Longboard, cigarette, salt hair It's a beautiful day.
I wanted to create locally to take themselves seriously and to aspire towards, being on stage in a, in a way that is a little bit more special, I think, even than, than the opportunities we normally get as musicians in Southwest Florida.
the High Lonesome Sound Songwriter Round is a recurring songwriter round based here in southwest Florida, where, I curate a blend of original artist from the Southwest Florida area and try to incorporate artist from, you know, regional areas.
I'm from Everglades City.
I've lived there my entire life.
I'm multiple generations.
It's the way that I've navigated the world around me.
Especially when you feel trapped in a place.
time.
A songwriter round is usually, you know, around two to four-ish, songwriters on stage.
It's just them with their instrument, with their most stripped down version of their song.
And they really get to showcase their writing, They get to tell their story of their song.
They get to tell the stories behind their process of songwriting and connect in a really special and intimate way with an audience It's really nice to have like a passion of mine be appreciated, in this way.
Songwriting is at the core of who we are as people, and a lot of the time we don't get to play our originals, and so this is really just a unique opportunity, and it's really cool to have a positive energy coming back from the crowd because we don't get that a lot.
the reason I think the storytelling is crucial in a round setting like this, is it makes it so intimate, songwriters that I admire are just great storytellers, and I think that's wha songwriting is, is storytelling.
It's the oral tradition.
It's just a musical part of the oral tradition.
I have a song called Dominoes & Decisions that I'll be playing tonight.
this song to me sort of wraps in a lot of ideas that, anxiety about growing older and because I know that decisions I make now in my late 20s are going to be, some of the biggest that are going to affect the rest of my life.
and no one wants to hear you through High Lonesome Sound is just like a place you can call home for musicians.
this sparks inspiration for other people.
People playing in their rooms that don't think anybody wants to listen.
People do want to listen to you.
Your art is very important.
It makes the world go round.
This is for people that are music fans, that love the process that love watching people grow.
And so High Lonesome Sound is a really big, important part of that.
