good fight for the inside high off the glass up and in for these three and a turnover for Columbia off the inbounds makes it a two point game at Sandy Creek has a chance to tie now John just remember what happened when Smith came off the court heard that fish kind of had a little misunderstanding.
It may have been a make up call without calling technical fouls.
Sandy Creek once again drive up and we've got a tie game.
An easy one.
Attack, attack, attack.
Posting what's his team to attack for the guy to get back on defense and celebrate the time today along open against the basket coming back the other way 3028 for 44 to go in regulation before the tie at 28 the last tie was it for all 435 to go regulation spin move off the glass.
In the end, Jasmine Jones has been hot in the second half and she continues it there.
She has this team on her back, making plays on the perimeter, opening up the defense and forcing to come here to play on the heels game tied at 3420 to go, regulation thrown no good by Natalie Williams Sandy Creek trying to get it in transition to on to pop the glass off the rim no good coming up with it once again trying to slow things down with Colombian suns recommande it gets to maya spencer spencer looking to dribble into the paint.
She does a color whistle and a foul with 357 to go.
So this is a chance, if I'm close to you have to use a timeout.
So you got 3 minutes and 57 seconds left in the game.
You talk your tired, your team is tired so it's good to use the clock with the media comes up use the media take your timeout spark save them to their first foul intensely James Spencer away from going back into the game Kylie Felton replacing Natalie Williams for the lineup for Columbia Felton Hickson man Melissa Harris and Maya Spencer right now with 354 to go game tied at 30 Jasmine Jones thought about the three she's had range here in the fourth quarter, in the third quarter then the spark that Sandy Creek has needed offensively Courtney Street looking to drive on Hickson she does ball's knocked out of bounds stays with Sandy free to both teams right now John a very tired fatigue is becoming a major factor here down the stretch because it used so much energy defensively that you know the teams need a little risk and they have to be under control.
Looking for the big looping pass knocked away.
Spencer makes some more hits and gets the layup.
Answer yes yes yeah yeah Great job of hoops before advancing the ball after eight after turnover in the last bucket right there.
Once again turnovers coming up Huge turnout was a big especially when you can attack after a turnover That's exactly what Columbia does really a really good job at attacking the defense.
A turnover and hits it playing well before foul.
She knows this team needs her so she's not going to put herself in a position to pick up that fifth foul on Lisa Harris.
It's Also her fourth mile first free throw up and good by Lisa Walker.
Lisa Walker is a tough senior point guard getting recruited by a lot of D Tuesday in the state of Georgia.
So for a lot of the coaches of watching her and she's done a great job of handling the pressure back by Columbia, but more importantly, keep it this same bit.
Pretty good focus.
Kelly Branch into the German out second free throw off the back of the rim no good Sophia martin tried to come over the top for the rebound didn't get it Spencer bringing it up now for Columbia 32 to 31.
Columbia up only one back and forth.
Fourth quarter Sandy freaks climb the mountain down as many as can consistently down by seven.
Came back late in the third, early in the fourth to make it a tie ballgame.
Columbia Now as it is a one point lead, Spencer throws up a shot with a one point lead shot.
So good.
They're going to call a foul.
Yeah.
Now the play you want to move your post cross don't wants Pearson they don't go one on one We up by one point with 3 minutes to go but at the same time you coach King you don't want your defense to bail her out.
That's exactly what they did with the foul there on March six.
That's Martin's fourth.
So now segregating she has to be concerned with his big post presence, one power away from being out for the rest of the ballgame, however long that is.
And as you notice, Columbia, just like their boys basketball team, they don't put girls down the lane unless it's a late game situation.
They want to keep their defense sit here for the press.
Spencer makes one of two under 3 minutes now to go regulation Jasmine Jones with a free safety break trying to find a to dribble in deep very dangerous cross-court pass to Chloe looking to drive a little foul foul on Columbia for a foul on Fredricka man that's her second in the branch to shoot to from Sandy Creek A lot of players with a lot of fouls and a lot of dangerous steps that are going to have to be taken here in the last 254 free throw up and Good by Kobe Bryant.
Yeah.
Yeah, Johnny, Exactly right.
A lot of fouls on these teams they got 2 minutes and 50 seconds left for the season.
I think you have to go all out these last few minutes to try to play and win a championship.
Second free throw by Branch is up on the ropes.
He's made up for and Sandy Creek has drawn even once again with Columbia tied at 33 to 45 to go Regulation Spencer one and one on the offense.
Most of her hand takes him with the drive no good Sophia martin with the rebound Sandy free for the teams that take the lead Jasmine Jones guarded by Hickson remember Hickson has four Jones took a good was taking her back to get back on defense because it could allow easy baskets in the transition.
Hickson had the easy transition of love took the extra step, they called it.
And so Sandy Creek preserves the two point lead.
Here's your bucket right there by Jasmine Jones.
JONES 17 to lead Sandy Creek.
She's got 15 second half points far and away the leading scorer for Sandy Creek.
Sophia martin gets on the inside of a routine Jones with six in the quarter.
Let's go to the free throw numbers that have gone to my team so far this morning and you see Sandy Creek five for 13.
A lot of bears have been one and ones Columbia have missed a few here and there, seven for 11 for Sandy Creek.
A lot of those three goals this time have one and one could easily have been another two point game by Sandy Creek, possibly an eight or ten point lead.
Nixon picks up her fifth and so she will sit down with 206 to go first three four up and get back to follow Marvin as he was doing look it now the way that Columbia's playing, they're not playing their 1 to 2 zone anymore.
Now they're to man to man and slapping all the ball screens that Sandy Creek has and don't know what happening here.
On the bonus, Paula Court Looks like Coach Frost is looking to call a throw and she's going to get to do it in between the two free throws.
This.
So now she's got a whole lot to think about.
We're talking about Shawn Frost Nixon is out of the game after having a very productive second half, finishing with 11 points.
The leading scorer, once again, a leading scorer by far, but Columbia Spencer with five, Smith with eight, Felton with four.
Nixon has 11, Harris has four and Stardust has three for Columbia.
And so now what do you do for the second leading scorer now sitting for the rest of the ballgame.
Well you got it attack you got a school transition like you've been doing all night long.
Spencer has to take over the game.
It's just got to keep it more as a play.
Controlled safety freak.
Now you get a chance to hit the go up four with 2 minutes to go.
It's about possessions, defense, defense, possessions.
It comes down to what we talked about.
John play defense is that that's exactly what sandy Creek has done.
Sophie martin set for the second free throw.
It is up and has shored up the front of the rim.
No one boxed out the shooters.
She had a chance to get it on the rebound, but Columbia will come up with it.
Spencer brings it up the floor, down three under, 2 minutes to go.
No one guarding baseline Spencer off the glass up and in easy to and we're back to a one point game Columbia now compress as I can John that's exactly what I said she's got to take over but right Sandy Creek has got to get the ball over the court.
Look at 15.
The power timeout zones has helped separate King calls.
Time out.
How serious is Senator King now with now 100 seconds to go, you see that low tide He's come out of the ball, toe tie is out and the top button is undone.
Cedric King is going to be intense, even more intense for the last hundred seconds.
And here is why said King is hot.
my gosh.
What hit Spencer right here?
Feet under control, driving to the basket, avoiding the help defense, using her body to get that easy to see special.
She is good.
Can she take her team to the championship because she's the lone scorer out there for Columbia High School.
Columbia led by 11 at 1.22 to 11 before saying three for 25 on the board, 25 to 13.
If you want to talk about someone who's had a hot second half, it's been Jasmine Jones from the outside.
Yeah, she has her shooting ability.
Her confidence has allowed Sandy Creek to get back in this game, take the lead and she's a stay in attack with timely attack attack attack outside inside she's putting it up.
Jones has almost half of 43 points.
Yes 17 the next highest scorer on Sandy Creek are both scratching Mark Wow Jones is seven of 13 from the floor by herself six of ten from the floor in the second hand 8 seconds to go regulation looking to inbound help any help on thrown away by Tracy Walker so Columbia is going to get the basketball you know John may have been on Coach King's behalf a little bit over coaching you should of just throwing the ball into Martin and allowed Walker to get the ball.
It's very simple right now.
Sometimes we as coaches can only coach and put our kids in the best, which Alicia Harris will inbound guarded by Courtney St and almost in over her back by those nice Mia Smith knocked out of bounds pressure by Reese Walker off Maya Spencer heads to Sandy creek Yeah but that's that Smith there with the one handed bounce pass skip across the court that's not going to fly at any level And there's your idea that they took part in inbound to Sophia martin to take advantage of her height and wingspan to get it into the offensive zone.
86 seconds to go regulation.
Chloe Branch looked like she dragged the right foot.
Didn't happen.
So, see, I'm not looking for somebody, anybody to pass who decides she's going to try to do something with it and against branch left hand rims out.
No good.
Martin fights for the rebound, gets it picked back up by Sandy Creek, intercepted by Spencer.
Not out of bounds.
She can't save it into the Columbia bench.
Look out.
You see right now both coaches are coaching their teams to the tee, doing a great job.
But right now you just can't have a cross-court pass away the basket in the half court.
And Spencer just laying it all out in line knowing that this is her last game playing for Columbia High School for history to pass into the back court substitutions.
Now Jasmine Jones is back in for seeing once again.
Looks like they're going to try to inbound to Sophia Martin, take advantage of that wingspan.
And they do 60 seconds to go regulation.
Can Sandy Creek climb the mountain all day?
Hang on here with a one point lead at 3630 shot, No good.
Shania Smith will bring it up for Columbia under 50 seconds.
Not the shot you want.
If you in the creek, use the time on the clock.
Spencer picked up by Jasmine Jones loses her footing tries to find a handle anybody scrum who's got it timeout Paul everything gave it to us and he's going to call a full circle to avoid all the possession going back Columbia's way a smart call using the timeout that he had in the book.
Well, you know what, John?
You're right.
I think coach kind of surprised himself that he called a timeout and the officials actually him the ball, because you're right, the position error was not going his way.
He set all the time out.
Ball And so he's done with time out.
Columbia has only one left.
So he's going to have to try to figure out how to do something with 35.6 and a one point lead.
Well, we're done.
You got one timeout with no timeouts left now by Sandy Creek, what you do on dead balls is good, too.
So if you can ask to teach your kids, have a sub ready to with all their balls, it gives you a little bit time to get your feet physical.
You often say.
So he's got to learn how to now utilize the clock utilized when it gets gifts and bow tie has all but disappeared.
Now that's done.
It has.
He won't be able to talk.
He wins this game which probably never gets will either way, because both Shawn Frost and Cedric King have had a great chess match here in the fourth quarter.
Fourth quarter field goal number 77 of ten, 70% in the fourth quarter.
Columbia, four of nine.
So Sandy Creek will inbound.
And I'm going to ask the person who sent the ball in here to Mark John to be very simple.
Now all you have to do is use the clock as your friend, Chloe Branch will use Martin as a pick that time.
Get into the walk as he is walking, guarded by Spencer Jasmine Jones looking to help out near half court 25 and a person Spencer with 25.8 and that's Spencer third double bonus now for standing three two shots for Ricci Walker to make it a more difficult one possession game if the senior guard hits both the free throws first went up missed every time so what I'm talking about John such a defense he's used to dead ball situations now to sub in and step out said to be missed right now that was a lot of pressure on that free throw Courtney Street in for Sandy Creek you see Walker the second free throw up and going 2.3 25.8 this into the practice free throw that's all she needed Spencer bringing it up court for Columbia Shantay flies has one time out 18 seconds and it looks like she's going to use it to fall 17.7 to go regulation so.
All right, all right.
There's a reason I call you the coach.
I appreciate.
See the coach?
Now you're tape frost.
What do you say?
Well, first of all, you're trying to get the ball into Spencer.
She's the key.
She's a catalyst offensively.
Use a high ball screen.
Let her three.
But what you don't want is you don't want her to go to isolation to surmise.
SMITH You had a lot of success in the first half, four to isolate one on one.
One of those two girls are going to get the ball and try to penetrate you.
Make a move now, get Sandy Creek.
On the other hand, it's about containing the basketball all game long.
They focus on pressure, pressure, pressure, forced outside shot.
It's okay to take the outside shot.
Just don't let them get you to the point and then you've got to secure the rebound.
If you're saying freak and let's if they listen to you as we come back out for the last 17.7 double bonus situation for Sandy Creek, this it has ten fouls.
Sandy Creek has nine with Maya Spencer anticipating she's going to have a lot to say when it comes to the offense.
She's been bringing it up the for most of the people for Maya Smith and also along with Melissa Harris Sunday command inbound to man and she is swarmed by Chloe Grant's grant with the push off drive.
No good.
There's a whistle on the inside.
Let's see who it's on.
It's like.
They're going to call it on Grant.
That's her first.
Let's take a look at it.
With 12.4, his man just being strong to the basket.
But she kicked over the defense.
But the it from outside follow the ball, which is his which is his role.
It was able to call the foul here not man it had the chance to possibly tie the game with 12.4 it looked like she stepped on branches instead he got spun out.
It would have close to throw by Sonderkommandos.
Good night.
Straight 47% free throws shooter on the year 43 of 92 coming in the ten rebound opportunity here for Sand Creek man she's been tough I think she comes up short rebound Flash Spencer's got it 10 seconds something's got to happen three pointer off the rim no bit underneath Good for 5 seconds and count it when he gets to the rim.
And the top scorer and Sandy Springs Santee fast in a state of disbelief along with the rest of the Columbia team and go through it for me.
Well, here's the outside shot.
The one key to get in the game was rebounding.
You have to be able to rebound the basketball.
And it started the free throw.
Now this is a second chance opportunity.
Sandy Creek just capitalizing off of the missed opportunity.
Excuse me Columbia, capitalize about the missed opportunity from Sandy Creek finish in there the basket man doing a great job of scoring and winning the game Raven Tirado with a victorious Shantay Frost gets in right now.
Unbelievable.
I don't know.
I'm not sure.
I bet that was one heck of a finish the third in four years.
What do you think this means to these girls?
it means a lot, especially to see you hit the last shot.
It just means so much to them.
They worked so hard.
And we got back to this place.
They thought we couldn't get back to this place, and we got back with a young team and a fantastic, fantastic win.
And I'm so happy for the seniors.
I'm so happy for us in this house.
Congratulations.
Enjoy the win.
Back to you guys.
Thank you very much.
Raven Andre Command.
No points for the first three quarters.
Got the free throw and the field goal in the last 12 four.

That's a great win, an exciting game on behalf of the GHC again, congratulations, players and coach.
All right, let's talk to the coach right off the bat.
You're holding the big trophy.
Talk about this team and what a dramatic buzzer beater win.
wow.
It's the worst.
We graduated five seniors last year and wasn't quite sure whether the young team could make it back.
But I'm so glad that I have these seniors.
I only have two seniors and the young ones, they were relentless, they were fearless, they were disciplined and they was focused.
And those are the things that we focus on.
I'm so happy they're saying the man made the last shot.
I was going to say, Man, man.
But that's even a better word.
Tell us about that last second shot.
Time's running down.
Your team's behind, The game is on the line.
The state championship on the line.
What happened?
Take us through it.
Heart to heart.
That's the heart.
I want to win this game.
You guys never gave up.
Even when the momentum changed.
There the fourth quarter.
I know.
It's just hard.
That's how like I say, hard.
All right.
Maya Spencer, you were one of the team leaders out there.
Talk about what this victory means to you.
It means the world to leave Columbia High School with another state championship, to lead the younger girls and us and to actually just win.
It means lot to me and Sandra and the whole team and the coaching staff.
You're a senior.
You're going out with back to back titles.
That's got to be great.
Yes, it is.
I will hold that high.
It is Columbia, the Lady Eagles, three or four two in a row, the 2013 boring state champions.
And now let's send it over to Claire Simms with our GP tailgate party.
All right, Mark, thank you so much and congratulations again to those Lady Eagles.
And a tailgate party starts right now.
