(bright music) - The University of Utah's Go Learn program allows participants to explore the world with exceptional faculty who are experts.
Here to tell us more about the upcoming Washington, DC trip are Tim and Kathy Chambless.
Hello, both, thank you for being here.
So, Tim, why don't you tell us when this is, and what you're highlighting?
- Mary, thank you, this is a wonderful University of Utah program, the Go Learn program, which, later this year, September 15th to the 21st, Sunday evening to Saturday morning, folks who are lifelong learners have the opportunity to enjoy exploring our nation's capital of Washington, DC.
- I know that's gonna be good, it's a good time to go, and Kathy, what makes this trip so unique?
- So, we've done this now, this will be our fifth time that we have led a group of participants from Go Learn to Washington, DC, and we're doing things that people could do on their own, but it's special, because we have a small group, we set up meetings with lobbyists, journalists, public officials, and we see the museums with time to entry, but what makes it unique is in the afternoons and evenings after our visits, we get together, have happy hour, or chats where we talk about what our experiences were.
There's lots of free time to do things that aren't on our schedule so that people can go, if they want to, to other places.
We have dinners together.
It's just a very bonding experience for everyone.
- Sounds like it.
I love the smallness, and Tim, you've actually done these for students at Hinkley Institute - I did.
- Of Politics for years.
- 24 years for the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics Program from '94 through 2017.
One week in Washington, DC, I ran them ragged.
Now, they were concerned with grades for papers and so forth.
This is for folks our age who just want to learn, many who have never been to Washington, DC, others who have come many times.
- Great.
- It's wonderful, and it has a Utah connection.
- Love it, well, thank you so much for being here, and good luck filling it up.
- Thank you.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about that special Go Learn to Washington, DC, it's September 15th to 21st.
