that's a championship team right there welcome to emory sewell stadium in kennesaw for another football friday in georgia tonight it's the first round of the georgia high school association 7a playoffs as the 10th ranked tiff county blue devils have traveled the 210 miles north to take on the 8th right north cobb warriors as we take a look at the bracket tiff county the number three seed out of region one north cobb the number two seed out of region three winner of tonight's ball game advances to play either at lambert next friday night or host central gwinnett and good evening i'm matt stewart joined by big chuck smith and it's football time in georgia matt yes indeed it is tiff county in the playoffs just the second time in the last eight years looking for their first state playoff victory since 2008 taking on a north cobb team that's won four in a row and many consider this a dark horse team in the 7a field well exactly right tiff county they got it started last week by let's just say manhandling camden county but this north cobb team since they lost in the kitchen they've really turned it up and they're very dangerous right now going into the playoffs and one of the reasons they are very dangerous is a speedy fast athletic defense led by their linebacker chandler wooten espn four star he's committed to auburn and their cornerback drew techman who has 17 offers and you know techman he's a cover guy he can do all kinds of different things he's a great player but chandler wooten i expect him to have a few tie out hits tonight now you know we didn't talk about the fallout he's one of the best players in georgia he moves runs to the ball well he has a high iq at linebacker gets the job done i look forward to seeing him play tonight then tekman you'll see on the offensive side of the ball he is their leading wide receiver in receiving yards and also has five touchdown catches now tiff county comes in they run the spread they're led by their junior quarterback griffin collier got a great wide receiver and rashad bateman who's committed to georgia southern well he's a super-sized wide receiver bateman at six two 180 pounds there's nothing that can be thrown by a quarterback that he can't catch if it's in his range i look forward to you know big game from him tonight because look tiff's going to take some shots downfield it's going to be interesting to see how north cobb plays in the secondary and bateman was the leading wide receiver in region one seven a this season now the third member of our team as always is john nelson and he's tift county making that 200 plus mile run up here to kennesaw acworth one of the things that head coach ashley anders said in transitioning from year one to year two was learning about attention to detail you want to talk attention to detail here's how they got here today breakfast in tifton left at 9 30 in the morning tried to come north got caught in traffic or delayed 45 minutes from their destination of woodward academy get off the bus at woodward academy have a special teams walk through and a bit of a box lunch then you get back on the bus you're already behind schedule so you have to come up through atlanta you run into problems up here in kennesaw trying to get to your location for nap time pretty much remember when we were in kindergarten you had nap time you checked out for a half an hour instead of an hour and then coming over here as the crow flies it's only five miles away from one destination to the other but it took him a half an hour welcome to friday traffic here in suburban atlanta tift county and north cobb an interesting matchup of region one coming all the way north matt and dr rush let's light a very special round one candle back to you all right thank you nelly it took him a half hour to go five miles that's pretty good time here in atlanta i mean that was a good day well you're exactly right five miles half an hour that's a good day that is a good day it was traffic was thick i mean no it's friday night that is i mean it's friday night you can't expect it here in the metro atlanta area i mean what do you expect you know well the captains are out there at midfield for the coin toss you see number seven will love it he's the big quarterback for the north cobb warriors first ever meeting between these two teams they've been playing football a long time this is the 59th year of football for the north cobb warriors they started the program way back in 1958 tiff county as a high school been playing since 1962 but they were tifton high school before that dating all the way back to 1915. so a lot of football been played the first time these two teams have ever played against each other north cobb won the toss and they have deferred so that means we're gonna see tiff county on offense for the first time here tonight warriors at eight and two they went four and one in region three seven a number two seed five-and-oh at home this season they've won four straight since their 17-10 loss at mckitchen on october 7th right here on gpb and tiff county led by the second year head coach ashley anders 11-9 he was in his fourth season at the school he originally joined tiff county as a defensive coordinator on john reed staff back in 2013 and reed went on to be the head coach at rome but uh been a defensive coordinator most of his career with chris hatcher at valdosta state at murray state and georgia southern yeah and he talked about the importance of attention to detail and anytime you travel on the road when you have high school players it's important you know you don't want to just distract anything from what's important and that's being ready for the playoff games we'll see if this tiff county team is ready they bounce back from a late two-game losing streak in the season to wallop camden county as you talked about about 30 minutes ago on our kamatsu forklift keys to the game they beat camden county 44-7 in a de facto regular season game that was also a playoff game they had to win that game to get into the playoffs this week you're right and also it showed up we talked about earlier in our kamatsu forklift keys of the game rashad bateman the junior 6-2 180 at wide receiver big time player had big plays in the camden county game all i mean throughout the entire game but we can't not mention fred lloyd number one at 6'5 210 he's another wide receiver of that north cobb's going to have to keep their eyes on and limit his catches well the north cobb warriors scored no less than 31 points during their win streak after scoring 18 points or less in three of their first six games and only one of their games in that four-game winning streak decided by a touchdown or less so they are playing their best football and head coach shane queen told us chuck that that uh loss to mckeecher a loss in which they had a 10-0 lead in the third quarter lost 17 to 10 refueled their team and that's growing up and that's what coach queen was talking about you grow up in games like that when you have adversity you there's a lot of things that you learn when you lose you know in defeat there's so many things that come out and what came out for this team coach queen said is that it came out that we can play with the big boys we can play with anyone and that's why they're here winning four in a row and they were refueled after losing to the kitchen i love it i like seeing young teams bounce back and letting adversity or a loss make them better [Applause] [Music] well here we go first round of the state county will start on offense at their own 20-yard line and they are led by their junior quarterback he's making his 21st career start here tonight you see his numbers 161 for 263 passing that's 61.2 and even 2500 yards in the air just 20 the 21 touchdowns and just five interceptions for this junior quarterback this year well it tells me right now tiff county has to start fast griffin collier he has to come out they have to start fast and try to get get some respect early on from north cobb handoff goes to brenton jones he tries the left side and brenton jones picks up about six yards on the play trey urquhart making the tackle for north cobb as we take a look at the blue devils up front nash bragg the senior center the only well one of two seniors on that starting line in the son of offensive line coach chris bragg and brenton jones you saw just carry the ball right there 742 yards rushing on the season a defensive back that was converted to running back this season brenton jones with a big first down and moore crosses the 50 across the 40. got a block out there from watson brenton jones down to the 10-yard line and finally brought down at the six well we talked about starting fast i didn't know they're gonna start that fast but what a great start what a great run right off the bat from brenton jones 69-yard run for brenton jones finally brought down way downfield by the defensive end christian albright nice blocking by number 70. andrew self and you just talked a second ago about number 56 nash brag josh patrick now subs in after that long 69 yard run by brenton jones and that's the fullback cole patterson in motion behind the line setting on the left side josh patrick barely gets back to the line of scrimmage tackle made by langston parker the nose guard as we take a look at the north cobb warriors on defense it was parker who just made the tackle all brighton gatherers have combined for 18 quarterback sacks between them this season chandler wooten the espn 4 star who's committed to auburn and in the secondary drew tekman at corner has 17 offers including nc state and purdue collier rolling throwing caught that's a touchdown no incomplete he dropped it cam cobb had it could not hold on to it when he came down with it kevin johnson in the coverage and now it's going to be third down well nice design play i i like collier griffin i like the design of this play they fake an inside run gets him out in space that's what he's going to want back there now hits his hands what do they say when the ball hits your hands matt gotta catch got to catch it third down and goal from the six brenton jones back in there that's big number one fred lloyd you were talking about him the 6'5 wide receiver he goes in motion collier rolling to his left they go towards lloyd he can't come up with it great coverage by drew tekman that's the quarterback we were talking about with 17 offers and it's fourth down well nice design by this play of course here by tiff county but also great coverage right here by drew tekman that was a fire route they were sending the tight end to the corner they were sending number one fred lloyd on a flat route good coverage that time going man-to-man versus by north cobb fernando ramirez who's 7 for 12 on the season will attempt a 24 yard field goal from the right hash his kick is on its way and that kick is going to be no good need to hook that thing inside the uprights kicking from the right hash and he didn't kicked it too straight and tiff county after getting a big 69 yard run by brenton jones to get him first and goal inside the 10 fails to score well they did everything we thought they needed to do coming out when you're on the road start fast you get down into the red zone you have an opportunity to get get three you got to put these kind of points on the board particularly when you're playing you know when you're playing in the playoffs in a hostile environment on the road but give one for north cobb now let's look at what north cobb did way they bowled their necks and after that long run they stood up and did a good job of defense shane queen excited about it they're looking for their first playoff win since 2012 when they went to the semifinals back when tyler queen was their starting quarterback tekman's pass to him was broken up jaquan golson the cornerback broke up that little flare pass out there to drew tekman as you take a look at will lovett and he has one big quarterback at six three 220 pounds senior 14 touchdowns just four interceptions 1787 yards he's completed 60 percent of his passes yeah he is a big boy back there now handoff goes to cj cole he's a big fellow himself and cj cole rumbles out to a 14-yard game golsan making the tackle but that's a first down for the warriors well that play was designed to go in between the tackles nice job by cole watch how it comes downhill fast one cut and go that's what you look for and you know if i throw a rap to you that means you got some skills he's a big back big timer now nice blocking well ashley anders was very concerned we have a man down for tiff county right now at the 37-38 yard line and that is their defensive end jawarin bird but head coach ashley anders was very concerned that he watched you know two series on game film of cj cole and he knew right away they were gonna have to stop him tonight in order to have a chance to win well see cj cole i mean he he's dominant i mean he gets downhill and when we watched him get to mckitchen early on i mean he was really the key to the game i mean he was the star of that early first three quarters running downhill making plays but let's hope this young man gets off the ground so jaworin bird is okay here number 93. he's their leading tackler on jumbo-sized quarterbacks i mean that's how it is now you got guys like cam newton the big ones ben roethlisberger look at him he's one of those big ones but here's the thing about it he can run he can run he's proven that all year long that he can make big plays with his legs will love it committed to troy back in july handoff goes to jay irwin first carry the night for irwin as he gets the ball across the 50-yard line on a three-yard pickup as we take a look at the north cobb warriors on offense kadarian carter their big 6-4 242 senior wears a size 18 shoe he's actually new to football been a basketball player all his career and there you see in the backfield drew tekman the leading wide receiver for this warriors team with 18 catches 430 yards that's right at 24 yards per catch it's a strong number folks second down and seven ball at the 48.

like that too to you know get a little older got a little more forehead these days 17 offers he's picked up seven since we saw him five weeks ago he's been a hot commodity on the recruiting trail nc state purdue the local teams georgia southern and georgia state also teams are looking for versatility and that's what he brings to you yeah he may play offense as a wide receiver he may play defense as a cornerback in college this kick will be returned from the goal line and he hesitated that's a bad move by montreal henry he hesitated he wasn't sure whether he could come out or not and that hesitation cost him he got dropped by chandler wooten at the 12 yard line so a deep hole for the blue devils for their second possession well one thing that you can't do when you return to kickoff is hesitate you got to come downhill you got to hit it you got to be confident though being a i mean look it's a tough job being a kick returner punt returner cause you gotta you know you're going against these animals these savages that are running down and but you know he'll look back at that one and improve on the next one and you see coach ashley anders over there correcting him for that mistake that he made back out there the spread that's cobb in motion behind the line for the blue devils and the handoff goes to brenton jones and nothing doing that time he gained two on the play brenton jones a defensive back last year last two years been a defensive back they moved him to running back this year after they lost barry bennett who was the leading rusher in region one six a last season he graduated he's now at d2 wachita baptist but they needed somebody they didn't have a running back and so brenton jones they moved from the secondary to running back and coach ashley anders feels like he's just starting to hit his peak heavy rush and albright hits collier from behind that's going to be an incomplete patch man christian albright number 51 nice hands on the pass rush gets the hands off of him i love it i mean he cuts this corner on three steps swipe comes with the rip man that's textbook work right there yeah albright the senior took advantage of the sophomore left tackle austin williams on that play and now it's gonna be third down heavy rush again they flip it out there to brenton jones and jones has the first down gets across the 30-yard line like what i've seen so far from brenton jones i like what i see from brenton jones but also i like what i just saw from number 10 griffin griffin collier at quarterback smart play gets the ball out of his hands under duress he's going to take the hit and gets it out of his hands nice job feeling the rush excellent work also excellent job by brenton jones getting down field nice job first and ten from the 34-yard line griffin collier his dad mike is the wide receivers coach on this team got lots of time they set up the screen again for brenton jones and he's gonna get stopped or maybe not bounces off the tackle of ercart and then urkhart stays with him and makes the tackle and so does chandler wooten who finally runs him down hey but i got you partner i didn't think he was coming out of that hit that was a nice hit but you got to wrap them up what i've seen that time now brenton jones nice job with the knee bend he drops his shoulder here this is look at this great leverage by brenton jones handing it off or you know or taking it out doing a really good job i'm telling the high school football the development of the offenses in the last within the last four to five years is absolutely really kind of stunning yeah you know what i mean they they're putting three and four wides out they know how to run out of it these teams like the warriors and and of course tiff county can throw out playing the zone they're playing a three-deep zone and what you see here is bateman deshawn bateman number 13 finds a hole that's what happens anytime you're in zone there's going to be a pocket it's just a matter you have enough time for your receiver to get to the pocket and bateman that time did two catches now for bateman he's got 53 on the season call your 6 of 8 59 yards on this drive going to take a shot down field and throw in complete bateman was open under fired him inside the 10-yard line all right see that was the first time we saw we saw north cobb they went to man-to-man the defensive backs are closer now they're not 10 yards off playing a cover three in a deep zone they're coming up they played man-to-man that time man press and you saw them up close that's big number four jay irwin the linebacker for the warriors he's got nine offers including marshall east carolina ball state shane queen says these two inside line linebackers best he's ever coached collier on the keeper going to pick up the first dow or close to it he might be a yard short a little surprised to see north cobb the defensive line they rushed up field and um they automatically assumed that it was a pass you gotta they were running they never showed any pass here they were going inside zone but nice job of course by griffin collier [Applause] yeah wooten just clicked his heels and tripped him up third down and one here for shane queen's defense five minutes to play in the quarter got to give it to brenton jones well they're going to take a shot going down field over shot bateman [Applause] first time that collier's really just totally misfired on a play and it's going to be fourth down in one do you go for it here chuck i'd go for it i missed fire too because i assume they're gonna run the ball because brent jones had so much success but again they're trying to take advantage of this north cobb defense that was playing run and they were playing man-to-man again i'll go for it here and give it to brenton jones number three yeah fernando ramirez has already missed a 24 yarder on their opening possession i'm running behind zach's brother number 56 national prize there you go i'm running right there fourth and one brenton jones not gonna get there chandler wooten with the big tackle and the ball goes over on downs well they did exactly what i thought they would do chandler wooten the auburn commit makes a great play comes downhill if you watch him he's going to come right downhill inside the a gap that's right in between the center and the guard and makes a great play someone's got to block that guy chandler wooten comes up with a huge play on fourth down to get the ball back for the warriors yep a gap that's the a gap he came in did a good job of striking nash brag number 56 to center strikes and gets off the block and makes a great play in that a gap that's a high school senior right there [Laughter] they're growing up man it must be the food that we're eating these days huh cj cole trips over his own man stumbled over tim emerson his right tackle and took a loss that was a 14-play drive that stalled for tiff county so tiff county's had it first and goal inside the north cobb ten failed to score on a missed field goal right and then they have a 14-play drive and getting nothing out of them well they've controlled the ball i mean they've controlled the time of possession and everything but you got to get points particularly when you're on the road and you're you're you're an underdog you got you got to put points on the board to build confidence second down and 12 techman in motion they'll look towards techman instead love it going to take it deep and it's going to be caught by 20 green green down to the 22 yard line will love it what a great throw from the quarterback and adjustment this was going to be a route a flat route to drew techman he makes an adjustment on the fly and he sees quantity green going down field on the deep route because this play was ultimately designed they were going to try to get the ball to drew techwood on the flat route but they also had an option if he was open take a shot down downfield 58-yard strike to quantity green and the keeper bubbled by lovitt and the ball is loose and he fell on top of it oh my goodness and now a fight breaks out at the 15 yard line all right you can't be swinging your hands now [Music] but how fortunate was lovett on the keeper there he fumbled it fumbled forward three yards and he still fell on top of it inside zone comes downfield oh the ball just emerson here and off of the line right now of north cobb the warriors are dominating particularly when cj cole runs that simple inside dive play ain't a lot of thinking in that matt it's just let's put them big bucks together get behind them and let cj cole come down here sixth touchdown of the season for cj cole p-a-t by horton is good so after stopping tiff county on fourth down your tcsg touchdown replay 12 yard touchdown run by cj cole four play 79 yards 88 seconds yup nick price right there to me he's the key nice job by the center you see nick price they did a combination brock aj diaz and nick price did an excellent job getting their hands on i think that was chase sammons the nose guard moving him off the ball you know you always got to give some love to the big guys yeah cj cole's doing a good job big timer man good job he had a gaping hole right there and of course on the other touchdown detectment on the pass play that was just a that was well executed with great blocking too you're exactly right and you know you made a point a second ago just think about how big that fumble was just think if tiff could have gotten that function the difference of the dynamics here we wouldn't be down 14 they'd have the ball having an opportunity to drive but i think they've been in scoring position twice have the blue devils they haven't gotten anything out of it yeah it's tiff county's gonna have to find a way to score here i mean they had a 14 play drive got nothing first and goal inside the 10 on their first possession got nothing and now they're down 14-0 [Music] mean he's taking some punishment right now so they go back on offense still they go with the spread here in the four wides that's cobb in motion the slot back behind the line sprints out to the far mean they obviously this is the game plan this is how they play so third down and two they have used a fullback at times here in the first half cole patterson he's not in there right now though the between the center and the guard and they're hoping that they read the quarterback and but nonetheless good job by north cobb they're very stout right now on the defense yeah kj rivers is moving slowly as he gets banged up on the play and they check in jb brooks to come into the offensive line for him and then they run the punt unit out there on fourth down and one from a college standpoint that play made famous by one mr tim tebow inside zone and that big joker will keep it you go outside but tim tebow the thing about what makes the spread so dynamic you can run a one-back power and you gain another blocker instead of the quarterback handing it off but now you gain 10 blockers anytime the quarterback keeps it which makes makes you really dangerous at the quarterback if you got a great running quarterback here's casey ingram ingram heavy rush he gets it out of there that's going to be a short kick that's going to hit but take a nice bounce for the blue devils that thing monster like him and cj cole they are dangerous 427 yards rushing and that's jay irwin singleton with 427 on the season he's actually their best rusher yards per carry just under seven yards per carry that's erwin right there who also was the middle linebacker and there was the tackle made by atkins well this tip county defense i mean they got some players on that side number 14 alvin coney the senior he's been balling all year making big time plays they need him to step up they got to have their best players andrew johnson 94. got to make some plays here somebody's got to step up [Music] the game we can look at all the flashy plays the story of the game though is the speed of the defensive line from north cobb is over matching the size of the offensive line for tiff county yeah but they i understand they go into this thinking they have an advantage but at this point we all see they have an advantage they've had an advantage for the last five series i mean again quarterback has no time to step up you know he's getting beat up a little bit in the pocket but the deal is to me you've got to help these offensive tackles if you're you're the tiff county blue devils i mean this is a three-man rush it's not four this is three guys going against five and you got a running back so it's really could be it could really be a six-man protection versus three the running back that's in the backfield that's the there's one back in the in the backfield and you got a quarterback so what they have to do matt they need to use the running back to help it doesn't make much sense for you to even have four wives if you can't get the play off right i mean these guys are good but at this point it's more what tiff county's not doing than what north cobb is doing we know they can rush but tiff county is doing nothing to adjust third and 16 the holding call declined by north cobb and the run right up the middle by brenton jones he gets a chunk of it back but it's not going to be enough and they'll have to punt you're exactly right they're gonna have to go in there in x and o's and it's it comes down to protection they're gonna have to they've gotta find a way to protect their quarterback if they're gonna have any chance to get back in this ball game in the second half yeah and i mean north cobb you look at the north cobb secondary i mean they got eight guys sitting back there so it makes it even harder to throw when you've got eight guys eight defenders in coverage and three men can destroy a six-man you know protection yep fourth down they're going for it here i mean look at the defenders we can count one two three four five six seven there are eight defenders sitting back there yeah they're not going for it they're just trying to draw them off sides and now i'm sure they'll punt you certainly don't want to give north cove a short field here with half a minute to play in the half i'm sure number 10 griffin collier is like i need to get me another real protector he has taken a beating no doubt about it and the reason i'm laughing is because tiff county can see this they see their protection is completely melted down and give a lot of credit north cobb and you know as a pass rush coach i love these kind of days i mean when no adjustments are made and you got guys that just can run around the block give them credit but they're using great hands i'm not taking anything away from the cop cause i talked about earlier how they were popping off the film i mean christian albright i'm like who who's offered him so far army and charlotte i don't know what's what's happening around the country right now in college but he can play he can play big time ball that cat right there is not saying nothing's wrong with those two schools right but to me he should have more offers just alone by what i'm watching now he's he's got speed and he's got great technique and technique carries you to be a great pass rusher to the next level because everybody has speed fourth down and six here now they will punt as casey ingram's back out there again standing at his 28 yard line nobody back for north cobb the warriors are convinced they might try to go for it here and they don't and ingram bombs it that thing's gonna hit at the 16 and it's going to nice nice dead at the one-yard line wow 56-yard kick for casey ingram right there nice nice nice he did that right [Music] they're either going to run inside zone dive to cj cole or are they bold enough is tom clark bold enough to take a shot now you know when teams are backed up they think it's shot because what is so if you're on tip what are you expecting this time you're expecting a run but again when you they're up 21 they got a comfortable lead so probably be a run but yeah you know if i'm the coordinator well they can't just take a knee or it'll be a safety i know that but i'm just saying i if i'm again tom clark's calling a great game but sometime that happens i look like they're gonna run i just let big fella fall in there behind the guard yeah and that's exactly what they're gonna do nah bro i'm from the dan quinn school of competing be aggressive take a shot i love it i love the way dq calls and you don't hear it man but being aggressive but when you're in control i get it and they are in control although tiff county i mean you take a look at this halftime score and i'm sure people are going to look around the state and see north cobb up 21 nothing at halftime they're going to think wow north cobb has dominated north cobb has dominated offensively but it's a lot closer than the score indicates as we throw it down to john nelson thank you very much matt here with the coach defensively they got five you got three and you're getting your three to the back and meeting the quarterback back there yes sir we're blessed to have two defensive ends and a nose guard he gets out of quarterback christian albright thurman gatherers are doing a great job we told them up front if they could get pressure on the quarterback we'd have a great chance tonight and at the same time though you're stifling their chances in their key situations because this game really could be 21-14 one player another swing most definitely you know the first drive they got down there but thank god our defense made a couple great plays put them in the field goal situation they missed the field goal they go back down there again and we get turn over them down so our guys have played very hard we've given up a couple big plays but i think we settled in i think that's a little bit of nerves but the second quarter we didn't do as well offensively we put 21 points on the first um in the first quarter but defensively we settled down and we're making better plays defensively not georgia and this back road in backfield you've got a lot of firsts to talk about i'm going to let the arabian mountain rams tell you about all of their firsts the first playoff game and it's an exciting night for one school out in lithonia one two three four four five six first eight win season first region title first playoff appearance and the rams of arabia mountain trace the firsts to a meeting at the first of the year january we started off about 16 people in the weight room about 12 of them being seniors and we set the goal we wanted to win the region to make the playoffs for the first time and we stuck to that as we added more pieces to the puzzle and adding more players to the team ever since last year when the last game of the season hit we came together as a class and we said we're not going to be like the last guys we're going we're going to make this happen and we got into the summer we went to fca we went to uga we just came together and bonded as a team and that's what happened so it started with a meeting and grew to a squad of close to 50 and with a high-powered offense and stingy defense the success led to something the team hadn't seen before just us winning more you know we just didn't we didn't want to settle for what happened last year and we didn't want everybody thinking that we were going to do the same thing last year so we wanted to prove them wrong it was like like he said we didn't want to be like the last class and we know that we want to do a big thing so like we know that we wanted to make history and we want to be the first class to go to the playoffs and to win the region you know to be in a trophy case and be memorable so we come back years later we have our name in history it's been a long journey a lot of hard work but we knew he's going to be here and we're working since january this just this is just beginning it's been a process during the process you know early morning workouts a lot a lot of time putting a lot of blood sweat and tears put in by these young men um a lot of just preparation and effort you know i'm just proud of them and coach pritchett has a lot more to be proud of right now leading villarreal 19-7 mark at the break so they could add first ever playoff win to all these firsts they've had this year yeah congratulations to the rams great effort good stuff out in lithonia all right backroads to drew techman well nice design screen pass nice job i will love it selling it cj cole rumbles in from 12 yards out 14-0 lead for north cobb still in the first quarter play of the year maybe defensively on gpb look at that well nice job i mean great instincts great hops good job by albright christian albright the int that led to the touchdown run by will lovett five plays later in a 21-0 lead after one quarter and that's where we stand at halftime you take a look at the stats i mean i mean plenty of yards for tiff county but the zero on the scoreboard has been a real killer for him because they have not finished drives missed a field goal failed on fourth down at the 20-yard line well tiff coach ashley anders talked about attention to detail the little things that affect you particularly when you're on the road you got to make those you got to make the plays when you get the opportunity well john nelson is standing by with coach anders right now all right thank you very much matt what'd you tell him i told him we didn't play tiff county football and we got two quarters of football left to come out here and play tiff county football and at the same time though you know offensively it seemed the pressure off the edge was forcing griffin to to hurry and the pressure was getting to it it's pretty much yeah i mean they got they've got outstanding players i mean the edge passers they got two really good uh edge pass rushers and when you get a 21 point lead you know those those guys can kind of pin their ears back a little bit so uh you know we've made some adjustments at halftime and uh you know we're gonna come out and uh and play up you know play as hard as we can this half thanks for your time and thank you let's send it back upstairs third quarter i think officially starts right now guys all right thank you nelly and chuck that's the big question what kind of adjustments were they able to make to protect their quarterback griffin collier in the second half well i'm hoping coach anders does something with protection and i got an idea maybe what you do is you slide the line to the right you got a five-man pressure slide him the gathers and bring you back on the left side and chip block against albright and you know that gives you a six-man protection and i think you know i think that'll help the offensive line and i hope that's what he does but i like hearing matt that they've made some adjustments i look forward to seeing them in the second half well north cobb will start on offense to begin the third quarter because they won the opening toss and deferred so the warriors with their three touchdown lead will get the ball first here in the third quarter there you see will love it four of eight passing for 128 the touchdown pass to drew tekman was a screen pass and then he had six carries for 19 yards and also scored on a 14-yard touchdown run himself the big thumper that's his new nickname will love it the big you know he's built a lot like tyler queen shane's son who's now at auburn playing for the auburn tigers a lot like him from a size standpoint i love it i like the big quarterbacks they're hard to go down and you know with the way the scheme is set up you you're he's a running quarterback so anytime you run the spread option you got a quarterback that's going to be running in between the tackles and you got to have a big body you know like we'll love it well he's committed to troy and he's really had to be consistent for this warriors offense this year they had a lot of injuries on the offensive side of the ball early in the season quantity green drew tekman missed a game game plus with a broken hand so they were down some weapons on the offensive side and they really had to lean on will love it especially early in the season when they were having to use some younger players on the offensive side of the ball that's why they scored only 18 points or less in three of their first six games third do here in the third quarter well if i'm the warriors what i'm looking for here in the third quarter you're talking about north cop right yeah well north cobb what i'm gonna do is continue to run the ball inside with cj cole i'm gonna mix in a little bit of will love it running in run the quarterback power and i'm also i'm gonna get christian single to number 34 in the game he's been big time in the second half of the season here you go first handoff goes to cj cole and he's going to get stacked up at the line of scrimmage no running room whatsoever for cj cole on the very first snap of the game that was elven coney making the tackle for the blue devils nice start and if you're tiff county you want to come out and play blue devil defense you want to limit these big plays that have hampered them in the first half so second down and nine after a one-yard pickup for cj cole lovett goes to the air and that's complete to the tight end zaire oh yeah fosobi with the catches first of the game 19-yard pickup in the first down well the safety got froze here they got two safeties high over top good job slant route excellent job by the receiver 14th catch of the year for olya fasobi oyasobi nice play first and 10 from the 40. wow what a tackle there by cody thompson he leveled cj cole that was a big hit he came downhill and that nice job that's what you want to do when your offensive lineman blocks down the first thing you're taught as a defensive lineman you should snap your head and your eyes inside and that's what he does here tackle blocks down comes down and puts a nice little that's not a dial that's a just a thigh you know a softer one but it still hurts it still hurts second down and ten ball at the 40-yard line cody thompson had an interception earlier in this game as well they'll sling it out there to christian singleton got a block by techman and run out of bounds by daewon barnes the safety [Applause] third down and five got singleton lined up out wide also they throw it out to singleton same play just to the other side oh yeah fasobi out there blocking for him but they can't get the first down as he gets dropped at the 46-yard line gonna be about three yards short well now i see what coach anders is talking that's tiff county blue devil football good play defense getting after i like seeing 11 guys run into the ball what i like to see what i was taught as a youngster from my earlier coaches you want to see a 22 arms swinging to the ball swarming that means 11 guys on the tackle nice work by the blue devils horton no rush kicks it away fair catch is called for and maiden dropped at the 20-yard line but i think cobb was able to fall right on top of it and he did 34-yard kick a near disaster for the blue devils but they'll go on offense here for the first time in the second half and we'll check in with nelly for the first time here in the second half which means one thing dr rush what does it mean it's time to kick it let's the state 10-0 beaten by peachtree ridge probably the most talented team they had they had 12 college scholarship players on that team that year best season they ever had was in 2012 they got to the state semifinals before losing to lovejoy and that team went 11-3 and of course the the book is yet to be finished on this 2016 team how they stack up but they're getting farther than the 2007 team did and they're advancing to the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 2013. but shane queen says this team's a lot like that 07 team and it's very close-knit and these players have all grown up playing together for a long time and that's a monstrosity on the carry and strozier down to the 22-yard line yeah and that 07 team i mean they were just special they had went through a lot of battles together and they grew together and that that's what defines that season and he talked about you know coach queen talked about this team having that same kind of pedigree 15-yard pickup for stroziers we're down to our final three and a half minutes here tiff county the number three seed out of region one will see their season end at six and five just their second playoff appearance in the last eight years they got griffin collier coming back next year as a senior quarterback and three-year starter yeah griffin collier great year this year threw for 2491 yards the foundation of this offense was throwing the ball 115 yards passing today that that was definitely one of the big keys to this team losing the game today another final in in 7a peachtree ridge has eliminated archer 28-23 so the lions of peachtree ridge advancing to the second round of the state playoffs i'm gonna tell you number one for p3 rich connor hayward flat out balling listen i'm gonna tell you this this guy is special he punts he returns kicks he plays quarterback he plays running back one of the best players in the state bar none second down and eight ball is at the 23 yard line two and a half minutes to play strozier gets another handoff strozier slips out of two tackles strozier inside the 10 and down to the five before they finally get him on the ground rosie running like he's hungry double-digit winning season under shane queen and they'll try to get it next week at lambert yeah i really like what i see from this north cobb team after he lost to mkeitra this will be their fifth stopped him on downs but you know we started the night chuck talking about this north cobb team and some consider this team a dark horse in the 7a field ranked eighth coming into the night not a lot of people talking about them talking about of course mill creek talking about grayson colquitt roswell those teams this is an extremely athletic team and we've seen that here tonight they've got a lot of ballers yep as you like to call them exactly they got some ballers now this is a team that could uh could scare some people and i tell you where they got ballers at that meeting a lot that make them relevant and make them dangerous on the offensive and defensive line they're strong on the old line with nick price and aj diaz brandon moore and the rest group not just skill players not just skill players they got those guys they got athletes on the line but when you get in the playoffs when you're in a dance and you want to dance in the playoffs it starts at the offensive and defensive lines and that's what north cobb has i mean i thought it was an interesting observation ashley anders their head coach said you look at their offensive line they look like basketball players they don't they're not the you know they're not these big old huge behemoths they look like basketball players on that offensive line well they were movers today and they did an excellent job to me hats trailing early 45-24 and that one lee shuts out evans 41 to nothing so lee advances to week two as well back upstairs i was gonna say save some of it save your breath you gotta end uh your clark playoffs to where you are now to get to the second round well again it all starts with our leadership and you know in this race ride's fun because the kids make it fun i can't wait to get to work sure the holes were going to be there well i just told the lineman look here we just got to execute every time we touch the field we need to make plays like it really need to happen and then me and it looked like it donged off a helmet popped up into the air that was one of the plays of the year no question yes there was definitely was we they've run all week in practice and i just got a hand on it and made a great play on it what was the week of looking at game take like what did you guys see in tiff what were the biggest challenges we just knew they were a really physical team you know downtown georgia they played physical football so we knew we had to match their physicality up front so all right you look at that scoreboard and the score is what it is does that surprise you or is that expected to have that dominant and effort to shut them down after those first two drives we expected it because we practiced great all week so we just knew we was going to come out with a great game plan and execute well there you go executing well which means one thing you get hardware for a lot of defensive efforts so albright all bright for north cobb we'll send it back over to the set ridge the winner tonight over archer in a tight ballgame and when at county peachtree ridge moves on roswell had a bit of a slow start but they ended up beating brook so peachtree ridge at roswell at raymanist next week you know what happened here tiff county north cobb north cobb advances they play lambert lambert it was in a 16 nothing game it was in 1614 then lambert puts the pedal down against upper right go ahead and slide her down to the low section and we'll update things here you know how this one stands wheeler loses to cherokee cherokee moves on mill creek big shutout 41 nothing tonight over newton parkview beat south forsyth mckitchen after trailing 10-7 early on put the pedal down and they beat lasseter for the win there so go ahead and bring it full and we can add norcross to the mix here down low left so norcross advances and once again when hill grove and lounge decide that they want to go final that is your look at 7a so and her hand her handwriting is so much better than mine mark and jackie so we're going to come back in just a little bit and let you see what 6a looks like but that's your 7a bracket pretty much all full i think that brookwood cockweight game looks interesting because they already played once this season yeah so you get that early round matchup there and so there aren't any secrets but that caulkwood county team that you and i both we've all seen this year is far different from the one that was there in the first four weeks of the year oh you know and should louds win down in that bottom half they would come up here and play norcross who won the region championship and of course norcross is one of the three unbeaten teams remaining in 7a yeah so you've got a lot of region one versus gwinnett county and so that's our early look at 7a we're going to load 6a and show you what's going on there in just a sec sounds great woodstock's going to take on grace and i'm not sure that's you know it's good to win but boy that's going to be a tough one in the next round right a lot of teams making it through you know not some not any major upsets or major surprises so far at this point so all the ones two's kind of making their way in yeah there were a couple of close games tonight in 7a but a lot of them were a little bit more on the lopsided side as a lot of ones beat the four seeds and the close ones there with the two uh two teams winning by one point would be the battle of the one point games going on so a lot going on that bracket that's good yeah right now it's very interesting and there's 17 undefeated teams left in all of george's play three of them uh mill cross mill creek norcross and roswell of course unbeaten in 7a and you know roswell's kind of been a bit on a roll yeah i mean i was surprised here john say that roswell got off to a slow start against pebble brook i didn't think that would be the case just the way they've been running the ball um so far this year they've got sheldon evans have a really good quarterback too who also we should profile but you know obviously they're a huge powerhouse and i would love to see mill creek shannon jarvis and company always always put on a good show whenever we go out there absolutely they do and it's very interesting as you go on this year's the first year with the realignment that there is a class 7a right so there's a lot of good things going on in 6a and we've got a lot to look forward to as the postseason continues it's only just beginning so we've got a lot in store for the rest of the year you know you got the giggles but you also all season long you got to follow all these great quarterbacks that were in the state of georgia it's just it's a lot at this point it's a lot of teams so once we get to the point where we can narrow it down it makes things a lot easier and you kind of you know you weed out the two and eight types of teams and you kind of get in to see what you're really dealing with but yeah a lot of great quarterbacks obviously across you know you mentioned norcross baron radcliff is a really unique guy but yeah maybe we should go talk to some new ones all right let's go now we're going to take a look back into association 6a championship game the defending state champion and 14-0 caulkwood county packers take on the 14-0 roswell hornets season neely goes to the air to the far side it's caught it's gonna go 81 yards on the second play of the game aj smith who caught the game-winning touchdown with just 10 seconds left against grayson last friday night gets the hornets on the board just 46 seconds into this game and now keel pollard out of their wild hog formation takes the direct snap stiff arms his man and pulls his way into the end zone [Applause] pollard gets hit and still gets in xavier mckinney the safety who's committed to alabama hit him in the backfield and still couldn't stop him that's great parrish goes up top timely with the spectacular touchdown catch and caught with county has taken a 20 to 10 lead and they have set a new georgia state scoring record at the same time luis martinez he has 31 career field goals he is 31 of 45 in his career he has two field goals from tying the state record for field goals in a career and this is a 31-yard attempt and the kick is on its way and it is good and rush probes team currently ranked number two in the nation they're gonna be number one in the state of georgia locked down in the next 84 seconds it'll be the third state championship in caulkwood county history and we're talking about a long history folks over 100 years of football going back to the days of the moultrie high school packers and this is for the record rush probe is going to give luis martinez a chance to set the state record for career field goals a 42-yard attempt [Applause] and it is good another record luis martinez now holds the record for most field goals in a career that is career field goal number 34. good memories from the men from moultrie on their back-to-back championships and 30 wins in a row they lost the first four games this season they won their next seven i wouldn't count them out lost class seven and they have not looked back since which that shouldn't really surprise a whole lot of people so yeah the 6a championship game there from last year and now speaking of 6a we're going to see some of the new teams and show folks what's going to happen here in the second round and gainesville and harrison this game was back and forth early gainesville had the lead harrison moves on great year for the folks who are county you know that they are putting up some strong numbers in 6a and 7a tequila winner host stevenson next week north gate and centennial this one was back and forth northgate holds on 20 to 16 for the win there and valdosta put on 69 on lakeside evans tonight so valdosta will host at baysmore hider northgate if northgate has their way this game will be over within about an hour and 45 minutes but alan rodemaker's defense should be ready for this one let's go low right and show you what happened here lovejoy put in the mid 40s on richmond hill tonight dalton the big performance they also scored over 40 points in beating the double g's from wynder barrow down low alexander and alpharetta this was back and forth but we all know how tough alexander's been in their region so alexander gets the duke as the two seed and they get to host because we've talked about region one and how tough they are coffee and head coach robbie pruitt in the bunch from douglas they get the win tonight big numbers over heritage conyers so they turn into road warriors take on alexander next week so bring her full and that is your look at your 6a bracket harrison tucker lee county maze a latina glen academy in your rematch go to the brackets and look at everything else and go on so that's your 6a guys but i know that jackie the instant i said ala tuna and glen academy that's where she lit up well yeah i mean you know because when i talked to dj dallas of glen academy earlier this offseason i mean that that game last year haunted him a little bit you know not winning that championship game and he had the score the final score of that game as his you know twitter header and i was like why would you do that and he's like it's just motivation it's all i need to kind of push my team forward and he's actually one of the great quarterbacks too that we had on our list is the top six in the beginning of the season but then he kind of fell fell off the the chart but that's not because everything he's done wrong he's just a he's a guy who can he runs it a lot and this is strictly you know passing statistics but um yeah that one that one haunted him a little bit so i'm interested to see how that how that one goes how it kind of shakes out you know another game to watch is stevenson and tekula dakula's had an excellent season and of course stevenson coach ron gartrell he had some back surgery right at the beginning of the season and he had some problems there he couldn't coach from the sidelines and so he actually watched the first couple of games that were over at halford stadium from his pickup truck out in the parking lot where he could just kind of look in and watch a little bit of it because he couldn't stand physically you know on the sidelines throughout so it's good to see him getting healthier getting better his team is winning they're now in the second round of the playoffs and then a nice little rebound too after the game against tucker last week in that dekalb county rivalry so good for them to kind of make the next jump and obviously they're always in in the conversation they always seem to be just right there so good for them for making it to the next round of the playoffs we're moving on coming up games continue to end which means brackets continue to fill up and don't worry john nelson will have all the bracketology news that you can handle the
