It's the 2004 Georgia High School Association class for a football state championship featuring the Warner.
Robins Demons at 13 oh and one taking on the stage four Blue Devils at 14 and oh.
We are located some 50.
Miles west of Savannah, 120 miles northeast of Warner Robins here in Statesboro.
The team and fans made the two and a half hour trip here to Statesboro for the big grand finale.
This one features two coaches in their first year as head coaches at their respective schools and their first year as a head coach to win a state championship.
It's an incredible story here in Statesboro.
Both teams had some incredible stories at the Georgia Dome.
Brian Wei of Warner Robins, Steve Pennington of Statesboro let their teams to great victories in the semifinals, leading them here to the state championship game.
First, we begin with highlights from the Georgia Dome.
Warner Robins taking on Wear County.
The Demons came in at 1201 one, the Gators at 12 and one.
Elton Sanders starting the scoring parade with a one yard touchdown run.
Later, Kyle Hicks gets the call from a yard out.
14 nothing Warner Robins.
But this would be Ashton Sanders day.
The senior tailback scored four times this play cover 20 yards.
Then Sanders goes straight up the gut on this play, 19 yards and a touchdown.
And then check out this 147 yard run from scrimmage.
Afterwards, Sanders gave all the credit to his offensive line.
He said They open the holes.
I simply just ran right through them.
Demons junior running back.
Brandon Anderson then contributed with this six yard touchdown run.
Warner Robins wins it up.
We're counting 40 to nothing Sanders 266 yards rushing and for touchdowns on the day.
Meantime, the Statesboro Blue Devils took on the Salem Seminoles in a battle of unbeaten Salem.
Punter Brett Keenan has his kick blocked by freshman linebacker Weldon Watts Watch recovers the loose ball in the end zone seven nothing Blue Devils offensively the Blue Devils were led by quarterback David Cone.
He rolls right and hits number nine be the freshman tight end Sherrard and Watson what a catch by Nelson 14 nothing stage brutal defensively states Crow had six shutouts throughout the year they held the Seminoles scoreless Salem quarterback Darius Mathis picked off three times here by Franklin Wilkerson.
The junior defensive back grabs one there.
Zach Sanders meantime, then hits a 23 yard field goal.
Salem had four turnovers, one block punt for a touchdown.
Statesboro beat Salem 17 to nothing as they make their second straight trip to the four eight title game.
And one other note involving Statesboro.
Head coach Steve Pennington and his wife Luana tonight are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
We brought upstairs with the two guys to call the game, Charlie Ward and Gerald Riggs.
Hello, guys.
Hello, Jimmy.
And the fever pitch in the booth is just as high as it is at field level.
Good evening, everybody.
Charles Ward, Gerald Riggs.
Glad you could join us.
Gerald, two teams that are very familiar with the state title in the state of Georgia, the demons win for the Blue Devils with two.
Let's start out by talking about the demons of one of Robin's.
One Robin stance in this game.
To me, they're the irresistible force.
And one of the guys who leads this team is their senior running back number 21 all time centers.
The seed last week at the Dome.
He had 18 rushes for 266 yards, four touchdowns.
This guy here leads an offense that is absolutely fantastic all season long.
These guys here have been obviously over three of four years and seven yards a game and 320 of those yards on the ground.
An amazing 35 points per game.
They are going to be very, very tough team to deal with.
Of course, the demons of Warner Robins, coached by Bryan Way.
We caught up with him prior to the ballgame to get his thoughts about their game plan coming into the championship.
Well, we run the wing team and so we don't do what we do.
We run football and, you know, have most of the time been pretty successful.
So we're not gonna deviate a whole lot from what we do, you know, all year.
And, you know, we don't try to run the bucks, we the trap and you know, have a lot of counter counters and things like that and make sure our play action and you know, and run in situations, you know, we know we can't spread the field out and throw it and and be good people.
So we're just going to have to rely on execution and being pretty fundamentally sound.
And defensively, we're pretty based we're based out of a43 and we don't sit on a lot and we just try to keep everything in front of us, not give up big plays and make the offense earn everything that they get.
And so that's you know, that's what's got us here and that's what we're going to try to do this Friday.
The Blue Devils of Statesboro High School, they two with two championships.
Let's talk about them.
Well, they are used to being here and I tell you what better place to come right here at home and do it.
The immovable object.
And with the state's grow team and their guy that makes their team go is their senior running back.
Nick Whitlow And you see last week he had 27 yards, 93 excuse me, 93 yards, 22 rushes.
But this team here is a very tough, very tough defense.
The immovable object is what I'm calling them in their defense.
You look at what they've done here on the season seven shutouts against their opponents.
You know what, only six points per game.
That is something to watch.
And we're going to see that same kind of effort, I'm sure, here tonight, Charles.
Of course, the Blue Devils, the States for a high coached by Steve Pennington in his first year.
We caught up with Coach Pennington prior to the ball game to give this thoughts about their approach to it.
Tonight.
Our offensive system is based on the power of Wishbone.
We have a three back to tight ends and essentially it's a power type game.
It does not involve any option whatsoever.
We just try to utilize strength that we have up front and our backs in the blocking set.
We will break it out occasionally to open up our defense that we're playing against, but other than that is strictly power.
Our defense is based out of a base 50, but we basically have four down linemen with one linebacker dropped off and really we don't play any man coverage just as on defense is as our coverage is concerned.
Coach Pennington's talking about power.
The fourth member of our broadcast team is that Bill Love.
He's got a lot of power timeouts.
I just saw that where the power is trying to find out sooner or later.
Let's talk about the coaching staff.
You've heard from the head coaches.
Let's start with Warner Robins.
Brian Wait was a 21 year assistant before he took the head coaching job this year.
Four other assistants on the staff also have coaching experience on that.
Warner Robins sideline to the flip side and Steve Pennington, offensive coordinator Kenny Tucker, 22, of the last 23 years on the sideline, Jack Webb went to school in Statesboro, defensive coordinator, and he had a brother who was a quarterback for the 1966 team.
And Charles and Gerald, the answer to your trivia question, the number of coaches in Statesboro who have either Statesboro or states for a high experience is also five.
Back up to you upstairs.
We knew that gets that it's the demons versus the devils.
The winner, the state champs.
Yeah, that's next year.
Yes.
Mr. Warner Robins has won the toss and deferred to the second half.
Get back live on GPB from Warmack Field and Statesboro, Georgia.
It's the four day championship match up featuring that group from Warner Robins, the Demons 13 and one on the season, trying to notch one more.
If they win tonight, it'll be their fifth title overall or the fourth title overall.
At that program, they will be up against a tough bunch from state tomorrow.
The Blue Devils had a perfect 14 and oh on the season and they come into this stadium with a warm welcome from the crowd at Womack Field, the number one ranked Blue Devils against the number three ranked Demons, a Warner Robins High School.
Sit back and buckle.
And this should be a dandy from mom.
And a strap it on that's the same result.
Strap it on.
Capacity crowd here at Warmack sitting at 6000.
Plus so far tonight's game from the Atlanta Area Football Coaches Association.
Or the Blue Devils, the state's ball.
This is how they made it to the championship round wins on the Douglas County North Side Tucker and Salem.
And out of that run, Gerald did only one offensive touchdown for the Blue Devils in that third set of all games.
But the Blue Devils, they rely heavily on that defense.
Defense wins championships when they leave the demons up.
Warner Robins.
Their journey to the championship round started with Miracle Sumter big scoring margins for Warner Robins and Creekside Roam and a 40 nothing win last weekend in the Georgia Dome.
A surprising disparity in terms of scoring there against the Gators, who we're counting.
And going for that game.
Nobody really thought that they would be able to shut them out like they did, but they handled them quite convincingly.
And here they are now for the Blue Devils and the Demons.
One Robins, Georgia, someone in.
Need of some.
They're making the trip down, supporting the demons who've turned in a fabulous season in their first year, head coach Brian Way said.
But this is what it's all about.
Once they received this way 20 year system that Robins put in the shot at this, the demons will kick it away first.
Jake Grubbs, we'll talk more about Grubbs as his game progresses.
But Grubbs certainly to be a D1 player coming out of that Warner Robins program, Nick Whitlow stands deep for State's Ball to get us going in this fourth championship.
Down in the barrel with the kick and we're.
Underway Sidewinder.
Wet low will filled it on the hop up the bloody days left side now up near the 25 yard line Blue devil.
Offense we'll take it over their first possession of this championship football game Dick Ludlow the Devils tackles led by Brandon Sidewinder to wed low Webb Low runs it decent fill position for the Blue Devils to start this offensive possession with David Cone the quarterback for the Blue Devils take a look at his numbers on the season.
73,000 patients, 956 yards, seven TDs, just three interceptions.
Very conservative on the ground.
They go left side pain at the line of scrimmage.
Good surge up front by that demon defense rose So the first offering on the ground for the Blue Devils play brings it up suck exalts in look at his no game as we look at the lineup for the Blue Devils up front it's Jackson and Cody at the tackles the guards and London and Allen Center is waters titans and their hobbins the other back for a rock with low and McCullough your fullback.
Second down and ten for states from Cole shuck the pass ultimate up there for Cordell.
Thompson the sophomore but the pass thrown just out of his reach Thompson with the big catch in the Tucker ball game and loses the ball quarterfinal round 25/3 down Look at the demons of Warner Robins defensively.
Felder rolls Brown and Ambler up front the linebacking corps.
It's Hampton, Buford and Styles.
And the secondary is Holly Gray MCKENZIE.
He's the one you got to watch.
And Davenport, McKenzie and Davenport.
The stronger safety of offensive players in that secondary for the demons, calling it a fine year for Warner Robins.
Third down ten now for the leader Cody play action running lights out fires but he threw a high price goes incomplete intended to read low softly out of the backfield and the demons of Warner Robins get what they want on his first possession zero they get the Blue Devils to go throw it.
Out and you're right and I think it kind of surprising for the most people here at state throws that they open up passing the ball but you see here quarterback dropping back had a man open but just quiet just over throws in there and almost gets the pick off actually.
So you know, the, the demons get them right where they want them on the first series.
So a lot of ball now will kick it away for Statesboro, but we'll have whistles at the line of scrimmage prior to the kick.
Well looks like is going to have 12 men on the field here for a one Robert.
If indeed you're right, it won't be enough to give the Blue Devils a first down and.
A substitution on the defense.
They'll force them to things.
See.
That'll push the football up near the 30 yard line.
States will still to kick it the officials for tonight's ballgame referees Danny Westbrook Jeff Ellwood the umpire David has coslovich the lineman they can sit in the line judge back judge Jordan Scott and Mark Brooks is the field judge all from the Atlanta Officials Association.
Glad they can make the trip down to South Georgia.
They're coming after it.
But Brown got it the way bounces at the 41 of the Blue Devils kicked it.
There and it starts to roll.
Inside of the 20 yard let me see if they actually caught.
It at the mark of the kick 15 and indeed they did the officiating crew.
We just named them find heads up job on that call and the demons will start with fairly good field position here.
Warmack If you take a look at.
Coach Steve Pennington in the mood of his watch, you know, as you saw this last a team player, even though it was a punt, it looked like Warner Robins would maybe thinking to give him a little bit some of their own medicine that was going out for the punt.
Demons led by quarterback Mark Wright, 31 of 65 on the season 668 yards seven interceptions but the sophomore with eight correct and seven touchdowns with eight interceptions.
First and ten for Warner Robins misdirection they come back like sacks Sanders bangs into the belly of the blue devils got it up near the.
47 yard one The quick hitting trap play by the demons that one works out of the first.
Down and that is their signature play.
And look for that to have a heavy dose of that.
But that play continues to be successful.
You will see that the play being called All Night Long.
Demons up front.
It's Scott and Ward.
We'll check the relation on that.
Clark and Crenshaw, Kinshasa pulling guard.
Luciano is the center running backs hits Sanders wideouts Richardson and Hamilton in a tight end.
It's hard work first and ten after the run by Sanders to go back to the inside.
Sanders a fraction.
Carried this time by Carroll Hicks, his running partner.
Hicks got it inside a Blue Devil territory near the 48.
Yes, a tough running play here just off tackle.
We call it a trap play by the fullback but they move us states brought the ball a little bit get some tough yards in there that's what they're going to look to do on that first possession.
As we look at the Blue Devils defensively, Houston, Floyd, Tanner and Deep Deep was the leader of that group of front rushing Etheridge Watkins.
He's the man at linebacker for State's Ball Secondary was Rollins Wilkerson and Knox Wilkerson.
With that interception in the semifinals last week, second down left Sam Sanders looking for a block in the hole Got it.
Near the 45.
That was just great pursuit there by Statesboro as you see of a play there the stretch of play out trying to cut off the lanes there, making sure they don't have anything to make any creases for the running back to get into it.
You saw Tommy Watkins there linebacker running there make a nice tackle 40.
5/3 down now he got back up the ball at the 45 of the Blue Devils Demons with a third and four.
Let's get right top of the flat court at the corner but immediately hitting he.
Lost the football.
He got it out in the flats to Damien Sheffield Sheffield was hit immediately.
What a nice play there by Corey Rushing.
Coming up here on the play they had to have had the right play call the Jets right to try to get the first down and keep the ball moving.
Let's see.
There it comes up.
Let's give those 15 four for Statesboro.
Michael, Michael Rollins.
Yes, Mike Ross came up with a nice stick on a play, forcing them to force a fourth down play.
And textbook performance by Rollins at that state defensive back position there went into the tackle, stripping out the football at the same time, and he forced a receiver to drop it.
Special teams as the demons get set, the punt.
The Blue Devils are just spectacular in terms of blocks.
They've got 11 on the season.
Coming into this game, but they get it away.
Nice kick.
And the receiver fell down near the ten foot ball and hit him, but he fell on top of it so the blue devils will keep it the bit Jake where the junior difficulty top the 35 yard punt drill by the demons but the Blue Devils will keep it on offense.
Absolutely.
What you're going to have to watch here in this game, special teams is going to be a big plus at this game.
I mean, you better watch on both sides of the ball because I'm sure that both coaches are saying, you know, we've got to take care of business on special teams.
States like to come out of the points.
They will block anything, anything that's on the ground.
They've got to kick or throw whatever they get after.
And I think one of our is going to be the same frame of mind.
So on the ground, right side blocks what working have for the Blue Devils now Brock.
With this first carry in the ballgame and he pushes the pack up near the 16 yard line.
And right up the middle of that play was that you see here the quarterback turns around, hands it off to the right side of the center and he just gets some tough yards in there.
I tell you what, you know, it's going to be a game right now to see which teams can continue to take all the body blue.
You see Charles Rock with on the other season, 193 rushes over 1000 yards and I believe they have two back tonight in the same backfield, little over a thousand yards.
Brock and Winslow as we get a flag at the line of scrimmage.
Blue Devils may have started early on the play first quarter from the four championships.
The ball is.
Offsides against the demons against the sun.
State School gets a break as David Cole works it from the sideline with the play.
You like to be in.
That situation as an offense gives you more options when you can get some some freebies in there.
That ball foul encroachment.
On the defense first.
Down.
I don't think they made it at all.
You know, that's that's about it.
A little help from the referee friends on both sides I'm sure when they when they get a chance like that nine.
Oh one remains first quarter the Blue Devils with the football first and ten after the assessment.
Watching the left side blue devils red looking for block at the corner He's got the throw finally shoved out of bounds.
Near the 35 yard line Blue Devils moves the chains.
And a nice play right there for Statesboro as you look at the run out to the left side.
And Gavin McCollum makes a nice block out there to spring the runner to get him down field.
So, you know, look, states will look to try to stretch them out a little bit.
They're not going to try to continue to pound.
Pound.
I think you're going to see tonight some different running for both teams.
Nick Whitlow on the season 253 rushes over a thousand yards as I was indicating that they had a couple of guys in the backfield for Statesboro to get over a thousand yards.
That's great balance for the running game first and.
Ten misdirection come back to the inside.
Charles Rock handling the football may have gotten the yard not a whole lot more the demons able to close the hole up inside and close it.
They did you know that they came there with the house lead like I don't know if it was this or a blitz situation, but they caught them in the right defense and you saw that they got great penetration there on the left side, which caused that play to get all boards up in their hips, if any game at all.
They're short.
Justin Brown and on the stop for the demons they go back in same way rock with the football looking for the corner defender Nice second effort by Charles Rock the running back for Statesboro Got it up to the 41 yard line.
And has it man again McCullough I tell you what they the backs here at Statesboro, they do one thing they as a team, they block very well together.
They get after people and you see them just turning guys in, just making contact.
And that's all you have to do.
A decent bag or good back with ability that they have will pick up some positive yards.
Right.
Picks up the positive yards.
In fact, he picks up seven.
They're down 3 to 4 states.
Statesboro Here they come.
The left side, retro looks to the clock.
He's got some room at the corner inside of Demon Territory.
Back to the inside, head low finally thumped out of bounds.
But he's bumped out of.
Bounds near the 35, perhaps the 34 Blue Devils on the move were on the.
Move.
They are.
This is almost like a version of student body left and right as they are just trying to explore the outside.
I guess they've seen something here on the film or maybe in the practice this week that, hey, we can get outside on these guys.
We know that they're strong inside, but you know what?
We have backs that can get outside.
We have linemen who can wall him off, and I think they're taking advantage of it right now.
Here from the Blue Devils, left side again went low.
Same move puts his head down, this time inside the 30 down near the 28 yard line hard run by Nick Whitlow.
At the end of that play.
Well, they are running pretty hard.
I tell you what, these backs here, these three backs they have in states four states pro backfield, these guys here are getting after it.
They're running hard.
And that's what you need to have against a defense that's very tough and they're bears physical.
You talked about Statesboro having shut out.
Warner Robins has they have a very, very stingy defense, too.
They have six shutouts to their credit.
The Blue Devils now face a second down and three down inside.
The secondary is good enough for the blue to the first.
They push them.
Back.
We'll check the fourth progress on it.
They'll put them down near the 21 yard line all the time.
I guess I'm going to be calling Gavin McCullough's name all night long because he made another nice block just leading up the pipe, their 42 to 2 lead blocking.
You've got to be able to do that.
He blows it the linebacker out of the hole.
Even though he still makes a tackle, he gets a positive yards.
Keep the chain moving for four states ball.
So the Blue Devils pick up the first down.
Scoreless thus far and his for championship.
Game Oh it's a treat him as.
An additional coach.
Out on the field and there you can see him all rising at the line of scrimmage right side the rock over and near the 20.
Falls down near the 18.
And on that play they're number 45 for one Robert Antonio Field or he came in and just kind of he had a beer.
He just make sure that he didn't get blown out because they have been as running backs, taking on the linebackers and doing a very, very nice job so far.
But one of Robert's gets a chance to stop in for a short game.
Brown had it in the £85, 1 to 4 for 40 and will score from the left side.
Renfro looks for the block.
The pack puts his hand near the 15.
The defenders.
Tackles.
Lynn Big One thing that you're seeing tonight are two different two defense that were listed on the Warner Robins defense, a defense that, you know, they're quick, they try to run around a little bit, but Statesboro, to their credit, had been sticking to the blocks.
They have not been getting beat so far on this drive, not getting off them and staying on guys moving to pound.
That's what you want to stop that penetration and then let that hurt.
Running back play from the other side of the ball.
We talked about it prior to coming on air.
This was going to be a football game with Wales.
Both teams very effective.
Both can run their offense very efficiently.
It's just a question of who wanted it more.
Who would win that battle in the trenches.
Cohen's going to pass fire to that the sideline rock with the catch.
And he steps out of bounds near the five yard line.
So the devils surprisingly going to the air.
You know what?
It is surprising, I think even the folks here in the state have a shot to see that those states will kind of mixed up their offense a little bit, as I see it as a nice catch there to get the ball down there and inside to the five yard line.
But yeah, that's a nice change.
I like to see them.
I can see teams that they're not afraid to take chances.
Lot of what they're what they're used to doing cold.
The junior doesn't throw up much but they're on that play.
A perfect pass at the corner to Charles Rock Blue Devils now first and goal to go left side went low Touchdown Blue Devils Oh.
My goodness.
It's not.
An earthquake.
That rumbling here is maybe Jeff.
But you see here the offensive line.
They just stick on people and just move them out of it from the tackle to the center, they just open up that hole.
And I tell you what, they textbook drive.
You know, this is what Statesboro football is all about.
And they continue to do this.
It's going to be going to have a pretty tough and a quick game Saturday on.
A try to point after and Sanders misses a surprising miss by the normally accurate Zach Sanders from Statesboro all he was 34 of 36 prior to tonight's ballgame in terms of points after that there he missed.
Those are some 40 points here as you see here the lead block up there.
Look at that hole right there, Charles Lane, you could run again, you know, walk through the crowd.
You were talking about Gavin McCullough, the full fullback, and watch McCullough.
He's able to step through the hole, couldn't find anybody to.
Run into by the block.
So it's like, hey, follow me, right?
I'm going to tell you.
Where it is.
But yet that's what you want to have is an offense that is a confidence builder.
You know, they I'm sure with them looking at those plays in that series, they found they have a lot of things to choose from to maybe get them going in the rest of the game.
Blue Devil Scoring Drive 11 plays 84 yards, 338 off of the clock with low caps Keeps it off with the five yard touchdown run left side.
You got to get through to the officers.
No question about it.
And even the running backs are running hard.
The offensive line, they were they were sustaining blocks and staying off the blocks.
I was listening to some of the comments from the coach earlier on and so even some of the players and they were making that that very well known that we have to stick on blocks.
We can't not get on those guys and let them off because they're quick.
SANDERS Now we'll kick it away.
A sidewinder by Sanders is filled up by one of the up men.
For the demons is Dominique Davenport.
Davenport up near the 27 yard line, a two time Jim Ginn Akio at sideline Jimmy.
Charlie You know, this is what Coach Pennington was hoping for.
Run the clock, run the ball, keep the clock moving, keep the ball inbounds.
Went low and rock run it David Cone occasional passes and it worked to perfection.
Back upstairs the formula works for the Blue Devils on that possession.
Coach Pennington, you will never know it by that.
Look, we've got to be pleased about the performance on that drive.
The coaches love to look at.
Things are going here.
I don't know why they do it.
See, now Sanders and the demons back the other way.
They try to work at the left side, but the Blue Devil defense now starting to tighten it up in their bit out then Sanders on the carry on the to stop Brett Rodgers and the professor as you've named.
This that's.
Right Tommy Watkins a linebacker on the staff the state side down along that double sideline and they're only 30 they too happy about the early results under 5 minutes remaining in this quick moving first quarter from Womack Field for a championship state ball trying for their third and title most recent 2000 run right back to the line.
Rolls right out here comes the pressure on him and they get the sack down near the 23 yard line led by.
Three Tanner.
And I tell you, a routine ahead that snuffed out all the way.
He did a great deal.
I mean, you saw he showed so much muscle on that play.
There was no way the way that was going to work.
Great job there.
As you see the quarterback rolling out to the right, getting ready to set up for a pass three.
Tanner right there said nobody.
This is my pleasure.
He said all.
That said, Yeah, I'm sure he did.
This is my fault.
Tanner.
With the sack and make it third and 15 now for the demons.
Right.
We'll see if he passes in this situation straight right here comes the pressure to will blitz blitzing they got him behind the line of scrimmage.
Front for the Blue Devils Alex Daigle.
And Daigle.
You know, it was just a matter of time.
I was hoping to get ready to call his name tonight because here he shows here to another great deal.
The house he takes on, the center gets off the block.
That's what they need to do.
They stretch that all week long on defense, get off of the blocks, offense, stick to the guy.
And you see the eagle gets here, gets it was his first sack of the game and Warner Robins wanted to see how they were going to respond.
You know, with him scoring and the edge you see they get him with three and out.
Jake grabs now on the fun out away for the demons that cut it after the crabs got that one away who that was getting closer and closer angling right side and the return for the Blue Devils by where we are grabs it and goes out of bounds.
State ball was start from their own 42.
Jake we're on the dance off with it.

Wedeman looking for some room laughs.
Not a whole lot there.
Not a whole lot on that side.
But I'll tell you what, we're going to find out now what this Warner Robins defense is.
You know, they don't want to be on the field a long time.
Statesboro has a you know, that's their neck.
They like to stay on the field, body shots.
You give you body shots all the time and keep the defense aware.
Now, if Warner Robins expects to be in this game defensively, they're going to have to get on the field.
They can have these long drives and then they're off and go out and have a three and out.
Sweet Joe.
Frazier defense.
As we look at the total yardage situation, Blue Devils approaching 185.
Warner Robins only at eight surprise at this point.
By that two.
Second down misdirection on the inside that low was held from behind and they pull him down with about a half yard gain as a result, good surge up front by the demons.
And Justin Brown is the reason why.
Number 65 there for Warner Robins.
He gets across the line of scrimmage to disrupt that play and get those guys down in a third and long situation.
As you see him right there just getting his hand on enough him to slow it down and make sure the rest of his partners, his posse comes along, get it in on the action.
So that'll make it third down now has just and brown you take a look at his numbers on the season he's the stalwart for that demon defense 72 tackles ten of those four losses and four sacks and he is the leader for those demons up from.
Third down now big play for the demons and others.
Cold shut the fire.
It's at the corner right here.
This wind picked up.
The interception comes to Marcus Gray and the Blue Devils turn it over and the demons will have excellent.
Field position from.
The 45 on the first 100 red.
From the standpoint of the turnovers one Robin gets there on the.
Pass that went off of the receivers hand I believe as you see here.
Trying to get it to Grady Young out in the flats thrown high.
A little high.
And Morris Gray able to pull it in.
Let's take a good camera.
Look at that one.
As it was just out of the reach of Gray, he was able to tip it and hold it up in the air.
And Gray, the junior, able to come away with the interception.
And just get on the ground.
Now, Sanders going to take advantage of it and lunges ahead close to the first down.
Marker for the demons and they push it inside a blue devil territory.
Now, I'll tell you what, this is what these guys do.
Remember, 69 Crenshaw number 60.
Clark, when these guys cool, they take up space.
You see right there, those two guards there, plenty left.
They take up people, you see, and they just wall people off.
Clark did a great job.
I tell you, the Sanders game just an eyelash away from taking them to the house.
After he was hit with the football.
He just kept falling for it.
Got an additional four on the lunge head.
Second down and less than one for the demons on the ground.
Straight up the got nothing in front of him It'll be a touchdown for Kyle Hicks Hits broken right up the middle untouched 40.
Six yard touchdown.
Run What a way to respond.
This is what they need to do if they want to stay in this game.
They play offense.
They rely on big plays.
They're not a team that just takes the ball down.
Methodically like the like states will do.
They need to have big plays in order to stay in this game.
That was the first one for them.
And there's matter of fact, the coach from Stacy Robinson said we cannot allow to have big plays.
Well, one, Robert gets their first big one of the game.
Al Higgs, the 46 yard touchdown jump.
And Jake Brooks now on to try to give the demons their first lead of the football game.
Get it down blocked at the line of scrimmage Blue Devils got a hand in there and they block it So we remember.
Tied at six apiece Jarell.
And the special teams again what you would to call special teams because that's what they're about as you see the block here again here on that close up.
It looks like it was yeah for 48 for the Blue Devils Brady.
Brady Young gets his hands on their to to stop the extra point and you know that is what Statesboro does they have block about seven or eight or almost nothing left.
I think 11 it was 11 coming in.
We take a look at that Warner Robins drive to plays in the big 46 yard run by Kyle Hicks, less than 40 seconds.
That was the Blue Devils 12th block of the season, Gerald.
And it allows this ballgame to stay tied at six apiece.
Right now, you see right up here, you see never 61 there.
Warner Robins, the center.
Right.
That's because Roger Williams just wall off the guy and he hey, hey.
Well, you see nothing but fans over there and nobody there.
They're not going to come out there.
Exactly.
So fake getting the endzone.
You have to wonder, though, as you look at the scoring grab again for the demons, how much of that touchdown run by Hicks can you credit to the attention that was paid to Alvin Sanders because he because he hurt him on a couple of runs prior to that, probably.
About 90% because.
They have to keep the turnovers and he runs and they open up a nice hole there for them to take it for a touchdown.
The kick will come down to young John works his way past the Steelers deep nice second effort by Grady Young Young.
Up near the 33 yard line and the Blue Devil offense back to work.
Well, looks like it's starting to heat up out here.
And I think that, you know, just that effort right there, you saw by Grady Young that, you know, he was going to be denied.
He wanted to break one.
He wanted to get get some positive yards, a feel.
And he did that 91 right there for him.
Warner Robins almost had the tackle.
That was just a powered, but he could not pull it down and he needed some help from his friend Renee Young.
He started as a defensive back early in the season, convert it to offense at the wideout spot about six their seventh game into the campaign young trying to church on attention now to his football playing at the next level he's a senior it's trying to shine.
As much as he can here this championship ball games on the ground went low left side and runs into a.
Band of demons near the line of scrimmage.
And I'll tell you whether this is what it's all about.
You know, this championship time, we don't have anything to hold back out here, but they score.
We score whatever.
You know what our defense now, Warner Robins, is going to have to try to buckle it tightened up the tightening, the bootstraps up you want to call it, start playing tougher defense because you know what states were going to do.
They don't you know, I've been surprised tonight with the pass.
But you know what they do and what they do well that's grind it out.
Come at you with everything that they have.
And as I indicated earlier, body blows, perhaps our last play in the first quarter.
If the Blue Devils can get it off they face a second down and eight they do right side right.
Looking for some room at the sideline wrapped up and pull down near the 36 yard line pick up of about three on the carry about Charles Rock.
And that play will bring us to the end of the first quarter.
The end of the first quarter is just like we started.
We're tied six six.
After the first, we'll step aside for a break and come back with the second football backfield again.
Back Love had.
Warmack field second quarter cheerleading squad for the demons of Warner Robins, coach Stephanie Wade and the rest of the cheerleading group to cheer about thus far that side of the bout that six six tie ballgame after the touchdown.
Run by Kyle Hicks and they're the beatable to the cheerleaders coaches are indeed 30 yards away and.
They too excited about their six.
Points as we go back to live action with the rockets green out the flats caught it who.
Runs it for the blue devil first down up near the 46 all up.
His tackle as well.
You can see that stays where it is not going to.
They're not going to hold anything back tonight.
They say, hey, we have to pass the ball.
They're going to do it with the short passes or the long passes, whatever we need to do to loosen this defense up, that's what they're willing to do and certainly get themselves in in third and medium to long shot.
They're going to have to.
And I think that's a nice wrinkle for the state's real offense.
Looks first and ten for states for oh after the catch by Charles Rock.
Quinn right in front of the ground Blue Devils.
They give it to McCullough the full back McCollum may have gotten a yard perhaps to.
Joseph Wood over there for four one.
And Roberts came through nice, threw it on the defense.
It made a little shoestring tackle in there.
But, you know, again, they are going after they're trying to do everything they can to try to get this this one to rob his team loosened up here again.
But because it seems like to me after that touchdown, they kind of have some different things going there on defense to say, hey, you know, all right, we took some of their best shots.
Let's let's kind of mix this defense up and give them something to kind of go with three.
Them playing Terrence Jackson, the guard pulling.
In there between that three on the left side, dances to the corner Tyler defense.
Catches up with him but Webb low with a nifty move close to the first down marker.
Well you know what the coach is upstairs.
I have to give them credit for calling that play because you know what?
They don't.
Warner Robins had a guy who was playing off of the ball almost like in a flex position over there on their left side.
And, you know, states roll.
If you give them a head start running the ball, they're going to wait.
They're going to pick up some yards.
In that case, they picked up a first down from running there on on the left side, you see their offensive line there.
They're able to get a head start on these guys.
When you three or four, you got three yards off the ball.
That's kind of tough to stop a running play like that.
So head low thus far ten carry 65 yards, one touchdown already.
Five yard run first and ten from space for the right side.
Right.
Looking for a block at the corner.
Wrestle down to the ground.
Good defensive play by Antonio Felder, the junior for Warner Robins.
Yeah, but I think he got a little bit too a little too much action there as he may have got a facemask on that play as he was getting him down to the ground.
Made a nice play, as a matter of fact, to change the quarter.
He made a play similar to this.
But in this case, you see he grabs a little handful of the facemask.
That's a no no.
It's going to get some yards tacked on.
Now, either the five or the big time penalty there, just.
Felder on the season 49 tackles for those four losses and sorry six for loss and four sacks for the junior.
Would have had a nice play there for gain.
But now I guess it's up to the officials decide what they're going to do and see what state throws what to do with them.
So they're going to take the penalty at the end of the run.
Must unintentional you would think back to.
Back and man down on the deep fade mark five yard penalty line of one.
First down first down.
So that'll push the football up near the 37 yard line.
You look at Felder at the end of the play, clear shot over there.
Makes a nice play to get off of the block.
But they did do that.
Nice camerawork and great work in front of the tape to get a sack wet.
Low straight ahead for states wall falls ahead near that first down to.
Felder again when it seems that Warner Robins is in that position to where they were off the ball that time.
Joseph Wood was their number seven.
He was off the ball again.
So the coaches are saying, it looks like to me from up here, but they say, hey, when you see that we call it the bubble in the NFL and you look for the bubble and it seems like guys are playing off of the ball.
That's the bubble.
You so you attack them because you know what you're going to get some positive yards in there.
You know, when you when you line up and play this offense that they're playing, it's just, hey, go to the guy who's off the ball.
We got to run it.
Start.
Well, explain.
I think I like to beat him up here for.
So that's not just a blip here.
You look at this.
Stuff, you.
Suck it in.
All right.
Todd stumbles to regain his momentum.
They turn him in over in the rock.
Falls to the 25 yard line and another blue devil first down.
And another play on the edge.
For some reason, I think they feel like they can get outside of these guys and you see right there nice block by the running back to cut the laser out on a defender and you know what take a leap take he he's not down here that would have been an outstanding play because he was getting ready to run again.
But the officials quickly moved in and blew it down.
But hey, that's you need to have the extra effort by your running backs.
They're blocking well for each other right now.
They're continuing to move the ball.
I like what they're doing right now with the offensive you see right there tonight.
Charles Rock has eight rushes, 32 yards on the night already.
The junior is going to be back next year.
So rock starting to roll here and warming here.
You didn't start.
Numbers continue.
They go right side.
McCullough tries it close to the 21 yard line.
Stop by and just to get a running play there again, they're trying to grab the ball.
But just around that time, number 65, four, four, one, two, Robin said, I'm going to have none of this.
You know, I'm going to come in here, make a stop.
Somebody has got to stop this running backs who seem to be almost running out.
We'll hear four for Statesboro.
But 1/2 down play now for the Blue Devils.
Big man.
They're second and seven.
This is a situation coach hitting two and the blue Devils were concerned about all play offs long is being able to convert near the red zone and here they're just.
A little bit outside of the red zone.
But as the field starts to shorten that's going to be Denver's have had some trouble getting their offense off see how they perform here right side right runs into the.
Defense got it to the 20 down to the 19 stop made by Roderick Rose to sophomore defensive back for Warren Robbins.
He got off the block very, very nicely to get it on the tackle.
But you know what?
You have to watch sometimes the running backs may be a little bit overzealous to get the ball turned up.
If he were to hit, maybe you may have been able to get outside, but if he could have, he had one block of there.
McCullough was there taking the escort into the end zone.
Third down play now for State's Ball and a shot of Coach Kelly Tucker, the offensive.
Coordinator for the Blue Devils.
A big play coming up.
We'll look at the combined yards thus far.
Blue Devils overall, 100 yards.
Warner Robins at 61 and that's 61.
All on the ground outside.
Weddle is going to try.
They got a jersey on him.
They hold him and pull him down to home and out of scrimmage.
They got a good tight grip on that jersey.
Wouldn't let it go and have to bring up fourth.
Antonio Field at that time made up made him in for the play that he had early on with the facemask once through here and a nice play gets off the block here as you see that little bit of holding going on.
But you know what?
He didn't let that deny him.
He got through, got his hand on the jersey, held on enough to get it down and done it to a fourth down situation.
The state ball.
So Zach Sanders now will come on and try the field goal for Statesboro.
Oh, it'll be a 41 yard effort by Sanders.
His longest thus far is 39 on the season total.
Hold that snap.
He got an airborne though, but it was hit at the line of scrimmage.
The demons got a new non an ad blocking team and say we can play that blocking game too.
That's exactly what it's what you're seeing here tonight because both from a special teams standpoint has a very, very well-coached guys out there.
They go after the ball.
They're not afraid to make plays.
And as you see here, he kicked the ball and I believe somebody.
Yeah, somebody looked like we got their hand on that ball there.
And cause it to the tip then didn't get a chance to make the fourth.
So they get the ball on the turnover.
Special teams thus far a factor and just a great ball game shaping up here for moment 649 remains first half back to the inside Sanders looking for the corner I run the pursuit.
He does not may have gotten to Grady Young going both ways tonight.
Four states were all making the stop at the sideline.
And Justin Houston, who's also get over there, he made a nice play to get out there and not get beat outside.
He had to really get on the horse, as they say they got there to try to catch this speedster but great pursuit there by Statesboro and that's of the things I wanted to see if they could get outside to get this guy because we know what what he did last week at the Dome, you know, he had 66 yards rushing and you didn't want to see that tonight.
Indeed.
So single season rushing records last weekend settled down a heck of a lot of misdirection on the handoff on the inside.
Nobody's fooled as they used Sanders for a decoy.
They came back with the inside hand after Davenport.
And I tell you what, Reed Tanner, this kind of came in there and blew that play up.
He wasn't going to be denied either on there.
You you've got to be ready for this kind of stuff.
And it went it had so many different things that can happen, sort of these misdirection plays.
Now, this one where it looked like he was getting a hand out to go one way, hands off to another guy coming underneath.
But the state's real state at home, that's the same thing when you play against a weak team, you got to stay at home and guards alone.
This one's about field position.
Thus far.
A big third.
Down play for Warner Robins.
Third and eight, right.
Fakes it in line across the middle Got man wide open The catch made by.
Richardson Richardson to the 40 yard line and the demons.
Convert on the third down play they'll have first down Well I tell you what Zach Sanders they got back there excuse not to like Sanders but they caught up to the robins Mark Wright drops back for nice here gets set up gets plenty protection there from his offensive line and gives him time enough have to make that pass downfield and what a nice play there by Richardson number 81 for Warner Robins for.
The junior wide out with a nice grab first completion of the night on the right side Sanders looking for some room at the corner 21 would be TAPPER The sights his way up to the 45.
Again the pursuit pursuit is going to be important tonight here for Statesboro because they like to pull and what we it's a different form even some of the 20 it's a counter Trey trap and he couldn't get that time the state's he got some penetration which enabled him to get on his offensive lineman he was able to he was probably four yards behind him when in that case he wanted to be about two.
So they got great penetration there for someone outside.
Jon Nelson down at field level.
Malik, one of the biggest cheerleaders on this, Warner Robins sideline number one DART says Walker, the starting wingback injured his knee last week against Wear County, partially tearing one ligament spraining another.
Antoine Hamilton, number 28, getting most of the snaps in Dart Walker's place.
Dart has talked to Antoine before the game, tried to calm him down a little bit.
Dart has talked to me.
I asked him what he told him.
He said after his first lick, I think Antoine will be all right.
Back upstairs and.
A fake in the alley.
We talked about it off air with John.
John got the lead from Sanders on Walker that he was a missing piece of the puzzle prior to him really getting instrumental in that demon offense.
That's right.
So far, the puzzle hasn't been messed up as a result of being out of there.
They tied the ballgame at six apiece right now.
And we'll see what the absence.
For Walker means as this game continues to roll on.
Trying to run out the streak of Statesboro on the offensive line, whether it's right side or left side of the center, it's going to be very, very tough yards in there for it.
For Warner Robins says that's Kyle Hicks found out on that play.
Yeah, didn't want to try to make a play that time like the touchdown was, but not this time.
Stay throw, stay at home and plug it up.
They're very short yards, short game.
We talked about it in the pregame show.
Both teams very familiar with that state championship Blue Devils wanted in 2001.
They won another in 1990, making 66.
The Demons champions, the 76.
And one in 88.
On the ground like Sam Sanders, that's a.
Moon worked his way into the Blue Devils Secondary up near the 44.
Yard line.
I'll tell you what, they don't get a hold this guy, as I said last would get hold of in the east he's going to break Watson because you see here as again there are those two guys that leave the whole Crenshaw and Clark.
That's what they do.
And they do it very, very well.
And if he gets one, like we had to play a couple of plays, a little rest, I he was not close enough to make the cut.
They thought he was close enough to make the cut because it came through the hole and made a nice game.
First and two sounds straight ahead.
They go.
Sanders stays on the run.
He works his way into the secondary left side down near the 20 yard line, Grady Young with the touchdown saving tackle.
But now Tim Sanders with the work on one.
Hand to keep his balance, makes that play go bigger.
I tell you what this is.
This is what it's all about here.
You see again the full back and I believe that was Kyle hits that time on the run.
Correction.
And you know just a quick hitting play if you don't have the you have enough guys sometimes in the box that when the linebackers commit to go to the outside somebody needs to stay at home.
In that case, nobody was there.
He's able to pick up a big game.
Same play that they scored the touchdown and they run it quickly inside to hit this team.
Sanders is cool on him.
He's hit behind the line of scrimmage by Alex Daigle.
And the eagle gets there, he gets the penetration.
Get said, get off of the linemen That's what you have to do is Jeannette's interior linemen suck it down He didn't get himself caught there makes a tackle that was 20.
Two so eagle what the stop on Sanders second down and 12 now for the demons.
That's a good looking kid right there You know you can see what he has so much you can from up here.
You can tell he's got a.
Lot to draw on in that one.
It's going to be a good, good time player.
Just a juice 250.3 now.
Left side Sanders trying to find some room runs into DICKERSON once again instead.
Great job staying at home there by Newburgh at home for Statesboro again.
Now when you have a player who says shifty and it certainly could run around like like a Sanders kid, the thing about it, staying at home, don't let him fake you out to shoes.
The next thing you know, you look at it from the back side.
Third down nine now for the demons.
For both the ball at.
The 19 yard line of the Blue Devils.
Second and third down.
Conversions.
But starting on two of them demons, two out of four states for two of five right fakes along the line going out in the flats again the catch me by the big titan who go near the end zone.
Touchdown for the demons catch me by Larry Richardson the tight end.
When I tell you what one thing that the state broke and not allow.
Them to do is to that the quarterback, sit back there and throw the ball, even though they've been doing a great job against the run here, as you see here, Warner Robins quarterback Mark right step back 81.
Larry Richardson gets the ball here and makes a very, very nice play.
Run that hook play just go to sit down.
We're not trying to get him a big play.
Let him catch the ball, make something happen.
Grady Young, the defender on the play for the Blue Devils Campbell there comes up short transporting the ducks one blocked again Blue Devils got the pursuit and.
They knock it down at the line of scrimmage.
It's good.
I could see the problem from up here.
You know, they blocked two extra points.
Now there's no excuse for this.
You know, you look at what I was seeing that's on the guy on the in line.
He's taking the fall step outside.
I know that there are two guys over there on his side that you see here.
He doesn't really you take well, he's taken a step down inside, but he's not tight enough.
He lets a guy run around all that you have, dude, you sit there, you don't worry about that.
The guy on outside, you know, even though he stepped down and you went around him, what you have to do is get a little bit bigger split on the outside from from a tackle or at least guard over.
You don't want to be too wide because they come up the middle.
In that case, people could have pushed him out a little bit further.
Take a look at the touchdown catch by Richardson Grady Young gambling to knock it down wasn't able to do it so Richardson scores a touchdown But if there is some amends made by Grady Young it was on the point after attempt.
Young With the pursuit from the outside able to knock it down score now demons 12 Blue Devils six Number.
Two The kicker was even ready at the time.
It seemed like, you know, it took a long time for to get that ball down and get it up.
Scoring drive for the demons their second touchdown first half nine plays 80 yards, 4 minutes, 36 seconds off the clock.
Richardson with one big reception prior to the 19 yard touchdown grab.
To right on its Web logo for the Blue Devils Right side Red Lane looking to pack.
Near the throw big and the Blue Devils with 2 minutes 7 seconds remaining first half we'll come back on offense We'll see how they play the remaining two Jarell.
Yeah we're going to find out now what this offense can be able to do in sometimes in this type of an offense.
You know, it's not a it's not one that's really conducive to the time.
They only have about 2 minutes and 7 seconds left before they could hit plays.
Now We're going to try to see if they can match.
It with one.
And Robinson need to tie this game up at halftime.
We'll take the lead.
Oh, sit back.
A rarity for the Blue Devils.
They pitch it left side high and hard.
Left side falls ahead.
Four two usually tripped up in the backfield Finished off nicely by that team on defense left side.
I believe that was Quinn Hampton who was in there on that play.
I'm not sure the number, but again, they force it force of in there and it was Hampton they're coming up and forced to play back inside, which is what he's supposed to do.
You've seen here play it.
You got to get to get that play to turn back up.
Bryant Buford, finish that play off for the demons second and seven.
Now Oh play fake It comes to pressure Pull across the middle and incomplete.
Intended for a rock who was circling across the middle out of the backfield up and the cone leading him too far.
Well, I'll tell you what, I like the plays that they have, and I like the plays in states where they're running from a passing standpoint, Cohen has just got to hook up with his players.
He's overthrown a couple of balls.
In that case, he led the receiver too far and high.
So if he connects, they have some good things going here.
On the passing game.
It's just a matter of him just hooking up and making the plays happen.
Third down now for Statesboro.
You 37, straight drive looking, going up top, trying to get some separation for a young pass batted away.
Good defensive work in the secondary for the demons by Rafik McKenzie his senior year Kinsey step for step four Grady Young and the blue Devils will have to kick.
It away from an indifferent for the devils number 49.
Rounding up his number 11 boys play.
On the replay was great now with the coverage for the demons and now Gray will stand deep to receive the punt three with good defensive coverage on Grady Young high snap round out of the way that they typically know he got it away.
Barely did he get it away gray with the grab he gets on the left side may have something but the devils forcing the fumble the football it's loose down near the.
26 yard.
Line.
Let's check it out.
He has the ball.
So the Blue Devils come away with the turnover football in the play gray.
Was trying to make the return left side and somebody hit him and he forced it out of there.
Well, I thought that, you know, he had something going if he could have gotten around that whole wave of players, but not quite able to do that.
As you see here, he gets the ball, starts to his left and one Robin gets ready to go back to the side.
I believe that.
Was number Grady Young again.
It sure was.
And they come away with the ball.
This is a big play.
I was beginning I was going to say, you know what, this could be a dangerous situation for for Statesboro, because, you know, they were going to try to go for the endzone.
And, I mean, why not?
You know, they still had over a minute and something left to go before the half.
Before the half.
So the first turn or over the ballgame for the Demons gives the Blue Devils a chance right before halftime with a minute eight remaining.
Let's see if they can make something happen here.
You know.
As a tune in the GPB.
Georgia Broadcasting commemorates the 75th anniversary of a Fox Theater with a multimedia initiative that includes two GPB Original Productions, radio specials and an extensive website.
The history of the entertainment icon, the fabulous Fox and the behind the scenes special.
This old movie, Palace Fixing the Fox, airs December 7th and and on Christmas Day exclusively on GPB.
Great place to go Fox bucks the interview.
I tell you when I got here in Atlanta, back in my early days, it was one of the best places to go and watch a show and see a play or whatever.
And still.
Right.
No question about it.
Can't wait to check that special out on GPB as well.
Like a win.
I mean, as a family now and I'm not talking about you now, you know, as a date.
No, I'm just not like our eyes locking you or whatever, you know, want is as a family.
I gotcha.
The first and for the Blue Devils on the ground here right side window looking across the room, cuts it back to the inside.
Work to the head for three, perhaps for stay tomorrow.
And I'll tell you what they look like.
They're trying to go for something here but I to number 40 Roger rolls over there for Warner Robins just totally you know, just played off blockers and it was able to make a big play there.
And you see now that stays frozen.
Kind of a hurry up situation with 46 seconds left.
Before halftime, cold shut on time for the hitch pass at the corner, threw it out of bounds.
Grady had suckle to the inside cone threw it outside that'll make it third down for states for only 40 seconds remaining.
But it was a smart play, though, you know why?
Why, you know, take a chance and possibly throw the ball into coverage, even though I don't I don't know if it was a, you know, the route he broke off at the wrong side, but still just more out of his pocket.
And another thing you got to consider here, the Blue Devils don't have to really gamble too much here.
They could at least come away with three points and a field goal.
This is well within the range of Zach Sanders.
You don't want to give that up.
More action coming your way in the five eight championship.
At 6:00 tomorrow on GPB, it'll be the Vikings, a round hosted by the Panthers, the Parkview Cool.
Trying to set the screen over center.
They do.
The red line went low Right side's got to move to the inside bang down near the ten yard line basket and an.
Excellent play call by the Blue Devil coaching staff.
Now, that'll be first down.
I like it.
You know, that's it.
That's just the safe play to make, you know, why try to get the ball downfield as you see here.
That was nice touch my call.
You know, that's tough pass to make when you have a defender right in front of your face who can jump up and maybe take the ball away from me.
As you see there, they get a nice play down here to the ten yard line.
Excuse me about.
Yeah.
By the ten yard line there for Statesboro.
So I like to call.
In on the night, three of nine for 32 yards, no completion.
More important than that last one, Georgia salute for the Blue Devils.
Got that one interception.
You know, even though he has one interception, what one thing I like to see them is to continue to give him passes to build his confidence.
You know, he missed some early, whether they were high or one that was tipped.
You know, it wasn't his fault on the interception.
But you know, if he can get some plays that you see Bryan way there in 13.1 his first year Warner Robins coach but you know if they could give some passes to them to call and let him build some confidence, and I think that will help them out throughout the rest of this game with some sporting.
Goods offensive coordinator Kenny Tucker.
And in that huddle, big play here for Statesboro are a big possession here with less than about 33 seconds remaining first half, we're facing the possibility of maybe giving up another score to the demons before the break.
Now, the Blue Devils with a chance to bring this ballgame at least two, even if they can score a touchdown.
Well, that's true.
And, you know, I'd like to say it is a big play because they don't want to go into halftime, you know, squander it on an opportunity.
They have to get something out of this, whether three points, hopefully.
I'm sure they do.
You know that in the best will they would want the touchdown.
So cold and the blue devils to the line.
Of scrimmage they can get a first down before touchdown called right side fires but he threw it out of bounds.
Trying to get it outside to nick wedlock.
And again, that's what I mean about confidence builds you know passes like that you have to complete because it'll to work on his psyche you know he gets out there and he throws a couple of those and he, you know, he throws in bad or or he overthrows him or whatever he may do.
If he doesn't connect, it works against him.
You know, he gets uncertain about it as you see here.
Step back.
He's all set up, prepare for it and throw it in.
He really I think he just missed the throw.
Nobody tipped the ball or whatever.
And he they've got to connect on those to help him out later on.
In the game.
Second down in ten states for the slightest to the right of Cole so drop hits pass out with the rock with the right side of your head inside of the five down.
Near the three they'll stop the clock momentarily tackles led by number and a timeout taken by the Blue Devils with 23 seconds remaining first half.
A good safety and one in which he did.
He saw that he had his defender off of him third down and Rock was able to get the ball down there to tie those states.
But the five yard line, that was a very safe place.
And again, a good look for the quarterback because he looked over, he saw that everywhere.
He could take advantage of it and that's what he did.
So the Blue Devils burned their last time out of this first half, 23 seconds remaining, third down and two for the first down.
And gentlemen, let me.
Remind you that we do have concession stands set up at both ends.
And we don't score we don't score a touchdown.
Bound to give us down the field goal.
We'll have a timeout.
I hear the coaches down there say they don't want to call a timeout.
But again, do they have a timeout?
This is what.
Had the initial indication on the scoreboard here.
Well, next year that we were out of timeouts, but Coach Tucker, obviously under the impression that he left, he was the one that really mattered.
So here come the Blue Devils.
Now, 23 seconds left.
They face a third down and three.
Boo on the ground went low left, soft backs inside.
And he said, you'll give and no, they'll put them down outside of the.
End zone and perhaps outside of that first down marker as well.
It may come down to a fourth down play here, Gerald.
Well, I'm trying to see because they can actually still get a.
First and they.
Can and I'll try to see if if officials are going to mark, if it's worth marking or not look like it is.
So the Blue Devils with timeout remaining they take one they're on the left side Whitlow following the blocks and McCullough the full back all back running back to the inside tackle made by Brian Buford, the linebacker.
Buford and friend Chris Styles.
And also on the tackle.
And you see that they're short for that and it's fourth down.
Boy, I tell you what, if I go, I take the three and don't go to lockers, but you know, why why get to make that with the ball?
I mean, I know that they run tough.
They do a lot of things, you know, you say, well, hey, we can fall for a yard or two yards.
I take the three of you.
They were in the same situation in the quarterfinal ballgame against Tucker where they were down near the goal line and they went on fourth and didn't get it in for the touchdown.
Then we'll see how the Blue Devils play it here.
And Womack surprised by you on that one, Gerald?
Not that would put that football into the hands of one of the running backs to get this first down.
If it were a first down, I would, but it's fourth down.
They don't get it.
They turn the ball over, they come out with nothing and I'm sure that, you know, you're going to see a lot of a lot of the slants and stunts and all that sort of stuff that, you know, that these teams both can do.
They both just play against the league team.
All right.
So nothing.
It's not in secret.
Nothing out here.
What's going to.
Run?
Just going to be a matter of which if they don't have the right play on the night, perhaps a long snap count by the Blue Devils up front.
We'll see Cole in states for fourth down less than one for the first.
Down about another yard and they get the touchdown on the ground.
The red light went low bangs touchdown So they run it left side Blue Devils stick with got with what got him here on the ground Webb.
Low for six now.
Even though I might say you know that's that's why I'm up here but I saw the foot and I feel like it's a it's a great call, you know, for Statesboro.
They get the touchdown going here.
Now, hopefully they can either take a lead or go in tied up.
So Sanders now on to try to point after.
You have not had one convert it thus far tonight coming river get it up airborne and Sanders drives it through and the Blue Devils reclaim the lead.
Over the demons.
And you know what a great series for them that is a big boost for them going in here at halftime.
But, you know, special team wise, we better make sure that we go in still with this one point lead instead of being situation where they bring a big kick or something.
You don't want to see that from Statesboro.
We love to see it up here for the action with Statesboro.
Don't want to see that.
13 seconds remains first half.
So the Blue Devils take advantage of a turnover and they take the lead.
That was a big drop.
That was a big of the big turnover, first of all.
And then states were being able to take it down and score.
Blue Devils five plays, 27 yards over a minute 8 seconds Devils Big Bledsoe from two yards out 17 Brandon And it's given the Blue Devils to lead the in the football game Sanders So now Sanders will kick it away and we'll see if the demons how they elect to play these remaining seconds Sanders likely to kick this football.
Line drive but that is speculation and he does this.
On the surface blue devils charging out it is still rolling around and now it goes airborne and kicked out of bounds.
It'll stay with the demons.
We believe there's a coach is over there.
Probably following the ball.
Let's not try to pick it up or whatever.
Let's get this ball down here so we can get out of here.
You see them?
There's a little this little squib kick, you know, just something to the get the ground so everybody will get down in there.
You see right there the player for Warner Robins tips the ball did get it down that's that's that could have been disastrous for Warner Robins maybe giving him another opportunity to kick a field goal.
Such a small object because it's so much.
That ball will drive you crazy.
But first and ten for the demons they're set to take the knee on it right gets the snap and he will do that thanks to the demons showing here that they're content to hold it at a one point deficit.
After the turnover late in that first half and the Blue Devils capitalizing on it.
Going down the score, they lead it 13 to 12 going in at halftime.
We have a ballgame here, that's for sure in this case.
Jim janaki is standing by with coach steve pennington.
Jimmy.
All right, thank you, charlie.
Coach, your thoughts first half?
Well, there's a heck a football game like we thought it was going to be.
We came in to try to eliminate the big plays and double going and they didn't hit us right up the shoot that when one big play and then we also came in the game trying to stop the run and they hurt us with two big passes.
So they're executing but we have moved the ball back.
It's a great football game right now.
The school, the ball control early, going to go deep.
We got to keep them all this time.
Feel it, then make a difference.
Who has the ball?
They got action, speed going second half.
Coach, thanks for joining us.
Let's go back upstairs to Charlie and Journal.
Thanks, Jim.
At the intermission, a close one here for the 4/4 state championship, 13 to 12, it's the Blue Devils leading the demons of Warner.
Robins will step aside for a timeout.
We'll come back with the halftime festivities for more backfield.
Featured signal caller killing bear.
This time I don't.
And welcome back to Womack Field where State Girl has the halftime lead over Warner Robins 1312.
Let's enjoy the halftime festivities and the Warner Robins marching band.
That coach T-Bone.
To one of Robins marching band.
Now here's Jon Nelson.
Johnny.
Thank you.
Gee, it's Friday.
It's the for a championship.
His name's Monday he's the principal Steve Monday.
Good to see you.
I thought you might like that.
I appreciate it.
Now, a couple of things I'd like to talk to you about.
Some of the fans who are watching here in Statesboro.
Let those who are watching on television at home, might have been looking at hats and visors and helmets.
And there's a J.S.
on the side.
Talk about what Coach Summerall meant to your community.
Words cannot express enough what Summerall meant to us.
He came from high school in 1966 after winning a state championship in Thomasville, and prior to that, we had had eight consecutive losing seasons.
Coach Thurmond took one year and built us into a winner, and that's really where we're on.
His high school football started.
He hired Coach Ogle, and after Coach Ogle, he hired Coach Davis from there, three state championships and 37 consecutive winning seasons.
And, you know, he was an administrator, a friend, a mentor to a lot of these coaches, house to county in the state.
And let's take it that next step.
Coach Summerall and the relationship he has with the guy who's been an assistant 21 years here was an offensive lineman when he was in high school.
Coach way What is Coach Way meant to the community?
Coach Once again, he's cut from the same old as Coach Summerall, just a quality person.
Coach White was our star teacher last year, so he does things not only on the field you see tonight, but also in the classroom as well.
He leads by example.
He surrounds himself with very good assistant coaches.
And like I said, he's an example and a mentor for all these young men out here tonight.
Talk about what life has been like at Warner Robins this past week, knowing that you're going to be playing for a state championship.
It's been hectic.
We've played all our state playoff games at home, except for the Dome, of course.
And then tonight, we're traveling to Statesboro.
It's been wonderful.
The community's been behind us.
Our teachers, our faculty and everyone's been behind us, you know, 100%.
And hopefully things will turn around a little bit here in the second half.
But it's been a good week.
The students have been excited.
We've kind of kept them in their routine.
Coach Blazer They did better routine and we had a little bonfire last night and a pep rally today, but we have a lot of support here.
We brought over 4000 people to the dome.
So it's been an exciting Time Warner Robins High School and we'll hope the exciting time continues in the second half as well.
Many thanks for your time.
Thank you so much.
Let's send it right back to Jim.
All right.
Thank you.
John and I have a special guest, Senator Jack Hill, from the fourth District.
Senator, what a great night of football.
He beat 13 to 12 at halftime.
Great game.
Great game.
What do you think about the coverage here on Georgia Public Broadcasting and what does it mean to the state and the students all across Georgia?
Well, I'm always a great advocate for what you're doing because the championship games are almost anticlimax to the tremendous weekend that you all had last weekend.
And it we have such a huge state.
I think it brings our state together around something that's pretty common.
That's football.
And it really gives, I think, some inspiration, the young people around the state to work hard and kind of earn that trip to the dome every year.
I know you're from Reidsville and here we are in Statesboro for a championship game.
What do you think it does for the community here in Statesboro?
I mean, it's amazing how everybody pulls together the traffic jam in a small town like this.
And it's for a Friday Night Football game.
Absolutely.
And you know, we're Statesboro is known for Georgia Southern.
But the truth is flags were high as a proud tradition of a championship caliber football.
And this is a football town, there's no.
Doubt about it.
All right, Senator Jack Hill, thank you so much for joining us here at the half.
Thank you all for being here.
We appreciate it very much.
And thank you for everything you do for the citizens of Georgia.
Thank you so much.
Okay.
Thank you, Senator Jack Hill.
All right.
The halftime festivities roll on.
It's the state's bro marching band on the field right now at Womack Field five.
And welcome back to Womack Field halftime festivities roll on Statesboro leads Warner Robins 13 to 12.
Here's the Statesboro marching band.
Then the Red Light joins the a marching band.
Statesboro Marching Band.
And now I'm with these states for a quick vote.
Ernest Dupree.
Ernest, great night for State Barrow, Ohio.
Oh, Jim, it's an absolutely beautiful United States barrow.
And we're proud to welcome Warner Robins, the stable.
Coach Pennington, quickly on his quick turnaround here at Statesboro.
First year coach.
Steve has done an excellent job for us, Steve.
He's a great guy, a great coach, and we certainly appreciate the work Steve has done with his coaching staff.
How about the community coming out for this big game?
Oh, the community has truly supported us and we truly appreciative of it.
7000 people here at the stadium.
You ever think you'd see the day?
Oh, absolutely not, Jim.
That's certainly been a challenge for us all this week of preparing feel for tonight but it looks like athletic director in our system.
Staff have done a great job for us.
All right.
And now the second half, I mean, more of the same, I hope, right?
Absolutely.
Jim, we've got to come out of this on top.
Okay.
As one of the questions for you, as far as the championship game, I mean, this is I mean, they were here in 2001 and the championship game now 2004.
I mean, this got to be a great thing for the community.
Oh, absolutely.
Jim, I our kids this week have been off in wild, wild with excitement thought.
Without a doubt, Lou.
They've had a great week.
Okay.
Thanks so much for joining us here at the half.
We appreciate all the hospitality here in Statesboro.
Jim, we certainly appreciate you guys as well.
All right.
We get ready for the second half kickoff between state's borough and Warner Robins.
We send it upstairs to Charlie Warren.
Charlie.
Thanks, Jimmy.
At the end, intermission mission Blue Devils leading it 13 to 12 over the demons of Warner Robins.
Take a look at the Blue Devils headed back to the field here at Warmack Field.
A good set for the second half, but the first half we have highlights coming from that first half and let's take a look at them.
Things started out for the Blue Devils just the way that they wanted it.
They went to the left side.
Nick Whitlow from five yards out.
And the Blue Devils had the first lead.
Of the ballgame.
They wanted more.
They went up top.
Cole tried to get it to Young, but it was picked off by Maurice Gray, and.
The demons were in business for Warner.
Robins.
On the ground, they give it up, the middle count hits.
He's untouched.
46 yards later.
We're tied at six apiece here and it's quite a championship.
But on the point after a tip, Grubbs got it airborne, but it was blocked.
By the Blue Devils up front, as they do so often.
Now back the other way.
It's kind of.
Rob Richardson of Larry Richardson on the touchdown grab for the Demons 19 yard touchdown play and there again on the point after attempt by Grubbs Blue Devils block it at the line of scrimmage this the biggest play of the first half changed the direction of the ballgame Great fumbles near the 27 yard line Corey Rushing falls.
On it with about a minute remaining.
The result Reed on his left side Whitlow touchdown.
And the point after conversion Blue Devils lead it now 13 to 12 at the break with a fine performance in the latter part of that first half turnover special teams for the Blue Devils playing a big part of it Jarell as we take a look at first half.
Stats and you look up and down the stats here, it is pretty much an even game with exception of the way the one part where the turnover are the fun, but you see their passing yards, you know, 41, 36 rushing yards, 100 to 722 for Statesboro, total yards 143 to 163 in favor of Statesboro.
But again, the the one touchdown, the one fumble that that one Robbins gave up on the punt is really the difference the game, because Statesboro was able to go down with a minute eight and scored.
Whitlow with 78 yards in his first half two touchdowns.
13, 12, Blue Devils.
Lead it.
We will step aside for a timeout.
We'll come back to start the third quarter with just 24 minutes remaining.
Blue Devils leading it 13 to 12.
Let's go to John Nelson before we get started.
Second half Nelly.
Here with Coach Wayne.
Let's talk about the running game a little bit.
You know, they key on out and you get Kyle free, right?
Yeah.
I mean, we got we got two or three pretty good football players running back.
And I thought we did a pretty good job moving the football on the ground.
We had some good games and a couple of big runs and we just need to keep doing that and stay what we do best.
And special teams, blocks of plenty in the first half.
I mean, we hadn't had a patty blocked all year and then they blocked too and it's good executing on that guy blocked it off the corner both times.
We got it.
We made adjustments to field goal extra point team a half and hope straighten that out.
Coach White, thanks for your time.
Let's send it back up the second half, Charles and Gerald.
Thank you, John.
We get set to start the second half, coach.
We got to be disappointed about the latter minutes of that first half.
Gerald pretty much had things where they wanted it going into the break and it's a different psyche going in trailing as opposed to leading by a point or.
Two, no doubt about it.
And I think with the going at halftime, with having the lead would have been great, would've been big and one from us but instead now I think Statesboro comes out with a little bit of momentum here in the second half.
Now we talk about it time in and time out play off long this possession, the first win of that second half is the big one here at Warmack Field Blue Devils.
They won the toss early on.
They elected to receive the football.
They're kicking it away to the demons.
Demons need to have a good showing on this drive.
It sets the stage, no doubt about it.
And to see if one or Robinson come out now and maybe jump on them, if they can do that, then it would probably put this game back in check.
From the standpoint of Warner Robins being able to make some things happen and getting Statesboro out of that momentum.
Sam Sanders with Sanders would kick it away and Malcolm Sanders as well allows Brandon Anderson to feel that at the five Anderson walking into the middle of the field, hit runs hit twice in the air.
Asselin Down to the ground.
Near the 15 beautiful job with an 8.50 Ethan Wilkerson, the junior defensive back on the tackle for Statesboro on special teams.
Made a couple of big plays, made a couple of big plays last week in the Dome with an interception and a fumble return.
Indeed he did and makes a big tackle there on Anderson for the Blue Devils Demons first and ten the ball from your own 16 yard line.
Arc right under center on the ground, left side.
Working ahead to Sanders.
Sanders pushing the pack near the 19, the clock.
Coming back out, trying to reestablish themselves on the run.
That's what one around is going to have to do.
But you see their number 22 in there.
Creighton Wilkinson gets it on the tackle screen.
This was the one after Sanders.
You know, he's been pretty much maintaining that, you know, he hasn't really hurt them and made many big plays.
But you better believe before it's over with, they don't pay attention to it.
He could step up and make a big play.
So right now they have him in jail.
Second down and seven for the demons just underway.
Third quarter right on the ground.
That's such hard hitting.
Going in there.
They spin around the carry by picks for the demons.
And Leroy Arthur is that tell you what got there with a little bit of attitude because he got off the block here and you know we're watching him as they were coming out playing with a he had a nice back on icepack on his back which indicates that he was a little bit banged up maybe the first half.
But as you see here, he comes off the line, gets rid of the out, the lineman steps in there for the big play, big hit for Statesboro.
Oh, that's a big time play there by Etheridge at the defensive end spot.
He's ready.
He's he's ready.
Even though he was a little mixed up, probably at halftime.
Look at it.
He's ready.
He's pumped up.
This is what it's all about.
It's now never been third down for now for the team.
Best direction to go Whiteside Sanders Not a whole lot of room in there Devil.
Stop him after about a yard pickup That'll make it fourth down So the demons appearing to go three and out.
And that was our man.
He comes in there on a nice play, running down the line of scrimmage here.
I tell you, he's been up, he's been making some nice plays all night long.
He gets off the block here, gets in there, wraps up.
One thing I can say about the state's brutal players.
They're good tacklers.
They get to the point of attack and they ramp up and they take it down.
That's good coaching.
And those guys, they're players who willing to do the little things to be looked to be.
Better gloves on now to put it away for the demons.
This is at the line of scrimmage and.
It looks like Warner Robins kind of got them at their own game right there, knowing that they're probably going to try to go after the kick one.
Robin gets them to jump offsides and they don't really need it.
What about four yards?
Well, five yards on the play for the offsides.
Tony Watkins, that defensive leader for the Blue Devils, upset with his gang of devils for jumping.
That gives the demons a first down penalty.
Now that ball foul encroachment defense.
First down you know, that kind of worked against them because you know everybody knows and they've watched states on the year no that their special team in particular the punt coverage they get after people.
They will come and block a kick so the demons with a fresh set of downs in a slot to the left or right on the ground place, it's going to go option, right?
Keep it himself.
Got it to the 30, maybe a yard on the pickup that.
Was led by Brendan Rodgers.
Coming sharks out of the field and an update from the class a championship in the second quarter Clinch County leading it now over Hopkinsville 14 to 7.
Hopkinsville had a lot of that first half seven nothing to clinch for a couple of touchdowns in the second quarter to take the lead.
Another tough game tonight.
The demons second and eight.
On the right side.
Sanders looking for a block slotted back.
To the inside past the line of scrimmage falls ahead for about two.
I tell you what, Corey, rushing on that play just did a nice job of getting on a center and driving him down the line of scrimmage, never letting him get get, get to push him back across the line of scrimmage, which because of that, Sanders had to stop from going outside, try to turn that thing up.
Great job, McCoy.
Rushing there for state.
Third down play now Sanders on the night 45 yards and 12 carries the demons face of 30.
Seven from their own 31 this direction they keep it now it's going to go up top got to be wide open downfield that's going to be made by Hartwell pump go streaking Whiteside down inside the ten near the four yard line Big play there for the demons And you know what that was one of those plays again with a run has set the pass.
They continue to try to make sure that that one.
Robins don't beat them on the run.
And here they were able to get behind the defenders and make a very, very long there.
How did he get so wide open?
What he would he does one of those things was just a mental mistake.
And but they're costly in a game like this.
Certainly that big play for Warner Robins there as they're down inside the five yard line.
Jason Hargrove, the tight end.
I want to refresh your memory.
We were talking about this prior to coming on the air, that because of the attention paid to the running backs for the demons, the tight end would be a big factor in this contest.
Right.
And certainly, as you see in here, four receptions, 149 yards.
On the season first and goal the goal for the demons on the left side.
Sanders tries it, but denied by a legion of devils.
They really clogged that up there nicely, knowing that in this particular situation they have to get after them and stop them.
Hopefully maybe holding on to a field goal.
They would like to do that.
I'm sure.
STATESBORO But yes, but talk about what what you're saying really about the tight end.
You know, we hadn't gotten into it yet, but that was one of the things that they wanted to do against the states.
Brodie should be able to get downfield, get into the seams, and that time of tight end got the ball with nobody looking at him.
They were basically.
Focusing on the run.
It was Hicks on the previous play for the Demons second down goal to go in and bring in a big fullback on the ground, give it the same spins, likes off one tackle, flags tossed in.
Didn't break the plane but will check the flag out.
Could be a facemask down there, Gerald.
Well, I'll tell you what, tough yards down there.
That's that's a place down there where.
Hey.
Yeah, only the men can survive.
They'll go in there if you don't.
You don't want Nunn.
Don't go in there.
Flags on the play opportunity.
It will be against the Blue Devils.
To move out of SA.
Concern.
Coach Pennington looking in on that prior to the call.
This could be big down there for for states but everyone around the ten.
Minutes and five yards by smart building on the defense repeater down second.
Down so it will be second and goal to go down for the demons after the assessment against Statesboro.
Right to the line of scrimmage the crowd I'll tell you what happens on the play.
No signal now.
There is no way they will be able to bring Buddy then.
That's what they do that signature play down there.
Well, they have the they hit the 69 and 60 the on court, pull over there and do the block down and kick out.
That's exactly what they did there.
And that's like that's the bread ball that's been working for them all night long.
Why not running down the goal line?
So Sanders converts on the touchdown run for the Demons.
Demons on the touchdown.
And now we'll see what they do.
They're going for two, one, two.
After the missed opportunities early on in terms of points after.
Well, you.
Know, you've got to start factoring in, you know, if this team is able to stick with you, jump the gun, what are you going to do?
You've got to do something a little bit different.
I on the ground right side Sanders to get back to the inside the convert on the two what I say that that was a great way to play again Sanders gets a nice run there with a nice block of him by by Crenshaw and 4 to 4 over there the two guards for the for one Ted Robbins they kid they've had a problem with that play all night long and they continue to.
Run it here as they get the two pointer.
While we start out this game in good shape.
It was starting its second half as well as we take a look at the touchdown run right side by Sanders.
Talk about Crenshaw and Clark pulling into that hole.
Sanders has to follow that for the touchdown.
And here they are again.
As you see, six and nine.
They're the block.
They're rolling off.
And then Crenshaw and Clark both again leading up there.
Sanders, you know, he benefits from having two very, very stout and very tough offensive linemen.
He Says the touchdown run again for blocks and the offense they get.
They stop the penetration and they know that's what that's going to play out.
They're successful.
They can they can do that.
They will make it happen.
BROOKS Demons on the scoring drive.
They do what they need to do coming out of the break, nine plays, 79 yards, 4 minutes, 39 seconds on the drive capped off with the one yard touchdown run by Alton Sanders.
And the big play down here from Hargrove, the tight end, which, you know, we were going to get into a little bit as as the game went.
On, but certainly big fans are looking for UPS to kick it away.
Now Wardlow suffers at the five.
He squeezes.
Walks it little other good red light.
Now back to there that's got some movement.
Cruz has low pueblo on his feet Whitlow inside the 40 down at the 33 yard line A 60 yard return by Nick Whitlow and.
Just like that the Blue Devils are right back.
On top of it.
And that's why he got to go for that two pointer, because, you know, Statesboro is not going to sit back and wait.
As you see, Whitlow gets the ball here.
He no, it just hits it.
That's all you have.
Hey, you got to put your foot on the gas there and make something happen.
You make the kicker miss.
And hey, if somebody's going to catch you, then he's going to have to get on his chance to do it.
But a nice return there for Statesboro.
Morris Gray with the touchdown saving.
Tackle Pedro got the return exit at the line of scrimmage.
That was Charles Rock.
And Rock was rocked at the line.
Yeah good defensive stop by the team.
As you can see dropped it like it's hot because 65 came in there.
Justin Brown It just totally blew that plea up.
All of one brings it up.
Second down in the Lone Man Rock following the two running backs into the hall.
But Brown just denying any kind of movement on the play.
Second down rattler will try.
The left side if he trips ahead near the 30 yard line, he'll make it third and about five for State's Ball.
And I think Statesboro now starting to you know, we've got to go back and do what we what we've done.
We can't let them take this out of our game, regardless of the score right now, we're going to look good up on the line of scrimmage.
We're going to look for that ball.
We're going to look for that soft part of that soft spot in the defensive line.
And we're going to try to exploit it.
That's what they do and that's what they go to the team trying do.
Looks like the.
Demons have reclaimed the lead.
They lead a 2213 devils face a third down and five left side.
Weber waiting for the pointer, now steps to the inside and runs into a wall again.
Demons were ready for it at the corner.
He had a nice surge led by Hampton.
The senior linebacker.
They had quite a few over there.
I could tell you it didn't really make a difference because all of them did one thing well.
They held their ground.
They did not get forced to push back.
And as a result, now they have a fourth down situation.
You've got to see what what state schools made over here, because there's a fourth a short but do they try to go and maybe get them to jump offsides at this time?
Yeah, we'll see if they actually try.
That on a long count.
Well, payback.
Yeah.
This will be the big payback variable to do that.
But the Blue Devils face a fourth in 200 mobilizing after a gut check time in the center.
Flags at the line.
That's the movement up front.
It wasn't a long count.
Maybe a delay, a game against the Blue Devils.
We'll check it out.
That's the initial call from the back, judge, that the Devils were guilty of a delay.
Yeah, that meant ball, you know, and the coach has to be real upset with that.
I'm sure that he did not.
Want that to be the case.
They felt that they could line up and get it.
But you know what?
Sometimes you've got to get the play in, you've got to get it in and let them call it or whatever.
I know that he wants to do get them offsides but.
That ball foul delay a game the offense the five yard penalty steal fourth down down.
You got to get that play as I was getting ready to say you cannot let yourself get in that position where they have to either maybe change the play or whatever because now puts him in in fourth and long.
Indeed, you're right.
We'll look.
Back on it in terms of the Warner Robins possession, the offsides.
Play by the Blue Devils defense.
Help them.
We'll see what this does this facility does with the offense.
Fourth and seven.
The blue devils going for cold play, fake rolls, right side fires.
It's batted at the line of scrimmage and the demons have held on defense.
They got it up in the air.
Somebody stuck an arm up there and knocked it down.
I thought it was maybe brown again.
Number 65 over there.
Did you write.
To Mr. Brown again?
I think he got his hand up in the air, got penetration again, and was able to knock that ball down.
That's a knock.
Are there Blue Devils with two penalties, one defensively, one offensively taking them out of the sequence momentarily.
We'll see what the final impact is of that.
And I call that for the second half.
That's the first first play right there to say, you know, that we're right.
They're going to look back on that drive.
It may be the difference maker in this game.
After the defensive stand.
The demons come back on offense on the ground.
Straight ahead.
They would have sex with the football.
Hicks may have gotten New York perhaps too.
Well, he didn't get too many because.
Tommy Watkins close on that one pretty quick.
He's going to declare that they both got up to the right there.
They know what they did.
You've got to continue to try to go.
And what what Statesboro doesn't do well, which is some of the plays they get out, they get outside, stretch them out a little bit.
You know, they have some good athletes.
They may not be as talented as so many teams that win amounts of space.
But they're very tough.
Second down the left side, SANDERS Looking good.
Something that I've.
Watched here near the 36 yard line.
All the boy, the Blue Devils, you talked about it earlier.
They didn't they do not miss on tackles.
No, they're very good tacklers.
And I'm sure that that Sanders after this game will be able to throw up their tails.
Hey, these guys get it.
Real time.
Stick here and things.
Like.
That.
I tell you what, great camerawork, by the way.
The camera guys down there, they are in on every single play.
Third down and six demons from their own 37.
Misdirection.
Now, rights can always try to find someone downfield.
They force them right side.
Here comes the pressure backside and they got the sack on him and that.
Was a covered sack.
I had to give it to Statesboro that time.
They had the right coverage on that time again.
They were trying to go for the tight end down.
They're going down the field.
They were trying to get to Jason Hargrove again as he released and got downfield.
And you can see him right there setting up.
But they had the coverage on.
They didn't let themselves get beat, let them get behind them.
And as a result, Statesboro gets a big sack right there, forcing the fourth down.
Justin Houston himself for the defensive end for the Blue Devils with the sack.
Now, Jake Grubb will come and kick it away for the demons and.
Look at the pressure up there.
You know, they're going to probably come back.
This one.
Jake, where stands he.
Snapped some runs out of the way short kick shielded.
By one of the up men for the Davenport right side but the Blue Devils will have it an excellent field position right at midfield.
Good Sam.
Good.
Stand by, Statesboro.
You know, in a situation where they were, you know, they got down there, they didn't get anything out of it, but a great stand for them.
Now they get the ball in midfield.

Well that's WW dot dot org.
Blue Devils now at midfield Gerald good field position to start to drive first play left side They've got about two.
They've got about two.
But I'll tell you what that was a heck of a play in there.
Again, I talked about it earlier and that's McCullough, the running back he's now.
You haven't called his name a whole lot from Russell for running the ball, but this little guy here is going after linebackers.
He has Krishna with blocks.
He's making some nice hits out there.
And you know as well, if they can do that, then Whitlow, those guys are going to continue to get some yards there.
Second down and nine right on cold hard play fakes right side going up top.
It's hard to get it downfield, but Morris.
Gray with good defensive coverage on Carnell Thompson and the pass goes incomplete.
Gray went NFL style defensive coverage there.
Step for step.
He was there for stepping.
You know, I like to play ball.
I still like the selection here that they're making with the plays with saying, hey, we've got to take our shots.
And you know what?
That was just a hair from being.
You're right.
So, you know, take the shots.
Don't sit back there and just wait and see.
Well, we're going to let them take those out of our game just because, you know, they're up it take the shot, get an opportunity to score, get the ball.
Down for a little bit because we know that they're running style with it don't with a big play that was going to eat at the clock and you saw tonight David going for completions with all out of.
13 attempts of 41 yards could have be.
More third down play.
We'll see if he gets it beyond this it becomes the pressure for some early pass at the corner incomplete intended out the flats for Brian Davis to senior wide out of the pressure was heavy on cold Indiana had to unload pretty quickly and.
That guy he ran over there for four one Tim Robbins was Justin Brown putting pressure on Cohen to make him rushing to throw a little bit.
And, you know, he's been having a whale of a game so far tonight, going to just a little bit off from from completions.
He can get a couple of those get as I said early in the first half, he needs those for confidence building.
What wow will kick it coming here for his kick but he got it away.
Great calls for the catch squeezes it at the 21 yard line and it's still about fuel possession.
Right now, the demons will take it back from the 21 Blue Devils had it at midfield, not able to advance it.
And it looks like it may be one of Roberson's kind of settle down a little bit, you know, even though states bro, they know what they do best, they have been able to kind of, you know, kind of throughout the ankle, so to speak, and not be able to get pushed around a little bit.
And you're right, the first half they had a couple of touchdown scores but not able to enjoy them for any length of time because the Blue Devils came right back in with their own score.
Yes, they did.
The first and ten.
Total yards in the third quarter on the Raiders at 79.
The Blue Devils are the only two teams trying to get more.
They work at left side, pass the.
Line of scrimmage, pick up of about two carry by Sanders.
And Etheredge again getting off of the block.
They're going to have to do something with him because he's not going to let them run around his side.
The number 13, that was for four.
Statesboro has been playing at that particular run very, very well.
More action coming your way tomorrow night.
It's the five a state championships.
This one from the big orange jungle at Parkview.
Tomorrow at 6 p.m. on GPB, it'll be the Vikings of Lions.
Being hosted by the Panthers at Parkview.
And we'll be there on the ground.
Straight ahead, pickup of about four packs being pushed.
And that demon offensive line, Geraldo, as you indicate, is starting to settle down a bit.
Now.
I'm starting to get some creases and just kind of getting the winning the battle of girth at this point.
And that's what they try to you know, they're trying to take some time off the clock that that's what they want to do.
The coach doesn't want to go out here, say, well, you know what, we're not going to try to make too many quick hitting plays.
We've got to get some sustained drives here and let's try to do it through our running game, get back, try to do the things that we do best.
But again, they're playing is what extends this defense is enjoy the football.
Right.
And the demons, a third.
And five just direction they go.
Right.
Sam Sanders at the corner turns it up.
Got to be close to the first down marker from here.
He looks to have it.
Well, I tell you what, if he got it here, it was because of that person he put on right here at the end.
I mean, he got around the corner, as you see here.
SANDERS This day, right when he sees that corner, he turns it up.
And that's what you've got to do.
You've got to be ready to go it step on the gas and get that first down to the good shot.
But you know what?
As a running back, you've got to take some of those.
It's kind of give and take.
It's good to get the first down.
Sanders to senior coming into tonight's ballgame 100 only 151 yards away from setting the single season rushing record at Warner Robins timeout Watford Demons take a timeout after the first down run by Sanders and it's just that Bucks sweet play that they're so known for for running Jarell and that will work well at the corner for the first.
Down well you know listen to the coach talk about Sanders at the beginning of the season they didn't realize what they had you know, he was a you know, they thought he was kind of light or whatever.
Good, tough guy.
But he was able to to get to almost 2000 yards rushing this year.
Take a look at coach.
We in that huddle, we had a chance to catch up with him prior to the ball game to get his thoughts about what was so special about this year's team at Warner Robins.
We've had great senior leadership, went through some tough times last year in that, you know, the first time we've not made the playoffs since 1978.
And, you know, I think that they you know, they've got they let a lot of people down and things like that.
And so they've, you know, committed themselves from day one in the off season to not letting that happen again and have worked extremely hard.
They care about one another and the whole team is very close and work hard.
And you know, we're probably not the most talented team that's going to be playing, but, you know, our stock is up anybody in terms of our work ethic.
And so we both work hard and make great improvement throughout the year and excited about having the opportunity to play this week.
On the ground.
Straight ahead, it's Hicks with the football.
Hicks got it up near the 35 as we approach the end of the third quarter.
You know what?
At the end of this quarter, the coach going to go over there and think it was because he was the only guy there for possibly a big play.
Again, right up the gut against Statesboro.
But he was able to make the tackle and able to run the clock out here for the end of the third quarter.
At the end of three, it is still a close win here at Womack.
The demons of Warner Robins, leading at 20 to 13 over the Blue Devils of Statesboro, will step aside for time out, and we'll come back with an exciting final minutes of football.
I wish I had access to the stat tip.
Back alive at Warmack Field.
Statesboro, Georgia.
Final 12 minutes in this quarter championship.
Warner Robins leading the Blue Devils 2213 and Jarell this promises to be an excellent and exciting finish from Statesboro.
That's right.
Don't get up and leave his right now.
This is the last quarter and we've got to find out who's going to blink first.
You know, one robins, they make a mistake here.
Maybe give the ball up to Statesboro at some point time.
I think it could get very, very interesting here that the two point factor that they went to it earlier on in in the third quarter, you got to find out how big that was.
We were talking about momentum in terms of what the line player was doing for the demons.
Warner Robins, they can continue that on this drive.
Another touchdown here make it awfully.
Difficult for the Blue Devils to continue on the ground.
They fake it right side out to quarterback right foot the foot that's got some on the left side Brexit into the second day stumbles near the 45 down to the 43.
But the misdirection keeper works well for the demons.
Well, you know what?
Again, loading up for the run, looking for the running back so they get decent steps up and makes a big play.
The court mark right gets here, fakes in there, takes around the outside.
I tell you what he was, he had little had some intentions there to go all the way if he could big play for Warner Robins now.
Looks like we find out they're coming up a few more plays and that's what it's going to come down to apparently the rest of his game.
So the first down run by quarterback Mark Wright puts the football in the blue double territory.
Straight ahead, they go with the carry it's Hicks right side Hicks near the 40 to go.
Time out the clock you know even though this started the fourth quarter when Robins wants to do the things that they can do best and that's hand the ball off and make some yards, they can do that.
And, you know, everybody's picking on Sanders.
You know, he's been a big guy coming in here all game long, but I tell you what, maybe they forgot about Bob Hickson here because Dixon's been having a whale of a game a while.
You heard Coach Way talking about it at halftime, and he was real pleased with what they were doing on the ground.
On Robins tonight, 106 yards rushing, 100 yards in the air, fairly balanced.
Right side saint has got some room Brexit tackle inside the 30 down near the 27.
What do you say about that?
That right there is finding out who really wants it most.
That's what it came down to.
Hit nice, run their own right side.
I thought it was going to pull at first, but they just a straight handoff and he's able to get some yards on the right side, keeping those feet, turning the whole time, able to pick up some extra yards in there.
Big first down, run for them.
Right now, the blue devil defense, not sure if they're coming or going.
And as the demons have so many weapons, we've seen a couple of them displayed.
On this first and ten now from the Blue Devil, 29 on the ground spinning inside as Hicks picks.
Blocks his way to the 25.
Almost there a nice tackle there in the backfield by Tony Watkins shooting the middle up.
They're going to hit on Hicks, but Hicks was able to keep his balance spinning right in the hole, which is a very tough thing to do.
And making some positive yards again in there gets about five yards, almost, almost five yards on the run.
And you got to get the feeling now with the offensive, the name is offensive coordinator Stacey Hart.
He's starting to settle and feel that they're able to do some things that they really wanted to do all game long.
In terms of game plan, things are starting to work for them now.
As you look at Sanders on the night with that last rust, he went over 2000 yards for the season in 20.
17 and awfully close to that.
He's going to reach record as he come back.
A lot of.
Plays Sanders left side.
You know what this is the kind of game right now, this drive here is what the players want to have.
It's like, coach, hey, we are in a position right now.
We have a little momentum going.
Let's keep putting that, you know, our foot on the neck.
But let's let's let's get out of here again as Crenshaw the battle Crenshaw and Clark again are pulling up the middle and Sanders just falling right behind him.
You know what?
They're smelling it.
They want to go out, smell it, Enzo.
They want to smell it like they want to go for a touchdown here.
They don't want to settle for anything less.
Take a look at the management of Alvin Sanders workhorse tonight for the demons.
Just to finish up that point, Sanders runs it for the first down what a 2017 yards on the season Willie Reed with that 1999 record of 2098 so Sanders ran 9 minutes of football, left with a window here to possibly capture that record for Warner Robins.
He's had a great season, no doubt about it.
He was a secret in the beginning of the season.
Nobody really knew much about him.
But guess what?
If it works out, it's Chiesa.
He's a heck of a back.
And certainly I don't know if he's the one material, but he's somebody.
Going to give him a good look and maybe go on to play next year, 7/1 and ten.
He's right on the ground.
Left side kicks, works it back to the middle of the field.
Got it down near the 15 and Sanders, incidentally, fifth all time at the school in terms of career rushing with over 3200 yards.
The gain is 3/2 down.
It's not a heavily recruited back, as you indicated, Gerald, but really has shown his stuff certainly in the playoffs for the Demons and even beyond that all season long.
Right.
He is probably going to get a little bit bigger, a little bit thicker depending on where he goes.
And he could be a very, very nice addition to someone's backfield.
Second down and seven inside the red zone to the left side.
Sanders crunched at the.
Line, but he fights off of that one tackler and works it inside the 15 near the 14, perhaps 30 states.
Statesboro needs a big stop right here.
They need a big stop here.
Of course, you know, their players are going to be getting out to try to make something happen here, but they need a turnover, no doubt about it.
As you saw that Tommy Watkins, you know, in on the play, they're making a nice stick, as he has done all year long and big part of a very, very stingy defense.
But you they they need to have something happen here right now, a turnover or something in order to stop his drive so they can get the ball back to their offense.
And indeed, you're right, that defense for the Blue Devils been out there a pretty long time in the second.
Half, a football, third down conversions, three of nine, both teams on the ground.
Sanders got room punches ahead.
Right Thinks it's a first down.
We'll see if the officials concur.
Look here.
It looks like they're definitely going to have the first down.
He learned for that.
When he went, he looked like he was running a dirt track meet.
When he turned up the field, he was flying and again, the offensive lineman, they appreciate drives like this.
They appreciated the plays that the coaches calling and said, hey, we're doing what we do best.
And look, as you see there, guess what, 69 and 60.
Sean.
Clark, those two guys, that's what they do best.
So let's let's get behind two guys and let's make it work.
And they are making it work right now first down goal to go and on officials time out the demons Warner Robins leading at 20 to 13 trying to add some more to it.
Just inside the ten yard line right to go under center a Sanders looking for the hole He's got it Good walking in Touchdown for the demons boy this patient at the corner, Jeff was very patient again.
Yes.
We'll have to see it to get Chris on court.
If you get sick of these guys again, they just made a made a pathway forward.
For Sanders to go out there and get the touchdown, as you see here.
Look at that.
They argue 69 and 60.
That's up right there at nothing but love the player ceiling.
They get a touchdown.
They have made a living on this play all night long.
Bread and butter.
It works.
Let's stick with it.
Did they put the football on that young man's shoulders album?
Sanders and Sanders have responded big at this point.
Now Grubbs will come on to try to pull in after.
Get it down.
He grabs, gets a kick, finally gets one airborne, and he drives it through for the demons.
I think.
He tried to kick it to the next count he was going to.
Get.
This is for the first time, right offense.
Right.
Then he put that with a mile by the stadium.
So we take a look now at the run left side.
Watch the two guards.
You see Crenshaw and Clark up front creating the whole Sanders able to be very deliberate about waiting for it to clear runs it in from eight that.
That's a thing of beauty that it really was you know just to watch that play it was a thing of beauty as you see there.
13 plays on the drive, 17, nine yards, 6 minutes, 23 seconds.
That's an awful long time for anyone's defense to be able to field.
Sanders with a second touchdown of the night at the 6 minutes, 23 seconds looms bigger than almost anything that you see on the screen at this point, because they already had the lead.
Now they get that additional score and it makes it awfully tough for the Blue Devils with a pretty much run the ball in it offense.
This is what takes them out.
You know, where the coach is now going to have to really have to come up with some good plays.
They can't go out there and just be content with saying, all right, we're going to make them come after us.
If they want to get back in this game with a love, 7 minutes to go, they're going to have to lose it.
Their offense is going to have to make some feel, some defenses out there.
Another player is going to have to step up and makes a big, big plays happen.
Squid get came to Charles rock rock steady fighting off.
Defenders now they finally get him down near the 27 yard line They definitely did not want to kick it Dean Rocket able to collect it for state's ball They'll start to drive from the 27 We'll see the football bouncing up Hit rock in the facemask but able to collect it.
And then once that's quiver comes in like that, Gerald is almost tough to get any kind of run back set because you saw a lot of cooking cones working right side.
Of top pass going to be batted away near the 40 flags finally coming in there.
I was wondering when they're going to call that one because he was all over the defender before.
He can hardly turn around out.
They're going get to the play out there to Cornell Thompson.
Thompson was he was smothered out there.
I think it was.
It was really doubt about that.
Maurice Gray, the junior defensive back all over Thompson.
I think he was pleading his case to.
Know what he was for.
Because it was a clear pass interference.
No question about it, right there in front of the officials.
Interference on the defense, 15 yard penalty first down 50.
So the line of scrimmage now for the Blue Devils, the 43 yard line down the block.
And there you see Gray from behind.
Touchdown really with the right arm is where all the contact took place.
There's a look at that time of possession really the demons, as Cole Rose writes out, a raise as.
Far as this is going to be picked off.
It's picked off by Dominique Davenport, the senior for the demons.
And that's close to a dagger Jarell it will it's, you know.
Yes.
You had 7 minutes left to go in the game.
You can say that.
But again, I think the defense they've been on the field too long.
And I think this is one of those situations where, you know, they're starting to hit, starting the feeling, you know, they had they've been out there for an extremely long time, this whole second half.
But this play is exactly what you talked about in terms of what the Blue Devil offense really had to do.
And this is kind of a typical of them to be forced to pass a football in that sequence on the field cone there through the interception.
Right.
They got out of what they normally do.
When you get a team who do is so used to just running the ball pounding the ball the whole time and then have to make them and then they have to come out there and try to play catch a ball.
It just doesn't work that way.
They don't have many big play people in that regard.
So they're going to have to, you know, find other ways to try to score as a point.
So, you know, naturally they're going to sit back there and wait for the quarterback to throw the ball, see if he's going to make a mistake, especially when he's hasn't really been proven yet.
He hasn't complete a very many passes and the coaches feel defensively it's in their favor is just a matter of time.

But the demons have been effective in taking this air out of the football here at Womack Stadium and driving that time off the clock.
Yeah.
Yeah, they have, you know, that one drive that they had that they scored on here recently to make it 27 was probably the drive of the game because they took the ball and they literally just did everything that they wanted to do that they're used to doing.
You know, they had the, you know, the runs up the middle.
Crenshaw and Clark just pretty much own the defense on their drive, third down and 11.
Right under center.
And on the left side.
Sanders looking for some moon.
Finds a hole left side one man to beat the second go Sanders down the sideline Somebody's got an angle but Trey won't catch him.
He'll dove in.
That's a touchdown for the demons.
47 yard touchdown run by out and Sanders and Sanders just picking up where he left off in the semifinals a football game on the ground for Alvin Sanders.
You know, and that again, was a thing of beauty, because guess what?
Again, you know, I give you one guess of what play there in Crenshaw.
Clark, another names.
Again, this is this is what they have done all game long and you know, makes a nice run down side, stretches it out and again picks the seam and is able to turn it up.
And once he does that, he adds a speed to take it all the way.
Grubbs will come on now to put an exclamation point on this one as right will hold it.
Get it up, Warren and Grubbs.
Drives it through.
It's 30 for 13 now, the demons of Warner Robins extend and build on their lead and getting awfully close to their fourth title in the state of Georgia.
And, you know, the defense of just on the field, too long they were out there quite a long time.
I mean you look at the time possession.
I think the defense has probably been out there on that field during the quarter.
As you see here, fooling around the right side right there against that 69 and the 60 was inside.
Well, he's able to get outside.
And once he is getting in the open like that, not many guys around are going to catch him.
This a touchdown, Sanders gets a touchdown, a 47 yard touchdown and puts probably the nail in the coffin for Warner Robins.
And Sanders with only two yards need it now on this football game to surpass Willie Reed 2098 on the season to become the all time season leader for the Demons.
Warner Robins Yes, he does not look good I think, to see all remain.
So we will see.
But you know, unless they can come out here and go go three and out or something in, in.
And I hope that nobody's really paying attention because you know what?
It is great to have records and all.
That, but you know what?
You're going to want to have this up on a good note.
When Lou wants to end it on a good note for the Blue.
Devils, works it inside of Demon Territory near the 48 yard line.
Good Return by Nick Weddle Robbins.
And that Blue Devil offense is not done yet at home coming back out there.
But they've got to get some things going in the air very quick.
You know, it's they've got to be able to any friction I think that these situations will help him grow.
He's just a junior remember these two these times out here because the passing game is so important, even though they place a lot of their and a lot of value on the run, he's got to be able to pass the ball.
Cole will go under.
Center pass in the flats.
They get it to Brady Young.
Brady Young makes the contact, pushes his way down near the 40 yard line and runs out of bounds.
So a pickup of about four or five on a reception alone and the clock will stop.
No, nothing out of bounds by number 11.
Malcolm Sanders with a phenomenal performance in this final ball game in the quarter division.
He had 266 yards last weekend in the semifinals.
As you take a look at Brady Young on the reception levels, tip toeing.
Down that sideline.
COLE rolling right side now raises a couple of questions.
Try to tuck it away in, run right near the 35 yard line.
Took a hard hit there.
He was sandwiched by two Warner Robins players, Roderick Rose, one of them.
Roger Rose, looked like he was trying to get his hits, one of those film shots that's know, the highlight reel shots.
But Cole was able to look around and him just before he hit him and he and McKenzie made the touch.
And Malcolm thumps once going up top trying to get it the great real stumble down near the seven yard line.
There's no flag, incidental contact.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Get the feet all tangled up down there.
And, boy, you know, it's again, you know, they're out there often.
They they they really are just trying to get something going here, maybe get a score, get a onside kick and, you know, maybe some some kind of miracle is going to happen here.
But again, the beginning of the half, Warner Robins came out and they pretty much took control of this game.
You had look at the play downfield.
By the great.
Crew pass at the corner.
It's young Brady Young with the grab and steps out of bounds near the 28 yard line.
Out of bounds.
Oh, credit to the Blue Devils.
They finished at 14 or right now they stand, things stand, they'll go at 14 and one on the 12 four campaign, a lot of folks didn't even expect the Blue Devils to be in the championship run this year, given the transition from coaches.
So hats off the state's ball.
It's Cole, fakes it on the line, dumps it out in the flats to Charles Rock and takes a shot for his efforts as a pass goes incomplete.
You know, as as you know, I look at what stage ball is, you know, they have a basic offense that they run for years.
You know, they do things, you know, once in a while, a little bit differently.
But as you see here, Colin stepping out here to get the ball out to rock an aggressive with went through his hands kind of a catch the wrong way you know you got to get your hands out get you know get there get your palms up to get in front of it.
But you learn something from these games, too, even though it's, you know, they they're behind and, you know.
The inevitable may happen before the loss is concerned, as you see there at Walter Rodgers again.
And that's the brown.
And yet he's just just as Brown has been all over the place tonight you learn something from this that at some point in time you do have to, you know, learn some different things offensively.
Do you run the ball?
You've had two great players to run the ball, but somewhere along the line you've got to do some things differently.
You have to incorporate some other parts of your offense in order to when you get in these situations, certainly in the big games, but you can have other things to draw on.
So the Blue Devils turn the football over on downs.
Now, as you take a look at the final hour, one minute remaining in that class championship ballgame and they're tied at 14 apiece.
Everyone thought that that class a football final would be a good one.
And it's panning out to be tied at 14 with a minute remaining on the ground now spins it a head left side and they get the clock going here.
Warmack field.
Oh, well, that certainly states well, you know, regardless of what the score is, they have accomplished a lot this year.
And as you as you indicated, nobody really expected to be here, the official the number one ranking at least, and being able to come in here of a game like this and it hosted at home, you know, bittersweet to some extent.
But it's you again, you learn something from this and hopefully that big group of guys are going to be here next year, are going to remember this.
They beat you right back in the same situation again next year.
On the ground and left side picks trying to work it inside the interior.
Not a whole lot there that will stop him at the line of scrimmage.
But at least people think that these demons of Warner Robins were some kind of fluke coming into this ballgame tonight and a program overall that's just storied in terms of its playoff performance.
Just take a look at some of these facts.
27 city championships, 23 regional championships.
As you see, they start to get ready.
Oh, yeah.
With the traditional.
I'm telling what I'm surprised the didn't have those things emptied out but it's time.
Let's just continue with that list, though.
17 times in the state quarterfinals.
11 times in the state semifinals, five times the state finals, three time state champs likely for tonight, two times national champs.
And they've had a winning record at Warner Robins since 1966.
On the ground, they go right side with the football this time and we're under a minute remaining and Bryan way and what a first campaign at Warner Robins what program on the verge of celebrating a season that he will never forget?
I think he needs to kind of get that hood and put over his head because they're looking for somebody.
Got it.
Wooden head.
Coach.
But somebody's got to catch them.
Talk about, you know, that's what you know what he doesn't mind at all.
Although you probably wish it had a little bit more time, although there's only 15.
But again, hey, hats off to Statesboro.
I think Warner Robins, the coach that indicated this team has exceeded his expectations.
Now they have a championship to it off.
Great season for them.
Great season for.
States for indeed you're right flags coming in it'll go against the demons probably delay a game but that's a guessing.
Game that ball.
Game offense five yard penalty repeat tonight back at the 40.
Eight yard line.
So the demons take the trip down to Statesboro and they come in and they turn in a fine performance.
Things started out here very interesting from Warmack field.
Stayed that for most of the contest.
But around the end we talked about it early on that it was whoever would win the battle in the trenches to able to be able to assert their offensive flow would be the team to take advantage and come out a winner here.
And the demons seem to have done that.
And not only just that, it came down to a couple of big plays.
It was who would make them when.
They had the opportunity to do so.
Certainly one Robert did so on with a with a nice couple of passes down field, one in particular to Jason Hargrove, who made a nice catch and run it down into inside the five yard line.
So they they made the plays when they had to.
Well, they knew what they had to do against a very stingy Statesboro defense.
And the coach finally his little dousing, too.
You know I'm hey that's again they look for the it they know that the guys are probably going to set them up and they but they want to have it.
Oh you got a nice weatherized jacket.
No, no, he's not.
He's cheating.
He's feeling a little bit.
He knew he felt he probably would have put it on at halftime or whatever.
But his team.
Did.
So congratulations to Coach Bryan way at the end of it all.
Jerel He'll be able to say, I did it I way right.
You trying to set the good ones here?
Grubbs will play through the others.
Still coming after it, though.
Credit to him as where catches it.
He's clutch right there on his tracks.
It'll finally come clear and be picked up by Justin Houston.
A correction looks like the demons Blue Devils had it, but that will be the final play of the ballgame.
It appears they had about 14 on the clock.
It might as well just run it off, you know.
But they are celebrating here at Womack, Gerald the demons of Warner Robins.
Are you a class for a champs in the state of Georgia for the year 2004?
And they come on the road down to Statesboro and they do it.
Well, came in here with speed speed show that they can that it does get you know, they said, you know, they can have the gaudy numbers.
At first most people thought even myself that, you know, defensively, if space was able to play to the way they want to, that they would hang in this game.
Jim Tanaka standing by with a happy coach.
Bryan Way, Jimmy.
I thank you Charlie.
Coach class for the state champions.
How's it feel?
It feels really good.
I'm all for proud of our kids.
They work hard.
They've work.
They've done everything asked them to do all year.
Long enough.
You know when at halftime down by one we terms we keep playing hard good things have happened and I played outstanding.
Proud of and yeah I've been offered Minnesota and I'm player.
