Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipOne year ago yesterday, the city of Louisville was devastated by the shooting at Old National Bank that took the lives of five employees there yesterday, the city held a day of remembrance.
In the span of minutes, five of our old national team members were lost forever.
Josh Barrick, Deanna Eckert, Tommy Elliott, Julianna Farmer, and Jim Tuttle.
These were extraordinary, loving and gifted individuals.
And we are here today to remember them, to celebrate their lives, which were filled with passion and marked by a true spirit of generosity.
In the days following April 10th, I was often asked, How will we get through it?
And my answer is still the same.
We'll get through it together, and we will continue to deal with how it's made us feel and what we've lost together.
I can't tell you there's ever a day.
I don't think there will that we will be past.
I don't think there's a day that I will be.
But hopefully it can help us to do those right things, to be kind to each other, to realize every moment in life is precious.
I want to thank everybody, you of all, and in that hospital for fighting as hard as you did and you did your best.
And that's all anybody can be asked.
The fact that officer Will is still with us is an incredible statement on the care that he got at U of L Hospital, and it is a miracle of God.
So thank you for your work.
My friend Tommy.
The old National Bank CEO, ended the event by encouraging attendees to consider donating blood.
