Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- Energy affordability has been listed as one of the key priorities of the Sherrill administration.
This week, the Board of Public Utilities, the state agency that oversees the energy industry, is asking the four utility companies to share how it could be more efficient.
Now those four companies, Atlantic City Electric, JCP&L, PSENG, and Rockland Electric Company, have until March 5th to respond with information about how new energy connections could come online or how existing interconnections could be improved.
BPU President Christine Gould-Sadovy says addressing interconnection challenges is critical to lowering costs and getting clean energy online faster.
And that this is the first step toward advancing the goals laid out in Sheryl's first two executive orders, which she signed as one of her first actions as governor.
The companies told us in separate statements they're each looking forward to working with the administration to make electricity bills more affordable for residents and to find new solutions to the growing demands on the industry brought on by data centers.
