He's coming in.
It's a slam jam to pull up from three to watch this guy go wheel drive, backs it in.
He gets it.
Welcome to the Making Colosseum of the Making Center.
Plex Day two has turned into night.
Number two, we're getting ready for another championship, this time on the girls side.
The girls five, eight.
Championship Battle of Regions, six Miller Grove coming in with a record of 25 and five Southwest, a cab with a record of 23 and eight.
Good evening from the center of it all.
Making madness, John, here, Sean here.
And it's a rematch of last year's championship game.
No secrets as they play for the fifth time, no secrets.
Both teams are going to come out here with two things heart and hustle.
You know, you talk about these particular squads.
They know each other backwards, forwards, region, play all the way through.
And when you have a particular activity like this, you see each other 12 months out of the year.
It means that much more of this particular song.
You hit the nail on the head 12 months of the year.
These two schools are the biggest rivals in their conference, their next door neighbor.
So on top of just seeing each other all year long, they're going to see each other during the off season as well, too.
So this is a game about bragging rights.
Also versus your biggest robbery of the year.
All right.
Let's talk about the defending champs in Miller Grove.
And they've got a big presence in Toshi Thompson, someone who decided to take a nickname and stuck with it.
Deuce, Deuce, as I called her last year, which she does, is special.
She's a great shooter.
As you see her stroke right there, she's going to come out.
It's not a knock down the three early, get some early points on the board.
Then you talk about Miller Grove.
That's one team down.
Cathie Walton trying to get her fourth title at Southwest and Gab.
And a young person shall lead them this time around.
Yeah.
Tiny, smart man.
I love this girl.
What she does is very special with her athletic ability and way to see rebounds in defense, she'll score off the dribble.
She just go up offensive opportunities of attack in the glass.
She'll be all over the place.
She's a special player.
One you love to watch.
Third member of our broadcast team is going to patrol the sidelines for us this evening.
Raven, Toronto, Raven, what's the early word?
Good evening, John.
Guys, this game is unique.
Like you mentioned before, this is the fifth meeting for these two teams tonight.
I was talking to Coach one earlier and she's concerned about the experience.
Every team says we're young.
She goes, I don't know if that's going to go in our favor or go against us.
You know, if it's going to be scrappy basketball or the enthusiasm will work in their favor.
I asked her also, I was like, Has this turned into a rivalry since I blessed the high school basketball season?
She says.
Actually, it has.
Even though Miller Grove has only been around for maybe about nine years, she goes.
The fact that we've played them so much has created really a big rivalry between these two teams.
So they're looking for blood tonight.
All right, Raven, Toronto, thank you very much.
We will be listening to you all night on the sidelines.
Take a look at our starting lineups brought to us by our friends at Regions Bank.
It's time to expect more.
What we expect from Milagros is going to be Shaquanda Dirt and Tasha Thompson, Katie Hunte, Clarissa Weaver, who's heading to USC Asheville and Nephew Delphia is the fifth member of the youth of the starting five for Miller Grove for Southwest Acad.
Wingate Walker, Jason Alexander, Tiny Martin, who we just focused on, and Maya Crowder, the fifth member of the starting five for Cathie Walton.
Now let's take a look at the keys to the game starting off with Miller Grove Keys.
The game brought to us by our friends at the technical college system of Georgia Tech.
Learn more, Earn more.
Sean from Miller.
Grow and grow.
Stay focused.
Yes, you up 3 to 1 in the series for the season, but stay focused.
This is what it's all about.
Again, going back to that loss revenge.
Now let's go to the flip side and Southwest DeKalb, What about them?
Just do a great job of protecting the basketball.
You're going to see the pressure there for Milagro continue to fight.
She has a very young squad this year, so continue to fight.
And coach knows her team is in for a long battle this evening.
Once again, keys to success for the game brought to us by our friends at TCC.
The Technical College System of Georgia.
Learn more, earn more there.
Southwest a cab and Kathy Walton.
Kathy Walton won 2008 2009 2010.
She brings out the young squads to Southwest to Gap this time around a rematch from last year's championship game stretch.
Earlier in the year, Southwest, a camp had actually lost four of six, and that was in December to the end of the year.
So they were at a point to where they were actually hovering around 500, started the year 65.
So you're talking about a great turnaround for Cathie Walton at the right time.
They've won their last seven games coming into the championship.
And there's your tip picked up by Southwest to camp Southwest to cap first half will be going from right to left.
They're in the light colored uniforms in the middle of Grove Dark Miller drove the Wolverines will be heading from left to right as you watch Little grove with likes they are playing in a matchup zone extended their pressure force up with the tap to play deeper outside on the perimeter ball knocked out of bounds 20 seconds in it's going to stay with southwest two captains Ronnie Bridwell to getting the first championship for the Wolverines last season for the girls.
Now the girls are playing right here with the guys when it comes to championship basketball, much like Columbia yesterday.
When it comes to talking about Miller Grove basketball, you're out talking about the boys and the girls.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly right.
Because, Bri, love is trying to mimic what the boys are doing and having a good, successful season.
Kasey Thompson can't control the pass into the paint and it's a turnover for Southwest to cap 35 seconds in no score it is it almost two where you've seen each other five times it's almost mirror images and you don't want to play on autopilot even though you know what to expect.
I know it's going to be blood.
You know it's going to be blood.
At the beginning of this stage of this game, both teams want to come out in attack mode.
So who's the better team in the beginning?
There's Kathy Wall, the head coach for Southwest, a cap, 25 year residence cap count.
He's had a couple of kids go through the system so she knows what the cap county basketball's been all about as both a coach and a parent.
FALLON Clarissa Weaver, her first of the ball game for everyone, shot up no good, knocked out of bounds and we'll try it again.
And the lady you want to talk about a person that you really can get great advice from can't get any better advice than from Buck Godfrey at Southwest Camp, the longtime head football coach.
Their legend in the cap county.
You want to talk about a sounding board?
Cathy Walsh got one in Buck coming right out of the ball.
And it was a great sophomore year on the same thing.
We talked about Tammy Smart in the beginning her after they could be able to hit an ability to rebound.
She did a great job securing the offensive rebounds, get a chance to get two points on the board.
Tony Smart with the free throw up and good and Clarissa Weaver picks up her second foul in the first minute of the game.
So something to put a circle on for all of us right now.
Hey, the chance to score.
I'm looking at her stroke compared to where it was last year.
Let's move it.
She's putting a lot more under control.
Tony Smart could go off for a huge game tonight.
So.
So rival setting now for us.
So we were taking a seat after only 55 seconds of action might be a concern for Coach Breedlove as we continue to go bounce pass inside almost off the glass.
But it was partially blocked and knocked out of bounds with a simplistic, cavalier attack and then get the ball inside those play.
But here's the thing about early jitters, John.
Whenever you get to the free throw line, free throw line early in the game, you actually put pressure on the defense because now they want to tell you about fouling.
That's a game.
The team through Maya Crowder with the first free throw up and in three nothing now Southwest if you have a minute for foreign second free throw up and short rebound picked up by Miller drove like you saw earlier today ways to beat the press and get it down to four very quickly is try to gain route pass and they work a diagonal almost called a carry.
There are critical to carry they didn't the military was not going to try to work their offense around the perimeter.
Good man to man first best stuff was the cab.
The standards for me, the person you're guarding is actually Thompson inside off the back of the rim.
No good spot for rebound up and in by saliva set three to Milagros first points on the board ball stolen away Miller drove two for two coming down pull up off the elbow Too strong for the inside off the hands look like Katie Price is going to go to southwest the cab coming back you both both teams playing up and down the court with a lot of speed and a lot of energy.
You have to come down sooner or later to play within the solid rhythm and see who can do that first drive.
With three quarter point pressure, looks like almost a 2 to 1 trap Southwest to cap beats it gets it across half court.
I'll try to figure out a way to set up their offense bounce pass inside double clutch off the rim No good fight for the inside.
Almost a jump ball situation.
Looked like it was bounced off of tiny smart out of bounds.
We'll see where it stays and it's like it's going to go to Miller, Caruthers said.
It.
Martin kicked it, so it's a turnover and Miller Grumbling bounced.
Yeah.
Do you?
Duffy You've been doing a great job of securing their rebound off the Miss by Southwest to cap is he's a better outlet so you check in with the basket dangerous right at the halfcourt line nothing he does the inbound so they're setting up the offense is Katie Hunter making the dribble drive stops at the elbow pass catcher Thompson and a foul inside probably takes Martin over on the other end Look at a foul on Walker Yeah this time she just getting a chance to drive by She's a leading scorer on this team with 13.9 points a game she can get to get to the free throw line and get to the Bulls first free throw up and in substitution for Southwest to cap.
And I said to chase her in this area Walker out second free throw rims out no good there's a price off the miss self listed can watch for the back to you pull up easy break ball deflected by Surratt bless it we're going to call a whistle and Lisette gets her second foul So that's two players two pieces of tall timber for Miller Grove getting two fouls very, very quickly.
We're two and a half minutes in two players with 2000 plus catch on.
Both teams don't want this type of cold game.
You want to have the players play, let the players decide the championships and not necessarily the whistles by the official first free throw up and in for Alexander Great as is the second southwest to cap now at five three and there's a look at your referee's Howard Hall's arrest So pull and look at Crawford working the edges.
Coming up on 3 minutes gone here first quarter southwest to cab leading Miller Grove five three.
As we determine the class five AA champion, it will be out of region six.
You just don't know who yet.
It's like they're calling it kick ball with the a turnover by Miller Grove Southwest to Campbell bring it back down it's just Johnson the most foul Well they call the foul but there's so much aggression going on right now and the officials actually need to realize that and maybe kick back or actually coax the players together here some time on the next big ball.
LYCETT With three fouls.
Clarissa Weaver with two fouls all in the first 2 minutes and 50 seconds for Miller.
GROSS Well, you know, that's to be expected.
Both teams are going to take one another this is a fifth time meeting, so don't think they're going to come out and play passive.
Everybody scheme to attack mode to show what they can do to win this championship.
That was a good citizen underneath the basket for Southwest to get by Crowder with the two is cleared 3 minutes gone south lost to cab now 7 to 3 pull up pop inside is good for Caruso Weaver who had to come back in.
Notice that she retreated back down the floor very very quickly It's nice Nice touch there for ten feet.
Men get a penetration.
Good pass.
Good catch, nice stroke.
Olive grove cuts the southwest to cab advantage to score.
Easy to pull.
Milagro called for delay a game.
We've got to keep an eye on that.
Now to the turn out being a technical foul the other way Turnover by Southwest to cap Miller Drive with their pressure pass to the inside off the glass up and in for two Katie High Yeah good finish here by Hunt good pass good play by girl deuce deuce to someone Taser's tied at seven now four and a half minutes and counting in the first quarter Southwest a tab looking jumper off the rim No good rebound coming back out Tasha Thompson double team ball on the floor they get the timeout called in time and then they did not get the timeout called in time Is that an error so it's two Miller Grove a jump off teams a pressing seven seven game 4 minutes and 12 seconds here in the first quarter still trying to get a rhythm of the game Both players all the players are going up and down the court aggressively attacking, trying to do it.
Teardrop from the Elbow didn't quite work out of the scrum.
Miller Grove comes back out with it.
They're going to try to reset under 4 minutes to go here.
In the first they don't back it out for Miller Grove looking to drive stops at the elbow pass baseline jumper misses everything back up no good Norgrove missing a second opportunity back from southwest you can Norgrove picking up the pressure just past half court just outside three point line count it.
Wow that's something he's added to her arsenal.
That young lady is going to be special down the road.
Great stroke there by Martin Chase Martin with the 397 Southwest to cap Martin now with four points in round round pick pass inside intercepted by Southwest.
The cab will come back the other way with it.
Gavin Wingate passes over.
Martin pulls up again off the rim.
No good rebound picked up by Southwest.
A cab going back inside with an off the glass up and in easy to for Chinese margin That's why we talked about Martin at the beginning if she explodes it will be in step with the Cavs favor.
Now she has at least six seven points here in the first quarter whistles as Tasha Thompson was trying to bring it across, midcourt the sophomore guards are saying to Shazier call for the foul for Southwest to cap that is her first and we're going to take a break 249 to go first quarter Southwest a cab leading Miller Grove Miller Grove trying to get their penetration and trying to repeat as champs.
Region six will have your sample have the answer when we come back here on GPB from Making Madness in the Making Center Cineplex.
And welcome back.
Macon Coliseum, Macon Cineplex, 249 for the first quarter here.
And Shaun, the biggest issue is foul trouble, and that's all in black right now.
Exactly right there that's been sitting there to your right with three fouls.
And as you move to the left and weave it to your right with two fouls here in the first quarter, John, and both teams combined combined with seven fouls here in the first 6 minutes, 7 minutes, 5 minutes here of the quarter.
And that's not good too, because the fouls are now controlling the tempo of the game.
John, you talk about teams that want to play up and down the floor.
You get fouls, it starts and stops and you're not able to get any kind of a tempo or a rhythm for a championship.
HE Exactly right.
And not to be critical in a certain way, but as an official, you got to understand what's at stake here.
This is a fifth time playing the style of play.
They do play and they are going to be some fouls.
You just can't call everyone, a lot of players to make the plays.
Miller brother missed their last four before making that shot right there.
Southwest.
The Cavs make three of their last five and Tashi Thompson with the bucket.
Now Miller Grove is four of nine from the floor here in the first southwest to cab three of nine Southwest to Cavs at 11 to 10.
Missed a shot there, took a swipe trying to get the ball back after the Miss Miller coming back out with it.
It's going to keep an eye on it was Katie Hutton.
She's going to spin to get out of traffic.
Yeah, she's doing a great job of controlling the ball, especially versus the press.
But she got it.
No force turnovers.
That was unforced turnover right there.
Just be simple with the play.
It was trying to get it to Tashi Thompson and in all of the the scrum and battle is last touch by Thompson to bring it back and look at those numbers right there Miller Grove six boards four turnovers Southwest to cab three, three and three Southwest to Kam under 2 minutes to go dribbling into the paint.
11 to 10 ball out of bounds is going to go back to Miller Grove again.
There's no rhythm, John.
Everyone's is going a little helter skelter, playing through the fouls, not being in a smooth rhythm, a smooth mindset.
It may take us another quarter to get that rhythm going.
Take a look at Tiny Smart in there.
She's got six points leading Southwest to Cab, one of three players to score.
Crowder has three.
Alexander has the other team for Miller Grove Darcy Thompson with four Horace Weaver and set with two weeks pass inside batted away Nice pressure by southwest at that pass all the way down for the nice hack on the way up to try to prevent the bucket John you put the word took the words right out of my mouth That was a hack good foul solid foul.
Not allowed to heat the basket in transition.
But again, we haven't got to a solid pace, a rhythm within the game.
So following fouling could take a brown her first 94 seconds to go for the first free throw up and in by Darcy and she's way southwest to Kat Chance 2829 2010 And they agreed love that Miller broke their first champ of the championship on the women's side last year looking to repeat in a rematch of last year's championship here 90 seconds to go first quarter Miller Grove in their offensive end they are battling it out and a two person game with Thompson to take the brown out working the perimeter right now, trying to figure out a way to get room to penetrate that southwest to cap defense was at the right zone 70 seconds to go Miller girls having a lot of problems working it in.
You know, John, not necessarily.
I think they want to get good shot.
Sometimes you got to take your time to be patient.
See, the defense gives is going to force it to the floor shot is equivalent to a turnover.
Tassie Thompson doing exactly that coming back the other way trying to do well defensively to get the ball back Jumper no good Thompson comes out with it double teamed after the rebound MG Trying to come down to the break not working for it that particular time was Clarissa Weaver out of bounds and it's going to head back to Southwest a catch.
They generally talked about the beginning of the broadcast.
How focused this Milagro team needs to be with the turnovers, with the carelessness, with the fouls, the focus may have slipped a little bit and the advantage now maybe leaning towards Steph was the gap 44 seconds, 14 seconds remaining in the quarter.
We'll see if Southwest Cab can work on their two point advantage that they've got right now.
Pressure all the way out to the halfcourt line by Miller Grove.
No need to foul that far away from the basket the stand from the offense Move your feet tiny, smart and looking to drive Throws it up against the glass trying to do something They're going to call Steph.
Yeah she was very fortunate because that would have been in charge there on Martin.
She didn't need that, especially this early in the game.
Milagros coming down with 20 seconds to go here in the first quarter down a bucket.
Well, all of this helter skelter stop and start pace down to 12.9.
Now, just a little Miller dribble.
Hang on to it.
You see right there, Renee Breedlove is not happy with what's going on in the first half.
I don't think both coaches are happy right now because it just can't get a sequence of good, solid basketball going with all the stopping and then all the fouls looking to pass it in from the corner, knocked away, 10 seconds to go off the rim, no good.
Second chance blocked, third chance off the bottom of the backboard coming out with it three, two and one.
Kathy Walt wanted to travel.
We got a whistle now with 8/10 and southwest a cab up to Miller Grove coming into that possession.
It only made one of their last seven.
And that possession didn't necessarily improve matters much.
No, it did not.
John Foul on Brown will be her second lot of activity going down underneath the basket and that's going to do it for the end of the first quarter.
That's it for the first quarter for your ten southwest to cap up 1210 after one.
It's a rematch of the 2012 championship game.
Region six going to have their champion after the next 24 minutes, we're going to come up to see who's going to take advantage in the second quarter.
We return to make it here on GPB.

No cheerleaders.
What is it the young kids say these days, Sean representing represent teams are representing representing I represent what I was trying to represent yo okay so that's what the Miller cheerleaders representing you know, they're down to after 8 minutes.
Well, here's the thing.
No John Miller, the world needs to understand this.
Whenever a team makes more free throws.
Telling year himself was the Cavs six eight from the free throw line in the first quarter MG one for two.
That's a recipe for disaster, which is five point difference right there and a two point game.
Miller Grove working with it on offense, start of the second quarter down 1210 second and Durden got it from Willow Grove looking inside to start kicking it back to you after you go to the middle girl come out now a lot of movement, a lot of bad screens, UCLA, UCLA screen, block to block screens, good movement, patience, trying to wear down the defense and get a high percentage shot.
That was good coaching there out of the time out there from Coach Breedlove Kaitlyn Kelly with the foul that's going to be her first about is coach Breedlove still looking at she's trying to find an equation that's going to work for you and I think she was found in there.
John, what's the movement going for Southwest to cap to actually switch on screens, help on the drives, a lot of move in their half court offense.
Now four more gross to go on a dirty looking pass.
Toshi Thompson not far enough comes back for the block The two step back is up and in for Southwest the Cavs Tony Stark Yeah dirty just not comfortable out there on the perimeter try to do too much Created a turnover and two easy baskets here for Southwest at that margin now 1410 a minute in looks like it was kicked by Caitlyn Jenner the turnover battle now nine for Miller throws and we're only 9 minutes into play They've already got nine turnovers wardrobe inbound underneath the basket Try to spring somebody wrong they just lobbed over the top into the paint Quick turn jumper off the glass No good rebound thought for Southwest the Cavs going to come out with it Maya Crowder inside gives it to Devin Wingate Southwest to Campbell Bring it up John There's a lot of fight in the Southwest.
The cap team did come out at the beginning first quarter here, the second quarter with a lot of Harden hustle and determination tonight's contest Wingate Kelly Crowder, three of the five for Southwest the Cavs we start the second quarter shot by Wingate no good Katie Hunt with a familiar throw trying to dribble through to if not three Southwest to complete the film Simplify the game, simplify the game, Try to do too much.
And John, we talked about focused in the beginning they may be focused in a wrong mindset focus to actually win the game or play the game.
You got to play two games first before you win it.
10th turnover in the game for Miller Grove, they've only hit one of their last seven from the floor Southwest to Campbell has hit one of their last five.
See if they can improve on that here with this particular possession as we approach 2 minutes gone second quarter, 6 minutes to go, first half Kelly and Wingate up top left pass inside to Tony Smart and looking to drive off the elbow tries to throw it up knocked up and southwest to cab trying to drive Taylor Kelly goes out of bounds and it's going to go to Miller Grove fifth turnover to southwest to cat Well John if you know if you've noticed, officials have kind of held their whistles on the last few plays here in both on both possessions of the ball.
So I think officials are now going to let these girls play and see who determines to be on top of the in off the glass.
Easy to that side for Katie Hunt right now with four points.
We're back to 1412 on a two point ball game with Southwest again.
Yeah, that's a stretch for the hunt.
Been able to use her size and strength to get inside the paint with a pull up jump shot.
She may need to do that a little bit more to clear victory tonight Wingate looking to drive kicks it out to points Good for Garson to Chaison They're going to give her a three to make it 16 to 12.
So he stays there with the plus.
It has three points in the ballgame.
Those are two.
Nice throw.
It's all three.
Great rhythm.
Deuce, deuce, baby, deuce, deuce.
That's what I've called her.
And she's been holding on to that.
John.
With a stroke like that, she could indeed continue to coach tonight.
We'll see if she continues to earn a foul on Kalen Kelley.
That'll be her second.
She checks up the southwest, drop off the elbow jumper no good by you.
Dozier fighting for it and trying to maintain possession.
Miller drove kick it all the way back out on dirt and look at the pass No.
One.
Their turnover goes over the southwest.
You can go it's Breedlove looking to substitute very quickly.
Could take him around coming back and replacing Shaquanda Dirt and it looks like she's still trying to find that right?
Still trying to find it.
Still trying to find it.
Just had to smooth out yet could possibly take an entire half.
Hopefully not the entire game.
Bottom line is you want to make the table faster.
So let's good for dinner.
When you serve in it, you get around.
It doesn't matter how it looks done this as long as we eat and you want to win.
And at 445 to go first half 16, 12 southwest to catch nothing you do she is looking to inbound for the Wolverines now bring it up fairly slowly this time Sarita Brown in the game now familiar MG Southwest cab so far take it for when it comes to points opportunities in this particular ballgame knocked out of bounds by Gavin Wingate she's going to square up to Shaka Brown.
She won that battle, knocked it out of bounds, and all the girls going to have to reset to take a Brown and Tashi Thompson getting a bit of a break this time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Both teams trying to again find that rhythm get the right players in give the players that played a lot of minutes a little bit of risk crossing the finish out the first half dangerous inbound pass to Amani Richardson trying to be put over with one of the top two passes to go to it just blocked wide as she tried to throw it by Tony Smart didn't get offensive basketball passing and moving, passing, leaping.
But here's the block going to meet by Martin Just timing it right Nice blocking, lady.
Nice, good athletic ability.
She's going to be special.
Only a sophomore.
Only a sophomore.
MARTIN Guarding the inbound gets a piece of it, but Miller Drug comes up with it.
You know how often it is.
I mean, it's going to go the other way.
And Martin calls that being active jumping deflections.
She's doing things to her strength.
This is not to her weakness.
Easy to that time with Marissa Weaver.
She definitely needed that to try to get in there.
Yes, she did.
Oh 1614 Southwest at Gap 420 to go first at Shay's, you're trying to bring it up the floor is impressive.
The ball use your length.
Great deflection, great steal.
Finish with the left of the glass.
Great job, Weaver.
Weaver.
We say heading to North Carolina Asheville when her days are done here at Miller Grove for 15 and counting.
First half 14 into the corner this time into the paint spin.
Move off the right hand off the glass.
No good.
Miller coming out with it, trying to work their way back down in transition down two possibly the time they need to take the lead with a three.
Do you see that tenacious defense by Southwest?
He can he gets up, always gets up, steals deflections again another deflection use our hands on the ball causing the turnover there time to take it Brown loses control and it's going to go over to Southwest to cab.
When we come back, 3 seconds past the halfway point here in the second quarter, Southwest a can leading Miller Grove, 16 to 14.
Tough defense is the way in the day so far.
We'll have more.
We come back to the Macon Coliseum and the great GPB.

I can't rhyme, John.
I can see the last 30 seconds.
What are you talking about?
Southwest?
It can break with pressure.
There's a game stats.
Big rebounding advantage right there.
Familiar Drove in a bit to the southwest David days of play Yeah yeah Great.
Finish down low breaking the press simplifying it with a finish there for the deuce Second quarter field goal numbers Southwest cab three of five mg 2 to 5 60% in 40%.
Southwest the cab up four 1814.
You're getting close to 3 minutes to go here in the first half to determine the class five championship pass the inside on the cup.
They're going to call steps on the way down four times, three times selfless the cab doing a great job of attacking first of all with the pass, but getting a pass half court against any kind of pressure.
Don't pull up attack get the rim big pass by Brady just finish 14th Miller Grove turnover only seven so far for southwest the cab of the ball far too many turnovers to be down by only four 3 minutes to go in the first half.
Davion Wingate looking for an entry basically play spinning around trying to find some of the pass to Cutter doesn't quite work.
Turn over to Miller Grove but you get play diving for.
Yes he makes the pass Supposed to catch coming out of it's Wingate with the jumper off the rim.
No good MG is going to try it again.
You have four bodies around it for Southwest again.
They can't come out with numbers for a brief second up and in foul on days of play.
This is a weaver's amazing play was the key factor in that whole entire process.
Johnson was able to come down here, get the loose ball, get on the floor, got back up, sprinted down the court.
Here's a replay here just basically have to play up and down using verticality and you won't have the foul free throw off the back of the rim.
No good stop loss to Cavs leads back to two in 1816, two and a half to go first down Wingate looking to pass age in playing a dangerous place.
Why that half court has to bring it up herself.
A front court player having to cross half court shot up no good, fought 4 to 4, Southwest to cab going after it.
We've got a foul on the inside.
It looks like it's on Weaver and that's going to be first third.
These are 213 to go first half.
Clarissa Weaver is now saddled with three fouls and they're going to bring in Krystal as a chip with the ninth grader to take over for Teressa Weaver.
First free throws.
No Jordan as Weaver's number six one senior center heading to NC Asheville.
She's a solid player.
John They're going to need her to be on the court in the second half.
That's okay.
It's a two point game with 213 to go in the half second free throw off the front of the rim.
No good shot for them.
They take over the back on Maya Crowder.
We'll bring it back down the other way.
A lot of times coaches say play hard, play hard, but at the same time you have to play smart.
So that was not a smart play there, even though it looked hard from the outside for the fans, but wasn't a smart play to come on her back for the foul.
Coming up on 2 minutes to go.
First half losing control of the basketball with Katie Hunt.
There's a play on the floor one more time for Southwest to cap and see.
The thing is basically has been the one that's been very aggressive up front.
She's not absorbing the house.
She's the one receiving the fouls because the first one down the floor, Burke Wesson with something.
But look at that.
She's there on the floor to get rid of the loose.
She's a dab down and she's going to be the one on the receiving end of the foul against LeBron James.
The play very active in the last minute and a half to 2 minutes foul on Hunt.
That'll be her first to go with her four points foul on the reach and trying to go for the steal once like they're going to call it on Katie Hunt.
Yeah both teams now starting to reach a little bit more getting down to the half half time point.
You have to play with your feet first.
Not your hands, but your feet first.
If the opportunity comes, John, to get the jump ball opportunity for the steal that second, move your feet first and called on three to brown instead it'll be her foul first free throw up and in for Casey Kelly Kelly the 10th great guard second throw good she goes two for 24. margin now 40 to 60 W Wingate now back in the ballgame for Southwest to cap off the exchange.
Good quality minutes for Casey Kelly gets her two points gives Wingate a bit of a break now when gets to come back in to the last 2 minutes of the second quarter Goldburg trying to walk the outside.
Katie Hunt Double team dribbles through it.
Bounce pass to the inside, off the glass.
Great.
Good shot for inside You don't see it gets the two Yeah it is staying with the play able to come up with the offensive rebound and put back to lead is down to two coming up on 80 seconds to go first half holding back nicely and putting the ball in the nice Alexander Oh my gosh this up list that that team was always going to attack made them miss baskets they love transition basketball 20 to 1870 seconds to go first half and a foul on Wingate on the reach in that last two coming down the floor There's more than just attacking they're in transition good finish their bounce and nice freshman coming in getting good minutes seems to be championship game when she has a chance to possibly play for three more Tommy Thompson to the line now on the season.
A 73% free throw shooting misses the front end of a one and one trying to work their way down the floor.
Southwest to Gavin, it looks like Katie Hunt's going to get called for the foul here.
And I was about to come out here is that she was trying to get the basketball away from Tony's markers.
Martin was trying to break the press down right middle.
Right, right.
And, you know, John, and take this the right way.
Oh, Milagros behalf, I think the girls are playing now not to lose the game instead of playing comfortable and relaxed, you're down about four points.
Five points now.
They're feeling the pressure a little bit here in the first half, John.
They've got to relax and go out and play consistent here.
Coming up, we had a part of the first half and also for the second, Kyrie Smart with two free throws.
It's a 2418 is four under a minute steps ball.
It's going to go back the other way to southwest the card Yeah the fifth back to start in down on this up little Grove team they've got to relax keep their poise and play solid Trying to do that defensively in the college steps as Tiny Smart was trying to break the press down the forwards that it turns into the eighth turnover for Southwest the cat here in the ballgame Anthony Walton talking defense on the inbounds double team in the quarter days of play involved in of that J.B. Hunt trying to figure a way to get into the paint looks like you took about four steps no fly block on the inside by tightest margin.
Southwest to cab coming back with it.
Wingate loses control of the basketball but they're going to call Steph some.
Bring it back the other way from Maya Crowder.
Yeah.
MARTIN Just so the athletic ability him a defensive end with a few blocks in the first half.
That's what she can do spearheading the fast break just not able to capitalize.
They're done going to the basket their number one crowd at the 30 to 30 seconds to go in the first half Southwest.
A cab up six, had a lot of bumping, going to four and 22.
Got a lot of bumping going on.
And we got the official from the far side.
Yeah.
Calls the whistle I think is going to be on win get they're trying to get on on Thompson playing too aggressive outside of her mindset that was an unnecessary foul their own characteristic not what was needed there going into halftime second foul on Wingate and toss and Thompson goes back to the free throw line first free throw up and good Cathy Walton telling her Southwest a cab plays.
You don't have to do that kind of stuff defensively.
Well, you know, a lot of times young players think that you have to fight.
Physicality comes into the fight.
You got to take the game and play the game, not get out there, make things happen.
And right at the end, she just got caught up in mostly in the play game two points, but, you know, drove 19 personal fouls called in the first half, both teams 23 seconds to go first Stanford coming back to press off the inbounds down for 2420.
There's a freshman coming out of court out of control.
She got saved.
There's a play looking for the cutter off the elbow.
Not going to happen it back around looking for the pass to the inside.
Probably did it to put the double team in the corner.
5 seconds for Milagros.
Going to have to do something in a hurry here.
Blocked by Daisy Klay out of bounds with 2/10 to go to her great block by Daisy Klay the salt studied the catch and shoot right now you can only tap the ball only with point two on the clock so be interesting to see what happens.
I don't think nothing's going to be successful.
So you didn't get your catch and shoot no basket there.
Southwest two cam escapes the first 16 minutes up 24 to 20, scoring in the Battle of Region six to determine who's going to be the five eight champ.
I'll turn it over to Raven and Kathy Wall.
Coach, your win in the turnover battle, You're doing pretty well on rebounds.
What are you telling your girls to make sure they can ensure a win in the second half?
We just got to stay focused, stay aggressive.
I mean, it's a physical game where you see each other and we just have to keep on playing, playing through it.
They the girls you were talking about, their inexperience and being young playing pretty well right now.
What what else do you need from them?
Well, there's times are you shows up.
Yeah.
We just got to tell them they're going to make mistakes and just keep playing.
Well, if they keep playing through, I think we'll be okay.
Well, good luck, coach.
Shareef.
Hey, thanks very much.
You know, it is a great weekend of high school basketball here on the great GPB as we bring you the GHC Boys and Girls Championship live for the Macon Coliseum right now, Southwest, the camp leading Miller Grove, 24 to 20.

I what we do is they run a program that's fully committed by the coaches, players, parents, community and, you know, just keeps coming.
And we're proud to just be here and honored, just to be here to represent the cap county school system one more time.
Well, 14 boys and girls school teams have won in the same year, just 14.
You guys did it last year.
What was the vibe at school like this year?
You go for a repeat?
Well, I would say be honest.
Starting a year out, you know, the expectations weren't as high because, know, we had a lot of seniors to graduate.
And last year I think we lost five stars on last year, got in a few new players and some of the younger guys stepped up.
And we're back here again.
And the excitement and the commitment kind of picked up midway and it's going to trickle down to the community.
And now we're back here again.
You don't rebuild, you reload.
That's great.
All right.
Time now to play Are You Smarter than Your students?
A question from our Today in Georgia History project.
And your question is, Brenda Lee was the most successful female performer of the 1960s with 55 Billboard hits.
She was the only female singer to do this.
Was it a B in both the country and rock and roll Hall of Fame?
B, Walk on the moon.
C Be a rodeo clown.
Or D, Crackers and whistle.
Well, Brenda Lee, I think from my history and listening her music, I would say and you're right, she was terrific both in the country and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Listen, good luck in the second half and we'll see you again for the boys.
Absolutely.
All right.

We're at halftime with the girls five, a state championship game between Miller Grove and Southwest, the cavalry.
Welcome now to the program.
The principal of Southwest Acab High School, Carolyn Williamson.
Carolyn, talk a little bit of the vibe at school this week as the girls get ready to try to win another state championship.
We were all very, very excited.
We were looking forward to this evening and we believe that we're going to be victorious.
Well, you know, you've had a lot of success there at Southwest to have high school talk about what's going on at your school these days.
Well, I think that even when I speak to the students, I think that the students that we can describe them, first of all, the student athletes, they are exceptional in the classroom and they know that it's been very important for them to excel academically.
And that helps in assist in on the feet on the court as well.
Absolutely.
You know, the girls have won a lot of state championships.
So we wish you good luck to that.
It's time now to play.
Are you smarter than your students?
A question from today in Georgia History program.
So your question is.
Starting the Home Depot on June 22nd, 1979, Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank lost their jobs at this home improvement store.
First Was it a handy dandy?
B, just wrenches C pails of nails or D bolts R us.
It was a penny and it turned out all right for those guys.
They got fired, then became billionaires and owners of aquariums in the south and football teams.
It turned out okay.
Yeah.
Hey, good luck in the second half.
Thanks for coming on with us.
All right.
Today in Georgia, history is a joint production of the Georgia Historical Society and GPB.

Now, let's check back in with Kat.
That's right.
Now it's time for the play of the game presented by the technical college system of Georgia.
You know, Georgia continues to grow its service sector economy and jobs in the hospitality industry are growing, too.
Thousands of positions for chefs, food and beverage managers and hotel and travel professionals are expected to open in the next few years.
Tourism and culinary careers are fantastic for anyone who loved working with people in a fast paced environment.
Dedication, the right training and a bold attitude are ingredients for success.
That's why the hospitality industry is our career.
Play the game.
Well, I tell you, how are things going over there?
And social media.
I see a lot of likes on Facebook.
A lot of like, you know, races going around, taking pictures of some of the crazy costumes.
So, you know what?
Go online, go on a Facebook like us and tell us which costume you like the most.
And they can also tweet.
I think that's right.
Have you are you tweeting at I'm not tweeting this yet.
I'm working on it.
Maybe after the championship's over, I'm not sure.
We're getting ready for the second half of this big five AA girls championship game.
We're back with the second half.
The final 16 minutes right after this.
Time out, live with making policy and live on GPB.
And like us on Facebook.
Welcome back to gb's broadcast of the G HSA Boys and Girls State Championship.
Time now for the second half for the girls five AFC Championship game.
Let's check in with raven Tirado.
Raven.
Hey, thanks, Mark.
Coach, that was kind of a rough first half.
You can't seem to gain the momentum the right rhythm.
What was your message to the girls?
To gain some redemption?
We have to let our defense dictate what we do on offense, and we got to pick up the defensive intensity.
That's what I told them back then.
And I we're going to come out.
We're okay.
Well, we're coming out the second half and do a better job playing defense.
Coach, good luck.
Thank you.
All right, guys, you heard it.
All right.
Let's see if Coach Breedlove is going to get her way.
And Sean, I guess when you look at the scope of this first half, it's turnovers and fouls when we get to the highlights.
Well, here's the thing.
A combined 28 turnovers and 19 fouls, not a solid first half of good basketball.
There were some tee shots being made, a lot of steals, a lot of deflections.
But in order for this game to improve, to get better, both teams have to protect the basketball, continue to hit outside shots like Martin.
But you have to stay solid and stay focused.
You just can't lose the composure.
MARTIN The only player in double figures for either squad finishing with ten for Southwest, The cab, Tashi Thompson and Clarissa Weaver led Miller's Road with six H, Anastasia Clay with the two.
Let's take a look at our first half stats brought to us by our friends at the Georgia Farm Bureau.
What sticks out here?
Again, we talked about the turnovers there, John.
Turnovers, turnovers, 28 turnovers there in the first half.
Both teams have to improve, slow down.
But as Coach Breedlove talked about it, getting better with your defense, protect the basket and get easy points there in transition.
Simplify the process.
Miller drove field goals eight of 20 to stop this the Cavs 721 the rebounding edge to Miller Grove, 21 to 13 stats provided by West Georgia Technical College, a unit at Technical College System of Georgia.
Thanks again to our friends at Georgia Farm Bureau.
So giving us a look at the halftime stats.
So then if you're Kathy Walton, is it more of the same except less turnovers maybe?
That's exactly right, John.
More of the same with the focus and the drive and the determination put down on their turnovers and let's see if we can actually get a good W here tonight.
Miller Grove Southwest at camp you look at that magic number 60.
Yeah that seems to be the magic number to get everything done.
Miller Grove You know, you're playing in the fifties, everything's fine.
On one side of it, the only team the first 60 that the Duke on the other side.
So let's see what happens here in the second half.
Will either team come close or will this be a game in the fifth shot off the back of the rim?
No good Southwest camp fighting for it off the rebound.
Nifty you don't fire in nice Alexander alternating possession keeps it going from left to right Yeah of course mine came out of the halftime and tried to attack Weaver, trying to pick up that extra foul, isolating her and Martin down low.
Martin just didn't finish.
Marissa Weaver's survival set April three fouls for Miller Grove.
Something to keep an eye on, having both picked up a quick fourth and a big collision there.
Looks like it's going to be a foul on Toshi Thompson.
It looks like Thompson got the worst of the collision, but she could call for the foul, don't you, Zach Wright?
But no, I'm starting now to be impressed, John, here by day's Alexander, the freshman guard here for Southwest.
The cap is doing a good job of controlling the game with their side of the bounce.
Hopefully she'll capitalize and pick it back up, trying to find a bounce pass inside.
Looks like you're coming back the other way.
Out of bounds.
Southwest tab, yet another turnover for Miller Grove.
Well, we started off with turnovers, turnovers and turnovers.
John.
That may be the primary focus here in the second half.
He can have the least amount of turnovers just like you are going to have a lot and can take advantage of the ones coming from the other way.
The 19 turnovers for Miller Grove and turnover, the 13th turnover for Southwest at their most of the time.
Sean, I know that you like to use the word turnover when it comes to a breakfast food but not from its 32 times mentioned.
Yeah.
Asked 17 minutes this morning I ask my army turn it over turn it over turn it over and think it was going to be a basketball game statement as well to pack on the inside.
Looks like Davion Wingate is going to get called for the foul.
So let's take another look at it on the inside.
Is Miller going to try to have a low pass?
It's a strong, solid foul there by Richardson on the dirt the back flip landing easily foul on Mario Walker's first run.
It's going take the heat for Southwest DeKalb and they're going to swap out They should play for Gavin Wingate.
Yeah, those who play powerfully.
The most important piece to that first half run that by Southwest to cap the herd size to hustle plays allows Southwest to cap to have four point lead to find it.
They're nearly a 23% free throw shooter coming into the game This is that one as we go one minute John here third quarter and out of bounds to Miller drove drove have to make shots two free throws you missed multiple opportunities turnovers you got to capitalize with the game gives them more grove drive on the inside without the basketball dished off This is everything but MG comes back with a blocked big block that time by Mike Crowder.
Yes he did a great job of contesting that long shot with a nice forceful swipe.
I believe that will not be entering into my patience.
But I think he's saying yes.
Miller Grove basketball coming off the elbow was knocked away by days of play pass to the edge and looks like they're going to call a foul before the ball got knocked out of bounds.
I know you talked about that play with this.
Look what's going on with both teams.
I think there's so much energy at the same time.
Both teams like to play with their defense score in transition.
This game now has become a halfcourt game and now there's so much in the paint where they're for some bad outside shots just like that.
So not a clean game.
With both teams, there's a lot of energy and excitement.
Foul on Alexander before this particular possession A lot of jousting going on in the paint.
It seems like it's almost three different ball games in the first quarter was called very tightly.
That second quarter, they kind of let things go a little bit.
Third quarter, they might be letting things go a little more.
Yeah, just, you know, let the players decide the championship game tonight.
John, you can't allow the officials to do it.
Unfortunately, the way the players are playing so much, swatting so many fouls, being actively deciding here on the court.
Unfortunately in the Grizzlies do have the officials you have to blow the whistle and back to the free throw line for Miller Grove misses the first again, you saw Dice Alexander getting some advice from Cathie Walton.
The second free throw by garden was too strong off the back of the rim southwest to Campbell to rebound, trying to get out of traffic with a turnover.
Let's see if anything comes of it rims out no good rebound southwest to cap thought four knocked out of bounds by Miller Throw a little stick with the lady Panthers You know John and I hate to say this right now I think both teams shooting to something may want to back up from talked about let's talk about just two athletes on the court.
There's so many good athletes that they're using the athletic ability matching up person to person to a foul as I seem to say, it was trying to bring it up the more.
Yeah, yeah, you see the quantum and because he loved his frustrated knowing that Durden didn't need to make that foul especially in the open court.
Move your feet.
Be patient on defense, don't create early mistakes.
And that was an unnecessary foul needed there by Darden Durden will sit Tyreke of Brown into the ballgame that was dirty his first foul 615 to go third quarter Southwest the Cavs stole the four point lead off the glass too hard rebound no good third chance maybe days of clay wanted it I'm going to call alternating possession it's going to go nowhere.
Yeah both teams is playing with so much emotion right now, John So much energy.
Not even able to knock down is the easy, simple point blank range layup.
So something as simple as trying too hard.
I don't think they're trying too hard, John.
I just think that this is so much emotion out here and just so much emotion out you that the only thing they can do is exert energies.
Well, you may be right.
Yes.
And that's what I mean.
It's because you're so wrapped up in what you're trying to do.
It's almost like you're trying too hard and forcing issues.
Basket is good now.
Gosh, he's smart, nice, athletic, loose offense with a nice left handed jump hook.
They're five feet outside the paint.
MARTIN Now, with 12 to southwest to cap 12 of their 26 rebound off to Miller Grove Miss.
In a tie up and works like they're going to call Tommy Thompson for the foul.
Yeah, not the kind of foul you want A.C. Thompson up the rest of the open court.
Here's Martin He's had a great drive.
Nice off with the left hand off the glass the left handers like to see left hander Oh my gosh.
But he was he's just a special player.
Being able to use both hands to be successful in the offensive, in the shades.
You're looking for a college three and hits it first open look it is 1 to 12 both teams ahead all night long as he stepped up knocked down the three 2920.
Coming up on 5 minutes to go here, third quarter, Milagros rushes up a shot, calls the Miss ball, goes out of bounds to Miller Rubio another Southwest to cap turnover their 17th in the ballgame.
Let's take a look at the two she's with three again she just steps in nice arc good rotation and switch looks like an Avery loves blue collar timeout to kind of think things through it's going to be a full the Yeah she's got to get control of her team John calmed down too much emotion you know they've never been in this type of situation where they have to play from behind and a hole is starting to get wider and wider and wider as it's a nine point lead here in the third quarter.
You think about Miller Grove's losses.
They started the year with the loss to Saint Francis, lost to Stevenson in a region game back just after Thanksgiving loss to Colombia, the triple-A champs by five close to Christmas timeout, then lost to Tucker in a regional game in the middle of January before losing the Southwest to Cavs.
Like they're averaging a loss a month out.
But once again, Southwest Acab the team that got to 60 in these games was that magic number.
Exactly.
And there's your Southwest Acab resumé on the quick side, three straight titles 0809 2010 And they made the finals and five of the last six seasons says a lot about what Cathy Walton's been able to do for the Panthers.
Well, you know, as we talked about again on the broadcast, it's very hard to beat a team four times in a row.
And so for us to have won that fourth meeting there in the region conference championship is really a hard earth to beat a team for four out of five time.
So now southwest of CAP has the advantage right now with that 89. lead here in the third quarter.
And they keep it clear, they hold it together.
And that allowed Milagros to pick up some type of run a momentum third quarter field goal numbers 12 over five from the floor here in the third in the first 3 minutes.
Southwest to cap hit two of their five shots.
And it's just the word that comes to mind is just tenacious.
Yeah, yeah.
Southwest to Campbell Watch every loose ball.
Watch every big ball to the first wolves on the floor.
Their contested shots.
They're going in and taking the ball off the rebounds.
They're the ones has been the aggressive team so far.
And you remember Shaquan Durden also had those four opportunities for free throws missed all four?
Yes, he did.
And that hurt.
Could have easily been a five point game.
So now coming out of the timeout, really groza inbounds and it's going to be Katie Hunt.
It's picked off and coming down the other way so the easy to his aerial deal it's all set for us to camp now in the defensive rhythm get into the passing lanes and getting steals J.D.
Hunt double teams right near midcourt dribbles out of traffic, clippers out of a really tough spot, pulls up to the jumper too hard when a guy comes up with the rebound and they're going to try it again.
Southwest to Campbell to seven, trying to see if Glasnow can do anything about it.
No, the Miss there in the paint falls out of bounds.
Heading the other way.
Yeah.
Look, Milagro tying not playing aggressive right now.
They're playing on their heels.
Southwest to cap being very aggressive, taking it to the heat with two points there for Mario Walker walking his first two points of the ballgame as well, trying to beat the pressure.
Tried to have a choke in 212 and they pull it back after the inbounds Tynes martin bringing it over the halfcourt.
Oh, that's a lot of trust in a young athlete.
But yesterday was shot by, got a whistle.
Let's see where the whistle is going to come from on the job.
So I've said that's your fourth days of clay was way out.
You had to work your way around playing.
It didn't quite work for her fourth foul and she's staying in with four until it looks like next dead ball situation.
The set is going to get swapped out for Walker dish jumper rims out.
No good days of clay tries to come down with the rebound.
Take what you do of play.
It is playing really, really good relentless relentless now offensive glass.
Even though she didn't step out of bounds, she's getting her hands on all miss baskets, all deflections, all steals.
I mean, Clay right now being the most important player in this game for Southwest, the cameras, the set, sitting with her for fouls, Clarissa Weaver with three for Miller Grove and not having either one of them in the lineup is really hurting And a great left right down shot good block coming down in transition Walker looking to pass inside and try to force something got a foul follow Miller go Yeah yes this can be tacky in transition no drove all star players not getting back flipping the wall defensively protecting the basket and Walker able to come up with a chance to get to hit the free throw line third foul on Tommy Thompson six points and three fouls Walker using the glass she called it.
In her mind, It's hard for us.
We called it 39% foul shooter on the year gets the first little assistance from the flex he gets the second one.
No problem, though.
Great.
Still this move rotation Southwest to Cavs leads out to 1333 20 under 4 minutes to go past the halfway point here in the third quarter in the making center flex in the make in coliseum here on GPP championship weekend of the 2013 GHC basketball championships.
Back RIM no good in transition Walker all alone catching it from behind Look out intentional foul ball wasting no time they call the intentional foul on Tennessee Thompson it's going to be her fourth oh and this could be a huge ball down the line exactly right side his this is the ball up the court there the Walker is wasting no time the time is right across the four on the jump.
Both teams have been trying one another.
So you want a foul like that?
They have to get control underneath the game, over the game.
So that's what we call the intention to file.
That was a good call there by the official they Breedlove you're saying Thompson was going for the ball obviously you see that she doesn't agree.
The first free throw was missed by Walker.
Second was made and with that free throw, we're going to take a break.
Key moment with the intentional foul called Southwest to Cavs lead is now 3420 big defensive presence on one end coming back with the big jumpers and using the glass on the other 335 for the third Southwest.
The Cavs rolling here on GPB.
Welcome back.
Making Coliseum making Cineplex 335 for the third Southwest, a cab up 34 to 20.
And we know that these two teams are playing for the championship.
So let's look at the road to the championships here.
I'm Nick and brought to us by our friends at George's emcees Lighting the way and leading the way wins over Sprayberry by three, beating Billerica by 31, Stephenson by six and a nail biter against Forest Park 4341 to get to the game tonight against Miller Grove.
And on the flip side, Miller Grove, you're defending champs trying to get themselves out of a 14 point hole beating pope by 18.
ALTOONA The lady bucks by 13 beating Tucker the region rival there by ten and then stifling Effingham County 4923.
Effingham County didn't score what in the last 15 minutes of that game.
Yeah yeah and see if the ham count and not accustomed to that type of region play basketball there by Miller Grove just you know using their strength and ability but now be matched It was selfless to cap selfless at camp John it's time to learn after five times now playing them have learned the good, the bad, the ugly in how to attack Miller Grove.
And they're using that now to their advantage.
Tonight, Miller Grove as Mr. West, 30 shots from the floor.
They're also 11 here in the third, which on the other side is being consistent.
There has not been an open look there for Miller Grove specialist at camp is doing a great job is contesting shots and rebounding shot blocked there by Miller Grove southwest to camp now three 3837 and a half percent here in the third dribbling down the floor almost the steps call could have been made there shot missed no good trying it.
Finally a bucket for Miller Grove.
JD Hunt.
Yeah, Yeah.
Baby Hunt did a great job of just finishing down the missed basket, steal off the inbounds and a foul on the dive trying to save it back for Southwest to cap green Here's how they finally got the deuce on the board here in the third Yeah the special off the miss basket there by Durden JD Hunt trying to put this team on her back J.B. Hunt now with six getting her first bucket here in the third quarter, 315 to go here in the third Southwestern cap, the third on Katie Hunt for Miller Grove.
And it looks like there's a discussion by, the officials as to the wear on the how to reintroduce.
There's a numbers discussion going on in there.
And here we go with the explanation and see what happens here.
23 with the players.
Those are Martin three times.
Okay.
So they're calling Mark for the foul instead of punt.
That'll be her first.
So Hunt stays at 12 and that's no lie.
29 total fouls.
We had 19 at the half.
We've had ten here in the third quarter.
That job was it.
We still get over close to 3 minutes in the third quarter, a little bit over that.
So a lot of basketball to be played.
This would be a tough game at Memorial Stadium.
Region six during football season.
Yes, you would got a contact, a lot of contact ball out of bounds southwest to Campbell get to reintroduce with 310 to go here in the third no help on the inbound dangerous place to put it calling a timeout it looks like they gave it to Tony Smart and so a smart idea as she was falling out of bounds to call the timeout.
Looks like they gave it to her, but they did And Cathy Wallace is going to call a throw.
Yeah.

There's a lot of ways to stay active in the process to make sure that we can continue to bring these kinds of programs to you every year.
And that's definitely of those ways.
309 for the third Southwest cab clamping down on Miller Grove here in the third quarter.
The advantages 12 Southwest to cab Buffalo long pass backwards intercepted by Miller Grove and it looks like there's another foul call on Maya Crowder this time right now the game is not being as smooth as we were accustomed to the in the second quarter both teams trying to show their skills defensively reaching and hacking in a lot of fouls.
The officials are looking at frustrated with the play you can tell.
So it definitely stops in this thing so we can finish out the evening with good solid play.
Gavin Wingate in area Walker out four sophisticated Miller Grove's one for 13 from the floor in this quarter alone after being eight for 22 in the first half shot up no good rebound picked up knocked out of bounds by Imani Richardson but it's going to stay with Southwest Yeah we're told he saw something and this is something that Miller Grove is doing after missed shots they don't accept the rebound, especially underneath the basket, which is making it very hard for self care.
And within the 10 seconds frame is used to in necessary timeouts but definitely didn't need that.
Take a look at the rematch last year.
4639 was the final.
You saw Southwest, the Cavs defense turn into offense and Southwest.
The Cavs, after being down early, make their way back into the ballgame.
But once again, Miller Grove asserting themselves on their way to get that first championship, working it from the inside and the outside.
Ronnie Breedlove getting that first championship right there.
4639.
Your final score.
And the Wolverines, the Lady Wolverines get to join Charm White when it comes to being referred to as state champs last year at the Arena Gwinnett Center.
Yeah course love just trying to keep the girls under control, keep their composure, keep the fight going with inside them.
But they have to be smart in these 3 minutes in the third quarter.
And apparently also Coach Breedlove got a warning from the officials.
So I have to keep an eye on that as well.
Third quarter field goal numbers, MG one of 14 samples to cab three for eight.
Katie Hunt trying to work the perimeter ball knocked away.
Looks like they're going to call a kick the dice.
Alexander would have had the floor to herself if she had to check the bills.
Take a look.
Trying to do the exchange.
And we don't know if that was a kick ball.
That was just good basketball.
Great defense there by the freshman.
Now, when it comes to a kick is it has to be intent or does it just the motion of the ball hitting the foot count?
It depends on which part of the foot it hits.
And right then I thought the ball actually hit the top part of the lower part of the knee and get it down the court.
The vicious all differently and called the kick ball.
All right.
Let's take a look.
All right.
Let's describe this for me and figure out this exchange and I don't think she actually advanced it down the court.
So sometimes depends on the fish.
It depends on the eye.
They could call that a kick ball or they could just call this a loose ball and an advanced on the court.
Let the play just resume.
Looks like a kick saved for the kick ball Southwest to cap with the basketball trying to drive on the paint to short rebound picked up by Matthew Dozier.
And looks like MG is going to try to come out with it coming up close to 210 to go so the third double team in the corner play ball hits the turkey Delsea trying to back away and no good is that trapping beneath the basket and wingate over shift one dirty hit the tire.
Yeah so meet the basket is a hard place to actually catch the ball.
Whether it's a make shot, a missed shot or a turnover, there's a trap myself with the gap.
Loose ball dozier And there's a trap again.
There's a truck underneath the basket.
Issues on the inbound, the five second foul.
We're coming back the other way with the 3/20 turnover.
So southwest to Cameron, just a game time, just jam played in spurts No one again we're back to no rhythm so the teams now just in some type of disarray here on the court, not having to even get smooth basketball being played.
Katie Hunt picking up the inbound very for so we will have to keep an eye on her and her foul situation off the glass.
No good Weaver with the eighth with the rebound count it and the foul and that's the presence that everybody's looking for on the inside the foul trouble skeptical set out of it Weaver in the ballgame finally get something done there Yeah just great opportunity there just get the ball rebound in that piece great finish here and one Maya Crowder picking up her third foul Marissa Weaver completes a three point play We're under double digits it's a 9.3 3425 down court setting up the offense turnaround jumper is going to be short is short rebound picked up by Miller throw.
Coming up on 100 seconds in a big battle for the fire Crowder you think it was broken Saquon jersey It was it was a crowd of just a little too strong down there for Durbin and you know what he does, Coach?
Great Love's going to take another three to talk about it because she's gotten it from 14 down to 901 seconds to go here in the third.
And so now she's kind of getting things pieced together, kind of working things down the line, Right.
Taking it a possession.
That time you.
Get something here.
It's down to seven that way.
You trying to just narrow the game down a little bit by getting it as close as you can by the fourth quarter?
Well, what's happening, John, you see MG now starting this fight with the same strength as that self with CAP has had pretty much the entire game now starting to match the intensity.
Something we didn't think of when he talked about tonight.
Miller Grove now matching up with Southwest.
The Cavs as a result will go now to that 14 point lead.
It's a nine game here with the bucket and 41 to go third quarter turnover numbers Miller Grove with seven Southwest to cab with five overall numbers Southwest a cab with 20.
Miller drove with 24 turnovers in this game, 44 turnovers for both teams.
We're not even through the third quarter yet.
Took some pressure on the inbound by Southwest to cap Weaver with it in the backcourt needs some help to bring it through Saquon Burton brings it across the halfcourt looking inside back door you go see gets the team a great pass through up top.
We've been able to see it with a weak shoulder, sort of high, low the finish.
We're down to seven now from Miller Grove Southwest, a cab leading 3427.
Coming up on a minute, 15 for the third right in front of us.
Looks like Katie Hunt got called for the foul as Tiny Smart was trying to bring it up over Miller Grove on a70 run.
There's a high low pass a pass, go to the high post and nice pass on the top download and you go to third from 80 this time downfield with the bucket.
Finding smart and coming to the line had ten at the half only to here in the third quarter misses the front end of the one and one.
Yeah.
Hunt had a chance to actually capitalize on something special and the jump out missed defensively wrong jumper no good thoughtful for once again alternating possession southwest of Kanter offices John there's so much activity out here.
If you're inefficient you just can't call everything.
You have to call the obvious.
So you know, they let the players play a little bit.
Boy, man, look, it's a cell scale to put those in your home.
But this is a very, very athletic game played between two competitive teams.
Imani Richardson back then for Miller Grove coming up the fourth for Southwest to cap Dyson Alexander driving into the pass misses the layup knocked out of bounds Hey that was a nice move nice Alexander job coast to coast get a chance finish but that was a nice move on her behalf Get to the rim just take a look at her going crazy She's just a fresh look at how she gets up there, uses her body just not able to capitalize.
She's got a bright future.
Keep working hard.
Good things are going to happen to her down the road.
51.3 and counting here in the third quarter, Miller drove down by as many as 14, cut that in half to seven, pass inside, knocked out, trying again with a runner.
No good rebound, no good partially deflected third time deflected out fourth time up and in.
And are they going to give it to Weaver with the continuation and they are Yes, they did, John.
Yes they did.
So now the momentum now change and shifting over to Miller Grove.
Good.
BLOCK Let's go to court with the ball.
You just can't block it.
You're not to back to the offense Weaver was able to finish with two off the glass.
Can't she complete the three point play 55% free throw shooter coming in there you see we were signed with you and Cassel averaging 11 points a game 50% shooting from the floor this season.
If we don't watch this, there's going to be pressure here after this free throw.
Make her miss watch the press about Miller.
Great.
There it is.
They start the press on the ball.
It comes a trap.
The defense throws now move it a step quicker than they did on the first part of the game.
Now, in the ten oh run, because of their defense and their energy, 30.6 to go for the third, Miller Grove was down 14, now down four, spinning out.
Travis Alexander trying to work the way to the bucket.
Looks like she just spun out and blew a tire.
Well, that's what they did.
Look, they're very tough from this angle.
Unless she got tripped, official being called that.
Those were the calls that were happening during the first part of the game.
Yeah, she did trip over Carissa Brown's on foot.
No call by the official turnover going now towards go faster in the no call 20 seconds to go here for the third quarter guard trying to cut the advantage from 14 down to maybe two spot on the floor Southwest the champ comes out with it down to 10 seconds drives too hard Martin Too hard coming back the other way.
It's Imani Richardson.
Richardson out of control.
They got a whistle.
We'll see what we're going to call the foul here.
Is it going to be on Alexander?
It's going to be Alexander's fourth.
And so this will be a situation that Southwest against an after transition basketball that's just a freshman, not making a smart decision defensively protect the basket.
They don't need a foul They're just 12.7 on the glass This here's Alexander the five seven freshman line Richardson to the line gets the first down We're down to a three point game here with 2.7 to go in the third quarter.
Miller Grove just now showing a little sense of toughness.
One for two 33% in the line with 18 free throw attempts coming into this game for the season for Richardson makes one of two Miller throw at one point was down 14 They've scored 11 in a row 24 minutes down 8 minutes ago to determine the girls class five a champion Will Miller Grove rookie are supposed to camp get another one answers coming up.
Welcome back.
Making coliseum making center.
Blake started the last 8 minutes to determine the girls class five champion raven Toronto over on the sidelines.
Raven, what's the word?
Yeah, john I'm over here on the southwest vocab bench.
It's a very calm, collective group.
They're going over plays.
They're not panicking.
They're focusing.
They're just doing what they need to do out on the court to try to come out with a win.
Thank you very much, Raven.
Third quarter numbers from the field southwest at Camp three of 13.
They missed their last Miller Grove four for 21 in the quarter.
They missed their first 11 finished the quarter for four.
10/3 quarter was a case of runs for both sides Southwest.
Two candidates in a run.
Miller Grove responded with an 11 oh run but they're still on right now.
Yeah, John, here's a stat that I'm really focused on now.
Miller Grove's six of 14 from the Free throw line.
Southwest was had 13 of 19 from the free throw line.
It's going to come down to who can make those shots they're at 15 feet.
Lin started the final 8 minutes we'll Miller Grove repeat his chant for Southwest the cab and Kathy Gordon add another one to their mantle.
Inbounding Katie Hunt give and go with Clarissa Weaver will cycle the offense 5 seconds in Toshi Thompson up top Hunt looking to drive pulls up off the window rims out no good you field is fighting for good Patty Hunt but Hunt got the rebound in the back seat.
Hunt was so determined to get that make that play, if not make the shot, get the offensive rebound.
And then she actually came up with the two points.
That was a great job.
A lot of effort there.
On Hunt's behalf.
Tiny, smart and trying inbound a lot of difficulty and as you say, coming off of the basket Mills looking to press a lot of wide open space here.
Baseline jumper looks like it was hard and it was too much off the back of the rim.
Fought four out of bounds and it's going to stay with Southwest to cap itself with the cap in this league John took the fake now they're starting to take the fight now from Miller Grove because Miller Grove is now using all their punches to actually try to finish out the game long loop over the top dangerous pass, but it ends up coming in for Southwest to cap one of the two's aerial counter off to the great drive to the basket, knowing that the trees down low weren't going to fouler.
Great finish there on Southwest to catch Walker now with seven four southwest to cap lead 3633 one minute into the fourth quarter and that ended a 1301 for Miller Grove Toshi Thompson way out getting instructions from Coach Breedlove and it looks like Renee Breedlove is going to call a throw.
She was not happy with what she was seeing out there on the floor, John, to see the two possessions before they're done.
They tried to loop around and get a baseline drive.
And defensively, they cannot play well.
Matador defense, not allowing the offense to come through without any type of contest.
On the layups only shots.
Coach Breedlove now is going to coast to team wise for interesting set, possibly a hollow action to try to get an easy path to the basket and then sit there first defense Two timeouts left for Milagros here in the game southwest to cabin and Kathy Walton have three that's an interesting question you see how active the sophisticated cheerleaders right also had a plan in order for a band to present their demands on a banner Yeah to turn DirecTV abandoned football.
Is that right?
John, I got something for you.
Oh, my name is Sean.
I'm here with John.
We all make it here in Macon, Georgia, to see who wants to be number one.
You have lots of basketball, other programs to see.
So go to Facebook and like TPP.
How about that?
That's your band.
John?
Yeah, we talk about some of the great poets of all time.
Edgar Allan Poe Oh, wow.
William Shakespeare Exactly.
Sean Golden is not one of those.
Oh, I'm not L.L.
Cool J. L.L.
Cool.
L l l Jewel l l Junebug.
Oh, that's an old school, love.
It's their bucket.
Big bucket.
Toshi Thompson to get back on the board for Miller Grove.
Miller Grove coming back with its JD Hunt.
JD Hunt brings out what the bucket fight for underneath to the southwest to catch up.
And now getting out of the trap.
What could happen now?
Can Martin make a great play?
Toshi Thompson knocks it out of bounds.
We'll see what tied the game up.
That's a clean college three right there.
Yes, It was nice to see bad broken down defense.
So everything is back to where it was when it started.
Exactly.
Running 5 minutes and 38 seconds of resolve.
Absolutely nothing.
We're tied at 36 and bound for Southwest to cap tiny, smart and turn around off the glass.
No good, Nancy.
You know, she's got the rebound and she was tied up by Maya Crowder, Southwest cab to get possession.
Yeah.
Here's a great chance for us to really see what can happen with an experienced by Milagros versus an unexperienced squad by Southwest at Camp Southwest it can look like they can maintain their composure.
34 I'm really impressed with the free love this time mobile.
Get her seniors together and they fought back from a 14 point deficit.
Third tied the game now at 36 foul on nephew you go here and it's going to be her first derby and Wingate to blame for southwest to cap those three throws up a little good stuff inside great shot shot Thompson The Wingate pedigree.
Very familiar.
David Wingate, Georgetown.
So Gavin has had basketball exposure for a long time.
Second leading scorer for Southwest Atlanta, averaging ten points a game, 58% from the line coming into the game, the soft maestro, she stepped up to a grown up stepping up to the line, knocking down two free throws 3836 Southwest at Cavs, the high looping pass gets it into the offensive zone as your free throw numbers.
Look at the disparity 15 of 21 for Southwest the cab in the game ten point passing bring it down Nice spin move but blocked out of bounds It's going to stay with southwest it had aerial warfare with some good news there John this is what we call the streak.
$1,000,000 move, but a five down finish.
Great block Good help from the defense.
Again, Southwest attempt to capitalize on the film defensive mistakes there by Murray drove Boston with the two wins it gets say that amount so here's your inbounds really quick let's look at this quick turn spin move with the right hand.
Yeah you got to be ready You got to play before the ball is even handed to the official.
So to your teammate, because you've got to be in defensive position or have a presence that caught fire.
Crowder with the deuce Southwest to cap now up four as we approach five and a half to go regulation shot too hard Crowder with the rebound on the inside he's going to get Davion Wingate will bring it up the floor Yeah dip you're not the shots that you want if you coach Breedlove because they've taken a few contested shots which have not been something good to help out the team.
Wingate drives into the paint, gets it blocked by Forrest Weaver coming back down.
It's Miller GROSS and on the floor, a three players scrum.
They're going to call all that possession and it's going to stay with Miller Road.
You know, both teams are trying to leave it out on the court.
A lot of heart, a lot of hustle.
And just take a look at the scrum on the floor and the end result.
Yeah, just both players going down, all three players going down, two to the count all times.
Keep your head on that hard view of the hardwood, then give time so quickly.
Give credit to Tasha Thompson.
I feel tough getting up a piece about the flow of Sanders.
She's involved.
The Southwest Japan 5 minutes to go regulation southwest at camp up 4036 three pointer This is everything that's going to go back the other way.
Miller Grove saying that the ball was tipped.
Officials didn't see it that way.
So tiny Smart is going to inbound looking for some of the inbound.
A two gets to power but is probably gonna get pinned in the corner.
Get two Wingate.
Wingate crosses over half court three on two if she's got it down the paint with the time that ran very confidently throughout the fast break.
That was really good.
Her break to the press attack on the rim dame was tied at 36.
It's now 4236.
South was the canvas for the last six points block in the paint off the attempted to pass Durden throws it up against the glass I'm going to fall steps and go the other way.
You see Southwest the cab doing a great job with the defense.
Impressive by Miller Grove.
Play it uncharacteristically.
Here we go attacking the rim out of the fast break.
Durden Let Wingate go by and Dirk has got to do a better job defensively.
She's playing out of control emotionally.
Play with your game, move your feet, get the ball off, stop the penetration because you are the best part of the press is geared towards 51 turnovers in the game.
Miller Grove has 29 of them.
30 points.
Southwest Cab is going to call a full time out.
After all, he's going to talk about a six point lead with 425 to go.
So let's take a look at what happened the last time Southwest a cab won a championship.
Miss Georgia basketball.
It was a busy night for Taylor Lewis.
You see her get a lot of action.
You saw her make the first bucket, walk it down the floor and you're going to see her pull up for three right here.
When you get one, two and three baskets, you end up reading Northwest.
WHITFIELD And Emily True had a great run.
The Lady Bruins making their way through 6545.
Your final score.
Kayla Lewis had a big night for Cathy Walton winning in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
That was the third in a row.
And she's trying for a fourth title here with Southwest.
Yeah.
She's now 4 minutes and 25 seconds away from doing that with a six point lead they made.
They made the finals in five of the last six seasons with a rematch tonight, being a rematch from last year's championship game before Brook.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, the we talked about it in the beginning.
Just to remind everyone at home, this is the match up this season with both of these teams.
No group now has a 3 to 1 edge this season with games.
The last time they met was in the conference tournament itself was dead, came back to the W in the Southwest.
The Cavs the only one in this group to score 60 and get the win.
Your guys played it in the fifties the entire time and run into the paint Nice pinpoint passing off the glass up and in southwest to Cam Crowder for two Yeah that's a great pass there by sweet to Brown receiving the pass up top from the hunt dribbling Nice bounce pass Jordan thought about it look she's circling back into the paint pass high off the glass with the shot No good And it looks like the frustration foul might be called on Serena Brown this time with John.
You exactly right.
Does he has his mind up top with the ball skills With the ball at the top of the ball.
Pass it to Brown mount it over time.
Fire Crowder for the fourth quarter field goal numbers going up 29 two of seven Southwest to cap 43% 3 to 7 It's almost like scoring is being done in blocks Well it's tough because it's so much foul.
You may have 10 to 28 seconds of good basketball, but then the foul comes in.
So He's had to face and the tempo of the game.
Durden off the glass short rebound picked up on the inside Tony's Martin whistles We'll see what happens here alternate possession and we're headed back the other way with he has come from the free throw side They're now free throws free throws free throws coming down the court.
His daughter having a chance to finish with it to the short handed against Graham Martin.
There you can have the ability to get the rebound on the back down the other way shot was blocked out of bounds when you tried to gauge Alexander coming into the ballgame by saying to changing the set for Cathy Wall in the 340 to go regulation southwest a combined eight point lead travelers to CAM had a ten point run at one point Miller Grove had a 13 point run at one point.
Now Southwest a cab with an 8.1 now after the game is tied at 36 334 to go, it was on the floor.
Miller Grove is going to call a time out.
So there won't be any kind of a foul call or is going to call a 30.
There's your 51 turnovers right there.
Miller Grove with 29 of them, Miller Grove with now only one timeout remaining with the last 334 on the clock Southwest, the cab has to break down those timeouts going to be very important here down the stretch for 3 minutes and 34 seconds to go.
Both teams want to sit through the basketball.
They're going to be a lot of dead ball situations.
You're going to have to heave the pass they can't get called for the five second five second count.

This is a teach Shawn Golden in his poet writing book.
Next week, Miller Grove will retain possession with 321 to go regulation.
So don't get a lot of basketball left in this 21 seconds.
Only an eight point game.
Still a lot of basketball to be played off the glass too hard coming back out with it Southwest to cap nice Alexander double team double teamed again is Wingate Crowder Tony's Martin Allman got a bounce back for Russell Weaver It's going to stay with Southwest again to go with in the last 2 minutes of this game you could have over 30 dead ball situations if 13 to out of timeouts these deep ball situation to get there important possibly costly turnovers here could happen Wingate gathering the end zone guarded by you see it by the end of the paint high arc and shot off the glass and you have Richardson going in so on her ability to create finish it hang up the glass one Wingate now with six 250 to go regulation southwest of Campbell a ten over run off the glass no good spot for second on the floor once again double no good.
And it looks like Crowder might be called for the foul.
That's Tommy Thompson trying to put up the shot here.
Let's drive to the basket.
There's a spot on the floor coming up with it.
There's Crowder trying to defend the shot there for Southwest.
You can say this to you haven't talked about all afternoon alone John, as much as we've talked about here in the beginning, Tommy Thompson leading the team in scoring at 13.9 points a game.
She's got to do a better job of staying involved, getting involved in the offense because they're going to need her scoring here down the stretch.
There's a numbers on Tommy Thompson the five eight senior Kimani Richardson is in as nephew Duffy is out.
She's made the two free throws to break up the ten oh run for Southwest Cavs Willow Grove now down eight 4638 and that run went for 3 minutes and 47 seconds.
The time to say something right now.
Watch Martin You have the baseline to run.
She has not run the baseline yet after made baskets she's trying to pass it from the spot.
And that's a tough place to pass the ball each time she's done it.
There's been a turnover, two turnovers in a row.
Richardson had it lost, it fell on the floor and, it looks like.
Which way is the foul going to go?
Foul on Miller Grove as Crowder was trying to go for, the basketball coach wanted to bring this team over this morning.
Do you have the flexibility to run the court, run the baseline, which she's not doing?
She's standing still.
There's about a underneath after the inbound turnover.
Good fight, girls.
Great fight.
That's the kind of fight you want to see, especially here in a championship setting.
And you see what Crowder was upset about.
It's because it's her fifth foul.
So Maya Crowder is done for the day.
Five points fouling out at the 218 mark with Southwest to carb up six Toshi Thompson to the free throw line wants more free first free throws up and in great stroke she's got to step up to the plate 2 minutes 18 seconds to go in the game John she's got to be the one who puts her team on the back top.
Some Thompson Now with 12 misses, the second free throw rebounds you play the lead is five four southwest to cap break here early press wide to the bucket the stars on the shades it doesn't seem they should play off the glass and she was the one to get the ball get the first half.
Now trying to finish out the game with play finish it with two, trying to come back to the other way.
Wraparound pass doesn't work southwest of Campbell numbers Wingate with the drive off the glass no good rebound thought for underneath Durden is fighting for it over three Miller throw all alternating possession sticks with the lady Wolverines the most competitive spirit out here on the court tonight The team both teams is playing hard and aggressive now, starting to play within a solid sense of urgency here with a minute and 51 to go southwest.
A cab pressing Katie Hunt, driving up the floor and goes out of bounds, but can't believe it because it's going back to Southwest to cap a turnover that they could not afford.
Well, 102 seconds to go regulation wide open off the inbounds hangs.
Martin.
No one guarding her for the touchdown pass.
Easy to see time That may have been the nail in coffin right there to Southwest.
It can't get behind the defensive.
Milagros only has one timeout left.
They can't use it now.
Weaver to control two up drops and southwest to jab It's going to do Miller for this favor Yes they are tight.
Yes they are.
I don't understand that because the clock was in your favor.
The ten second rule from the official had started there in the baseline because that was some type of a combination of connected with the ball hit by Miller Grove with as many problems as Southwest a cab has had on the inbounds here in the fourth quarter.
Kathy Walton probably wants to talk it through and talk about it, right, Because Miller Grove had put three players in the past on the baseline, right.
Guarding to drink to see if there was some kind of a numbers game.
Well, John, I talked about this about a few minutes ago.
Martin is stationary on the baseline.
She has the flexibility after May basket to go move the base back to run on the baseline She hasn't done that the last four times.
As a result there has been a turnover now mostly their coaches in the huddle, coach Walt is telling her Marge you can run the baseline.
You can't move the space here because we need to pick up the person to take advantage of what the rules allow you to do.
The baseline.
And for those who don't know you do it after a timeout situation Or is it a stationary thing?
No, no, it's still Steve right now she's stationary.
She could have been a dead ball.
But just the offense and the defense there.
Miller Grove just playing into frustration because of the turnover.
And there was that last basket with the touchdown pass that got us to this point.
So there's a saying, look, you have the baseline run, kick foul.
Martin with a double double after that particular basket that she scored 14 points, 15 rebounds leading Southwest to Gap.
She's the only player in double figures for Southwest, a gap with 14.
The Shazier has eight, Wingate has six, Walker has seven, Crowder fouled out with five, Weaver leading, Miller Grove with 14, Tasha Thompson with 12 and Hunt has ten basically at the line free throw short seven point game she's got at make one of these get it up to eight the right now for Miller Grove you have to secure the rebound zone you don't need a three you just need a basket to cut it to the lead 34% three point shooter coming into the game makes the second puts it to an eight point advantage with 86 seconds.
Oh tough man pressure dirty coming up the floor by Wingate.
We're going to call the foul needs to now the youth and inexperience has come into play with Southwest the cap.
He didn't need to foul Durden there in the full court because he's a little bit out of control to stay in front of her and then shoot the rough, the shot that pass.
You want Southwest to camp and then you have a chance to secure the rebound and you put it on the free throw line.
Now she can score with the clock being stopped, but she's got to make the free throw first and no good second free throw dirty oh for six from the line gets her own rebound and another whistle looks like another foul on Southwest again.
Yeah Southwest Cam has two of those rebounds.
It's pass off the free throw line.
Gordon has a chance to come up and hit two more free throws and we'll see what happens.
That's the fifth foul on this.
Alexander So she will foul out with 120 to go finishing the day with four points.
Yeah she's been a great asset to that team today coming in off the bench Alexander just been a solid freshman guard you know handling the basketball free throw up and in free throw good by Tashi Thompson makes it 5140 for each team with one timeout remaining both teams double bonus second free throw up nothing but that six point game in 80 seconds.
Then the baseline run the baseline run the baseline she has it is up.
Oh that's a steal turnover Durden knocked out of bounds and it's going to go which way it's going to go towards Milagros Lopez We'll go with the spot throw in underneath John Durden what's the throw in going high over the top Cutter pass head fakes looking inside the ball knocked out of bounds and Clarissa Weaver was looking for a foul.
Didn't get it.
We're to 71 seconds southwest a cab holding on to a six point lead move pass inside Weaver blocked shot off the hook and on the floor.
It looks like another foul.
We're going down to the other end to shoot, too.
We talked about Martin in the beginning.
John Athletic, this young girl is that was a great block off the inbounds tonight allowed Milagros easy basket, great block fantastic block.
Now we've to get the easy two points out of bounds foul on Imani Richardson her first as they were diving for the ball on the floor And there's your double double from Tony Smart Yeah that's what 14 and 15 and John just a sophomore She's got a bright future she's going to continue to keep working hard to look like she may have a chance to lead her team to the state championship first free throw up and in by Wingate.
So to make these two points we talked about Mark.
So so much.
She comes from a background with her father playing at Auburn University.
You go Charles Barkley.
So we got a lot of former basketball players, kids here on the court when Davis was the second saved in the corner huge for Southwest the crowd another foul by Miller throw back to the blind side to build on the lead with 61 seconds to go something Miller Grove could not afford Virginia exactly right that this is what I saw right here in the end zone with a minute and one to go.
There's the fouls and then their frustration fouls and the frustration fouls.
The more you have to be aware of and the officials have to get control of the game here in the late minutes.
Here's the book on The Chaser Junior Guard.
First free throw up and this is the defense saves are averaging a little over five points a game 62% from the line so far coming into this game, looking for her ninth point of the day and that's it for Dame coming up on 60 seconds to go, Regulation eight points.
Miller has got to do something quick.
Durden in the corner to let Durden play.
Let Durden play Miss the runner inside Weaver looking for the putback danger.
Klay defending no good does that rebounder great hide open all the way down area locked easy to get started with martial three deep outlet square and just they won't be able to finish with the easy two points and we're going to call Wingate for defending.
Let's take a look at that last two we had a play of the game again for the better part of a great outlet deeply to Walker.
Nice left hand finish.
That's the fifth foul on Wingate.
So she's going to go.
She'll finish up with seven points and turn it over to Allen.
Kelly will check in replacing Wingate.
Wingate, only a 10th grader, so she'll be back for two more years under Kathy will.
Be first free, throw up and end.
Now it's back to a nine point game in 34.6 JD Hunt's second free throw up by an end.
5547.
And here comes that pressure again.
Intercepted off the glass crowd.
The foul is not over to the fat lady Saint John and that was a great steal off the inbounds but again Martin understands at the basket she's not at the baseline She gets in one spot and that's when she's passing for John.
And that's actually quite a disadvantage.
They're not needed for southwest half days of play or third foul.
It's almost like Reggie Miller scoring salvation.
Move, Just move.
She has a chance to run the baseline and they almost got it again.
It's hard, but that's what you've got to watch.
It's a five point game with 30 points and it goes on 30 seconds.
Miller Grove has a chance to cut into this lead and they're given Miller Grove the ball Southwest to cap touched it last 32.2 Miller Grove pinned in the corner Durden trying to figure something out launches a three way short ball knocked out of bounds going to Southwestern campus.
It feels pretty lucky some folks bet right there dirty.
That's not the way you want to handle the ball.
Get it to one of your better players.
And that's exactly one young person.
You don't want to have to give it to.
Weaver.
We will make the play.
Now.
This is a spot.
This is a spot where she cannot run the baseline right now.
And there's a foul there on the inbounds foul looks like maybe Katie Hunt And that's Katie Hudspeth foul.
Katie Hunt will foul out with 1523 seconds to go.
Regulation the 35 point game time with 23 seconds to go.
We have Martinez for the free throw line he sets the two shots and Miller Grove has had their chances in the last minute.
Yes, they have, John.
And Martin does not make it.
That first one is still a two possession.
And there's the reaction right there realizing that it's right there for you.
We got to take it.
And she won't be able to stay in the ballgame to do it.
20 seconds, dirty, all alone.
We'll see if she gets the two this time off the glass up.
And in 16.41 possession game, what could happen?
What could happen was there's a five second count going.
There's no basket can count going inbounds, 8.4 down to seven.
They didn't call a foul southwest, a command and finally a foul called with 2.2.
See John what happens is there's some frustration there from three love.
And I do understand that the ball just bounced off for about three or 4 seconds in 4 to 5 seconds count going over the official.
That didn't happen.
The ball comes in, John Avery going to replay one two.
That's not what I'm talking about game.
But there was a stop right there the possible foul deficit.
They call it Escape the trap.
But before the inbounds was made, the ball was just bounces.
His cell phone the piece that you right and you can't give credit there to the offense the clocks in the stock boy should be some recent seconds on the clock on the clock first free throw no good for tiny smart and Cathie Walton up three with 2.2 each team with a timeout to go.
The second free throw is huge.
Let's see if coach Breedlove burns her last time out.
Made it.
That's a four point game.
That's it.
They're going to call the timeout and use their last time as a woman.
That's a tough possession game and Billy Grove just scored.
That was a great time.
Once he made the basketball the timeout and said the defense even though was he last one that's the one you needed to control the game clock Southwest to cap up 5652.
Okay now let's take a look after the last basket.
Now watch the basket.
DURDEN You got one timeout lift.
All right.
How about right now?
Now you've got two, maybe 12 seconds on the clock.
Here's what you're talking about.
Two, three, four, five, six and 718 8 seconds off the clock.
And that's game management.
I got know Coach Breedlove has to see that she should have called a timeout when she saw the clock running down in the position to control the game of Ashley has to be called the dead ball and forcing them to pick up the ball four point lead Southwest to cap 2.2 to go Regulation 25 needs to be to San Francisco and see it.
It's in high school.
John, here's the thing.
The clock does not stop, but as a head coach, you got to understand, don't get caught up in the emotion for the game, Coach.
The game.
You got one timeout to go stop the clock.
They're done when they time passes.
Walton you just tell your players to get as far away from the ball as humanly possible.
Yes, it doesn't matter.
Yes, it does.
You kind of step back, play a matador found it didn't happen exactly.
You don't have foul.
Do not foul.
Actually.
Don't touch him.
Don't touch him.
And that'll do it.
Stop doesn't count.
Miller groans.
Come back.
Comes back.
Just a little short in the southwest.
A cab once again chants Girls, last 5a1.
Matthew Walton champions 2008 2009, 2010.
In the rematch of the 2012 championship game Southwest, a cab comes out on top and they had to survive to do their job.
One word that describes what Southwest to Cap did tonight was game.
It was great.
They've got this break now for Milagros and these young girls are now champions Raven Tirado, Kathy Walton.
Coach, are you ready to have a heart attack?
Yeah.
Oh, man, I tell you, they didn't play like that all year.
One man, they look like they know how to play next man.
They look like they never picked up a ball before.
Okay, Just take it back a year.
How much things can change in one year.
You're walking away the runner up.
Now you came back.
You're the winner.
Was this a motivation to get here today?
It definitely was.
It was days caught in unfinished business.
But we were so close last year and you know, it's yeah, credit to them.
They're a great team.
We felt really horrible after that game.
They didn't want that feeling again.
You face Miller Grove obviously this is the fifth time.
How much did that prepare you for tonight?
Oh, definitely.
I was to our bench because we were so young and every time we played them, they got a little bit more confidence.
So it was definitely to our advantage to play them that many times.
If you could have scripted in your mind, would you imagine this opponent in this outcome?
Yes, because our reason was really tough.
You know, Stevenson, Tucker, they were all ranked top three in the in the state all year long.
We're ones that cracked up.
So it's a tough read.
Anybody who comes out every year is going to be ready for states out of all the state titles.
Where does this one rank?
Oh, this is amazing because the kids were so young and they're so home and they had to learn so much.
So it is is right up there among the top.
Oh, cut your class.
Congratulations.
Appreciate it.
Thank you so much.
Okay, Back to you guys.
Thank you very much.
Raven Tirado of the victorious Kathy Wall, who survives the fourth quarter run by Miller Groves and Southwest to CAP, gets it one more time, 28, 29, 2010 Southwest to cap the champs of Region six the champs of five More from Macon when we come back.
It is time now to present the girls five day state championship trophy.
For that, we go to earn the role of the g h. S our coach Walton, on behalf of Dr. Ralph Swearengen and the Georgia High School Association, I want to congratulate you and your team on a great season and a great championship game.
Congratulations, Coach.
Coach Kathy Walton, you're holding the hardware there.
You've held it three times before.
Talk about winning number four.
This is very special because we had such a young we had to learn how to be team players, to be teammates, and they did it.
This is one of the best group of young ladies you ever want to be associated with the young thing.
But I know I got a senior writer, Dave Clark, talk a little bit of what this means to you as a senior to go out with the championship.
It's a blessing.
It's really a blessing.
If it was a facade with the camera, our fans, everybody, we love golf, the match, everybody supported us.
Everybody supported us.
The thing is, it's a blessing to leave with a ring.
It's a blessing.
All right.
Let's talk to my right here.
Mya, you had a great game.
You're a senior.
Talk a little bit about winning this championship trophy.
You look at it right there.
Oh, no.
I to say, it was my first one ever.
So I'm so happy and I'm proud of my teammates and my fans and my parents and coach.
And of course, they helped us get where we need to be.
All right.
I will coach one more time.
Congratulations very much.
The five AA girls state champions.
Congratulations, Southwest again.
Appreciate it.
This is out of Southwest.
And this especially Pops because I know Chelsea came through.
Thank you, everybody, all the administrators.
Thank you very much.
GHC, the Southwest, the cab Lady Panthers five a state champions once again.
Now the time over with that party, with our tailgate party.
Take it away.
Congratulations to the girls.
Five, eight champions.
And we now get ready for the boys five a title game.

They're from Iowa and they're actually going to join us tomorrow.
They are going to join us.
So it's pretty exciting.
You know, they were watching our game.
They are not even the state of Georgia.
I know.
I know.
So that's you know, what, the excitement extends beyond Georgia.
And I'm going to be talking to you a little bit later on, but I'm going to see what Mark is up to.
Hey, Mark.
Hey, It's good to see you guys.
We're getting ready for basketball this weekend, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
But we're also already preparing at GPB for this upcoming fall's Football Fridays in Georgia.
Here's Jon Nelson with a look at what we can look forward to seeing come fall this fall at season three of football.
Friday's in Georgia.
Join us each Friday evening starting August 30th with the all access pass pre-game show as we kick the season off at North Gwinnett High School for a doubleheader with the National High School Gridiron Challenge that we continue every Friday all the way on the road, the dome and finally, the 20 GHC championships from the Georgia Dome.
On and off the field, GPB Sports showcases the best of high school football, starting with the all access pregame show a live full half hour that takes you behind the scenes of the towns and high schools we feature each week.
They are all catching the spirit.
We'll show you how they made it to the semifinals last week at Fillmore East, but it is winning Time live on GPB, and that's followed by the kickoff, one of the best high school matchups in the state.
Shovel pass, it's pick up and they're going to take it in for a touchdown.
We bring you rent check, checking in with the parents here for a segment we like to call Rich.
Let's play some rent check and see how well you know Trey as well as are you smarter as we celebrate the school and community all night Ring the bell.
You are right.
You are smarter than your, say, football Fridays in Georgia, from Ringgold to Valdosta and Savannah to Lagrange this year, three Football Fridays in Georgia, along with the All-Access Pass all season on the Great GPB.
All right, now back to basketball.
We want to welcome in Deja Clay, a senior for Southwestern Caps.
Congratulations.
Look hand.
How's that feel To have that one on is wonderful.
This is wonderful.
It's a blessing.
It's a blessing to play for coach Kathy Watson.
It's a blessing to play with my teammates.
We had our opens in downs and everything, but we came out with a win and I'm so proud of us.
Talk about this game a little bit because it was a game of runs.
You guys had a small lead at the half.
You took a big lead in the third quarter.
You almost lost that lead.
Those back and forth, back and forth in the fourth quarter.
I mean, it was it was hard because Middle was a great team and we played them.
We played them back and forth, back and forth during the regular season.
So we really just had to come out and just believe in ourselves and believe in our coaches and just just have confidence in our field.
And that's what one of the games we know what the fans believe in.
You too.
How important are your fans?
They are very important.
They support, I say, school.
That's just what is it before we have it's always the Cavs.
So they really great things to talk about about the program because you won three supposed to have I think in 2000 3000, nine, 2010 and now in 2013 you get the fourth one is I mean, I was in ninth grade when we went our last way.
So me being as hands very I was you know, I was I really want to ahead I really want to reign.
I really want to give my coach something that that I really want.
Get my coach something that'll mean something else mean something to me and mean something to my team.
So our organization is great.
I mean, we work hard in practice.
We work hard in practice.
After practice, we have a bye.
So listen to organization.
Great.
Talk a little bit about this year's team because it was a mix.
There were some seniors like yourself.
There are a lot of young players presence and sophomores as well.
We had to work here because a lot of our younger players are very good and we did.
We we had to believe in our team.
We had to believe in each other.
So Being that we had younger players, it was days we had to believe in them and we had made them within ourselves as well.
And being an I'm not a starter, it was just it was great because just to look at them and to see them getting so young, it was it was great.
How about that picture right there?
That looks great.
That is wonderful.
That's happiness right there is the happiness is it's it's great.
That is what it's all about.
Holding up that ring.
Give us a while.
We're number one.
Number one, baby number one.
So I was scared.
And number one, I basically thanks very much to senior Southwest the cab.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Congratulations.
And the boys five eight game is the primetime game tonight so far.
What to expect with the region's game preview.
Let's check in with Gil Tyree and Herb White.
All right.
We say good evening, Chad Carney, and we welcome you and your star primetime exclusive coverage of the championship.
Standing by and getting ready for the five day battle.
It'll be the red elephants of Gainesville versus the Miller Grove Wolverines.
Gil Terry along with Herbalife.
I want to talk a little bit about the storylines for Gainesville, an opportunity to hit that daily double.
They had a football championship, a chance to add a basketball championship with a win tonight.
Yeah They kind of remind me of the small schools from the old days where kids had to play football and basketball and every sport in their school, and these guys got kind of a late start getting their groove because they won the football championship mid-December.
And as I was talking to D.J.
Shockley, he played basketball in high school and football.
He said, it always takes you a few weeks really, to convert over from playing football, basketball, the conditioning is different, hand-eye thing is different.
So it took a while, but once they hit their stride, man and look back and on the other side, Miller Grove an opportunity to make it five straight champions championships for sure.
White in company.
I tell you what.
Yeah, there's an old expression.
They look good getting off the bus.
This is an impressive looking crew of athletes here.
They all look like they're six, five, six, six, six, seven and well built.
And I don't know where they keep coming from.
They look.
