These two schools are the biggest rivals in their conference, their next door neighbor.

So on top of just seeing each other all year long, they're going to see each other during the off season as well, too.

So this is a game about bragging rights.

Also versus your biggest robbery of the year.

And they've got a big presence in Toshi Thompson, someone who decided to take a nickname and stuck with it.

What was the vibe at school like this year?

You go for a repeat?

Well, I would say be honest.

Starting a year out, you know, the expectations weren't as high because, know, we had a lot of seniors to graduate.

And last year I think we lost five stars on last year, got in a few new players and some of the younger guys stepped up.

And we're back here again.

And the excitement and the commitment kind of picked up midway and it's going to trickle down to the community.

And now we're back here again.

You don't rebuild, you reload.

That's great.

We were all very, very excited.

We were looking forward to this evening and we believe that we're going to be victorious.

Well, you know, you've had a lot of success there at Southwest to have high school talk about what's going on at your school these days.

Well, I think that even when I speak to the students, I think that the students that we can describe them, first of all, the student athletes, they are exceptional in the classroom and they know that it's been very important for them to excel academically.

And that helps in assist in on the feet on the court as well.

Absolutely.

You know, the girls have won a lot of state championships.

So we wish you good luck to that.

We have to let our defense dictate what we do on offense, and we got to pick up the defensive intensity.

Well, we're coming out the second half and do a better job playing defense.

All right, guys, you heard it.

Let's see if Coach Breedlove is going to get her way.

And Sean, I guess when you look at the scope of this first half, it's turnovers and fouls when we get to the highlights.

Well, here's the thing.

A combined 28 turnovers and 19 fouls, not a solid first half of good basketball.

There were some tee shots being made, a lot of steals, a lot of deflections.

But in order for this game to improve, to get better, both teams have to protect the basketball, continue to hit outside shots like Martin.

But you have to stay solid and stay focused.

You just can't lose the composure.

MARTIN The only player in double figures for either squad finishing with ten for Southwest, The cab, Tashi Thompson and Clarissa Weaver led Miller's Road with six H, Anastasia Clay with the two.

Unfortunately, the way the players are playing so much, swatting so many fouls, being actively deciding here on the court.

Unfortunately in the Grizzlies do have the officials you have to blow the whistle and back to the free throw line for Miller Grove misses the first again, you saw Dice Alexander getting some advice from Cathie Walton.

You know, Stevenson, Tucker, they were all ranked top three in the in the state all year long.

We're ones that cracked up.

Anybody who comes out every year is going to be ready for states out of all the state titles.

Oh, this is amazing because the kids were so young and they're so home and they had to learn so much.

So it is is right up there among the top.

It's a blessing to play with my teammates.

We had our opens in downs and everything, but we came out with a win and I'm so proud of us.

Talk about this game a little bit because it was a game of runs.

You guys had a small lead at the half.

You took a big lead in the third quarter.

You almost lost that lead.

Those back and forth, back and forth in the fourth quarter.

I mean, it was it was hard because Middle was a great team and we played them.

We played them back and forth, back and forth during the regular season.

So we really just had to come out and just believe in ourselves and believe in our coaches and just just have confidence in our field.

And that's what one of the games we know what the fans believe in.

You too.

How important are your fans?

They are very important.

They support, I say, school.

That's just what is it before we have it's always the Cavs.

So they really great things to talk about about the program because you won three supposed to have I think in 2000 3000, nine, 2010 and now in 2013 you get the fourth one is I mean, I was in ninth grade when we went our last way.

So me being as hands very I was you know, I was I really want to ahead I really want to reign.

I really want to give my coach something that that I really want.

Get my coach something that'll mean something else mean something to me and mean something to my team.

So our organization is great.

I mean, we work hard in practice.

We work hard in practice.

After practice, we have a bye.

So listen to organization.

Great.

Talk a little bit about this year's team because it was a mix.

There were some seniors like yourself.

There are a lot of young players presence and sophomores as well.

We had to work here because a lot of our younger players are very good and we did.

We we had to believe in our team.

We had to believe in each other.

So Being that we had younger players, it was days we had to believe in them and we had made them within ourselves as well.

And being an I'm not a starter, it was just it was great because just to look at them and to see them getting so young, it was it was great.

That's happiness right there is the happiness is it's it's great.

That is what it's all about.

Yeah They kind of remind me of the small schools from the old days where kids had to play football and basketball and every sport in their school, and these guys got kind of a late start getting their groove because they won the football championship mid-December.

And as I was talking to D.J.

Shockley, he played basketball in high school and football.

He said, it always takes you a few weeks really, to convert over from playing football, basketball, the conditioning is different, hand-eye thing is different.

So it took a while, but once they hit their stride, man and look back and on the other side, Miller Grove an opportunity to make it five straight champions championships for sure.
