Kentucky Congressman Brett Guthrie is a Republican from the second district.
He's also chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the committee that drafted future cuts and Medicaid spending outlined in President Donald Trump's tax and budget bill, also called the Big beautiful bill.
Congressman Guthrie says with the Medicare and Social Security programs off the table, the House had to focus on Medicaid cuts.
In an interview with TV in Louisville, Guthrie said, quote, the federal taxpayer can't do it.
We have $1 trillion budget deficit, and the states know they have to do more.
We'll see what the governor wants to do and quote.
