(bright folk music) - Get ready to embark on an exciting nature-filled adventure with Nature Cat.
Join Girl Scouts of Utah in partnership with PBS Utah and Tracy Aviary's Jordan River Nature Center for an unforgettable experience, and here to tell us more is Nora Trinidad-Scholle.
Hi, Nora.
Thank you for being here.
So how did this partnership come about?
- So the girl, or Girl Scouts of Northern, or I'm sorry, Girl Scouts of Chicago in northern Indiana partnered with PBS Chicago on this Nature Cat and Girl Scout collaboration.
It was so successful that they've asked other Girl Scouts and PBS stations to collaborate as well and launch it.
- All right, and so tell me what happens on this big adventure.
- Sure, so we're hosting an event at the Jordan River Nature Center, Tracy Aviary's facility, and it's going to be a Nature Cat themed event, and it's open to families.
All families can join us, though we do ask you to register in advance, and then there will be a series of activities throughout the Jordan River Nature Center all around the Nature Cat theme, and then at the end, participants get to earn, in true Girl Scout fashion, a patch.
(both chuckle) - And you don't have to be a Girl Scout or the family of a girl scout to come?
- No, this event is open to all families.
We really just want everyone to learn more about PBS Utah and the Girl Scouts and have fun in a family friendly environment.
It is primarily geared towards kids ages kindergarten through third grade, though.
- Okay, okay, and you have a surprise guest.
- Yes, Nature Cat themself will be joining us at the event.
So that's the culmination of the nature trail is getting to meet Nature Cat themself.
- That will be exciting for kids.
- Yes.
- Yeah, yeah.
All right, and then I'm sure this just ties into your mission to what you do for girls.
- Yes, Girl Scouts of Utah as well as Girl Scouts in general is committed to, or our mission is, to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
- All right, well, thank you so much for being here and have fun out on the river, thanks, - Thank you.
- and if you'd like to know more about that upcoming event with Girl Scouts of Utah, it's the Nature Cat Adventure with PBS Kids Utah.
It will be June 17th in the evening from five to seven at Tracy Aviary's Jordan River Nature Center.
