Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipGeorgia Public Broadcasting presents the Georgia High School Association's state basketball championships.
Major funding for this program is made possible in part by Georgia's electric membership corporations.
IBM, BW Local 613, Atlanta, WA Cobia State Farms Dodge.
And by viewers like me, live from the arena at Gwinnett Center, It's the GHC five eight state basketball championships featuring the lady riders from Redan and the Lady Eagles of Collinsville.
Big crowd on hand here at the Gwinnett Center.
Welcome again, everybody to championship weekend.
I'm Jim Janaki, our great game featuring the raiders out of region two.
The Eagles out of region seven.
The Raiders.
Their first trip to the finals made time Collinsville their fourth trip in the last five years.
They won it back in 2000, one and 2002.
Let's go courtside to the two guys.
We'll call this one Dave Gardner and Bobak.
All right, Thanks, Jim.
And here once again with the dean of Atlanta sports, Bobak and Bo.
Looking forward to this five match up here against number one, Collins Hill taking on a Redan team, looking for the first title of those.
It's going to be a doozy.
Dave and I can promise you something special tonight, something that you have not seen yet this year, maybe the best player in the state.
But don't forget and I'm talking about Collins Hill.
I'll tell you that player in a moment.
But Redan starts for six footers and Collins Hill is all up and down the floor in full court pressure for four, ridin his push himself.
She plays in the middle.
She's a six to junior, 17 points per game, 72% free throws and nine boards a game.
Unbelievable.
Phillips with some great numbers And again, the starting five for Redan, Franklin, Murray Phillips, Whitley and Johnson, a solid five indeed with a little bit of size.
And there you see six foot six one, 262.
So another girls game here with a lot of big time players and certainly excited about it of course.
So Redan looking for that first state title as we talked about.
So they're going to be fired up.
They've certainly brought their folks.
Meanwhile, Collins Hill, Maya moore, she's up.
Well, Maya moore is who I was talking about, six and a half points a game, eight boards and two and a half blocks.
But the way she controls the game, just watching a warm up was a thrill because she's got both hands.
She uses them both.
She shoots with both hands.
She's got great skills.
Some people think that in two more years she's a sophomore.
She may come out as the best player we've ever produced.
Moore will wear a number 32, along with Austin, Kade, Kelly and Black.
There again.
Kelly the all time steals leader with Collins here they're looking forward to a2a great matchup Let's go ahead throw it on down courtside they're Dr. David Witherow from Murray County High School Chatsworth Georgia's RPA announced the championship game between the Collins Hill, Lady Eagles and the Redan Lady Raiders.
Here are your starting lineup.
Spurs scored the Redan Lady Raiders at Guard a55 senior number 20 Latisha Whitley at Center six to Georgia.
Number 22 Portia Phillips at forward a61 junior Number 33 Money.
Frank Cline at guard down five eight Junior number 40 to 40 Quad jumps and then forward a six foot sophomore number 50 Neil Murray The Redan Lady Raiders are coached by Rhonda malone and now the starting line up for the Collins Hill.
Lady Eagles and guard up by five junior number ten Central Black at guard a58 senior number 11 Greg Kelly at forward a59 senior number 23 Ashley Osbourne at forward a six foot sophomore.
Number 32.
Maya moore.
And at center, a63 junior.
Number 45, Brittany Cain got the Collins Hill.
Lady Eagles are coached by Angie Hembree.
The matchup is set against the Collins Hill Lady Eagles taking on the Redan Lady Raiders for the five girls championship.
When we return from the arena at Gwinnett Center.
Let's get started here.
Let's get started.
Let's get inside here.
Let's get started.
Get started.
Yeah, let's start getting shot here, please set for tip off again.
The Redan Lady Raiders from DeKalb County taking on the Collinsville Lady Eagles from just down the road here in Gwinnett County.
And looking forward to it.
Dave Gardner, Bo, back with you along with Lisa.
We standing by on the sideline here tonight.
Thanks, Dave.
Both teams are coming off emotional wins last night.
Redan beat McEachern in overtime to make their first ever state championship appearance, and Collinsville knocked off rival Stephenson, who beat them in last year's state championship game.
Now, Angie Henry told her girls in the locker room last night after last night's win that if they play like they did tonight, that they'll have no problem bringing home the bling bling.
All right, Lisa.
And that would be the third piece of bling bling for Colin Sale.
Here again, Champions ID 2001, the first year of five in and follow that up in 2002 with another state championship.
And there you get to look at the officials for tonight's game April good Sherri Ingle and Tami Woodring working the game and the first ever all female crew to officiate a title game in the state of Georgia.
So a little bit of history being made here tonight in this five eight girls contest.
Right off the bat, they're at and trying to put up a shot there and gets the ball back after it looked like Collinsville was back on the other end of the floor there.
Brittney Cade not looking for the goal as she led that to first ball.
I'm looking forward to this one.
A lot of sighs, a lot of speed.
These are five schools.
The biggest classification in Georgia.
You know, they've got the athletes and a very hyped game here.
Of course, Collinsville comes in as the number one team in the state at 30 and one that one loss was to an out of state team there.
This is a team that has certainly earned their way to the championship game, along with Redan playing for their first state title.
And I'll tell you, I'm excited about it.
And this is Portia Phillips.
She's 16.
She went for 25 points in the semifinal win over McEachern and had six blocks as well.
She's been really consistent throughout the state playoffs.
20 points against has two down in round two and hits a pair of free throws right there to give Redan the first lead of the game to drop it back on the other end.
Maya moore, number 32, certainly the player to watch, but she's got a very good supporting cast.
Brittney, Cade looking inside there, Cade, with the basketball swings it back out because their foot was on the line, though out of bounds.
And you see Cade right there stands right about six foot three.
The both of these teams, they're very composed, open this game, unlike what we've seen other times today.
And and also in the semifinals.
Back on the other hand, Imani Franklin, number 33 with the basketball, had it taken away right there.
Good defense.
Chantelle Black came up with it and the Lady Eagles are off and running again here.
Nice little dish right there.
Maya moore puts up the shot, going to draw the foul right there.
It looked like on Phillips.
And it's going to be fun watching those two go at it here tonight.
without a doubt.
Maya moore is has got a stronger build than Portia.
But both of these players can can move their feet, have great coordination and great shot blocking ability, 28 points as you saw in that semifinal game against Stevenson.
Stevenson, of course, the defending state champs.
Number three of the state there.
The way the Eagles finally got over that hurdle, Stevenson had knocked them out of the last two state turnovers.
And so Collins Hill in here tonight Moore one of two from the line there, it's 2 to 1 lady raiders get it across a nice inside shot They're off the mark Quantico Johnson 42 missed the shot but got the rebound and put it back out as well then resets the offense How about watching Portia giving the ball up that short six to little 6 to 3 post player without it out there.
But she plays like a point guard, very versatile and you see her inside right there blocked from behind and then a whistle going to be called Moore got a hand in there and Moore's pushed her.
He's got a body into Moore's first foul team.
Second, as you see it again, that's they didn't see it.
Phillips missing on the first free throw as later Raiders first two points here and miss is there so Phillips comes up empty from the line 72% free throw shooter so very uncharacteristic for her to miss a pair at the line like that Back on the other end Ashley Austin for three point range from the corner no good and brought down by Phillips Phillips being guarded by guards Kelly Kelly I just get a kick start handling the ball it's going to be fun to watch especially for her and Maya moore, just a sophomore, getting it down there low tonight.
That one knocked away possession will stay with it in the first half time out right there Kelly the all time steals leader at Collins Hill and she's pretty much guarding Phillips as she brings the ball up the floor.
There's that's going to be a fun matchup to watch as well but Imani Franklin up top being guarded by Austin now nearly taken away and half taken away by Moore back on the other end bounce pass What a pass and the foul with Taya Kelly with the bucket and a chance for a three point play Holy cow what a pass from Shantel Black Put it right on the money 25 yard bounce pass and then great hands and composure at the end to finish it Kelly averaging over 14 points a game this year.
A senior trying to complete the three point play and the free throw is in and out of there but kept alive by Brittany Tate, who is and the Lady Eagles have warmed up here now take away gets Kelly with a turnover into the lane and get a draw whistle she recalled on particular Johnson.
She literally put her head down and took it like she was going for the last yard for this crowd as fired up here tonight off the inbound and get a wave.
That one off.
It looks like going to be an offensive foul, it looks like on Brittany Cade Landry.
But when you look down this lineup again, more size as we talked about, Moore at six foot four equated 63a couple of 511 girls in there as well.
Back on the other end there, Angelia Murphy trying to work that baseline shot Wooden Flacco and another whistle and both teams very physical out of the gate here they are very physical both are getting up after it to for your attention please coach Rhonda malone seventh year out of it at 124 and 68.
Pretty good winning percentage right there, trying to guide the lady riders to their first state championship.
Murray at the line here hits on the first once and they're going to look at coach Angie Henry also her in her seventh season at Collinsville has done a remarkable job with that Lady Eagle program, to say the least.
The second free throw off the mark by Murray and Lady Eagles up by two and the basketball here under 5 minutes in this first period with a pull up blocked What a save right there by Blackman The three point shot from the corner off the mark taken away by Johnson alone on the other end it's Murray lays it up and in and now you're Murphy Murray a six foot sophomore with three points here.
Both of these teams really seem to see the floor, know where their teammates are, know where they want to go with the ball.
At times it up at five apiece as we near the four minute mark here, Kelly over in the corner gets it back out.
The Lady Eagles will set the offense from the corner three point shot.
No good.
The follow is up and in what a job right there by Mindy Greenstone, 34, here.
The line up there and the 510 senior with her first bucket.
She had a great game in the semifinals.
Both teams play defense, but they're up and down the floor offensively shot off the mark there.
Foul ball going, traveling, going to be called on, frankly, at this.
The Monte Franklin, a61 junior, took too many steps inside.
And the basketball belongs to Collins Hill here with 335 left in the first nice double team right there on Moore.
Natalie is black, open, but unable to hit the three there.
And then another pass inside.
What a job.
Right there from Moore who put it back into Greenstone.
Well, that was a great look.
And that's what we're talking about.
Both these teams seem to know all their teammates and they all have great vision.
A takeaway here it is again, up and in and the foul count, it.
That play was made by the assist that was Ashley Austin with the wraparound pass Nice job inside there.
Check it out.
Moore at the long chance to come away with a three point play right here three points three rebounds in the early going and hits the shot there for a fourth point.
Try again.
The sophomore averaging over 16 points a game.
Number three, Tanisha Kinsey will check in for it in Kinsey, a senior off the inbound.
A steal right there.
How do you like that?
Maya moore with six points there.
Has that long wingspan able to come up with the steal and turn it into points and a great touch.
14 to 5.
This is like a five point game just a minute ago.
But the Lady Eagles from Collins Hill have grabbed the momentum here in the last 2 minutes and nine point advantage here, not a run in the last two.
Back on the other end, three point shot off the mark from Franklin Collins.
He'll quickly back down on the other end.
There.
Moore Off the glass.
What a shot.
Miles.
This time it has been fired up and Raven wants to call a time out here.
Maya moore has come out of the gate.
And as we talked about, she was the player we focused on up top of the pre game, just a sophomore.
But indeed, she has turned it on here to start out this ball game in this five eight championship.
Unbelievable.
Well it's viewers like you that help make great local programs like these high school basketball championships possible on Georgia public broadcasting to show your support simply visit our website at W WW support GPB sports It's totally secure simple to use it takes just 2 minutes and thank you for supporting Georgia public broadcasting a great website right there and you know we're talking about folks out of state a lot of these family members live all over the country.
And so it's a chance for those guys to tune in there and check it out on the archives.
You know, the 6 to 5 Collins Hill lead should mean nothing to we're down at this point.
Coach has to tell them, don't lose your offense.
Don't get away from what we do.
Well, climb back in the sun still very early.
Hey, later.
Enter a team that has had a lot of close games in these state playoffs and that would take it away right there from Chantelle Black, another man, she went up from the right side with the left hand.
Maya moore with ten points here on the receiving end of that bounce pass.
Holy cow.
Wow, That's kind of a lost art ball.
The bounce pass.
We've seen a couple of just textbook passes here tonight.
Here's another look at this one.
First, the steal letter, perfectly left hand right side, the best pitch and catch right there.
And it's 18 to 5.
The Lady Eagles establishing some early momentum here in this opening quarter.
Take it away again.
Moore on the other end, save it and able to handle the pass right here into it it's Kelly so back to the lady raiders but too excited that time for Natalie Holder in the lineup forward in it coach Ronna Malone the key tonight for Redan is to go inside as you see the field goals their lady raiders just one of seven from the floor Collins Hill again eight of 13 and that's pretty much the story if you look at the scoreboard you want to try to dump it down into course to Phillips.
She's out of line up right now and back on the other end.
Another steal Ashley Austin had it knocked away you say last touch by redan so it will stay with Collins Hill but right now the Lady Eagles again defensively only allowing right at 36.9 points on the year.
And I'll tell you what they are really making a statement here.
Well they're a great defensive team you see tonight what excellent hands they have.
Unbelievable.
It's Maya moore with a three point shot.
She's hit from all over the place.
Steps outside, makes no difference Inside, outside, right hand, left hand makes no matter how.
13 points already over and back right there.
And another turnover.
And coach Angie Hembree not going to be too optimistic this early in the game, but she's got to be happy with what she's seen so far.
Yeah, 21 to 5, traveling down footsteps on Kelly right there Collins Hill on a 16 run and a minute 15 left here in the opening quarter turnovers Redan with eight talents Hill with half that at four and that is certainly played into this run here by the Lady Eagles inside on the other end Nice looking move right there by Imani Franklin that was good Season six one junior and that breaks the streak right there by Collins Hill.
The Lady Eagles had scored the last 16 inside there, that one nearly taken away and finally taken away.
Moore was trying to battle with it inside there with Kinsey and Lady Raiders will slow it down here a little bit and bring it across.
That's Venetia Kinsey.
30 seconds left.
Amelia murray working it.
Had it taken away on the line there.
But another near turnover.
And as impressive as Maya moore has been offensively, she's even more so defensively.
She really plays good team Ball can pretty much do it all.
I like the way Collins Hill goes about their business.
They all know where everybody is.
Everybody was passing up short jump shots.
Well, I see intermediate midrange jump shots for four layups.
And you know, that's the sign of a mature basketball team and a smart team.
Chantelle Black up top.
And they get a lot of players involved, too.
It's not just Maya moore.
They have five and double figures in their first round win over South Cobb Moore Inside a what?
A dish right there.
The Greenstone had it knocked away and that'll do it for the first period, a period dominated by the Collins Hill Lady Eagles through the hunt for their third state championship.
Still plenty of basketball left here, but they have made a statement here tonight, 21 to 7.
The score all in Eagle so far redan with a little catch work to do when we return.
Collins hill up 21 seven over redan as we get set for the start of quarter number two, let's throw it over to Lisa.
All right.
Thanks, Dave.
I know both mentioned how both these teams have played like they played together really well and have known each other for a long time.
Brydon Their front line have been playing together since they were in the middle school class.
They play a lot of ball together, so they definitely know where everybody is at all times.
Dave, back to you.
And you know, that just goes to show when you keep a program together, when you keep girls together like that, they're going to mature, they're going to get into, you know, high school.
If you can keep an eye guess they're going to have success, especially with those new programs.
These kids are playing basketball year round.
So as we start the second quarter here, Collins Hill, with all the momentum right now behind that girl right there, Maya moore with the basketball 13 points in that opening quarter, three point shot right here and hits and she picks right back up where she left off.
Holy cow, 16 for Maya moore.
And this crowd is going nuts here.
Collins Hill, both teams have really brought the folks here, backcourt pressure right here.
And another turnover.
They're doing it offensively.
They're doing it defensively, just all over the place here.
One here's the cut shot wouldn't go that time, though, but Greenstone will keep it alive.
When was the last time you saw a female basketball player catch the ball in the air and release it before she came down?
I don't think I've ever seen that before to have a foul.
AJC, Shantel Black, hit the deck right there.
Foul going to be going to be on the court.
Johnson talking about this gem, I tell you what, it is packed inside the arena here at Gwinnett Center.
College Hill fans taking up a little bit of both sides.
One side, Jalen Collins and the other side yell at Hill.
You know, pretty much during their timeouts there, they have filled this place.
A lot of excitement underneath the roof Just make it three point shot off the mic there from Virginia.
Kelly Portia Phillips comes out of there with it, three on two on the other end.
Wow.
That was a great move, too.
She avoided the charge.
Kelly back on in another good bounce pass right there.
The shot just wouldn't go for lost in the follow zero 20 greenstone greenstone with six points here in this first half has gotten off to a good start as well 24 to 7 Lady Eagles have built that lead up just two field goals made by Redan in that first quarter.
And on the other end, Ashley Austin, taking it to the hole right here draws the foul.
The other day there was a ball going between the glass and the rim and Maya moore just jumped up and flicked it away.
And as coach hits the she's shoes evidence is that she dunks regularly in practice.
Wow.
Tell you what if she does that tonight, I think the roof's going to blow off this building.
Allison after line hits a pair right there.
First two for Ashley Austin on the night and a lead is now at 28 seven.
Lonnie Franklin with the basketball for the lady Raiders and a bit of a hole here right now the lady Raiders have not scored in the last four and a half minutes.
They have dug a bigger hole until right there.
They must have heard us say that was Portia Phillips.
Portia is going to be their go to girl in this game.
Greenstone will draw the foul right there and another whistle.
You got to wonder, too.
I mean, these teams played last night in the semifinals and certainly not making excuses because I know the adrenaline is still flowing.
But Redan had a tough overtime game against MacEachern, 56 to 51, as you see greens those numbers right there.
And you got to wonder how fresh those legs are going to be particularly late in the game.
I think we were then last night missed the front end of the one and one three times, and that's what allowed the game to get into overtime against McEachern.
Collinsville also had a big game against Stevenson, pretty much their rival, the team that won the state championship last year.
So some redemption indeed.
Well, Stevenson broke their heart last year and coach says almost literally 39 Lady Eagles have a big advantage right here.
That game last year, 6962 and the state championship and our block, they're underneath and now they're going to get her for the foul Looks like more you know green stones really gotten it done inside here but you know for for a bigger girl she could shoot the ball well from outside right around 60% from three point range and taken a lot of them.
But she's hit she's it right here you see Portia wheeling and losing the ball to Franklin at the line.
This is on the first and a player substitution right here for Collinsville number 24 Shantel Ferdinand in the lineup.
There you see Franklin's numbers, 8.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, couple assists and a couple of steals gets the roll on the second Franklin with three points here tonight.
That puts it back to a 20 point game.
Still 30 to 10 here under five and a half to go in the first half.
Black kicks it out.
Vernon with the basketball Austin over to black kick it back out Good ball.
Move it here and take it away.
I'm going to get a push inside on Collins Hill.
It looks like you're going to be on Kelly first says 16 fouls now on Lady Eagles.
I was just watching Chantelle Black, the Collinsville Point guard and what a great handle she has really controls the game.
Howard knocked away good defense right there by Austin who got a hand on it.
Greenstone ahead to Kelly, who pulls up, takes a shot, misses follows her own shot, still won't go off the iron and take it out of there by Phillips Phillips being guarded by Austin there Murray with the basketball trying to feed it inside.
Tough shot right there by Portia wouldn't go follow too strong and they're going to get Kelly for the foul right there and the Collinsville crowd not liking that one.
And Kelly's second foul as you see, Murray will go to the line.
See it now.
See, she gets all balled.
It looked like it, but you couldn't see what was going on in the back on of tough.
Yeah.
Check out number 32 Queen Boothe, a sophomore, checking in as you see Murray's numbers over 11 points a game.
Got it.
Four rebounds and hits the free throw.
But Shantel Black handle the ball and the defender is inviting it to go left.
And she always has no problems.
It takes her off the dribble.
Left side, right side.
There's no weak side, I should say.
No, we can top Ferdinand with the basketball, kicks it back out.
Good job five right to keep it alive and then taken away an offensive foul looks like on black Chantelle driving in there a little hard and we'll get ball for the foul The only time she's been out of control Looks like we got a time out on the floor here with 358 left and quarter number two here at the arena adequate at center, Dave Garner Bobak with you Lisa East courtside with us along with the rest of the Gp-B television crew and certainly looking forward to an exciting week and that will extend into tomorrow down in Macon and a full weekend of championship high school basketball and certainly looking forward to it as we continue on here throughout the throughout the week.
It's always a long weekend, but nonetheless, a very fun weekend as well for this championship game can also be viewed live on the gp-b internet site around the world at w WW dot gpb dot org.

That's WW dot gp-b dot org.
And thanks for watching a lot of folks as Herb White was talking about that last game a lot of hits, a lot of folks checking in, logging in there and watching some of the past games.
Yeah be fun to do that those scores right here it's Collinsville up 3212 with just under 4 minutes to play here.
And of course coming up later on tonight, it's the five boys match up, the most anticipated matchup between Wheeler and Norcross.
Of course, the Wildcats from Cobb County taking care of South Florida, who a lot of people expected to see here.
But don't count out Norcross.
They got a lot of good athletes.
It's going to be a heck of a matchup.
Armani, Franklin at the aligner out here for the red and lady Raiders after that last foul from Chantelle Black and the hits on the front end right there and you see Franklin's numbers here five points and a rebound so far tonight for the junior and hits on a pair right there.
So make it six points for Franklin but they make it into a full court for full court pressure after the maid free throw it.
It was 20 plus something while ago.
Gap is now down to 16.
So the lady raiders trying to make a little bit of a run here to get back into the basketball game.
Still plenty of action here left tonight.
Still 340 left in the second quarter.
We still got the whole second half.
So anything can happen.
But a bit of pressure out there.
Furman gets rid of it, Black being guarded by Murray up top off the dribble over the green stone.
Linda Greenstone has been very active in this first half as well, with eight points shot off the mark there.
An offensive foul going to be called ball back to the lady.
Raiders should have pulled up but the dotted line even though we don't have a dotted line anymore but pull up at the dotted line and just hit that soft little jumper not just going and we've seen it some often today, just knocking down people.
Now on Austin, as you see Coach Rhonda malone in her seventh season with Redan playing for their first state championship here tonight, averaging 54 points on offense this season, allowing 43 some pretty good numbers there.
They've had some close games in the state playoffs with a lot of character and a foul right there for Portia Phillips.
And that's what they need more of, Right.
There is a pretty classy player, too.
We've been talking about Maya moore, but Portia Phillips has shown us a whole lot tonight, which wish I could see another look at it right here.
Tough shot with a defender honor and a chance for a three point play and hits the free throws a seven points for Phillips.
When you look at her numbers and Maya Moore's numbers, they're very similar.
They average right around 16 and a half points, a game about 72% or so.
At the free throw line.
They rebound, they block shots, they do it all.
Maya moore out of the game right now.
Good time for Redan to go on the run.
It's Kelly basketball over the black Austin shot off the mark and brought down by Phillips.
They have a whistle here it looks like going to be called on Austin and again in the bonus here Redan making a living at the free throw line here And what better way to climb your way back into the game than to hit those freebies with the clock stuck.
And then this is right what they need to do.
Portia Phillips back at the line here, as you mentioned.
Phillips Right at 72% on the year seven points tonight, three rebounds and a chance to cut it down to eight.
Well, a ten point game now for that Miss 12 point game, rather, and hits right there for eight points.
So 3018, it's slowly climbing their back into it here and take it away right there Big steal by Queen Boothe who feeds Murray and going to be called for the foul right there.
Chantelle Black's going to pick up another one and then Alia Murray will be at the line shooting a pair right here as you see her then on an eight over run in the last 2 minutes.
So it was Collins Hill early on and now the lady Raiders are starting to pick up the offense.
Well it turned out well for and newly emerged as I thought she would have to pull up and wait for her trailing players instead she took it aggressively and ended up winning.
Nikki Irby, ZO number 21 in the lineup for the first time tonight for coach Angie, Henry and Collins Hill.
Meanwhile, Murray at the line shooting her second and hits one of two on that trip right there, 3219.
An 11 point game clock winding down to the two minute mark here before the half Odessa basketball up top.
Over to Kelly.
It's Kelly Austin guarded closely there by Natalie Holder Lady Eagles showing some patience right here Nice job by fellow to beat the double team and knocked away They're underneath and she was smart enough to pull up for that little in-between jumper sort of creating the charge situation.
Look at that all ball by Portia Phillips right in your living room.
Great job by our camera crew here tonight.
Three point shot off the mark from Austin back the other way Murray one on one lays it up and in now Amelia murray cuts it down to a nine point game.
It was 20 just a few moments ago now 3021 and Reardon's back in this thing.
Lady Eagles still up by nine here.
And another turnover right there.
It looks like.
And coach Angie Hamby was feeling good early on.
It was a 21 to 7 game at 1.28 to 7.
Maya moore out for the second half, little too tall that time for Phillips.
Now one on one back on the other end there, Kelly pulls up as a smart dame.
Watch this natural beauty here on ABC.
She's only a freshman and she's got a great handle and knows the game and you see the way she moves at the reason averaging right around three points a game screen stone in the corner when you're playing behind fence so black, you're not going to get much going down.
A lot of upperclassmen on this Collinsville roster, they only dress out about a dozen and whistle right there on the drive.
Great screen to the end, folks not liking that call too much right there.
Franklin hanging in there defensively interviews they will be at the line and you see Nikki's numbers they're off the front of the iron there on the first one.
We'll have another 34 seconds left here in the half.
It's been exciting.
Collins Hill jumped out big early on, but Redan is slowly climb their way back into this thing and a pair of misses right there.
Phillips brings it out of there.
And so now the lady Raiders, a chance here to close the gap even further.
And the whistle foul going to be called there it looks like on Brittney Cade reaching in.
Any time you do that, it's going to be called Chance.
So Portia Phillips back at the Illinois out here and this is on the first one.
Phillips seven points tonight, five rebounds and just a junior.
Coach Malone will have her back next year.
PHILLIPS Right at 72%, but unable to hit you got to hit those free throws.
You got to hit those those freebies at the Astros earlier, especially while get the other team has its star out the clock to stop you trying to climb all the way back into a game.
I kind of gotta wonder if Chambers just trying to keep her fresh for the second half to just really pull away in this thing.
I'm just going to get a cheap foul here in the last stages of process.
Ashley Austin back on the other end.
Shoot in free throws.
Now 18.3 on the clock and two of two right there for Ashley Austin, 30 to 21, Collinsville up 11 here, second winding down.
Final chance here for Redan Franklin will take the three and bury it.
Amani Franklin with nine points and a big three point shot and that'll do it for the first half from the arena at Gwinnett Center, the half time scorer, Collinsville 32, Redan 24.
But it is a ballgame once again here as this crowd is fired up here tonight.
All kinds of folks in here watching a good basketball game.
Unbelievable.
Let's go ahead, throw it to Lisa, who's standing by with Coach Hendricks.
Thanks, Coach member.
Your team had a tremendous lead for Dan has cut that down.
What do you tell your girls at halftime?
Well, I think we did a good job in the second quarter.
We got outscored.
You know, they're a good team.
They're not going to quit.
And we knew that we got to come back out in the second half and and turn up the volume a little bit.
Thank you so much and good luck.
Dave, back over to you.
So there you have it again, the Lady Eagles with that halftime lead.
Their crowds are fired up here tonight and we are two again, the Class five girls state championship from the arena at Gwinnett Center.
Back with halftime festivities coming up.
And welcome back to championship weekend.
There you see Collins Hill leads redan at the half 3224.
Meantime, the boys who are playing in the five eight championship are busy warming up.
That's Wheeler and of course, Norcross.
Jim Tanaka, back here with you.
Now.
Let's go courtside at least a witness.
Lisa, thanks, Jim.
Joining me are two happy representatives from both schools.
I have her dance principal, Andrew Tatum, and I also have Collin Hill, Assistant Principal Bob Burgess.
And Bob, how exciting is this for call until I know y'all have been here before, but I know it's still very exciting.
it's always exciting to be in a state championship game of any sort.
So we're incredibly excited about being here.
The kids are excited about it.
The staff, everybody, the community.
It's it's just an overwhelming thing to be involved in something like this.
I couldn't help but notice.
But yesterday and today you brought a very big crowd.
Yeah, I think it's almost like a home crowd for us, because the simple fact is we're only a few miles away here and it's very convenient for us to come to the Gwinnett Center.
All right.
Thank you.
And Andrew, I know as well this is so exciting for you.
This is the first time Redan has ever been in a state championship game.
What does this mean for the school in the community?
Well, it means a lot for us.
We've been trying to get to the state championship game for the last 16 or 17 years.
The last two or three years we've made it to the final eight and we're just fortunate enough this year to make it to the finals.
We thought perhaps that we would be here last year.
We thought perhaps the personnel was better.
But Coach Ron Malone has done an excellent job with the personnel that we have now.
What can you say about the support from the school and the community?
I mean, this is the ultimate game for any high school.
The support from the community has been tremendous.
We've had the support of our superintendent, assistant superintendent, the athletic director, and just tremendous amount of support from our fans and the student body.
And I couldn't help but notice that you were a big fan, too, and you don't seem too worried about the way the score is so far.
No, we are.
We're Redan Raiders.
We've played the Stephenson's and we played college field before.
We respect both of those teams and all the teams in 540, but we kind of feel like we can play with all of them.
Well, thank you so much.
Thank both of you so much.
Good luck to you in the second half.
Jim, let's send it back over to you.
I thank you, Lisa.
She spends time in the principal's office.
You know, Bobak said at the top of this game it was going to be a doozy.
Bo Dave, you guys were right about that.
I'll tell you what.
This game has been back and forth.
I'm out of breath.
We're just about exhausted watching these teams go up and down the floor.
But indeed, a good first half, particularly for Collinsville, the Lady Eagles really establishing some early momentum.
Redan was able to work their way back into the lineup a little bit.
Still down the list, a good half for the lady.
Well, let's take a look at what happened here.
Here's Chantelle Black Watch this long distance bound pass for the assist.
Then Amelia murray takes it strong to the basket for Redan.
Now here's black again to Maya moore, and Maya moore goes right side, left hand.
She can use both hands.
Now Maya is going to step outside, see what happens.
It's a three.
It's good.
Portia Phillips with the BLOCK.
She's had a great half and a mind Blackburn with the three for Redan returns in this thing 32 to 24 and as you look at the stats there again field goal six of 15 for Redan.
They pick up the pace a little bit, but 11 of 24 for Cowlitz Hill who jumped out to that big lead early early, a 40% from the floor for redan 46 for the Collinsville Lady Eagles.
They're three point field goals, one of two and two of seven turnovers, a big score in that first half 11 for the lady Raiders in rebounds even and a dozen free throws.
Also Redan making up a little bit of that ground at the free throw line 11 of 19 Collinsville though very impressive as well 80% eight of ten there.
So looking forward to the great second half here.
You got to wonder, you know, Redmond's going to come out of the locker room here trailing a little bit, but they had a little boost of confidence going into the locker room, so I'm sure they're going to come out fired up.
That's you got to pay attention to the athletic ability more on this floor than I've ever seen in any other women's game.
Both sides.
Let's go ahead and take a time out.
We'll be right back with the second half when we return, Collins Hill and Redan going at it for the five girls Title Collins Hill up by eight.
And as we get set to start the third quarter play, they have gone along with Beau Barkley.
So he's courtside with us here.
They get Redan out of a region five five Collins Hill playing out of Region seven and what a championship game it's been.
And let's go ahead, throw it on over to at least the courtside standing by steak.
Thanks, Dave.
Joining me now is Coach Malone and Coach Gordon Raiders.
They made a great run in the second quarter.
Yeah, You know, I told my girls, you know, we're not out of this ballgame.
We got to fight, you know, just stay in the game.
We told them to play our game, execute our offense, play aggressive defense, and that's what we did.
And we've come back from a 21 point deficit.
So, you know, I'm proud of them.
I told them in the locker room to keep fighting, continue to do what we supposed to do and let's make this a ballgame.
All right.
Thank you so much.
Good luck in the second half.
Dave, back over to you.
All right.
Thanks, Lisa, and looking forward to the second half.
That should really be back and forth and really talk about Maya moore.
You know, 16 points in that first half.
They got a lot of girls involved, more than they want to get more players involved.
They've only got three in the scorebook, so they want to spread it around a little more.
Yeah, I think so.
But I think Dave, they really have to go to push Phillips a little bit more to fronting her and double teaming up and they've got to find a way to get her open set some screens, move her outside.
But she's the talented player on this team who can get them inside.
Point leaders for Redan Again, the lady Raiders getting nine from Franklin, eight for Murray and seven from Phillips in that first half there again as you see the three in the book and four Collins Hill again they're leading scorers Moore with 16 as we talk about Greenstone with eight Austin before and a couple of players with a pair of points there and a gritty a Kelly and a Brittney Cade and certainly a big first half for the Lady Eagles there.
Without a doubt.
And of course, we talk about what Moore has done throughout the playoffs, 23 against central Gwinnett and round number two, Collins, who actually trailed by ten against Marietta, won that one by four.
So that was a tough game.
And of course, that big game that put them over the top against Stevenson, 64 to 49.
And Maya moore, certainly a very important part of all of those games.
Maya moore is certainly back in the lineup now and the Bush for the state championship Saturday.
A good bit of that second quarter, I guess, not wanting to get her in foul trouble, want to keep her fresh.
And we're down with the basketball to open up the half here.
Trailing by just eight, they trailed by as many as 20 early their shot off the glass right there.
Good looking shot by Natalie Holder.
Wow.
Maybe it was not such a good head to go to force it because they've got her double teamed in, triple teamed and absolutely taken her away.
And that's what they've got to do, is going to open it up with perimeter shooting or with the six point game right now, two possession game, Kate, underneath in traffic.
Lost the handle on it.
No whistle, Father good job by Phillips to get a hand in there Keep her feet under and the ball back to the lady Raiders right here and now Collins here showing some press so this is just the way they like to play.
They like this full court press.
They don't let go out it out.
Booth puts up the shot off the mark there and last touch by the lady right here.
So ball back for the Lady Eagles.
Yeah.
Murray had a big first half as we talked about as you get a look at Miami, Oregon, the six foot sophomore averaging over 16 points a game she's already got that here tonight Chantelle Black top two Kelly drives it a what a dish right there up and in Wow good ball movement Ashley Austin finished underneath Ashley Johnson didn't get too far up under the basket as we've seen a couple of times tonight.
It's a great finish Portia Phillips across there, Imani Franklin Holder off the dribble puts up a shot too strong brought out of there by Kelly who looks ahead to the man 00i saw it coming in.
But they won't do it.
They did it.
And a steal right there and then taken right back and now a steal there.
Chantelle Black keeps it alive, ball still loose.
And they're going to say that Black was on the line there.
But man, man.
Bo, I've never seen anything like that.
An alley oop.
Was that just just below the rim?
An alley oop in a women's game was just.
That's what's next.
We just got a preview.
I want to see her throw it down.
I'll tell you what can be fun right there.
18 points.
Hit her on stride.
A perfect pass to and some more pressure.
Collinsville really making Redan work to bring the ball up the floor.
They've had to work for everything tonight.
Lady Raiders again at 23 and eight overall coming in and that one taken away by Moore, two on one another alley oop right there, little too tall this time.
BLOCK Keeps it alive, though, and going to get a foul underneath.
I'll tell you what, Chantelle Black is very active.
Yeah, she is.
Got a little too deep, though, in Maya moore.
Just lost her her momentum at that point.
She couldn't gather herself in that high pass.
Chantelle Black, as you see it earlier on here.
Wow.
but remember, she did that earlier in the game.
I said I'd never seen that.
Also as catch and shoot in the same motion before you come down.
And then that's about as close as you get to an alley oop as you've seen in this game.
Little discussion going on right here.
Chantelle Black being attended to over in front of the Collins Hill it Eagle bench right here Collins Hill really the story on them coming in to tonight's game a lot of man to man very intimidating defense and they have certainly intimidated here tonight but later raiders are still within ten points right now and firing back here as they get more comfortable since we've seen them go on a run.
Also had an eight run right there towards the end of the first half that got them back in it as black hits the free throw number 44 to equal Johnson back into the lineup for the lady Raiders as you see Black's numbers semifinal versus Stevenson at seven points six assists and four steals Again that was last night.
Both teams having to turn right back around and go out it again today.
Murray went up to get that ball at midcourt.
Turn round.
All done right there by Neil Murray.
Reverse toward the baseline is a great move It remains a ten point game here The Eagles lose the handle on it and knocked away though by Murray it looked like so possession will stay with Collins Hill Kelly with the basketballs we talked about the all time steals leader at college a little shot right there by Moore is really something 20 points tonight for Maya moore another big game for her take it away Denzel Black lays it up.
And in four points for black.
And again, the Lady Eagles are on a bit of a run right here under 5 minutes here in this third period.
Coach Malone not taking a time out, trying to slow this thing down.
Now you got Porsche, Porsche off the front of the iron there.
Four and more of that a couple of times.
Maya's kind of laid off of her a little bit there.
nice pass inside of Brittany Cave.
An assist right there for Moore is Cade finishes Tate again right at six foot three They've just got so many weapons did Lady Eagles on the other hand off the mark there from Franklin who had it in traffic.
Did you see the run.
Eight in the last minute a half back on the other end for three.
Yes.
Good chance, Kelly, for a three point bucket.
And Collins Hill has come out in the second half on fire.
Wow.
They widened the gap to 4728 he kills.
But when Coach Henneberry went and talked with Lisa Weise before they went into the locker room, she didn't seem too concerned.
I think she knows her team.
I think so.
They have been very impressive.
And you saw that last three point bucket there.
Again, Collins Hill, as we mentioned, number one in five eight this year, ranked 11th nationally in the USA Today.
So this is a team that's not only grabbing state headlines, but national headlines as well.
Well, you can see why they are a very talented team that plays the game the way it's supposed to be played.
When you combine the big people that they have with black, the point guard, you've really got a combination.
Earlier tonight, it was the Etowah Lady Eagles winning 6147 over West Side Macon for the quarter girls title in a game earlier right here on GPB and of course the five girls match up right here and of course the all boys game went to amazing quality as they defeated Tucker for the quarter.
Boys Championship.
And of course later on tonight, the five Boys championship will take place between Norcross and Wheeler, a most anticipated game right there.
But right now it's about the five girls.
This Collinsville crowd has plenty to cheer about here so far in the second half.
And after the time after it and with the basketball number 20, Leticia Whitley in the lineup, Franklin for three draws the foul right there and she will go to the line for three It's Maya moore committing the foul and they always say you never.
That's one of the few mistakes tonight for Moore but you never want to foul a three point shooter.
It's such a low percentage shot anyway that you know.
Amani Franklin nine points and a rebound here tonight.
It's the first.
She still got two more averaging right at 8.6 points a game this year and rattles home the second one.
And out of her 34, Mindy Greenstone will check back in for Collins Hill.
She had a big first half with eight points very active, had a great game in the semifinal two, three, four, three from the line right there by Imani Franklin.
And that's the quickest way to work your way back into a game just as good as a three point shot.
4731 and a three and a half to play here in this third quarter.
It's gonna blow back with y'all.
So we got courtside with us going to the action tonight here in this five girls championship.
Little bit of pressure right there.
Black brings it out, resets the offense up top no shot clock again in high school basketball.
You don't have to be in a hurry.
Heated inside or a lot of work To Brittney Cade, great patience, great look, great offense.
Chantelle Black just sees the floor so well.
Seems like she knows where all her players are at Great vision on the other end.
Three point shot is there for Johnson and that's Johnson's first points of the night.
That's a big three point shot right there.
And I'll tell you what, this Lady Raider team, they're not going to go away.
She did that block drives, look up, takes it all the way to the hole right there.
Chantelle Black saw the opening.
And I don't know why Redan is trying to take a right hand away, but everybody is taking a right hand away, blocking foul.
I'm going to be called on Maya moore.
No, that's not mine and not mine.
No, it's Brittney Cain.
And with that return for 218 left third period and Maya moore will take a seat as you see the field goals this quarter, two of six forward and nine of 11 for Collins Hill.
The Lady Eagles have just been on fire.
A shot from outside, two point shot just inside the arc there for 24, Johnson and Collins Hill in the zone.
And that's the way you break zone in back to back buckets right there by Johnson backdoor pass by Greenstone and a cut right there and they get it to go they ran the backdoor backdoor from the top of the key Ashley Austin with another field goal she's got 853 3518 point game here under 2 minutes left in the third inside four to Phillips in traffic This is it back out good look right there to Natalie Holder both teams seem to be pretty much scoring and will here again too strong right there by black One of the few shots she's missed here tonight.
Back on the other word.
Wow.
And a foul for Portia Phillips.
What a look by Leticia Whitley to now it looks like Redan is playing that game and feeling comfortable about themselves.
That was a great fast break.
Here it comes right here.
Here's the bounce pass.
And now the dish for the defense in dish great ball movement right there Phillips at the line chance for three and hits it so 11 points tonight for Portia Phillips the six to JR here we go again we're only four and they're only 13 down and Collins Hill just turned it over and coach Henry with every redan run gets off of that bench and gets a little more animated though Toronto Malone meanwhile trying to rally her troops and the foul they're going to wave off the bucket though and say it was on the floor and that's what Johnson, 42, has really picked it up here in the last minute or two with five points, nine cheering foul there.
Lord, it moved right there.
Portia Phillips has 13 points.
She's also putting on a clinic, seeing this full court pressure from her dad is just what the doctor ordered.
Ashley Austin, in guarded by Holder Greenstone being guarded by Franklin and a five second call, Chantelle Black tried to settle the time out but couldn't get it in time.
But we didn't have 5 seconds of success.
So under a minute here in this third period and the van trying to cut into that lead got it down to single digits, their shot off the mark by Holder.
They kept it alive.
Three point shot, Franklin off the mark, kept alive on a nice job by Holder once again, but then taken away by Cade.
Chantelle Black puts it up off the glass.
It wouldn't go and hold her out of there with it.
Now, Johnson on the other end and take it away and then a foul called on Franklin there in the backcourt as Kelly tried to break away their inside 10 seconds on that last fast break.
I'm surprised that Shantel did not know she had a trailer that was going to yell trailer, but I knew she knew she was there except for the lady who's standing right in front of us inbound the ball.
So, Felicia Dixon, double zero checks in for the first time tonight for the lady Raiders.
6 seconds left.
Lady Eagles shot of the bucket here.
Time winding down, Throws it up that foul and get a foul there I believe we did right before the buzzer and that'll do it for the third period 53 to 42 though.
Go ahead and look the clock.
Well, now they're going to go ahead, shoot the free throw right here.
Did Ashley Austin threw it up at the buzzer and we'll go to the line here and shoot a pair of hits on the first.
So a big break right here for Collinsville right before the buzzer sounded there and hits on the second.
So ten points for Ashley Austin and that'll do it for the period 5542 Collins Hill on top as we get set for the final 8 minutes of play from the arena at Gwinnett Center.
We'll return in a moment.
I wish that I could fly to the sky to bury her, just like a dragonfly 13 point lead for Collins Hill.
They lead it 55 to 42 over the red and Lady Raiders Dave Garner.
Bobak with you, Lisa Weiss, courtside with us here as we get set for the final 8 minutes of play.
And it's going to come down to this.
Both pilots here really grabbed a lot of momentum.
But this for Dante, they won't go away.
They get a lot of runs of their own here in this ballgame.
And they've been able to stay within striking distance to give them a lot of credit.
They got a big heart.
And every time it looks like they're blown out, they find a way to climb back in.
As you said, they've got to go full court press, you know, every possession.
They've got to play crazy hectic defense.
One quarter left for the state championship in the largest classification at Georgia.
The five eight title game right here between Collins Hill and Redan goes up and up.
There's a little alley oop look right there.
But going to have a whistle in the lane there.
And is that Franklin?
Looks like that alley oop was designed well that was going to go three That's the fourth foul on Imani Franklin and she hit the deck there pretty hard.
It's like she will stay in the lineup here, though, and let Eagles will inbound it underneath her own goal here off the inbound there.
Moore puts up the shot despite having her feet set Kelly for three no good brought down by Phillips.
Portia Phillips has really warmed up here, too.
She's had a solid game and the great looking time with the junior and going to get a foul there.
On Kelly, who lost her footing, slid right into Franklin.
The area forces officials have been busy tonight.
As we mentioned, the first all female crew to work a title game in Georgia, April Good, Shiri Ingle and Tammy Woodring.
And they have been busy tonight.
They've done a good job.
You know who Portia Phillips reminds me of?
Lisa Leslie Young.
She look like her and she plays like a Leticia Whitley from outside.
So off the Mark Phillips keeps it alive, though.
Can't quite get it to go.
And Moore is there for the rebound.
They clear it out to Austin.
And right now if you're Collins you certainly don't want to get away from the game plan because what you're doing is work.
But at the same time you don't have to be in a hurry as you see, the Lady Eagles kind of slow it down there a little bit.
Call a play and I'm sure they'll be more patient as the time lines down here.
And we're going to get a foul.
But take what Johnson take great luxury to have a teammate like Maya moore there to throw passes high low one side, the other side, and she seems to gobble everything up.
Brittney Cade back in the lineup and talking about Cade.
I mean, a junior averaged seven and a half points.
Well, I'll tell you what, she put those two on the floor.
That's a tough duo to have to guard right there.
Long range off the mark there on the other end.
Johnson, pull up.
No good.
Phillips, though, keeps it alive once again.
It puts it in there.
That's Portia Phillips with 15 points here tonight.
And she's chasing more for the game.
High.
Still just an 11 point game with 6 minutes left.
They get it inside and the foul right there to Maya moore.
Wow.
Chance for another three point play right there as you see the play once again look strong.
She is wow just powered up to the foul.
I Don't know one reason wasn't in full court pressure after that made basket.
They're going to be frantic now.
You're going to be going crazy defensively, creating turnovers.
On Franklin, backing in there and traveling Going to be called on Franklin back the other way here with 6 minutes left and every turnovers costly now.
From here on out the more than advancing the state by defeating Newton Houston County Beach in MacEachern in overtime last night Phillips had 24 in that game you can see the turnovers were down with 15 and Collins Hill with ten and coach Ronnie Malone wants to call a 32nd timeout talk things over here but her later Raiders trailing 5744 still a 13 point game.
Meanwhile Collins Hill's path against South Cobb Central Gwinnett defeated number two Marietta by four who trailed by ten In that game they had to come back and that one and of course the a win last night over Stephenson who had knocked him out of the two previous state tournaments last year of course, for the state championship, 6449 was the final on that one with great satisfaction.
This has to be from Collinsville and for the junior and senior players, you know, this is basically senior night for these seniors.
Both teams have a lot of seniors there and this is their final, final prep game.
This what a better way to go out playing in the arena here at center that's got a lot of younger players, too.
And you got to wonder how they would react coming into a big venue like this.
But a lot of these younger players seem to have handled the pressure pretty well.
Very well.
And, you know, of course, they've seen it in the semifinals.
So, you know, that's a hope shot off the mark there.
PHILLIPS Falling still won't go tough.
Miss Whaley, though, got a hand on it to keep it alive there defensively ball still loose and finally taken out of there by Chantelle Black who pushes the floor behind the back pass though but that's taken away good defense by Johnson who anticipated it races to the other end and that time to keep with Johnson just beat everybody to the other closing speed.
Holy cow Johnson Turn it on the Jets right there.
She outran about two or three lady Eagles to the who but Terrell Owens going deep knocked away last touch by Johnson.
I'll tell you what, Johnson has certainly picked it up here in the second half.
A junior averaging nine points and has played some defense.
Get it in and give me last touch by Austin Franklin again disrupting another pass in their key Coach Henry.
They said hey, get your head in the game right there.
And a little bit of pressure is being shown right here by Collins who Franklin though across midcourt with the basketball that pass too tall and no one touched it there.
So back to the Lady Eagles for Collinsville again a two time state champion with back to back titles in one and two.
The first two years of the five classification.
Trying to make it three here tonight.
Trying to deny Shenfield black.
They don't want her igniting the offense.
She's got it down.
Black is really the floor general out there.
It's about averaging right around six points.
She's got that tonight.
But more importantly, she really does a good job distributing the basketball.
It is a three point shot by more off the mark there and Phillips is out of there with it.
Bhatia will slow up What a pass Johnson inside up and in Johnson with nine points she hits her average here and it's just a nine point game BO nine point game with 4 minutes to go tell Black being guarded closely by Latisha Whitley Boston Looking up Top zero inside of Maya moore That's the alley oop technique to the other side.
And just when the lady raiders make a bit of a run right there, Maya moore shows up in the picture.
Franklin and Anthony footsteps dropped here by Franklin, who looked like she might have lost her balance a little bit.
Just try to stay standing up there, but got called for the travel number 50 and Alia Murray back into the lineup for Redan field goals this quarter three of seven for the lady Raiders, two of six Collinsville Austin again handling the basketball here a good bit down the stretch, three and a half to go Kelly being guarded by Johnson and a timeout going to be called by coach Embry is Collinsville Lady Eagles a full time out on the floor with 320 to go in regulation game still far from over but it's Collins Hill with an 11 point lead right here coach saw that offensive set didn't like what she saw and wanted to get get the ball out of their hands before they made the turnover.

Jim does a good job with that program there and.
I know.
I tell you what, Jim's good a guy that's certainly got a long weekend.
Yeah, he does, but he enjoys it, as do the rest of us.
Here.
Again, five a basketball coming up immediately after this one.
It's Wheeler and Norcross, the A boys matchup to cap off the first night of championship weekend here live on GPB Wheeler a team that certainly has a lot of tradition there in Norcross with a lot of good athletes and of course on into tomorrow and the Macon Coliseum the single day girls and boys match ups their first day at Double-A Dade County and Wesleyan.
They also have the Double-A boys game.
Little follow after that right through the triple-A, through the triple-A boys.
So a full day tomorrow in Macon and we hope that you'll join us for it starting at 11 a.m. after the time out, 303 left in the contest here, Collinsville.
Still with that 11 point lead Redan has been able to go on runs, as we've talked about.
But as soon as they rattle off a couple buckets, Collinsville does the exact same thing.
Maya moore gets more involved and it's almost she scores when they when they need her too.
Well, it seems like they have that type of athletic ability and skill.
They know each other so well, they know the offense, they're well-coached, as is Redan 1134 C 42 And when you have a player like Maya moore who bails you out in so many different ways that makes everybody better than 12 whack, 6.3 rebounds and you have a point guard like that young lady sent back to the line.
I mean, she ignites everything and Maya moore finishes it.
Well, as we mentioned, Maya moore is a big part of this team, but she's certainly not the only piece everybody really contributing.
Murray on the other end puts up a nice little hook shot right there.
She gets to go and Murray in double figures tonight with 1005 23 paid right here to fix it.
And Ashley Austin will bring it back out in being guarded closely by Imani Franklin and a kick ball right there at Phillips.
Yeah, you got to wonder when Redan will start to play the fouling game here.
They're almost I was going to say, right now we're running out of time.
There is still time, but you've got to get the ball.
Well, Khalil Hill is going to play Keep away and do it so well.
You've got to do something about it.
Two and a half minutes under, two and a half left now.
The clock is not to Allah.
You've got to do something.
Then it's pretty obvious that the Lady Eagles are content with running some of that time off the clock here and now.
Beau, just like you said, the Lady Raiders pretty much just playing defense right now, but there is no shot clock.
They don't have to shoot the basketball any more tonight, precious seconds ticking away as we go under 2 minutes.
You know, the thing is, other ladies other than Stanford's lacking Maya moore have touched the ball.
There it is.
Get that foul when you get the call right there.
Finally got the whistle there on Ashley, Ashley Austin at the line there as Franklin comes up with the foul and I believe that's going to be five on her that will be five on Imani Franklin.
It will foul out with a dozen points here tonight.
The six one junior with a great ball game and you hate to see her go as well as she's played here tonight.
She really did have a fun game.
Strong, tough, great rebounder Franklin will come out and number three Tanisha Kinsey will check in as you see Franklin coming on over to the bench.
He has worked hard here tonight.
Franklin, again, just a junior, will be back next year as a senior five for that state championship.
As Ashley Austin makes good at the line on her first loss in a senior trying to go out with another state championship.
And she's got a dozen 6350 back to a 13 point game here with 141 left.
They've got her.
Beau, back with you.
Lisa Reese, courtside.
Coming up, five boys, Charles Ward and Herb White will have the call finished.
Kinsey Murray kicks it back out.
It's up to Shanghai, off the glass.
A good shot right there by Kinsey.
Well put pressure now into black circles and out of it gets it across.
You have to foul right away.
Maybe Ryder's content right now still not out of it, though.
11 point game, but there's only a minute left and they finally get the foul.
Latisha Whitley and a one on one situation right here it looks like for Ashley Austin to restart Mindy Greenstone checks back in as you see Austin's numbers here, 12 points.
And check it out, though, eight of eight from the free throw line.
So a little streak on the line right here.
I thought we jinxed her.
Nine of nine at the line.
Can she do it again?
Here?
Ten of ten at the line tonight for Ashley Austin, who's got 14 points.
And she has made a living at the charity stripe here, 6552.
And now the Lady Eagles from Collins in the back door.
A lot of backdoor cut right here.
But Willie, a little into time there, unable to get the shot to go and a 32nd timeout going to be called it looks like by the lady raiders And with 40.3 seconds on the clock though this crowd they could feel it they are going to feel it and coach feels it too and that's why she's probably going to take all the starters out and get some kids a chance to say they played in the state championship game.
They will try to wrap this thing up 31 and one here in the 0405 season.
Angie Hamby has done a great job with that program on her seventh with the Lady Eagles.
They're good and they're starting to smile a little bit over there on the bench and certainly good reason.
Meanwhile, and take your hats off to the Lady Raiders.
A lot of teams would have folded against the number one team in the state, trailing by as many as they have throughout the game.
But tell you what, she got to credit Dad Collins has not really been able to put them away all night long.
Right now.
They've been very resilient.
Good idea for Coach to call a time out there.
And I think what she did was not only put some kids in, but told her team how to celebrate and heal after the disappointment of the last couple of years and made sure everything went right and nobody's spoiled this party, they're going to win the course.
Cassie Aarons, number 12 into the lineup for Hill to play out the final few seconds inside 20 seconds and just running out the clock right here and that one taken away it looks like whistle on the floor and you see the celebration.
Collins Hill, Lady Eagles starting to feel it there.
Brittney, Cade, it's a great game here.
Six points tonight on the bench.
Just see the hugs from coach Angie Hamby.
An emotional night, especially after last year and certainly don't want to focus on that, want to focus on this year.
But what a way for this Lady Eagle program to go out here this evening as a state champion.
Kasey Abrams at the line.
She's a little used senior guard hits the free throw right there.
The thrill for her.
Aaron's in the book and makes it two of two.
Nothing but the bottom of the net right there on those 211 seconds left, 6752 Kinsey and knocked away here, 3 seconds left, throws it up.
Nearly got it.
Still some time on the clock and that is going to do it, I believe that shot by Aarons will count and it will.
So 69 to 52, the final here is they gave her credit for the last two in the celebration is on the Collins hill Lady Eagles are your class five a 2005 state champions good for them and good for returning to the way they fought good for their hearts, the way they compete.
It was a great game.
And I don't know if you noticed tonight, but Maya moore on that last shot went up and touched the rim.
Unbelievable.
Unbelievable.
Five boys, of course.
Coming up next here, Collins Hill ends the season ranked number one, 31 and one overall on the year.
Just one loss out of state in the national tournament.
And the celebration is on at midcourt.
Take your hats off again to the Redan Lady Raiders as you see that final score there.
Once again, 6952.
Lisa is standing by with the winning coach, Coach Angie Hambrick, I know last year you guys shed a lot of tears.
I don't think there's going to be any tears this year.
What can you say about these girls?
I mean, the greatest thing about these kids is how close they are, how hard they worked and how they waited for this moment for a year.
I am so proud of them.
I'm so proud of the seniors.
Kasey, Aaron's hitting those two free throws at the end.
Just a wonderful child.
And it's just a great bunch of girls.
I mean, they're just wonderful.
I can't help but notice that you are cheering on the fans at the end of the game.
What can you say about these people behind you, Miss?
They've been with us through thick and thin, the pink ladies, the administration it call and tell the kids just that.
It's a great place to be.
Congratulations so much.
Thank you.
Good luck.
Next.
Back to you.
Maya moore with a game on 24 and the Collinsville Lady Eagles win the Class five championship, 6952.
That's going to wrap things up by the boys.
Up next for our tire crews for Bobak.
I'm Dave Gardner.
Say it's so long, everybody.
It's been fun.

Welcome back, everybody.

Five eight basketball.
Great game with the girls.
Just a moment ago.
The boys are getting ready to tee it up about three weeks ago, about three weeks ago on prep sports.
Plus, we covered another championships, if you will.
We traveled to Columbus, Georgia, and we featured the girls that spend most of the time on the sidelines cheering for other teams.
They worked as a team in their cheerleading championships in all five classifications.
And one of the classifications that we covered was five eight.
We have those highlights for you from Columbus.
You don't you know, I'm sorry I had the turntable on the wrong speed.
You want to try it again?
This is your girls look like they had so much fun out there.
What can you say about what this team has done this year?
Well, we've been working very, very hard all year.
We've had a lot of injuries this year.
I've had to put a lot of alternates into our routine.
We had our very first region championship this year.
We are very excited about that.
Excited to be here.
The girls nailed an awesome routine and we're just going to hope for the best.
Well, good luck to you.
Go.
Thank you.
Thank you.
But did you just shoot right up to get a dunk and might be doing pick up your job?
Maybe yourself.
