He's coming in, hits a helicopter, slammed tap to pull up from three, can watch the sky go wheel drive and backs it in and gets it.
It's game three of the state championships here in Georgia.
It'll be Tucker and south west, the cab of Battle of the Cab County, a.k.a.
Georgia.
And on the line tonight, a58 tie, too.
Will it go to the Panthers or will it go to the Tigers?
As John Nelson would say, I'm Jill.
He's Herb.
We welcome you to JP's live and exclusive prime time coverage of the state championships and the first game of the evening session.
Herb like we have an interesting game.
We sure do.
I mean Southwest Aqib defense this year at times it's been mind boggling.
They've held teams for stretches of games three and four games averaging 20 points a game against him.
So I mean that's just tough.
But we already know Tucker's scored 56 on him once this year.
Let's take a look at southwest a cab.
We're going to go with two players for them, the Davion Wingate, two point guard to make things happen for them.
She can also score for herself, the fathers, David Wingate, and see on the NBA telecast.
He's a good college basketball player from John Thompson at Georgetown.
It's rare.
An NBA player and then Tony's Martin is a 510 forward.
She can actually get up over the rim.
She's very athletic and she's a defensive stopper and that mental form.
And her father played with Charles Barkley.
Tucker, Tigers, We're going with Erica Davenport's, his six foot 213 points, 11 rebounds, game averages, a double double.
She can take over a game at times.
And she's going to the University of Miami and she's an outstanding talent.
We'll take a look at the starting lineups tonight.
First for the Tucker Tigers and of course, our lineups are brought to you by our good friends at Regions Bank.
You see the Jackson twins and the Robinson, the aforementioned Davenport and Trimble.
They will be coming out for Robin quarter and and then on me Southwest, the Cavs side, we took a look at starting lineups there Burke talked about the derby on Wingate Jada Walton the she's her Martin and tangible Williams and the keys tonight unlock them for everybody.
Well Wingate and Martin both scored together over half the points for Southwest to camp.
So they have to play well and they have to impose their defensive will on this Tucker team.
And for Tucker Tucker, they've got to forget about that loss a couple of weeks ago in the region Championship, get that out of their minds and come out with confidence.
And they got to make someone besides Martin and Wingate score and beat them.
All right.
Our keys to the success brought to you by the technical college system of Georgia.
Learn more and more.
Spend an outstanding day of basketball.
And we got started here early on, and we will extend our congratulations to Kendrick for one.
Get a shot of Cathy Walton on the Southwest.
The cap side and her counterpart along the way for the Tucker Tigers and Robin Potter.
And you see Cathy's success.
She's been there, done that, and she has the Midas touch her.
She's gone over that program.
I mean, I was strong, strong feelings for Cathy and what she's done.
She's one of my favorite people.
But Godfrey, when he was there, they do a great job.
They take a look at Robin Potter and she's done an outstanding job with the Tucker Tigers.
And I have a strong love for that program.
The administrators over at Tucker, Special people and just love the atmosphere over there.
They get it done, very community minded and do great works for their students there.
You know, we were talking a little bit before about great coaches and what it takes to be great coaches and what they do.
And of course, you know, great coaches always have a system that they believe in and they get their players to buy into their system.
But, you know, the truly great coaches that I've found that are successful over a sustained period, yes, they have a system, but they're willing to change it.
We look at the road and how they got here.
Sponsored by good friends at Georgia, EMC for Southwest, the Cavaliers.
Yeah, they took down Logan Bill by 2014 over Sequoia.
Pretty good win over Stevenson and Forest Park.
So you know nothing close really And then Tucker Road to Lincoln Tucker Road a little bit tighter games they beat Gainesville by six, won by five over Osborne by six over Salem and pretty good win over Drew.
So they've been tested, though, in close games and they come out ahead of this getting through here tonight.
David Jenkins, Kelsey Rodgers, Jensen and Luana Johnson.
And we are underway Southwest.
A cab dressed in white Tucker and their traditional maroon with the gold trims and some white there as well.
Southwest a cab trying to negotiate a run in the lane on the miss and putting it up.
And no good was Jada won't go the other way early on here in middle Georgia on a Friday night on games on day two of the championships, another long three and a long three by Nu Jackson.
I was Jackson's sisters, Jackson twins, to be exact.
Splitting the defensive cross is Davion Wingate, but she passed off to The Chaser who missed the easy one and Tucker with the rebound the other way on the baseline and going inside a little teardrop was by Davenport.
No good.
And Tucker gets it right back off the steal a ten foot or no good off the side by Trimble Tucker still with the basketball Trimble's going to try to get from the corner they'll miss the rebound it's controlled by southwest to Kat Tucker got three good looks at the rack that time down.
Could knock any of them down.
Both teams have both a man to man deal Charlie Smart and with the rebound and still with the basketball top of the key she's going to launch it there and miss it a brick but a rebound controlled by Tucker tempo up on the wing and letting it flies and the miss was new but Jackson and sliding on the floor to try to force it up was Erica Davenport and we have a whistle.
Well, you're right about letting it fly Hill coming up and down the floor and taking three pointers pretty quick on the shot clock.
I'm not sure Coach Potter was thrilled with that last week.
It seems like selfless.
The cab is doing what they like to do because Cathie Walton always likes to in the half court to get the good shot, the burn as much clock as they can.
They get a good shot, a high percentage shot.
Well, they burned about 2 seconds.
Once they get past court on that last one.
That's what I think Kathy will stand over there with her hands on her hips and that court knocks down the first of two or quarter, Tucker, to force that tempo curve was right.
The first one by Davenport is good.
She'll try another and a miss a four nothing lead Tucker in joy over southwest to get here in the early evening in Macon.
That's what it is.
And holding it at high is the Shazier that tangible Williams the most like they're about to shake her and Tucker with the basketball and going full steam Nice look nice control great there found the open man low but Jackson the assist and Jamilah Moore connected well looks like Tucker's put that region championship loss out of their mind they've come out started very well in this ballgame correctly that was Mama Jackson on that basket I say, Jackson, you'll be okay Launching a long one from the corner in and out was Jada Walton, the rebound controlled by Tucker Nice bounce pass and Davenport fumbled with it lost it out of bounds turnovers it'll go to Southwest to cash.
Davenport took a tough fall Yeah and so far so good enough.
Yes.
Southwest to catch the Panthers have been pretty content just to fire from outside.
It's got to look at Robin Potter Davenport already with six rebounds.
Just got another one.
Make that seven tops and we have a violation and a turnover and the ball will go to Southwest to catch early strategy early on.
Herb, for both these teams right now.
Well, like I said, I think Southwest kept settling too easily for the jump shot.
I'd like to see him work to try to get inside a little bit.
And there you go.
And that's a wrap.
Go.
That's one zero on the travel, struggling little out of sorts right now Southwest you can have their rhythm.
You know it was that great defense they had.
They usually create a lot of opportunities off their defense.
And then they had a really hit and miss.
So far in this ballgame, Tucker managed to take the basketball pretty well, except some unforced turnovers.
They've had Alexander in and one game will sit right next to Cathy Walden, substitute one for Southwest, the cat.
That's Davenport.
Stops pops, knocks it down inside the lane.
Nice shot by the six two forward again going down to Miami, play some basketball, make some serious that'll make it eight nothing.
And quickly Kathy Walt and Kathy Wolfe.
So something let's say I want to stop this right now.
Let's take a look at the opening salvo from Tucker right here in the first three, mainly by eight eight.
Nothing early on here to make it.
We'll be right back to middle Georgia after these very important messages on Georgia Public Broadcasting.
We're back here in Macon.
Jill Tyree, her voice and Kevin Barnes are statistics.
And of course, a reminder coming up tonight, immediately following this in Miller Grove, it sure like tip number five or, huh, Andy Martin just did I believe Jon Nelson and good buddy getting it done.
Well, Southwest a cab over five from the floor so far.
And like I said, the quality of the shots has not been great.
They've had a couple open looks from outside that shot a little quickly, in my opinion.
And Tucker, three for seven.
And they've missed three.
That had a really good chance to make it.
So they're getting quality looks right now.
That vaunted Southwest camp defense is not really bothering them at this point.
And Southwest to travel in Dublin to trigger it in trailing eight nothing, some 1 to 2 full court pressure by Tucker.
You've got Jackson with 3 to 3.
Robinson with to Davenport with three to lead the scoring for Tucker right now I'm like I said up eight nothing you see it up obviously early on here at Macon in game three and day two of the championship party in Little Georgia.
353 in the opening period, Tucker dropped back into his own defense.
Looks like a three, two or 212.
Martin rises up and knocks it down to Miss Martin.
She gets the Panthers on the scoreboard and the first points of the afternoon, that's.
Jackson Yeah.
And it rolls around and drops the bounce and then being able to get to the rack and the dish.
Clever.
Trumble Her first to the penetration and the dish and another turnover Jackson in transition is moving Jackson Jackson to Jackson.
These Jackson winds really know how to pass that basket so do 12 to 2 the biggest lead of the night enjoyed by Tucker and they've got a blocking holding.
Let's take a look at the last nice dish as you mentioned Jackson to Jackson.
Right.
And that foul was on Jackson her first keep it in the family the first one foul apiece Tucker and southwestern care pretty clean game so far Olivia Gibbs entering the game and Jada Walton exiting the Southwest to catch the substitution for everyone And little foul on the breakdown on the south on the Tucker defense, on the out of bounds play here you see the shades here just slip right in there you can't allow that to happen fouls on Erica Davenport her first got to make them go deep over that inbounds pass Can't give it up coming towards the hoop the completion of the end one, it's now 12 to 5.
Tory Robinson over to Lamar Jackson.
That's Davenport on the baseline.
Tries to throw it up no good The rebound taken down by Martin Barton launches a three off the no good rebound Fox on the floor but Davenport also there with her in the scrum and they're going to get the foul on was that Gibbs I tell you Davenport's one of those players, Gail, that my old buddy Tommy Burns used to say, just look good missing.
Even when she misses.
She looks good.
She's so smooth taking that ball to the basket.
Well, she's a difference maker, you know, She stands above everybody else.
I mean, we we saw that last night in the elbow, a young lady move from Reed and the great ones always have, always in these type of games, always come to the top.
Oh, we got to stop the stop it to close and been a clock problem.
And you get a look at Kathy Roby, wonderful family, husband, two sons that she can talk about any anything in sports.
I mean, it doesn't have to be basketball, tennis, golf, you name it.
She knows about an incredibly gifted basketball coach and her ladies have the basketball and moving the other way, dropping that baseline and laying it up and in.
On a nice move of Daisy on Wednesday coast to coast by Wingate.
He's got to stop that dribbler She took it the length of the court Well seven now the penetration like five and off the glass.
Tory Robinson Are you kidding me, Huh?
Nobody's paying attention to me.
They're just letting the ball handler just take it to the rack.
You got to pick up the ball and stop it and make them pass off.
At least the trap.
Not giving the Panthers any problems.
They break it going baseline and putting it up.
The offense being called for an offensive charge, gloves to it.
That's her first and the team's third under the two minute mark here but missed by Robinson the rebound controlled by Southwest to catch that was Bostic and now that's Damian Wingate with the basketball And Tucker's gone back man to man.
Play that just for a moment.
And on the way to decision is shaking to Wingate when Gates two doubled pump blocked like thrown rebound ball's out of bounds and the officials say it went off south wants to catch so it will be Tucker basketball Well Tucker bearing down on the two scores for southwest a cab somebody else may have to score some points for the Panthers today if they're going to win this game.
Tucker's biggest lead early on has been ten for the pick, Erika Davenport just said.
And right now it's at nine.
So glad to see those scores.
Also said picks for other people shows me they're an all around player Lamar Jackson being able to rise up and getting the bounce 16 seven.
Now that jumper giving Tucker a nine point lead and see whose bell she ran, but she rung somebodies bell at the elbow there to for your teammates for the shot Jackson on the foul that's when you lost it out of bounds off from Tucker player possession regains by southwest to cap they trailed 16 to 7 the inbounds go down to basic down low up and in and count it Oh that's very nice by Boston She caught the ball high and rather than bring it down with a smaller person to get her hand on it, she just kept it high the whole time.
Watch this catches it has never get below the waist and laid it in one lane.
Fundamentally, the entry pass right there, that's as good as it gets.
And Bostick went after it too.
That's what you do.
You go and get it when somebody takes that is nice enough to throw the ball toward you, go and get it.
They might throw it to you again.
The foul was on Trimble, her first loose hands.
Yeah, Losing the basketball that time is Jackson and we'll go the other way That's when get on the wing drives and going in for the reach of the foul was Torrey Robinson that's your first taste.
If you get a look at Robin Potter, go to Tucker when Gate Baseline pulls up.
No good way down for four and numbers.
Tucker has numbers as wide and not able to beat the buzzer.
Was Troy Robinson.
But they had it but they couldn't beat the clock.
So we in the first quarter here and making our score Tucker 16 southwest to cap ten.
We'll be right back to middle Georgia after this cool out may have no go.
Welcome back to the Macon Coliseum.
Tucker Currently leading southwest the Cats, 16 to 10 heading into the second quarter.

Guelph Grace Nobody does it better than you and you got your own fan club from Greater Atlanta.
Kristen I will tell you this, that there's some people trending right now on Twitter.
Thomas Brown, coach Thomas Brown, he's at Wisconsin now, Tucker Hallam, Asher Allen and Marshon Brooks, who played at Tucker, who's now with the Los Angeles Lakers.
I can tell you for a fact that those guys are in line and they are watching.
And I'm going to give a shout out to James Vaughters at Stanford, a Tucker alum, watching his kids right now.
You know, it's also it's always awesome now.
Okay, Tucker, with the basketball launch of the three and calling playoffs and getting it done and knocking it down is Corey Robinson 19 to 10 now, Boy, you don't like to see those in a championship game, those 30 foot bank shots.
You start to wonder, are things going to go our way?
Almost a steal by Davenport boy Southwest attack really struggling in the half court launching a long bomb and the miss and no good.
The airball was to Shazier and it looks like right now Tucker's just frustrating the Panthers.
Let's take a look at the last basket and I don't think she called this one back.
Like I say, you know, things are going your way when you bank them.
330 Wingate and Martin two for seven.
So we talked about that beforehand.
Just the two people they had to shut down.
So far, Tucker's doing it.
And we said they had to come out and forget about that region championship loss and looks like they've done that for sure.
It's like Southwest is going zone or this time We've seen that early in this game, but we also know hasn't been so much Southwest defense is their offense.
It's really letting them down right now.
They've just not been able to to really get quality shots for most of the first half, Gibbs saw her second from the corner and then missed that.
Tucker, was Jackson up foul underneath another offensive rebound?
You're right.
Well, that'll give the coach gray hairs when you give up the offensive rebound to the smallest player on the floor and then you fouler for 14 I assume that Southwest he can beat Alexander on the foul ball first for Robinson it's one for 15 foul on no southwest at camp Tucker also has five rebounds about even but Tucker has had a couple of offensive rebounds and there was one just a moment ago and that hurt.
Corey Robinson leads the team in assists.
She also has a high three point average.
And so knocking and knocking one down early on and she now has nine in transition and laying it up.
And in for Southwest.
The cab was amazing on Wednesday and that makes it 1221 to 12 double dribble turnover.
Yeah that's a nice move by Wingate.
They need more of that.
She took it in all the way.
They finally got a quality shot down his last basket right here.
Her one game, just able to get around at the center and go strong to the left baseline when you get the push shot and miss, did you see that the rebound goes up but correctly, that was Bostic.
And then Tony Martin went up and she was fouled.
Southwest again came out of that last time outbreak.
Seem to be a little more focused on her start down in the boards Davenport called for the foul her second yeah they can ill afford to lose her and like you said heading down to Miami.
And they have to stay in that zone, keep Davenport out of foul.
The second one is good.
21 to 13.
The Panthers employ the press and a trap.
Try to rattle.
TUCKER They're able to break it up.
ROBINSON Of course, drives loses it out of bounds, and the ball go off off the bottom of the bag.
Border towns and nice job by Tucker handling the pressure Go to the middle of the court.
Robinson is just the last pass that was faulting when the cannon Tucker implants in Chris so she tempo is able to break that trap on the left wing and launching a bomb and no good Tucker with numbers Tucker with numbers is right and they're going to get the chippy and connecting there with UVA.
Jackson nice assist from Davenport.
The big girl can pass as well and take it up the floor and seven foot two.
Jackson missed the double dribble.
Then pulling up and rising up from the miss was that they saw Alexander Tucker with the rebound and we have a foul in the foul.
Looks like it's been called on Wingate.
Let's take a look at that last basket points.
Nice pass by Davenport.
She could have taken it herself, but gave it up for the sure bucket here and move it.
Jackson And you know, Tucker likes play up tempo and the reason is Southwest the Cavs half court defense is really stifling, but they're not giving them a chance to set it up.
Yeah, nice spin move by Davenport.
The big over for the travel Oh wheel around again Lane.
Sometimes you make such a great move.
The official didn't leave it.
Let's take a look at that.
If we get a chance.
Here you go.
Let's see.
I didn't see anything wrong with that one, except the officials tell me everybody misses him from the corner.
Is was Martin and the miss on the board Ball fought for and out of bounds and it will go over to Tucker 521 until halftime.
Yeah I'm very impressed with Tucker's game plan.
Again, getting the ball up the floor and getting good shot before Southwest.
A catch sets up that day and now they're getting all the rolls and the bounce is that one hit the back of the plate and just died and fell in college.
Terry Robinson as the C's caught it right down the middle, 45 to 13.
Now, Coach Walton can't be happy at this point as shooter as busted with the rebound and a miss Martin follows it up and he gets it to go.
Good work there by the Panthers.
They need a lot more than Panthers two of nine shooting and before that they were one in six in this second quarter substitute substitutions.
Let's watch the Panthers, watch the boards It's one offensive rebound to good work substitutions for D Casey Kelly in and also Jada working that's Kelly Walton almost tied up and throws it away on the turnover that's Tucker and that's Jackson one of the Jackson twins history Robinson Oh in and out.
Not a good look.
And she can knock it down from Atlanta.
Trey rebound control that place pick up the ball WALTON And he called it Ah yeah you can't pick up the ball just when he cross half court They're going to smother you with that double this second time in a row.
They got in trouble there.
But the score 2515 for 14 until the half and making Tucker on her way to possibly a first title.
We'll be right back.
Let's go over here in Macon, 25 to 15, the Class five state championship for girls, the Tigers out in front of the Panthers, one of our signature programs on GPB, Georgia Traveler.
This season, the Traveler crew take some scenic getaways and walks on a few adrenaline adventures and of course, dive of some of the best restaurants.
And the Peach State has to offer all that and much more.
Don't miss Georgia Traveler on the Great G to me David Zaleski.
And let's get zip learn how those partied remember that they didn't get fell on that I guess they didn't have a strong enough line but I tell you, you must get a lot of Christmas cards, buddy.
I've never seen him by his friends with more people in the coaching profession.
I'm telling you, your mailbox must be stuffed come the holidays.
Now we got his own.
Is that.
Is that a shadow?
A joke?
No, it's the truth.
They all love you.
And rightfully so.
In the corner, letting it go and knocking it down deep in the corner.
What's new with Jackson and that lead now at 13 up biggest here and make it Booker with pressure tied up southwest to catch an alternate possession the arrows going to go to southwest to cap let's take a look at that last corner three here it is southwest a cab in the zone.
He didn't work any better than the man to man.
And we saw the same thing last night in the rebound game.
I mean, if they get set, they get camp and they get the perfect position in terms of spotting.
And like you said, they're at the perfect spots and they let it go.
The Miss by Southwest, a catch that's huge.
And getting there, that was really huge because that Stop the run, that was Jada Walton getting inside traffic and getting it off glass.
Very important.
Three and a half minutes coming up here, Gil, that was they didn't score there.
It was going to be really tough.
But look at a fast break towards numbers.
So yeah, six for Tucker none for Southwest Chance to get a fast break Southwest a capital one right now Scruggs stumbling and fumbling with the basketball was Walton She goes hard to the floor.
Robinson was over there and we got a foul and the foul is on Tory Robinson.
Yeah she got bailed out a little bit Sucker Wingate did.
She was a little out of control and they gave Robinson the foul.
I'm not sure it was, but she was fortunate there.
She'll be going to the line for the one and one seventh foul on Tucker, but I can't say enough for these two programs.
I mean, going over to the schools respectively, spending time with the administrators, the administrators in these two communities care about these programs.
I mean, Kathy Walton, who you see right there, you will see her for during the football season.
She makes her team go through they do cross-country running and their drills start like in right when the football teams practice it.
I remember going over there when Gottfried was a coach and I'm watching this, watching him practice and I'm saying he's saying, look, Kathy Walton has the girls over there.
I mean, she's a stickler for fitness and conditioning and and the program has really thrived under her leadership right now.
They trailed by 11.
ROBINSON Tough little point guard, takes another one to the rack and scores.
She has 13 from Intercepted to make and get the turnover That's Davenport in the middle at the free throw line lets it fly no good rebound controlled by the Panthers and we're going the other way They're on a run Nice move by Walton.
Excuse me.
Nice move by Wingate and being able to knock it down Great body control there to catch that pass and go up all in one motion.
Davion Wingate brings it to nine.
That's Davenport.
Contact the pass.
And getting the roll to go was Quinlan Hughes Nifty inside, passing again by Davenport.
She doesn't force anything.
Well, she gives it up now, Tucker, giving up a couple of easy baskets is not the time to do it.
She could expanded that lead Southwest to Kevin.
A little bit of a comeback.
Stacy Kelly on that basket, 32 to 23.
Robinson.
So look for Davenport to wheel around up and in right over Bostick.
Nice to have that interior weapon you can go to when you just need a good quality shot 34 to 23.
The back door and the miss of the chippy was Jada Walton.
And that hurt Robinson with the rebound from Tucker gets the defender falls down a scrum floorboards everybody still diving for.
Southwest to cab has it Robinson may be hurt and letting one fly and not connecting it was Alexander and Bostick with a foul on Jackson at the free throw line and her first and that will send Jackson to the line Bostic had to know they're going to call that coming over the back with the heck coming into this game Southwest Bearcats throw it to Tucker Tate and for both as we said, hailing from Region six this the third meeting between these two teams.
It was just a fifth free throw attempt by the Tucker Tigers Jackson again and that'll add on metal equal the biggest lead so far at 13.
MARTIN That's MITCHELL.
Now to Martin, who looks at Martin Wingate, I would imagine, because Jason nice blouse pants to Martin's parents and thanks to them, calls glass and a foul on Davenport.
And that's that's Davenport.
That's her third, I believe.
Let's see it for a shot.
But Martin got it down off the backboard.
What's big about that?
As you mentioned, Davenport, with the fourth, third foul?
Yes, huge.
And that's the 38 second mark right at the close of the second quarter.
And right before that, 36 to 26.
The lead now at ten.
And better be careful.
She picks up a charge.
Well, that's out of bounds.
So Tucker player and it goes to Southwest to cab and the Panthers have a little bit of run at them.
Well I believe I get Davenport out of the ball game.
I know she's a smart player, but anything can happen.
You got that right, that miss.
And that's Davenport with the rebound, Tucker.
Four of six in their last field goals and the turnover almost knocked out of bounds by Southwest.
The Cavs with 15 seconds to go.
Dill Tyree Herb White welcoming you to Macon and standing by for a halftime show, The lovely Claire Sims and the handsome Mark Harmon, the Miss.
And there's Davenport, Johnny on the spot to put it up and in it to stop the bleeding.
It's 38 to 26 now.
5 seconds to go.
That's Martin Struggling with it loses it.
They still have it.
A launch at the buzzer by The Chaser.
No.
So that is where we end at the half 38 to 26.
Tucker, Out in front of Southwest the cab, Raven Toronto standing by with coach Paul Potter.
Ladies, it's all yours, Coach, this year.
You've been here, you've been on top, you've had the lead.
But what do you guys need to do?
Make sure you're not complacent.
You can get the win in the end.
I don't think we'll be complacent.
We just have to stay out of foul trouble, which at this point Eric has got three.
And that's troubling.
We have to keep the intensity up throughout.
They've come back on us in the championship game, so we'd have to stay focused.
Going into the second half.
You know, boxing out is going to be critical for my sophomores especially.
Well, Coach, good luck.
Thank you.
All right.
Over to you, too, Mark.
Thanks, Raven.
We at halftime of the girls five, a state championship game.
The Tucker Tigers taking on the Southwest the cat Lady Panthers right now Tucker leading it by 12 3826.
And when we come back, we're going to have a check of social media, let you know what people all around the state are talking about as this game continues right here on TV season.
You we are live in the heart of Georgia, alive at the Macon Coliseum, live in the USA Boys and Girls basketball championship.
We are live on GPB across the state and we are at halftime of the girls five eight state championship game right now.
Tucker is leading Southwest to have 38 to 26.
And there are a lot of people talking about this game online.
Let's check in with our social media correspondent Grace Olsen with a look at what we're talking about.
GRACE Thank you, sir.
That's right.
I've been interacting with the fans watching this game, and I've noticed there are a lot of people watching whose teams got knocked out earlier in the playoffs or earlier this season.
I had a tweeter named Amnesia says Definitely going for Southwest recap this game.
Since Tucker knocked us out, they lost in the semifinals, as Drew did.
She said, Hashtag Charles drew Titans forever.
So now she's rooting for Southwest Recap today.
Now, also, if you're watching and you need to get up and do something, you need to step away from the television, not to fear.

All right.
We can do it.
All right.
Now, let's check in with the Georgia EMC High School basketball scoreboard.
Two games in the books right now.
In the first game today, it was Kendrick knocking off Wesleyan 69 to 58 to win the girls to a state championship game.
And the boys class double game.
It was a terrific shootout.
Greater Atlanta Christian goes back to back, defeating Calhoun by just three points, 58 to 55 right now at the half of the class five girls it is defending champs A-plus to cap trailing the Tucker Tigers and all the cap county shootout 38 to 26.
And coming up next, Miller Grove will go for a sixth straight state title.
They take on Warner Robins.
That tip top about 845 or so.
Should be a dandy.

The folks here in Macon of a very hospital to all our GPB crew.
I've had a great time down here.
Yeah.
And you know, after this game, we're going to be talking to our news director, Rickey Bevington, about six words from a Southerner.
We had fried chicken and green beans and macaroni and cheese.
And so you're saying that was a perfect fit for six words for a Southerner.
So we want to hear from you.
Use that hashtag and we might share your six words when we come back after this second half, maybe even some catfish, who knows?
But we're getting ready for the second half of the girl's five state championship game and all the Cab County finale of the Southwest.
The Cavs taking on the Lady Tigers.
And Tucker, you better not go anywhere.
Gail Tyree and her wife will have the first time in my life and stats and a very exciting second half.
That's all jets up next on GPB with the halftime festivities continue here at the Macon Coliseum part of the outstanding center plex and middle Georgia and our score at halftime you see it's there with the Tucker Tigers enjoying a 12 point lead over southwest the cat I'm Gil he's are your impressions of the first half so far.
Well Tucker's done a good job of not having Southwest the Cavs half court defense influence this game because they've actually beaten the pressure whenever it was there or else they've gotten the ball up the floor in a hurry and actually got most of their shots before Southwest, the cab was able to set that fearsome defense.
Let's take a look at some of the highlights of this basketball game right now.
And Herb, run us through.
Okay.
Here, you see Wingate, baby on Wingate for two on the drive.
Another nice move inside by Wingate.
They need a little more of that inside presence.
Tucker Robinson for two.
Robinson Driving for two more.
Robinson With the bank shot.
I feel the theme here.
Nice.
First half is played in now the long corner jumper and that's Miss Jackson.
And with a reason why we show Miss Jackson and Miss Robinson.
They are two leading scorers right now.
Jackson with 12 to 3, Robinson with 13.
What other stats jump out at you?
Well, right now there's a difference in the ballgame.
15 for 26 for Tucker, much better shooting.
A lot of those, of course, were layups and, you know, Southwest Cavs started the game flying a lot from outside and they didn't make anything from three point distance.
So they started going inside, taking it to the hoop and came out better free throws about even a little bit of an edge for Tucker on the boards.
But several of those have been offensive rebounds.
But Southwest Camp got back into this thing by getting on the offensive board, and I look for them to really step up.
The defense here.
You heard Coach Potter talk to Raven and they're concerned about Davenport getting that fourth foul.
She got three in a first half.
And we're going to say thanks to our good friends at Farm Bureau of Georgia.
Gavin, That's not in the ballgame right at the second half, so don't bother making sure that she doesn't take it out for that early fourth.
Yeah, right.
And the other thing that Coach Potter mentioned was they had the lead in the region championship game on Southwest a caravan at halftime and then they let them come back.
So that's got to be on their mind as well.
Driving the lane is name of Jackson.
I know there's two Jackson twins and the foul right now on number 42 Angela Williams her first or second excuse me instant corrected Tevin Barnes again Eagle I imagine if Tucker is able to maintain a double digit lead for a little while and just see Davenport stay on the bench until you know, they made enough to send down below double figures.
So the measurables on on Jackson after she connects on both of those free throws and five foot eight Tucker enjoying that track southwest to cap really struggling to at least get a turnover but Southwest to cab able to hold on to it streaking baseline and putting it up and no good was Jada Walton her mom ask you this regarding the ability to break the press right thing to do here when you're able to spread everybody out how they were able to get people on wings and flashing them to the whole right.
You got to spread that press out and you got to try to get the ball in the middle.
But what they are still doing and they almost had to no, you can't pick up that ball over there in the corner just across a half court line.
That's where they're going to clamp down.
And Tucker just missed with the interception a moment ago.
So you want to get it deeper into the half court once you cross so they can't get that double team in that little spot.
They're two free throws made by Jada Walton.
It's 40 to 28 early on here, that third quarter, our third game of Forward.
And of course, this place is going to be jam packed tonight.
And Warner Robins nearby will be taking on Miller Grove some and wide and company, trying to get that fifth in a row made basket by Hughes.
She has four.
There you go.
That's where you want to get it.
Take it as far as let you good spacing that time.
By Southwest, a pair of guys across half court had somebody in the corner and you'll see the spacing and if they don't stop, you keep driving.
Nice job foul On Trumbull her second and the Shazier at the line She misses the force You know we talk about that game coming up and Sean Goulding and John Nelson are going to call it Milagros and Little Robins.
You know, last year you and I had a chance to call the military for games.
Okay.
Well, if you were calling championships much over the last several years, he called some Miller good games, that's for sure.
And what a success.
Shout out to a former Miller Grove player.
Dante Williams had senior night at Georgia the other night.
Don Tate playing on a state championship team at Miller Grove and just a wonderful young man and did a great job at University of Georgia while he was there.
And hopefully his career will extend a few more games under the training list.
Jason Miller go again to the line.
She was fouled.
That's the third or triple and shout out to Georgia Tech I might as well because people are going to accuse me of favoring Georgia but great win the other night for tech really Syracuse right there you got Brian Gregory getting it done and Georgia State also doing well.
Yes, sir.
Great basketball to not forget about Georgia State.
That's a nice move.
And around another one of those twins, the Jackson twins, with a person of Nuba with Jackson, that makes it 44 to 29.
Now, the biggest lead at 15.
Well, actually extending the lead.
And it's Davenport on the bench.
So Coach Potter's got to be ecstatic about this.
I was ecstatic as a coach can get all that's Robinson on here to Jackson crossover loses it fights for it and calls for double dribble and a turnover.
Let's take a look at that last Carter basket and Jackson again nobody stops the basketball right down Peachtree got stop that ball and and the thing that was so apparent was the flow of vision being able to weave her way through the defenders and then have a presence of mind and just take it still to the pass.
A wild shot at a miss and Tucker with the rebound that's Jackson Oh yeah Oh that nice bounce pass.
And the layup was made by Trimble, Mariah Trimble.
And that's 46 to 29.
And the lead at 17 was the biggest lead in the night was not an easy pass to make their girl she was close to her and just bounced it perfect with Tucker just going whatever they want to do, it will approaching the five minute mark in the third.
Nice job.
The goal was to chassis.
She has 13 correctly.
She has three.
I'm sorry Courtney.
She has 346 to 31.
Robinson Trying to find time to do a little too much that time going to find one of her teammates and Hughes and it was stolen away.
But what Tucker's done is playing without the third star.
They slowed the game down a little bit.
They've looked for really good shots and they've been making the good shots.
And Davenport is reporting back in now.
And she you know, that didn't work out any better for Coach Potter sitting there for the first 4 minutes or so.
And so she didn't pick up that fourth foul.
And with a 15 point lead, foul line extended the jumper and getting it to go for Southwest.
The cab is Tony's smart and smart and that's ten heavy pressure almost a violation.
It is the backcourt violation turnovers and the tempo being picked up by the Panthers right now feeling a sense of urgency.
You're a bit surprise Coach Potter went back to Davenport because she was the team was playing well without her.
And the longer you could have gone to capital would have picking up the foul.
But we'll see how it works out.
They're gone zone to protect that extra.
Sheriff, you just saw the concern etched on the face of coach talk spotter and a rebound taken down by Davenport.
I had to Robinson guard it.
Nice cut pass to Jackson, the Miss Jackson with the rebound throws it up and in great hanging by Jackson.
You know somebody just tuning in would take Johnny Slick up by Jackson from the rebound underneath by Jackson.
All right.
Let's watch the twins getting it done Watch.
This initiates contact.
But hey, just a slingshot.
Could have been a slight shuffling rotate, but the foul was on Walton.
Why ruin the good thing?
And now that 17 the end one for Jackson 16 point lead now Tucker equaling the biggest lead of the night he got back into that two three zone driving caught in the middle going strong, resulting in misses.
The chippy inside the ball on the floor, fought for.
And we have a foul called timeout this basketball game the foul was on Alexander with the scores Tucker by 16 over his with the cat 333 to go in the third we'll be right back after this.
Back here Macon and 49 to 33 and Tucker right now leading by 16.
And Herb, your thoughts?
Well, Southwest Cab has looked a little flat even coming out in the second half.
And they really have got to turn up the intensity And the way you do that is on the defensive end, trying to create stuff, going to the boards, getting rebounds, try to create some turnovers, not undoable.
They got about 11 and a half minutes left in this ballgame.
That's a long time.
But you got to start now.
And the way you do it again is on defense.
And we've got to we're going to go over to Raven right now.
Raven, I wanted to ask you something right quick.
We were in the workout room for about an hour at the motel today and never did see Gil show up.
Did he ever show?
No, he did it.
I don't know what the problem was, but let's talk about some girls that are working hard out on the court.
I was just behind the Southwest dugout bench and Coach was just saying, Guys, calm down.
Don't look at the clock.
Don't worry about the time when we can.
Let's trap the ball and let's play good defense.
Back over to you guys.
Raven, I was running the streets of Macon.
That's where I was with Kevin Barnes.
We would do a secret workout every morning and get up at the at the crack of dawn.
I had my my gray hoodie on.
Herb just didn't know who I was, so I ran right by him.
All right.
Well, coach is right.
You got to start turning up the defense, just like you said.
That's how you're going to get back in the ballgame.
Let's see what happens.
49 to 43.
I always said our biggest lead was 16.
It has been at 17.
I stand corrected.
That's Davenport.
And I said, free pass down low and negotiating and getting the basket up and in was coming in huge.
Davenport never gets in a hurry.
Everything's under control.
She's the biggest player on the floor and she, she, she sees the floor very well cuz with six the most from our top five they've had one game.
Okay, here it is in the davenport.
Nice block of the extra right there.
And Thurman here's his Johnny on the spot Two made basket by by Southwest.
The Cavs.
They go on to a press that was telling nice dump down pass by Jackson Tyus and she blew it so times Martin got a hand on that I believe nice defensive play on the wing right now and standing up and shooting a 15 so they're no good with Martha walking and they get the crowd go turnover in the walk.
Well nothing's coming easy for Southwest the doctors really turned the tables Their half court defense has been had so far this evening and it's been a it's been a struggle.
And they have courts.
That's a tough place to cap and I'm sure it hasn't.
Please, Kathy Walt one bit.
But that is, if they're calling cards, they'd love to be able to get baskets in in the halfcourt set the under and the under move with the scoop.
But Davenport does not go and the Panthers with the rebound and drive and with the nice but couldn't get it to go in the open floor as Jackson stops, Pops goes in and out.
Martin with the rebound and we're going the other way.
Well, Tucker can afford to trade misses with Southwest.
He can, but Southwest can't.
They've got to start getting some buckets to go down.
And I mean, seen from the wing.
Yeah.
Crowd it was dazzling Alexander Davenport with that he had six decided not to go out and challenge he went in the middle as Jackson and hack in the back going down the lane.
Let's take a look at this last Southwestern carver.
You see Davenport now, she didn't really go out aggressively.
The three fouls, she just kind of waved the hand at her.
And it cost him.
Davenport supposed to be able to get up over the rim pretty good.
I was hoping maybe she was going to try to throw one down.
She had a dribbling down the middle.
A moment ago, Martin called for the foul, her first.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
We just heard that Davenport actually dunked in the seventh grade.
Is it on YouTube?
Yeah, because normally those type of things are new to Commander.
That's impressive.
I order you to find video proof of the dunk because I know it's there.
I don't think we've ever had a dunk in a girl's game that I've done.
That would be something that would be.
That's something special as you had several ladies that could do it.
Maya moore could do it right now.
Diamond de Shields, I tell you what, on this story one time Lexie Brown could dunk and you know, Lexie Brown was outstanding performing at North Gwinnett.
Nice move by Wingate there to take it to the basket with a little bank shot.
Here you go hanging in there and the Eurostep.
All right, Credit cut to the 12 right here and complete an and one that's the fourth on Trumbull.
I've got to believe that the goal is to get within ten her for Kathy Wall at the end of the third quarter.
Well that'd be a huge psychological boost for Southwest to Kim Robinson that three point push doesn't go that's the one gate down the lane, full throttle ball knocked out of bounds.
The Panthers will retain possession.
Wow that's a nice defensive play by new Jackson there to reach him without fouling and stop that layup Let's watch this high dribble good hands yes And then all ball to follow.
All right.
They get in by Kelly.
You know what's going to happen now?
We'll hold off a second, see what happens here as Robinson.
But Davenport and one count it, That's big.
That's big because, you know, you get that lead down to six or seven, somewhere like that.
And Southwest, the kid knows that they've come back on this team.
Tucker knows it.
They came back on him.
Then it starts to get into your head a little bit.
But as long as you can keep that lead up in double digits, it makes it a lot easier psychologically to play folks who are going to be we're going to have a big crowd here in the Coliseum.
This place is really starting to fill up now because Miller Grove is going to take on Warner Robins.
Just a reminder at the conclusion of our basketball game, Jon Nelson and Shawn Golden are standing by.
The question is Tim Shaw White and that outstanding program with the Wolverines be able to get that fifth state title in a row in a row there?
Warner Robins has got to be hungry.
They've never brought home a state championship, and that's always huge.
And they're just up the road.
So I imagine they're going to have most of the town here this evening.
And I'll tell you something to show our white will be dressed to impress.
We saw that.
We saw the bow tie with the coach ceremony at Columbia.
Second tier.
Shaun White is going to have something that's going to look outstanding here tonight.
I say, well, he's a well dressed man.
Why don't we just stay in our seats and don't give up the seats and we just take that game as well?
I don't think John, I don't think John and Shawn would let us do it.
They're a little too young for us.
That's a three and a miss.
Was Jackson Southwest a cab with the ball.
But they get Robinson on the reach.
Well actually a pretty good foul by Robinson because it was going to be two for a layup So make them go to the free throw line and earn the Chaser was about ready and she'll inbound it right in front of us.
Oh, that is stumbling and getting around.
And then at the buzzer it was Wingate and that'll go over a little bucket by Southwest, a cab at the end of the third.
So with the score, Tucker 56 Southwest get 45.
Herb White tells you to put four fingers in the air.
We're going to the fourth.
This trophy's going back to Southwest a cab.
Or is it going to Tucker Somebody is going to win it.
We'll be right back after this.
We will stay with Jeff.
We're about ready to start the fourth here in Macon.
And we take a look at the two huddles for wait on the Inside.
First of all, let's take a look at what Robin Potter is telling her.
Young ladies at Tucker.
While for my best guess would be, hey, we got it working.
Let's stay with what we're doing.
You want to make sure you take your time and get good shots, run a little shot, but you don't want to slow it down so much that you lose your rhythm.
So keep what you're doing on offense, get good shots and on defense.
Make sure you give them one shot.
Right?
One shot.
Southwest kids had a lot more shots than Tucker has tonight, but they're not shooting well, So limited to one shot.
And we're looking inside right now, the southwest to capital with Kathy Walton.
What is she telling her?
Yeah, well, everything's got to be picked up in intensity.
They've got to get the ball up the floor.
They've got to get some good looks.
As soon as they get down the floor, maybe try to create some turnovers.
We'll see if they stay in there, Chris.
So it's going to be interesting to see what happens right from the get go here.
And she tells me, well, this one season was itself was the Cavs 28, 275 and 84 and they've been here and then that final four appearances, three consecutive seven all told championship game appearances three consecutive 2012 last year.
And of course tonight frame right now trailing by 11, bringing that man to man defense out some going after him and look for some double teams try to trap Jackson and the reach in on Robinson.
Well that's what you don't want to do play tough defense but that's the sixth foul on Southwest two caps and one more in there in the bonus and the first one quarter.
I'm Tucker.
I'm just going to work the ball on if at all possible.
Get it in to Davenport.
Let her either make the basket or pass off like she's been doing all night.
Diamond Porter against Torrey Robinson.
Robinson shakes it, drives, scoops it up.
And in that Tony Robbins, that is something else clever little player she is she now has 15.
I love her game and she's a senior.
And somebody should be looking at her because I tell you what, she can see the floor and she's been a difference maker.
She's not camping out, but knocking down three.
She's penetrating and looks like it's like Tucker is going to go zone where they were a moment ago.
Just make Southwest kid have to run a little more clock, get in.
Good shot.
That's Martin Pull up off the bounce and a foul and you try not to stop the clock when you're on defense as well.
So today's marches go to line.
Good looking athlete.
Yes, she is Jackson's third foul.
But the thing about Southwest, the Cavs, you look at this roster, they only have one, two, three, four seniors and the rest is littered with underclassmen.
So Kathy Walton has a lot of coming back.
And like I told you up top, she told me last year, she said, if we can get five this and she won a state championship last year, they beat Milagros here and she said, if we can get back, we're going to have a nice run.
So right now they're trailing, but the kids are getting a whole lot of experience, you know, experience launching a three in the midst of this stuff.
They're going to get better and better and they're going to get Davenport right.
I don't know about that.
Most of that is number four at the seven minute mark.
I think that was a tough call there on day and rec, that rack, that play.
Here's a replay.
Let's see it.
And I don't believe in you know, they both went up in the same place and then the shorter girl just went up under.
But whatever it is, they can knock it down to ten points with two free throws.
And that's one game betting on one gate.
That daughter of David Wingate game, David played all those great teams at Georgetown under the under John Thompson.
She hovered the size of Davenport in the game, taking the gamble out of it.
They can ill afford to let her lose her this early in the fourth quarter, 58 to 38.
The cut to the lead at 1007 forward nice looks and finding underneath and getting it up and in it's Mariah Trimble.
She had six see Davenport as soon as she caught that ball turned to look towards the basket and whipped it.
And now young players pay attention to that all they're winning right now.
It's golden Gate.
She'll let it slide to hard up thing on a rebound controlled by Jackson to Jackson sister, the sister, the layup is negated, but she is hacked and she goes right into that that RIM support.
And it's our cameraman but she's okay Well not good play by southwest to camp they had the long set three looked like it was going to go there was no reason for them not to have some people back on defense then and let Tucker have the fast break.
So just a defensive breakdown by Southwest, a cab and that one's going to cost them.
Let's watch them.
Watch how quick she gets this pass and turns it loose.
Boom, right on the money.
That's just solid basketball.
There you go.
Yes, it is.
You know, I can't say enough for outstanding crew.
And of course, I said it last night.
I'll say it again.
Triumph firebrands have gone down.
John Shore.
So Steve Graham, everybody who puts this thing together, it's a labor of love for communities and Georgia.
So a lot of my family came over from Montezuma.
Each family came up from Fitzgerald and Rickey Bevington.
I want you to know what what what makes a Southerner go down and Fitzgerald and see those wild chickens that way.
That's a staple running all over the town and run over to town.
And I'll tell you what, if you hurt them, they put you in jail.
My grandfather used to always tell me about that.
I understand they had some music in the lobby last night.
Some of our technicians, pretty good musicians in that sunshine.
I'll get my harps out of the car if that's the case.
But I love my peach down here in middle Georgia.
It's always great to come back home to steal a big steal, but I definitely should run the break that story, Robin, since she's going to back out.
Heads up, one of the Jackson twins.
Wingate goes after it right in front of us.
And the ball's going to belong to Southwest.
The Cavs Great hustle here, Herb and I'll see your beautiful face right in a corner.
This could be.
And you saw this.
You saw Shawn Golden glove in front of us here at our vantage point, launching that fake basket and knocking it down.
And that is Casey Kelly.
And it's eight three.
That was a ten point game, 6 to 1 under 60 160, on to go, Kelly, with nine.
Corey Robinson fakes it three drives, blocks it up and in off flip she gets some kind of player You know tell you something I got to get I got to get a selfie watch with Tori Robinson acted like she got to get a selfie with her big win this year.
Ball game.
She is the real deal.
All the men to think that she might take that long.
Three.
And when they just lean towards her a little bit she blew mom for the layup just as smart as she can be and lets out the Grizzlies and maybe maybe we can get a selfie and put it on the world wide Web and DAVIES left.
Why would an attractive young lady want to have a selfie?
It could have ruined her dating life for the rest of it.
Listen, So good followers all over the world, man.
Okay, shoot.
I mean, I've learned my lesson.
Social networking is the way to go.
She can say it's her grandfather.
I guess I'll was her age is just a number.
Oh, yeah.
Age is just another davenport to steal over to Jackson.
Jackson to her sister.
Now to Robinson.
Milk supply.
Robinson is backing out 63 to 51 Bounce pass over to Jackson at the head of the horn to her sister.
Where are you going?
To go for the steal Now?
Now I'm going to get started spreading it out in the four corners, burning that clock.
That's Robinson in the lane bounce pass down to Davenport, fumbles with it, but gets it out to Jackson, over to Jackson, to Robinson.
And he play by the Tucker Tigers and the foul on Robinson So they I'll send Tori Robinson to the line for a little choice for southwest west camp now they've got to go physical try to get the steal maybe do some foul and hope the refs don't call it but you got to send them to the line over the next few minutes, try to get this deficit down.
Statistician Kevin Barnes told me a third on Wingate said, Oh, Sentry Robinson to the line and you don't start fouling like you do.
See at the end of the game.
Make it an obvious, but you want to go the steel plate tough defense.
See if you can let the refs, maybe let a couple of calls go by and hope you get a steal.
But Tucker, looking pretty solid right now.
Gail Robinson with 17 adds one more.
Now she has 18 with a chance to get to 19.
These two teams have met two times before and this one is for all the marbles.
The Miss by Robinson in the lead stands at 16 Jackson to the rebound There's Jackson 20 something so Jackson on the wing and drives loses the ball and is called for double dribble The turnover will go to Southwest to Cavs and coach Potter takes a timeout Herbalife losing You know I want to expound on that on what when we talked to Kathy Waldman and Commander Steve Graham brought this great point up that you know, when we talked this year, it was expected that Southwest the cap would go all the way.
And it just basically confirms what she had told me last year, Coach Walton, when she said you were young.
But I feel like if we get some experience from that championship run, which they got when they beat Miller, well, we'll be able to to continue to keep this program going.
And right now they're down in this basketball game, and that's tough to deal with.
Yeah, you've got the weight of expectations there sometimes can wear on you when everybody's expecting you to do it.
It's certainly better to to feel like you're coming out and surprise and people and steal in some games.
But I still got time for 30 is pretty good bit of time but it's 13 points.
They haven't made any headway in like the last 5 minutes.
So Tucker's done a good job of maintaining this lead and not having that psychological factor come in.
We're now they're coming back on us again like they did in the Region championship.
So Southwest have really needs a little flurry here over the next couple of minutes.
But, you know, you look at coaches, Coach Potter and and coach Walt and Angie Embry, Phyllis Arthurs, Janet Azar, you know all of them have been here and they do it the right way.
They build it up.
I heard Larry Smith talking about it in the first game today about how programs have grown from the middle school and these kids stay with, you know, the programs and the coaches.
They're able develop development.
We'll see that tomorrow night with the McEachern program.
I mean, Phyllis Arthur has done an outstanding job with them.
They continue to build their program and they'll take on Archer tomorrow night in this six eight state championship game.
That's a foul on Alexander her fourth Tucker staying in that zone on defense and southwest camp just can't find a way to penetrate Tucker's sagging back inside and packing inside daring them to shoot the jump shot right now at the four minute mark and the lead at 13 for Tucker with the basketball.
That's Robinson working her way through traffic, loses it all retained by Tucker that's Jackson and she's fouled by Martin That's Kenny Smart in her second great instincts and anticipation by Jackson there she saw the Southwest A cab player running out of bounds is going to have to throw it back in and watch this anticipation by Jackson.
Get over there.
Boom.
Nice Play.
She makes these two.
It's really going to be tough for the Panthers.
You know, we talk about that Tucker program.
I know so many great athletes like, you know, particularly with the football program I talked about three earlier, you know, and James Vaughters and Asher Allen and Thomas Brown.
It just became Thomas Francis became the running backs coach at the University of Wisconsin, leaving Marshall.
And he's, you know, the Big Ten.
It said we want we want guys to recruit in terms of speed.
And they said, we need a guy that accomplishes through the night.
They brought Thomas Brown at Tucker alone.
Now that's their 10th foul on Southwest.
The chance of Tucker to be in that bonus for the rest of the way automatic too.
And southwest a camp now panicking like the Shays have stumbled Martin stumbles gets it up and in and a try right there no good and staying right with it and getting it up and in was Martin again that stopped in eight great Tucker run Probably panic was a little strong word, but they're certainly beginning to feel the pressure about trying to cut this margin down.
But a good job there to stay on the boards and get the rebound.
Let's see it results.
All right.
Stayed with it, but unfortunately, another foul down on the other end.
Ken Tucker has been knocking them down 19 points for Jackson and that'll make it 21.
Get a look at Robin Potter.
And Robin was busy all week, conference calls and trying to get a hold over and all that.
She had a game plan going.
Really enjoyed our conference calls with all the coaches.
Oh great.
Really interesting to hear their thoughts and how they've gotten their teams to where they are through the season.
Robin has been at Tucker for 11 seasons and should they win tonight, this will be their first state championship in women's basketball.
Good.
That's about the first Tucker turnover caused by Southwest to cab in quite a while and this 13 point game.
So Panthers have to score every trip down the floor now to 55 to go.
And like I said, immediately following this game, Mark Harmon, Claire Sims talk to the stars of the Girl's five, a state championship game between Southwest to Captain Tucker.
And then we get ready for the boys and that should be a dandy with Miller, Miller Grove and Warner Robins, Jon Nelson and Sean Gold instead of Look Southwest.
The cab is not going to go away.
That's Kelly a three.
She has 12 and we have a foul on the floor.
They got Martin on Davenport and they'll send Davenport to the line.
Toni Smart and her third are we going to employ to hack Jackson, her boy?
Huh?
Well, they'll employ the hacker show in this case.
Hack Erica.
Well, here again, you're to trying to go for the steal, but you can't wait too long the foul because it's going to be a 12 point deficit.
After Erica Davenport knocks this went down and got a great stroke from the line.
I like everything about young lady plays excellently on both ends of the court.
She has 11 and as we talked about up top, she's headed down to the University of Miami in Coral Gables.
There's Martin, the miss.
You see the free throw numbers flashed on the screen for the two teams here tonight.
That's Jackson down the lane and the ball knocked out of bounds.
Now we're going to call two shot foul fouls on Martin.
And she was just so firm and she wasn't going to give up the layup, which was the right play.
Make her earn it at the free throw line, clean play with a smart play.
So this place is really filling up.
It's going to be jam packed tonight, but 70% more.
And that was definitely all in the neighborhood.
Sir Wilkinson County, represented by yesterday.
And again, one extend congratulations I said last night and I say it again so the good doctor Aaron laryngitis, one of our friends at GPB around this great state of Georgia eight of nine for Jackson from the free throw line to miss on a rebound controlled by Davenport at the two minute mark.
And it looks like right now, Herb, it's going to be a parade to the free throw line.
KELLY Oh, the foul.
And that will send Jackson to the line.
That's Kelly's first but we know the Tucker have had success over the last several years called some of their games in the championship and great to see the girls come in I actually live yeah just outside of the Tucker area over there by North lake and great people over to Matthew's cafeteria this week and see what the folks are saying.
If Tucker should win this game.
It's a great community.
You know, I remember when Sankey Stephens was over there before we went down to Lamar County.
And Brian Lamar is football coach of the latest recruit great people, great athletic administrators.
They care about the students community involvement.
And it's a it's a labor a labor of love.
Football Fridays here in the great state of Georgia.
Season number four, Football Fridays, we bring you bigger and better high school football games around the state.
In your living.
Join our sports team every Friday night.
Celebrate these great athletes and their schools on the road to the Georgia Dome Football Fridays in Georgia and the all access pass.
Three exciting hours of live high school football kicks off this fall on G TV.
And of course, the voice of Football Fridays in Georgia, Troy McDaniel, John Nelson, Mark Harmon, Jalen Johnson, great crew.
And so many people now want to also say congratulations to the team when Johnson joins the staff.
And Mark Rick as a graduate assistant on the football team working with him and Jeremy Pruitt, you've got to be happy about that here.
Jeremy Pruitt, the new defensive player.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Very excited.
And as they always are when things start out.
But let's just see if we're still excited coming into this.
I can tell you this.
I've known Jeremy for a long time.
I knew him when he was in Alabama.
In fact, you look at that tree that Joey Jones career, the University of Alabama and Dabo Swinney.
Yeah, I don't think you can go wrong getting a gal from the Nationals, all from that hall, from that tree.
And Nate from Georgia has been able to bring him aboard.
What he is going to do an outstanding job of getting to the right.
I'll hold my judgment like I'm optimistic.
But realistically, there's some other pretty good teams in the conference.
I get the picture, but they didn't get the Saban rule through.
And we're stuck right?
Nick Saban trying to change college basketball or football?
Excuse me, by the way.
That reminds me.
I think I mean, wait till tomorrow night, though.
I have a rule change that I think would be a great thing for college basketball.
Okay.
And high school basketball, too.
Yeah, I'd love to.
I'd love to hear your that.
Nobody knows the game better.
But I'll tell you, it's always a joy to spend time with you as a kid.
You're a human encyclopedia.
As I said, there was Herbalife before, there was Google and Wikipedia, and now you've got to get Twitter on the cell.
Her second little son Jackson, to like a minute 58 to go a 7259 lead for the country.
Tigers And we get things started tomorrow at 11 a.m. Jackson then shot from that free throw line tonight.
Senior took his game from the free throw line 22 for 28, 23 for 29 now.
So excellent shooting from the strike.
Jackson again runs it at the 30 and 12 of 13 from the charity stripe this afternoon 74 to 69 the lead at 15.
The biggest lead has been at 17.
She got three from the wing and missing this number, 15 diamond quarter.
And the rebound fought for and controlled by Tucker.
You know what?
Things are kind of slowing down.
It's going to get three two free throws and we're talking about free throws.
Here's something I'd like to throw out there and see what you think and maybe some other folks.
Basketball is really the only game where you have people follow.
You know, you don't have that in any other sport.
You know, they send it in the penalty box and soccer and hockey and football.
Of course you don't.
But, you know, in basketball, sometimes teams only have one really good player and it really hurts you when a guy goes out.
So here's the deal.
Once a player picks his sixth foul, if the coach decides to keep him in the game from that point on, whenever that player fouls somebody, the other team gets an extra free throw.
That way you got a little bit of strategy involved.
The coach can elect to leave the guy in the game, let him play and they get the benefit of having him in the game.
But should he found the other team gets an extra free throw.
So what do you think?
I think that considerations were very worth consideration when we put it on our Facebook page.
Tell Grayson, you know, try and get Steve Graham and Bob Bramson, John Sharrock to sign off on it and get it worldwide.
You know?
Well, I just hate, you know, so many times you lose the stars and basketball.
It's not fair to the fans, it's not fair to the player.
But you got to have a penalty.
You can't have people run around with unlimited fouls.
So make it a strategy thing for the coach.
If he thinks it's worthwhile to really get in the game.
Oh, according to her, I liked it earlier.
Like I says, I found that every game ever played in think I want to see.
I want to see the film because we weren't using videotape back then.
I was always having to guard the guy, the guys man, besides my own.
But that's that's that's not rehashed because, you know, I listened to Herb White was a good player, folks.
And don't let anybody tell you wasn't Walton on the foul and her second that'll send Davenport to the line you know we want to mention this that you know in the meetings between these two teams back on December 17th Tucker won 7364 Southwest.
The cab won the region six title game, 63 to 56 back on February 19.
And we will have a score in this one here tonight.
And it appears it's going to be going Tucker's way.
Be willing to say this is the most points scored against that Southwest cab team this year, the last from 76 points.
Like I said, they were giving up 20 points to teams in stretches this January.
But Tucker came in here confident.
They came in here with a game plan later, You know, they ran the uptempo pace.
They didn't Southwest itself a chance to set up that really tenacious halfcourt defense.
They got good looks off of the meeting, the press, and they get good looks, taking the ball off the backboard and running and that's been the difference.
Robinson at the line.
The foul was on Kelly her second and Kelly will exit stage left and in to replace her is to shake her hand Southwest the Cavs had about 20 more free field goal attempts than Tucker but shot much less much less percentage wise.
And Tucker's had really good looks at the basket all night long to leaders 18 and that's the biggest victory.
ROBINSON Torrie Robinson with 22 some rate in threes right now and not for execution and the ball will go to Tucker a minute five to go I'd say you can click the handbooks Millie Church's over there like one of my old dear friends.
He does the voices for the Voice for the Phenix Suns.
You know, when we talk about it and I'm course he always says to the old deep freeze here you see some emotion on the face of that young lady.
That's quarter emotion right there.
And culmination, a whole season down to one game and Right.
Just couldn't get it done.
The method to really hang your head.
Oh, great effort by those of us always And they'll be back.
They will be back.
And of course they came in Southwest, the Cavs with a throw and two more and had won 19 straight.
Heading into this game here today.
Tory Robinson is closing in on that.
Kelsey Clarke coming at you.
I think I may have heard it do to Kelsey with you and me.
All righty.
Okay.
2 minutes, 53 seconds to go.
Rebounds controlled by one of the Jackson twins.
You know, a lot of people say that these days, because the kids play so much youth basketball, you know, all year round that the state championships have lost something.
The kids don't care.
But go to this games over and take a look at the way these kids react.
On the losing team.
We just saw it a moment ago and watch what it means to these kids when they win a state championship where you can win all the time that you want.
But it nothing to do with community.
You know, that's what this is all about.
High school basketball, high school sports in general.
You know, a lot of people, we never lose that.
No, we won't.
You and I have something to about it.
We won't, because that's what it's about.
At the end of the day, we're playing this for communities and we're playing it for positive influence.
And positive purpose is to help kids.
That's what it's all about.
You get a good shot at tougher nation.
They've come down here in droves and they're ready to salute their young ladies.
And there goes Davenport.
What all political and was foul trouble but was able to protect herself.
She's somebody who can play and she could play guard in college, made it down to the University of Miami.
Those coaches have pretty much empty.
Their benches are down.
A total of 32 tickets to go see John Nelson and Sean Golden chomping at the bit.
I'm gonna tell them we're not moving in.
Get ready for the final game.
Well, for the next one.
And the Tucker Tigers will join Kendrick as the winner today and join greater Atlanta Christian in the want scowl at Herb White.
It's always been a joy to spend time with my mentor and somebody I have deep love and respect for who, as I've said this many times.
And there's a mount Rushmore in a statement where I'm against elastic athletes.
You will be up there.
Well, if you want to come and you want to cut me off, you take a lot of rock to do this.
Knows I don't know that I have that much left.
You can't cut me off when I want to say the truth.
Breakthrough.
I'm sorry.
Well, it's.
You know, I'm no longer with Georgia Public Broadcasting.
I'm so thrilled that they allowed me to come back and work with you again on these games.
It's it's the highlight of my year being able to come out and and be involved in these ball games and be around the kids and amenities.
And it's always a great pleasure.
Well, I want to thank you know top Arians in Tehran for that thanks to the two people I have deep love and respect for.
All right.
He left town and I retired.
They could have just let us go, but they let us come back.
We were been members of the GPB families, always, forever and ever.
8 seconds to go.
And we watched that Tucker bench, 83 to 63, the biggest lead of this basketball game enjoyed by the Tucker Tigers who are going to take their first state championship home and girls basketball.
We've had some lose some you know Wesleyan lost earlier this evening.
The team that has won a slew of state by Kendrick in the Dallas game earlier and the great effort by Kendrick to go undefeated this year.
The shades are on the line, made to make the free throw.
She is a tucker pushing the ball up the floor and struggling with it with their reserves trap.
And that's going to end the basketball game.
Let the celebration begin.
I know you said I'm telling anybody that they think it doesn't mean something to these kids.
Take a look at that.
Tucker bench, their first state championship in girls basketball, the Tucker Tigers 83 Southwest.
It had 65.
I just love the Joy man.
Davenport is just ecstatic.
What is she is but Raven Tirado right in the middle of it.
Raven who you got, Coach?
You feeling right now?
Pretty good.
Pretty good.
You got to the little.
Little more.
Really good.
Really good.
I don't think it's sunk in, to be honest.
Just the first ever state title for this girls basketball program.
What's it like to bring that home to Tucker?
I mean, it's unbelievable, really, because I think people just doubted us all year.
You know, we we really never got any write ups in the paper.
Nothing.
You know, Southwest is good.
And they always you know, they have been for some time.
So, you know, it was just it means a whole lot to come through.
And especially, you know, in this arena.
Coach, I'm I have to say, a little more for me from that crowd.
I'm pretty calm.
I'm pretty calm.
First of all, when I get back there.
Well, good.
I hope you celebrate.
Congratulations.
Thank you so much.
All right.
Again, Raven, thank you, Coach Potter.
Thank you.
Congratulations to the Tucker family.
An outstanding job they win here today over Southwest ACAD.
We'll be back with the trophy presentation and a whole lot more as we continue our coverage here and make it again.
We salute Tucker.
We'll be right back after this.
And no, no, I'm not gonna pass up.
Oh, I'm 83 to 65, Tucker, with their first state championship and of course, led by Newman Jackson 26, Troy Robinson with 21 and Mark standing by with the ladies who are champions.
Mark Harmon, It's all yours.
Thank you, Gail Tyree.
Time now to present the five girls state championship trophy.
For that, I turn the microphone over to the executive director of the GHC, Dr. Ralph Swearingen.
Thank you, Mark.
On behalf of the Georgia High School and Georgia Farm Bureau, it's my pleasure to present the state championship trophy and game ball to Tucker High School.
Congratulations, Coach Potter.
Talk about this group.
A lot of seniors on this team.
Yes, it's hard to talk about them without crying because you're right, There's a lot of seniors here.
They've worked hard for four years and achieved their ultimate goal.
You know, we always knew it was in sight and we set the goal in the beginning of the year and they fought hard the entire year and they've achieved it.
And I'm so proud of them.
All right.
Now, Jackson, you're not only the champions of DeKalb County, you're the champions of the entire state of Georgia right now.
Your emotions.
I'm I'm excited.
I'm happy.
I just don't know what to feel.
Doesn't even feel like it doesn't feel real.
So, yeah, and this one looks a lot like this.
And this is twin sister Nuba talking about being a senior going out on top.
We're really happy to win.
That's all I talked to of the center.
He had a great game today.
You've got the ball, you've got the trophy.
What's in your mind?
I'm just so overwhelmed.
I'm so proud of these ladies and I am so proud to be a part of history, our first state championship, and to do it with ladies.
I would do it any day.
I would do it all over again, just winning.
And we overcame adversity.
We overcame every obstacle.
Everyone who doubted that and said that we can we cannot get here.
We cannot win a state championship.
And we did.
And I love you so much.
All that trophy up high.
Erica, congratulations.
Raise it up.
I put it up there for everyone to see.
And Tucker, congratulations.
The first time champion the Lady Tigers of Tucker High School.
And now let's turn it over to Claire Simms with our GPB tailgate party.
Thank you so much, Mark.
And emotional group of girls.
They're very, very worthy tonight of winning that state championship.
They talked about history.
Well, history could be made in just a few minutes.
Miller Grove could become the first boys team to win six championships in a row.
Are going to have tip off of that game in just a few minutes.
But first, this tailgate party starts right now.
