The pilot program targets soon-to-be released prisoners who suffer from opioid additions.

The pilot program targets soon-to-be released inmates who suffer from opioid additions. The pilot includes giving a drug called Vivitrol that blocks the high of heroin to inmates and offenders on community supervision. Studies have shown 25 percent of people who get the monthly injections relapse within a year compared to 59 percent who aren't given the drug.
