He's coming in.
It's a slam jam.
The pull up from three.
Watch this guy go wheel drive, backs it in and gets it.
Prime time basketball here on GPB, the Final four on day two of championship weekend.
They'll five a state championship on the line.
The red elephant from region eight versus the Miller Grove Wolverines from Region six Gill Tyree along with Herb White and Herb we take a look at this basketball game here tonight.
A dandy of a game.
Let's start with the red elephants from Gainesville.
Well, as we talked about a little earlier, it took them a little time to get going because of football.
But once they did, they have been cranking it out pretty good and they've won a lot of close games, very similar to some of the other teams we've had here.
So, again, they probably would love to get this thing down to a close game at the end and feel like they can pull it out.
Okay.
And of course, this is a team that started December 22nd, one in six and waited to the football guys got back and then they've been on a roll ever since.
Four Miller Grove, four in a row.
Can they make it five swarming.
And Miller Grove's been on a roll for what, five years now?
No doubt about it.
They can they can win another one.
They could beat teams in Georgia.
They beat teams all the some of the better teams around the United States.
They play a national schedule every year, so they go up against great competition.
So it's going to be a monumental task for this Gainesville team.
But I got a feeling they're up to it.
All right.
Starting line ups are ahead.
And our final game here tonight, the five eight title on a great state of Georgia.
All the line Gainesville versus Miller Grove.
Starting lineups in the tip of the sun.
GPB All right.
Back here in Macon, awaiting the tip between Gainesville and Miller Road, Gil Tyree.
Herb White Let's start with the red elephants of Gainesville.
He steps out for us.
Well, they've got a they're really a well-balanced team, but Kyrie Hammer is about 17 points per game and he's their senior leader.
Let's take a little shot.
Shotgun control.
You're right.
I'm going to go red elephants.
And on the other side for Miller.
Grover Yeah, there you go.
The aforementioned Kyrie.
It's getting late and geezer Hood strikes Perry Hammer, as I just mentioned, 17 points a game and he's a senior leader, six four He's a swing guard.
Now let's meet the third member of our crew tonight.
He's had a busy night curl curl calls that long girls game.
He's here with us doing sideline smell.
It's all yours.
Thank you.
Good evening to you.
And Herb talked to head coach Todd Cottrell of the Gainesville Red Elephants about what it's like to have these football players on his roster after that one in six start.
And he said it seemed like a natural thing to have them there because they've all played together ever since they were little kids.
So having all of that influence there from being playing from little all the way up to now was a natural.
Also, the fact that they played for a state championship makes them ready for a situation like this.
So they're doubly ready to go after that state championship against the big bear in Miller Grove.
Back to you guys.
Let's take a look at the starting lineup brought to you by Regions Bank.
It's time to expect more.
We start with Gainesville, where you got Trey Harrison, a senior guard, Deshaun Watson, the quarterback.
He's a junior guard.
Luke Moore is a senior guard at three guard lineup.
Shaquan Cantrell is a senior forward and chasing when the other senior forward.
And on the other side, Miller Grove.
They're starting lineups here tonight brought to you by Regions Bank.
It's time to expect more.
Well they're a little different lineup.
They've got one guard in Keith Pinckney and then they got James Walker at a forward.
Earl Bryant at a forward and Kyrie hammered forward.
And then they also have a post man and Omar Venable our Gainesville teams here tonight brought to you by T CSG learn more earn more whether you want to stay in the game early if you're Gainesville going up against the perennial power like this.
We saw what happened in the last game.
Team got down early and they couldn't come back.
And then you want to try to control the tempo if you can have this Miller Grove team and for Miller Grove, well, they want to make an early statement.
They want to come out and say, Hey, we're the champions and we're going to play like it.
And then they've got to play hungry.
You can't get you know, you've won several championships.
You can't bask on your laurels.
You got to come out and play like it's the first one.
All right.
Our officiating crew here tonight, Terrance Isom, Willie Crosby and Jason Todd.
Will you get a look at the well, best man, but he's in a suit tonight.
Chas White, head coach of the Miller Grove Wolverines.
And I believe it's not the best job coaching job since he's been at Miller Bruce, no doubt he's a great coach.
And, you know, talking about Gainesville, I'd like to give a little history is a lot of old timers.
Dos Guillen back in 83 and 84, Coach Jerry Davis from Gainesville went 59 and one over two seasons, won two state championships and he went 30 and oh, and one of those seasons.
So Gainesville has got some basketball history.
Todd Kidwell, the head coach for the Gainesville Red Elephants, I love that sweater.
And he told me that he'd heard from Coach Davis this week.
Good.
You know, those are the kind of great things that young coaches like do.
When you hear from a great mentor like Jerry Davis.
And I'm sure that Coach Bruce Miller, the outstanding head football coach at Gainesville, watching us here tonight, as well as the noted televangelist Jensen Frank, were the part of the Florida Elephant nation up in Gainesville.
And they love their sports up there.
You know, I'll be checking out at halftime, Joe, because I have to be back at the old folks home by 1045.
And we're running really late this evening, so we'll have to call in a Kevin may have to take over for me.
Well, I keep the light on for you.
Oh, okay.
Okay.
All right.
Well, that's a warm milk.
And a piece of pie would be nice, too.
And of course, the the girls Game one by Southwest.
The cats.
Happy to see Kathy Walton back in the winner's circle.
Ran a little long quality start over to Coast Guard tip time back.
And of course, I want to say hello to Buck Godfried.
He is in retirement right now, part of the Great Southwest.
The cat family.
I'm sure he's watching and rooting Kathy Walton on.
They're very close friends and I'm very proud of them here tonight.
I'm sure one was proud of their accomplishments.
We're about ready to tip it up here.
Our final game for Gainesville in Red Miller Grove and lavender and white off the run out.
And the layup is in some way for Tyree Amer giving us a little groove.
749 Early on That's Trey Harrison across the timeline, but we're on the right side too.
Sean 12, ten, 12 and 12 pumps it down low.
The ball is stolen away to Willow Grove with it and at the controls right now, Earl Bryant weaving his way off the glass and I miss the rebound Control by Chase England Trey Harrison across the time line fumbles with it but gets it across the the circles pressure on Luke Moore and drive and is to Sean Watson off glass and the rebound is controlled by number 33 Venable if you heard Deshaun Watson you're absolutely right the quarterback who also plays basketball for Gainesville.
And John, we'll talk more about that as the evening progresses.
The Miss shot by Miller drove the outlet and getting the lay lamb up and in for James though as Luke Moore came in this basketball game averaging over 11 points a game 2 to 633 in the opening period and both teams have opened up man to man.
And Pinckney's picking up full court for Miller Grove, putting some pressure on getting the ball to come down and missed it.
Turn around they get the rebound and also the runner it's no good Hammer the rebound control by James Hill pushing it up the floor keeping that tempo going top of the horn is Harrison cutting loose and letting long with a three was Luke Moore the miss and the open floor as Miller drove the lay and just a little short and a tie up hammer had an on the bus stop but just couldn't get it down.
So you're telling me if Watson was as good a basketball player as is a football player, this game would be over already?
Most definitely.
I mean, I've got to tell you, you know, I mean, he did a number on work out and.
Oh, no doubt.
I mean, he's recruited by everybody.
You get to look at it.
An outstanding young man had a chance to get up to Gainesville and beat him.
And he's on Twitter, too.
He tweeted this afternoon that he was ready to rock and roll release shot from on we go the other way That's pick me first opportunity with the basketball shakes off as the defender goes over to Walker Walker over the hammer out to Donovan working on the perimeter right now Gainesville stuck in a tight man to man, weaving his way into traffic just thinking they get it down low to O'Brien for Miss on a chippy in the rebound controlled by the red Elephant's a little going the other way that's Harrison driving in and initiating contact gives Watson and the foul for Miller throw is really going after the guy once he gets the rebound for Gainesville they had two or three guys.
Let's see that charge.
Ah excuse me The BLOCK Island.
You know, sometimes if you try to stop the rebounder from getting the alley pass and he gets it out, you're going to get burned.
And they got a good look then.
So, you know, he might maybe make a token effort and then get back on defense because this game will team will get it up the floor.
And I think it's hours on some level.
And Watson makes two.
So it's 4 to 2 right now 504 the grove right now one of seven in terms of field goals.
Bill Tyree, Herb White, Jon Nelson, glad to have you with us here tonight.
Primetime coverage on GPB launching at three and it doesn't go down as hammer.
We go the other way and fumbling with the basketball and it goes out of bounds to it will stay with Gainesville Cantrell was there along with chasing one off the inbounds and the red elephant sets Watson down low to spin around move by England perimeter to control the miss over the top is Moore back outside to Harrison cutting loose and nailing a three is Watson are you kidding me?
Good looking.
He knocked it down.
I'm going to tell you something, Hammer goes after the ball on the boards like it's the last chicken leg at the church picnic.
I mean, he was about three five.
Watson was right in front of that Miller Grove bench.
He throws touchdowns and he launches three of these are white.
That was a great find there in the corner of the zone to for the Wolverines for England's all the foul and a of over run right now for the red elephants and just what you want to do against a repeat champions come out early and make a statement as the time line is quickly go thumbs up down low backing his defender in is number 12 James Walter Junior and we now go the other way as can throw double team still an obstacle approaches it out of bounds and try to create something here a little trouble credit the Miller Grove defense with the score Gainesville seven Miller Grove to 359 in the opening period and make making our final game on day two.
We'll be back after this with back here in middle Georgia 70 to the red elephants of Gainesville out in front of the defending champions the little girl Wolverines go to reload with her.
Right.
And Jon Nelson, did you know GPB has a Facebook page her white check us out and like us to be a part of the GPB sports family see behind the scenes pictures and get all the info about high school sports around the great state of Georgia like us.
And you will be in the know about all things high school sports.
And Herb White has said he wants to see Georgia get to 5000.
He got we're right at 3500 so you got 1500 to go And Herb White said he's going to stick around until we reach that 5000 number.
At least that's Mr. White.
Miller Grove hit their first shot.
They've missed their next eight.
And Gainesville, doing a great job on their defensive board, got eight rebounds to four.
So doing what they need to do so far.
Tariq Gilbert was able to penetrate and lay it up in end.
Seven four.
Now the lead of Gainesville now down to three 331 a day of opening period.
I can't pick that dribble up out there.
You'll get in big trouble.
That's Luke Maddox over to Watson who's launches a three get it rebound control by the Wolverines and they're full throttle straight ahead that's all to Rick Gilbert going up and nailing I love that here Stop on top seven six right now the lead for Gainesville, the one Maddox the sophomore to Watson.
The entry pass is almost stolen away two blocks and gets this backdrop baseline throw it away the turnover Miller Grove on the bus stop the lay it up and in by picking eight seven Miller Grove takes the lead.
Maddox has been struggling with that pressure that took his pressure and I believe I put it to the press so as to penetrate the kick, gets it back, takes it three.
They dump it down low going into traffic and laying that up video that was tailored.
Haymon And his mama emailed me a GPB, one of the football players, one of five on this basketball team.
Right now I'm watching a three year deal, but it's all climb and going up and trying to bring it down was hanging.
If they're going to get a bump on one of the Miller throw players over the third and the fouls on Walker it is for 3 hours and Maddox takes a seat right back in the game Is Trey Harrison a better ball handler right now and not disturbed by the token, pressure applied by Miller Grove Chop It's can't where he's got him inside it's a lot of 3 to 6 look over then Hammond back to control slithers his way in off the glass no good the rebound controlled and we go the other way that's ahead And a nice laying of glass with world wide in transition 10 to 9 right now Miller Grove by one 143 emails that brilliant five state championship on the line driving a baseline and a fall away as Watson tip up no deal and it's controlled by Miller roll in Walker for the Gilbert the alley the hammer in transition There you go you called it R I was talking about the tempo early on.
Gainesville has got to try to control a little bit because Miller Grove can score in bunches if you don't.
Those steps holding on right now.
That's Harrison Watson line extended launching jumper well oh rolled up and in was by Hammond South Pierce off the glass their lives that stuff that tend to grow on that basket by Gainesville under a minute 12 to 11 and exiting early on in the lane the third bucket olive grove retains possession Gilbert's touch up for three it's going to drive baseline slips and falls right in front of our cameraman.
Yes.
Okay.
You see the pictures right there?
You see first impressions in the first period.
Herbalife.
Well, let's take a look at that block again.
It was pretty emphatic.
Yes, right where the foul was on Hammond, the rejection went by.
Whoa, whoa.
Miller drove school shooting at first, but now they're getting some good looks off the break and control tech.
Obama slowing the ball down and that type of you control tempo by making sure you get quality shots at your end and making a high percentage that keeps the other team from getting a defensive rebound out.
I was one of nine seniors on this basketball team, 1411 Miller Grove's lead at 329 seconds to go to the clock, touch the top of your screen, running down Schor White and Miller Grove trying to get a fifth state championship.
They did it in four.
You have an opportunity to do it tonight in five eight.
Look for a high pick out here that's set up for the last opportunity and they'll break it down Harrison dribble penetration ball stolen away by Miller Grove and that's going to end the first period with the score Miller drove 14 and Gainesville 11.
We're going to take a break and we head to the second and we've got a dandy late night who's here holding the light on from Herbalife because he said he's going to go into the wee hours of the morning with us here on GPB.
We'll be back in Macon after this.
He's going to be a super hero.
Even if I tumble for the start of the second here and making the leading scorers after one for Gainesville, two Watson with five and four, Miller Grove Altieri Gilbert with six and you see him score 14 on 11.
We've cleared one.
Now let's head to John Nelson.
Nellie, thank you.
In talking with Sharr White about Miller Grove, we know about all the changes he had losing his entire starting lineup, losing seven players off of that roster.
I asked him, I said, okay, with all of these new faces and all of this adjustment, how long did it take to get comfortable with this new group as is?
And he actually said he wasn't comfortable with them and they didn't get into a group until the halfway point of the season.
Yes, they were winning games, but they weren't winning games the way that Miller Grove is used to winning them, probably just on athleticism going forward.
So halfway point and beyond.
Sure.
What's been comfortable with the Wolverines in 2013 and a piggyback off of what you said, Jim, and he feels he's done the best coaching job.
When you lose kids like Brandon Morris and Tony Parker to Georgia and UCLA is still being able to get it done and he's shedded the jacket.
And right now he has that vest and it's looking good on him.
1411 right now.
Gainesville with the ball struggling at the perimeter that's throw throw launching a three from the corner that this was a leap more and a rebound quarter and we have a whistle and a foul Irvin looked like he could control coming over the top correct or correct that that's England his second.
You want to piggyback on what John said about about that gentleman Sean?
Well, it's a perfectionist, there's no doubt about it.
Not Nelson.
I'm talking about Coach Whiting.
That's Gilbert The entry pass stolen away.
Trey Harrison working against Gilbert.
They get the clear on Luke Moore back over to Watson.
Deep on the left side.
He goes inside the lane, spins the kick and the nails by Luke, the right side.
And Moore had to slingshot that one up there.
He had somebody in his face, but he just pulled back an extra six inches and launched and launched it.
You're right.
And that knotted up the game at 14 our second time tonight.
And you were right here.
Boy that's going in a great piece of games, roads hanging around and playing with it and doing exactly that tempo.
The rebound in the groove retains possession and slither his way in, and getting the basket was a real on Richardson the freshman dominant impressive freshman hop step there wasn't 20 years ago till Dominique created it Gainesville dressed in red the visitor is watching a three and knocking it down and stepping that out.
It's Cantrell who came in, averaging at a 19.2 clip 1716 another lead change under 6 minutes until halftime.
Oh, John a John Nelson guilty range and herb wide Mark Harmon Gainesville down to a212 or two three matchup zone here.
We'll see if they can continue to rebound out of that Spinning his way and launching a one handed for Bryant and the rebound controlled by Gainesville they get it up tempo central back south four Watson fakes it's going to launch with three out of oh three threes in a row for the Gainesville Red 11.
He's an impressive athlete.
He now has eight started the opening quarter with five and the attack on a three easy math it's a509 to go 28 to 16.
The red elephants lead at four drive and is guilty of class and the miss and Gainesville with the ball and the Wolverines try to steal it away they got a jam and called a timeout just in the nick of time.
Well I tell you what Watson is all that.
This is his our last three.
We'll kick him out and find it.
Nice head.
Yes.
And launching it and count and knocking it down.
And that came on the trail of two other threes by Gainesville.
And they're doing exactly what they need to do, not just because they're knocking down threes, but because they're taking care of their defensive forward limits in Miller Grove pretty much to one shot and then coming down here and not being in a hurry.
They're just getting quality looks.
They're making the right pass, hitting the open man and getting results.
Now get a look at this, Sean Watson, and he's on.
Everybody's listening football.
And I'm telling you, he's going to be in some people's list in basketball, too.
You got to be impressed with that young man.
I like to get his thoughts on him.
He's, of course, the great quarterback for Georgia, one of my favorite bulldogs.
Just the way he handled that whole situation with David Green and playing and then coming in his senior year and doing an outstanding job, Watson launches another three and course D.J.
We'll be back on our broadcast coverage tomorrow.
We'll get a whole lot of duty working with Tommy Palmer and somehow he knows his basketball as he does.
But I can out right now from Miller Grove is Pinckney.
He's working up against Trey Harrison at the top of the horn.
And we have a turnover got out of power no offensive foul illegal pick their fifth round of free seconds right now I'm on Walker Maddox back into the game.
Maddox has got to be a little more assertive.
He was a little tentative out there at that point early on.
And you don't want to come in and kill the momentum your team's put up.
So he needs to go down there and be a little more aggressive on offense.
MADDOX Over to control for Watson, who launches a three in front of the Miller Grove bench, doesn't go the Wolverines the other way.
Oh, up and knocking it down is picking in game game one of 18.
I don't want to fall in love with the three girls.
You make a few in a row, you get you start to think you can make them all, but you can't keep Farnum Maddox over to control and throw struggling against a defender and dribbles it off his knee and it'll be Gainesville, Terrell to the timeout So with the score 2818 341 until the break and have that we're going to take a break here on GPB.
Glad to have you with us and make Macon we'll be right back after this beautiful cheer at 1922 18 at 341 until halftime.
You know, we talked about this Shawn Watson and basketball tonight.
How about this Shawn Watson and football and Herbalife.
He put on a show here on GPB in Gainesville the rumps over wear accounting in fact, Ed Dudley, I'm told by Jon Nelson, is still having nightmares over that game.
Look at that.
I've never seen a kid who lets the game come to him.
Well, there's a lot to be said for that in any sport.
Put him in the shotgun licks, plays with his arm and with his feet and spirit.
And it was a freak out of Gainesville over the Gators of way County here he is tonight in the huddle and so far he is knocking them down in front of the great bench.
The three of us step on our feet.
They had faith in launching it.
Tyler from a number four 2218 341 Well, again, Gainesville has come out and doing exactly what they needed to do.
Gil deliver a statement to Miller Grow.
We know you've won a bunch of state championships, but hey, we don't a player there, you know, we're not intimidated.
We want to take one back to Gainesville.
We're going to take it to the poultry capital of the world.
It's already got one championship up there.
MG Struggling in a half court set the perimeter launch by blight.
No good Gainesville in position and you got to travel and getting the happy feet was look more like more six foot senior averaging 11.4 coming in fifth turnover of the night where Gainesville outstanding job being done by our statistician Devin Barnes is struggling in that half court center.
Well I tell you what Gainesville is changing their defense.
I'm going to have to see what they're keen on if they make a basket, if they go zone.
But they were his own last trip down and they were man to man this time.
So I love a coach that changes up his defenses.
I think it keeps the other team guessing and off balance at a turnover and it goes back to the red elephants.
And you know, you talked about it about the fact that Gainesville continues to hang around.
They're not intimidated.
Now.
Miller Graham goes into a32 zone and kind of confused Gainesville on that session, three on three over the Swirsky fifth, making it tough.
I got entry for the wing first foul for all to Rick Gilbert Watson Miller Grove in that matchup zone Yep to a three man front it makes it tough to make the entry pass and launcher three.
One of the mark was Maddox.
They tried to get the rebound and a kid that you like Luke Moore hitting the board a six year that just hangs tough look at him relentless He's a solidly built young man and he'll go to the line for two.
That's his second on Venable and Moore, showing no fear as he goes in between those threes because Miller drove very long, a lot like Eagle Eagles landing last night, three point second opportunity, but they stand at 21 to 18.
It's the Wolverines with possessions that's quickly backing out for him against Moore.
They try to rub him off on a screen and he goes over on the right side to hammer it.
That's why.
And he lost it and put off the Gainesville Defender and Miller Grove with James possession trouble.
I've got to give a shout out to Donte Williams and also Brandon Williams from Miller Grove, of course.
Want to let them know that we're proud of them for that big win over Kentucky last night.
Good chance to work that in.
I know you would you Bulldog you were one came in on the foul his second foul Well they just happened to have played for Miller bro that's what brought it up I love that that sends Heyward to the line averaging just over 16 points a game and part of that bunch last year they won a state championship up at Gwinnett for the Florida classification.
And of course, that's Brandon Morris.
Brandon Williams, excuse me.
These are hood strikes once more.
Come on now.
You still got it.
I do it a sensible hours, whatever.
And we're always glad to have you with us.
Pretty much wisdom and much love to the program.
That's Watson's button up for three ball smart rebound control by the red outfits Avon the kids more to see drives hangs out at four Got to be impressed with that young man No violation all ago he has eight more games to play and smart and really good shooting ahead and ball fake in Miller Grove taking the fake and it's cost him on several occasions so with the turnover they'll trigger in the inbounds the red elephants retain possession and get it past the dump down to Hammond squirms his way and loses it.
But his teammate Moore bails him out, struggles with it.
They go out tough game and drives, launches along and off glass.
Well, off to red elephants.
Yes.
625 to 19.
Under a minute to go.
Skip Gary was one threw up a prayer and it was answered.
The double team quickly able to recognize it and back it up.
Being harassed by Maddox, You don't want to foul in that situation.
Yeah that'll that's five foul pass no sense and foul on right There's the last basket you got to like that huh?
Yeah.
Raymond Collin Bank.
The bank is open even at these late hours and make jump off the mark Butler level 11 three run four games in All right now they have an opportunity to increase it with a six point spread at 25 their 19 under 36 to go until halftime.
Mark Harmon, Kat Carney standing by along with Grace Olsen in our outstanding staff for GPB.
It's been a long day try to get inside on the baseline was Cantrell Harmon for fourth and also over there was Earl Bryant and they said it was all quiet so the Red Auerbach still confirmed and they're going to change it or they're going to change the Charmin White pointing out I'm working them refs got it.
And I'd look for Miller Grove maybe to play for one here, right?
25 to 19 Gainesville, trying to bring yet another state championship back to the poultry capital of the world.
Yeah, the football and one at of basketball.
The man who led them to the football got the rebound That's Watson off the bus that launches 100 most wasted and that's going to come to the conclusion of the second quarter and the first half with the score Gainesville 25 and Miller Grove 19.
Let's go to John Nelson standing by right now with Coach Cottrell.
Gentlemen, it's all yours.
Thank you.
Here with the coach, 11 three run to finish up the first.
Good way for you for the first 16 minutes.
Played pretty well in the first half really flat of our guys battling a lot of different things and it's all like we've been all year kind of ugly, but we're finding a way to be pretty successful.
And defensively you're kind of hamstringing them with all the changeups that you're throwing at Miller Grove right now, but the only chance we have.
So we're going to try to keep playing and hopefully we'll get some stops and make some shots, go get a second half.
Thanks for your time.
And then over to Mark Harmon.
Best seat in the house.
John, thanks very much.

We're at halftime.
The boys five state championship game, Gainesville and Miller Grove.
Joining us now, the principal at Miller Grove, Matthew Priester.
And you're back.
Yes, I tell you, talk a little bit more about what's going on here, because your school, your boys team has a chance for a little bit of history here.
They're going for five straight state champions.
Yes, a phenomenal task that we're trying to accomplish here today and tonight.
And hopefully we can pull it out right now a little bit behind, but hopefully we can get back together and come out here with a victory and do something that's up.
Seldom been done.
I've never been down here in the state of Georgia, so we're looking forward to it.
Let's talk about the job that coach Sean White has done with your program over the years.
Oh, I get the credit all to him.
I mean, his commitment and dedication to the program and the love that he has for the game and his kids and with the parental support that he gets each and every day, you know, only thing I do is support him in the program.
You know, whatever I can do to make him and his team better.
It's been a very exciting burden that back and forth up and down all over the place.
Yes.
Yes, yes.
Very exciting.
So nervous.
So hopefully we can pull this out today.
Dave, your fingers crossed.
Time now to play a guy who's smarter than your students.
A question from our Today in Georgia History project.
And your question is Bobby Cox, the Braves manager, holds a dubious distinction in baseball history.
Is he, A, the first middle aged, balding guy to wear a cap backwards?
B, Getting ejected from the most games.
C pine tar pitchers or D, pinch for stealing bases.
I think we all know that.
Number B.
Let it be.
He's been thrown out of a lot of games lately.
All right.
Well, listen, good luck.
Thank you.
Second half.
All right.

Time now it's time for our career play of the Game, presented by the Technical college System of Georgia.
Now, the field of information technology has grown rapidly over the past few decades, and it continues to add jobs to our economy.
Careers like computer programing, network administration and computer hardware engineering are vital to industries throughout the state.
There's also an increased demand for exciting careers in video and film production, including editing, animation and 3D graphics.
Now, that makes information technology a perfect fit for our career play of the game.
You know what?
This message was brought to you by the technical college system of Georgia.
You know what?
For more, log on to TS CSG dot edu for more tab.
What do you think it's the last game of the day.
Pretty exciting so far.
Pretty exciting.
You know what is my favorite song playing?
Yeah.
You like the Gangnam Style?
That's right.
They're about to rocket.
All right, well, Whomp and Gangnam Style ourselves.
Say it again.
Say it again.
Gangnam Style.
I kind of dig that.
Well, we're getting ready for the second half of the boys.
Five championship finals.
Millions of fans are dancing in the streets.
And we're back with the second half of this final jam of the day.
This one top Gear live at the Macon Coliseum, getting ready for the second half.
The boys five day state championship should be a great final 16 minutes of play.
Let's check in with Jon Nelson and Coach arm white Jon.
Thank you Mark here with a coach and you basically said it was more you than anything else.
It's just you weren't happy with the way things were going first out.
Yeah, I mean, I think I give credit to Gainesville.
They came out, they play, they played a lot harder than we are right now.
And you know, some of it's them, but a lot of us, us, you know, we're not showing the kind of composure that we know we have.
And I think our guys understand that.
I think, you know, we had a good talk back there in the locker room that they, you know, we're going to come out and we're going to give a lot better effort, you know, and try to play a little bit harder and we play and come out and try to make some things happen.
So how did you emphasize that point back in the locker room?
Just telling me, you know, this is what we're about.
We play hard for 32 minutes regardless of what the score is, and we only have 16 minutes left.
So we've got to go out and play hard and then for 16 minutes, if we want to have a chance at, you know, our fifth straight state championship, go get him a second half term.
It's our let's turn it over to Dillon her for a look at the third quarter, guys.
All right, John, thank you.
Very candid, charming, wide eyed, really telling it like it is.
And right now they're in a six point hole trailing 25 to 19 guilty rate along with Herbalife.
And we're glad to have you with us with our primetime coverage of the state five a state championship game between Gainesville and Miller Group.
First half highlights here of yeah, there you see Luke Maddox going in for the little chippy underneath the long three Watson again on the long three and four Miller Grove with penetration by Gilbert Nice hanging, huh?
And then in transition that's picked me off glass that was hammer and take a look at our first half stats brought to you by our good friends at Farm Bureau.
Georgia.
What jumps out at Mr. Herbalife?
Well the two things difference in the ball game right now and that's the rebounds Gainesville doing a great job on their defensive board and they have seven offensive rebounds and that's allowed them to get some three point looks and they're four for 14 No three pointers yet for Miller Grove.
But it's all about effort on the backboards and why was exactly right Gainesville just out fighting them right now and it's that's provided by West Georgia technical college unit of the technical college system of Georgia start of the second half in the third quarter Miller Grove with the basketball they trailed by 625 to 19 drive on the baseline with the reverse and a follow up is good and that's Walker optimistic by way good way to start the half from Miller Grove with the effort basket on the offensive rebound and then Maddox takes the long three maybe not what you want to do right off the bat but almost made it quickly work it against Harrison over to Bryant deep on the perimeter and Miller Grove trying to get into a halfcourt set that's big me dependable spot up jumper and the miss by Walker over the back and we got a player called over there by a 33 year old man that's about a whole story.
That's great effort but sometimes you got to know when to go after and when to back off, and that's hard.
Fouls can hurt his third foul on a junior, Omar Venable Gainesville up by four crossing the time line right now is Harrison over to England as Cantrell the bounce pass to England spinning around wheeling on Venable goes up Nice defense by Venable He gets the rebound and that'll start the Miller Robusto spotting up in the corner and launching a three and the miss numbers.
Let's hammer and you're right numbers could you get multiple options on that break And he picked a good one and Luke Moore capitalized on it he has ten now.
We apologize for auto difficult news.
Just stay with us here tonight for making a very technical true crew try to rectify and get it back to miss by pick me names with numbers on the open floor.
Getting back on defense was Earl played was the last faster.
He had three options and he picked the right one He was going strong, too.
I love that.
Good at better than one with that one, he got hit pretty good.
But Luke Moore is very, very impressive.
2721 for Sean Watson, a three no tip of no good.
The rebound control by the Wolverines and coming out of the pack is Gilbert.
He loses it guys on the floor and the Wolverines retain possession Pinckney drives and we have a stoppage in play and a whistle and a foul on one of his first fouls on Deshaun Watson his first 534 in the third quarter in Gainesville, and Miller Grove launching a long three in and out.
It was Hammond and we'll a little tighter in the second half.
England's fighting for the rebound here.
No much foul there, but it doesn't matter what I saw.
It's what the official saw in England.
Take a seat.
That's three for England.
He sits down and Hammond coming in to replace him.
Miller Grove still with it, and they're going to get the in one.
Oh, that's tough, right?
Yeah.
Gainesville had the rebound Let's see it here.
Had it in their hands and lost it and bounced.
Miller drove bingo up.
It was a foul on Moore, his first row with the side.
Let's keep an eye on Gainesville and see how many times they change defenses in this quarter.
If they do.
Right now, they've just been straight up man to man.
Brad with an opportunity to complete a three point play does not the rebound by Hammond double team but is able to get it away but before that nine something three foul was called against Salisbury Gilbert officials are calling things the second closer in this half Coach Lloyd not happy working the refs like he's been all night pressure by Miller Grove Gainesville struggling with it got a layup so they got it ahead off the glass and nice move by Cantwell so shift one can throw back 29 to 23 and Miller Grove right back with the ball knocked out of bounds the Wolverines will retain possession.
Here's a basket here Squatch Cantrell on the Banker.
As you said, the banks are open even that late 11:00 late hours here and make it a little Georgia making a deposit.
Yeah we'll around in the lane get to the goal is hammered 29 to 25 travel with turnover the travel on chuckwagon 1012 and the Wolverines get it back urban freshens right now for the third quarter Miller Grove trying to turn the heat up a little bit defensively trying to get on the offensive boards a little more so just like Coach White said, let's get some more effort out there.
We'll pick a fight and after the Thunder have taken it to the rack, let's see how Gainesville reacts now.
Wolverines with him to back up the floor.
Nice move by watch and gets it to go up and down 31 to 27 Watson with ten for 25 in the third quarter.
Again, we apologize for the audio difficulties here in Macon.
We try to rectify that.
We're glad to have you with us here on GPB.
Launching in three was Gilbert.
The Miss gets his own rebound to the rack and up and in a nice follow no box out by Gainesville and Gilbert able to capitalize but Gainesville right back up the floor and can travel off glass 33 to 29 slithering his way through and a crazy shot was hammer the ball's control by Harrison straight ahead.
And what is the call curve I didn't see you waiting to see but last two times down the floor, Gainesville has gone back to that zone defense.
So I don't know what the key is on because they didn't score and they still went to the zone.
But Coach Cottrell time out with 344 left in the third 33 to 29, the red elephants with a four point spread.
We'll be right back in middle of Georgia after this late night basketball here in Macon.
James formation come on down here, the middle Georgia supporting their red elephants third quarter field goal percentage is right now Gainesville 47 Irv and Miller throw five of 13 you're in freshman so are you going to shoot a pretty good percentage when you're shooting layups?
And I think three or four of those hoops for the red elephants have been layups.
They do a great job of getting that ball up the floor and they got several guys that can finish around the rack.
So they're doing a good job holding Miller Grove off Miller Grove.
And, you know, you come out, you put all that extra effort into it and give a lot of energy and, you know, you want to try to get back and get that lead.
And if you can't, sometimes it can be an emotional letdown.
We'll see what happens over the next few minutes here.
The red elephants retain possession.
John Nelson was right, dead eagle spotting on the side and it was off of Miller Grove so Gainesville retaining possession and you just saw more on the inbounds there working around to Harrison took control of class and lays it up and in and working against Hammer Well a smart play there I mean he's got four or five inches on his man and just took it right to the rack on 35 to 29 spotting up and missing in the three There's pick me on Walker try to get the rebound and a win off a red elephant so the Wolverines will retain possession Gainesville collapsing on that zone when the ball goes in the middle of paint he could hit that shot and they can't collapse as much.
They got to pay attention to the playing inside the hammer and it was rejected out of bounds.
And MG still has the basketball rejected by committee?
What's yours?
Sherman White's been working the refs all night long.
Get a look at it right there.
Those Wolverines trailing by 635 to 29.
I'm going to hold up and play.
Looks like as the clock malfunctioned and they were off a couple of seconds.
So that's right.
Now at that three minute mark, they got it fixed and inside as quickly between the trees, 35 to 30 1 to 47, the third Harrison to Watson, the dump down to Cantrell working baseline to jump off Jesus good pass is smart basketball He's got size down there and strength and just go right back to him as quickly again inside and out doing everything he wants and more against look more more got to move his feet little quicker and he's got to have some help out front there.
You got to have some help on that drive from the head of the circle.
That's more a second team slump.
Also here you see it.
Plenty of time to come over and help there.
And that was just the old wave at him.
Easy lane violation.
Alabama, 37 to 33 full court pressure.
Gainesville doesn't appear to be bothered by this Maddox across the timeline you can't throw against him and a miss by Hammonds when the ball is 44 and diving out of bounds.
Ford was having another look at this think these guys don't want it?
Wow he gets a tendency his degree of difficulty was about eight the missed opportunity but Bryan gets his own rebound stays with it and it goes the ball.
Milagros getting back in this game the hard way the old fashioned way, just getting on the offensive board and sticking it back in here.
You'll see another one smirks this great effort by Bryant right there and that's about the third stick back foul in your own shot that Miller had his half and got to be a little for coach gotcha and that's a first look can throw wide to Sanders completes almost complete a three point play does it and getting the rebound was like Gilbert and it was blocked and we go the other way Maddox gets it stolen the wolverines with numbers and a layup tonight we're not enough At 37 the pressure is bothering Gainesville right now.
The trap and they still are bothered by it.
And we have a thumb drive.
It was tipped by the player.
They're not going to get the call.
And you're right he'll go It's got to a once a timeout and he wants to talk this over.
Yeah.
Needs to get his guys together.
No he's not calling timeout he's just saying the ball was tipped but they've got to do a better job on this press that's for sure.
And again Maddox looking a little shaky here in orange with the basketball.
No talk of the inbounds and there the ball stolen away by Gainesville.
That's Maddox.
We're going to bring it to coach in a minute.
Mark Jeremy Watson stumbling and staggering and moving inside and we get the call just out of control.
But James Walker bailed them out with the foul.
It was going to be a turnover for all to give Gilbert on the foul call.
It would have been a walking call if someone was running with the hips.
Watch it all.
Get two shots.
The first one is good and that breaks the tie.
38 to 37.
Gainesville is no idle for a play by play guy.
Also, they used to say, Hang on, brother and sister, we got another one brewing here.
Imagine.
Okay, now 39 to 37.
And he was a tech guy, by the way.
You love those tech folks, know you love the Gilbert and the perimeter.
Over to Bryant.
43 seconds to go.
That's Gilbert from inside the runner goes to reach out to Rick Gilbert with a nice penetration Maddox sets Watson to the lane lays it up strong no good rebound by Cantwell doesn't get it more Drew is with it 18 ticks to go pick me to the hole and and and Miller go with a two point lead at 41 to 39 6 seconds to go Cantrell with his roaming baseline the pull up and they get in front of their show otherwise you're like wow this is 76 Miller Grove with a first lead in this ball game in quite a while.
His second on Cantrell and Pinckney, the star of this third quarter with eight from Miller Grove.
And he heaves one and it's no good and that's the end of the third and the Wolverines under that gentleman Coach White have mounted a and they have taken the lead as we head to the fourth on the line the five a state championship for the great state of Georgia back in Macon after this one back here and making a big third quarter for keep me here eight.
He now leads Miller Road with 12 and the other side is Sean Watson with 12 and Miller Road hitting their last four shots to take the lead.
The road to the championships sponsored by Georgia EMC lighting the way Herbalife And how about the red elephant?
Yeah you see that road to the championship And that's why nobody in Gainesville has any fingernails left because it hit them off and all those playoff games.
Look at those scores.
But That tells you I'm kind of team Gainesville is and Miller Grove road to the championships and how they got to Macon sponsored by Georgia EMC lighting go way where a little more of a dominant performance by Miller Grove as you might expect and we didn't we also didn't expect Miller Girls to go quietly into that good night and they haven't been they've come out here and made a ballgame of it.
And one thing that sticks out to me is it's over nine for Miller Grove from three point distance.
It's almost invariable all percentages.
Okay?
But when you watch out, there's going to be a big three four by Miller Grove, I would bet before this, because they may be missing the three, but they're getting another 34 of their 41 points here.
But three timeouts, if you want to add something, come back to me after the next dead ball.
And I got a little more than me just fun pocket here for the fourth quarter.
Okay.
We'll wait on that with bated breath 41 to 39 started the fourth.
They're making a good field series the aforementioned Jon Nelson and Herbalife we're keeping the light on for her Watson in the corner going down low to Cantrell who fails out goes to England retrieve by Harrison.
Now John spent some time in both huddles in between the third and fourth quarter.
Gainesville Huddle was more concerned about dropping more bodies back during the inbounds for the press because as you saw, the Miller Grove Press was getting to him in the fourth quarter and also get back to crashing the boards because that was what they were successful in in the first three quarters with the big rebounding edge.
Sherm White for Miller Grove basic premise Don't let Gainesville have anything easier in the final 8 minutes.
It's all good stuff.
And Miller rose in the zone that time down so both teams changing up.
Defense is trying to keep their opponent off balance.
41 to 40 England able to make one of two more stolen away by Gainesville.
They got numbers in transition that's stands Cantrell excellent job on the to 42 to 41 The red elephants with a lead and a ride back mean we are the wolverines and that's hammer on the baseline struggling with it was more from the basketball here he'll throw the field making plays and the right kind bounce that time but we've seen some excellent basketball in the last three or 4 minutes to bail out by Cantrell above the rim He has 1544 to 43 that's drive into the hole and one against Watson.
I'll tell you what you get painting at the head of the circle.
Whoever is off their fan has got to shade into that lane and gives them help on defense because Watson just guard him out there.
And that's Watson's second pick me had a big third quarter and he's carrying over right now into the fourth and the miss stands right now he has 1445 to 44 632 in the final period and a timeout called by Trey Harrison.
It is a 37.
It'll be a 32nd timeout this very wide.
And this reminds me of you back in the day playing above the rim huh.
Got the flush right there.
Always fun to dunk.
Won the championship game.
It's another angle.
I can't say enough about Steve Graham and his outstanding crew bringing you the pictures.
They started early this morning.
They had a crew call at 10:30 a.m. and here we are, what, 12 hours later?
And we got to get up at 11 a.m.
Speak for yourself where you and I are going to go walking.
We're going to walk on the river.
Yeah.
Then we're going to hit the nightlife downtown.
I think the glass door opened about 4 a.m. Come on, give that You and Amy 45 and 44.
I see a night light near my bed, but I'm going to see you tonight where we want to keep the light on for you.
Yeah, and not a good foul there.
But the only the fifth foul on Miller Grove and again, both teams playing good defense without fouling the whole lot.
Only three fouls excuse me seven fouls, five on the reverse.
That was the fourth on Gilbert and they've got to keep an eye on that That's north back out to Harrison.
Harrison working against Gilbert tries to level most of the screens on the launch of a three no knock in this half was Luke Moore 47 to 45 and that's one of those ones.
Coach Carter was going, Oh, no, no, what a beautiful shot.
Luke So elephant's back in that zone.
Herb Yeah, matchup zone right now.
And you said changing defense by coach, coach Cottrell gave Miller Graham some problems early on try to work the half court set on the perimeter and putting it up and now this is Earl Bryant for the third that's like this move he just rises up and knocks it down and that's what fourth on England Brian Miller Grove and Earl Bryant every answer making attempt at the three point play the old fashioned way right now that's something to keep an eye on as we negotiate our way through this fourth and final period.
Who's in foul trouble with fourth?
Because you you see it knotted up right now.
And with that free throw, it's now 48 to 47.
TURNER With a one, there's.
BRYANT Yes.
The play the foul was early on but the great insinuation there and so the reach by England and the body up on Cantwell it's Harrison to the left Oh that's beautiful and he has 49 of 48 back and forth here it him 30.
Exactly what you're supposed to go hard but stay under control.
He had the option to the wing, looked at him and kept it and brought it home games really staying tucked in that matchup zone where they don't want to see Pinckney going one on one from the head of the key anymore.
So almost stolen the game by the Wolverines would take a chance You get the reason what's going around the miss is play and almost losing it was quickly and carried away by Moore to take the defender Williams deep inside to drive on the 50 to 49 and a foul spotted and the culprit it looked like that was Walker nifty dish here play after play being made here in the great state championship game that's the third on Walker that's the 16 foul Gainesville already with eight coach Wade barking out instructions right now on the defensive end for his Wolverines They lead by 150 to 49 white elephants with possession That's more they play the double trade and he's struggling with it and the alternate possession overall they're going to be out on more.
You can bet on that.
They're not going to let him launch another uncontested three.
And he held on to it a little too long and allowed the tie up.
Excuse me.
That was Luke Maddox, not more opportunity to run it.
More will go out.
That was a lot more.
All right.
Get your look straight here.
And it's rough in 49 for Gainesville, 50 for Miller Grove and a nice bounce Tyreke Gilder puts the lead at 352 to 49 almost at the four minute mark We almost got to answer here as he gains leads that's ten throw number two that hurts unforced turnover and that'll go through Miller Grove who will get the basketball there every time Gainesville comes out of that zone.
Somebody from Miller Grove goes one on one from the head of the key and scores James go with it.
11 turnovers Miller Grove with seven Gilbert working against Harrison and gets fired on the blue line that stick with the zone It's always coach gotcha because that's about the fourth drive to the basket they've got every time he's gone man to man.
The Miller Grove lead now swells to five one.
He getting off the bench for Gainesville about ready to reenter this basketball game.
Cantrell loses it off first at a turnover danger a little panic now they've turned it over twice in a row.
Cantrell trying to do a little too much one on one there and well that was an almost need to score so they need a stop here and then go down and score because this has been back and forth all night, one in two points for the most part in the second half.
And a five point lead right now is pretty big at this stage.
All Tyreek Hill Gilbert Walk walking in a cross being hounded by Harrison pulls up and misses the short jumper.
The rebound controlled by Gainesville.
That's England head to Harrison and on the wing and the dish and the dunk is 12 Nice play by Russ Cantrell with 1754 to 60 1 to 38 That was great ball handling on that fastbreak Just excellent.
Two quick passes in the slant.
Marino served wide.
Like I said this reminds me you there's a next pass it's great five as you back in the day.
Yes.
D.J.
Shockley, welcome to prime time basketball.
You got a big day tomorrow.
I want to bring in right now.
And you were a two sport athlete, North Clayton High School, huh?
How about those kids, Deshaun Watson, your questions right now.
He's a he's a heck of a player.
I mean, I got a chance to see him doing a football season.
And, you know, he's a guy who you really you really think about who can play on a next level.
He can do it in and see him tonight.
He can then definitely play on a next level in basketball as well if he wants.
D.J.
what was the toughest part about the transition coming out of football and going right into basketball?
Well, I think everybody can understand it.
It's a different type of shape that you got to be in go from football to basketball, and you can be in all the same, you over football going into basketball was to me when it once I first got into basketball, it took me a couple of games to get my feet under me.
And that's a confirmation because they won the state championship game on December and went over to the basketball team on the 22nd and they were one and six at that time.
And after that coach controlling Phillip, they were on a roll and they got five football players off that state championship team.
Coach Miller loaned them to them man to man.
See, here we go.
Right to the hood of 51, pulling up in the lane and this was Gilbert the rebound and work on the glass right now with Walker and bodies on the floor and the ball controlled by England Harrison to rough this good shot No dead ball folks on the floor the scramble in Miller Grove with the bust up and the easy lamb by Okereke Gilbert 56 to 51.
He's a shot.
We want to say thank you for joining us What's in it?
Three in and out England with the rebound goes up strong and talented and out of time out of 32nd time out goal by Gainesville White.
Tremendous action here in the second half Gil Miller Grove trying to get that first a championship in Gainesville just signed to get that first win in quite a while in basketball and then no quit in either one of these teams players all over the floor.
And it's just excellent basketball being played at an extremely hard pace.
You talk about that frenetic pace and this is what we're seeing slap in the face.
England shrugs it off.
That's a tough kid.
Got a man down.
He's going to get a layup here and that's Gilbert Gilbert stay down all three.
Gilmore And then just beneficiaries recover just yes offense not bad Look what I found look like he got puffed in the nose and it's not for the faint of heart out here right now.
Deal.
That's for sure.
The thing is, the road all to rebuild.
Gilbert.
The thing about that you don't want it to draw blood.
And it looks like a strong blood right now, which will leave him on the sidelines.
Somebody was trying to be selfish, especially when you look at the fourth quarter field goal numbers Right now, the Gainesville six of eight, Miller broke six of ten.
Well, the problem is, Gil, this kind of ball game gets the juices flowing for the old announcers and it's going to be tough to go to bed after this one and get calmed down because I just love great basketball.
And that's what we're seeing right now.
This is the Final Four today.
Miller Grove going to back it out with a minute, 38 to go quickly.
You had that big third quarter working against Harrison only to foul.
Now just apply pressure particularly against England goes baseline shot is by Watson and the red elephants have to deliver on the other way Harrison the trailer because they want hangs in the air and we get a foul and it looks like it's hanging with the bottom up and down here what I didn't see who got the block on the other end, but that was a great defensive play.
And here goes England and some big free throws coming up to this young man.
Bryant and Hammer were there at the summit, but it's hammer that's going for the his third England makes the first of two the lead right now add to Miller GROSS 56 and Gainesville 54 112 to in the final third there is a second one is good and it's a miller grove leaf of one for the full court press that had the trap on last time almost paid off, didn't quite get it, but they're going to play it again here.
Let's see if Miller can handle it.
Grab right inbounds to go to the double team.
And Brad was able to get through spotted for the foul with the body and moving fast was Harrison Trey Harrison trying to get that door charge was tough to get it on the full speed like that you have to jump in and get in and get the block called every time.
So that's Harrison's first.
Even two free throws here is still a one possession game.
Gill came to Williams and four Miller Grove for the moment.
So Brian will be shooting the one and one if he makes both of them.
It's still a one possession game and you know, Miller gains from come down late and goes to the field goes to the three that's got a good shot whatever you do the first opportunity by Earl Blythe it should be interesting to see what kind of pressure Milagros decides to put on if he makes this one, because you certainly don't want a foul when got a three point lead with a minute eight to go worldwide with 12 six in this quarter, an opportunity to get seven points and he does very well with the basketball That's up to Harrison but it's stolen away from Miller Grove that's a pick me he's got to pack it out and the ball almost went away but Miller Grove will retain possession and Charmin White says slow it down and play in control of the timeout 37 to 30 seconds on the Mavericks 32nd timeout by Miller Grove And the question is Herb Tim Miller Grove bring another title This was of course last year's win at four in a row Tony Parker and company Brandon Morris.
And just like that we are tied well probably not as good as they had of last year, but certainly another very good team and they're in the driver's seat right now.
Got the ball two point lead, 55 ticks to go back again.
It's going to be up to Gainesville to make the play here.
And of course, beat Southwest Cab and check good win in that bunch and went on to win their fourth and they get a fifth tonight.
They lead by 257 to 55.
And we also may add that that was the foray state championship last year.
They have upped their classification now at five oh, we had to let it go.
Oh, and Harrison dribbled it off his fourth boy, overall boy Miller Grove, let's see it here.
He couldn't pick that ball up.
It would have been back court so he had to let it go.
And then.
Harrison Right off the front of your foot.
Well, that's a killer.
It is Gainesville with pressure and almost coming over here is Cantrell to our table.
Milagros still with it?
Monique Gilbert being harassed by rough fight.
And just as I say, no need to foul yet they get to smile.
That's not a bad play that they can do.
Stick it on the line.
Make him make a couple, because if he only makes one is still a one possession game.
If he makes both go down and get a quick basket.
Right.
You see right there Gilbert with the cotton ball and a nice because you know you've got puck of course that's to prevent blood from getting on the floor absorbing it.
30 seconds make sure you get this rebound if he misses it.
If not you down three go down there to get a good look at a three.
Take it.
If not, go to the hoop because Milagros not going to try to foul So smart if that will make our score 58 to 5537 seconds to go.
Gilbert made those free throws and then exited stage left and was in place to go on boxing with the ball stolen away and immediately a foul is called and the ball will go to the line.
Now Watson got a little stronger with the ball in that Philadelphia region.
It took it away from him and England's got five and he'll be gone.
He'll be gone.
That's a state loss.
Huge loss.
And Hammond will come in to replace him.
Yeah, that's his arms wrapped all around themselves, white with an opportunity and on to the more aggressively.
The first one is up and did a little bit from Miller Grove sideline and that's the big deal that makes it a two possession game now yes serve and a miss and Miller Grove still with it but the Gainesville Red Elephants have it in a foul immediately.
Now you just got to be smarter than not foul in that situation.
It stops the clock puts Gainesville on the line.
They get two points without even have to get the up the floor.
So it's really the cardinal sin.
You do not foul a player in that situation, but easier said than done and you're playing for a state championship in this frenzy, that atmosphere, the first one on Rodney Lackey Cantrell, he gets it on purpose or too early You know you make this one and then you maybe try to steal the inbounds pass and then you got a foul pretty quickly after three.
That's all they can do.
Williams control and in traffic inside the 57 pressure game for the ball away by the way dolphins laying up and a foul the foul on Hammond and that'll send him to the line with 21 seconds to go They don't have to go for the steal because Miller Road is going to have to do yes Oh man you talk about pressure free throws.
My goodness.
I'm glad I'm sitting over here and not at the charity stripe right now.
I won't pick me right there.
Payment is looking good.
But after that stuff, we got to figure this is going to be a miss.
So you got to send everybody to the for you both days as strong as you can go.
And if Milagros gets the rebound, we got to pretty much start right away.
15 and 57 miss both headed the rebound control by Miller roll the outlet and they're going to get numbers and the lamb is over 11 seconds to go 6157 that's Harrison and here is the photograph and he messed it up and in with it but it doesn't matter no road slam their fifth state championship 61 to 57 over the red elephants of Gainesville and let the celebration begin.
Herbalife an outstanding ball game deal outstanding ball game.
You got to feel for the Gainesville Red Elephants.
You got to take your hats off to Miller Grove coming out in that second half.
And just nitty gritty basketball.
I mean, there's nothing fancy about it.
They just went after it on the boards and pulled it out.
So in the evening session tonight, another DeKalb County school is able to bring home a state championship.
We saw it earlier with Southwest, the cab, with the girls, and we see it in the five A's state championship with the boys.
And John Nelson standing by with Charmaine Wade, five now in a row.
John.
He got enough for a whole hand, huh?
That he gets to put another trophy in the suitcase to head back to Atlanta?
You got a smile, your face.
How does it feel having survived and gotten another one that was hard earned?
It was hard, but it just is kind of signature the way this group has played hard all year long.
Nobody game, which is not even teams in our region.
And, you know, these guys just kept the pride of Milagro in their heart and they played with so much of it.
And I'm so proud.
This group was not the most heralded group out of all the groups we've ever had, and they had the most pressure on them.
But they put up 30 wins and topped it off with a state championship and I couldn't be more proud of the way they hung in there and they fought and they show that problem brains.
You talk about that, talk about the sense of pride.
You have a little bit it really seems to register with you when it comes to this squad as to how hard they fought.
And tonight, and especially the last couple of minutes, seems to personify that almost definitely We knew Roy down by six at halftime.
It was still a game.
We just had to come out and play a little bit harder them.
And I think we did that.
And once we got to got the game moving a little faster and they turned it up on defense, we were able to force some turnovers and dictate the tempo a little bit better.
We got a shot free throws a lot better down the stretch to make this a little bit more stressful for me, but I'm proud of the way the guys stepped up and made a defensive stops when they had to.
Great job.
Congrats on Go get your trophy.
Thank you.
All right, Gail and Herb, let's send it back over to you one last time.
Oh, John, thank you all to Rick Gilbert, nine of it's 19 in the fourth quarter and the final Miller 61 to 57 over Gainesville.
The Trophy presentation and a whole lot more for America after this.
Welcome back to JB's coverage of the Five Boys State Championship game.
It's time now the presentation for that, we've got the GHC.
It's Ernie Yarborough.
Thanks, Mark.
Coach, again, we want to congratulate you on a great season, tremendous game tonight.
It was an exciting game night.
Nice game in the night with and KC Riles from Hall County Farm Bureau of Georgia is going to present your championship trophy to you.
All right, raise that high goes red zone high.
There's an exciting group of wolverines right here.
First and five, a little bit.
About five of these in a row.
Five in a row.
Incredible.
And these guys right here, they're the least heralded group we ever had.
And they stepped up every game this year and they hung 30 wins on the board and tagged it off with a state championship in a row.
I'm just I couldn't be more proud of these guys.
They held the banner.
Miller group very hard all season long.
Even with teams in our region, they give us a chance.
We knew we had a chance.
You know, when you won four in a row, you had a lot of high profile players on the team.
These guys, a lot of new faces.
Same result.
State championship for Milagro.
It's the expectancy here.
These want this guy.
They know we can get on the floor.
That's what we play for.
And it's not because is not be arrogant but we feel like why else other reason should we play and that is to reach the highest that we can reach.
And so I'm just proud of these guys, proud of the coaching staff.
It's a program at Milagro and we're trying to be the best program in the nation, not just in Georgia.
All right.
Senior Corey Hamer, talk a little bit about what this means to you to win a championship your senior season.
That's a blessing, man.
You know, we work hard all year round, no dedication.
And we had a team effort.
You know, that's all I can say is this is a blessing.
All right.
Talk a little bit about what this means to you.
Oh, man.
Is my last one.
Hopefully going to go to college.
I just want to thank God and thank Coach White.
All right.
Congratulations, Coach, once again.
No, no, thank you.
And I just want to thank my beautiful wife and my family and the Milagro family.
They just stood by us the whole time.
I'm so glad to have a supportive group of people around him, and I just couldn't be more thankful.
I just have to say, you got one for the thumb now.
Oh, yeah.
One for the thumb for Milagro.
Congratulations.
The boys five, they stay on Jimmy.
