The common practice of recycling is not as simple, clean, or sustainable as it seems.

For decades, the US has relied heavily on its ability to export sorted materials to China. But with new Chinese restrictions, new materials being added to an aging domestic infrastructure, and a lack of education on how to properly sort materials, the future of American recycling is far from certain. Contributing reporter John Smith conducts interviews about Rhode Island's own recycling program.
