georgia it's the semi-final matchup from the 5a classification where tonight the number three ranked cougars of noonan with a perfect 13-0 record we'll host the number two ranked wildcats of camden county who are also undefeated on the season good evening everybody and welcome to the broadcast booth for tonight's semi-final game on gpb charles ward alongside atlanta falcon great joe fednote and john nothing nelson will join us momentarily jeff let's jump right into this ball game semi-final matchup the camden county wildcats the number one offense in this state averaging over 45 points for ball game against the state's number one defensive team in the cougars of noonan only giving up 2.4 points for contest well it's a classic matchup and it'll be interesting to see if maybe noonan's offense can keep camden county's offense off the field so their defense isn't challenged that much by what is a very powerful offense you talk about the wildcats in camden county offensively led by greg baker greg baker is a very fine running back uh it is the delaware wing tee it's kind of interesting to watch it's power football it's a it's a version of the old single wing that comes off of that and and greg baker is averaging better than 10 yards of carry he's a great young player defensively for the wildcats of camden county a lot of help from this linebacking spot with gavin oliver gavin oliver you know he's not a big guy and this is a little bit unusual to watch a 353 i know they played a lot in high school but if you're interested in college or pro you don't see that very often you never see that but watching a young linebacker like oliver is going to be certainly keying on noonan's best the head coach of the wildcats of camden county is jeff herron he's in his ninth season we've caught up with him prior to the ball game to get his thoughts about the game plan for the wildcats tonight well you know we've got to try to find a way to move the ball which is something no one's done all year long so you know we've got some things that we hope will work and you know we have to adjust from there but they've got a great defense and defensively we can't give up big plays john they're very explosive and everybody we've seen them against on film they've come out and just drove right down the field and scored it's hard to adjust to their speed so you know we've got to try to match speed with speed and try to be as physical as we can on offense jeff the road to the championship for the cougars of noonan certainly goes to their defense but they don't have a pretty pretty good offense as well up here they do they have a very fine quarterback in the russell powell i think it's 24 touchdowns or 23 touchdowns to six interceptions that's four to one they're going to put the ball in the air tonight it'll be interesting to see if a running team like camden can uh can stop an aerial attack they'll come at you with in the air obviously while you talk about the running for camden we also have to talk about the running for the cougars and key andreas win well it it they have kiandrous guy it is a spread option attack and he's a key cog in it he averages about 10 yards to carry me also a very fine pass receiver coming out of the backfield an interesting matchup the wildcats of camden county getting set to meet the cougars of noonan head coach of the cougars of noonan is robert herring he is in his 10th season now possibly his final we caught up with him before the ball game and here are his thoughts about their game plan for tonight on defense what we're trying to do is keep them from going three and a half every down i think it's one of the few teams in america if they make three and a half yards they're satisfied so we're gonna try to stop the running game if we can offense we're just gonna try to keep the ball we're gonna try to speed up the game and do what we're doing let's run the ball and throw the ball and find the chance try to hit them on a deep route sooner or later third member of our broadcast team is john nelson john's standing by at field level nelly this is a repeat of the 003 season is it yes it is and both of these coaches in this battle of herring versus herod remember it for different reasons coach herring for noonan had a 10-3 lead at the break lost it in a four-minute span in the third quarter lost 20 to 10. jeff herron remembers every single moment of this game it was the next step for him to get that championship win down in valdosta when it comes to this particular ball game with coach heron we all and coach herring we know which one wants to flip the script as you like to say charles and which one wants just a little bit of history repeating thank you john coming up we've got the semi-final matchup will the wildcats offense lift them to the championship round or will the cougar defense lead them into the georgia dome stick around the answers just ahead on gpb from the gridiron to the hardwood every week on georgia outdoors tuesday at 7 30 on georgia public broadcasting this is georgia public broadcasting your pbs station live at drake stadium for the semifinal matchup featuring the wildcats of camden county being hosted by the kunis cougars of noonan high school both teams undefeated as we go into the semifinal matchup the winner of this ball game advances to the championship contest next weekend in the georgia dome they will meet either the grayson rams or the peach tree ridge lion so a lot of stake in this ball game for both teams toss has already been conducted here at drake stadium and the toss was won by the wildcats of camden county they deferred so they will have the football to start the second half of this contest it will be the home team the new cougars of noonan who started out on offense after the kick gets away here from drake stadium glad you could join us on gpb [Music] cougars i've never won a state final here in the state of georgia wildcats of camden county heard john nelson allude to it in the pre-game show winners of the old three state title he's kicking it away for the wildcats sorry jeff would be matt e has to get us going i'm just saying i think camden county is a regular semi-final play they own that region uh down around saint mary's and kingsville he has angles at the left side will be filled with short side of the field and up the gut with the return is alan bonner connor got it up to the 30-yard line and that is where the cougars of noonan will start this football game offensively cougars led by quarterback russell powell the senior and there you see powell coming on to the football field as a starter over the last two years 24-2 for the left-handed single caller on the season over 2 000 yards in the air and 23 touchdowns for powell we'll get the rest of that offense as this first series develops for the cougars bonner in motion mishandled on the snap powell tries to fall on it wildcats converge on it did they get it yes officials confer and agree that the wildcats of camden county come away with the turnover so early mistake there jeff by the cougar offense perhaps nerves playing into it well probably that it is a you know it's a huge game as you mentioned coming into it he had to bonner in motion it looked like he was going to do a reverse pivot and maybe come around to bonner and maybe took his eye off the snap a little bit not a real bad snap but it was up around his shoulders we saw that last weekend here at drake stadium starting out on the ball game with heavy rains where powell brought the initial snap but there here in the semifinals gives it over to the wildcats of camden county led by christian milstead misdirection whistles at the line of scrimmage first flag of the semifinal matchup and the call going against the cougars of noonan offsides rusty when the head referee for tonight's ball game after the assessment is first in five for camden county they are at the 24-yard line of the cougars they have the football after the turnover on the ground they give it straight ahead looks like valdez on the carry 4 camden county and he got it up near the 20-yard line you know you expect i think a team traveling maybe to be a little bit more nervous coming into noonan they have the bigger crowd here noonan's starting out though just a little bit tight in the early going offensively and defensively second down and one for camden county on the ground they keep it on the inside trap plate got enough for the first down not a whole lot more than that williams on the carry for camden county and got enough for the real first i think is uh how your linebackers will play because there is so much misdirection and deception in the ball handling of who's going to get the ball a lot of movement too from the two wing backs coming around in different formations and you really have to key on where that ball is going to be handed off getting the play at the line of scrimmage [Music] they give it on the inside back play found near the 10-yard line carried by audrey johnson for the wildcats six yards to the 10-yard line it's a great block at time out of this tight end 81 zac griffis working against the defensive end uh russell logged him inside big hole outside of it while cats up front simmer we'll go back to them with the receivers and backs now griffith's a tight end just a little alluded to him murphy days and baker and his receiver and running back court valdez at the full back spot he's joined in the backfield by greg baker we highlighted him in the pre-game show on the ground carry by johnson once again and johnson works down near the seven yard line [Music] noon and defensively up front it's hill russell and carter and carter getting some playing time goes to the broken leg of breeland jeter find back in court cooper ogletree russell koran and strike for cozy one of the best in the state and the secondary has only given up one touchdown pass the entire season [Applause] misdirection they go back to the inside banging toward the end zone but knocked down near the two yard line williams on the carry once again stop made by dicks for the cougars daryl williams coming off the bench for the wildcats early in this ball game had 61 carries coming into tonight's contest with over 290 yards his cred four touchdowns but running hard in initial stages of this football game first and goal to go from the two now on the ground johnson with the football got it to about the half yard mark [Music] so a lot of weapons for that wildcat offense jeff and we've seen a lot of mix mixing it up already charles it looks like they're running exclusively left so far behind nick seamer the senior and robert gabriel the junior not two other bigger linemans back to their of the of their average side of linemen uh only uh 200 pound guys and they're having some success over there on that left side second and goal to go wildcats up against the number one defense in the state trying to punch one in but at the line of scrimmage cougars converge nicely on that play and they shut it down stepped up you notice the very first couple of plays of this drive and they're a little bit out in the field around the 30 and the 20 linebackers playing off and they're only a three-man line good spacing there's them some natural holes to run in there right now they walk those linebackers up and they're stiffening up on defense third and goal to go from the two now for the wildcats under center works at the left side nothing doing stuffed again by that cougar defense that's russell number six knifing in from that right defensive end spot he undercuts him brings him down right in his tracks probably a loss of maybe a half a yard or so is greg baker on the carry but baker with nowhere to go excellent surge up front by the cougars now fourth down and goal to go this time from the three-yard line and that cougar defense hold to make up for the turnover by the offense bill steve will give it on the inside angling back to the inside touchdown for the wildcats williams carried in carried it in for camden county left side jeff that's what they found a hole over there they worked it throughout that series and they punch it in for six yeah this is just like a little bit of the old eye lead but it's out of a power formation the full back valdez leading through the hole and as you said right on the left side again they seem to feel comfortable running against the right side early on of newton's defensive line so the wildcats strike first in this semi-final match-up matt ehis now on to try to point after 44 of 49 on the season and extra points attempts by he has this one he's got an airborne flat kick and he drives it through though so they're all caps of camden county strike first they lead at seven nothing seven minutes 19 seconds left first quarter turnover a gift by the cougars gave him a short field and this is what newton one of the things they do very well obviously their their defense only giving up two and a half points a game or 2.4 on the year eight shutouts six consecutive shutouts not going to be a shutout tonight camden did what it was supposed to do they converted the turnover into a touchdown seven nothing lead for the wildcats with camden county quicktime out back with more broadcast of this program is made possible in part by the georgia high school association the ghsa would like to thank dodge for their support of high school sports programming on georgia public broadcasting dodge dealerships across georgia are pleased to bring you the excitement of ghsa state championship action dodge salutes the hard work community spirit and dedication of high school students in sports and activities dodge encourages everyone to grab life with the ghsa and gpb back live at drake stadium wildcats of camden county with an early 7-0 lead over the host team the cougars of noonan noonan coughed it up on their first possession of the football game short field for the wildcats to work with daryl williams taking it in from three yards away as the wildcats lead at seven nothing cougars getting set to go back on offense [Applause] or correct matthew has to kick it away now for the wildcats short kick and we fill it over shoulder and fumbled by alexander ogletree over he picks it up and scrambles left side got it up to about the 21-yard line and the cougars going back on offense but some difficulty handling that exchange on the kick there jeff well not the miscommunication i i did not catch a deep man i think the very first time was number 45 for noonan but they didn't communicate it's very difficult for uh for oakland tree to take that over the shoulder kickoff return they're very lucky they're very fortunate nine play scoring drive for the wildcats of camden county to give them the early seven nothing lead cougars back on offense now they go on the inside with the five players andrea's win on the carry four noonan and win with about six on the play lineup for the cougars up front vickers ross alford and buchanan in the center for the cube cougars wide out as johnson bonner houston and thompson the tight end keandra's win just on the carry he's in running back and of course the quarterback is the senior russell powell second down and six [Applause] snap the powell throw out the flats bonner with the catch looking for the sideline nicely defended by that wildcat defense you said transition defense not a very big defense of the team talking about uh camden county defense for the wildcats jackson myers and booth up front for the wildcats the linebacker williams oliver and booth making up that three the defense they go three five three or three three five williams johnson coleman green and flowers the secondary for the wildcats of camden county wildcat defense only giving up 8.7 points per ball game itself powell getting pressure and they sack him near the 13-yard line [Applause] booth on the sack for camden county well they brought the middle linebacker that time the three-man line but ty booth their middle linebacker who made the uh key and on the quarterback on the very first play of this series this time he comes up the middle and they don't pick him up between the center and guard gap and he goes free markers myers is on that stop as well for the wildcats of camden county so fourth down now cougars will have to punt it away wildcats coming at it but the kick by taylor fair catch called for near the 37-yard line by the wildcats fair catch by michael green [Music] and again a short field for the wildcats of cameron to work with on the 25-yard punt for sam taylor well you're depending on your defense right now you're right two short fields you put a lot of pressure on them can they get a stop here that's uh right allow noonan to gather itself a little bit offensively it's just not operating like it used it wants to and it usually has kristen wilstead facing the first and ten on the ground and gives it to johnson johnson got it up near the 35-yard line pickup of about three offense over 44 000 yards on the season over 590 points and averaging over 45 points per ball game and that's powerful yeah i just broke down a little bit of the regular season almost 300 yards a game rushing and uh you know they right now they've been hitting in the middle and then to the left side of that camden offensive line bill's dead will give it and the stop made good defensive work carried by jeremiah mobley for the wildcats russell from his linebacking spot with the stop for the cougars that replay you see it there jeff leland russell a good pursuit to take him down in the backfield well this time it's a student body right almost they're they're slanting all their offensive linemen to reach to the right the first time they've run right tonight they don't get the reach block on leland russell he goes free and gets the loss we're under four minutes remaining in this first quarter third down and 11 for the wildcats of camp kemden county they're at the 39-yard line of the cougars bilstein's going to throw it got a man in the flats catches made by the angelo smith smith down near the 24-yard line and that's enough for the camden county first down there it's just a two out pattern they brought us green all the way across the field all of that play action in the back the running they've been doing it holds the secondary it holds the linebackers a little bit of a crease in there nice catch nice completion so first down from the 24-yard line now of the cougars and this execution by milstead to the receiver baker in motion they'll pitch it that way left side silver one with the tackler but runs into some trouble after that nailed behind the line of scrimmage good defensive work yeah it's great penetration and time ogletree number 33. they're trying to block him by pulling the tackle seamer a little toss play very well executed as far as the toss but great penetration by ogletree knocks that play down orlando with some hope on that play as well take a look at his numbers on the season [Music] they run it on the inside carry by greg baker the senior running back i thank her with a pickup of about two on it very clever though uh a handoff to eon days coming left to right he hands back to baker going right to left a little cross buck almost between the two uh running backs very nicely done not just all of that jeff i don't see anything oh you know this is a very intricate offense it's fun to watch it if you like some of the old misdirection of the single wing third down and eight they come back they're gonna go to pass this time milstein trying to go up behind the coverage got a man in the end zone the past overthrown angelo smith in the end zone but double covered by the cougar secondary good defensive work that will force a fourth down well very nicely done by the big safety oval tree six foot three he's a deep middle and looks like they both have man for man dix is back there with him the other safety good coverage tough completion to make so fourth down and eight from the 22-yard line now shotgun is a set for mill said in the wildcats with the snap rolling right raises fire squaring with the catch nicely done and fighting toward the end zone is michael green and he lost the football but it's picked up in the air by smith and smith carries it in for the wildcats recovered by number five for camden county did not think that uh camden county had much of a passing attack coming into this game he's thrown the ball talk about milstead very nice this is a very nice completion and a great effort by smith but maybe too much of an effort when the fumble's caused but somebody is there and actually smith smith take it in jeff very nicely done way to be alert tip grill working for the receivers for the wildcats of camden county he has on with the point after sidewinder by he has and this one he misses left side [Applause] wildcats extend their lead though 13 to nothing as you take a look at this play milstead as you indicate jeff with a nice pass here catch was initially made there by michael green and green just at the end zone that ball pops up and johnny on the spot is the angelo smith with a touchdown you know these are the two receivers they're only two receivers out and so they're leaving a lot of people in to protect but this is a nice job of finding a little hole in the zone and then it's good maybe even be just standing around and you don't have to help it daryl smith with a big touchdown two short fields two touchdowns to a team that's only given up 33 points throughout this season noonan has got to feel the brunt of that right sure gotta be reeling at this point so sometimes it's good to be right there in the right spot smith with the touchdown grab and the wildcats lead it now 13 to nothing cougars offensively have fumbled on the first possession and a three-in-one on the second gotta get something going coach herring got to be very concerned at this point you do not want these wildcats to get too much separation negative plays you've got to eliminate those obviously the fumble the turnover is one even the sack though they got the sack on the in the second series to get the three and out those are negative plays and you try to eliminate them as much as possible from your offense even the penalty they had a penalty to start off with all of those are they set you back a little bit christopher robinson standing deeply received the kick will catch it near the 13 works his way up near the 30-yard line [Music] [Music] [Applause] i would think you got to get the ball a little bit more in the hands of the kiandros win that guy yeah that guy that guy very good very good to see just he's got a nice size offensive line does it be no the fellas going to georgia check it right tackle run behind him a little bit howe looking downfield fires across the middle and turning for his favorite target honor but the pass broken up good defensive work by michael green the senior for camden county got there just as the pass got there uh nicely done by michael green total plays at this point camden county almost doubling the output of noonan 17-9 at this point got a shot at the assistant coaches signaling in the plays from the moon and sideline and that's where powell picks them up screen passer trying to set it nicely done when with the football went up past the 35 near the 36-yard line jeff they're trying to get it into his hands with some open field well the perfect play to have against the blitz that time they brought to ty booth and and glenn mack 21 another linebacker so the russian five you got the screen called maybe needed just a little bit more out of that um nicely picked up a first down third and a respectable three here for the cougars though from their own 36. sly roll left side he's a lefty now looking gonna turn it back the other way right side's got some room but elects to go back up in the middle and runs into the wildcat defense so another negative play by the cougars there will force a punt as gavin oliver we highlighted him in the pre-game show comes away with the stop for camden county that's very fine defense by camden county pulling it to the left you sort of shorten the field that you have to work with only the hash marks out maybe in the excellent downfield coverage all they were all over uh johnson and thompson a tight end and a wide receiver on this side of the field worth of sack on the season for oliver now sam taylor set the punt of the way taylor gets a good kick away green makes the overshoot to catch at the 38 got some room at the short side of the field bounced out of bounds looks like he's going to be bounced out of bounds near the 47-yard line inside of cougar territory and a flag coming in at the tail end of that play late took place just in front of the wildcat bench personal foul being called by rusty nguyen against the cougars so second penalty of the ball game for the cougars boy there really puts the wildcats in good field position a rusty win leading this officiating crew with umpire off don lyles lines he's through with mine judge jim ball back judge bobby colson bill judges arthur smith and we will see fulfilled [Applause] so first and ten now for camden county the offense has had the pleasure of working on the cougar side of the field all game long we're under a minute remaining in this first quarter and dancing back to the inside with the carry streaking toward the end zone easy touchdown by ian daves for the wildcats of camden county [Music] days comes into this game just the second leading rusher baker the featured back but it's just a nice little handoff up the middle well blocked by that front of keegan mclean josh delhi and robert gabriel they're inside three take a look at the replay after he gets to that second level or in the secondary just a couple of nice moves by ian and it's to the end zone for camden county the wildcats threatening to break it wide open here at drake stadium he had with the point after missed on the previous and this time he drives it through so it is a 20 to nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county who have scored every time they've had their hands on the football exploring drive this is an easy one to steal one play 31 yards and less than 10 seconds to do it ian days from 31 yards away for camden county this one build across the state as number one offense versus the number one defense but we're really not having a chance to get into the essence of that jeff because we've seen so much stuff happening well you're playing with the short field camden county's doing what they're supposed to do with it you know they're taking advantage of it and noonan on the other hand uh just can't get its defense on track just yet to slow down this running attack and get him into a position well they did they had him in the position fourth and long that's where the touchdown came up on that last series but uh you've got to do it somewhat with your offense newman's offense needs to come alive on this series minus 19 yards at this point to your point two sacks and a fumble in the three series uh it's just hard to operate offensively when when you're not getting that efficiency amber county with 68 yards of total offense 24 points and 68 yards d'angelo smith will kick it away for the wildcats high short kick by smith it will be filled up by robinson robinson working right side got it up to the 30. falls ahead near the 31 perhaps the 32-yard line streak that's a school record previous record of 11 straight wins back in the 92 season currently with a 14 straight wins in terms of home games here at great stadium but that one in jeopardy here now as the wildcats take an early 20 to nothing lead [Music] powell going under center this trip on the ground wind fighting hard right side lunges near the 35 yard line come to the end of this first quarter it's the camden county wildcats dominating it they lead it 20 to nothing over the cougars of noon and we'll step aside for a time out more with batmore with the semifinal match up here from drake stadium after this [Music] he preached by the shores of the sea is georgia public broadcasting your pbs station back live at drake stadium as we go into the second quarter 20 to nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county over the cougars of noonan one play has elapsed on this drive starting this second quarter for the cougars as an attempted pass to the tight end zach thompson up near the 40-yard line but thompson took his eye off it and pass goes incomplete that'll make it the second down cougars took a timeout after the drop pass by thompson no doubt just trying to get themselves settled a bit here jeff well a big third down third and seven i guess in in this situation he wanted to go deep he had houston deep he had zach thompson short and uh very well covered by houston by the secondary of camden he goes to thompson short he should have come up with this ball i mean it's a he has to reach back a little bit behind him he's a big tall fella uh it would have been a big completion i think not a first down but close to it i'll make it third down and seven instead wildcats put it back to the football field after the timeout taken by the cougars third and seven for noonan shotgun powell gives it to win win up the middle pass the 45 up to the 46-yard line that's a first down for the cougars very nicely done charles toss turn him up a little bit here by running an inside trap left guard pulling left to right he knocks out booth the inside linebacker who's blitzing off the edge big hole over that right side so when with the first down pickup from the 46 first and ten for the cougars now quick pitch left side when looking for a block at the corner powers his head down and fights near midfield pickup of about three for the cougar running back they have three yards on the play 49 yard line [Music] [Applause] coleman the linebacker in on the stop for the wildcats second this looks like about every defensive play every offensive play by noonan one of the inside linebackers either booth or gavin oliver they're running through either a run through thinking it's either a pass or a run on the ground win lights it past midfield he lost a football somewhere in there near the 48-yard line wildcats come away saying that they have it and the officials will give the football over to the wildcats so another turnover by that cougar offense this one near midfield and the wildcats back onto the field very uncharacteristic of noonan noonan is uh we talked about camden's offensive firepower noonan has a lot of their own glenn mack coming away with a fumble recovery for coach jeff harren and the wildcats of camden county they got to be happy about what they've seen so far they take it over first and ten from their own 49-yard line on the ground a direct snap straight ahead inside of wildcat territory to the 43. carry by daniel valdez for the wildcats on the stop for newman doesn't carry the ball a lot for camden county number six danny valdez 581.70 but 189 excuse me still averages six yards every time he gets it more of a blocker for them had a touchdown in the quarter-final game last weekend for the wildcats and they'll win over woodstock second down and two milstead calling the signals under the center of this trip on the ground on the misdirection of comeback left side but nothing doing cougars with a good defensive stand adam strikeos on the stop four noonan yeah nice job by russell number seven russell the linebacker not the defensive end for that would be leland russell does a good job of filling the hole refused to be blocked scores from around the state semifinals grayson and peachtree ridge in the second quarter all tied at seven a piece whenever this ball game gets the winner of that one semifinals from the foray it's tucker leading griffin 14 to nothing that ball game in the second quarter as well [Applause] third down play now and keeping the football is milstead right side short of the first down marker straikos on the stop once again for the cougars billsted looking for a block strike goes from his linebacking spot covering that hole fairly well for the cougars for the nice stiff hit on milstead well excellent by oval tree the outside linebacker coming in and taking out some of the the blocking and allowing straight goes to scrape that's the second time the third time he called his name tonight for in on a tackle rome leading marist 14 to nothing another semi-final ball game and it's beaufort over fitzgerald in the second quarter 14-7 we'll be keeping the update all night long on these contests as we get set for championship action next week from the georgia dome before that play got off the ground a timeout was taken by the wildcats of camden county it's good it would have been successful nice little step around by milstead on a quarterback sneaky like you stepped all the way around maybe outside the guard almost to the tackle spot [Music] so coach jeff herron and the offense take a breather with the timeout they lead it 20 to nothing 856 remains in this first half two teams of both teams with two timeouts remaining before the intermission you can show your support for high school sports programming by becoming a member of gpb simply by calling one of the numbers on your screen or visit our website at gpb.org and thank you very much for supporting georgia public broadcasting [Applause] [Music] what do you think charles you run it again the quarterback snake you felt like you were successful you had a chance to see it right yeah it worked okay less than a yard we'll stay the line lines up under center they'll go left side this time but this time milstead keeps it and pulls it out of the belly of the full back and that little second effort was enough to get the first down so a nice read on the wing t offense by the senior quarterback there to make that work for the first half excellent job the read was the key because they were keying on andre russell especially dustin russell he was all over andre russell the fullback and a nice job of reading it and taking it out for the first on the ground they'll go right side with the carry its days hayes making that second wave on the second level of the cougar defense pickup of about four perhaps a little bit of a power o pulling your backside guard robert gabriel 73 nice size lad at 511 206 leading through the hole [Applause] johnson for the wildcats aaa scores in the first quarter no score between pero and carver columbus another aaa score first quarter action no score flowery branch and lagrange all these scores coming to you all right score atl.com timeout taken on the field by the officials with 8 minutes 12 seconds left first half 20 nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county over the cougars let's take a quick timeout we'll be back with more from drake stadium semifinal football on gpb [Music] broadcast of this program is made possible in part by the georgia high school association the ghsa would like to thank state farm for their support of high school sports programming on gpb state farm agents are proud of the achievements of georgia's student athletes and would like to remind families and teens to drive safely in your communities as you travel to work school or play state farm wants what you want safe driving for you and your family first and ten for the wildcats of camden county they are down at the 28-yard line of the cougars of noonan trying to build on their 20 to nothing lead in the semi-final ball game the winner of this contest will meet the rams of grayson or the lions of peachtree ridge who are engaged in a good semi-final battle that one taking place at peachtree ridge 7-7 score in that contest our last report showing you here as we track all these scores from around the state in the semi-final round fifth semi-final appearance for the wildcats of camden county in the last seven years of course they won that state title in 0-3 14th region championship this year for camden county they're eighth consecutive well they they execute this offense uh very very efficiently no penalties you don't get holding you don't get movement especially here in foreign stadium they're doing a great job with their execution of their offense [Applause] we'll give it in the belly of the fullback and may have eat the head for a yard cougars played that well every drive is a four down drive for them they've already gone for it at least twice on fourth down and been successful so you're gonna have to stop them four downs uh they don't look like they're interested in field goals second down at eight milstead with the play fake pressure by the cougars they get the sack on and near the 33. dustin russell the senior linebacker leading the surge for the cougars of noonan to get the sack you know that's a good job downfield coverage it looks like dicks down there covering uh baker coming out of the backfield and also the big tight end was well covered uh zach griffin down the field and uh i'm sorry maybe this pedalway the senior off the side on the season russell solo typos 47 assists 35 7 tackles the losses and four sacks for the senior linebacker third down and 13 now for the wildcats high snap it's a direct snap going to only 32. days got it past the initial line of scrimmage but well short of the first down marker [Music] will karan on the stop before noon four yards on the play i'll make it fourth and with a nine point lead and all the momentum in the world no reason to believe that the wildcats won't be going forth or they take a timeout first to talk about it and they do well you got to have a lot of confidence in what you're doing but this can build some confidence for noonan indeed get this stop here another short field of working with and hold the dyke right here don't let don't let them convert and get the ball back for your football team give some confidence to what you're trying to do out there six minutes 11 seconds left in this first half coaching staff camden county taking a look at jeff harren that's one time hour remaining for them in this first half john nelson at field level nelly thank you charles key injury updates for noon and two defensively leland russell 7 and 31 anthony krueger from the linebacking court both are working on bad ankles injury at note also for russell powell the quarterback he's dealing with a bad non-throwing thumb he hurt that first play so injuries are bound for the cougars in this first half and linebacking four is one of the best in the state with the absence of cougar and russell thus far depending on whether they can come back or not that will be a real blow for the cougar defense fourth down and a full 10 for the wildcat first down they'll go for it here from the 29 yard line [Applause] shotgun for milstead and gives it on the comeback today's days looking for room won't find any in the cougar defense as hell a very nice job by noonan's defense that time straikos 51 is in on that play uh 31 kroger is in there also staying at home that's a counter play a lot of motion across here heavy three receivers to the wide side of the field handed back trying to get the counter play to work nice job by staying at home that you're supposed to do with your defense so recruiter defense giving the fans here at great stadium the faithful sport loon and something to cheer about quickly powell going out in the flats pass gonna be caught by houston but he's nailed in his tracks right at the line of scrimmage forward progress will give him about three on the catch as michael green made the stop for camden county hurry up offense here [Applause] second down and six from the 33 keeper by powell powell up past the 42-43 yard line nicely done on the ball and that's a first down from it i've seen a little bit of the option now getting to the edge a little bit been a tough road for luna trying to get up the middle with their fine tail back wind and uh now they're getting to the edge now first and ten come to 43. throws it over the top pass goes incomplete just trying to get it in the hands of ej houston just past the line of scrimmage catchable ball but it goes incomplete a very quick decision though by pal he wanted looking for him all the way and uh well covered by the inside linebacker gavin oliver we talked about the pregame total yards as far camden county 140 to just 21 for the cougars second down and ten flags coming in at the line of scrimmage left tackle moved a little bit early three minutes second penalty tonight on noonan really hurts your offensive continuity coach robert herring his tenth season at noon and slow start for his cougars tonight over 300 wins and colleges in the alabama hall of fame mississippi state guy looking to become one of an elite group of coaches to win state titles in three southern states a lot of work ahead of for his cougars tonight that pass goes incomplete powell was going up field for houston who broke his route off at near midfield that one was incomplete 2a update from semifinals it's calhoun leading brooks county 10 to 7 that ball game in the second quarter and buford extending its lead on fitzgerald in the second they lead it now 24-7 these scores of the rest of them you'll be getting throughout the night compliments of score atl yellow jackets of calhoun and the trojans and brooks county engaged in a good one at the double a level shotgun for powell now looking now backside pressure to get a sack on sacked by markavis arcavious meyers for the wildcats and that's really a coverage sack because it's good work by that secondary of camden county excellent work uh robert williams the inside linebacker man for men coverage on win looked like he was looking for him late and then try to pull it down and maybe pick up some yardage but the protection broke out so fourth down and 15 that will force a punch by sam taylor and the cougars under five minutes remaining good kick by taylor faircatch called for and made near the 27 yard line by michael green for the so the wildcats for the cougars out of that situation jeff is that they are able to move the football game a couple of first downs and at least force that wildcat offense to start the drive on their side of the field you're right charles and this might be their worst field position of the first half being on the 27 yard line 28 yard line quad scores tucker building on the lead over griffin 21 to nothing that one going into the second quarter so the tigers trying to extend themselves with the bears another 4-8 score for jerome leading marist 14-7 and that ball game is in the second quarter as well semi appearance for the wolves of rome surprisingly over the war eagles of marist on the ground right side and stays fertile cats working his way up near the 31-yard line for camden county cougars carter nice job by the nose guard that time uh carter 95 we're pulling both of their guards this time gabriel the backside kelly on the front side and he's able to slip around the single block of the center keegan mclean key to a 34 is how your nose guard plays and a lot of times how your center plays on your nose lawrence carter getting into that lineup for the cougars after the end leader braylon eat jeter early in the season vegeta went out with a broken leg and carter has filled in nicely for the crew getting it second down at seven on the ground strikes hitting the plate up the middle close to the 37-yard line carried by audra johnson for the camden county wildcats he's aptly named for a couple of great pro carters reuben carter from miami played for denver and then there was a michael carter it was an olympic shot put played for the san francisco 49ers both stocky six foot almost 285 to 300 pound kind of guys michael carter not quite that big but very good name in the nose guard pass six feet 245 pounds third down and two on the ground it's johnson johnson at that stick looks like he's got enough for the first down marker but it'll depend on where the officials put him down just shy of the 40-yard line that's more than enough for the wildcat first tougher sledding though they're meeting that power lead play or they lead either with the valdez if he's in there or andre johnson when he's in there the nice job the linebackers are coming up and meeting that play a little bit better right now real estate under center days coming with the inside handoff works it to the 43-yard line flag coming in at the tail end of that play nina's walking backwards a lot of penetration that time off the edge alexander ogletree able to wrap him up his legs and slow him down but lunan's walking backwards as if this might be called on them assessment coming against the cougars of noonan personal foul trying to work the official just in front of him with an assessment going against his guys cougar defense only 31 points allowed before tonight's ball game and right now before the half they've already given up 20 in this contest against the state's number one offense where you can see why they are the number one offense on the ground it's green or williams angling back to the inside and williams to the 40-yard line [Music] that certainly had an effect first half play that's fourth penalty i think on noonan second personal foul giving them that extra yard is just not a team you want to give extra yardage to or extra downs sure they do all that on their own two minutes 20 seconds clock running here at drake stadium before the intermission second down and eight for the wildcats they give it the days days back to the inside with penetration at time by hill and also by uh i don't know 52 little correct ran the linebacker penetration is the one bugaboo for all offenses it just throws the timing out of whack you don't have to make the the penalty but you might make somebody change direction in the back room because of where you are with penetration third down and six for camden county down at the 38 of the cougars bilstead going up top got a man speaking toward the end zone pass goes incomplete near the two-yard line defensive coverage by jamal ramsby and it was intended down field for d'angelo smith i'm not real sure if ramsby actually tipped that ball at all jeff but he did cause a distraction smith taking his eyes off it but we'll take a look at the replay it's a well-thrown ball i mean it's right there and uh 5-8 155 deangelo gets up and i think more than anything you're right he might have distracted him the ball goes through his hands but a very well thrown ball and a nice defensive play by maybe being up in the air distracted you gotta know that the wildcat coaching staff senses that that play would have worked have the catch made there so we'll probably stick that in the middle rolodex and come back to it at some point tony blatts now the seniors set the punt of the way for the wildcats this is this first offering of the football game got to be a fake come on [Music] able to get it away and it will take a decided camden county role near the five yard line so everything rolling right for the wildcats thus far on the must nap their 33-yard kick via the roll for tony blatts and the wildcats will pin the wild cougars down from their five with a minute 18 remaining first half well it went strategic you know they got the inside punch inside the five and gonna play defense wants to get a stop here another short field uh that's his plan unusual for him not to go on fourth down though especially on that side of the field maybe felt it was too hard to convert first in 10 for powell and the cougars they will keep it on the ground when has his neck legs knocked him near the six yard line coleman in on the stop for camden county got real low that time put the hit on keandra's win you got to ensure that outside he came off the edge and before that play has a chance to develop he's back there around his legs second down and nine less than a minute remaining in this first half powell with shotgun is the set looks to his left fires in the flats bonner with his first catch of the night out of bounds near the 14-yard line [Music] you know they say he didn't knock it out of bounds but the clock continuing to run here at drake well it's a difficult throw it's on the far hash mark our close hash mark over here left-handed he's getting it out on a just a little bit of a flat pattern obama's first catch he has 46 catches coming into tonight's game he is their leading receiver very difficult throw nicely executed so third down and three for the cougars clock running here and likely they won't get this play [Music] [Applause] they off not so they elect to leave it right where it is at the halftime it is a 20 to nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county over the cougars of noonan we'll step aside but before we go down let's go down field level uh john nelson standing by nelly here we go coach talk about that turnover turn kind of tilted the field for you and got you the momentum you needed well we talked about it all week noonan was a very fast starting team and you know we kind of had the reverse happen to us last week so we were very fortunate to get that and you know got good field position and it kind of set over the whole half and the running game took over to get you those other scores pass helped out too well we hadn't hit enough of those we got lucky on the one down there but uh you know we're trying to play like we always do and so far it's worked all right coach thanks for your time jeff herron's got a 20-point lead after the first 24 minutes thank you you'll be happy with that coming up at the halftime it's the marching wildcat band from camden county and a lot more stay with us 20 nothing lead for the wildcats at the international from the gridiron to the hardwood from the bullpen to the back nine join me john nelson each week as we showcase the finest county high school marching wildcat band over 200 members directed by alan smith drum majors are benjamin anklem and megan unger tonight's performance is a tribute to michael jackson featuring selections of thriller billie jean and beat it so let's go down we can't beat that let's take a listen [Music] [Music] them [Music] so [Music] [Applause] um wow [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh [Music] [Applause] wow [Music] wildcat band but still performing here at drake stadium john nelson standing by with director alan smith nelly thank you charles and i guess alan is this the band equivalent of a pop quiz this is not the normal routine but you broke this out almost like a coach getting ready for another game talk about this absolutely uh we've been doing la nuba uh music from cirque du soleil uh for our competition show and we've been working on that for quite some time so we decided to do something a little different we thought it was fun and uh dressed up one of the kids that you saw as michael jackson and uh kids had a blast so uh just trying something new so when you come up with this idea i guess what were the ideas on the table or was this something that you had in your hip pocket how did this come about actually it's funny that you would ask i thought about thrilla last year and as we got closer to getting to the end of our old show i thought the thriller and a whole michael jackson show would be perfect for this occasion so when you're putting something like this together on a normal week almost like a coach getting ready for a game you're talking six days talk about the process of putting something like this together oh gosh it's very difficult the kids have to learn the music first of all we started with the music uh probably a few weeks ago and then of course the routine part of it we took about a couple days to do that and then put it all together from there alan smith thanks for your time thank you go get warm charles maybe you're warm yeah we are and so are the wildcats of camden county they laid at 20 to nothing at their intermission quick timeout back with more from direct stadium semifinal action on gpb hi everybody i'm andy williams it's the most wonderful time of the year and if the most wonderful time of the year nothing over the third ranked team in the cougars of noonan mcnoonan coming in as a number one ranked defense in the state and uh having things handed to him by the wildcats thus far but at the break it is the marching catch band of noonan high school performing directed by john erdogan and josh roberts drum majors are elizabeth dorell and morgan stevens with 140 band members tonight's performance entitled locomotion let's go down and take a listen [Music] [Music] so [Music] ah [Music] [Music] oh oh [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] yep [Music] marching cats continue their performance here at drake stadium we'll go down field level with john nelson standing by with the director nelly thank you here with john eldawan band director of the noonan high school band and i want to talk about locomotion here the the routine that you're seeing behind us and have seen and it is complete daryl if you would please with a legitimate train whistle it has gone off twice it will go off once more during this routine how did you come up with this idea to blow people's ears out with a great horn section and a legit train whistle well we just got the idea back in the spring uh one of my staff members came in with the idea of doing this music by a ranger in california his name is keep ulon and this is all original music it's based on a train thing and i had a parent come in with a train whistle and we said we would put it in the show so we got three train blasts from the legitimate train whistle so when it comes to a routine like this how did the kids warm up to you know this is something that's in your ipod or a normal piece of music but how did they take to it we actually were a little hesitant about it because we just didn't know how would they react to it and uh you know like two years ago we did queen and it was real real uh crowd pleaser and then we did lion king last year and so we just didn't know how they would they'd react to the variety and show but they really ended up loving the music it's got a lot of energy a lot of drive and it's just been very you know successful for us we had a lot of fun with it and at the same time you guys are going to be putting on the miles you're heading to a parade in january you got the gator ball you're busy next month yeah we're going to be doing gator ball down in jacksonville florida for the first time i think we have clemson and arkansas i think it's just been announced and uh we've done i think about all the bowls now we've done the tournament of roses um fiesta bowl orange bowls sugar bowl now we're looking at the gator bowl so we're excited about it another one thanks for your time go get warm let's send it back upstairs to charles and jeff thank you john great performance by the marching cap band here at drake stadium 20 to nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county over the cougars of newnan almost set to start the third quarter here from drake stadium wildcats with a great performance in that first half and some of the highlights from that first half obviously most of this favoring the wildcats they did the scoring in the first half and they started it off after this fumble by the cougars on their first possession of the ball game russell powell coughed it up for the cougars and the wildcats take full advantage of it after a three-yard touchdown run by daryl williams our first score of the ball game and take a look at this now michael green on the catch for the wildcats spinning down near the one lost the football but there johnny on the spot is deangelo smith with the recovery for the touchdown and ian days from 31 yards away in the touchdown run and that's where we stand at the intermission 20 to nothing lead for the wildcats of camden county over the cougars first half stats time of possession jeff really showing the wildcats possessing most of the football almost 15 minutes of it and total yards to telling story thus far 106 for the wildcats 47 for the cougars yeah nothing great about the the yardage except that they were very efficient they got the two turnovers they scored off both of them on the other side of the ball noon and not very efficient with their offense a couple of sacks the two fumbles you're just not operating efficiently as an offense when you're doing that and you're putting your defense in in a bad bad situation the defense didn't help itself though a couple of penalties two personal fouls and offsides i think early things like that newton's really got to sharpen up its game here at halftime ian days six carries the 47 yards in that first half 20 nothing lead for the wildcats quick timeout we'll be back to start the third semi-final football on gpb [Music] he preached by the shores of the sea of galilee happy holidays sunday at six on georgia public broadcasting this is georgia public broadcasting your pbs station [Music] we are back at drake stadium getting started set to start the third quarter before we do that john nelson standing by with the head coach of the cougars robert herring nelly thanks charles biggest question i guess what'd you tell them at the half down 20. the biggest thing we think we've got to get one touchdown to try to get the mo change and that's the biggest thing now we do not have any momentum if we score one touchdown and get it 27 i feel like we'll have a change if not it can the gates defend open up and at the same time you know that first turnover kind of tilted things for them in the first half well it's been on the usual game everything we could do make mistake we've made it and but to south fault and and then cameron's coming on so good i think they helped do that too so it's not all our fault they did a good job too but anyway we're ready to play and we'll see what happens good luck coach in the second half charles let's send it back up to you and jeff thank you john about a realistic appraisal of your of your your half a very football by your team as i think i've ever heard from the coach saw one of the fans with that stat that's that poster there talking about the old three finish between these teams it was a semi-final match up then and the wildcats of camden county just ran away with that football game 20 to 10 to win that one and there's been a repeat of that semi-final match up cougars hoping for a different result some of these fans here at noonan high school hoping for the same but right now very deep hole for the cougars to dig out of the fury robert herring with a very honest assessment about that first half and spoken like a veteran coach speculation that this may be his last season as head coach and maybe retiring after this year 45 years on the sidelines of high school football so a lot of wisdom in there yeah he's had a wonderful career he's seen everything that's uh that could be seen in a in a game uh and certainly uh i like that though i mean i like the the honesty and i'm sure he has it with his players too i thought they told him halftime how he felt about that first half and uh you know let's see how they react to it i think more anything uh camden county comes in here looking very confident very well prepared and was able to take advantage of a lot of short fields in the first half and be very successful against probably the premier defensive team in the state in moving a few people would argue with you about that the wildcats will have the football to start the second half sam taylor will pick it away for the cougars and you've got to say that newton's defense other than the points in the short field really is not we're not giving up a ton of yard is it cameron county has a little over 100 yards of offense himself taylor with the kick that's a deep one back into the end zone and the wildcats will start this drive and start the third quarter from their own 20-yard line [Music] tonight's game is also being streamed live on the new gpb football fridays in georgia website log on to gpb.org football you'll also find live game blogs live scores from score atlanta and much more that site again is gpb.org backslash football just concluding a good season of football weekend for championship football on gpb first and ten for the wildcats they go on the ground author johnson walking it near the 24-yard line johnson with a first fine first half before the wildcats in camden county coming off of the bench he's done a good job all year they list valdez as the starter at that one back position but andre johnson is he's averaged over seven yards a carry scored six touchdowns on the year from that spot we did this jeff last weekend carried the football 22 times for 133 yards accounted for 66 of the team's yardage last weekend so no stranger to that lineup good defensive stop that time by the cougars stop made by alexandra ogletree from the linebacking position the junior on the hit for noonan he stood out tonight alexander rogers made several stops behind the line of scrimmage doing a great job of penetrating from that outside linebacker spot so third down at eight now the fans here at drake stadium trying to cheer the cougars on you'll get to stop and get the football back under center on the ground and hit at the line of scrimmage johnson stop maybe got a yard on the play not much more stop made by adam spreckelsy for the cougars well that's what you want at half you coach was looking for that momentum he got it from his kickoff team to put it in the end zone start on the 20 and then to get three and out and force a punt on their very first series by candle is very emotional after that third down stop so deangelo smith now set the punt of the way wildcats got 10 in the box movement at the line of scrimmage it's a little shift that camden does they do it in unison it's very nice it's like the old dallas cowboy offensive line shift but it's a punt team and uh i think they caught somebody just a little goosey there in the defensive front for noonan they shift in unison it uh you know they really rehearse this well in practice as well so they'll mark off the five yards it will still be short of the first down marker got to be careful here though because of the shortness of this sure be very very careful by newman's defense [Applause] there's the snap it's clean they were coming for it they got the kick away though bounces at the 48-yard line and down near the 40. so the cougars will have good field position to start this drive the first of the third quarter the desperate need of the momentum change [Music] 14-game win streak here at great stadium 17 yards i had 126 yards 2012 last weekend in a driving range powell go right side now cuts it back to the inside and they did not get it back to the line of scrimmage [Music] you have an oliver with a nice penetrating stop from that linebacker spot as he throws him for that yard loss oliver and booth two inside backers been running through all night long or either one of them big physical people but exceptional quickness second down and 11. trips at the bottom of your screen powell looks that way now fires across the middle bonner with the catch up midfield now here's the run after catch by bonner yard line that is the combination when they go up top that they rely on most paul to allen bonner something we've been looking for i think most of the first half certainly noonan's been looking for it he makes three men miss i guess that's booth i'm sorry robert flowers to safety maybe michael green makes another guy miss a corner as he takes it outside 37-yard grab by alan bonner quickly on the ground they go option right side powell through the secondary level now spins his way down near the 10-yard line and yes momentum you can start to feel a little bit here jeff shifting just a bit shifting is a good word there charles that was a shifty run by powell thought he's gonna get tackled by robert williams also gavin oliver both had a shot of him neither one could bring him down first and ten just outside of the 10-yard line so they can get a first before a touchdown but you know they want to want the whole shebang the cougars on the ground they're gonna go option again bonner looking for some room at the outside dances and crushed near the 15-yard line michael green the senior closing from his cornerback spot nice hit on bonner dj houston the wide receiver out there he's targeting michael green got to stick and stay a little bit longer good job by green of forcing the action though loss of four on that play make it second down and 14.
[Applause] shotgun looking left still looking fires underneath catch me down near the seven yard line antoine johnson the senior wideout with the grab that'll make it third down [Music] [Applause] johnson 29 catches on the year so he is one of his favorite receivers third down six for the first one more yard and it's touchdown [Applause] powell here comes pressure left sides got some room now raises fires pass goes in complete crash coming in at the tail end of that play intended for the tight end zach thompson squaring up down near the two covered by robert williams [Applause] probably going to get a defensive holding or a pass interference one or the other close coverage oftentimes it's that right hand on the back of the wide receiver looking at the replay yeah trying to come over back at thompson very close very very close call a great effort i thought by robert maybe to try to not get interference but the official saw it that way very very very close call but he caught him for the ride 7 35 remaining third quarter it is first and goal to go for the cougars after the assessment from the three cougars trying to get their first score of the ball game powell mishandled the snap at the lana scrimmage with a flag coming in wildcats cover the football they're going to call a false start against the cougar offense if you're trying to pull the right left guard excuse me michael ross i think uh 54 left to right and uh i'm not sure if somebody moved early but never really got the exchange so the cougars actually getting a break by that assessment this will call the break they get a huge break the wildcats have covered that fumble [Applause] so second and goal to go now are from the er first and goal to go from the eight yard line this time powell lines up in the shotgun snap looking to his right now rolls left raises fires in the end zone pass goes incomplete it's intended down in the corner trying to get it to ej houston and michael green on the coverage for the wildcats mentioned michael green's name a lot tonight both offensively and defensively does a great job of closing on the ball pretty good protection didn't break down until late and powell started to scramble left that wildcat secondary and interceptions with eight second pole to go from the eight shotgun once again for power they'll keep it on the ground it's time to win the win fights his way down near the five yard line third and goal to go for noonan from there they're trying to trap here on an inside trap and knifing in from the outside is that booth i didn't catch the number of the might have been the inside backer it might have been excellent job of knifing in avoiding the trap block that would have that might have scored that was a nice little follow-up hole there's no question jeffy that on top of it third and goal to go now they're faking powell going to dump it underneath but under froze the football intended for win by the flag coming in in the backfield and they're gonna have a hold call against the cougars [Applause] cougars inside the red zone this trip and just self-destructing well the one penalty saved him this one will push him way back uh probably i'm not sure field goal range let's see seven tapped on to there would be about a 40-yarder i think 36 is their long this year right sam taylor 36 yards is the longest third down inside the five goes from third down and 29. got to make a manageable play here you're not going to have a touchdown play unless you're maybe getting an interference or something in the end so you just got to make some yards maybe make a chance for a field goal paul sly roll right side here comes the pressure he eludes the first wave now caught by the leg near the 31-yard line no less than four five six pending county jerseys in on that play and just nowhere for the senior quarterback to go 6 20 remains quick time out on the field 20 to nothing lead wildcats over the [Applause] cougars [Music] to bonner bonnet looking up field thinking pass now he'll try to run it connor got some room and finally has his legs clipped from under him near the 27 yard line so the cougars will give it over on downs to the wildcats of camden county quick timeout on the field 547 remaining quick timeout back like this broadcast of this program is made possible in part by the georgia high school association the ghsa would like to thank naturally fresh for their support of high school sports across the state naturallyfresh congratulates all high school students who work hard every day to earn success in athletics and academics naturallyfresh encourages all georgians to eat healthy to achieve top performance on the field in the classroom and at work naturally fresh thanks you for tuning in to gpb [Music] back live at drake stadium jeff cougars with a chance to score there perhaps shift the momentum here at great stadium but missed a good opportunity well they did you know they they had they got the big pass perception by bonner they get it down with a nice run by powell so they get it inside there and then just not very efficient a penalty to maybe save the fumble but you don't want a fumble you want to be able to execute down there and then kind of going backwards with the with the sacks so let's see what the nunes defense it got him some mole in the first drive let's see if we can keep that wildcats back on offense come their own 26-yard line willstead gives it fumble on the play football at the 22-yard line but corralled by greg baker [Music] oh the wildcats will lose about five on that play make it second down and 15. that's the only mistake they've made offensively all night the scores in semifinal action from the class a division are all tied in the third wilkinson county and emanuel county institute at 7-7 in the double-a ranks it's calhoun leading brooks county 31-21 in the third quarter and another double-a ball game beaufort extending its lead over fitzgerald 27-7 that football game in the third quarter as well on the ground they work it johnson looking for some room left side runs into a wall of cougars dustin russell leading the charge for noonan well they started out tonight trying to run that dust and muscle uh he's quick he's up field penetrating a lot of times from that three-man line spot but he is his own third down play coming now for the wildcats of camden county four minutes 30 seconds and now as we continue to run this through this third quarter quick moving third quarter third down and 13. lots of misdirection and they'll keep it on the ground on the inside spinning is baker looking for room baker did not get it back to the initial line of scrimmage so a good third down hold for the and cougars wildcats will be forced to pump this football away fourth down three scores coming away cairo leading carver columbus now 21-7 that football game moving into the third quarter flowery branch with a 14 to nothing lead over the grangers of lagrange that football game in the third as well all these scores are compliments some of our friends that score atl or score atlanta fourth down now smith set the punnett away connor stands on the other end of the field line drive kick bonner thought about a run back will not do so takes a wall can't roll to the 38-yard line wildcats with a 20 to nothing lead cougars knocked on the door very hard last possession we'll see what they do on this one trailing it by 20. just from watching bonner catch that ball and run and get the ball in his hands as often as i could uh try to get him in the middle field is way out wide there but i had five receptions in the quarterfinal game last week with one for 28 yard touchdown and keep it on the ground the andrews win win past the 40 up to the 41-yard line second down canada's done a good job with their linebackers booth and gavin oliver who showcased a little bit in the pre-game following up in inside running by win tonight shotgun for power second down and seven for the cougars looks left now steps up going down field got some separation but the pass overthrown intended for antoine johnson johnson had the separation just could not connect on the pass from powell what we wanted got that man for man coverage out there [Music] [Music] third down and seven oh with the snap fires through a bullet through it incomplete and intended for ej houston who is squaring near the 47-yard line pass goes incomplete that'll bring up the fourth for family had him open e.j houston working against the zone looks like he made doing a turn in on the 50 right on the numbers and the ball is a little bit outside thrown outside the numbers couldn't come back to get it enough [Music] green lets it bounce and it takes a cougar roll down near the 12 yard line and that's where camden county will take it over on offense leading at 20 to nothing [Music] 47-yard punt by sam taylor the senior [Music] yard line series between these teams they've only met twice wildcats won them both they won that semi-final match up in 2003 and they played again in 05 where all cats win that one as well you can show your support for high school sports programming by becoming a member of gpb by simply calling one of the numbers on your screen or you can visit our website at gpb.org and we thank you very much for supporting georgia public broadcasting bill steed will keep it on the ground spinning ahead is arthur johnson johnson near the 18 yard line just for a fine run paul johnson was spinning as you said charles picked up probably an extra three when he did that he didn't see people spin do that would that be a 360 almost uh anymore work this way out a couple tackles under two minutes remaining in this third quarter [Applause] with a first down pickup out near the 32-yard line jamal ramsby the junior defensive back for the cougars on the stop but that's after the big ground game there's a little bit of that deception and the inside linebacker sort of bit on andre johnson up the middle and the second man getting greg baker does a nice job pounding out the first so first and ten from the 33.
[Applause] [Music] up the middle this time johnson johnson pass at 35 flag being tossed in from behind the secondary of the cougars as audra johnson runs it up near the 37-yard line gotta feel like that's holding usually on the offense i think i've seen that enough over my lifetime probably done it once or twice as well just by the time i got really good at it i got too old to do it anymore you have to take years to mass expect that [Applause] assessment you're right jeff going against the wildcats penalty is on tonight cameron county just picking up his second and noonan with seven for 65 yards noonan started out early with theirs only two for the wildcats you talked about the freshness or the cleanness this in which they play this game the two penalties and the lack of any more than that really reflects the fact it does and field position has been huge i think for uh camden county they've been working with tougher field positions defense a little bit on the ground dancing toward the sideline initial stick on the runner johnson on the carry for camden county took a hard shot and fought off of that one balls ahead for about a yard or two on the carry issue hit by kenfield dicks to junior pretty conservative approach to in the second half of course you have 20 point lead and you're saying to yourself you know we just we just don't have to make any mistakes it takes a little bit of your aggressiveness away but they haven't thrown the ball in the second half as they did in the first half second down and 15 now [Applause] they go left side hurry baker looking for some room just gets a hard defensive knock instead [Applause] crushing blow laid down on the inside by the cougars and adam striker with the hit for newnan playing the run much better here in the second half as i said i think field position certainly has mattered there's a mindset also you get this far ahead you feel a little bit of comfortability going into the last quarter and indeed we are we have played three here at drake stadium the wildcats of camden county leading 20 to nothing over the cougars of luna quick timeout will be back to start the fourth semi-final football on gpb [Music] bonjour join from drake stadium semi-final football game wildcats of camden county leading at 20 to nothing over the cougars of noonan winner of this ball game advances to the championship contest next weekend from the georgia dome charles ward jeff van milk john nelson with the play call glad you could join us on gpb third down and 13 for the wildcats as we start the fourth pitch in the backfield humble [Music] near the 23 yard line could have been a big break there for the crews if you can cover their football there from the 23 but it'll force a fourth down and force the wildcats to punk the football well it was a great play by ogletree again we mentioned his name he's playing that defensive outside linebacker spot but they walk him up a lot in the defensive end look great force great pressure as he takes on the the wide receiver the running back for cannon county 23 i didn't catch who that was that's uh jeremy yes a senior great timing so d'angelo smith now set to kick it away for the wildcats bonner standing near midfield line drive kick bonner may have a run back on this one and lex did let it bounce though and it takes another wildcat roll inside the 30-yard line just could not get the right angle on that football to cut it off in mid hop after a 46-yard punt [Music] and no return [Music] so the cougars of noon are now training at 20 to nothing getting set to go off off the offense [Music] first down play paul rolls fires out the flats to houston houston walks his way toward the sideline and out of bounds near the [Applause] 38-yard [Applause] [Music] yards on that passport on a comeback around he got it to johnson johnson avoids one would-be tackle bites off another and gets it near midfield and a noon in first down green and on the stop once again for camden county but a nice little comeback route to the wide receiver there jeff that's good for a first down pickup uh stepped out of uh 21 alex carter glenn mack lynn mack with 221's out there nice ball fake by towel pickup of two perhaps three on the play got to get uh solidified on that line though 38 for camden county willie thacker did a lot of liberal substitution right now knife's in there and you gotta have uh some solid play on the line keep that penetration down paul tries to dump it into flats that's when it goes incomplete it was intended for antoine johnson johnson had to wait on it and come back for it and pass just did not have enough to get to it pressure coming that time one time again by ty booth the inside backer all night long good job by camden county running through their linebacker gavin oliver ty booth robert williams we've seen him in the backfield they do a lot of run-throughs third down nine minutes 50 seconds left in this semi-final football game cougars gotta make something happen powell survey now fires across the middle bottom stride with the catch sits down near the 33-yard line first down noon trail that time by glenn mack great protection from the noon and offensive line the only rush three dropped to eight looked like mack might have been in a man position though on bonner he came all the way across the field excellent completion first and ten from the 33 of the wildcats how rolls left side here comes the pressure now raises fires throwing it toward bonner on the comeback not able to grab it though down near the seven yard line pass goes incomplete powell was rolling through his strong side which is his left pretty well thrown ball here uh flowers and flowers both in double coverage that's a pretty well thrown ball almost good catch and back to powell now on the ground spends his way inside the 25 down near the 24 yard line it's a little bit short of a first make it third down and one found some room [Music] that's the second run we've seen him make tonight [Applause] third and less than they are for the cougar first down right side of wind bounces past the line of scrimmage she's got the first down for the cougars blocking on that right side alfred left guard and [Music] vino going to georgia tech raymond 6 2 285 though first and ten now they fake it they win powell will keep it himself not much room on the inside while cats play it well we'll make it second down big nose guard jeremiah booth six foot 296 working against the offensive center buchanan and didn't get a lot of movement on that time clogged it up for that size second and ten from the 22. oh looking left now fires it out in the flats catch made by bonner near the first down sticks out of bounds depending on the mark good route needed to get it to the eleven caught it and goes out of bounds at the ten so that's first and ten for the cougars they can get a first down before touchdown it would appear just outside and now they'll say it's first and goal to go no first down opportunity we gotta punch it in ten time i'll take it on the field taken by the wildcats of camden county and jeff you get the sense now that cougars know that they've got to do something on this possession well yeah you're right i think that's why they call it timeout uh i'm for throwing it three times uh possible try to find bonner uh four times whatever it takes whatever it takes at this into the fourth quarter uh it was a very nicely designed pattern last time with bonner caught underneath antoine johnson running the clear out running off the defenders a little bit so uh those are those are two good looking receivers over there try to get them on the same side maybe do some combo or maybe a slant you just i think you just got to put the ball in the air you got to get a score here if you're enjoying what you're seeing here tonight you can show your support for high school sports programming by becoming a member of gpb simply by calling one of the numbers on your screen or you can visit the website at gpb.org and we thank you so much for your support georgia public broadcasting championship football coming your way next weekend on gpb from the georgia dome we will have all five classification championships ball ball games next weekend starting on friday first and goal to go now for the cougars at the tim the wildcats powell fires across the middle bottom there for the touchdown for the cougars nicely executed charles there's the slant they've been lining up wide on the numbers all night long with bonner and does a nice this slant can catch his number though but he's defending the back of the end zone he needs to tighten it up a little bit but that's a well executed touchdown pass cougars get alan bonner involved in that offense a lot more in that possession and the result shows touchdown for the coup is their first of the ball game kick by taylor is good so it is a 20-7 lead now for the wildcats of camden county eight minutes 16 seconds left still a lot of football time left jack well you're right they finally got banner involved a lot more in the offense he has got good ability running after the catch looks like he's got some size to him and some speed and some deceptiveness a nice looking football player and uh they cashed in on it scoring drive 11th place 70 yards almost three minutes connection for powell to bana from 10 yards away the touchdown grab makes it 20-7 [Music] honor vote at all state has a wide receiver for the cougars fans here at drake stadium finally with something to cheer and play about waiting on their cougars to break the scoring ice and they do it [Music] [Applause] he looks bigger from up here they say i thought i had like 5 10 about 165 once but he looks taller just looking at it from up here yeah yeah that gate with those legs looks like he's got some long legs so taylor now to kick it cougars gotta make something happen defensively deep kick by taylor bouncing at the one will be filled with there up the gut and bounce down near the 15-yard line here for the return returned by ronald flowers the senior for camden county phil [Music] county has not been the same team in the second half a little bit of that maybe that lead but their field position has been much better they haven't got any short fields in the second half they've had to start deep in their own territory several times and unions defense is doing a nice job of containing them if there's any difference that makes up for where we are right now in this ballgame is just how the cougars started this ball game out just gave up too much good pool position for the wildcats have settled quite a bit but coach herring said in the pregame that they could not make a lot of mistakes and they did early on it's just so important how you start a ball game in your third quarter or i i think even more important the the start of it the fast start getting out ahead of people it's a formula that a lot of coaches do at every level has been through very successful injured cougar down on the field appears to be delandis hill the senior linebacker 7 54 remaining as we take a look at some of the scores reported to him from score to atl class 4a it's tucker commanding lead over griffin 34 to nothing into the fourth quarter so the tigers appear to be headed to the dirty dome cairo with a 21-7 lead over carver columbus that football game in the third quarter defending state champs about to be dethroned here in that degree a ranks flowery branch 14 to nothing lead over the grangers of lagrange that one in the third quarter that's triple a action in the semi-final from the double-a division calhoun getting some trouble from brooks county in the fourth quarter had a big lead but now it's 31-28 calhoun still with the lead but brooks county charging maurice freeman and this gang getting off the deck it's beaufort with a big lead over fitzgerald 27-7 that football game in the fourth quarter that's double-a action the class a division eci with a 14-7 lead over wilkinson county again all these scoring updates provided to you by score atl [Music] [Applause] milstead gives it on the ground right side days on the carry for camden county leland russell the senior quarterback called his name a lot tonight jeff and on the stop for the cougars yeah coach herring there see a man there looking at a clock from behind and they're just trying to make sure they run this clock down all the way as far as they can before they have to snap the football call clock management game management you see the guy standing right behind coach harry with the stopwatch [Music] third down and three now right side back to the inside but the cougar defense up on the inside short of the first down marker very close though they've been backing away on these fourth downs the last uh two or three times and punting the ball deep in their own territory will pray for the senior defensive lineman in on that stop for the cougars it was less than a fourth in the yard and that means that the wildcats could pump this football away but [Applause] we have seen it a couple of times in this ball game jeff as a timeout's taken by the cougars and noonan that situation where the wildcat offense because of that little staggered start that they have at the line of scrimmage has drawn off the cougars of the line of scrimmage a little forewarning your team to be alert not to be drawn offsides and to make them earn this first if they go forward two timeouts left for each team here in this semi-final ballgame 20-7 lead for camden county other scores from around the state at double a semi-final is beaufort 44 fitzgerald 14 now that went into the fourth quarter lincoln county and wesleyan how about this score jeff wesley and leading it 13 to 12 in the fourth quarter private school [Music] going up against the team the red devils have lincoln with 14 state titles under the belt and wesleyan giving them all they can handle in the fourth quarter leading in 13-12 [Music] so fourth and one coming now and now the wildcats will show conformation smith stands near the tent but a timeout taken by the wildcats of camden county don't have enough guys out there only had 10 and uh wanted an extra guy came in late cost of a timeout the wildcats burned one leading at 20-7 facing a fourth down and one some of the scores coming from around the state and semi-finals gives us a chance to kind of postulate about the championship matchups from next weekend from the georgia dome right now in the class double a it could be the yellow jackets of calhoun and 11 and 2 meeting the trojans of brook brooks county at 12 and 1. the griffin bears right now tucker leading that against either the jerome wolves or the marist war eagles last report we had from score atlanta was rome leading marist in that ball game that game coming your way on friday december 12th class a red devils losing to the wolves at this point wolves if they hang on will have a chance to meet either eci or wilkinson county right now within some county of leading in that other ball game triple a sarah makers leading carver columbus it could make face the falcons of flowery branch who lead the grangers in a december 13th ball game from the georgia dome fourth down play now the wildcats will put it good punt by smith smith got it up near the 31-yard line 45-yard punt by d'angelo smith the senior nobody backed for noon and they did play punch safe all the way it's about as safe as you can get it we're gonna we're gonna fool us at all 602 remaining here this semi-final ball game the winner of this contest will meet either the rams of grayson or the lions of peachtree ridge and have an update from that one on a while be curious to find out where they stand and now the last report the lions were leading it well you got to go to the air a little bit you're six minutes left and two scores down uh you were successful throwing the ball last series you have to do it again powell showing up shotgun he will do exactly as you indicate jeff and all the pressure from the backside and they get a sack on him [Applause] myers mccabe is there vegas myers on the staff wouldn't stay after all he stayed after it and he was getting run around the outside by the left tackle he steps on up and uh marcava stays after a nice job second and twelve lost the two on the sack powell shorts out at the field here comes the pressure noise steps up right side and they get another sack on him this time at the 23-yard line this time booth on the stop once again good pressure the russian four bringing booth the linebacker and uh i mean sorry oliver the linebacker and the very nice job of staying after you're working against five five on four and forcing the quarterback to step around and you're there when he steps near you third and 17 now after the successive sacks on powell powell will take the drop nonetheless left side he's got some room in front of him now raises fires through at the bottom with the catch near the 43 and that's enough for the cougar first down [Applause] 20-yard reception to alan bonner on the roll was russell powell the senior quarterback [Music] that's a quarterback and a wide receiver like nice job by bonner to adjust to his quarterback rolling out and coming back and making a play for himself [Music] from the 43 first and ten for the cougars here comes the pressure powell has a jersey now he gets himself free got a block backside now raises fires down field and incomplete intended for antoine johnson who was crossing near the 30-yard line good effort by russell powell to avoid the sack on that play jeff you're right charles ty booth comes free inside linebacker on the right side guard or tackle somebody's got responsibility for him they turn him loose excellent job of creating something instead of giving up a 10-12 yard sack at least getting it back to the line of scrimmage for the an incomplete pass four minutes 33 seconds left in the semi-final contest critical play here now powell he had a handle on him but he somehow frees himself and able to throw the football out of bounds to avoid what would have been a big sack way back near the 25-yard line protection's broken down a little bit here for a noodle i found a safety or rather corner glenn mack coming off the edge but he could have had a sack for about 10 or 12 yards powell does a nice job once again of avoiding a big loss third down and 10.
[Applause] houston reporting for duty tighten up that protection take advantage of the wildcat pursuit [Applause] here comes the pressure how angling fires through the han by dwayne coleman but the pass goes incomplete well there's two guys shadowing bonner just about every play ronald flowers wayne coleman and still it could have been good completion he just just missed him but he was under duration once again somebody duration he was depressed somebody was after it you're very well understood i know exactly there's only the rest graduated here too power rolling right side this time raises fire going for bonner down phil obama cannot make the over the shoulder catch at the 20. bonner had a little room there pass is thrown to his inside just not able to make the full adjustment to pull that football down that's a well-thrown ball charles he's moving to his right he's a left-hander he's got to let this go a little bit across his body and he's got to keep it in bounce it would have been a great catch because it had to be an adjustment by bonner but oh this is close this is very very close just out of the fingertips of alan bonner this is the better shot of it you see it right there pass right on target a couple of balls a couple deep balls tonight he's been well thrown they haven't connected one he missed big time i think it was antoine johnson and i missed about 10 yards but a couple of them have been very close 416 remains in the football game now wildcats with it milstead turns to corner got it inside the 40 near the 39 and a half dustin russell went on to stop for the cougars make a possible return trip to the georgia dome well you'd like to keep your timeouts uh coach has got two timeouts left but he'd like to keep him for offense i think he could if you just get a stop here you're probably going to call upon that sort of clock down there hillstad under center on the ground gives it today's days at the second level of the defense now works his way back to the inside days finally clipped up inside of the five-yard line at the two by dustin russell the touchdown saving tackle by russell but it may only be for the moment 37-yard scamper by ian days makes it first and goal to go for camden he's been kind of a workhorse tonight we featured baker in the in the pre-game but ian days has really stepped up tonight and it's been sort of a workhorse 10 rushes 91 yards 9.1 one td yes he's been he's been big tonight for camden county good night for the junior injured player down at the five yard line for the cougars of noonan and it was dustin russell who's injured down here now that made the stop or the touchdown saving tackle on days got injured as a result a lot of times you fall on the back of the cleats or something you knock your wind out a little bit justin russell is uh holding his stomach there like maybe he got his breath knocked out he's been great effort tonight's been in a number of tackles you see him there though jeff on screen just wondering where's my helmet as soon as i go over to the sideline i'm coming right back well a lot of these guys this could be their last game they sit on these seniors they're not going to play this competitive great game anymore you really see the passion that you have in young people playing this game it's nice to watch wanting to do well wanting to be very good at what they do they're also a senior so it's first and goal to go now for the wildcats of camden county trying to put an exclamation point on this one they run it at the line of scrimmage johnson fights up one tackler works his way down to the one and they knock him back it'll make it second and goal to go on the stop for the cougars and noona there he is he's gunned back in charleston just like you said found his helmet took one play out like you're supposed to when you're injured and right back into the fray yeah you were talking about it before we hit the air about the pureness of high school football and that's a classic example of it right there the game's a great game i love the game myself in all four levels when you're youth you don't know what you're doing high school when it's just so pure college if you get a chance it's very competitive you can earn an education and certainly close making money all levels have some things to gain from them as milstead sneaks it in left side and the wildcats almost steal their fate now as they explode on their lead 26-7 almost assure themselves of a trip to the georgia dome lost in the semifinals last year to the vikings alums but this year coming into drake stadium at noonan high school and defeating the team that they beat in 0-3 in the semi-finals the year that the wildcats won the state title they had a chance to go back to the georgia dome next week pretty good road team county not a bad defensive team themselves we talked about it in the pregame show only giving up just a little bit over eight points per ball game as the extra point is good now the wildcats lead it 27-7 well they do an excellent job of running their inside backers through on both the run plays and pass plays they get after the quarterback their good pressure team and pretty good a secondary play they've been hurt a little bit this tonight by noon and county's passing attack while we get set to go for the transition a chance for us to hand out some thanks a couple of huge thank yous for some folks here in noon and first grady skies and the staff at the rental service corporation for their assistance in providing scissor lifts for our end zone cameras and to assistant coach bob sandon for his support and of course to the noonan's athletics director and assistant principal steve allen we surely appreciate everyone's help here in noonan to help us get this broadcast on the way with a semi-final ball game on the road here at noonan at drake stadium folks here at noonan have been very hospitable to us here on our visit today we're actually here last weekend on football fridays in georgia as a prelude to this semi-final ball game no finer folks across the state of georgia than the ones right here noonan georgia we thank you so much for helping us out with us [Music] 208 remains in this football game 27-7 lead for the wildcats wildcats now set to go to 14-0 on the season and more importantly set to go to the georgia dome next week either the rams of grayson and coach mickey khan rams 13-0 coming into the semi-final ball game tonight short kick and filled it by one of the up men for the wildcats near the 37 yard line and returned by alex ogletree on the return for noona lions peach tree ridge at 11-2 on the season head coach bill ballard will meet one of those teams next weekend great run for the cougars of noonan though yeah 13-0 that's not too shabby took on all comers till tonight see they did power in the backfield now raises fires got houston in the flats wicked shot he took near midfield did he hang on to it yes he does appears to have enough for the cougar first down aj houston took a hard shot after the catch look at the replay a classic tackle [Music] coleman coleman on the stop yeah right very nice classic tackle catch them all for a closing fast first and ten from midfield that's a movement up front you saw jeff they caught it a little bit more efficient on how you're doing things offensively defensively camden county traveling here playing on nuna's home field you know they've certainly exhibited that oh we'll roll it right side here comes the pressure raises fires through it short four wildcats nearest people to that football and it falls incomplete he couldn't gather himself he was trying to couldn't get set i think to deliver that ball he bumped into one of his offensive linemen too so they bumped into him one of the larger questions looming for the folks here in noon and georgia and indeed across the state is the weather could go to robert herring or decide to come back to the noonan program next year papers across the state indicating that he was considering retirement as powell put some air into this one and this one will be picked off no they rule it incomplete it was dwayne coleman down field almost had the interception but it goes incomplete well retirement is a poor option always i think in just about everything it's especially when you've been in this game and meant so much to so many people and so many different programs that he has been in charge of congratulations to him though really to become among a very elite class of coaches to win state titles in three different southern states one one in mississippi alabama was trying to get one here in the state of georgia as wind works his way on the run after catch down near the 40-yard line into all cat territory approaching a minute left first down pickup appears to be they're gonna be just shy of that first down market jeff should be right fourth and two actually should take [Applause] with the first down grab spends his way down near the 21-yard line red slant again a little quick slant by bonner same play that he took down earlier so first and ten from the 22. all shotgun [Music] didn't blow a whistle so powell continues to play at the 20 and 15 yard line players thought that they heard something they stopped momentarily but powell continued to play which you are supposed to do very smart move on his part it looked to me like it was 12 people on the field for cannabis defense one coming off very very late i don't know maybe the whistle was in the burton or it came from somewhere else now you're seeing somebody come off the field so second down and four been messing around with for the last couple of plays finally able to pull one in in the end zone and the wildcats will take the football over with 33 seconds left coleman had won on the previous play before the first down catch there where he had it and dropped it on a long pass down field but this one able to collect the interception and give the wildcats to football camden county with a 27-7 lead over noon and headed to the georgia dome next weekend chance for us to thank our guys in the booth joe tucker spotting force and michael grimes with the stats up here keeping us kind of on task up here in the booth so the wildcats now set to take a knee and it looks like jeff at the end of the day that quite the answer to our question is that tonight it was offense that took the wildcats into the georgia dome enough offense and a pretty good defense too uh against what had been probably the premier league statistically defensive team in the state of georgia so camden county on the road coach jeff herron got to be very pleased with the way his guys came in a very business-like fashion up here to noon in georgia to take their 14th win of the season to win the semifinal ball game and advanced to the championship ball game next weekend from the georgia dome won it 27-7 over the cougars of noonan their opponents in the championship ball game yet to be determined coach aaron and coach aaron there at midfield we'll show the sportsmanship here john nelson standing by coach herring john how does it feel to be playing for another state championship coach it's been a long time coming john but uh you know right now we'll just try to enjoy this one a few seconds and then we got to start getting ready for somebody else you know that's tough you're worn out this time of year everybody is but you know we're gonna go up and do the best we can i know that you officially exhaled with about 30 seconds left in the game great job defensively keeping their great offense incontained they got a great football team on both sides of the ball great kicking game and you know for us to come here and win here was a is a great accomplishment and my hats off to these kids and the assistants they did a great job and i'm just lucky enough to be alone for the ride thanks everything coach will see in the dome we'll send it back upstairs to charles and jeff and john you're right they are headed for a ride to the georgia dome next weekend quick timeout and back with the wrap-up from drake stadium semifinal over the cougars of noonan 27-7 wildcats of camden advancing to the championship ball game next weekend from the georgia dome solid performance by the wildcats jeff top to bottom very solid that's a
