According to the Department of Health, the child was under the age of five and lives in, quote, "the northern region of the state."
Hospital officials and health officials say the 2025-26 flu season is already more active than in recent years, with both cases and hospital visits remaining elevated statewide.
The health department is urging residents aged six months or older to get vaccinated against not just the flu but COVID-19 and RSV, especially those with underlying medical conditions and the elderly.
They're also, of course, reminding folks to take the normal precautions like frequent hand washing, staying home when you're sick, and getting care for severe symptoms.
