(upbeat music) - University of Utah's Go Learn program explores the world with exceptional university faculty who are experts at bringing local and international destinations to life.
And PBS is teaming up with tour leader Kate Jones to tell us all about details of Cornwall on location with PBS Utah.
Hi there, Kate.
- Hi Mary.
- So great to have you on.
So this is an exciting trip.
Tell us like you're going to some locations of things like "Midsomer Murders".
- Right.
- [Mary] And "Doc Martin".
- Yes, yeah.
- "Poldark".
- That's right.
So we've teamed up with Go Learn and we've put a trip together to go see some of the filming locations from our favorite PBS shows.
So this time we're going to Cornwall and we're going to see "Poldark" filming locations, "Doc Martin", and some in the Cotswolds as well, like "Midsomer Murders".
- Ah, great.
- So it's beautiful.
We find that it's almost like another character of the show, the scenery.
So we want to take people to see behind the scenes and just see these beautiful areas.
- And you'll be leading the tour?
- Yes, I will, yes.
- And I'm sure you're gonna give them some British history too.
- That's right.
So we will, a lot of these shows are filmed in the historical shows.
So they're filmed in old country houses.
So we go to one called Chavenage House, which is the Poldark family home of Trenwith.
And it was built in Tudor times and there's so much history to it.
Oliver Cromwell stayed there, and even the US military stayed there before the D-Day landings, and Eisenhower was a guest.
So you don't have to have seen the shows.
It's just a bonus.
But there is a lot of history to see as well.
- Oh, you must be so excited to be going.
- Yeah.
- And how many people do you typically get on a tour?
- So they're small tours.
We cap it at 20.
So it's quite intimate, but it's big enough to make it a tour.
So like for Chavenage House, people can't do that on their own.
You have to go as a guided tour.
- [Mary] Right.
- So this is your chance to see a bit of history.
- Well, Kate, thank you so much for being here and have a good time.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about that upcoming Cornwall tour on location with PBS Utah, it's June 10th through 18th.
