[Music] stand welcome to grayson community stadium for another football friday in georgia tonight it's the number two rank mill creek hawks the champions of region six taking on the top rank and region eight champion grayson rams mill creek as we take a look at the bracket winners over newton cherokee and then last week a 31-28 victory over mkhitaryan to advance to the semifinals grayson winners in the playoffs against mountain view woodstock and last week a 49-21 victory in moultrie to knock out the two-time defending state champion caulkwood county packers grayson rams trying to make it to the state championship game for the second time in school history they won it all in 2011. three times they've had their season ended in the semifinals including last year when they were beaten by roswell 30-26 on a hail mary pass for the second straight year the mill creek hawks are 13-0 and in the state semifinals last year they were knocked out by the defending state champion caulkwood county packers by a final score of 52-31 and good evening i'm matt stewart joined by larry smith and larry let's start with these grayson rams they've won 25 of their last 27 ball games a d1 caliber offensive line led by will taylor who's committed to duke going to try to do something tonight that no team's been able to do against mill creek this season yeah this great offensive line is outstanding last week 375 yards on the ground but they'll be tested tonight mill creek all season long on the ground they've allowed 301 yards what a test yeah grayson defense led by breon dixon he's the number eight outside linebacker in the country and their big challenge tonight is to keep mill creek from putting together long drives yeah and they've done that all season long eight minute nine minute drives that with the defense it's been tough so again can this defense with all those studs on it make it stop no big offense and that mill creek offense is averaging over 40 points per game most explosive player is their halfback edwin graham and they've got to be able to get vertical on this grayson team tonight yeah they really do again make sure you get side to side and don't stand in one place make that defense move and come get you and use all your weapons and on defense they've got to have a lot of movement on that defensive line yeah they do bottom line don't let them be like a tackling dummy you gotta really move around again on that defensive line make some things happen and they're mike linebacker jake stewart the son of defensive coordinator bill stewart has been playing his best football over the last couple of weeks grayson and mill creek were just about set for the opening kickoff first let's send it down to our man patrolling the sidelines tonight john nelson the state midweek and it still actually had an effect on the turf here at grayson community stadium as far as today in some of the spots so in times like this you got to call the artillery in you call a bridge manufacturing firm and they bring in two helicopters and this is at about 3 40 this afternoon and they were buzzing the field in the two trouble spots so something to pay attention to action on the far sideline as you're watching on camera from about the 30 to the 45 yard line on your right and on the near side at about the 30-yard line working your way toward the end zone on the left walk the field before the game and it looks like when you come past the crown the helicopters have done their work so when you see all of those bodies in the trenches matt and larry it'll be interesting to see with all those bodies in that 10 yard area how chewed up this turf is going to be they overseeded and the overseeding has taken but it'll be interesting to see what footing will be earlier on we're going to show you what else is going on around the state we're going to kick it all night long and let you see who is going to the georgia dome also the other part of the 7a bracket on the left-hand side those of you following along it is roswell and westlake they are underway at lakewood stadium remember this is a venue change because neither side had capacity so they're playing at lakewood tonight we'll let you know what else is going on there and are the other matchups because matt and larry we are only one week away from the georgia dome so go ahead matt and light a very special semifinal candle all right thank you nelly the crowd is jumping here at grayson community stadium as one of these teams is just 48 minutes away from advancing to the state championship game grayson 12-1 on the season they went 5-0 in region eight it was their third straight region title their sixth in seven years seventh in nine years and eighth overall mill creek 13-0 back-to-back 10-0 regular seasons and double-digit victory seasons both of which are the first two in program history they were the champions of region six at 6-0 grayson has outscored their first three playoff opponents by a score of 164 to 49 larry that's a winning an average score of 54 to 16. you know we've seen some great offenses all year long and uh you look at both of these and what they have done coach jarvis right there has been the situation before i look at his numbers there in 13 seasons um they've just been offensive juggernaut here in these playoffs yeah shannon jarvis 86 and 59 the only coach the hawks have ever had in their 13-year program history they went 8 and 22 their first three seasons but have not had a losing season since in fact the hawks in their last 10 seasons 78 and 37 since shannon jarvis's first senior class in 2007 and they're the rams 2011 state champions when they went undefeated that season 15-0 thought they were going to get there last year they were seconds away until roswell beat them on a hail mary pass and knocked them out jeff haron a year ago had his team in the semifinals but the team he had in the semifinals was prince avenue his first season as the grayson head coach after mickey khan left for a job at clemson overall 27 seasons as the head coach jeff herron has won 285 games replaced mickey khan who went 137 and 48 in his 16 seasons as a head coach when you take a look at jeff harren he is kind of like the larry brown of georgia high school football you see what he's done prince avenue at camden county he won three state titles at oconee county he won a state title and he comes from the jimmy dorsey coaching tree he started his career with dorsey at paulding county and then was with him at the kitchen before getting his first head coaching job at walton man that's a great comparison he just like larry brown he just goes and and wins and wins and everywhere he goes he's had great success and what a year he's had here in his first year in grayson so the grayson rams in their green won the opening toss they have deferred until the second half so mill creek will receive the opening kickoff this is just the second all-time meeting between these two teams even though they're separated by only 22 miles and they both are in gwinnett county they played in the 2014 state playoffs and grayson was a 24-6 winner over mill creek committed uh completed 55 of his passes for 2309 yards 30 touchdowns and seven interceptions [Applause] that's plumber in motion behind the line they're going to throw it on the very first play to edmond graham and graham is gonna be driven out of bounds at the 22-yard line by d'angelo gibbs as we take a look at mill creek on offense led by their center tyler fannin he's the number nine rated center in the country and he's committed to virginia and among the banks and wide receivers number 12 ace williams a school record 11 touchdown catches this season [Applause] second down and six turley to the air again and knocked down nearly intercepted by owen papo the linebacker as we take a look at grayson on defense ellison hubbard espn three star he's got 17 offers breon dixon the outside linebacker espn four star number eight rated outside linebacker in the country and in the secondary two of the best players in the entire nation d'angelo gibbs number two rated athlete in the nation he's a five-star jamias williams a four-star corner committed to south carolina third down turley back to pass and goes to the far sideline incomplete ace williams his intended target demetrius murray on the coverage and mill creek with the three and out yeah matt great job right there by the brace and the defensive front on that blitz right there made him hurry to throw and get it out of there this is what we talked about in the pre-game in the uh in the extra point segment uh that again grace and defense wanting to keep the ball out of mill creek's offenses hands and avoid those long drives and here they are a quick three and out to start the game evan sturgel standing deep to receive the kick for grayson matt campbell is the punter and the kick was blocked goes straight up in the air i don't know whether they touched it or not but they got heavy pressure and that ends up being an eight-yard punt great pressure by the punt coverage team for the grayson rams and matt campbell's kid goes straight up into the air yeah watch it here uh get that bad snap there a little bit of fumble collects it finally and yeah it was touched right there uh he did get a hand on it couldn't quite get the number uh but what a big turn of events here in the opening minute for the grayson rams so mill creek goes on offense with the ball at the 31-yard line and there's their four-star quarterback chase bryce he is committed to clemson number 13 rated pocket passer quarterback in the nation toss goes to jamis williams and williams still on his feet inside the 20-yard line and finally dropped inside the 20s shaka hayward was the one who made the tackle oh watch this play right here the quick flip right there and williams one of the fastest players you're gonna see anywhere this guy's had such a great career and feels like he's been in high school ball for six years he's just been just a thorn in opponent sides big play in the first play from scrimmage here for grayson star from archer he's one of the big eight transfers into the grayson program this season there you'll see him line up at the top of your screen in the slot first and ten from the 17-yard line and a time-out called by grayson so chase bryce sees something that he doesn't like and they burn a timeout early here's a look at the grayson rams on offense they have three big d1 prospects tony gray the number 12 rated offensive tackle in the country we mentioned will taylor number 11 rated center in the country even though he plays right guard for the rams and jalen jackson is an espn three-star offensive guard himself and among the wide receivers and the backs choose your poison folks kurt taylor the running backs committed to michigan evan sturgels their top wide receiver jamis williams committed to south carolina and we mentioned deangelo gibbs who's the number two rated athlete in the entire country so many weapons on both sides here matt so the early time out by grayson as they got a deflected punt that went eight yards and took over at the 31-yard line on their first play they go 14 yards and now they have it first and ten from the 17. on that block pun i think it might have been uh ellison hubbard number 58 got a hand on that great play so first and ten from the 17. ball is deflected up into the air by david milan the defensive end they were trying to get the ball on a screen to sturgill as we take a look at mill creek on defense iola ogun seymour 10 offers including cincinnati jake stewart their mike linebacker team leading 85 tackles on the season victor hayward is committed to georgia state and all four of those guys will end up playing college ball jonathan gibson has offers from auburn west virginia and maryland trying to connect right there and get the ball to kirk taylor and now after a 14-yard gain on their very first play from scrimmage the last two passes from bryce have either been deflected or off the mark okay i just missed his mark right there the first play great play by the defense see what he's got here in third down third and long now gonna make this make the stand up for something bryce goes for the end zone touchdown the tight end elijah barnes with his fourth touchdown catch of the season and 92 seconds into this game the rams have taken a six nothing lead well what a nice touch right there by your senior chase bryce just an outstanding play put the right where he had to put it great job right there by the senior leader bryce bryce with his 27th touchdown pass of the season and so the rams are able to cash in after that was deflected but right there again just a perfectly drawn up playing one more look at it fakes the run right there nice job by the line given plenty of time barnes runs behind the defense good speed for a tight end and the early 160 lead for the rams chase bryce as we mentioned committed to clemson coach jeff herron says reminds him a little bit of another four-star quarterback he coached when he was at camden county bryce ramsey who went on to the university of georgia short kick going to be taken at the 10 yard line [Applause] and the return by ace williams up to the 30 and that's where the mill creek hawks will go on offense jeremiah smith making the tackle on the special teams for the rams so cameron turley back out there with his offense they averaged 40 points per game through their first 13. they have not scored less than 30 points in a game this season they've scored 41 plus in six games this year but they went three and out on their opening possession [Music] nothing doing on the handoff to joe thomas as he picks up about a yard on the play matthew greenway the pony the hybrid linebacker safety making the stop one more look at it right here again this look at this grayson defensive front right here look at the pursuit from coming up from behind right there number six doing a great job matthew greenway as you mentioned and they same thing again and now you've got a third and long all of a sudden you know grayson always has had that outstanding defense maybe we'll come out to play here in the opening minutes owen papo making the stop right there number seven owen papo is a sophomore with 33 offers already georgia bama tennessee auburn considered his leader the sophomore 61 tackles on the season for papo six tackles for loss five sacks it's third down and nine mill creek has gone nowhere on their first five snaps from scrimmage and turley is running for his life throwing out of bounds another three and out for mill three wow they have not been able to move the ball whatsoever against the grayson rams on their first two possessions yeah they sure haven't we talked again about how they've been known as you mentioned for these long drives and controlling the tempo of the game uh and six plays and two punts to the second point here coming uh so far for the hawks this has been very uncharacteristic great job with the grayson defense matt campbell will punt again again a heavy rush this time he gets it away to jamias williams at the 30-yard line and jamias williams up to the 37 and that's where the rams will go on offense for the second time tonight already leading by a score of six nothing all right all right here's your look at buford buford was trailing kell three nothing anthony grant up the middle 15 yards buford now leading 7-3 over the kell longhorns at tom ryden stadium stockbridge also up 7-0 and they fended off a fake punt by rome in the first quarter so stockbridge on the board on a long touchdown pass as well guys all right nelly first and ten for the rams at their own 37. bryce back to pass and that is going to complete the ride just saw they're going to rule that incomplete nice defensive play out on the edge by matthew winston who was their player of the game last week in their 31-28 victory against mckeecher yeah just a big play right here watch the uh reading the quarterback's eyes again that's a tough play that takes a long time to develop such a long throw across the field and a good call right there by the official he was all over the ball no fumble he never had control of it good call second intent second down and ten chase bryce only six of nine passing from 90 yards last week in their trouncing of caulkwood county toss goes to jamias williams nothing doing for jamis williams right there david milan making the tackle we talked about again just this rushing offense and uh at first and then first play might have been a pitch actually a forward pass that might be their first run i believe in the game here grayson yep all right and then and they go nowhere so nice job that first time they tried to run they were up against this uh amazing middle creek defense uh here to start yeah mill creek's defense has allowed an average of just 23 yards rushing per game 301 yards rushing total in 13 games this season play action bryce fires great catch by sturgel across midfield and down to the 43-yard line sturgel has been their top wide receiver the last two years that's his 33rd catch of the season right there well we talked to coach jeff herron again and watched chase bryce and he had high praise when we talked to him this week that's the kind of ball that you see in division one quarterback throw watch this right on the money threads the needle puts it right where it has to be it's not into the incomplete or it's caught it's not gonna be picked off great play on both ends right there and grayson's on the move again stargel sturgel pardon me 410 yards receiving this season bryce looks one way and then the other and now runs it he's going to go down at the 42-yard line no running room right there victor hayward who's committed to georgia state making the open field tackle for the hawks i do like the way bryce has really matured here uh and you know multiple years as a starter for the rams that was a smart move right there he saw again that the uh the defensive back had jumped into coverage right there didn't like what he had tucked and run and what was kind of a busted play he winds up getting four yards out second down and six ball on the 39 they got to get to the 33. playcock at four and the play got blown dead on the handoff to kurt taylor [Applause] a little confusion there against grayson and yeah [Applause] eddie smith is our referee tonight that'll be a five yard mark off against the rams [Applause] so second down and 11 from the 44. bryce was 6756 yards passing in his career and under a heavy rush gonna fire deep across the middle and incomplete sturgill the target and a flag is out yeah that's gonna be defensive uh holding there's no question about it but what a great job by bryce to chase price good strength back there at quarterback to avoid uh the the blitz could have been sacked for a big loss instead he gets out of that throws a big play and raising could take advantage here of the penalty [Music] [Applause] jonathan gibson the junior who has seven offers including auburn west virginia and maryland got flagged for that penalty yeah look at bryce with a great arm strength there to avoid that tackle and uh just right before that uh there's no question he grabbed on it with both hands past interference and it was right in front of the referee there's nobody else around it's kind of easy call to make grayson take advantage of the first down moving to six so first and ten now ball at the 29.

6 43 to play in the opening quarter grayson already with a six-nothing lead cashing in after partially blocking a punt williams goes in motion behind the line they look his way they fire right to him and williams going to be dropped at the 29 right at the line of scrimmage victor hayward another nice open field tackle for the hawks pretty similar to the play that uh our friend chuck smith showed up there at the beginning get your athletes in motion out there in the flat and blockers in front of him good job though by mill creek to stuff it out and hold him to a minimal game hayward with 63 tackles on the season six tackles for loss and eight sacks they expected big things from him this season he was the only returning linebacker out of there two deep from last year's 13-1 season second down curt taylor rumbles to the 25-yard line jack griffith in on that tackle along with demetrius rheas grayson finding a little bit of success here's the play right here we talked about again the play right there at the middle the chuck was showing us earlier he's got options but he's handing it to his uh back put your offensive line do the rest it's a nice five-yard game kurt taylor is anything generated on offense we spent a lot of time in the pre-game show larry talking about this mill creek defense but what about the grayson defense they have held mill creek to two consecutive three announced to start this game and now the hawks are down nine points yeah i tell you what i think if you ask anybody here in the stadium if they would have gone three and out their first two drives they would have said there's no way graham gonna take the jet sweep and edmond graham in trouble jamias williams gonna drive him out of bounds oh that's just great pursuit by this grayson defense showing their athletic ability to really stretch that out and never let him get to the corner again you want to kind of move around keep the ball moving go side to side but you've got that great speed on the corners on the edges it makes it difficult yeah shannon jarvis said no dancing no going sideways against this grayson defense you can't beat him sideways you got to get vertical and graham had no chance to go vertical on him right there pass thrown complete the ground edmund graham looking for a block doesn't get it plumber couldn't get his man and he gets dropped back there by jalen alexander well now you got another third and long here i mean you lost two two yards and that's uh that first play again trying to get them all out of his face but look at the great pursuit by the defense love what they're trying to do right here number 13. uh connor wilson doing a great job i'm sorry aaron brawley there number 13. so third down and 12. turley fires and complete ace williams big gainer for the hawks across the 50 and down to the 44-yard line ace williams with a huge play and jamis williams might have been injured on that tackle yeah let's see what happens he is still down on the ground as we launch the replay right here great job here get brawley out into space williams with a nice job right here and watch the great move here to avoid the tackle and then here's williams and williams is still down looked like he might have been grabbing his left leg wow that is horrible news right there for grayson and jamias williams as he is reaching for his left knee and he immediately upon falling reached for it and did not move so hoping here that jamis williams has not been injured seriously but he looks like he's in a great amount of pain right now and he's such an electric player mat as you know on both sides of the ball uh here's the tackle one more time to see if we can see what happens here number one williams right there on your screen tomas williams he's already down yeah look at him if whatever the injury is it happened before he grabbed on to uh ace williams and made the tackle they've got him up and walking right now but you can see how he's clutching [Applause] [Music] the hands of the trainers right there maybe not his knee it looks like he's kind of grabbing towards his hamstring and not his knee [Applause] we'll keep an eye on that he's a big part of this grazing team as you mentioned big part of the archer program before this year i feel like he's been around forever yeah well he was a 1500 yard rusher for archer last year he's had a smaller roll on offense here with the grayson rams this year primarily because they just have so many weapons and he comes off the field we'll see who takes his spot over there on that corner position looks like it's going to be clinton thanes [Applause] we'll try to get an update on jamis williams as soon as we can but first and ten now for the hogs at the 44 yard line after the big gainer by ace williams made his 30th catch of the year turley heavy rush stands in there fires complete to ace williams again they go right at thames the guy who replaced jamias williams in henon who has been a starter this year and ace williams moves the sticks again for the middle creek hawks yeah i think they see something on that side man watch this again go through his progressions nice job williams the veteran a great play right here that's back-to-back big plays for him and suddenly this honks off and starting to move a little bit first and ten joe thomas right up the middle thomas gets about five yards on the play now that they've completed a few passes able to get the running game going a little bit thomas they're leading rusher 583 yards this season and off to thomas again not much doing greenway making the tackle for the rams and it's gonna bring up third down in about three so mill creek after consecutive three and outs to start the game finally moving the ball here on offense on their third possession of the first quarter and they need it they're already down two scorers cram in motion the handoff to joe thomas first down joe thomas thomas across the 20-yard grayson lead to 9-6 well that's exactly what the hawks needed as you mentioned after back to back three announcements to have a drive and simply it's not the long drives that we're used to a very short drive but it doesn't matter bottom line great job of mixing the passing run maybe taking advantage of the absence of jameis williams down there to get into the end zone brenton king who's 64 of 65 on his pats this year [Applause] lined up for the p-a-t we have an off-sides call against grayson edmund graham with his 11th touchdown of the season third rushing and they really missed him a year ago he was injured and did not get to play in their semifinal loss against talkwood county last year nine to seven here's your tcsg touchdown replay yeah take a look right here at edmund graham this is like you said just the jet sweep right here sees a seam inside again great blocking here mill creek the offensive line doing a much better job of opening the holes here on the ground on this uh points per game during the playoffs finally getting on the board here late in the first quarter let's kick it nelly all right how about some old school dalton and valdosta they are scoreless and they're going to go at it they're going to chew up the turf this is going to be one of those great games but remember guys dalton is without two offensive starters including their top receiver for an incident that happened tuesday night matlan said they were not going to play those two players so right now dalton's offense a little hampered they are scoreless in the second quarter also macon county leading eci by the score of 7-6 stockbridge and roamer tied and then rome equalizes there's your equalizer right there at barron stadium stockbridge and rome they are tied at seven that's kicking it this round back upstairs jamias williams is back deep so apparently the injury that he suffered just a few moments ago not severe enough to keep him off the field he will not get a chance to return this one as brenton king kicks it through the back of the end zone another touch back for him a career record 162 touchbacks for brenton king in his career and so grayson will start at the 20-yard line let's see if jameis williams stays in on offense here he gave the thumbs up he's getting the offensive huddle right here i watched him on the sidelines matt he went over and sat down for a moment they worked on it for a minute and then he went to slowly was just riding on the stationary bike uh i wonder if that series had gone any longer uh if he would have been back on for the grace and defense uh it turns out mill creek scored and he's back in right now out there uh split wide left for uh the grayson offense and uh chase price handoff goes to kurt taylor nothing doing for taylor as they try to run against the stingy mill creek defense jake stewart with the tackle for the hawks nelly what you got well when they took jamias williams off the field the training staff looked at the outside ligament of the left knee did some simple massage and then that was where larry picked him up had him work the bike and go from there so let's see how sturdy that left knee is going to be flag on the field offsides mill creek you know nelly uh thanks for that update uh watching a little bit he's still favoring it just a little bit uh really in communication with the coaching staff triple coverage on plummer and again jamias williams was the closest guy to the football yeah not a good sequence right there for the mill creek uh hawks they can't take advantage of that fumble recovery they're inside the five forced to punt and so for grayson now you flip the field uh you didn't score last time but you should get some pretty good field position out of this so matt campbell on the punt again this will be his third punt of the game averaged 40.2 yards per puck this season a net of just under 40. williams and sturgeon will run around the 40. of mill creek to receive this punt but all things considered it's been a win for mill creeks thus far because they've recovered a fumble of the three and kept them out of the end zone campbell another punt that goes straight up into the air not a good one let's see where they're gonna spot it they're gonna spot it at the 25 yard line that ends up being a 22-yard kick and so great field position for grayson here less than two they were running straight wing t like he has done for most of his career like he did so successfully at camden county that taylor would have had a 1500 yard rushing season as it was just under 900 the board with another touchdown to make it 15 to 7. we just talked about again looking for a run right here nice job quick out you see the linebackers are coming on the blitz taylor using his blockers well and coast untouched into the end zone and another rams touchdown kirk taylor with his 18th touchdown of the season his fourth receiving van pamelon won for the p-a-t and grayson has a 16-7 lead kurt taylor teams up with chase bryce and jalen jackson shoves the man out of the way clearing the pass for the rams second touchdown of the night at 60 miles per hour you go the length of a special teams tackle made by darius martin and so mill creek has spent most of the game bottled up in their own end they did have the 181 yard touchdown drive when they finally got things clicking on defense needs to make a stop and force a punch here grayson has pretty much had its way in most of the game here on offense big play here for the hawks jeff herron joining mike hodges t mcferrin and line up three guys two guys blocking and you see him right there the two block and the third receive and takes all the way in for the touchdown sturgeon will adjust his second touchdown catch of the season even though he's their top receiver by catches he missed about a month of the season with the concussion late in september early october and now 23-7 grayson out on top of the undefeated mill three hawks by 16 points we still have 418 to play in the quarter yeah if you're the hawks this drive suddenly becomes crucial because because remember uh grayson deferred the opening kickoff so they're going to get the ball first in the second half it's a really important offensive series coming up right here for mill creek they need to get something on the board and fast bryce is now 10 of 16 for 174 and three touchdowns and we're still in the second quarter van pamelon's kickoff is gonna be taken at the nine yard line by edmund graham and graham martin gonna run him out of bounds along with others at the 33-yard line and mill creek does they need to put together some kind of a drive they need to get points obviously they also need to chew up some clock and not give the ball back to grayson in this half if they can avoid it that's right you know one of the keys we talked about earlier was grayson's defense keeping them off the field and preventing those long drives a plus to that they've done exactly that tonight first and ten ball at the 34-yard line [Applause] been a tough first half we we're told that would be uh quarter you know it would be running back by committee for mill creek tonight bill stewart the defensive coordinator in the dark pull over there for the mill creek hawks the ball is dropped by joe thomas and a flag is out as well [Music] [Music] it's against grayson let's get the call here [Applause] so a defensive holding call against the rams in an automatic first down for the hawks at the 43-yard line it's about a 10-yard pickup man on that penalty yeah it's a five yard from the spot of the foul paul and turley goes to the air plumber gets leveled and the ball is down and scooped up fly ball grayson going to score quinton james with the scoop and the score and grayson has a 29-7 lead well how about this grayson defense right there just what a stick that was all james right there who did that this is exactly what the hawks did not need your tcsg touchdown replay and watch this receiver right here it's number five jack plumber gets hit immediately and thane just takes the ball away from him yeah he took it right out of his hands as plummer was going down he was losing possession yeah and thames snatched it right out of his hands 44 yards on the steal and score [Music] and grayson has a 30-7 lead and mill creek is in a lot of trouble right now this is what they did not need watch this again quentin thames number 23 low angle here field level coming right at you great job he's got the ball in his hands right there if you're thinking well maybe you know he was already on the ground it was kind of shared possession already at that point there's a wider angle look from up high this side of the field he's got the ball right there [Applause] yeah i think maybe an interception which is handy it's not a fumble yeah it goes as an interception that's what it will be [Music] second interception of the season for quentin thames i think is how they will officially score it either way it's great news for grayson and really lousy news for mill creek as they're down 23 points yeah and this is uh you know now if you're gonna force this offense we talked about is scoring more than 42 points per game during the playoffs um but demand is just the one touchdown of just only a handful of first downs and that offensive juggernaut we've talked about the sustains the long drives and holds on to the ball we've only seen one drive so far several punts in the game here's the interception uh four punts in the game it's it's it's been a tough first half and uh big adjustments can be made and fast and now not only that you've got to score some offense now you've got to come to your defense let's make some stops as well a feeding frenzy for grayson three touchdowns here in the second quarter to open up a big lead short kick taken at the 23-yard line that's a fair catch made by mill creek brock skinner with that fair catch [Music] and mill creek in a lot of trouble offensively even more so than we said it just a few moments ago really needs to put a drive together to score points here and need some time off the clock [Music] yeah see us thought they were a minute ago out but only another touchdown more in the hole and now on flag breon dixon slams joe thomas to the ground at the line of scrimmage flag out on the play it's on the offensive [Music] out of control right now for the hawks see if we can see it here on the replay and there it is number 75 right there going down looks like that was it swerved through the flag [Applause] yeah 75 was the one engaged low chop block means that a defender is engaged by a blocker below the waist and above the waist [Music] first and long now joe thomas not going anywhere well and now making the tackle i'm sorry matami cut you off and now the grace and defense they're just pinning their ears back right now when you've got the advantage of a big lead um you can be more aggressive and not that they weren't aggressive before even more aggressive now on defense and really coming at him um you know you need milk creek right now to try to uh you know 18-yard pickup so this high-powered grace and offense gonna get the ball back again and with two timeouts remaining in the half matt campbell on the punt again he's had one good punt and a couple of really bad ones and a timeout called by grayson trying to save some of this clock i thought they would have called that earlier i'm surprised he let it run down to the play cox at 11 seconds quite a few seconds run off before they call that timeout man grayson rams 20 11 state champions led by robert kimdichi the number one prospect in the country at the time went on to play for ole miss and now yards so you know you don't have to have a touchdown here they can get a you know two or three first downs maybe try to get a field goal if the drive stalls just to add to this lead he's got the leg for it chase bryce with three touchdown passes in the first half to lead grayson to a big lead i'm guessing they're going for more here pass throw and complete the sturgeon fifth catch of the half for sturgill matthew winston drives him out of bounds tugging at the football as he did it matthew winston great story 32 on his a.c.t has been offered by air force in every ivy league school in fact harvard and yale both at practice on monday to watch him his dad works with the atlanta falcons his dad kevin winston the senior director of player affairs but great story this year really hadn't played that much until this year and now he's got college offers all over the place second down and one bryce they're going for the home run out there caught by shaw and ball is out incomplete couldn't hold on to it shaka hayward separated shaw from the ball when that was almost another spectacular play once again chase bryce just a great touch in the ball watch this throws it down field right on the money as you said a little bit under thrown and that gives the defender time to come in and knock that ball away and prevent the big game third down and one from the 44. shaw the senior wide receiver came into the night 17 catchers he's been offered by clemson and a first down carry right there for kurt taylor as he's able to get his body across the 35 and up to the uh pardon me up across the 45 to the 46. so first and ten one timeout remaining for the rams still plenty of time for this deep strike quick strike offense of chase bryce and grayson and movement on the line that was shaw who moved up there in the slot that'll be a five-yard penalty against the rams you know a big challenge and a big concern for jeff herron and the grayson rams when he took over was the style of offense for the last two years they've been a spread team up until then mickey khan was a winged tea guy but they went spread when they had chase bryce at quarterback but jeff herron has always been a wing t guy so he had to kind of put that off on the shelf and run this offense these players have been running for the last two years they do integrate some concepts of the wing team but by and large they are pretty much a spread team first and 15 now at the 41. sitting down in a hole jamias williams with the catch first down and more jamias williams found a little spot in the zone defense made the grab and ran to the sideline well to illustrate your point he's got to get the three white house same side of the field there and we've seen this so many times the thing is they changed it at this time it was two other receivers out and blocked and the guy stays in the closest guy is williams and watch him here he doesn't turn our field instead he knows he's got good speed he's got some blockers he goes around the edge then turns it up field gets a very nice gain and again just a 121 still to go already at the 42 of mill creek they've had a chance to get six more they stay at it still plenty of time here for the rams [Applause] toss goes to williams beats one man to the backfield another around the edge look at zamayus williams he's gone touchdown shaka hayward had a chance to try to wrap him up instead he tried to push him out of bounds but jamias williams too strong [Music] hit a little knee in that injury there the first half be careful of that what a first half for grayson 42 yard touchdown pass since that was a forward pass and it's 36-7 how about bryce four touchdown passes wow grayson had outscored their opponents 54-16 on average in their first three playoff games and it looks like they're in route to doing that here against a previously undefeated 13-0 mill creek team and talk about turning it on matt in the last three minutes and seven seconds three grayson touchdowns the two chase prize passes and the interception return for a score as well all in just about three minutes this game has turned so quickly here at grayson while grayson went down to moultrie last week and put a running clock on caulkwood county the two-time defending state champions and they're enroute to putting a running clock on mill creek here in this game tonight and we're still just in the second quarter we're going for two that's bryce in the game yeah it looks like the rams gonna go for two here they did miss a p-a-t earlier cameron thompson gets the two-point conversion it is 38-7 [Music] 42-yard touchdown pass from bryce to williams on our tcsg touchdown replay yeah we saw they run this play the very first play of the game and look at that it's a quick snap it's a good timing at play right there where the receiver is already in motion he just kind of flips the ball in front of him and that was a play right there hayward had a chance to wrap him up instead just tried to shove him out of bounds with a frustration right there i'm going to look at it right here here's jamias williams great speed great blocking out front again you know grayson's receivers block as well down field as anybody and that creates so many many more opportunities downfield for the rams one more look at it ground level coming right at you here's williams look how close he is to the sideline right here you got to wrap him up you can't try to force him out he's way too strong and grayson is rolling here toward halftime they have totally dismantled a previously undefeated mill creek team and i say previously they're still undefeated at 13-0 but they're down 31 points and we're not yet at halftime a five play 65 yard drive capped by the 42 yard little shovel pass to jamaius williams returned by ace williams up to the 35-yard line mill creek does have all three timeouts remaining larry would you try to get to the locker room here and regroup or would you take your uh shots downfield with three timeouts and 65 seconds left i think you got to try to get something um because again like as you said grayson gets the ball first in the second half you only have so many possessions left in this game your defense hasn't stopped grayson so i think you've got to try to find a way to to get eight or nine yards at least uh every play here trying to get something on the board before halftime i agree with you totally turley play action got time looking downfield man wide open it's caught at the 29-yard line by plummer who had the ball stolen from him on the last pass to him this time he holds on to it first and ten for the hawks of the 24. now here's the thing to mill creek that's maybe the first time it had the time or even tried to look downfield nice job by turley gets a nice time nice uh touch on the ball right here good job by palmer to hold on to it and mill creek let's get a touchdown here before halftime that's a great point by you jamis williams put a big strong whack on him and plumber held on to it might have been shaken up a little bit on the play yeah plumber to the air to the tight end and that's a catch down to the one yard line ball out of bounds at the two tied in adrian jackson with the big catch he nearly fumbled it out of the end zone though which would have been a touchback fortunately for them it goes out at the two well it would have been fitting way this half has gone for the hawks but a great job here first great hands right here uh with the defender all in his face and then the presence of mine to keep going nice defense to pop it out that's a great play back to back bang bang plays by the hawks and they're down uh inside the the five yard line now with a chance to put it in you know where was this vertical offense all along adrian jackson with the seventh catch of the season for him and it's a big one it gives mill creek a first and goal to go at the two yard line they just use their first timeout so they have two remaining with 32 seconds left in the half and you were right on the money i mean you got to start doing the math they couldn't afford just to take a knee because you're down 31 points which means you're down five scores yeah yeah and i mean are you gonna get five scores right in the are you gonna get five possessions in the second half to score on each possession right and you because your defense has not been able to shut down grayson right you may need seven or eight possessions right uh the way it's gone so yeah so let's kick it with nelly it was 14-10 at the half buford and kell going back and forth and we got flags on the field right now so that game is now third quarter once again beaufort leading 14-10 so we're seeing right now in 5a that beaufort on the right-hand side of your bracket they're up by four stockbridge and rome tied at 14 back upstairs first and goal to go here for the hogs at the two yard line got their jump bone package in there gonna throw the ball instead and try to get the ball to the tight end magnani and threw it behind him interesting they lined up mcnainy in the backfield the tight end like an extra h-back blocker and then ran a route for him yeah i like the play call matt to try to get something in quickly you have two timeouts you're gonna get four shots at it here just do it behind him only lost three seconds on the play second down and goal [Applause] turley off the hands of mcaney again mac and manny had it again and this time it's off his hands i don't know if that was deflected or not and that was tough to see first one is just a mess throw and see if you see any of any uh grayson defender put a hand on it no just off his hands yeah [Applause] grayson faithful both stands packed tonight great atmosphere georgia high school football always one of the best in the country [Applause] third down and goal do they throw it again movement this time and now it's going to be third and goal from the seven wow mill creek shooting themselves in the foot down here yeah when they get a timeout first [Applause] grayson called a timeout before the movement so that's a break for mill creek i thought for sure they had movement before the snap yep so they catch a break right there so now it's going to remain third down and goal from the two as grayson used their final timeout of the half so larry they've twice gone to the tight end mackinanny instead of running the ball on first and goal from the two second and goal from the two now it's third and goal from the two what would you do uh i i try to run it in this time try to put it in if you don't make it i try again i'm not sure if field goal helped at this point you're this close yeah you gotta go for it they've just had they've had very little success running the ball in tight quarters against grayson i mean they've had they've hit a couple of big plays in the running game but typically after they've thrown some completion they have i would roll turley out he seems to do well he's got you know more space um again make make these grace and athletes chase after you you know uh take the hand off run the other way try to create some space and and create some misdirection so you can find somebody across the back of the end zone wide open thomas in the backfield he's the only one too split to the top on third and goal graham in motion they'll fake a handoff to him throw to the end zone touchdown adrian jackson the other tight end that was four straight pass attempts to tight ends jackson with the big catch down to the two went to mcenany twice and then they go back to jackson to get the touchdown and make it 38-13 big play there as we talked about that's exactly what mill creek needed to stay in this game right here and to stop the run would have been 29 consecutive points scored by the rams brenton king for the p-a-t d'angelo gibbs jumps up there and tries to block it can't and it's 38-14 with 20 seconds to play in the half as we take a look at our tcsg touchdown replay yeah one more look right here and boy the blitz was coming too turley did had no time to spare the nice touch right there is tied in leaking out back behind the linebackers and for the score great angle right here from uh high above the end zone nice camera work there by our guys turley once again off the back foot this time he's on the money and mill creek staying alive in this game had to have that score and they got it and quickly 45 seconds six play 65-yard drive two big catches on that play turley to plummer turley to jackson and then on third down and goal from the two turley went back to jackson for two yards in the touchdown and it's a 24 point game with 20 seconds to play in the half and you made the point already and it's well taken grayson gets the ball first so that made scoring a touchdown right there even more important right right as grayson will get the second half kickoff [Applause] [Music] kick will not be returned so grayson will have it at the 20-yard line no timeouts remaining for the ram so we'll see if they just take a knee and get to the locker room up with a big 24 point lead we'll kick it one more time here in the first half as we check in on dalton and valdosta with john nelson and dalton valdosta it's more points on the board for the wildcats making that 300 plus mile drive 14 to nothing short field created for valdosta alan rodemaker in his first year were for what for valdosta is a little less than two quarters of getting the wildcats back to a championship game leading 14-nothing against dalton back upstairs all right no pressure in that job so first and ten for the rams and they will hand off right up the middle to curt taylor and that looks like that will be the final play [Applause] making the tackle and the time will tick off here in the first half by and large it's been an explosive first half for the grayson rams they scored offensively they scored defensively they scored 29 points in the second quarter and have a 38-14 lead as we send it down to john nelson thank you very much matt here with the coach i know that before we got to about a minute left or up by 31 everything was going right and i know that you're thinking about that sixth place 65-yard drive to end it that's frustrating we just relaxed uh we gave up two pass plays and you know i'm i'm very upset i'm not happy camber with our defense because they relaxed and you can't relax at this point in the season against the team of that quality they're not going to quit and so that will be the talk when we go in there at halftime but you know we all got a little giddy things are going great and we just go out there and we let them drive down the field score on us and that's not us somehow how happy a camper are you about your offense and how they were humming in the first half well you know we did some good things we made some mistakes too we turned the ball over or dropped it more than coming in from drew finally it's mill creek's year 10 years since i played it's time for the dome finally they got a tall task that lies ahead in the second half then we have travis chiming in watching three games at once in mcdonald georgia that's awesome and the trash talking it has begun between both of these fan sections mill creek and the grayson rams so mill creek started off earlier this week saying hey rams riot we're going to need more space than this to sit in this friday night the rams responded you all need any more room just come on over to our side sit with us we'll be up at 50. we'll be up by 50 at the halftime not quite 50 but almost there then mill creek responds back it's getting a little chippy out there it's getting pretty intense saying you guys could come over on thompson is undefeated they lead jefferson 20-3 in the third quarter elsewhere around the state semi-final action gac leading peach county 10 to nothing it is cedar grove over criss county big 41 nothing at the half benedictine top ranked in double a leading callaway 27-3 it is fitzgerald over hateful charter 35-6 at the half eagles landing christian academy leads tatino square 14-7 both those teams unbeaten as are these two fellowship christian and prince avenue right now fellowship christian leading it 25-7 in the third quarter and it's hard to believe that this is our last outdoor choice for georgia and this week you hit the road to stockbridge to take a look at an undefeated tiger team and there was a team that had had a lot of long years before the current coaching staff showed up and when i got there i was reminded that that coaching staff and the head coach have a link to my past as well before kevin whitley and his staff showed up in stockbridge in 2009 the most wins in the season was seven picked up three times 1968 1982 and 1993. frankly the team had more ties eight than most ever wins in a season and the tigers had only been to the playoffs once since the school opened in 1964. but with this staff the team has had double-digit wins the last five years and have been to the quarters each time winning 12 last year and winning 13 this time around the difference i think when parents see that you care about their kids they're more inclined to help you so i think that was the biggest thing just being a trust factor the first group of seniors that i had i probably was their fourth coach in four years so when the kid when the coaches won and done one and done one and done kind of lose faith in the system so i had to let them know without planning on being here for a while and i've been here eight years now so things worked out well the tigers consistently score in the 30s and have had four shutouts into the semifinal round for this group of seniors they've been a part of the tiger's success from their eighth grade year we were a team that had a lot of guys look up to i want to say that we're supposed to be followers back then i don't want to say it's a bad thing but it's a good thing to have upcoming seniors leading you to show you the right way we knew since january 1st when we've been putting in work we knew that we were going to have a test and we lost a lot of boys so we knew us as seniors we had to step up and play and our main focus the last three or four years we were coming too close and now we want to finish the mission and stop coming close the guys who play at tiger stadium feel that they've been surrounded by doubt and doubters they're changing that especially when they remind you on the field when their helmet meets your number jones county game i hit hit the running back blew him up hit the quarterback and my helmet popped out and i just went crazy andy kelton's point the defense has really been doing some popping tonight they're now tied at 21 in the third quarter and mark i went back into my old yearbook right here this is valhalla lakeside high school kevin whitley graduated two years behind me at the school and i went looking and trey hardnet his assistant right there trey harding right there that's trey hardin the assistant coach for kevin whitley and under no circumstance mark baseball that we'll go with that playing golf getting ready for baseball okay and then dad would make him get a job he also says that okay favorite career moment his favorite career moment [Music] i get to train with state-of-the-art equipment and my instructors are experts in their field getting started was easy and by the time i graduate i'll already be connecting with companies that need my skills the technical college system of georgia creating a better future for you and for georgia i think one of the most valuable things about my experiences in the georgia public school system was the school that i went to was very diverse and so i was really interested in understanding and learning and accepting of a lot of different types of people and i think that's actually really served me tremendous team but we're gonna keep playing and keep battling and we gotta match your speed they have tremendous speed on their team and a lot of athletes and but we do too so we're gonna come in the second half and come out here and play fast and we preach this every week the scoreboard don't matter in regard to our style of play and how we play whether you're up you're down or whatever it's still every place so that's what we're about to do this second half thanks shan thank you john all right send it back upstairs for highlight stats and more stuff guys all right thank you nelly grayson out to a 38-14 lead here as we take a look at the first half highlights that started on mill creek's very first possession got a piece of that first punt and that's the start of things right there man again that ball went about eight yards in ink and then oh grayson coming right back down nice touch here bryce to barnes the kick was no good six nothing lead and then after a field goal by van pamela 19 yard touchdown run by edmond graham made it 9-7 but from then it was all grace in the swing pass to taylor made it 16-7 and then bryce was able to team up with his top wide receiver in the first half evan sturgel yeah a great play here again they run that you know triple with a threat on there on the left side two guys blocking one takes the ball all the way in and then this play unbelievable great job right here by thames just taped up all the way the interception and the return for the touchdown one of 29 straight points scored by grayson 42-yard shovel pass touchdown to jamaius williams fourth touchdown pass to the half for price and his shortest right there it went about two feet 38-7 mill creek got on the board with 20 seconds to play in the half on the pass to jackson to make it 38-14 and you take a look at 305 yards of offense for grayson in the first half alone look at those passing yards matt 258 passing yards again some of those short and then a lot of yards after the catch we talked about the rushing yards of grace and milk creek allowing only 301 rushing yards the entire game not even a factor 47 yards it's more than milk creek gives up on the average again this been just a total domination twice many first downs um it's just been all grayson tonight you know we talked about uh you know we've talked about the the possessions and mill creek facing limited possessions and down five scores actually down four scores now would you onside kick here or is that too obvious i i i wouldn't this to start but i think if you can get something on the board um with your first possession you no i would not i'd gonna kick it deep and and and tell your defense listen you've got to stop him you got i'm not sure that the grayson punted the ball in the first half they did not yeah you've got it you've got to get make your defense to stop somebody and here's the thing as it is right now the mill creek defense has yet to stop grayson so if you on sidekick they're just gonna just gonna take it on down and score a touchdown here's the drive chart of what they did all the way through you can see that um they scored every time except the fumble there inside the five yard line they scored on every uh drive they had grayson did third quarter kickoff is brought to you by heads up georgia don't text and drive distracted drivers take lives and this will not be returned as deangelo gibbs actually that was jaquavious lane pardon me a yard deep in the end zone so the rams will get it at the 20. so we'll see if milk creek can force a three and out here or at the very least slow him down a little bit chase bryce 14 of 21 for 258 and four touchdowns and here's the story about this grayson they can beat you so many ways last week he was only six of nine passing they ran 375 yards against colquitt this week they decided to kill you through the air because that's what the mill creek defense is giving you jamis williams goes in motion and he'll get the first handoff spin barry sanders and he picks up 17 on the first snap of the second half well if they get a running game going uh just it's good it's good night because that's the one thing that milk creek has actually been been able to limit them somewhat one more look at it right here great angle watch the move right here and watch the vision by williams that whole when he first makes this move that hole isn't even open yet he sees the defender the spin moves he wants to get the first down and more such a talented player and if we get a chance to see that again the great block by the pulling guard luke sealed on the play i mean that was textbook [Applause] ronald hopkins on the carry right there nothing doing watch number 51 the cooling guard luke sealed on this play yeah left side guard watch this textbook there and williams squeezes through the hole he creates to game of inches great job right there again every man doing his job big things can happen second down and 11.

[Applause] bryce under pressure gonna take a sack back at the 30-yard line well that's big for mill creek i wouldn't flex just yet you got a long way to go but what a great job there by the defense because again we've saw him twice in the first half where the hawks defense had him behind the line of scrimmage and he managed to make positive yards out of it great job right here didn't account for positive yards we talked about the pregame about how they they're known to hold onto the ball in these long prolonged drives of eight nine minutes they can't do that with this they've got to make sure they score and score quickly because they need a lot of touchdowns jamar hall now lines up in the backfield they throw complete the graham out on the edge and graham up to the 49-yard line papo making the tackle along with d'angelo gibbs they pick up about four on the play that's a play that's been successful for mill creek all season but just the speed of this secondary of grayson makes it very hard to turn that into a big game because they do pursue so well out there in the flat second down and five jamar hall with his first carry of the night and shannon jarvis told us that they would be using jamar hall and jonathan gibson at running back they'd use anybody they needed to to try to win the game hauls their starting safety [Applause] there's no tomorrow if you can't get this one so here's the positive they're actually moving the ball after not having much success for most of the first half back-to-back drives here uh but they have got an end to grace in territory and jamar hall has committed to furman he picked up only one on that play right there abdul who came into the ball game their leading tackler with 71 stops on the season i'd love to see them go downfield here second down and nine start taking some shots downfield if you can they kind of get a bigger chunk of yards and move this this ball a little faster gotta have at least four scores yep [Music] turley ball this drive mandates that they get a touchdown on this yeah they swing it out here and the tight end jackson gets blown up on the play see i mean it's a completion and yeah it's a success but you've call brings up fourth and seven but you you had to do that and you gotta go for it here they've burned four and a half minutes on this drive turley going downfield looked like there was holding in a flag as that was yeah jamaius williams was clearly holding ace williams on that route that'll be another first down for mill creek and you know i mean that's a good penalty by jameis williams smart about matt you know the math doesn't work if it takes you six minutes to score every touchdown you're not going to win this game first and ten ball at the 21-yard line after the holding call handoff jay thomas right up the middle joe thomas still on his feet drives into the end zone and new life for mill [Applause] [Music] a great job here suddenly the hawks have scored back-to-back touchdowns around halftime the tchc touchdown replay joel thomas great blocking in the middle huge hole wants the power here and the presence of mind to to take the hit stay on his feet and still power his way and carry a defender the final eight yards into the endzone that is a power move right there by thomas and he keeps milk creek here in the game uh they get the gig they can convert here we've got a williams right place right time and almost a huge loss right there but williams still shifty and hard to bring down and they are going to kick man pamela who hit a 41-yard field goal back in the first jarvis said come out at halftime that his hawks hey you know what we don't care what the score is we're gonna keep playing the same way they have been much more aggressive here in the second half gibson picks it up at the 10-yard line after having it fall at his feet and gibson's going to be tackled at the 18-yard line i think they'll spot it more like the 17. so once again not great field position for mill creek and now the clock is their enemy they're down three scores are they going to get three more possessions in this game well they've gotta again score faster they can't take it was almost five minutes on that last touchdown drive and they scored a touchdown that's great but again you got to score faster and on top of that you said by not stopping grayson's offense you're also not flipping the field so still an uphill climb here for mill [Applause] creek blitz is coming they pick it up downfield for ace williams looked like there was some contact downfield but no flag this time clinton thames on the coverage yeah but i like that call again that they you've got to go vertical i believe we have an illegal shift too here against mill creep in the five yard penalty so the penalty is going to be declined and make it second down and 10. a good call your defense has played well most of this half make him stop him on two plays like him a third extra play to try to get sideline all five of the offensive linemen for the mill creek hogs have been offered by somebody it's impressive look at the rosters of these two teams and to see the number of players already sideline i'm not sure that may be on the hawks sideline let's see as they sort this out definitely a face mask though against grayson on the tackle shannon jarvis what a job he's done with that mill creek program and sportsmanlike on grayson as well both flags on grayson jeff herron stepped into a controversy with the transfers and all that when he took the job back in the spring said this team from where it's come in their opening loss against img on national television to where they are here today probably the biggest transformation he's ever had with any of his teams in a single season said the players didn't know each other in a lot of cases they didn't like each other the parents were bickering the coaches were new they didn't know each other but what a job he's done to navigate some difficult circumstances here tonight big mark off here against grayson with the double penalty the face mask and the unsportsmanlike so two 15-yard penalties tacked on stacked on top of each other and mill free has it at the 23-yard line with 41 seconds to play in the third quarter on what a turn of events it would be if mill creek can get this in here before the end of the quarter and go down only two touchdowns handoff joe thomas and darius martin you see again trying to rip and strip that was papo reaching in there and trying to take away the ball [Music] a lot of times what can happen on those rip and strip tackles and you see a man down for grayson that is ellison hubbard the espn three-star defensive tackle he's got 17 offers he's shaken up on the play i hope he's okay but this stoppage and play really helps mill creek that clock was winding down to the end of the uh the quarter but this gives him a chance to go to the sidelines and regroup and try to find it maybe is there a quick strike play that'll work to get him in the end zone again you see wake forest boston college iowa state minnesota rutgers all reportedly among his leaders team leading 24 quarterback pressures on the season for the 6-2 260-pound senior defensive tackle but what i was going to say a few moments ago is on that ripping strip one of the things one of the problems with the ripping strip is sometimes if you get too caught up in trying to rip and strip you don't make the tack right right and it turns into a big play for the offense and it looks like hubbard is going to make it off the field in their zone power that's good news [Applause] mill creek back-to-back region champions the first two region championships in their program history 26-1 the last two years their only [Music] so nothing unusual about that kick i thought they might try to drop it in that 30-yard space where nobody was standing but instead they kick it to lane who returns it to the 26 and that's where the rams will go on offense 10 41 and mill creek really needs to get a three and out here [Applause] [Music] bryce quiet here in the second half but what a game he's had trying to finish it off here in the fourth quarter [Applause] now they line up in that wing t formation they fake the handoff to tomas williams and throw it the lane and gibson's there to stop him immediately great job by the mill creek defense to sniff that one out and work around those blockers again those grayson receivers blocked very well downfield but they're able to negate them and make the tackle now if you look at the formation we talked about it being spread but this was a wing t formation with the two wing backs jamias williams and kurt taylor they threw out of the wing t here but look at this they're lining up in a this is traditional wing t right here [Applause] well this is not so they line up kurt taylor here they go back to more of a spread that's tompkins who goes in motion to block for taylor and the play doesn't generate a whole heck of a lot still going brings up third down and long time the defense step up again [Music] great job of holding grace into only a field goal here in the second half it's third down and about eight balls at the 29 they need to get to the it's really more like seven need to get to the 36.

[Applause] jamias williams instead the inside handoff goes to kurt taylor gets stonewalled mylon is there and that's the three and out that the hawks were needing [Applause] ayola ogun seymour in on that tackle as well [Applause] one more look at it right here nice call in her misdirection but a great job right there no one fooled so fourth down and ten and van pamela going to punt for the first time tonight standing at his 11 yard line line drive kick end over in bounces backwards and mill creek for the first time the entire night will start a possession with great field position at the 50-yard line and it comes at a most opportune time for them as they're trying to climb back in this ball game they have outscored grayson 12-3 here in the second half after falling behind 38-14 at halftime and they got the final touchdown of the final score of the first half so really you count that 19-3 they've outscored grayson since the three-minute mark in the second quarter turley time breaks down rolls to his left now gonna run scrambles forward and picks up three yards on the play as dixon comes up to make the stop [Music] both teams have all three timeouts remaining click under eight minutes to play mill creek has really battled shannon jarvis promised john nelson at the second half they weren't going to quit at the half they would not quit in the second half and they haven't turley fires downfield in jackson another huge catch for adrian jackson who's having himself a career night he had six catches in their first 13 games he's got five tonight he's wide open right there again they're most effective their offense when turley rolls out like this and gives himself some space allows the players to develop sees where guys are nice nifty uh tight spiral right there to jackson and he does the rest five catches for 55 yards for number 43 adrian jackson tonight where did he come from a timeout called by grayson adrian jackson having himself a ball game here in the semifinals he has been a steady target and remember late in the half when they were down there and they failed twice going to mitch mcinanny they went to jackson on the third down and goal and got the touchdown so 41-26 mill creek that looked almost as good as dead at halftime has really come to life here their defense has had some stops turley's got it going and mill creek trying to battle back and make a run here late in the ball game you see last year knocked down in the semifinals by caulkwood county year before in the first round by grayson this is the first time in program history they've had three straight playoff appearances lost in the quarters in 2010 and 2012.

[Music] this is the 13th year of football for mill creek high school they've been in the playoffs six times trying to get to the state championship game for the first time ever clay turner goes in motion heavy rush turley steps up goes for the end zone and plumber and throws it out of the back of the end zone mark harmon needed to come out of the tip [Applause] little heater down there they got plays just too long developing and grace's defenders are just way too fast for that this is not going to be effective another fourth law and long now to keep this alive as we said you can't have any empty possessions down 38-7 at one point they've really come back to get back into this game huge play right here on fourth and seventh turley guns it caught at the 15-yard line or was it they're gonna rule that a catch and it's close to a first down as preston norwood makes his first catch of the ball game look at it right here watch him come across your screen half a yard short and they're going to be short that's the chair you hear as you watch the replay right here let's check the spot here yeah he was shy of the 15 yards even if it had been spotted closer to the 15 it still would to get another team into the state championship game this was his first state championship nelly way back in 1999 when oconee county beat mount zion jonesboro and there's a browning kid running the football because we had larry munson calling the game with jeff van note it was a great night in watkinsville and you see what it meant to watkinsville for oconee county to get that title it was a stifling defense that oconee county had against jackie green and mount zion jonesboro that night look at jeff herron who just graduated high school i know there's no gray hair there at all he was a that puts him 14 from very rare air in the state of georgia he's never had a losing season in 27 seasons as a head coach and he's been to the playoffs 20 straight seasons dating back to 1996. that's incredible and not just one place i mean it's one thing to do with 20 straight seasons at one place that's accomplishment enough but he's done it every year since 1996 at oconee county camden county prince avenue and now grayson i was gonna say and it's that's not just a one or two schools that is stepping into a new situation every time and then taking that team to the playoffs in year one every time he changes schools and what he's been able to do is take that tubby raymond delaware wing t and that's what he was the disciple of and use it to the athletes that he's been given it's not something where he's been a coach and tries to stick an offense in regardless of what the athlete is he always looked at his athletes and then got the offense and the defense to work to it so you've seen five defensive backs at camden county you've seen the the wide tackle rushing seven or dropping seven with that kind of stuff and wing t bass and you're seeing him having to adjust as a coach now here at grayson because of the high-powered offense that they have and you still see the wingt elements but there's also the spread there that's been there all that success well they got one more game it looks like this year and that's going to be next saturday night at the georgia dome against roswell in the 7a state championship game next year they might be more wing team but chase bryce moving on to clemson and sophomores corey jones and josh stinson battling for the quarterback job they might be back more to the wing team next year who knows but right here and right now they're about to be trent thompson trent thompson you're right [Applause] and let's face it grayson didn't make a lot of friends this year but you know it wasn't jeff aaron that all that happened before he even got here he stepped into the hornet's nest and you know you got to give him credit because you got all those all-star players together doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to be a cohesive unit and be able to win and he was able to piece the thing together they pretty darn good here man pamela juan for a field goal and he pumps it through and it's 44-26 and roswell will get their shot at him next saturday night just think of all the college coaches and scouts that will be there at that kid oh boy so 44-26 how about grayson's offense 56 points 59 points 49 points and now 44 points in their four playoff games and normally in the playoffs the playbook kind of gets a little shorter right and they're still putting up these big numbers they did it tonight against the mill creek team that was giving up less than 12 points per game this season and what a job you know we give credit to mill creek and what they did here in the second half to fight back down 38-7 late touchdown before halftime a couple of touchdowns here in the second half but what a job also by grace and moving the ball didn't necessarily score but held onto the ball and their defense really again uh stopping at mill creek you know forcing uh turnover on downs twice [Music] and keeping milk creek offense and again had scored more than 42 points per game during the playoffs and holding them in check and just 26 points here jamar hall on the return he's the senior he's committed to furman he'll be joining the paladins next year [Music] just the second loss for mill creek in the last two seasons and both of them have come on the 14th weekend of the year that's tough that is tough also such great talent up here and john we're talking about final 34 seconds turley guns it to the outside to ace williams [Music] and winning at this point they want to they want to finish the season strong they want to play it to the last second and that's the personality of their coach you know and that's what you see a lot of squads adapting the personality of their coach and shannon jarvis has put this into them and this entire mill creek coaching squad has done that to these guys learn from one of the best team mcferrin and a sack for turley back at the 50-yard line by breon dixon and that will do it [Applause] well grayson started the season in a hot bed of controversy but they are one of the final two teams standing in 7a as they will meet the roswell hornets for the state championship next saturday night here on gpb at the georgia dome a 44-26 semi-final victory handy mill creek their only loss of the season what a what a great season here by mill creek what a great night for grayson and really impressed again with the athletes that got here can't wait to see them go up against roswell next week i think to be one of the one of the best games we'll see the entire weekend and maybe even the entire season two teams that match up very well on both sides of the ball grayson now 13-1 on the season they've won 13 in a row and come a long way since that opening national television loss against img academy back in august led by their four-star quarterback and clemson commit chase bryce they blew this game open in the second quarter four touchdowns for bryce in the first half grayson beach mill creek 44-26 it's grayson and roswell for the 7a state championship next saturday night and we'll be
