Three games in the books, two more to go, including this quad.
A semi final between the Shore Raiders and the Caro sirup makers.
And good evening, everybody, and welcome to the Georgia Dome.
I'm Jim Tanaka.
So it's been a great day of football here at the Dome, the quad, a two teams that are involved.
Well, Carroll beat Mary's 20 to nothing in the quarter finals to advance to the dome.
Meantime, Schor top Murray County 33 to 6 joining me as guest analyst here for the quarter a semifinal once again from Dublin High School Sam bars Sammy hey listen you know I got Dexter water out there and now he's won the semifinal game here at the dome.
Your next buddy.
You told me you're gonna get me on the carpet one day.
How about doing that?
I'll tell you what.
It's.
I'm proud of Dexter for winning that game today.
Good job.
Boy, has he got a great football team.
I wish him luck next week.
I know they're excited to be fit.
All right, how about this big game right here between Caro and Shaw?
Well, you got to find football teams.
Two great defenses.
One, giving up 5.5 points a ballgame in Cairo and show give it up 6.5 points a game.
And the winner will play the winner of Creekside Statesboro.
That game will be played tomorrow here at the Georgia Dome.
And we can't wait for that one.
All right.
Now, we'll throw it across the way to the two guys that'll call this one Charles Ward and Jesse Tuggle.
Hey, Charles.
Jimmy, good to see you again.
As as well as Coach Bar's Charles Ward here, along with Jesse, the hammer tackle of the Atlanta Falcons with the play call for this quarter eight semifinal ballgame between the Raiders and the Sierra makers.
And Jesse, let's start out by talking about the Raiders have Shaw a potent offense they have primarily on the ground.
I tell you what, man the Raiders coming here with a very impressive offense.
They really can move the football.
You look at guys like Sterling Jenkins, he's a guy who can push the ball downfield.
They also have another back.
And Lamar Lucas again who can really run the ball down.
You see right now, impressive record of 13.
No, and a passing yards, a 17.
But what most impressive of all is their rushing yards.
So the defense got their hands full tonight.
33 yards on the ground for that radar offense.
Take a look at Sterling Jenkins.
He's certainly a big part of that offensive push.
Sterling Jenkins is a legit back here.
He's the type of guy who can get the ball up and down the field.
He was beat up a little bit.
He came back strong and this kid has a big career.
Rushing is over 3000 yards.
So I know he can get the ball down the field.
He'll get it down the field, but it'll be contending against a strong set up maker defense.
They are pretty balanced on offense as well.
Hey, desert make a defense is a typical defense.
They can get you to the big game and that's one reason they're here right now.
They have two linebackers with over 100 yards and 100 tackles.
As you can see right now, this team has this team offense is the 12 and one, you know, that passer over 1100 yards and given and made 12 TDs but was mostly impressive.
What got them here is that defense.
Defense wins football games.
Certainly balanced on defense and the offense potent under the leadership of a freshman quarterback, the son of the head coach, Blake Field.
You know what I tell you right now, the Raiders going to have the handful they got.
They got to put pressure on these guys because any time you start a freshman, you know, he's the type of guy you want him to make mistakes.
But this kid can get the ball, he can really pass the football.
So it's going to be interesting to see you continue to work your offense, particularly in a high situation like the playoffs.
As you take a look at the Sierra, mike is getting ready to come out.
Let's go to coach warren field and his thoughts about their game plan for the season.
So we're going to go with what we've been doing all year long.
Will primarily run the football team.
You know, we're going to establish our power game as quick as we can.
And but but basically, we're going to take what the defense gives us.
And from what I understand.
Shelton gave you much.
So we're going to do what we can are off defensively.
You know we've got a basic.
Plan with the.
Know we call them out attack and and they're going they're going to do their best.
To keep sharp under control.
Coach Warren Field his thoughts about the ball game against the Raiders of Shaw.
And certainly if the Shaw defense doesn't give him anything, Sarat makers are going to have to make a and take it.
You know, to sort of make us our team who have been here before.
Jon Nelson, our sideline reporter standing by now.
What do you got now?
Much as just the key matchup, from my perspective, the way I'm looking at it, what about the show on the offensive line against the Cairo defensive line?
SHAW Across the board, offensive line averaging about to 80.
And I actually had to look this up twice.
Nose guard for Cairo.
Allen Copeland 591 65 And that's without shoes.
So he's going right up against Tommy Smith, the center who's.
325.
Maybe as the game goes along, we can check with the hammer and find out what that kind of a matchup is.
Before I send it to Jim, one question for Chaz in The Hammer.
Jesse, if you're the hammer, the what part of the tool kit are Charles and I?
Jim, back to you.
All right, John.
Mr..
QUESTION All the answers when we return to the Georgia Dome.
It's the quad semifinal.
Charles Ward, Jesse Tucker will have the call for you, Shaw versus Carroll coming up next.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV.
Welcome back to the quad semifinals.
Sirup makers won the toss.
They deferred.
They will kick it away.
It will be the Raiders, a show on offense first.
Here's the kick five driving a Jones back into the end zone he'll come out well they'll stop him for the touchdown Stepped into the end zone Raiders will take it on offense from their 22 get us going here in the quarter semifinals the raiders perfect on the season at 13 oh second back to back undefeated season for coach Charles Flowers and the Raiders.
Take a look at opposing quarterback Blake Field for the series makers.
Look at those numbers on the season very impressive.
It's going to be interesting to see how they really start the game off because setting the tempo early is so.
Important over under center flags at the line of scrimmage.
Okay, that's not the way you want to really start the game, but it happens.
Get it out the system early and get ready to play football.
Is motion on the offense Ben Johnson moving just a tad soon.
The senior up front for the Raiders coach flowers at the sideline Good.
Ball procedure on the offense Still for sale.
So first and 15 for the Raiders from their own 15 Wilber under center with a high formation behind them on the ground they keep it straight ahead on the drive play up to the 20 perhaps the 21 yard line.
Derek Mobley on the carry for the Raiders.
He certainly it make it real to the ball and tell you right now.
Take a look at the starters for the Raiders will their quarterback and Lucas and Jenkins at the running back tough duo Bergeron at the wideout up front Smith Hill Underwood Johnson Washington and Floyd.
The Raiders come in with a very large offensive line.
Second down play for the Raiders misdirection.
They go right side with the football.
Lucas on the carry the junior may have gotten two, but that is about it.
Stop was made by Jerome Queen for the Sirup Makers offensive set for Crowe, Brown, Copeland, Jones and Mobley up front Linebackers and the backfield Anderson Clean Bolden, Williams, Guy Henderson and Davis linebackers and defensive backs for the field makers.
The third down play for the Raiders shut.
Down by will but fires in the box BROWN And after that Spurs are out after 30 flags coming in after.
The reception.
I think we have a facemask here.
WILLIAMS On the initial stop for the serve makers, let's check out the flags.
So get it back to the crew offensive line.
I look at these guys and they average about 6 to 8.
It weighs about £270 on the average.
They're very physical offensive lines, a good talent to see Canada.
The defense will hold up.
The assessment just going against a series of makers.
It was a. Facemask, personal, foul, 15 yards, facemask or sound.
WILLIAMS With the facemask after the tackle on Bergeron.
BERGERON One of the favorite targets of quarterback roll.
Anthony Wilber, 19, grabs on the regular season for Bergeron first and ten for the Raiders at their own 45 yard line.
Gilbert with the ice and Ben Jones in motion right on the down Come back with a full back finish carried by Sterling Jenkins.
Jenkins At the 45 stop made by Larry Brown.
But that's after almost a first down run by Jenkins.
Depending on the mark.
Brady is off to a great start.
They present the ball up and down the field like you want to.
It makes it an upward running pass.
And you can see right now, do hold it there.
Jenkins on the leading running backs for the Raiders big carry on that play.
Second and about a half to go for the first go on the ground.
Jenkins once again, flag tossed in as well.
Footballs loose down on the surface as well.
Lots to figure out on this play.
Jesse Glasgow, a lot going on right now.
You know, that being a three or four flags already.
But that's you know, guys are pretty hyped right now.
You know, emotions will settle down a few minutes to get the butterflies to come down.
They can start by playing every football.
Segment going against, right.
The Raiders assure high school coach Flowers not too happy about that, Sean.
His ninth year at shore high school of Flowers.
That is in his ninth year at your high school.
Yeah.
Great job.
On the offense not repeat second down.
So after the assessment second and nine Gilder misdirection on the inside and ahead on the carry that's Lucas a stop made once again by Larry Brown.
Not a whole lot of room in there for Lucas to maneuver inside.
Lucas has put up great numbers this year.
You know, you combine both backs.
They have 15 total, 300 yards rushing.
So they're they're a team that can really push it down.
But what hurt this team is starting long.
You know, they not for mostly running the football and this is definitely a pass down.
So it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.
The precise situation you're talking about third and seven for the Raiders II formation behind.
Over comes once going up top down and out there near the throw almost caught at the 22.
Intended for Bergeron and he had a look at it Jessie just couldn't pull it in.
That's great play I mean the ball was there.
He reached out for it.
Unfortunately, he couldn't pull it in.
But when you look at the timing of the play, I thought we did an excellent job putting the ball out there.
And you can see right here, right off the fingertips.
Or Jaren laid out, but he comes up short.
Ricky Davis on the coverage for the Sea of Makers.
So the Raiders will have to put it away Spencer back to do that for the Raiders.
I just need to hear the ten.
I pick five.
Spencer Angles now near the 17 yard line.
So Spencer continues to do a fine job of putting for the Raiders.
Their makers will have it starting this drive from their own 17.
It's going to be interesting to see how two freshman quarterback hold up, how you feel under pressure by this team here.
Believe me, they no stranger to the semifinals because they've been here for the last three consecutive years and they know what it takes to win.
Blake Field, the quarterback for the Sierra makers, as you indicate, just a freshman, put up some nice numbers for the self makers on the season.
Take a look at the starting lineup for Cairo.
It's Fields, Mobley, James Singletary and Butler.
That's the backfield for Cairo.
A slot left will be the initial set.
No score here in this first period.
Right field.
So he's a man in motion that gives it on the inside.
Straight ahead on the carry, Corey Jackson on the stop for the Raiders.
So make is got to keep their eyes on Torrey protect this kid can really get to the ball I think he's elite it is a leading tackler this year he's been doing an excellent job about filling the gaps.
Second down pick up of two on the previous play.
Roger James on the previous.
Gary Fields under center split back on information this trip for these filmmakers.
Now on the ground they keep it high state that they need a 21 yard.
Line James on the carry Brandon Whaley with the hit Take a look at the defense up front for Shaw, Bradley Robbins, Murphy Williams and Kempsey.
A front line for the Raiders linebackers Jackson Whaley, McFadden, Daniel Baker and Vickers.
The secondary big down for this.
They're making 30 long time the defensive player 331 they get put at 18 so you know the ball got to come out.
So we'll see what happens here.
Third and six for self make.
Us feel that this is set to snap out the flaps down and pass complete after James Brady turns the corner.
Whaley on the stop and he close to that market Jessie you want to check it out.
To start right at that marker it definitely got the measure just for a matter of fact, they came up short.
So I see the punting going up.
The half yards shy of the first down.
So if the sirup makers do in fact punt raiders would go back on offense.
Later standard here, the 35 Frazier kick it up front if.
You're able to get it off.
And as with the catch, they go on the reverse.
Now coming back to the left side, carried by McFadden.
McFadden near midfield.
Relative football doesn't go to many people.
Take a look at the replay on the exchange with the punt on the reverse.
Daniel to McFadden.
No, the sir was very disappointed that time.
You know, the punt unit stayed in their lanes lane to get down there and they made the play.
So the Raiders will come up with decent field position to start this drive.
Second of this first period over with the guy behind him inside to keep it up.
Brown Jacobs near midfield end to serve Baker territory at the 49.
Man I love this make a defense man they rally to the football you know all year long they have put up great numbers defensively I think poor led the one quite a and all defensive stats and they're going to show today you know what they can do.
Jenkins got about four on the carry for the Raiders Jenkins finished a regular season just shy or had finished his career Mark just shy of 3000 yards Well he's turned out it turned out some yardage for the Raiders as they face second and six on the ground.
They that second.
Bang at the line of scrimmage they cleaned team up that time lead a hit.
That's what you want to do you want to put to him right there with the ball and this kid came up and put a hit on it.
You can take it out right here in slow motion.
Easy to see the linebacker scrapes boom right there to finish that play off.
And he just go ahead and wrap up.
Other than that, he did actually get to the ball.
Kind of thing.
You go back to the huddle with a high five on the set, everybody up and they third and four after the mark on Lewis on the previous play on the ground they come again Jenkins banging it ahead and here the first down marker for the Raiders Raiders we thought would be on the ground.
And they've shown it thus far.
And no doubt about it, guys, no way got them here.
It's their bread and butter.
That's what they're going to do today.
They're going to get great back seat to push the ball downfield.
So it's no surprise to the Lakers that they don't run the football.
Jenkins scrambles for the first on that run scrimmage.
Now, as I see it, make a 43 Wilber on the ground.
This time it's Lucas inside of the 40 stop made by Michael Anderson, the senior for the snap makers.
So approaching that five minute mark in his first period, Jesse Raiders mounting a sustained drive.
They've put a couple on itself already.
You know what?
They've been very impressive so far is down with the game plan.
They came in here, they're very patient.
And and right now to their advantage, they really believe that moving the football.
Fast time for the Raiders in the semifinals going well thus far.
Grover with a yard behind them on the ground they go That's Lucas Whiteside now blocks.
Walks off toward the corner as Brown converges for the series makers on the stop.
You see the Raiders right out of Columbus, Georgia.
I think that the first teammates in my analysis on Kendricks.
They show up.
So they're pretty excited about it.
They know it's a good opportunity to be here and try to make history.
As far as winning the game tonight.
A third and three for the Columbus School information behind it all, but will keep it himself.
For the folks looking ahead to even more near the 30 yard line, that.
Second effort by the quarterback.
Over oh very vocal guy as we look at Gilbreath another running back because he can get on the corner push it up the middle he's a playmaker he create he create things and right now you can see right there he publicly sees the gap just getting up for the first time.
Bogan and Williams combine on the tackle of Wilber.
But after the first down pick up by the junior quarterback Raiders from the 31 of their faces first and ten, Wilber fakes it in the.
Line looking to pass Got to go wire got it in near the 21 yard line that he catch it indeed he did it you.
Run the football good play excellent and set it up.
That's a great play.
Action to set that play up take see right here play action freezes the linebackers he roll out and then he got his guy right here Great play.
Fine job by the tight end Terrence Floyd the senior Davis and Henderson combining on a stop but a nine and a half yard pickup on the pass to Floyd.
That's a movement up front by Floyd.
So Floyd gave them nine and a half on the catch and he's got to take back five on the emotion.
Think he was good excited about the catch so we're given that way.
Floyd had only four receptions on the regular season, an indication of how much this team really, truly runs the football.
He made a big catch the early a lot of the move the chains.
On his team they live with their bread and butter like I said earlier they run the ball by play action.
We'll set it up set the short passes up to the tight end but the linebackers battle.
Procedure on the offense well suck it out.
And linebackers coming right up ready for the run and they're there at the tight end right.
Behind it.
So Floyd on tap to have a big day if the Raiders can continue with their ground game second and six for the Raiders after zero Baker 27 Keep it on the ground.
JENKINS Left side stands it back to the inside.
Down near the 22.
Anderson He's on the stop of Jenkins.
JENKINS Just so explosive off the block.
And Jenkins is type of back.
He really can get good body lean you hardly ever see him get hit he's not back.
He comes to the line with his shoulders down.
Third down and one for the Raiders.
In the lane.
That's Jenkins inside of a 20.
That's enough for the leader.
First down and the Raiders just continue the pounding on the inside.
As they're making the defense need to step up.
They have to play good defense.
And this is the time to really show where they're getting the play 20 territory.
And right now, as a defensive player, you know, you look at the teammates and you say, hey, it's time to make a play for the interest to see what happens here.
First and ten for.
The Raiders previous stop me by Antonio hold for the of makers on the ground coming this way really focused and they did.
Exactly what you talked about.
Jesse four or five of them had you know was that ball's out defense right game and have the ball they turned it over they said it was a fumble.
Derrick Mobley, the senior, came away with a fumble for the sirup maker, stripped it out of there.
Oh, what a great play right here.
That's what you need.
A big play inside to close 20.
There it is right there.
The ball comes out the great play by Mobley and tell you that's a sign of a great defense.
No question about it.
Football was at least a game tackled and it must have hurt you up here at USC.
Good job by the serve maker defense.
Hey, great job.
They lived up to their reputation.
So a minute 53 left in this first period here makers hold.
The raiders get it on the turnover field.
I'm just saying.
Oh, Duncan threw it in it almost had it intercepted it.
The Raiders got a man wide open their Harris Baker, the senior, probably couldn't believe his eyes.
Neither could I. Blake threw it right to him.
That's a that's that's interesting.
That's a great play and a mistake by a freshman quarterback to avoid the sack.
But at the same time, he lead the ball right there, you know, for the defensive player to make a play on it.
He was trying to get it to Singletary out in the flat, but Baker was right there.
Could have had an easy six for the Raiders.
Take one of these going boy that was close very second and ten yeah short drop five from the fact just emphatic at the line of scrimmage Corey Jackson in a possible interception there.
Casey hit it at the line of scrimmage.
You know we talked a lot we talked a lot by about the make his defense but you see right now the raiders defense he really stepping up you know almost a minute ago he could have had an interception and now the batted ball so they're ready to play awesome.
Hensley got a hand up there at the line.
Of scrimmage to knock it down, went right over to Jackson.
He just put his square, put it in the third and ten for the sake of Michael Brown back on.
The field.
Looking to his left fires through a high pass goes incomplete.
Intended for Cedric DuPont's field missed his mark.
It's good impressive.
Well you know he's a freshman you know he just got to relax a little bit and settle down and he could get his game together because this team won a pass the football and they got a young guy that year.
He got the job done.
Sirup makers will kick it away.
Raiders getting set to go back on offense.
The team looks to kick it by the Raiders with Brooks with a fine kick by Daniel back to the 36 right side down or the kick step near.
Midfield.
Nice return to Daniel about for the Raiders Jonathan.
He on the staff for the zero makers.
Ali The flag was thrown there at midfield.
Jesse Let's check it out as Charles Flowers at the sideline.
Ninth year at Shaw High School, graduate of Fort Valley State University, looks like the assessment will go against the Raiders.
So nullify that nice run or turn by name and Dan.
After the change of possession clip on the returning game 15 yards first down.
How big of a factor is that Jesse For the offense to come out knowing you got good possession and you see the flag down there and you're not actually starting where you thought you were.
You know what?
It's tough on offense.
So, you know, that's why it's such a team sport.
The especially team got to play well and the defense played well and definitely the offense got to play well.
So you don't want to start with a with a penalty.
First and ten from their own 35.
Wilbon keeps it on the inside leave it was Jenkins on the carry indeed it was.
There was nothing there at all.
I think the D teams did a great job.
Certainly get down.
Mobley and Brown combining on the stop of Jenkins, Jenkins may have gotten a yard at second and nine, the clock continuing to run here in this quarter.
A semifinal ballgame.
Wilbur brings a man in motion, left side, short drop out in a flat court, half a line of scrimmage by Bergeron.
But not a whole lot that's in there.
You got a defense who really rallied to the football with the ball is in here was the defensive player run we all try to get the it you see right here as soon as the ball is thrown out there it is the defense, the hustle to the ball.
That's how you create plays.
That's how you make big plays.
For Ricky Davis to sophomore on the stop for the series Makers so that'll bring up third.
Down and nine no gain on the reception Lonzo Ball transfers in on the 15 seconds left in the first and in motion That's my fact pump once sacked for over they were trying to set it up downfield but Michael.
Anderson got the pursuit and the sack on Anthony Wilbon.
What a great play.
Right here goes.
Right past the guard.
Take it up out to the end of the break.
No score at the end of one.
It's the rate in the Raiders and the snap makers.
Back with the second half of this.
This is g. BTV, your PBS station serving Atlanta and all of Georgia GPD TV bringing you the best.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV.
And welcome back, everybody.
We start the second period with a punt.
Chad Spencer set to kick it away for the Raiders.
He and Davis back deep for the Sara Makers.
No score after one.
Charles Ward and Jessie the Hammer tumble with the play call on this quarter semifinal football game.
Spencer with the kick.
Medium tackle there by the Raiders.
Catch is made by the stop was made by Anthony Merritt a toss it over to Jim Janaki and coach Sam bars.
Hi Charles thanks a lot coach what do you see so far right.
Now say shows offensive line blocking Cairo's defensive line and that's the big part of the game they've get they generate some offense right now when Kyrie was struggling.
Right.
Okay.
There's the coach's comments.
Charles, back to you.
By the jam set up makers, back on to the offense.
They'll start this drive from their own three.
They really need to get something going this quarter.
Yeah, they didn't do very much at all in the first quarter and not quite sure they well aware of that.
Being a man in motion field under center this trip and the line is played ahead but they meet a wall of raiders at the line of scrimmage.
Bradley led the charge for the Raiders on the stop and actually lost about a half on the play this year.
Pakistan is a king brooks on the carry for the safer packers second and 11.
All right it serves split receivers either side.
Blood pressure dunks it out in the flat pass incomplete near the 36 flag coming in though and tenet for Tony Green.
The junior.
I think bigger might have got there early that time.
For the offensive shove looks like it.
Needed it was.
Whaley was covering.
Although Kimbrel had a rough start in the first quarter they weren't the pass the ball you see right now they're going to stay with the game plan is going to try to come out of the passing offense on the White first down so that you know the coach hasn't given up on the young quarterback.
They believe he can get the job done and eventually get into a groove and get it get it done.
That's a look at the pass interference on the replay there.
Devon and Shove is a timeout taken on the field by the Raiders and coach Charles Flowers, a pass route for green on the defensive push that was a confidence builder for feel the quarterback.
Although Green didn't catch it they got the benefit of the penalty.
Flowers taking an opportunity to talk to the officials.
Wants a timeout.
Set up makers at 12 and one Raiders at 1315 oh only one gets to advance.
Only one so it makers come off of an impressive win last week by beat mirrors.
And I'll tell you.
What the winner.
Plays either Creekside or Statesboro High School.
That ballgame tomorrow right here at the Georgia Dome at 6 p.m.. What are you doing tomorrow night?
Six right here again watching Georgia football.
Because that should be a fine ballgame there.
But we've got a good one going here.
No score in the second period, first and ten for the serve makers throwing 47.
On the ground and keep it step into the corner.
Nice run at the corner by Akeem Brooks Brooks inside of.
Raider territory Whaley on the stop Brooks Brooks with about a seven yard carry before the stop.
Go Brooke Shields.
Great business on that play.
There was nothing on the inside.
He bounced it, take it outside to pick up about seven yards.
Six.
Wow.
Ross Brooks.
Just over 700 yards on the ground during the regular season for the cigaret makers he gave him six on that carry Jesse so make it second down and four field shell shotgun just after the freshman and the flag dumps the pass goes into the plate intended for hardy circling out of the.
Backfield and these kids do it passes those passes right there what they do is build a confidence of the quarterback.
And right now, you know, the freshmen need to complete those great pass the guys.
And we keep our eyes on the football and make the kids.
Coverage provided by Brandon Whaley for the Raiders.
That was just simply a drop by Hardy.
Now the big third down here for this here, Baker's.
Third and four double slots for the freshman quarterback here in the pocket.
Flag football, incomplete at the 38 intended for Cedric.
DuPont's DuPont dropped it The officials drop the flag at midfield.
And another great pass by field the ball is right there as you can see on the replay here.
It just happens.
It's go right through his fingertips.
Those type of play, you guessed it plays against it a little more focus on and I'm quite sure Duke is no old right now.
Blake Field, the son of a head coach, Warren Field, will find a pass there, a duke, and then help him out on it.
We'll see if the assessment does.
Illegal formation on the offense certainly is declined.
So the assessment doesn't help us make our effort either.
They'll have to put it away fourth and four, McFadden and Daniels backpedal.
They'll be deep to receive the kick.
Take a look at Coach Warren Field knows he's engaged in a good one BROOKS to kick it for the sake of makers flags coming in before Brooks can get it away.
Looks like a little delay a game here, Jessie against these they're makers.
They got to manage the clock for the better.
I think this is like the call to delay.
So they'll back him up five.
Good ball delay on the offense Philly is declined so fourth down.
It could have been an intentional delay.
Well, the Raiders didn't buy it on it.
They didn't take the penalty.
Trying to set up a better field position as far as putting the ball inside the ten yard line.
Brooks to kick it.
Nice kick by BROOKS.
By great big.
And a bounce near the inside of the five Excellent point make us doubt exactly what they wanted Anderson on the coverage for the start of nice was they down it at.
The four Jim Janaki all standing by.
I thank you Charles earlier today the single-A semifinal Buford taking on McIntosh.
Joey McDonald had a great game for the Wolves he scored three touchdowns here's one of them right here as the wolves advance to the championship, they'll take on the winner of Commerce or Lincoln County next weekend.
Back to Charleston, Jesse.
Thank you, Jim.
Congratulations to Coach Dexter Wood.
Fine man, good football coach Raiders.
Keep it on the ground.
Jenkins spinning left side, working his way near the seven yard line.
Sterling Jenkins starting to get his after burst going for the Raiders.
Last couple of possessions has started to accumulate some yards as Queen makes two stops.
And the tickets continue to pound the ball inside.
He pounded and eventually know something will happen.
You know, you never can tell when they're big plays come in.
They just got to continue to pound the ball inside.
Silence and you can get that break.
Jenkins got three on that play under 10 minutes left in this first half.
Still no score between Sean Carroll, Wilber and the second man.
That's Jacobs.
They come right side.
The attack pushes near the ten.
So you want another three yard pick up by Jenkins Queen and Brown converge on the stop this is makers tunnel make it third and four for the raiders nice punt by Brooks and of way down in their own territory trying to work it out of there They'll need to get this first down.
On this third down effort if they have to do that misdirection.
Coming back.
Left side turned upside down on the carry.
Mike Jones and short of the first Michael Anderson and Mike Jones, somebody got underneath and flipped him over and Jones is down on the replay.
You see they coming back left side and down low.
Anderson flipped him a defensive play.
As you can see right now, this key road defense is very stingy.
They don't give him much up on the ground.
They don't get food a lot.
So it right there to make the play.
Jones, the senior for the Raiders, 47 six catches on the regular season.
John Nelson standing by sideline John.
Three guys did a couple of things here.
The defensive coaches for Carroll are telling the defense that they're the ones that have to create field position for the offense, evidenced by that last point, they're off to a good start.
Note number two, Cairo's kicker, Jake Bone Drake is injured Wednesday in practice.
He sprained an ankle, 13 to 21 on the year and his longest is 46 yards.
It swelled up again in warmups.
So they don't know if he can go and if he can go, it's going to be on a situational basis.
So in a game of field position, it could come down to field goals.
Jake Binder Extra question mark right now.
That's a tough loss.
Thanks, John.
Indeed, that is a system so close you get the feeling that.
Every point is important and it may, in fact come down to what happens with the feet as Jones makes it up and trots off the carpet here in the Georgia Dome, just as you played on both artificial and grass.
Your preference?
I prefer grass, without a doubt.
No artificial turf.
You're faster, you're quicker.
But for the joints, believe me, I think most players prefer the grass.
Spencer to kick it away for the Raiders.
He and Davis back deep for the serve makers.
Lost it in the end zone just to be able to find it He'll kick it out of the back it'll.
Be a safety for this year of makers.
So like you said earlier, in every point in this game, there was two points.
But it was a smart move to kick the ball at the back of the end zone to to stop the touchdown.
Spencer just missed it on the exchange went right through his hands.
And he kicks it out of bounds so the.
First score of the ballgame comes in an interesting way.
It's a safety for this year of makers.
You don't have to give any points up, but you have to be smart about it.
And I think, you know, he did a great job as far as kicking the ball out and not causing a big major problem, not picking the ball up, fumbling and obviously giving up a two.
So Crowe goes up first.
They laid it to nothing.
They have the football as well.
Another Cairo faithfuls here at the Georgia Dome.
Davis and Guy will be back deep for the series.
Makers and we're talking about special teams in the pre game show and there they show up for the series makers to put them on the scoreboard.
As crucial.
You know a lot of people seem to underestimate the importance of special teams, but if especially team don't play well and don't go out and perform, you can see what could happen.
Spencer will kick it away for the Raiders.
Not another time.
I'll take it on the field.
Looks like Coach Flowers and the Raiders took it.
Opportunity for us to send it back over to Jim Tanaka and Coach Sandbars.
I thank you, Charles.
I tell you, it's been a great day.
We had the single-A semifinal highlight earlier, the Double-A game top Charlton County 2214 for NGAKOUE.
Smith scored a touchdown.
So did Joe Bruce.
America's advance to the championship game to take on the winner of tomorrow's Cook or Washington Wilkes game.
All right.
Should be a good one next weekend.
And tomorrow's game between Cook and Washington, Wilkes should be the same.
All right.
Let's go back to Charles and Jesse.
Thanks, Jim.
Fine call on that ballgame as well.
Jim Tanaka with a play call from that one.
America's looking good should be a good ball game as they continue advance in the playoffs.
Time out was taken by the Raiders.
They are getting set to kick it away for the series.
Makers GHI and were deep they head back to their positions.
Spencer Ralph Hunter line.
Drive by Spencer.
Run back here by Davis Mills at the throw at the 40 hang hard here the 45 keeps his feet moving Got it.
Up to the 46.
It's a good return.
I mean, you could see what he had to do, see the Gap ticket and get out the yards and need it.
And Terry has Williams in on a stomp for the Raiders but another set of good skill position here for this area.
Lakers you see Williams in there on.
Their stop start for the Raiders.
It is a nice return Davis first and ten saves makers at their own 46 Beal misdirection back to nobody fooled on the play Raiders had the penetration The stop was made near the 40 yard line and Williams once again and a nice stop for the Raiders.
Hey penetration kills any offensive play you see right here Weaver steps up comes right through the line and nails guy in the backfield didn't have a chance.
Came Brooks on the carry for the Raider for the self makers.
He lost.
Five on it.
Second and 14.
Now for the center makers, shotgun is a set for field high snapping handles those on the ground and ten straight ahead with the carry Darrell Hardy 4 to 0 makers got it back near the initial line of scrimmage Corey Jackson the junior and on the hit for the Raiders.
Very active linebacker the defensive leader and the tackles he's a guy you want to make a play.
He's got a guy who could come up with it.
76 tackles on the year for sacks.
A pretty impressive.
Third and 11 after Jackson's tackle.
He'll understand then the drop fires out in a flap.
That's the last ten feet.
Marcus Butler ran on a.
Grab for the sirup makers.
MCFADDEN With the coverage short of the first down marker, take a look at the camera work here coming right at you.
That grab by butler shy of the first fourth down and three for the seraph makers and a senior on the catch for the here make us down close to the first down got another timeout taken once again by coach the Raiders and coach Charles Flowers.
Certainly doesn't make his look.
See if we can peer now that he's hot.
He's good morning staff the bathroom will reverse stay in it stay in if they even if they faking to.
Sit one over on your side body fully coach.
Field wanting them to be a little bit heads high above any kind of trickery by the Raiders they try to reverse before.
And right in big games like this you can't put anything past any team we tried it before it down in the territory it now we could possibly see it again.
Brooks will kick it.
Daniels back deep for the Raiders, kicked by Brooks on the court and corn on the previous kick.
This is going to be filled in by McFadden Sadie up near the 20 top made by Cedric DuPont for the Sirup Makers.
So the Raiders back on offense now.
I'll tell you why.
It's been a defensive ball game up to this point.
We haven't seen any scores at all.
And so for the safety but believe me, you know, defense wins football games.
And I'll tell you right now, you know, something's got to be very pleased defensively what they have done up to this point.
Wilbur with an eye information behind him.
First and ten for the Raiders on the.
Ground give it's going to head Jenkins Jenkins through the pack near the 30 yard line straight ahead running by Jenkins close to the first down marker.
The raiders to take that any time no dings they've been pounding in for one or two yards.
And you can see right here, they find a little crease they've been looking for early in the game and pulls out almost nine yards close to the first.
Derek Mobley on the stop for the Sirup Makers, that's a nine and a half yard pick up by Jenkins on the play to Jenkins in the regular season, averaging over five yards per carry for the Raiders, not more than five on that play on the ground again they come Jenkins that's a first down on the way to spins in the secondary near the 45 yard line Williams on their stop for the series makers but if you take your eye out for Jenkins for just a second he makes you pay for.
It, without a doubt.
If you look right here, look at the offensive line, that's how you get the gas.
You got to trust the guys running behind.
And believe me, they fired off the ball that time.
You know, with Tommy Smith leading the way.
But he got a good push and created the hole for Jenkins to run through and look at his performance thus far.
Sterling Jenkins for the Raiders first and ten from the 43.
Lucas falls ahead for the Raiders got it past a 45 Anderson the senior on a stop for the self makers in this pick up a three on the play by Lamar Lucas team Lucas also averaging over five yards per carry in the regular season for the Raiders they have a good 1400 yards career is without a.
Doubt they have a good set of backs.
You know, Lucas and Jenkins, they can mix it up at any time.
There comes the option right side.
Rollback court and great play at the corner Brown.
And Bogdan converge there a coming short side with the option not many options available to Williams Wilbur coming out the corner you see on the replay they covered it well they had the pitch man covered and they converged on the QB.
Assuming that he has seen that play before on tape, he thought they played it perfect.
So they weren't asleep during the film session.
No sleeping third and six for the.
Raiders still make a showing blitz Jenkins right side fighting the ball lost the football at the 40 yard line.
Sirup makers have it Derek Mobley if he's got it that's his second.
And indeed he does his second fumble recovery of this first half, Mobley gives it back to.
The sirup makers.
The run to the football.
You never know who the big plays will happen.
You know, recovering fumbles is not an accident.
It's about being at the right place, the right time by hustling to the football.
Darrell Hardy got in there and stripped it out of there and Mobley was able to pick it up for the sirup makers.
They take it back on offense.
Dwight Sterling right here.
He's run the ball extremely hard.
JENKINS But a great play by a defensive player.
The ball comes out and there it is on the ground relative to football.
Great things.
And that's what happened.
So the sirup makers back.
On offense and back in business fields, fakes it in the line, pressure out in a flat pass and complete near the 43 yard.
Line intended for his favorite target, Marcus Singletary.
With the pass thrown just slightly high.
The freshman shows a lot of poise right here.
You notice the good money to about to come there he still hanging there hang in there and get the ball out.
It's a little high, but it's Bostic.
Singletary almost had a wish.
He had it back.
Probably nine out of ten.
He'll make that.
You make that catch.
Those incomplete them start at second.
And 1012 under center once again drive formation and the line of.
Scrimmage he gave it straight ahead on the carry for the series makers Roger James James back to the line of scrimmage and that was about in place so that will bring up a third for the cigaret makers now that their own 46 yard line quick moving first half here from the Georgia Dome.
Field takes on the line lucky pumps pulls it down nice play there a I love that it's Michael.
Robbins as you indicate, Jesse.
And on the sack.
You look at this kid, he's a little fireplug.
He's about five foot four or five foot five.
And he really can make things happen deep, deep inside.
You see here, be the guy, keep alive and get to the ball.
So they wrap up.
Feels for the sack and they wrap up that possession by the self makers.
They'll have to punt it away with a minute 45 and the clock running here in the first half.
Take a look at Ramon is on the season two tackles and five sacks.
Not a very big guy, but with big heart.
That's all it takes to play this game right here at all levels.
High school, college pros.
He got inside of you.
Hey, you got something special?
Daniels on McFadden Deep for the Raiders sideline getting kicked by Brooks for the sirup makers spins out of bounds near the 34 So a minute 21 left in this first half you see that man at the sidelines.
He would like to get something before they go into the break.
And that man, Anthony Wahlberg, responsible for making it happen.
He can do it.
He can do it through the air and with his legs because he can run the football.
First and ten for the Raiders and trail at two to nothing.
The quotes were over with an I formation behind them.
They keep it on the ground.
Lakers past a lot of scrimmage, stumbling and rumbling his way near that first down marker.
Ricky Davis, a sophomore in on the hit for the share of makers.
But I believe that's after Lucas his first down one oh he's about a year and a half shy offensive coordinator for the Raiders.
Just a bit concerned at this point as they keep it on the ground, Lucas.
Not enough for the rate of first pushing it near that Falcon emblem in the middle of the field.
They run the ball.
You know, there was no doubt in my mind in a way, that's why they're going to run the ball.
When they came to the Georgia Dome and, you know, with less than a minute to go in the game, they trying to score to keep the ball on the ground.
But believe me, this is the perfect time for a play action pass.
I wouldn't be surprised.
This one coming up shortly.
Mobley was on the stop for the serve makers.
Welcome.
And there you go, Jesse.
Nice call.
Wahlberg going to go up top go up high at the corner pass going to be intercepted good defensive work by Jonathan and he gets the pick for the series makers and we see the makers spoil.
The effort of the Raiders and Jesse Blake you call that perfectly you know.
And the facade out there running the ball twice, you definitely try to come up.
But Third Makers was really making an excellent play on the ball and that's what you're supposed to do as a defensive back.
Pass was intended for Joe's down field but well on the throne d with an easy time of it for the interception.
You take a look at the turnovers.
All of them belong to the Raiders at this point.
Three in this first.
Half on the ground, straight ahead with the carry for the Raiders.
And that's Hardy.
Hardy got a pass to 35.
Expert there by Darrell Hardy and they moved the chains.
And raiders defense really guys step up now dolphins have been pushing the ball up and down the field, but they've been stalemated that time.
And you see, as you can see, the turnovers have killed them in the first half, but they've got to go in there feeling that they can move the ball against just this key role.
So make a team and just look at the positive and try to forget about some of the negatives going into the half.
Field under Center 47 movement on the ground in the hole and bounce right back out of there stop is made by Kinsey.
For the Raiders and that'll bring us to the end of the first half looks like two nothing leaves Buffalo, although the Raiders have shot not a whole lot of.
Scoring in this first half.
And our John Nielsen standing by John.
Yeah here with coach Warren field two Carol does was a walker this did you expect a staring contest like this.
No, it's not a staring contest.
I figured it'd be a bloodletting like this because you've got two great defenses on the field and they're coming after us hard and we got to find a way to win something on the line of scrimmage.
And you're making the defense create field position for the offense instead of offense for defense.
Well, we're going to we're going to try to maintain that all the time.
You know, that's not our plan.
But we're going to try to get some start in the second half so we can get move the ball a little bit better.
That's my next question.
What are you looking to change, if anything?
Well, we just got to get what we're doing better up on the line of scrimmage.
You know, they're whipping on behinds and we got it.
We've got to stop that.
So you're getting you're getting the penetration.
You're happy with that so far?
Well, I'm not happy with a lot of things.
Just two to nothing.
You know, we're up sound like a baseball game.
But I'm an animal tribe, so we get a motivated we win the second half.
All right, Coach Field, I appreciate it.
Game more sat in the game more suited for Turner Field for Major soccer something like that to nothing at the half.
Warren Field says he's got some stuff to do.
Let's send it upstairs.
Thank you, John.
Indicate to nothing lead for the Packers over the Raiders of Shaw High School.
We'll step aside for the halftime show.
Back with more.
This is g. BTV, your pbs station serving Atlanta and all of Georgia GPD TV bringing you the best.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV.
Not a touchdown, not a field goal, but a safety is the difference in this one.
Carroll has the lead at the half to nothing over.
SHAW And welcome back to the Georgia Dome, Jim.
John Carroll, along with the Dublin head football coach Sam Buys.
Coach, your comments on the first half.
Where we've got two good defenses going in, each one of them giving up 6.5 points and 5.5 points.
The only play in a bowl game, Jim, has been the snap over the past year.
So the key, of course, you know, you got you have a special teams there.
What are the coaches quickly talking about in the locker rooms now?
They're looking for a way to generate anything they can offense.
Neither one of them are doing anything on offense.
And and what they're telling your team right now to do is protect the football.
Don't lay it on the ground.
Let's not make a mistake.
All right.
So it's Sean Carroll to nothing at the half.
Let's go downstairs and listen to the sights and sounds of the Shaw Marching Band.
And I think you see they are so little.
Dr. Oliver Boone over going to ask you, you're just one of the busiest guys out here.
The instructions the whole way through.
What's it like for you putting a routine together like that?
Well, it's a lot of excitement.
I've been doing this 22 years and you never grow old doing this kind of stuff.
It keeps you busy.
What's it like playing in a place like the Georgia Dome?
This is a dream come true for our kids.
And and a first time for me as well.
Never played in an don't like this.
So it's a it's a nice experience.
Okay it to the other experiences you've had where else have you played that would be of this kind of a magnitude?
Well, when I was in college, we played for the Dolphins at in Miami and that would be the closest thing.
But than that this is this is the highlight of my high school career.
Now, let me ask you, what kind of work is involved each week in putting together routine?
Because I notice little Ides of March in there.
You know, I like I like that kind of 60.
And what's what does it take to get the sound right?
Well, we have to start with a two week band camp, and we have to teach the music and get everything adjusted there and then start learning the routines.
And it's a slow process.
And, you know, hopefully after about two weeks, you're ready to put together about a 5 to 7 minute show.
It takes a good month, month and a half to get 10 minutes of a preparation ready on the field.
All right.
Well, way to play it out here.
It was really nice on a doctor.
I would have been to the sounds of summer.
We're done with Cairo.
We're done with shore arrows heading up.
Let's go upstairs.
The gym.
All right.
Thanks, John.
It's halftime.
Festivities have come to an end.
The second half kickoff coming up.
Cairo leads it offshore to nothing.
This is to TV, your PBS State serving Atlanta and all of Georgia.
DTV bringing you the best.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV.
And welcome back.
To the Georgia Dome.
Let's listen to the Sirup Maker Band.
He was the.
Sirup Maker Band and band director Johnny Folsom.
It looks like these guys are really having fun here.
It's ragtime, at least for my untrained ear.
It's ragtime.
And it's not something that you would normally associate with, you know, kids.
15, 16, 17.
Having a fun time doing.
Yeah, they have a fun time with this show.
They really do.
Putting himself into it.
I think you could see that they have a fun time playing it.
They have a fun time showing off with it, and we hope the crowd enjoys it.
They seem to be.
Well, let me ask you one thing I like is horns.
I like horns like percussion.
Gee, I like noise.
There's a surprise to you.
I know.
What does it take to orchestrate something this size, to sound this full?
A place like this?
It takes a lot of work and these folks are putting a lot of hours.
In addition to that, we've just played a Christmas concert Monday night, a Christmas parade last night.
In addition to this show that we've been doing all year long.
So there's a lot of work been going into this band all year.
Okay.
How much work?
I'm going to go ahead, man.
Oh, gosh.
Hours and hours.
I would have to sit down and figure it out.
I have no idea.
So there's no such thing as an average day where you're concerned?
Well, it's an average day, but it's more than an average day.
These guys work very, very hard every day.
Let me ask you, what does it mean to the entire town of Cairo to have the supports you guys have, not just for the football team, but for the band as well enough in a setting like this.
Cairo loves their band.
Cairo loves their football team.
There's no place like Cairo, I'll tell you.
Now, let me ask you, what would make the perfect routine in your own mind is something that you've never tried, that you've always wanted to do, that you've never had the gumption to try?
I have no idea.
We we tried different things each year.
Some things work, some things now, I don't know.
The reason I ask is because we've heard everything from Jimmy Buffet to Ides of March to Ragtime today.
So it's always been full.
And that's why I want to ask that question is there's like a secret pipe dream that you guys have.
We're just trying to have fun.
All right, well, I appreciate your time, sir.
Make our band wrapping up.
Let's send it back upstairs to Jim.
All right.
Thanks, John.
Two great bands.
Two great teams and two points.
The difference Cairo lead Shaw at halftime to nothing.
We'll be back to the dome in just a moment.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV and State.
And welcome back to the Georgia Dome halftime Carroll leads it to nothing over shore coach what to expect quickly in the second half.
Well I just think somebody has got to make a play.
If either team's going to win this football game, they're going to have to make one play in the second half.
All right.
We have the halftime stats for you coming up here on Sean Carroll and there they are.
So you look at the first downs, Jim, they don't don't have any yards passing rushing yards.
Now, Shaw has moved the ball a little bit and it leans toward them.
But look at their total yardage, 123 to 21.
That's awful.
And three turnovers for Shaw.
That's pretty big right there.
If they can eliminate those turnovers in the second half, they got a chance to win the football game based on stats.
All right, let's buckle up.
Let's get ready for the second half kickoff.
Let's send it over to Charles Ward and Jesse Tuggle.
Thank you, Jim.
And Coach VARs.
We took a look at those first half stats.
Jesse certainly not impressive on either side of the football, but as Coach Bars indicates that the Raiders with a chance to to add to their stats minimize those turnovers in the second half of football.
You know what?
They've been a great defensive game overall, but the Raiders have moved the ball, they have moved the ball up and down the field, but they still made it a lot and the turnovers had really killed them.
You know, Cairo defense that lived up to his name.
It's a very powerful, aggressive defense to relative to football.
But the offense has got to get going.
You know, with total yards as low as you seen before the Cairo offense.
Got to get the ball moving.
I think the young quarterback, Blake, he got to sit in there and and get his guys motivated, get these guys going.
How important will it be for the sirup makers?
You hear this all the time in football circles.
And I know even on your level you hear this coming out of the intermission, the sirup makers will have the football first.
How important will it be for them to at least have a sustained drive coming out of the break?
You know.
You got to come out the second half and set the tempo.
You know, you got to do it right now because you're in a in a market where you feel like, okay, guys, you know, we can move this football.
We believe in ourselves and we know we can do it.
We did all year long and then it's time to go out and perform.
There's not a whole lot we can show you in terms of highlight so that first half.
But we do have record at that safety the only measure of scores that we have thus far in this first half between the Raiders and the serve makers, there you see Spencer just simply taking his eyes off of it and doing the next best thing.
Just kicking it out of the back of the end zone.
You're right.
You'll have to give anyone points.
But that time with a very smart player.
There you see the big sack on young Blake Fields, as you indicated by Ricky.
As we get set to start the second half, hopefully we'll have more highlights for this one than we did in the first that Spencer kicks it away.
Line drive kick by Spencer.
Nice job kicked it hard and deep so the sera makers will start it from their own 20.
They get us going in the second half.
Their offense got to get going and without a doubt, I'm quite sure the coach made it clear, guys, you can move the football.
You did all year long.
You want to keep encouraging the players that they can do it and eventually they get their groove and go out there and push the ball downfield.
The comments of Coach Field headed into the locker room really indicates exactly what you're talking about.
We'll see if they can get it going here as the younger field Blake Field at quarterback for the step makers under center first and ten for the Sarah Baker's keep it on the ground straight ahead with a carry for the self makers Roger James.
James What about a yard pickup for the sirup makers?
WHALEY And on the stop for the Raiders, just on the way here in the third period from the Georgia Dome, the winner advances against either Creekside or Statesboro.
All those teams battling here tomorrow at 6 p.m. field will split receivers either side a short drop across the middle pass goes incomplete intended on the crossing route for Marcus Butler.
And those type of plays there you want to convert you know something early something quick and try to make a play.
You know, like I said, early is, you know, set the tempo of the hole for their offense.
But when you come out with incomplete pass and facing third and long again it is crucial for Carroll to convert right now.
Third down and eight for the Sarah makers raiders.
Some confusion on the front offensive line.
Snap plays straight ahead.
Spinning and turning.
Regaining of balance, but still for no gain was David Hardy for the Sierra.
They went conservative on that third down play.
Jesse sort of surprises me a little bit, you know, yet at the other point in the game where you thought for sure you would try to come out and do something a little different, but obviously they feel they still have a lot of time left in this game, no immediate rush and they feel good about what they doing.
So it'd be interesting to see what happens.
DANIELS McFadden Deep to receive a kick by Brooks Raiders with three turnovers in that first half getting set to go back on offense.
Brooks with the kick high and short filled it by McFadden Short side of the field out cut down near the 43 yard line stop made by Cedric DuPont.
As the Raiders come on to the field, just like some of the earlier action here from the Georgia Dome in the class a semifinals, it was Buford, 26 to 6 over McIntosh County coach Dexter Wood with the win and America's defeated Carlton County in the ballgame 28 to 16 final in that contest and Fitzgerald with a win over Jackson they advance to the finals pass at the line of scrimmage and compete.
Mobley broke it up for the series makers.
The Raiders were trying to get something started on that first play.
Jesse on that possession while Wilbur trying to throw it.
Interesting you know this team had run the ball on first down most of the game and they come out, open up a second half of the pass.
So I guess they try to catch Kyrie off guard, but it was really second down.
After the incomplete pass by Wilbur.
Most of the Raider offense in the first half was via the ground.
They face a second and ten here.
Come on the ground.
Luther's right side legs cut from under him near the 46 yard line.
Derrick Williams, the senior in on the stop for the Sirup Makers pick up of about five on the play by Lucas.
Rasmussen with good field position if they can somehow convert here and continue the momentum if you look at a break for four but they had a little momentum going into the fourth in the first half, but they just couldn't ever convert and they did it and they had two turnovers.
So that's something they got to eliminate.
Third and five here for Wolverine, the Raiders misdirection on the inside, Jenkins spins back.
To the interior.
The short they stop at the line of scrimmage.
May have gotten one or two on the play, but well short of the first down, a little counter play on the inside to Jenkins.
It's a good read by Anderson.
He's stepped up.
It wasn't fluid at all by the counter look and he made a great play.
Several sirup makers in on that play continue to look at Coach Flowers as his team gets ready to punt it away.
He and Davis back deep for the sirup makers.
Spencer had that miscue in the first half, caused a safety opponent high kick by Spencer at the top of the ceiling here for our catch called for and made a biggie here the 24 yard line that's where the senior thinkers take it back on offense.
It seemed like we're seeing some the same things we saw in the first half.
You know, they're three and out but both squads and you know, to win this game here, somebody's got to step up and make a play.
Yeah, you can't be too conservative, but at the same time.
Jon Nelson standing by the sideline.
I believe.
The jazz.
Here's what's going on.
I spent some time listening to the Carroll coaching staff and they're telling offense that this is a game of missed opportunities.
Somebody has to make a play when it comes to offense.
And also, Jake, boundary kicker the update he's got his shoe on kind of looked at me like to look a little half sign with his hand so he's going to give it a go, guys.
Thanks, John.
Indicating that he's ready if needed, huh?
So on that first down play pass was incomplete.
It was intended for Cedric DuPont's.
You take a look on the replay.
Nothing wrong with the pass here, Jesse.
You know, there's been a lot of drop ball that they'll feel had played pretty well today as far as getting the ball where it should be.
But unfortunately, there have been a lot of dropped balls.
McFadden on the defensive play for the Raiders.
Failed to get on the ground.
And keep it straight ahead with the carry.
That's Brooks.
Brooks got it.
Near the 25 yard line.
That'll be about a yard, yard and a half game for the share of makers.
But the report by Jon really speaks to what everybody in the dome knows at this point.
Jesse, somebody's got to step up, make a big play if it's going to go one way or the other in the second.
Half, it's obvious that right now somebody's got to step up.
You know, this is this is semifinals.
You want to get to the next game.
You do that.
You got to have you got to have a big play.
Only take one or two play to win the football game.
And it can happen at any time.
Third down and nine for the sirup makers from their own 25 year reverse.
Coming back this way, nobody fooled once again, Brooks wrapped up behind the line of scrimmage.
Big Mitchell Robbins, the senior on the staff.
Robin is a very quick really guy.
He can get to the football.
He showed that early in the game by getting the sack and you can see now, man, he read it out perfectly.
He's right there.
Make the tackles for loss.
And a little bit of help from Brandon Parker.
The freshman will bring up fourth down and a punting situation for Brooks and the sirup makers Daniels and McFadden back out all to receive the serve makers getting set to give it up again motion at the line of scrimmage.
That's one we believe will go against the sirup makers.
Jesse We keep talking about the fact that somebody's got to step up and make a big play in your experiences at the NFL level and even going getting to the NFL level, are there situations, are there games where the everybody just comes to decide that it's going to come down to one big play and you just kind of abandoned what it is that you thought going into the ball.
Procedure on the offense.
Fourth down.
You know, you stay with the game plan, obviously, but as an individual player, you feel that, okay, you got to turn it up.
And that's you know, you got to give something that no matter how tired you are, you know, you got to go out there and make the big play because you can't wait for someone else to do it.
You got to do it.
Coach Charles Flower at the sideline wondering if someone will make the big play for the Raiders.
Perhaps on this punt return, Brooks will kick it coming at it.
He got it away Sidewinder by Brooks pushes McFadden.
Back to the 41 He dropped it in three games at the throw and down at the 32 yard line Jonathan he in on.
A stop for the serve maker special teams and Brooks with a nice punt there bails the self makers out raiders could have had better field position to start his drive.
And the way the game been going.
Field position means everything and that was a great punt getting out of the hole there and then excellent coverage by the point team.
So Anthony Wahlberg leading the Raider Raider offense under center, their own 32 yard line on the ground.
They give it to Jenkins.
Jenkins with his head down right side up near the 36 yard line.
Kevin Jones the junior on the stop for the of makers there's no break in the philosophy of coach Charles Flowers at the sideline he's going to keep it on the ground until something happens.
None whatsoever.
You truly believe in his game plan?
I think he knows what got him here.
So he definitely keeping it on the ground.
Second and six.
Back, man, that's Lucas steps over.
One defender spins.
Near the 40.
Though he got to remember he playing against one of the toughest defense defense in the quarter.
And they have lived up to their reputation and relative to ball and so far they have played great.
Needless to say, both defensive have played great replay here.
Looking at Lucas on the play from scrimmage, got it past the initial defensive line.
You always see Mobley on the stops and just.
Because you obviously have more than one defensive player to the football, he doesn't want to do things that get to the ball and you try to make a play.
And sneak it ahead for the first down on it, third down and one.
Anthony Wilbur got the first down for the Raiders.
Larry Brown on a stop for the serious Lakers on the replay, they're over a 511, £150 is what they show him on the roster.
You know what he finds decreased.
They do a good job as far as getting his body down in the field.
He's down by an increase in getting the extra he needed for the first down.
So they moved the chains.
Three as we near the five minute mark touched in ten for the Raiders on the ground Lucas angling back to.
The inside pick up of about three perhaps four for the Raiders.
Jeremy Queen on the stop for the seraph makers will give him three on the carry.
Do you know what?
It's been very typical of the Raiders throughout the whole game.
They were move the ball you would think you know at a decent pace and all of a sudden something would happen.
They would still make this drive here.
They need to continue the way they put they do it and eventually they can get in scoring and scored runs.
Wilber under center split the backs behind them this trip and on the right side Jenkins with the carry into set up maker territory falls ahead near the 47 yard line, awfully close to the first down marker as well.
Larry Brown once again and on the staff for the center of maker for me.
Coach Flowers got to be pretty pleased right now with the offensive line, how they coming off the football and how they pushing the ball down the field because this ball's right into their hand.
Want to get 3 to 4 yards at a time.
And he got to feel real good about that and feel that he can do that.
You know, eventually something will give and they can get that big play.
We talked about.
Third and one.
Here's a big play for the Raider offense in this area.
Make a defense, Jake, and stumbled at the line of scrimmage if he fell ahead enough for the first down.
Antonio Holt, a sophomore and on a stop at Jenkins and it was mostly Jenkins who lost his balance.
And that's what it looks like.
They're going to have to measure Coach Flowers, trying to talk them into a more liberal measurement.
I don't think he was too happy with the spot.
Yeah, and.
They will stretch to change to check it out.
Boy, look at that camera shot there all day long.
Phenomenal shots by a camera crew here at the Georgia Dome.
We can see it.
That's the difference.
Now, having to make a decision.
Coach Tuggle, I would go for it the way my defense been holding up all day long.
They've been playing excellent.
They need to play.
This would like really boost their offense if they could possibly get the first.
But I think Coach Flower has told me differently.
Looks like Chad Spencer brings a lot on coaching on the field on the far side.
Listen good.
Please put it Spencer are setting to punt Ricky Davis back deep and some deep back as well for the they're focused so this formation is a punt maybe trying to draw him off now they snap it Spencer will kick it away high kick by Spencer Davis feels that the team wrapped immediately No that's me with the football now they pull him down near the seven or the eight yard line.
Let's go over to Jim.
Jamaica on coach sandbars.
All right.
Thanks, Charles.
Earlier today, the triple-A semifinal featuring Fitzgerald and Jackson coach Robbie Pruitt, son running back Tyler Pruitt with the 15 yard touchdown run here.
The two point conversion made it 21 nine Fitzgerald here purple hurricanes go on to win a 2816 over the Red Devils They'll face either Swain's for Washington County next weekend in the championship game back to Charles Warren.
So congratulations to coach Pruitt and the Fitzgerald team and field comes on the for Crowe on the ground they keep it tied up at the line of scrimmage and a stop about no gain there early Roger James on the carry no look inside.
That can go guess and again later yeah picks it up back.
Here we got to find some type of movement whether through the air on the ground there's something to get them a little more motivated.
Builds on their center, faces second and ten from their own ten fields bang at the line of scrimmage And Terry Williams with the big time stick on the die play carry by Roger James Williams with the exclamation point on the tackle that was one on a Jesse.
I tell you, A.C., that was a big time play.
And he came down the line of scrimmage and really laid the hammer.
I would say.
You can take editorial license for that.
The injured serve maker was Derrick Williams will try to get a status report on him when we're able to as field goals upon under center facing player on 11 somebody bumped him from behind he's going up top got a man out in the flat pass over throw in near the 35 intended for Butler but one of his own players ran into the back of field as he was taking a drop.
Jesse, take a look.
You take a look right here.
It's interesting.
They went downfield.
It definitely makes the defensive backs under the deep pass.
The first pass is thrown over 10 to 20 yards since the game began.
So, you know, they will come back to that again.
He's got to set it up and call it the right time.
A big fourth down play.
It'll be a punt for the of makers so the raiders here expecting the good foot get good field position Brooks kick it that deep line drive kick McFadden will field near midfield angles to his right.
Hand side the 40 is way inside of the throw big return there by.
Reggie McFadden up to the 27 yard line as we go on change of possession for the Raiders and now a triple A semifinal flashback.
1998 triple semifinal.
Carroll and Dani, the Trojans had one too many weapons for the sirup makers to handle quarterback.
Hill Joiner had plenty of speed and an accurate arm.
The Trojans go on to beat Carroll 27 to 7.
As Jim indicated, the Trojans had already received the Trojans, a Peach County 27 to 20.
In the state title game back.
Live action here at the Georgia Dome straight ahead.
That's Lucas for the Raiders.
Lucas near the 20 yard line part of Mark and down near the 21 Brown and on the stop for this year of makers a man we've called quite frequently here in the second half.
Jesse not as much as we're used to hearing your name called on Sundays.
Hey, guys, get to the football.
I mean they definitely punt the ball but got a lot of people to listen to radio being like you know you got to take advantage of the situation.
And at 20 and clock.
Running, they're down at the 21 of the zero makers.
They're under center.
Jenkins with the carry angles back to the inside down near the 16 Ricky Davis in on the stop.
Inside running game The Raiders love this They got to get backs Jenkins and they got Lucas man he guys can push the ball downfield So right now Cairo needs a big play and their back against the wall last time the next time to come up with a big play.
Or under a minute left in this third period.
They had a couple of opportunities in that first half and they let them slip away.
It's definitely their best of the ball game thus far.
First and ten from the 17 on the series makers wolverines split backfield they're coming left side Jenkins with the football Sarah makers got him tripped up the line of scrimmage Somebody went low down on him and pulled him down Larry Brown once again cut the legs from under him.
That's a good job by Larry Lucas.
You know, you need to be played on there.
You stop that two or three yards, three or four yard average instead of going.
Up into the first and one yard gain.
And their serve maker, Faithful's, taking a trip up from southeast Georgia supporting this area makers second to nine for the Raiders.
Lucas met at the line of scrimmage heats.
Adam Copeland Straight up.
Copeland wins the battle.
It's about attitude.
That brings us to the end of the third period.
Two Nothing lead for the sirup makers over the Raiders.
We get set for the fourth half of this.
This is GP, TV, your PBS station serving Atlanta and all of Georgia, GPD TV bringing you the best.
You're watching the Georgia High School Association Football Championships on TV to nothing.
Your score.
Fourth quarter we go Charles Ward and Jesse Tuggle with the play call.
Carol leading the Raiders offshore but it's third down and nine for the Raiders.
They're down at the 16 of the Sarah makers.
Well, they're under center second man that's Jenkins.
Somebody hit him at the line, but he.
Keeps his feet fighting near the ten yard line.
Ricky Davis got up under him, cut his legs.
Jenkins kept moving forward, fell near the ten.
Jesse, no question about this one.
This is going to be a close ballgame as we look at the replay question to you, who do you think does favors in such a close contest coming down to the wire now?
Right now.
And you got to go.
The Raiders, you know, they've been there, done this before.
You look back at the round two and they please send it quick.
You know, they win by penetration.
So you don't know if they're just setting this up for the whole time.
They wanted a low scoring game.
Spencer comes on with the fourth down.
The Raiders are going.
To try a field goal.
They put it down.
Spencer with plenty of distance on it Spencer tries a through Raiders get their first point to the ball and they lead it.
3 to 2.
And there's a flag thrown.
On the field goal attempt.
Let's check this out, Jesse.
See if they have to kick it again.
If it was against the serve makers.
But right now, you don't want to take the points off the board.
If somehow it is against Cairo Road, you keep the points because you never can tell if it will happen.
The next play.
Is going against the Sierra Packers.
It'll be an interesting call for Coach Field here.
Coach Lauren Field at the sideline and his counterpart Charles Flowers at the other flowers will have the predicament in terms of what he decides here will take officials conferring with Harris Baker in the special teams, special teams captain for the Raiders.
And Coach Flowers out to be very careful about taking points off the board.
If you say go with the first today, they're going to happen.
But at the same time.
I've got Ruffin on the defense on the center.
We have a yeah I have the gist of the goal at first down so.
They don't take your advice Jessie.
They're going to mark it off, take the first and goal to go at the Sirup Maker six.
It's about attitude right now defensively for the potatoes, they're making this you know this to take pride in their defensive effort and now it's time to keep by the end zone.
I'm looking at the replay didn't really see anything that would indicate roughing.
No question about the kick by Spencer.
That was good but the raiders get a break go first and.
Goal to go from the five well they're under now on the ground they go right time Spencer angles back to the inside on his distance near the goal line say he's down at about the.
Half yard line Mobley in on a stop for a share of makers and watch the replay Look at Spencer on his hands.
Term running back here he wants gets in the end zone so.
Sterling Spencer Jenkins that is a senior.
The raiders with a chance to go up here to the line of scrimmage and a. Timeout taken taken by the sirup makers and second and goal to go for the raiders Lucas or Jenkins we'll get the call we expect.
Most definitely they go with their bread and butter here.
But at the same time, you know, Cairo has their back, back up, back up against the wall here.
You got to, as indicated here, Jose.
As they talk about this play calls for its sideline, is there always a belief with the defense even when you're pressed down right here with just a half yard to go, that you can stop a team win in this case, three downs left.
And you got to believe it's all about attitude right here.
You have to step up and you got to get penetration from your big guys up front and linebackers got to be attacking the line of scrimmage.
It's not wait read now is hit it and.
React down at the line of scrimmage.
You can see it.
Another excellent camera shot.
That's what's remaining the Raiders to get six points.
Whoa, there everybody.
In tight second man.
That's two.
No question about a touchdown for the Raiders.
They take the three points off on the field goal.
They go with the penalty, they go first and goal to go from the five and two plays later.
They're in for six.
It goes lowers.
You know, he took a chance by taking the points off the board and you did the right thing and.
They rewarded him.
I mean, the guys were determined to get it into the end zone and this is exactly what they did.
Spencer on now to try the point after the raiders lead it 6 to 2 with the Raiders take a time out before the fall and after as you take a look at the touchdown run by Jenkins only a half longer to go nice blocking side easy six points.
Look at the offensive line they really came up the football it was a walk in for I think it did a great job.
I think going sliding to the outside play seemingly designed to go somewhere between guard and tackle.
Make yes that's a feel as far as they'll get to the lions scrimmage and just take it west there and right there it was designed to go inside and he just eased it right up tackles for a walk into.
A relieved coach Charles Flowers at the sideline.
Sterling Jenkins finished the regular season just a few yards shy of thousand yards in his total career.
And you take a look at his performance today almost at the century Mark Jesse will have about 10 minutes left in the ballgame.
And the way he's been run the ball today hit definitely get 100 yards without a doubt.
You know, he's the type of guy who pound the ball inside, pound it inside and wait for something big to happen.
And you can tell when he get ball that he's going downhill.
You don't see him run running lateral.
He's taking a well-deserved seat at the Raider sideline as Spencer will try the point after.
17 missed it right.
Missed it to the right on point after Spencer can't believe it and at 6 to 2 that could loom large.
It could.
Spencer had plenty of hype on it just kept it off to the right.
Jim Janaki, you and coach soundbars your thoughts?
Well, charles, with the coach and coach, you were saying that you would have been more conservative there, huh?
I would have taken two points.
I'll be honest with you.
He's ahead.
I mean, that that extra point may you know, it doesn't make a difference but.
It's his call.
Well, and he made a good one, evidently.
Well, he did.
You know, the touchdown was set up by punt return.
The kicking game is playing a big part in this game.
Special teams all the way.
All right, Charles.
Thanks, Jim and Coach Barr.
Jesse, you're in good company.
Coach Bars agrees with you?
Yeah.
It's tough to take points off the board at any time because you never want what's going to happen on the next play.
But that time it paid off big and they really they need to say points.
They got it at only one in seven.
But if it takes two point.
Spencer to kick it.
Ricky Davis standing near the goal line for the Sirup Makers.
Set for the return.
So the Raiders lead for the first time this evening at the end zone.
It'll be a touchback zero makers out at the 20 to start this offensive possession.
When cable first came out in the first half looked like they really wanted to pass the football.
Then it got a little conservative in this half, then they down by a few points.
It would be interesting to see if they really come out and try to pass the ball now.
Stay down on the ground and run the ball.
Blake Field really hasn't gotten his feet up under him all game long and a lot of the reason hasn't been as fast as many receivers have dropped a couple of his passes, but now with 1037 left in the ballgame, everything's going to be on cue.
But is there a maker's slots to the left of field shortstop fires in the flats pass complete out there to Singletary his favorite target.
This is actually what field needed right here a real quick pass, a completion, you know, get his confidence up a little bit and just continue to march the ball down.
Spark a Singletary, the senior receiver for the Sierra bankers 13 grabs in the regular season.
That's a big catch for the soup maker second down and four for the six yard catch by Singletary.
I formation behind field and the line is oh that's such looking at the left corner that's Brooks Brooks trying to turn it after 37 yard line Russell down by Biggers a nice first down run.
For the Sarah Baker.
That's a great run by Brooks here it's called the longest run from scrimmage all night and you see right here he is a great vision.
Take the ball, bounce it outside.
He gets the first down.
Charles Ward and Jesse Tuggle here with a play call, the semi final quarter, a football game we'll be back tomorrow night for the other semifinal ball available exciting states ball fields fires.
In the flats got them and they're complete here amidst catch just made out there but I said the dolphins defense turns it up peeled and.
The sirup makers starting to turn it on on.
Offense.
Now you can tell what company does for a quarterback, particularly a young quarterback, and get a completion early, a short game and then you go downfield.
He finds weapons.
Right here is.
Coverage provided by McFadden but a nice pass nice route at the corner by DuPont walking the sideline in the care of makers and to Raider territory trying to answer the touchdown by the Raiders.
You can feel the momentum changing right now.
Field with an eye formation behind.
Him but pitch they come right side looking for the corner with the football James James.
Stop made by Harris Baker and Mitchell Robinson on a stop for the Raiders as well.
Yeah Brown James.
Picked up about a half yard on the play the ball at the 46 and the Raiders shocked on set for the freshman quarterback slot is to his right.
Raiders for five in the box now field looks to his left arm a classic pass complete.
To single Taylor only about a three yard pick up on the pass route.
McFadden covering for the Raiders.
0000 and seven And.
You saw it maker starting to toss it a lot more often here.
That's what I expected.
They wanted to do it a lot in the first half, but they did.
And now they feeling pretty comfortable with what they doing and feel is been a little more relaxed back there and getting the ball out.
Certainly a different element for the Raider defense to have to contend with because the first half, the super fakers, pretty quiet in terms of pass up third down seven now shotgun set for field double slot field looking for his right flags coming in at the line of scrimmage.
Officials conferring.
And then after this ball game, stay right with Georgia Public Television for the semifinals of the five, a division, the stars mill versus the Hoyas of Harrison.
That should be a good ball.
Game to be a great matchup.
All day long on Georgia Public Television, one semifinal action to at the play call.
Procedure on the offense third down push.
Them back five, third and 12.
Field and the shot then.
Jumps to his right.
Looking that way fires and made their near the 37 yard line Marcus Butler the big target for.
Quarterback fields and they get it awfully close to the first down marker.
Jesse.
I tell you what, the.
Field is looking and better after every play, that kid is dropping back and low, confident, standing tall and getting the ball right to his receivers.
Boy, that was a big play.
There for the self maker offense.
That's why.
Still breathing a sigh of relief.
Take a look at his son here patiently in the pocket found Butler and Butler got just enough with that second effort there for the self maker first down there.
But the big receiver, he knew it was close.
He used every bit of his body to stretch out and then get the first down.
The first and ten for the share makers at the 36.
Of the Raiders on the field accident alive and well that Nissan Altima flat one Hamilton pass goes incomplete yet.
Tony Green had a look at it thought he was going to pull it in with one hand Jesse but he couldn't quite do it.
He can was was the emotions right here.
I feel that he wanted this guy.
He knew the guy was wide open.
But unfortunately, I think he threw the ball a little behind behind the receiver.
And he was quite upset with himself on the right play.
Perfect.
Perfect on the replay, on the bootleg.
You know, he's got to get the it gets it behind him.
And right there, he's a he's a little upset.
Little really an interesting situation there because there was a lot of real estate in front of feel there if he'd elected to.
Run the football.
So then they go back to that roll up shockers assist field right side squares at the corner pass complete nice catch up the corner by Marcus Butler and Butler.
Once again near the first down marker looks to be a little shy on this catch, as Darren Daniels, the Junior, provides that defensive coverage for the Raiders.
Butler Butler's really stepping up big on this drive here.
Had a big first down catch and come back right here and have another big yes.
Now replay.
Nice pass from the quarterback.
Great build and he's found Butler once again on the same drive for another big catch third down and one for the series makers.
Later 27 yard line on the ground straight ahead.
A lot of traffic in there.
Derek Mobley on the carry for this year of makers and boy that's going to depend exclusively on the mark here of big time.
The raiders defense really stepped up here and I think it's fourth down.
He's a little short of the first down.
Here comes another interesting call.
That Travis murphy made the stop for the Raiders and didn't seem to be much of a question in the mind of Coach Warren from the Serra Maker sideline.
This is gut check time for the series makers as it is for this coach and his players.
The Raiders lead at six two and bring the chains on.
Now, Coach Lauer's motivating his players there because if he know that's no, that's not the first, they definitely would try to go for it.
And you need a leader step up.
Oh, curious.
Blake Field standing right there near the officials.
As you see the distance remaining, we saw the six zero make a first.
And here comes the head coach.
The players are sort of encouraging because to go through and so are the fans who made.
The trip up here to the Georgia Dome.
They got to love Georgia high school football.
And this is what this is all about.
Don't think there was ever any question in the mind of Coach Steele.
They were going to go for a very short and they are less than a yard for the Sierra.
Make a first look at the drive by the sirup makers ten plays 53 yards, almost 5 minutes consumed off the clock.
The story is can they keep it and get the touchdown field under setting north in about a half for the first trying to throw them off if they can.
Oh he lost the snap.
He lost it.
And only the goal of.
One possession of the fumble to the Raiders.
That's a big mistake there.
And Terry is Williams with the recovery for the Raiders.
And boy was that ever a big mistake there you got the sense the sirup makers were trying to draw them offsides with the long count and when they finally realized they had to snap it, Blake Field wasn't quite ready for.
The Raiders, so discipline, they did not jump on the hard count.
They hung in there.
Hung in there.
And it seemed like the Sooners snap the ball before Blake was ready.
And Terrance Williams with the big recovery, the Raiders and boy coach was on the field and the serve maker certainly would like to have that over.
They were trying to draw the Raiders off and it backfired first and ten for the Raiders.
Now they keep it on the ground.
Lucas with the football right side.
Okay, defense really got to stay focused and do what they've been doing all day.
Hold on a stop.
As we take a look at tomorrow's ballgames class AA, it's the Commerce Tigers versus Larry Campbell and this red devils of Lincoln County Cook Hornets versus Washington Wilkes Tigers in the 12 noon ballgame.
Then at 3 p.m. ist Waynesboro versus Washington County.
And then in the quarter we'll be back with the Seminoles of Creekside and the Blue Devils of Statesboro.
And then the finality.
It's a part of you, Panthers versus the Seminoles and West side make a.
Big day tomorrow as well.
Second down for the Raiders on the ground, Jacob spins back into the.
Inside, fighting his way closer to the first down marker and running off more time on the clock.
It's a big down coming up for the crowd defense that they've been doing good all day long.
But this is a down they need to get off the football.
They try to get the ball back to their offense.
Jalen Queen on the stop for the Packers.
Oh 434 Left on the ball game six to lead He third down and two as.
Rober comes to the line of scrimmage he takes the time out with the team question for the Raiders If they can just continue to make some first downs, force the sirup makers to take some time out here and keep the drive going.
They could run it out at a 6 to 1.
Take a look at Sterling Jenkins on the evening.
22 carries just shy of 100 yards with 97 thus far.
The big marker there averaging over four yards per carry.
And that's a lot of yards.
I tell you right now, don't be surprised if you see it take it with the ball on the next gear because he really, really didn't run away, particularly inside or inside the tackles and he had 30.
So it was likely he'll get the call.
On the field inside.
That's like a hold on a second.
Gets an inside of that.
He got to be telling good guys continue to play.
You've been playing all day long.
They've been doing an excellent job of front, just getting really big.
Get the ball back to the offense because right now, you know it coming down and time is becoming a factor.
The offense needs the football.
We just saw the timeout situation.
Each team with two as a Sarah Baker's failed six two to the Raiders Raiders facing a third down and two from their own 37.
Wilber on the ground had.
And his second effort still shy of the first down though their makers recognize the importance of the stop there and boy they gang tackle Jenkins well on it led by Derek Mobley.
Great defensive effort it did exactly what it had to do then.
It wasn't a punt.
Near the four minute mark Chad Spencer on and kick it away for the Raiders Davis and Guy back for the series makers fourth and one under 4 minutes remaining here.
At the Georgia Dome.
Spencer with the kick Spencer bounces He goes straight out of bounds Mark it out near the 26 yard line So here come the SARA makers with 335 remaining and two timeouts led by that young man, Blake Field, the freshman.
Blake has his work cut out for him.
Now, you had a situation where I think the defense will respect you to pass the football, and that's helping to come up big and execute.
The Raiders are aware of that.
They would like to have someone step up and get an interception.
Shotgun is a set.
Of field blocks.
Either side fires pass close and faint near the 40 yard line.
McFadden on the coverage intended for Butler that one thrown behind.
Butler Yeah, that one was thrown behind.
But that's why they tried his best.
But try to turn his body and make that catch.
But, you know, I think I think for sure field know that ball wasn't where it should have been and he would make note of that.
So as a second and ten for the Sarah bakers take a look at the sideline turn it up and down the bench in the shotgun set.
Field looking left fires in the clouds kind of man on the cross catch made by Cedric DuPont's coupons at the first down grab near the 44 yard line.
Aaron Daniels.
Providing the coverage for the Raiders but that's a nice catch from the first down from Cedric DuPont's timeout taken this one by the Raiders so they burn one defensively right now.
The linebacker coming back up he really was trying to regroup this passing off because again.
Remember that fish in the trailer stadium telling be loud with your town okay much.
That louder go let's go.
Come on.
There we go.
Hey, guess you got hold of the rocket play 33 yards right?
Oh, oh, oh.
They cut three, Ralph Raider three.
They thought we got ten better makers that they sideline first and ten after the catch my defense but.
It's the point we made early in the half just knew that if they serve makers got the passing game going away present some problems for the Raiders because they hadn't seen much of it in the first.
Half.
And obviously you can see the problems, the serve makers are really spreading the raiders out right now and they're pushing the the defender passed.
And right now Blake is looking pretty good here, looking more and more comfortable, just looking at his body language.
He totally relaxed and he got ready to go to the ball, put it first attempt on their.
Own 42 field looking to his right fires.
This one caught.
Again by butler at the sideline.
Butler inside of Raider territory.
Near the 47, perhaps the 46 yard line.
Again, McFadden And guarding for the Raiders.
Take a look at the replay here.
They get blamed.
He just sits in there and he hit his target right there.
But it does an excellent job.
I keep our eyes on the ball stretching out and continuously moving the flags.
That's the key right now.
Let's do the best performance to play.
That happened in the game.
My fan actually hanging on for dear life there.
I know.
Otherwise Butler was headed down the sideline at all and no timeouts left.
Now there is more to it.
They have it first and ten zero once going up top pass goes incomplete intended.
Out there for Chris Henderson he feels overthrows.
Deion does a good job of playing for Daniels.
He does a good job.
I never knew he would get past it.
He gave the cushion.
Gave cushion.
It went for a little pump fake.
But he didn't bite at all because right now, if you get beat at corner, you give up, you give up six points.
You can't let that happen.
Second and ten, Jesse, after the incomplete pass.
You feel once again in the pocket fires across the middle, same receiver, but turn it upside down.
Near the first down marker.
Thanks a lot for on the crossing round figures with the hit it will be shy of the first make it third down and two look at the replay.
And bell is giving it everything you have.
Like every player, right?
You know, they know it comes down to the next 2 minutes and 20 seconds, know who goes on to the state championship.
So it's all on the line right here, right now.
Like Phil ten and 22 on a emu, 85 yards, third down and two.
Field short drop pass baton at the line of scrimmage.
Somebody's got a hand up their flag coming in fast of the field passes intended for Butler on the short route just enough to pick up the first down but one of the Raiders up front got a hand on it quick though.
Timeout just a penalty on the field as Blake Edwards was trying to complete it to Butler offense and the assessment going against the self makers big play there coach flowers at the sideline indicating they want to take this play that split the play call.
Offensive pass in offense.
Awesome down fourth down.
Oh well that hurts that hurts big time Take a.
Look at the penalty situation.
Both teams win five each, but that was a big win this year.
Makers, that was extremely large.
It came at a very crucial time.
205 remaining.
And they are going to be forced to go for this on fourth, fourth and 16.
Field in the shotgun rookie going up top got some separation and he.
Overshoots his man He had DuPont's on the post drought near the 20 but the pass with too much air under it and the sirup makers will give it back to the Raiders.
Boy, how big a penalty could that be?
Jesse Oh, that was so large.
You know, it forced him in a bad situation to go forward on 40 long.
And, you know, it comes at a time where, you know, you put a lot of pressure on a quarterback, but particularly a freshman.
The kid played pretty well all day.
But, you know, to convert that fourth down there would almost been a miracle.
Fourth and 15, they give it back to the Raiders and Anthony Walberg back to lead the charge as quarterback for the Raiders.
201 remaining in the ballgame.
Raiders without any time out and a couple of first downs certainly would help their cause keep it on the ground.
Jenkins dancing back to the inside turn probably on a stop for the seraph makers or serum makers.
Take the time out with a minute 51 remaining in the ballgame.
At this point in the game, you know, as far as keto is concerned, you got to do everything you possibly can.
Now it's time to strip the ball out, pull it out, anything.
Because you know, everything you work for is on the line right now and they've not looking very well.
Just one timeout remaining for the Sirup makers.
Raiders know that if they can get a couple of first downs here, that will just about close it out.
They will be able to advance to the finals.
Not a whole lot of scoring six to lead by the Raiders.
They have the football, but they've won some close ones throughout the course of the season.
This one, the you allow them to go to the finals if they can hang on.
This is a team that's pretty hungry, man.
This is a team who try to, you know, make history in a school since they haven't ever advanced far in the semifinals and close out tonight and get to the state's efficacy of leaving a lot to the guys and the school.
Second and seven wolves under center on the ground.
Jenkins there workhorse works at right side carrying a couple of defenders with him.
He lost the football.
We believe will wait and check it out.
Their makers are saying that they have it in officials.
Flag's going to be thrown in there now.
They're going to.
Probably give this football to the Raiders and assess the serve makers.
It's about emotion going on out there and that's the biggest thing.
They working hard to take the ball away and they feel that they had it.
And the guys are just getting very emotional and I think they're probably going to call them an additional penalty.
Dead ball foul against the sirup makers.
Brad Bogan thought he stripped it out of there cleanly for the Sara makers and he voiced that to the officials.
Where is instant replay?
He will need it, huh?
Ball unsportsmanlike conduct on the black tape passed out.
So the result is the move of the chains.
Up to the 25 yard line for the Raiders.
It's flowers keeping an eye on the clock here at the Georgia Dome, recognizing that he's not too far from this team's first appearance in the quarter finals.
Officials are coming to the Crows sideline.
Looks like they're asking some assistance from some of the officials here at the Georgia Dome.
It looks like that gentleman got an early departure ticket.
Yeah.
Sometimes you can.
Everything you think it would look, you might have said the wrong thing.
Taking the walk to the tunnel a minute, 30 5:00, moving here at the Georgia Dome first and ten for the Raiders after a serve maker, 25 more over the clock off now going under center gets back and takes me simply to get the clock going.
The Raiders last weekend want an 8 to 7 in overtime against Sandy Creek and they get another close ballgame here in the Georgia Dome and looks like they're going to pull this one out to JESSUP But they take a timeout called here.
And the way the game was played, you know, it fell right into the Raiders hands because they've been there, done that before.
Two weeks ago, they went by penetration and and today you know it wasn't much offense going on a game stay close and they get exactly what.
They wanted to do.
And then the other point about to win the football game last time out taken.
By the Sierra makers their last one on the ball game second down and 12 for the Raiders and it's all a matter of time.
Now let's go over to Jim Ginn, Akio and coach Sam Mars.
Hi, Charles.
I'll tell you what, the semifinals have definitely been sticky for the sirup makers over the last three years.
1998, Dorothy Beats Carol, 27 seven, 1999, Oconee County beats Carol 17, seven and coach.
It looks like she's got this one in the bag, 6 to 2.
I tell you, you got to feel for Carol.
But my hat goes off to show they have a fine football team in London.
One thing that people don't know, Jim, is they've going to wire to wire number one this year.
Started out the first game of the season and they're still number one.
They got a chance to be number one next week.
All right, back to you, Charles.
That certainly is a tough thing to do.
Coach Barnes, go from start to finish that way and the Raiders headed that way to at least contend for it.
They had a great season.
You know, this may have put them right there at 14.
You know, they've been number one safety and season started and they want to finish on top as well.
But steps back and takes a knee.
He'll get the clock started.
His raiders will meet either the Seminoles at Creekside or the Blue Devils or State tomorrow and a ball game coming your way tomorrow.
That ball game at 6:00.
And the winner you see there, Shaw, will get the win out of those two golf clubs tomorrow for the finals all.
The way it is.
The players got to be pretty excited about everything they accomplished this year, you know, but as far as being a defensive player and he plays so hard with the defense, you know, the guys and they had a great season, they played well and you know, you move on.
So, you know, I take my hat off to the old guys because, you know, I want to be one winner.
You know, you're right.
And it looks like this one will belong to the Raiders of Shawn.
It wasn't a high scoring affair, but he said they have to be high scoring.
The Raiders win it six two over the sirup makers of Cairo.
It's a great defensive game as well.
So it will go down as a defensive battle.
We thought it would go that way at the beginning and it has concluded that you see Coach Flores coming over to congratulate Coach Field and his sirup maker team fine ball game played on both sides of the football.
Absolutely so make us certainly want nothing to hold our heads down about close contest can go either way today it is the Raiders a a show winning at six two over the sirup makers and they will advance to the finals against either Creekside or Statesboro.
Coach Flowers never did deviate from that game plan.
Jesse They kept it on the ground and something finally broke for them.
John Nelson standing with the winning coach Nellie.
Here with a very tired, victorious man.
Did you think it was going to be a pitcher's doing like this?
We did.
I mean, we came into the ball game.
Both of us then 13 ball games has given up seven at one point.
And we knew it would be a defensive struggle in a play with a great ballgame.
You know, the game could have gone either way.
I mean, those guys have a great team, have a great winning tradition.
And and our kids didn't quit and neither did this.
I mean, it's a shame that somebody had to lose this ballgame.
Let's take it all the way back to the first half for a little bit.
Turnovers really seem to be your bugaboo in the first half.
I mean, we we did everything was good.
We dropped an interception that should have been one.
We formed the ball two times.
I mean, you know we gave them what, three times actually.
And, you know, we could have very easily quit, but our guys came out, got the second half, and they'll play good football.
What did you tell them in the locker room?
To keep their heads screwed on straight?
Oh.
I didn't tell them a whole lot.
As you know, we started this process last year in January.
And, you know, you guys can either get ready to practice basketball on Monday or else the one that we can get ready to play another ballgame.
What's it like to go wire to wire so far?
Number one is he gets congratulations as well.
You should.
Yes.
It's a great feeling to go all the way.
I mean, you can't even explain and I can't explain.
I mean, the guy did a great job.
I mean, a tremendous job and just proud of him.
Let's talk about the running game a little bit.
Sterling had another solid day.
It's not about getting those guys up front.
We knew were very quick and hopefully we could try to weigh them down a little bit.
But they didn't wear down, but our guys just kept running hard and kept getting after that.
At least one thing we do know is that the road to the championship goes down.
I want 85 Charles Williams, congratulations.
Thank you very much.
Let's send it back upstairs.
And by the way, as he gets to the victor gone the spoils hammer where does that nickname of mine.
Hey, look, I've got to come up with one for you.
We'll call you the that Nelson.
Six to lead.
Win for the Raiders over the Sara makers here in the semifinals of the quarter division will step aside and I we'll have more from the Georgia Dome.
