The slice from PBS North.

I was in an antique store again in Stillwater, and I saw this little immigrant truck underneath a table with lots of stuff piled on top of it.

You can hardly see it.

And it was intriguing, but I looked at it and I thought, no, if I bring home another truck, I'm going to be in trouble.

So I walked away and there was something about it.

So I a few minutes later, I came back and I looked at it again.

I moved some of the stuff off the top and I said, it's this is nice.

It's got nice lettering.

but no, now I'm going to pass.

And I started walking out the door and I said, there's something about it.

So I turned around.

I came back in, took all the stuff off the truck, set it up on a table and read the inscription, and it was painted on it.

And I realized the trunk belonged to my great great grandfather, my name is Mike Conlan.

My wife and I have been collecting Scandinavian folk art for many years, and we're here at the Nordic Center in Duluth, showing some of the pieces from our collection.

many of the pieces are from the 1800s and were brought over by immigrants, which has some special appeal to us.

It's fun to see what they brought with them, because those are the things that were meaningful to them.
