Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWelcome inside Macon Coliseum for the Class five Boys State championship game as the region three champion and 2018 two Brunswick Pirates meet the region five champion and 29 and two Altoona Buccaneers.
And good evening.
I'm Matt Stewart, joined by Larry Smith.
And Larry, both these teams in the midst of their best seasons ever in program history.
Both these teams going for their first ever state titles, but that's where the similarities stop.
The program histories are very different.
Yeah, very different.
Altoona, as we mentioned in the pre games, is their seventh year, but it's a little bit longer.
They started there but again, that's a little bit back in the sixties.
You look at these two teams as well, one very guard oriented, the other a much larger presence at one side.
But at the same time, as you talk about for every boys championship we've had in these two days has been a barn burner, absolute thriller.
If we're saving the best for last, we're in for a treat tonight here on this Friday night.
Well, Brunswick is the team with the bigger front line there, led up front by Roger Davis, who scored nearly half of their points in their 4443 semifinal win over Cedar Shoals.
Yeah, Roger Davis, just outstanding, 17 points and almost ten rebounds a game.
The Reason Player of the year, we've had so many of those players of the year are the regions that we've seen here in Macon.
He's a senior and again, he's the key for this team to see if they can get it done tonight.
Region three Player of the Year, The Region five, Player of the Year, Rodney Brown and Lee leads a very balanced Altoona scoring attack.
No question they've got a lot of guys six four they're very athletic.
They get a lot of play out of their different players.
BROWN 13 points, seven rebounds.
But again, a much different offense here because as you mentioned, Madison a very evenly, very even Altoona Buccaneers team in terms of how they attack things.
And Coach Hood knows that he's going to need everyone to be on the same page, talk to each other, communicate, help each other to get a win tonight.
Marcus Hood led Hiram to the 2008 Final Four.
And for the last seven years, he's been the head coach at Altoona.
Now has them playing for the state championship.
For more on that story and how they got here, let's check in with Sam Crenshaw.
All right, Matt, of course, we have conference calls this week with the coaches.
We were on the run with Marcus Hood when he found out that was on the line and quickly said, yes, Sam, last time I saw you, we lost.
It was at their holiday tournament, December 3rd at the Lake City Classic.
They lost to a macintosh team on their home floor, a macintosh team that finished the regular season undefeated but lost to MLK in the second round.
Ellington was hoping to get another shot at those guys because they haven't lost a game since.
One more win tonight and they'll get that first championship in school history.
Yeah.
Sam, thanks so much for that.
You know that.
You know how cool Marcus Hood is on that same conference call, he said one of the biggest problems he had is that he ran out of hair gel this week to go get a new kind of gel.
Here's the starting lineup for the Buccaneers.
Brought to you by Regions Bank, Swanson, Rivette, Dunes, Brown and Chemung Go and for the Brunswick Pirates, Lampkin, Moore.
Heck, Davis and Dunham Brunswick DFS previous playoff run the 2013 quarter finals.
So like Allen Tuna in unchartered waters, if you will.
Brunswick comes out the zone now with two and a nice perimeter playing.
Brunswick wants to make them hit some shots on the outside.
Three ball off the mark by twos and the rebound controlled by Brunswick and heck, Darius Lampkin, their point guard on the dribble.
Roger Davis off the mark Rebound kept alive by Brunswick on the offensive end.
Davis gets it back back inside the tunnel to money dunno six six sophomore forward.
Going to be a handful for Allen to have a hand on the handle underneath.
Yeah.
He's one of those big players again.
You got to really be careful Allen Tuna.
You don't have to make it match up with his size underneath.
Rodney Brown inside and one that's a big play right there by Brown.
The shot blocker coming right out.
A nice body control, good strength as well.
As we watch the replay on this look at Brown here gets him on the lower block and takes the contact still has the strength to get an end and draw the M1.
Rodney Brown averages 13.7 rebounds per game, tied at two after he misses the first free throw attempt of the night that is going to be called on Swanson Or traveling called pardon me rambling to call them for heck.
There's the head coach of the Brunswick Pirates, Chris Turner, former star at Central Gwinnett.
Seven consecutive seasons in the playoffs.
Before he took over, they'd had nine losing seasons in the previous 12.
Sherman go from three as the junior eighth in command of Evans with ten points on the year Donald inside got strip stays with it Lampkin inside and Lampkin got fouled on the shot.
But you can see right there what Al Altoona would like to do to try to take on the big company.
Donovan You mentioned at six six young sophomore when he got the ball inside right there, three white shirts converged on him and try to keep the pressure on him and make anything easy.
Defense by committee against the big dooms was called for the foul on Darius Lampkin, a six foot senior guard averaging just under four points, four and a half rebounds and close to two assists per game.
We have a clock issue.
He had had some already.
Let's see.
Bill Waters blew the whistle.
Not quite sure why they stopped it, but not sure the clock was running.
You see, we've got here in the arena, 552 Our clock has 546 usually they're in sync inside to Swanson going against Dunham.
Pick out some manga.
Dunham ends up with the loose ball.
Brunswick 15 and own Region three this year.
Their second region championship Lancome inside amongst the trees and he muscles it up another nice play right there Buccaneers and a man to man defense now on to the finding away and they got Brunswick finding a way to beat it Shimano gets on the tramp and they call a time out or did they get tied up they got tied up as a jump ball.
Yep.
Jump ball.
And so the possession arrow favors Brunswick to Brunswick on a 20 game winning streak they haven't lost since a 5345 defeat at the hands of rivals Savannah on December 20th.
The clock right now again, we're trying to figure out here, Matt and says you get different scores from we got it now 9 to 2 which is not right is not correct 665 Brunswick has a65 lead on Altoona had some clock issues your last night the late game he finally turns it off the big clock and then the center scoreboard over and over the court had some problems overnight.
They got it fixed.
Let's take a look at the text.
G Keys to the game.
Larry Yeah, for Brunswick.
Go ride the big three.
Durham and Davis and heck, they've got good size in there.
And B, where are the where are the killer bees?
We're out with tuna.
Rodney Brown and Bradley Bradley defense for those two, they've got to be careful down They bring a lot on both ends of the court for the Buccaneers are out with tuna be strong on the perimeter again you're not very big inside so you've got to have a strong storm of the game, very smart, savvy forwards as well and keep the pedal to the metal.
This is a two on an eight game win streak.
They've had some very decisive wins in this playoff run.
And now as you are talking, 81 and 12 in three years and in the past five ball into the those are the keys to the game try to by text but it's interesting Marcus Hood has a very smart team.
He says his basketball players are students of the game and they can play different styles and at a different tempo depending upon how the flow of the game is going, how I like his approach.
This week, he told his team.
He said, If you think that you're if you focus on doing something different, then you're in trouble.
They want to do everything the way they've done it all year long.
It's another game trying to get a victory.
And that pressure defense going to a zone now inside Roger Davis first points of the night for Roger Davis ahead to Sham Mango, who tries to save it from going out of bounds and does dooms on the drive shot contested Lampkin on the drive and a blocking foul and one Rodney Brown calls for the foul and Lance going to go back to the line where he's already hit two free throws here in this quarter.
He loves the replay right here.
Nice move inside Altoona fans not happy with the call.
They felt that Brown was set.
Lampkin has scored six of Brunswick's first ten points and he averages less than four a game up Brunswick on an eight oh run after starting the game down five to a nice start for the senior for the Pirates Brunswick still in that zone they're going to stay in that until Altoona figures out a way to beat it.
Coach Hood says they've got to get into the middle of that zone and then kick out to get some open three looks.
Yeah, let's be tough.
We don't really have an inside presence with the six six done them down there.
That's going to be a tall order three point attempt by Brook that is blocked out of bounds by heck.
Oh and a timeout with 350 to play in the opening quarter and Brunswick with the early six point lead a folks puts Butler for Mr. Martin Honda in Gainesville.
We want to wish all the teams in the state playoffs the very best of luck.
And if you think Mr. Martin Honda is a proud sponsor of Georgia high School athletics, you got that right.

Visit college Gold Gamescom 350 to play in the opening quarter.
Both coach Marcus Hood and Chris Turner meet with their teams in their huddle.
Here's what they had to say to their teams in the locker room.
What was the passion like You've never had before?
And it doesn't change.
You got to be passionate about your teammates.
Be passionate about each other.
But I'll tell you what, gentlemen, if there's a loose ball, I need to see a buccaneer jersey all over.
Wow.
Somebody said yeah to.
All I want you to do is lay it on the line.
Lay it on the line.
Made play as hard as you possibly can.
Play as hard as you possibly can.
And I guarantee you, good things are going to be okay.
Let's lay it on the line.
If you read a little line to play, two more to go.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yes.
All right.
All right.
Feel like I'm in a revival.
A basketball revival.
And I'm ready to go.
Hey, I'll tell you what.
I was impressed that those guys were so in sync they didn't miss a single to clap.
LeBron has laid it on the line here early for six shooting.
They've outrebounded Altoona, 6 to 1 in the opening.
4 minutes.
Eight of those points in the paint, too.
They're doing everything they want to do here in the opening minutes.
Coach has got to be excited with what he sees so far.
Justin Evans has checked into the ballgame number four.
He's the first substitution for Altoona.
Chimichanga launches another three off the front hour long rebound chance for Brunswick, the run for the loose with the dribble and Swanson was able to pick it up Jay manga stripped fouled foul is going to be called on Zach Moore number two teen foul on Brunswick.
Inbounds weren't ready for prevent though missed the bunny air ball out of the hands of heck.
Quick three shot there by Brunswick.
Chris Turner's game plan is to get the ball inside take advantage of their size advantage Swanson wild left handed shot and able to draw the foul We went run out the big man right there Dunham Like Brunswick changing things up there three quarter court press.
Altoona had no problems breaking it.
But again, once you write that fresh, you got the two big guys underneath.
Nice job right there by Swanson.
You take it right to him and he's got a couple of freebies.
Will Swanson following the game plan, which in part was to get Brunswick's bigs in foul trouble.
So Dunham picks up his first personal foul and heck has a personal foul.
So two of their three bigs.
By bigs I mean six, 6264 with one foul here in the fourth quarter, Dunham goes up high to get the rebound This is goal free throws stolen by Evans and traveling to Collins Jamaica long again Lou excited right there It's got a couple of threes made one of them trying to move the ball and get something going after falling behind five to runs, Luke has scored the last nine points of the quarter.
Davis Great.
The time he finishes underneath the and a timeout fall by Clark is good Vernon Altoona that's Brunswick has scored 11 straight That was a great job He got the doubles and this is what you do if you've got a double team somebody somewhere has got to be open.
Great Look right here.
No steals.
He's wide open back behind him.
Magellan, One more look at it.
Somebody open somewhere?
That's just again, we talked before.
Good teamwork.
Feel each other, talk to each other, communicate good things happen.
Donovan.
What a big force.
He is already in this game.
Dunnam averages nine and a half points.
Seven and a half rebounds per game.
Region 35a second.
Teamer And how about Davis averages ten assists a game.
He's a double double 17 9.9 assists 17 points as well.
Great assist there.
Region player of the year helping his team to an 11 oh run here to an eight point lead early Altoona has not scored in the last 4 minutes Rodney Brown being guarded by Dunham so he's in a tough match up underneath size wise they go inside a Swanson shot blocked from behind by heck.
Let's see if they call it on Heck or Dunham.
It'll be on heck and that'll be number two on him.
We'll look at it here.
Like you said before the game plan.
Try to get those guys, take it inside where you can draw some contact.
Swanson Done that now for the second time already in his opening minutes Swanson's oh for two at the foul line a six score senior who has signed a baseball scholarship.
Airball is that one.
Well, it's great to get in the mix in foul trouble.
Even better if you can connect on the foul shot Swanson has not done yet.
Right now, for the Buccaneers, it's just it's a mental game right now.
They need just a just to hit a shot to kind of just get the monkey off the back of the back of the things, get the swagger back with confidence, but offensive rebound right there by some on the throw that drives and lays it in found an open lane on the make slide breaks the scoring drought for Altoona Now see good things look at their body language since that happened once now they jump and jump into a fresh back to Roger Davis inside his shot was blocked by Rodney Brown but foul has been called.
Now again, that's on the double team.
They've got to talk to each other because I tell you what, Dynamos open again right there.
They just didn't see him as teammates.
It's one thing to double team, but you've got to make sure again, you rotate, you talk to each other and not leave the big man open underneath.
Fouls called on Swanson.
Roger Davis scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half, including the game winning free throw with 3.3 seconds left in their 4443 semifinal win versus Cedar Shoals to get them here.
Substitution one round number three.
Kevin Perry, the junior, comes in, replacing Swanson.
Davis been averaging 20 points, ten rebounds in their first state playoff win eight point lead for Brunswick with under 90 seconds to play in the quarter.
John Brunswick is on keeping the ball out of Rodney Brown's hands.
Robert for three Wow rebound for Davis and ahead to Zach more and you'll lay it in blew the layup smoke He soon started this jump a tad bit too soon inside for Rodney Brown and he traveled on run a commanding done him there the big man stayed back on that break and he was right there to prevent the fast break on the other way for the Buccaneers Brown once he saw him step in front of him, he took steps.
Yep.
Just his presence intimidating to the turnover.
Lawson in trouble stolen by Evans and they throw it away.
It's Evan trying to do too much.
He had bravado, but right here in the corner for a wide open three didn't look his way.
Just again, like you said before, it's one thing to do the one good thing they forced a foul or three at the turnover but try to finish if he can make something up.
27 seconds to play in the three.
Rodger Davis inside stays with his miss and puts it in a ten point lead for Brunswick.
Robert And that is the end of the first quarter.
Brunswick finishes the first quarter on a 15 to 2 run pirates in search of their first ever state championship and have a ten point lead after 8 minutes.

As we take a look at your Georgia EMC road to the championships and four Brunswick victories over Stockbridge, South Paulding Jones County in a one point victory over Cedar Shoals in the semifinals and four Altoona victories over Maize Coffee, La Grange and Warner Robins, three double digit victories in round two.
Tonight's match up against Brunswick.
And we talked about one of the keys.
The game again, keep the pedal to the metal right now, though, they've just got to find some kind of consistency on offense.
Three of ten shooting, also five from the line, Brunswick, five for five from the line.
That's another big difference going staying in the zone and packing it in.
John as well by Lampkin.
You see him fall back number one right there, Roger, the free throw line.
When the ball shifts over to the wing, he goes back right there to double team number 23, Robby Brown to deny him the ball.
Fifth rebound for Roger Davis.
He has six points, five rebounds and two assists.
Can't hold on to the pass and then coming up from behind foul is going to be called on Nigel Lawson And again watch the defense on this sequence again by Brunswick number 23.
Rodney Brown is the star player for the Altoona Buccaneers.
He has only one goal attempt in this game and it's because of the defense they're employing.
Every time the ball shifts over, they won't allow the entry pass because he's double teams.
Five team fouls now on Brunswick.
They have not been able to get any penetration whatsoever in the paint against each zone pass intercepted by Zach Moore Davis Ball was poked away from behind by Sean Monga and then a foul on Brunswick after the steal and this will be on Davis and that's number two on him I'm pardon me number one on him good defense right there by the Buccaneers They've done a nice job on that again a little more active with their hands with the more aggressive press.
When they don't press, they try to again put some pressure out toward the half court.
They don't just sit back.
It's on the offensive end where they've had trouble.
Carson Campbell, number 32, as they go inside to Roger Brown.
And Campbell nearly got the loose ball.
I was going to say Campbell's their zone buster.
They got him in the ballgame.
Try to loosen up the zone and the rebound is pulled down by some manga and a foul is going to be called on Brunswick and this will be on Lampkin.
That'll be the seventh team foul on Brunswick.
So now Altoona will be shooting the bonus the rest of the way in this half.
And let's hope they can make some free throws.
And we mentioned over five at the line so far and now a one on one.
Coming up for some other numbers, of course, Drew Swanson has four of those five misses.
This will be the first trip to the rod.
First trip to the line for Trey Dos.
I'm sorry, seven months of 24 weeks.
And Mango averages ten points, four rebounds, four assists per game, the rock holiday classic tournament in BP and then the lake City Classic, all tourney team, the Lake City Classic, the tournament that's hosted by Altoona every year during the holidays, Altoona cuts it to eight with the two free throws, which if you do a man to man defense, don't travel and shot by Rodney Brown defensively it's quite a matchup that's going to be tough for Brown that's against him the bigger done them let's see how they're using the sun trying to pull him out of the block last time down but didn't get it to him.
Let's see what's number 23 underneath now out to the wing trying to get the ball in his hands.
There's their three point shooter off the mark Carson Campbell Lawson, the drive and a wild shot.
Campbell gets the rebound.
Perry for three barely grazed the iron doom's underneath scoops it up rebound Lawson Moore on the drive and he gets fouled on the shot And Zach Moore will go to the line for Brunswick There's nothing falling on the offensive end for Altoona Chemung called for the foul That's number one on him in the fourth team foul on Altoona.
Zach Moore at the foul line for the first time we saw his season numbers right under nine points per game 510 junior guard Brunswick now 646 at the foul line Lawson comes out Dylan Ramsey checks into the ballgame for the first time for Altoona and Kevin Perry comes out Ramsey number 12 Brunswick remains perfect at the line back to a ten point lead.
Altoona won for their last 12 from the floor inside they go to Shenango dishes off to Brown Nice execution but the shot drought continues.
Plus a couple of bunnies that Brown has missed as well.
He needs to find the basket, get his confidence back.
Campbell nearly comes up with the steal Buccaneers extended that defense now we'll get mentioned before off the top map that both of these schools going for their first ever state championship.
Usually this is a night where Miller Grove as we talked about in the pre game and five straight titles I believe six six straight titles.
They were beaten by Warner Robins in the quarter finals and then they knocked out Altoona, beat Warner Robins badly 6239 as Rodney Brown finally able to shake loose and get a basket underneath as Altoona cuts the Brunswick lead a risk Turner not happy.
He calls a time out immediately because that's not, again, what they want to do.
For the first time, we see Roger, Rodney Brown, I should say, get loose and get a basket for 14 to play until halftime.
Rodney Brown finally gets an open look without done them around.
And it's an eight point lead.
The fourth thing about Gray, he's got to have a good ball movement.
Watch our turnover to make easy plays okay summer is the time for hoops.
Great action.
John puts it up.
Angel looking to get some space finds it throws intensity, family memories, tickets and information available at Atlanta.
Dream Dot net Brunswick with an eight point lead on Altoona Reach the six eight Sweet 16 last season, calling the current six a finalist Pebble Brooks 7054 in the quarter finals and you'll see Pebble Brook in action this time tomorrow night in the six eight championship game against Wheeler Brunswick, moving down from six 8 to 5 eight this year and finding themselves in the state championship game for the first time ever.
And right now they've got to be happy with what they've done defensively.
Again, holding Altoona just one of seven shooting in this quarter, four for 17 in the entire game.
So again, less than 30% shooting these Altoona Buccaneers, Brunswick, those three turnovers in this quarter and they missed all three of their field goals.
So again defensively Altoona is getting it done against Brunswick.
It's just on the offensive end outside of that one basket.
They can't get anything going.
One of the top items on Chris Turner's scouting report of Altoona for this game was defend the three.
They've done a good job of that holding Altoona two one of eight from behind the arc so far the only three coming from Chemung early on Chris Turner took over a program that had lost in nine of the previous 12 seasons has taken him to the playoffs seven consecutive years.
You said the key to success was just teach them how to practice and how to work hard every day and really get this team into a great weight lifting and conditioning program and just change the attitude about how they go about their work every day.
Not just games, but practice.
Three point attempts by Beckham off the mark.
Beckham just checked into the ball game during the timeout.
The size of Dunham really causing problems for Rodney Brown even right there on the perimeter.
It's a couple of misses for Campbell since he came into the ball game and he slaps himself in the forehead twice and one of nine now from the Arc Zalal Altoona special that slapping in the head thing helps doesn't one for each miss Davis puts it on the floor spin move on Downs and Davis will go to the foul line.
Yeah good patience by him spinning out of the double team precise field calls for the foul You know dooms pardon me 22 could have been either one of them.
He was in double coverage and Dooms gets tagged with his second foul on Davis back at the foul line where he's already two for two tonight.
Roger Davis working on a double double potentially here in the first half.
That is the first free throw missed for Brunswick right now.
Altoona with three reserves in the game, Ramsey, Ifil and Campbell to go with the starters Brown and doom.
So Coach Hood just trying to find a combination that can get some offense going as he mentioned, under 30% shooting in this game.
As we approach the three minute mark here in the second quarter, prevent Jenks back into the ballgame.
Davis gets his eighth point and it's a nine point lead for Altoona, 7.7 points and seven rebounds inside.
Rodney Brown got stopped by Roger Davis, Davis said, Not this time, not this place.
I tell you, it's been a really tough night for young man Rodney Brown.
Look at this.
He finally thinks he's going to be able to get a shot off what's done him back, him guarding somebody else.
And it's Davis near rejected.
Frustrating night right now for number 23.
I fell off the mark another missed three pointer for Altoona one of ten nearly stolen by prevent.
Let's see if they take advantage of the gamble Davis pass inside for Dunham intercepted by Brown prevent attacks his shot blocked Davis got a piece of that Brown gets it back and sinks it is efforts there by Brown to chase down the loose ball and get away from two pirates and get just his third field goal of the game more long three Brown the rebound Brown inside the art sinks in consecutive baskets for Brown so they move Brown off the low block where he can't get an open look.
They pull him out to the perimeter.
He knocks down a couple of shots and Allen to this got it to five just like that.
A couple of good looks and he's got his swagger back now.
You can see that shot right there.
He was nice and confident, beginning to jump off the floor on the loose ball.
Davis at the elbow, lay off the ball.
Well, that brings it up the floor.
Altitude on an eight two run, Campbell.
Three batted out of bounds off the hands of Altoona to come back in the game.
Now you see Rodney Brown going out, taking his first breather for the final 80 seconds of this first half.
Zach Moore, that is the first field goal for Brunswick in the quarter.
They had missed their first six shots.
Meantime, Altoona not exactly burning up the nets.
They're three for 14, but enough to cut it back down to five.
Just a few moments ago, back at seven now to that basket by Moore.
For that I feel they whip it around the arc inside prevent Swanson his shot contested Butler then stays with it and puts it in He's working the boards right there Buccaneers you make a stop right here like the energy right there by Justin Evans.
Number four less than 20 seconds to play in the half.
Lampkin on the drive No place to go with it He stepped out It's a big defensive stop right there for Altoona.
You got your stop Everybody down on the bench just now to go to the locker room, put down the three.
Now, you frustrated him with your defense.
You got him into a lot of dribbling and not much passing.
And when you dribble a lot that eventually you're going to turn it over.
And they did.
That's a thing of it.
As as an offensive team you most teams defensively don't want to play defense.
We're all going to 15 seconds of fun in Altoona but really staying with it.
And again, Justin Evans was a big part of that up front on the ball, having 6 seconds in the half.
Not sure they know it.
Ramsey With 2 seconds, someone's got to take the shot and they won't get run off.
I don't quite know how much time was left.
They wasted that final possession, not even get a shot off on the final possession when they had a chance to cut it below five at the break.
But they had to battle back as much as ten down at the end of the first quarter to make it a five point game.
At the break, they held Brunswick to one field goal in seven attempts in that second quarter and turned them five times as we throw it to San Fran Shaw.
Sam with Coach Carter, thoughts about the first half and what your team was able to do early in this game?
Well, we started off great.
You know, we were able to get it where we needed it to and in our team, we just turned it over and let them have some quick run there to hurt us there.
But we just got to keep playing.
I think we're nervous a little bit.
Seems like your size was a big advantage for you.
Talk about what you got to be doing the second half.
You got to get it to them.
You got to get it inside.
They're killing us off.
Well, we're out here trying to help the ball.
They're smaller and our more ball handlers out front and get in denial.
So we've really got to work on passing the curtain.
Little less dribble.
All right.
Good luck to you.
Second half.
Thank you That is Coach Turner from Brunswick.
We're at halftime.
Brunswick leads Altoona 20 to 17.
Now let's go to Mark Sam Crenshaw.

Welcome back to the major policy above the back to our TV news coverage of the DHS eight Boys and Girls basketball championships.
We are live in Macon, Georgia, and we are at the half of the fourth and final game of this second day of competition in Brunswick Legion 2217 over altitude.
Quite a have so far.
Mark Yep, that's been a great half so far and there's lots of talk about it on social media, of course, and let's see what some of those people are saying, some of what you guys are saying.
I hope I can get my wire to stretch where he needed to go.
All right.
Stay with me.
Okay.
Here we are.
All right.
So like I said, we want to see what all of you are saying as you're watching at home.
First, we have a tweeter named John C Richards Jr, a proud Brunswick High alum, watching the game all the way from Chicago.
Mark and I love to with you guys where everyone is watching from because you can watch the games live on TV, broadcast sports anywhere around the world, not just in the country.

All the games are live streaming online all weekend long.
Here with us.
And then we have been Willingham who says it's going to be a sword fight with the hashtag five boys state championship.
We've still got 16 minutes and one half to go.
And then the Altoona whoops basketball Twitter account says scalawags are alive in all caps and that's those are all their fans in the stands.
Obviously ready to go.
They've had a great time so far during the game.
And then this is our contest we have going.
It's the hashtag word for the win contest.
You think of a word, any word that comes to your mind.
It doesn't have to relate to basketball.
Submit it to us to submit it to us, as you can be sports on Twitter or find us on Facebook and we're going to select one of those words and give it to our game announcers.
And they're going to have to find a way to include it in the game.
So it's a contest really for both you and our announcers.
So you want to be the word winner for the day.
If you win and we use your word, you get a gift card to Mellow Mushroom.

Mark, I know you love similar mushroom pizza, don't you?
I love Mellow Mushroom Pizza.
You can take me there the show.
I'd love to.
Okay.
And it's great to hear about that Brunswick fan from Chicago.
My brother Jay is watching in Indianapolis.
So we got fans all over the country.
Watch.
And let's check out now our Georgia EMC scoreboard.
Three champions have been crowned today.
First off, it was the girls to a champion.
It was Wesleyan beating Holy Innocents 45 to 31 to win their 11th state championship in the Boys two eight championship game.
It was Seminole County beating Crawford County 7671 and the girls five eight championship.
Stevenson wins its third championship, 6556.
And right now at the Half, Brunswick leads Altoona 22 to 17 and now it's time for our career play of the game, presented by the technical college system of Georgia.

All right.
We've crowned seven state championship so far on this championship weekend.
We've got one more to go.
The boys five eight champion will be decided in the next 16 minutes or so, but then go to overtime.
But don't you go anywhere.
That's right.
16 minutes plus.
Maybe we'll see some overtime coming your way.
We've got Matt Stewart and Larry Smith with first half highlights and what to watch out for in the second half of the game right after this break.

But what do we really know about cancer?
Make no mistake, this is one of the most significant human challenges in our history.
Now, more than ever, there is reason for hope.
When you look at what's going on with cancer right now, it's stunning.
Cancer, The Emperor of All Maladies, five point lead, Brunswick.
As we get ready for the start of the second half, let's check in with Sam Crenshaw.
All right, Matt, here was Coach Parker's hook.
Coach, you had not the start you wanted to get off to, but it seemed like if things make some good make some corrections in the second quarter.
No, no, definitely not.
The start we got off to.
We gave up too many offensive boards.
We know one of the keys to win in this game is get to the free throw line and on the boards.
And we have not done a good job of that.
We've shown some light the second half or the end of the first half, and hopefully we'll continue that in the second half.
What was the conversation like in the locker room?
Well, same thing.
We got to stick with our weak side, not getting good help.
We got to make sure we're rotating down there, block out, and we've got to take the offensive glass and we've got to take the basket to the free throw line.
You know, we're sitting around watching too much on offense.
We got to continue to take the glass.
All right.
Good luck to you.
Second half.
Thank you.
All right.
We're safe.
All right.
Thank you, Sam.
And one of the big challenges for Allen in this ball game to control the bigs for Brunswick, they did not they were not able to do that in the first half, although they did a little bit better job in the second quarter.
Larry, as we take a look at the halftime highlights, Brunswick with a 14 to 5 advantage points in the paint.
Yeah, there's no question about it.
And getting things started was Roger Davis.
You know, listen to Marcus Hood.
I agree with everything he said.
There it is.
It is the talk about the first half and then inside the big man, Kimani Dunham doubts Roger Davis with the Seven Points.
Dunham with the big dunk there.
He had four points but was a presence defensively, too.
He stopped his man, Rodney Brown, for most of the game, but finally, late in the first half, he finally gets going with the three buckets there.
Brown leading the team with eight points.
When you take a look at the first half stats, really look at altitude and what they're shooting from the field from three and at the free throw line and you're only down five at the half.
There's a little bit of a victory there for you.
The big statistical difference is in the free throws and Altoona has been able to get to the free throw line.
They just have not taken care of business when they got there.
They're minus six in free throw makes to Brunswick at Farm Bureau of Georgia.
Thanks so much.
Respond to those halftime stats right there.
But again, look at, again, some of those numbers, 9% from outside, only 27% from the field, seven of 26.
And that was actually up from what it was at one point the second quarter.
So Brunswick starts on offense.
They lead by five.
They scored only five points in that second period, inbounds in the shot contested and blocked by Rodney Brown back the other way.
And we have a traveling call.
Well, that's tough.
Big momentum play there on defense that we've talked before again altitude on defense has done a very nice job.
It's the offensive end.
You get a chance for a run out with two men playing back.
Here's the block.
One more look at it.
Oh, boy.
Nice clean off.
Yeah.
Robby Brown, looking good right here in front of us here.
And almost another steal right here by Duke's popped up into the air and stolen by Prevent.
Well, they had Brown open underneath and missed him.
Dooms puts it on the floor and he got stripped.
Heck was the guy who got his hands in there, knocked it away.
Active hands defensively for both sides here in the opening minute of the second half.
Inside, Dunnam goes up against Brown and Brown doesn't fouling just lets him have the basket seven point lead for Brunswick chimichangas pass inside knocked away from Dunham now trying to find Brown Brown wasn't ready for it.
Davis whips it inside for Heck contested by Swanson.
Dunham keeps it alive on the offensive glass.
It puts it in Dunham with four quick points here to start the quarter, and he's got eight.
Allen Tuna's turned it three times here in less than 2 minutes.
SWANSON Wild shot way off the mark and lost out of bounds Last touch by Lampkin to watch Brunswick here working underneath good look right there He can't get that to go ball tipped around and come on Donald the big sophomore put it home eight points for him already and they're going to pack that zone in as long as they're not hitting three pointers.
And again, one of 11 from outside the arc for Altoona, that zones aren't going anywhere with numbers like that.
Davis another rebound had it stolen away and a foul is called on Lampkin Nelson Dylan Ramsey to the line and we'll look at this again good active hands defensively Wow Looked like he got all ball must have got him with some of the body or something Ramsey at the line Ramsey only averages two points a game you know again now you're two of eight from the line very quickly Coach Hood going to his bench Evans back in Ramsey back in now here at the line two of nine from the free throw line that will get a bad feeling they're going to look back on that stat and this night is over.
I have a lot of regrets.
DAVIS Right.
Today he's got nine now and Coach was calling it 22nd time.
Now, not only he missed it, two free throws, they don't get back on defense and look around very sleepy in transition and late to the plate basket right there by Brunswick Brunswick.
It scored the first six points in the quarter.
They've opened up an 11 point lead on Altoona and at the heart of our community are the businesses that don't skip a beat.
George's Electric membership cooperatives stand behind local commerce, whether keeping farms running or shining a light on new ventures, We bring business large and small to our communities, creating jobs, driving development, supporting dreams.
Georgia's EMC is powering our businesses, leading the way.
2 minutes, 25 seconds into the third quarter and Brunswick's opened up their largest lead of the game.
At 2817 this April, GPB will premiere American Experience last days in Vietnam.
This multi-award nominated production is riveting, wrenching and will leave you wondering why did I not know more about all of this?
Don't Miss American Experience Last Days in Vietnam, premiering Tuesday, April 28th on GPB, Brunswick started the quarter three for six, Altoona oh for two with three turnovers and their free throw shooting woes continue as they now have seven misses out of their nine credit.
This Brunswick zone, it's just like a spiderweb around the lane down here, tying up the star player, Roddy Brown.
Oh, what they weave on defense Sherman gun off back arm length in the rebound some manga steals it away missed by Ramsey Little in the basket Gravity Yep Prior to that flurry of misses they were shooting less than 27% for the game.
Here goes it.
A 13 point lead from Russell trying to get dangerous right now.
You've got to do something on offense.
Finally get the ball into Rodney Brown's hands and let them work.
The problem is he's got the big six six Dunham on him.
You've got the perimeter.
Yeah.
You got to pull him out to the perimeter and bring Dunham out of that zone.
The guarding Rodney Brown airball first.
Look at this right now.
Again, here's a drive here.
By heck, nice job of getting inside.
A lot of white shirts right there with nobody contesting that.
Johnny just lives right right through Jimmy tough also for Ellington on offense that nice momentum you had in the first half you've now lost already here in the opening minutes.
The second man trapped by Altoona turns almost into a turnover as Ramsey nearly came up with the steal.
Ramsey's giving him a little bit of a defensive lift since he came into the ballgame.
They just need more of it.
Yeah, they gambled for the steal.
Inside.
It goes to Davis.
And Davis got fouled by Rodney Brown, so Brown picks up his second personal foul and that'll be the second team foul on Altoona for Roger Davis hitting close to a double double already seven points and nine rebounds and now three for five at the foul line.
Chris Turner told us the big key for Roger Davis this season and they get to stick in after the Miss 15 point lead for Brunswick.
Altoona is in some deep water right here.
Well, nothing's working right now.
Again, this is all you can see right now.
They're matching up.
Evans Ramsey flies in, tries to steal the rebound.
Brown got the rebound.
Misses Dunham ahead to Davis getting more more misses Davis puts it in 17 point lead for Brunswick.
They have doubled it up They have outscored Altoona 12 to nothing to start this third quarter.
Yeah Brunswick right now just much more active on the offensive end and again once here Davis with the mask but right there that's actually looked like it was actually Rodney Brown the tip the Altoona trying to get over.
Yeah I think Rodney Brown had an own goal right there.
Yeah.
Then here another and it's Roger Davis right place puts it right back in with the soft touch right there on the other end.
Altoona you mentioned can't get anything going at shooting wise.
I mean numbers right now is atrocious.
They're under 25% shooting for the game.
No field goals here in the second half.
You've got to do something different right now because Rodney Brown's your go to guy.
He's a bottled up.
It's been a great effort defensively by Brunswick.
Again, we talked about the spiderwebs zone defense there inside to lock him down when he comes outside trying to pull him outside, he pulls down his weapon.
What do you do that you got to swing the ball and try to work it inside with a shot blocker out of the paint just to get something going right now, just get a basket to get your mojo back.
Brunswick Flipping them on the boards 20 to 16, they've outscored 20 to 8 in the paint, ten five points off turnovers.
And Rodney Brown in Altoona in some serious trouble now is that shooting percentage a woeful less than 25% they're over six in this quarter, right?
Brunswick six for nine and threatening to blow this thing out and making the fourth quarter a moot point.
It's been to Ellington a right now getting beaten Bolton to the court.
They've done a nice job in the second quarter defensively and now that's going away with all the second chance points.
But the pirates have come up with trying to find Brown.
They can't get it to him.
It's a shot blocker again, makes things happen.
Evans dishes off to Brown.
Brown had his shot contested then and done both There and Dunn and finally comes up with the loose ball and gets it ahead the heck heck on the drive missed the layup Brunswick gets it back next to Dunham in the paint had in strip Davis Wow And they just can't keep Brunswick off the glass Dunham Right there ten points now for Dunham Well done.
He's got a big difference.
Again, look at the shots he altered not only on the on the perimeter there by Evans, but once Brown did get the ball inside change his shot again is another shot dismissed prevent open look in the paint and 19 point lead for Brunswick It was a five point game at halftime and Dunham I think may have gotten hit the mouth Yeah watch this right here again the big guy inside.
That's actually the other shot that just happened just now.
That's Roger Davis.
But again, he's long and athletic.
He's got a nice reach.
But the big, big man, Dunham, taking an elbow inside.
Boy, that's looked like he got his teeth rearranged a little bit.
I don't know.
Maybe.
I think maybe he bit his mouth.
That is that his lip?
Yeah.
That's.
Embraces their call to the orthodontist on Monday morning.
Well, with him out of the game, let's see what kind of difference it makes for Davis.
The Miss Good defense by Roger Brown.
And the foul is going to be called on Brunswick.
This will be on Heck.
That'll be number three on him.
Third team foul on Brunswick got him getting some attention might have even been hit in the mouth possibly the braces inside.
Maybe a cut.
Yeah he's being tended to right now by the trainer it's you look at him right there he unstoppable and what a difference he's been on both ends of the court the pirates.
I suggest Allen to to take advantage of his absence.
Absolutely It's a different game without him.
Robert Altoona still firing blanks foul on the floor.
This will be on if Lou second team foul on Allen tune in the first all night Phil Campbell comes back in will try to get their three point shooting game charged up here they missed ten of 11 three point attempts.
You know I think the first one was the first one they attempt.
It wasn't a big game.
Yeah, they I believe they missed ten in a row.
Inbounds comes to head he's tied up underneath and the possession arrow points in favor of Altoona.
Here's a shot right here.
Here's one.
Here's where Donovan got hurt right here.
You see out the elbow in the mouth right there from ground.
Brown goes at Davis, shot an over the rim and a tie up possession arrow now pointing in favor of Brunswick.
And Dunham's ready to come back in Altoona was not able to take advantage of his absence.
He didn't stay out very long.
That's for sure as well.
Brunswick seven for 15 shooting while Altoona is old for nine.
You're a Buccaneers fan.
Just a disastrous third quarter right here and held scoreless scoreless quarter to go inside Dunn doing what he got done in the 12 team high honors for Dunham.
Now eight of them have come here in the third quarter for that region.
Foul is going to be called on Brunswick.
This will be on Lampkin and that'll be number three on him.
One more on the other end here.
That last basket there by company.
Dunham just checked back in the game and always is what he does right here You got to respect Roger Davis and what he can do.
Davis troubles the defender.
Brown leaves Dunham open for the bucket.
You mentioned 12 points already.
Here's the tough part.
You can't hit field goals.
You can't hit free throws and they can't hit nothing right now.
Yeah, two for ten at the foul line, both over three in this quarter.
First point of the third quarter and it comes after 7 minutes of play.
Davis Just travel.
Well we know this altitude is going to have to have a big comeback.
They're going to have to score more points in the fourth quarter than they've scored in the first three in order to win this game.
That's right.
Throw that first field goal he had for 7 minutes and 20 seconds.
They're on a301 go to Davis.
Davis inside and a double team and dribbling it off his foot of the defense right there.
So if you're Altoona, come down here.
He's got a chance to score with 17.9 and finish the quarter with five consecutive points a little something to hang your hat on going into this fourth quarter.
Nice job there by Randy Legros, number 25.
And Bradley was up there on the double team Campbell, long shot and the 3 seconds, they got it back, they throw it away and then at the buzzer, Cravat hits the rim.
Disastrous, horrendous third quarter for Altoona nothing went right Brunswick out scores of 16 to 3 and has an 18 lead as we head to the fourth quarter.

Oh, thanks.
Here you go.
One hamburger, medium well.
This is well done.
No, no, no.
That's medium well.
What are you calling me?
A liar?
This thing is practically brown.
That's it.
You're not going to come to my house and tell me how to cook a hamburger?
You wouldn't do it.
They're crazy, so don't do it here.
Sportsmanship.
It's up to you.

GHC State Basketball Championship weekend only on GPB.
Hi folks.
Butch Miller from Milton Martin Honda in Gainesville.
We want to wish all the teams in the state playoff the very best of luck.
And if you think Milton Martin Honda is a proud sponsor of Georgia High School athletics, you got that right.
Oh, Altoona needing a big fourth quarter comeback after being held to three points in the third quarter, turning what was just a five point deficit into a 18 point deficit.
You see Kimani Dunham between the quarter.
Wow.
Look at that.
Pull his teeth back up.
Two front teeth were knocked back racing him in that Cut the mic, pull, pull on me mic.
How about this?
Altoona has taken eight more field goal attempts.
Make it nine more field goal attempts and scored seven less baskets than Brunswick is another.
Brunswick has more points in the paint finale two and a half points, 30 to 20.
We've had three single digit scoring quarters.
Altoona was seven in the first, Brunswick, five in the second, Altoona, three in the third.
You're Allerton, you got 8 minutes left in the season.
You got to give it all you got back through the basket counts It's all a charge before the basket No basket but heck is called for the foul and that's number four on him.
Ronnie Brown not on the floor right now for Altoona, your star player the drive by Evans kick to Campbell Campbell first basket for Campbell Altoona scored five consecutive points.
They still have a big mountain to climb a foul called on Evans that'll be the third team foul on Altoona Here comes Brown back in the game Quick breather Brown eight points and five rebounds in this game he averages 13 and seven league ROWSEY will come out Dunnam put it on the floor and he kicked it out of bounds.
After Schumacher reached in there and scripted Yeah, great double team right there.
Great play defensively on The Big Man, Good coaching, good strategy.
But here's the issue.
They've made these stops the entire they just can't convert them into points on the other end if you thought if you told them ahead of time a real hold runs to 38 points to Three corners, they'd be thrilled.
Campbell three off the mark.
Swanson tries to save it saves it to the wrong color Jersey long pass for Lampkin and he got fouled by manga three foul on Nemanja You know talking to Marcus good the other day and he said they've got to saying tights not right it's what he tells his players their players right now are tight you can see it in their shots There's just no rotation they can't get it to go with each missed shot.
You're going to see their shoulders slump.
Very frustrated.
It takes them out of their game Heck right down the middle of the jam by Davis He caught it off the rim and threw it back down to manga tries to answer with a three Swanson had his shot rejected by Davis and Davis getting it done on both ends.
Oh boy.
I tell you what.
What would you have let us in right here?
Up and boop raising the roof off this place and Macon and then the block on the other end as well.
What a game he's having tonight tonight.
And a foul on the floor.
A foul called on Dunham Brown inside to Evans.
He's got no place to go with it and then lost it out of bounds.
It was out of bounds and that he touched it laughs Oh again, you talk about the difference a shot blocker can make, and that's an example right there.
Evans is inside.
He's doing all done.
Dunham He doesn't want to get close to rise.
I don't blame him.
Right.
That doesn't doesn't get to them.
Davis does.
How about Davis in a dunk a block and then a 321 point lead for Brunswick Brown inside by Davis.
Another board got stripped momentarily and got it back.
Well, how many of those have we seen as well?
Brown is right there point blank and can't finish.
And a foul is going to be called on Altoona.
It'll be on Sherman.
Gun number four.
What can he do?
You don't have any answers right now.
Roger Davis, the game he's having both ends the senior men's teamwork right there.
That's the view that we have right Donald the spin move.
Dunham with 14 Brown got stripped by had to the corner and more more hustle score gets it back knocked away by Vivek Roger Brown milking with frustration right there Nice finish by the senior Yep The first Altoona player to get to double figures He's got ten Davis strip from behind by good punch another three miss this one by Perry one three pointer made by Altoona in this game it was the first one they took out and fortunately most of them are not even close.
That was way short.
But again, inside you've got the shot blockers great presence defensively for Brady.
But how about the night the live for Davis he's having 18 points 13 rebounds, three blocked shot and one spectacular highlight dunks couple of blocks in there too Brown Another shot contested and blocked Lob it up top Just missed another spectacular dunk Evans coast to coast and lays it in Nice play right there by Evans A lot of energy off the bench here for this Buccaneers team on time and ball by Marcus Hood and Altoona Brunswick has outscored them 25 to 9 since halftime Wow Roger Davis again the star of the night Look at what he's done.
There's the thunder dunk right there.
One of the highlights of the entire weekend.
No question.
The block on the other end run out of the dunk And then here he is jumps up with a three He's long and athletic on defense he burn to inside as one of the two big shot blockers that's altered every shot Allerton opportunities trying to take the paint it just hasn't happened for him I think I want it I think the number is close to ten, maybe 12 points inside the paint for Altoona.
Offensively, he's gotten it done six points in the first quarter, one in there, five points, second quarter, four in the third, seven in the fourth.
For his total of 18 points, 13 boards, four blocks, four assists, 1150 career points for the senior forward, a career average of ten rebounds and three blocks per game.
And it looks like in his final high school game of his career, he's going to lead Brunswick to their first ever state championship in the 48 year history of the school.
Well, he's a special player for coach Chris Turner.
This Brunswick Pirates program well-deserving and they can close out the final 314 here and what he's meant to this program he's got it just a nice bounce nice athletic within the framework what they're trying to do on both ends less than 3 minutes to play foul is going to be called Perry number to make that number one on him.
Roger Brown will come out of the ball game and a tough night for him and the entire team.
One of their highlights this evening was Brown on the breakaway dunk and he'll get a standing ovation from the Altoona side as he goes to the bench for the final time, likely in his career.
Rest of the starters coming out as well.
Some of the reserves getting a chance to say they played in a state championship game here in Macon.
Got to figure that Altoona is going to be back, though, 81 in 12 in their last three seasons of five, basketball 58 and oh in region regular season play for the last four years they flirted with getting to the final four the last four years in the Sweet 16 in 2011, Elite eight in 2012.
Sweet 16.
In 2013.
Elite Eight again last season going 29 and two finally broke through this year.
But Brunswick just way too strong, way too powerful inside.
And Altoona could not throw the basketball on a lake.
They couldn't.
And you have to really wonder if you just had your shot, what kind of different game this would be.
Credit to Brunswick defense.
But at the same time, some of these shots were not contested from the outside as another missed three pointer.
Ty Goodrum, he's a sophomore.
Trey Dooms was on earlier freshman starter.
You got some players coming back.
CHAPMAN They had a nice game early on.
They hit the only pointer Dalton managed.
He's a junior.
He comes back tough moment and then Altoona bench You work so hard to get here on the other side.
