New Jersey moves closer to licensing police officers

New Jersey is one of five states in America that does not license its police officers.

New Jersey is one of five states in America that does not license its police officers. But the state Police Training Commission voted unanimously to create a licensing program and establish a set of professional norms. Officers who violate the norms could be fired, stripped of their license, out of the profession and prevented from moving between departments.
