Joining us now, the author of two books on high school football here in the great state of Georgia, Jon Nelson, a segment we call Jon's Georgia topic number one tonight.
This game tonight is big.
This game is big.
And we're going to see it through the eyes of a guy that McEachern has to stop him from running back Kenyan Drake.
Here's his thoughts.
I guess the first thing when I see McEachern is it makes my stomach kind of hurts a little bit.
It's not a secret.
Now we have a little bad blood between each other, but I'm really looking forward to the matchup because it's a great game last year.
You know, it's a great Robert this year.
Just the atmosphere is going to be love.
KENYON Drake talking about that rivalry, topic number two.
Let's talk about Kenyan Drake and.
The best guy to do that is the head coach for this squad, Philip Ironside, who has seen Drake from the beginning to now.
Here's his assessment of the star running back with all the stardom he's gotten attention and early commit to Alabama and in those things, he's handled it really well.
Kind of stay the same personality, same type kid.
Very humble, you know, as he's matured, his work habits have gotten better.
He works good in the weight room and he's a good citizen, good kid, good heart and good to have in your program.
All right.
Topic number three, you've got some birthday wishes to a great coach here in Georgia.
A special shout out.
And for that, we head down to Green Ball and Jeremy Williams for the Big Four.
Oh, here's some video that we have of Jeremy from a couple of years ago when he was coaching down at Greenville High School, taking the Patriots from a losing program to a winning program.
We know his story.
He's been fighting Lou Gehrig's disease for the last couple of years.
But to Jeremy, Jennifer, Jacob and Jose, all four, James and Elmore Williams, happy morrow.
Jeremy, we're all thinking about you and we all love you very much.
All right.
And you got a story about the building process here.
We'll see it.
Have you.
Got it?
All right.
John Nelson and John George.
Now, tonight we are in Powder Springs, Georgia, Cantrell Stadium for a battle of unbeaten McEachern comes in five and ranked number one there.
Region four in Cobb County rival or the five Mohawks of Hillgrove.
This has all the makings of a classic high school football game.
We are counting down to kick off right here on GPB.
They came to.
Find gold in Springville, but found little off Brownsville Road.
But the seven springs that fed the city contained minerals that turned the land black as gunpowder.
In 1859, the town's name changed to Powder Springs on land that was donated by life insurance mogul John Newton McEachern.
The school was built in 1908, which became the largest school in Cobb County for a time.
That is, until upstart schools like Hillgrove High School came along to lighten the school's load from its 26 beginnings.
The Hawks have been positioning themselves to be a force in football, and this year, with an undefeated record, they hope to go all the way.
But first, they have to get by.
The McEachern.
Indians, also undefeated.
At home in the biggest.
Stadium in the state.
Tonight, it's the Hillgrove Hawks versus the McEachern in line from McEachern High School, for whom the bell tolls on Football Fridays.
And Georgia.
Quite football.
That's a championship team right there on top.
But the bell is going to tall for kickoff in just a couple of seconds.
But first, tonight's game is an interactive event.
You, too, can participate via the World Wide Web.

Jacki, thanks so much.
He's right in the middle of all the action.
So now I ask you that question.
Are you ready for some football?
It's the McEachern Indians.
It's the Hillgrove Hawks.
It is game time.
It's time to send it to my three colleagues.
We are going to call this ball game.
Gil, Dave and Trey, take it away.
The ball Fridays here on the great job.
We got a great one here tonight, folks.
Region four or five.
A.
Friendly neighborhood donnybrook between.
Two bitter rivals, the.
Hawks of Hillgrove and the top ranked in the hands of McEachern.
We welcome you back, Gil Tyree, along with coach Dave Hunter and Trey McDaniel.
And we set the scene for two great teams right now doing battle here.
Let's start with the Indians.
Yeah, the number one team in the land is led by senior quarterback Trent Thompson.
Six £290.
He's going to go play for Coach.
Curry at Georgia State.
He's thrown for nearly 1100 yards and eight touchdowns.
And here's some high praise for you.
Coach Hartman said he's the best quarterback he's ever been around on the defensive side of the ball.
It's going to be the senior defensive end.
Darius English, six foot six, £222.
He's going to go play for South Carolina, leads the team with 51 tackles and 11 sacks.
Coach said he is virtually unblockable and what a job coach Ironside.
Has done at Hillgrove.
There's new kids on the block, so to speak, Coach Hunter But.
You've got to admire what they've accomplished.
So far and.
Short term a short amount of time.
That's exactly right.
He's got that community so excited and they're ready to play.
The fans are ready to play.
I can tell you that they're led by KENYON Drake, the running back, the all everything running back 62205 committed to coach Nick Saban and Alabama Crimson Tide.
He can do it all, coaches.
He can do it all.
He can catch it.
He leads the team.
He would be the best defensive back, the best linebacker, the best running back or the best waterboy on defense.
They led by John Silas, a linebacker, six one about 210.
Ironic story with John.
He was an option quarterback as a sophomore.
He was a defensive back as a junior and hurt.
Both of those years has come into play linebacker this year and coach Ironside said John Howard Don excuse me Silas has played lights out.
All right.
It's going to be a great one definitely.
And we got to hear from the coach.
And the steps to success.
Let's start with Hillgrove.
With Hillgrove, they have got to get there, set the tempo for the game and get their screen game going.
They've got lots of different screens and he got to do that on first down, according to the coach.
I've also got to use KENYON Drake on second and third down, hoping to tire the defensive linemen out.
And then I got to win third down, big, big down for them on third down and four.
The McEachern Indians, they have got to limit break yards.
In other words, I got a gang tackle.
They got to make sure they get him down offensively.
They've got to handle.
All of the blitz packages that Hillgrove will throw at him.
They've got numerous blitz packages they've got to be able to handle, get a hand on a hat, and defensively they have got to stop Hillgrove screen game.
And in short coach last year, 64 to 48.
This year, a lot of points like a Vegas slot machine, huh?
Yeah.
Boy did they.
They they put them up last year.
They kind of shocked them.
I tell you what, this is the best atmosphere we've had all year.
Trey and I were talking about that, and the Hillgrove people were here so early.
And when Hillgrove the team arrived at the game, Gale, the fans were grading them.
So they were so excited.
Let me tell you something.
If Hillgrove wins this game, they are probably going to be a hootenanny dino in the field.
Yeah, we might have a couple of goalposts come down.
This is what high school football is all about.
We are in one of the most beautiful facilities we've ever been in.
But the most impressive thing tonight is the crowd, the pomp and circumstance.
And the atmosphere here.
Like Coach said, we have not been at a game where both the home side and the visiting side was full.
And this is one of the biggest stadiums in the state.
You just saw the Hillgrove Hawks led by Phillip Ironside coming on to the field.
McEachern has won the toss.
They deferred.
So the Hawks will get the football out first.
But these two coaches, Coach Ironside for Hillgrove and also Coach Hockman from from McEachern, both have ties to.
The table.
High school in Smyrna.
Yeah, well, Coach Ironside was the head coach at Campbell before he came to went to Hillgrove in oh six and coach Hockman and his dad one of his assistants for two years later and, and Coach Hartman came here when Coach Dawson started in oh eight.
He took over for Coach Times out there and at Campbell and easily 10,000 people here, if not more.
This is a huge crowd.
And boy, they are excited.
They're ready to press the start.
But absolutely.
We can't say enough about the atmosphere here.
It's great you talked about that.
You can not find a better atmosphere for a high school football or any level of football.
Here than McEachern.
No, you can't.
And going back to the rivalry, although the coaches are friends and their families are friends, this is a very bitter rival.
Only three miles separate these two teams.
You saw the teams there in the pre game.
The players don't like each other.
The communities don't really like each other very much either.
We're being nice and politically correct and saying that's a friendly neighborhood rivalry, but both of these teams want to beat the school out of each other.
You see the history right there between these two teams.
Not a lot, but a lot to encompass over those two years ago, Johnson said that was the most had ever been after football.
All right.
Nicholas Saint-Germain kicking off from a key turn.
The ball taken at the one straight ahead in the 17th.
That is great.
He has over the 25 up to about the 26 yard line at the Hudson Hill Grove will take over first in ten.
A gain of 24.
Yeah.
KENYON Drake, as coach said in his open, he can do everything and they're going to.
Give him a chance to do everything if they want to win this football game.
That's not taking away from the rest of his supporting cast.
But it's going to start and stop with King and KENYON.
You see the quarterback, Elijah Ironside, same name as the head coach.
That's his son.
The give is to Drake.
Drake over the close to about the 30 yard line about to the 28.
It's a they they've got in the pistol formation.
You'll see the exclusively in the pistol formation.
They're in the pistol formation.
He run his own play off tackle.
All right.
Let's set the scene.
We take a look at the Hillgrove offense.
Here's the offense.
The tackles are Howells and Ward, the guards of McCarty and Collins and the center is Eric.
Right, right, right.
Weiser Ironside will give again to Drake around the left side over the 30 ball loose out of bounds at about the 32.
And that is where the football will lie.
We got to look at over 17.
Trouble getting their lineup in there because they want to snap that ball quickly.
This is a fast paced game.
They do not huddle.
You see the defense set the scene for the McEachern Indian defense one.
Trey McDaniel Yeah, it'll be a Zach Wilson, Jed Newark Wall and Darius English, the stud defensive end.
And then the linebacking corps is Mathias Lewis Hall, Long and Parham and the defensive backfield is led by Edward Thomas, the Free Safety.
He's going to make a big tackle first and another big tackle there on third down.
And if he continues to force the situation.
Ironside with the completed pass, Victor Hall, the big linebacker 511 £218 senior on the stop.
It was a little slipped screen pass to Drake one of those many screens they run McEachern you can take the screen on the replay you see that number 17 breaks this slip out the screen boy he's got a spot on him right there.
Number 27, the linebacker from McEachern does a great job.
Victor Hall.
Jordan Pinner and to punt for a hillgrove be about it his own 15 yard line and back to receivers eyes at Ottawa.
For the McEachern Indians and backtracking as ever Tyler loses the football and it is still loose and it's taken by McEachern and it is they're tackled right there at about the five yard line.
That was C.J.
Cody, who was Johnny on the spot.
But the Hillgrove special teams were dead on it.
And that will pin McEachern back.
Do you want to talk about right.
Place, right time?
It looked.
Like there were some Crisco on that.
Football as it spurted out right into the hands of C.J.
Cody, Coach said it was going.
To be turnovers and little things that kept McEachern down if they were going to beat themselves and they almost had a crucial one.
Big turnover.
Great punt, though, made him repeat and feel the ball.
Tremendous punt by the by the Hillgrove punter a great kick by Jordan PENNER.
48 yards to be exact.
You're exactly right, coach.
And you saw it at Ottawa having trouble with it up ahead of Ottawa with it and struggled with it.
And that's up by two.
Tyler there with the pass from Thompson over the ten slithers his way up to about the 13 yard line number eight Ottawa.
Take a look at quarterback Trent Thompson.
You can see him as a left hander.
Got a tremendous release.
You can see six foot three and £180, £190.
He's committed to Georgia State and he's got great they they run a pistol formation for you guys out of years wonder what that is.
The shotgun is about six yards and the pistol is about three yards deep.
It's kind of like the pistol, the a shoulder gun.
Yeah.
Somebody called the shot off shotgun.
Johnny Wells.
Jelani Wells gets to the 30 yard line up to about the 30 to.
A first down for the teacher.
Interesting story on Jelani Wells.
He actually had to move him back after Crist walk borrow their talented running back was hurt he written his ACL versus Louds and he originally tore in the playoffs last year against Valdosta.
Wells has come back on the defensive side, the defensive side, a good job.
See him run a slant off the left left edge there.
And he did a good job of protecting the football.
When he shifted, they protected it.
Well.
All right.
Whistles on the play a time out official timeout and that'll bring us to the fact that our crew ate it up tonight will be by added up by referee Bob Preston.
The Georgia Football Officials Association first down at the 30 yard line, 925 in the first quarter, you see the crew headed up by Bob Preston, Mark Lance, Jay Worley, Robert Cunningham, Travis Muhammad, Brant Jones and Kevin Bolton, 925 Early on here in Powder Springs, Georgia.
Gil Tyree, Dave Hunter, Trey McDaniel, glad to have you with us here tonight.
Out of the shotgun is Thompson for McEachern drops back, looks over the right side.
The ball is complete over there to Trey Fletcher and he is tackled over there but up to about the 37 yard line.
And coach let's set the McEachern office.
Delaney and Kofi Amita and tackles the guards fire and Graham and the center is Pittman of course the quarterback is is the aforementioned player got at a town in Wales Holman Brannon and Fletcher in the backfield and at receiver.
All right second and three at the 38 Thompson rolls right goes into the flap That's Victor Brennan.
Victor Brennan.
It's up to about the 45 yard line in on the tackle for the hawks were John Silas the big linebacker coach profiled him at the top and senior six.
One you to say this £15 excuse me you can see fakes the face of run off the edge and he runs the bootleg and hits the low down arrow route in the flat.
The number 18 from McEachern a lot of weapons on this McEachern team Victor Brandon they do a lot of things.
They're going have to stay on their toes with the Hill as the Hillgrove Defense is swarmed with the ball.
You see Trey Fletcher in motion to give straight ahead.
It's the wells.
Jelani Wells, five foot nine, £162, a load of speed.
Seniors Trey McDaniel.
Let's set the scene with the hill goes up defense and.
All right you've got Colucci Reed Hewitt and Ajoku up front Justin Haney, Dylan Mitchell and John Silas the guy we profiled in pregame and the defensive backfield is going to be Ricard, Drake, Bagley, Nicky Bryan, Leslie, Travis Simmons into Lando Cleveland.
All right Thompson's pass complete the Fletcher over midfield into Hillgrove territory about the 40 but the 49 yard line now set up a third and eight.
So quick it's a very fast paced game they won't get it.
It plays run.
They want to see how many plays they can run in a quarter.
That's one of their goals.
Both teams are that way.
And that was a little rocket screen that was very well defended by the Hillgrove and a two tight end set here on third down.
33 at the 49 the pass but it is it is intercepted by hopewell's John Silas and John Silas sets up a turnover for Hillgrove and it'll give it first and ten right on.
Cue.
We talked about John Silas in the open.
I just talked about him there a second ago.
Coach calls him an underdog story.
You'll see him settle in here right in the passing lane, jump up, make a nice catch.
Victor, Brandon wasn't really open, but you could tell they have a record as Thompson and Brandon, so we tried to sneak it in there and nothing to do in the best player on defense steps off and makes the biggest play of the game so far.
Oh, the first.
Turnover of the night coach.
Guy got to gets underneath him He's got to put some air into that ball lob it over the over the top of that backcourt.
That is Drake.
Or correctly not Drake.
I'm sorry.
Excuse me.
That is for the Hillgrove offense.
That's Ikere.
That's Ike Errico.
I can recall over the 45 yard line, about to the 46 yard.
Line great hit by Eddie Thomas on you see him on replay come across the field whoop it did Thomas put some leather on him.
A reggae a five foot eight £175 seniors bring up a second and seven at the 45 out of the Wildcat That's Drake he gets over midfield and into McEachern territory about it to me but McEachern 46 you could.
See his acceleration good you guys.
Well, he really accelerated once he faked that ball and darted up in that hole.
I'll tell you what, Edward Thomas has had to come up a couple of times from his free safety position and plug the hole against Drake.
If he starts cheating up and having to do that too often, they'll be able to take some shots in the passing game.
But right now they're just trying to get their feet underneath him here in the sawed off shotgun.
Again, it's Drake again, Liggins from Ironside and he may have lost a couple.
Yeah.
Great tackle by Yohannes Mathias.
He's got 36 tackles on the team that ranks third among their defense team.
Come off the edge.
Mathias makes the tackle right there and they tried it.
That's a no gain right there, which is a big win.
On First Down for the McEachern Indians.
Yohannes Mafia's a six foot £180 senior outside linebacker.
All the stuff that'll bring up a second and ten at the 45.
Drake complete pass to Evan Abraham.
He gets over the.
30 yard line down to about the McKittrick 26.
That's what we just talked about.
Gil That running game, that power running game softens up the second level and you see the tight end.
Ingram Not a huge tight end but 63205 wide open and goes up the ladder Coach makes a great catch Nice throw from the young quarterback large outside stood in there well.
Outside looking over on the right side of the pass he's complete control of those three got de Beckmann.
And KENYON Kenyatta Beckham is down to about the ten yard.
Line and a flag on the play.
And he's quick too quick.
That was a quick screen where they pull to pull that tackle out there to kick the corner out.
I think they're going to get probably a block in the back here.
550 to go with a fast moving first quarter here at Powder Springs.
Two unbeaten teams here tonight, McEachern top ranked.
In a whole lot of over Bobby Preston say there was a holding call of the referee there with that hole was blocking the blocking by blocking the back by Preston the referee and that's too bad for them because right now I love what they're doing on offense.
They are giving the ball to Drake, but they're moving moving the ball around because, you know, all week long they've been key.
And on defense and talking about stopping KENYON Drake and he'll you see the block in the back right there by 56 and that was on Edward Thomas.
Second and eight at the 25 the give is to Drake goes around the right side and is hogtied and brought down.
The case.
He's claiming they got the ball, but I don't think that's true.
Mackenzie Billingsley was over there for McEachern.
I like how Kelvin Cameron, his backfield mate, really used his momentum to take one of the would be tacklers out of bounds.
But they're doing a good job right now.
McEachern is putting 11 hats to the football and that's really what you have to do against a six foot two, £205 running back.
That's going to be playing for the Crimson Tide next year.
Get a look at coach at McEachern, Kyle Hockman, the head coach, done an outstanding job, like I said, came over from Campbell.
Oh, they got the wildcat and even he is Nate Billingsley was there and also I saw Darius English in there too.
But what a shot.
Really good play.
That's a sophomore, guys.
Six three £235 with 41 tackles.
So far he's him and Nazar Wilson are going to kind of change in and out of that defensive end position that that run was away from him.
And he did a great job of back side pursuit, and he just lowered the boom on KENYON.
Drake's big hits here in the early going.
Speaking of the aforementioned KENYON Drake, so far, six carries 15 yards, courtesy of our outstanding statistician here.
Joining us again this week, Kevin Barnes, third and eight at the 25 for the Hillgrove Hunt for 14 to go in the opening quarter here and Powder Springs McEachern at Hillgrove we're glad to have you with us here on GPB.
Ironside looking at the flat flood Drake 25, 2015, ten Flags five touchdown, touchdown Hillgrove And we see flags on the play and.
This could be brought back 26 yards And you.
Saw that great acceleration again and Thomas is looking for a couple couple of shoes that he lost there on the six yard.
Line.
But this one may be coming back and it is coming back for it again.
It's coming back.
And the big play was on the screen there you go.
Came over the screen.
Walking the back offense, ten yard penalty spot of the final four feet.
First thing.
Is hauling again.
Coach outside, not happy.
Very even keeled guy guys, but he's pretty fired up right now.
That's two costly penalties on this drive inside McEachern territory.
And this is also benefiting because of the turnover.
This is a drive that was created off the turnover.
Yeah.
You really.
Want to put points on the board after you get a big turnover like.
That?
No question about it.
We talked about then in the opening, if you remember in that we hit.
We were listening notes.
We always pay attention.
When you win, you keep us on our P's and.
Q's, a big third down play.
They're going to need some more yards.
Man in motion.
It's Drake and scoring the flat.
That's a lot of football to play with.
It goes out of bounds.
The incomplete.
Oh, yeah.
By Arkansas we just got loose, you know?
We got what I was told, Matt We got the turnover early in the game from the kitchen.
I thought the quarterback may have forced that ball this a little bit in there, but he didn't get that air under the ball and make it come down, get it over the back.
Maybe that's some of the pressure he feels.
I don't know.
We'll see.
And right now, the guys are kind of in no man's land.
They don't have the luxury of having a Saint Germain on their team for Hillgrove.
So even though it's fourth and long, you're in no man's land here, so you're just going to maybe try to take a shot at if you put the ball and get it on the point if it.
Goes in the end zone so you don't really gain much.
Elijah Ironside under heavy pressure looks.
Finds a receiver, it's incomplete and we have a flag on the play.
Not a good throw because Darius English was in his face for the first time tonight, did not get alignment down the field here.
You see the flag and a discussion about.
Illegal and down the field.
Declines.
It gets the ball turns over home down to the turnover, guys.
Doesn't prove too much, but they start out with pretty decent, good position at the 31 yard line.
So it's kind of a dual.
Thing we talk about every week now.
Those penalties, penalty, a lot of them here in the early going.
And a and a missed opportunity for their coach.
Outside of covering a missed opportunity.
This ends up being the kind of game we all anticipate a close game in the fourth quarter.
Those are the kind of things that are going to keep you up at night.
They got the pick by Silas but couldn't do anything with it first.
And ten down for the Indians up the kitchen, 347 in the opening quarter here at Cantrell Stadium on the beautiful campus of McEachern High School.
Come in the pistol formation again.
Again, it's a spread slow.
Led by Thompson out of the flat.
That pass is complete over there, the number 18 and that's Victor Browning with the Brandon's close to the 35 yard line.
Very close to a backward pass there.
I thought that's dangerous.
You can see this is a little flare and it's really close to the back of pass.
But Brandon makes a nice catch and gains positive yards.
Brandon's a good luxury to have guys.
I saw him in warm ups and he's got he's got that build and that speed in the hands of a wide receiver, but they line them up at tight end.
Second and seven at the 35.
Thompson unleashes the ball at Ottawa.
At Ottawa, close to that to about the 45 yard line spotted about the 44.
They want to throw a screen to, don't it?
Yes, they do.
Justin Haney comes up from his whip position and has to make a tackle to save maybe in an even bigger game by got to tell you guys on the outside move the ball in their hands.
That's why they do that.
Clemson's a great spring screen team in college.
But at Ottawa's six foot two, £180 senior and he is a load and then some big play receiver.
You see the numbers right on your screen, the gif right there straight ahead.
That is two wells, correct?
That Mike Sherman.
Mike Sherman is over the 45 yard line close to midfield.
You guys what we're going to see tonight from this offense for McEachern is they're a little bit more balanced pass run and coach Hockman traditionally likes to establish the run even though he airs it out a lot, you're going to see a little bit more pass oriented from them with not block bar not being in there.
Gain of four, that'll make it second and six.
At the 45.
The pass is complete two at a taller drags the defender over the 35 yard line about to the 33.
It came with two tight ends and two.
Wide receivers and made them balance up the defensive front and their secondary.
It went to Anthony Leggett.
He threw the slant and see him with the throwing to start slant ran up inside and they forced him into a coverage there with by the formation.
Yeah he took McNabb on Leslie for a little bit of a ride.
Leslie might have saved the touchdown.
And guys, now they're into Hillgrove territory, so they're in scoring position with their good kicker.
19 yard reception sets up a first down at the 33, but Hillgrove is going to have none of that as Thompson gets sacked back at the 40 yard.
Line, that's JaKarr Grisby and he used one of his wrestling moves.
He also is a wrestler in the off season.
Use one of his wrestling moves to pull down trend tops and that's a huge loss.
He's playing save sprint to the outside.
Great play, excellent play by number 94 of the defensive end and does a great job.
Six foot £200 Jabari Grigsby and Thompson again it states pressure gets a little 35 and it is in is stacked up and up down and tackled by John Silas again momma there goes that man again number five with the tackle about at the Hillgrove 30 yard line.
You see replay.
You see him take off here to get some pressure and he's got some athletic ability to be able to skate and he gets hit.
MATHENY Right up on the chin by the linebacker from Hillgrove outside Gonzalez That guy that coach loves dial and lit.
But what's happened is we got a penalty flag, but.
That was 51.
Dallin Mitchell also over there to help Silas out Thompson already on the night seven of 854 yards for McEachern and a minute 32 and counting down a third and 16 awaits the Indians at the 31 of Hillgrove.
They got some of it back on that run Gale I think it's third and eight.
Thompson.
The game straight ahead that so he gets over to 25 down to about the over 24.
Yeah Coach said.
Sherman reminds him.
He said, I don't want you guys to thinking I'm comparing him, but he's got a running style, kind of like Emmitt Smith.
He's a slasher between the tackles, got a guy, likes to break tackles.
He did a good job there, but they're still a bit short.
Yes, Coach, here we come.
Talk down in about a half a yard.
You're either going to get the freeze play the no play, and they're going to take it up above tackle to the left, perhaps as a holding outside.
That's Silas.
That's it, Silas.
Excuse me, Silas, it's Jaylen Reed, the sophomore.
And, you.
Know, that's what you get with the sophomore lining up over the nose.
He's right above the ball.
It's inexcusable because he could see the ball.
Better than anybody else can.
Johnson Jones anyway, already in the crazy I love that play drives you crazy but it works.
It works.
It absolutely works.
It works a lot in Brooklyn.
I say that and it worked so much.
It got him a first down at the 19 under a minute to go in the opening quarter here.
Potter Springs guilt.
Sorry.
Coach Dave Hunter the legendary coach Dave Hunter and Trey McDaniels.
Hillgrove penalties three for 20 yards right now first and tell it to 19 to the Indians.
Thompson drops back.
Looks in the end zone and it's another pick the pick at the ten the 15.
And over there to make the pick is McTavish on Leslie.
I tell you what, Coach, and you'll agree with me on this.
I thought that was another pass, that if Thompson puts a little bit more air under it.
He's got Trey Fletcher in the back of the end zone, but he flattens it out and KP on Leslie sniffs it out.
You can see the two D is either got it you're right crazy they got to get it up in the air or caught much sooner much shorter on the line because the two deep there's a hole on the.
Sideline scoreless late first Hillgrove McEachern.
We'll be right back after these important messages on the great GPB.
Football Friday's in Georgia is made possible by the GPB Sports Council and by viewers like you.
Thank you.
Okay.
All right.
Now, nighttime here in the beautiful hamlet of Powder Springs, Georgia.
What a wonderful that great night.
Great camera work by a crew here tonight or GPB crew so far for Thompson, those two alliances, interceptions and turnout, what's the deal for you?
They sure do.
They get the ball, then they ready to put it in at least three with a probably, do you think three with the Saint Germain kicking that ball.
But the turnover was a killer.
They were giving a gift on the offside and they weren't able to capitalize.
All right, Hillgrove, what the football and you saw it right there, the little pigeon catch from Elijah Ironside to Evan Ingram on the slap in the slot and takes it up to about the 24 yard.
Line that's had inside.
That's an inside screen.
They run to the quick screen, the bubble screen to slip screen.
They got all kinds of.
Ceiling numbers and counting down at the end of the first quarter.
As we come to the conclusion that streak on the outside 30, the 30, 35 to 35 safety McPhee he steps out of bounds and he's got to be stuffed into McEachern territory about it.
The 47 yard.
Line, a gain of about 25 guys on this rebate check out the block that Kelvin Cameron puts on the defensive end might have gotten away with a slight pull.
But that enabled Drake to get down the sideline.
All right.
Scoreless going into the second quarter Hill broke McGee through right back after these messages on GPB tune in.
The GPB is new season of Georgia Travelers From the Mountains to the Coast.
Our traveling team explores the state's most beautiful, exciting and unique treasures.
Don't miss Georgia Traveler at a new time Sundays at 7:00 on GPB at for radio listeners on 790 The Zone our great partner WQXR.
You're watching GBP, the home of high school sports here in the great state of Georgia.
Hillgrove has had the ball 6 minutes and 33 seconds in the first quarter in McEachern, 527.
Neither team has stop the other one, they've stopped themselves.
McEachern has turned it over twice and is stopped and Hillgrove Grosman been stopped by penalties of their own.
Start of the second quarter.
Hillgrove with the football and the give straight ahead over the right side is a reggae and a reggae takes it over the 45 yard line about down to the 41 lot.
Of movement pre-snap for Hillgrove as they change up the formation a little bit to try to keep the defense honest.
Riga He's done a pretty good job.
He's a tough runner.
And in between the tackles, too, so far.
THOMPSON Seven of 954 yards a two picks.
WELLS Two carries 20 yards on the other side aren't set forwards of six for 31 Ingram Two for 24 at Drake, seven.
A third straight ahead run.
Looks like it would be strong.
And that is a loose football and you see check that out.
Those are two of the best players in the state of Georgia.
Darius English and drinking in Drake and Drake's just snapped off the sideline to give him a space to protect his quarterback.
You get you can take that he takes the ball up the field.
This is a little overzealous on the part of McEachern to defend them.
But I don't I don't blame Drake for standing up for his player.
However, he's on the sideline, he's not in the game.
And his skill statement, he's still running his game.
Technically speaking, they probably should have flagged him for coming off the bench.
Yeah, he definitely should have.
I think he was going to check into the game anyway, but I totally agree with that.
Set the pretty nasty tone on defense.
They both these teams have bad intentions on defense right now.
And you've heard the crowd get into this on that sideline, the Hillgrove crowd, like like John said, they showed up at 6:00.
They've been sitting on those concrete uncomfortable stands for 2 hours.
They're none too happy.
They're not sitting now.
They're all standing.
Right.
The Hillgrove Nation coming over from about three and a half miles.
Yep.
Separate these two schools got to.
Love rivalry games third down and four.
Better than this one we really better we.
Used to love back in the day of Brooklyn Park.
Now 33 excited and here he is.
He hits the ground on that play and there's some chipping that's going on with Drake.
Again, that's an area seamless.
But he threw his quarterback to the ground.
That was within the rules, right?
Absolutely.
And that's a sack that's legit loss of 12.
Did you watch Watch Drake and see what I watch?
Great.
Come off the ball.
It's a low snap, but here comes Drake.
Number eight is untouched.
Untouched.
He looked like he was shot out of a Danny Boy.
Boy.
South Carolina Gamecocks are getting a good one and that's leftover right there for KENYON Drake.
And he needs to calm down because like I said, it starts and stops with him.
He can't lose his poise right now.
He is their best player.
And the coach said, we talked to him yesterday that he calms down all the younger guys and right now he's setting a bad example for CBS English as a profile of English as a defensive end, saying you're going to South Carolina.
We got Jordan PENNER punting the ball that snap.
Good job hitting that off.
At a tower and Trey Fletcher let the ball drop and roll and it'll settle.
They're about at the McKittrick 24 yard line, a punt of about 31.
So the Indians will take over first and ten scoreless here in the second quarter.
And here we are.
They got the ball again, third and four.
What stops them not locating the bad snap so the well both teams have been their own worst enemy so far.
I know you want to keep the McEachern defense their speed and their enthusiasm at.
Bay a little bit.
But when you got KENYON Drake, you got to give him you got to feed him the rock coach.
I remember when Brookwood played against Douglas in the playoffs, and I thought when they had that you're.
Martin went to Tennessee?
Jamal Lewis I didn't think they gave him the ball near enough.
He touched it 12 times and I shook the coach's hand at the game and I said, Thank you.
Appreciate that.
Yeah, thank you.
Because the first time he touched it, he went through it ran through.
And by eight of us.
To give was to Jelani Wells, who got it over about to the close to about the 25 yard line, a gain of about to bring up about second and ten at the 24th.
You can tell that McEachern kind of runs the ball to keep them honest.
Scoreless ballgame here.
Potter Springs at Cantrell Stadium on the campus of McEachern High School.
Guilty.
Sorry, Coach Dave Hunter and Trey McDaniel joining you here tonight.
Oh, the flag bump on the sweep.
That was Jelani Wells and he got over the 20 yard line but was pushed back.
Great back side pursuit block in the back area on the offense from the spot of the foul up.
Oh, this is a big, big loss.
Look at the replay it takes him out of the side is chased down right here by that big number 94.
Again.
And number nine, outstanding defensive play by the Hillgrove Defense.
That's Justin Haney.
And Dakari Grimsby.
That big number 94, that coach was talking about.
In pursuit.
In hot pursuit.
Yeah.
Coming off a left in.
Coach said it big loss they're pinned down inside their ten yard line.
Now got to remind me of Trey McDaniel.
His dish over white, over the ten yard line up to about the 11 yard line is Jelani Wells.
After the indirect snap.
And Wells has got tremendous speed.
So for them to catch him on the edge like that is quite a feat.
Very impressed here in the early going with the speed and rallying to the football that the hawk defense is doing.
Coach, what we saw in the scoreless quarter after we had this scoreless almost a quarter to.
Quarter, they bolted tonight.
So many mistakes.
I mean, you know, from the bad snap to the penalties for Hillgrove to the two interceptions from from McEachern and now, you know, they get the big loss with a penalty that was a 25 yard loss.
At stops it looking.
At a towel and it was complete TV only well done correctly was great Flexen on the better tallies 69 yards down the field here.
The guy had pretty good coverage in the first place.
You just might take tremendous hits.
Let's take a look at it.
Thompson slings this ball down the field, probably a throw to catch 50 to 60 yards, and he just catches it.
Grigg rakes it in with his left hand, and for him to keep his balance there, coach was impressive, great concentration.
Look at it over the edge of his shoulder.
That's a plus.
Not a bad not bad defense.
And that's a big league.
That's a big league throw.
If that comes Thompson down game on there.
There's a lot of talent.
The play was incomplete the pass play incomplete some Thompson with talent but Toledo Cleveland was just beaten on.
That play you could see clear Toledo Orlando Cleveland was the defender on that long pass playing that was in pretty good shape.
Trey Fletcher, 24, catches this season for 363 yards and four touchdowns.
He just about had his fifth one on that big play.
But with the incompletion, it still looks like Trent Thompson coaches a little bit unsettled back there in the pocket as we see his sail to the top.
One minute there a minute ago, they're still a little high.
THOMPSON Eight of 11, 123 yards and two interceptions.
We got a time out there by McEachern.
I want to talk about the play call it second team pretty pretty important play right here because they're in field goal range.
Let's take a break with the score scoreless between Hillgrove and McEachern.
726 in the second.
We'll be back after these messages on GPB drop.
All right scoreless here in the second quarter Gil Tyree, coach Dave Hunter and Trey McDaniel.

Downstairs to Jon Nelson for the first time tonight.
MALLETT Thank you.
Once again, let's recap what's going on.
Don't go anywhere.
When we hit the halftime, it is the best, most high school halftime show.
Guys, help me out.
Bar.
No, thank you.
We've got rent check with Jackie, we've got principals, we've got Aetna Wellness champs.
We've got a whole bunch of other stuff.
We've got a feature on this great building.
We've got halftime scores and a whole bunch of other as they call officially here in the biz stuff.
Stay tuned.
Let's get.
Back upstairs.
Thank you, John.
I'm a good coach, as they say.
Jackie, can you say that?
No, I can't.
Good luck.
Good luck with that.
I could have told you you're going to get shut down on that one, guys.
Here you go.
In the run, pass mix, MacEachern 34 yards rushing.
123, passing most of it on that 69 yard pass to Fletcher that took him down to the Hart territory.
You got a close look up.
Close and personal.
I thought tapes of the quarterback from McEachern drops back escapes, but it's set back at about the 34 yard line.
Coach is signaling that it's a procedural penalty.
Well, that's it.
We know there's a yellow flag on the field.
Yeah, sure.
We do a lot of flags here.
We are following us around, guys.
This is a week in and week out here.
Where we're, what, week?
Six weeks, seven.
Weeks.
And we're still seeing yellow.
Got to see Bobby Preston.
Give us the signal.
Illegal procedure.
No, he declined.
Oh, now they got it.
Third and third in 12 because we had a two, two yard sack right down on Thompson.
Good coverage, SACK.
Well, Hillgrove is bringing some pressure, though, and they put starting to put some pressure on the quarterback.
Third and about like coach said third over about 14 now to 23 for the McEachern Indians.
A scoreless ballgame here in Potter Springs between Hillgrove and McEachern, a throwback by Thompson the intended receiver over there was Victor Brennan and it's a complete deal.
They came out the two tight end set.
He rolled out bootleg out to his right, turned around, tried to throw that screen to Victor Brannan.
But I don't know if Victor Brandon was in the wrong spot, but it looked like Thompson might have short arm did a little bit.
And they're going to bring in one of the best coaches in the state here who we saw guys warming up, hitting them from 60 yards.
And a guy who was recruited by everybody.
Right, Matt Nicholas Saint Germain that right now little Tennessee Georgia southern as extended offers South Carolina reportedly will extend an offer themselves.
So I saw one of the Georgia Tech assistant coaches here tonight look like this is a 4940.
Nine yard attempt it off the leg of one Nicholas Saint Germain and so put McEachern up and draw first blood.
It's up.
It looks good.
And it is good from 49 guards Nick big time Saint Germain.
You know, I'm not sure that, you know.
I think he hit a two before you got enough.
He got enough.
He did.
You can see kicked right on through the ball.
It's a little bit low.
What he's been taking, though, what we saw in the warm up, he's still good.
He's got five yards to spare.
I believe he can make it from 50.
Five little side over and over it.
And he gets it doesn't matter.
That's right.
I got beat one time by Mark Fleetwood, present coach at Peachtree Ridge.
He was the quarterback at Lakeside in 1978.
He kicked a knuckleball and skinned the crossbar and legs out.
When I was at Peachtree and beat it three to nothing.
You gave him an earful.
Yeah, he did.
I every time I see him, I gave it to him.
He could take them any way.
He gets it right.
It was raining and he good.
Funny how we all remember stuff like that.
Yeah I remember that when he blocked.
I've said that before on the air.
Yeah.
Saved our bacon in eight plays.
44 yard drive, a 44 yard drive kept by the 49 yard field goal.
Field goal by one Nicolas Saint-Germain.
I do believe we have a three ball game and these two teams play to a 6448 game.
A year ago you took.
The words right out of my mouth.
Here you see the scoring drive, which was eight plays, 44 yards, but one of those was long pass and then they get pushed back by about 15 yards.
Well, they're lucky to have a lead at all here in the second quarter with the two big interceptions.
Archie made will kick off the ball, sails in the air and nothing pulled back by three.
So he'll goes will take over first and ten at their own 20 down three.
It's the student section they've got a student section in the endzone seems to be catching.
So I feel like really this is a great, great atmosphere and a tremendous crowd.
Yeah.
This place capacity girl coach said it before is about 12,000 and there's every bit of 12,000 people here tonight.
And let me thank both these schools for it for the access all week.
So child and their coach Tottenham couldn't have been more gracious.
The guys and.
Giving us access coming out here just visiting with everybody from everybody on down, the administrators of both these schools tables here.
The teacher has been outstanding people here to pass complete to Ironside and is complete over there at the reception IS to Evan Ingram and he is up and it close to the 40 yard line a gain of about 17.
They have nice composure by the quarterback Elijah Ironside.
Really nice composure, but they had good protection.
Yeah.
And they have Ingram listed as a tight end on their depth chart, but he's been more of a slot receiver here tonight.
I believe that was his third catch here.
We See Drake again?
That Drake around the right side gets over the 40 up to about the 43 yard line and over there for MacEachern making the tackle.
No show no chance I suppose in the opening excuse me game okay told us in the open they want to throw the ball and throw the screens and throw the ball on first down and try to run Drake on second third down, hoping that the defensive front would get tired, particularly in the fourth quarter.
We'll see your.
Hands mafia's among those who made the tackle on Drake.
Drake again over with the football gets into the 45 post to midfield again yellow flags thrown on a play.
That will likely be holding and goodness gracious I got to say, Darius English was in the backfield again on that play when Coach Hawkins said that he was virtually unblockable and the number one offense hates going up against the number two defense in practice because they can't stop him.
You can see why he.
Is a man among boys out.
Yes, he yes, he is.
And you can see why he's head of Tuscaloosa.
You can you can see why Nick Saban is listed.
He's at another level, of course, just thinking he did get.
Well, I'm talking about Darius English.
He's going to South Carolina.
These guys are going to end up playing each other in the coming years.
Drake in English.
So the bad blood that they're giving this progresses at all.
He and he gets a defensive ends.
It might be bad news, but you're right.
But, you know.
Great point, coach.
Here we are again.
Here we are again.
Second down in 17 after behind the back out after the fake for the screen pass.
And they give it to you, Drake.
He gets over the 30 yard line about to the 32.
Drake So for eight carries 44 yards on the ground is rushing numbers at a bring up about a 3017.
I love Marlow and.
You can see you can see the see the statistics down on the defensive end from McEachern right there.
You're saying this is such a such played so well so far in this game.
Man in motion as Drake and the pass is completed.
And incomplete and dropped by Drake out in the right flat.
Yeah that was a lateral.
Pass that everything that was a lot of football.
They're going to scrimmage and run it out the 26 yard line or punt rather from the 26 yard Rhodes is behind.
This is a behind throw.
If you draw a straight line from the quarterback that receiver was behind him and it McEachern had to get on that ball.
It would have been a fumble.
It is considered a fumble.
Aren't such numbers.
Five of 848 yards punter will come in the punt for Hillgrove and back to receive for McEachern there's Fletcher and up at a tower tenor at his own 15 the bouncing snap gets it up high and over it.
I'll bet a towel will let it take a Hillgrove bounce and it'll settle there close to midfield about at the 49 he'll take over there will be to make it Indians 19 yards the putt for Petter let's go down stairs again to a job Nelson just.
About the relationship that these two coaches have with each other.
When the opening came here at McEachern, when Jimmy Dorsey, retired coach Ironside actually told Coach Dorsey and I'm going to paraphrase here that you'd be crazy not to hire Kyle Hockman as the head coach.
Talk about the relationship that these two guys have.
While Hillgrove and McEachern may not necessarily like each other, these two guys are as tight as you can get.
And it goes back to those two guys at Campbell with the Spartan program.
That's the Thompson going to be at Ottawa up close to about the 40 yard line in the Hill Girls heritage.
Yeah.
Land of Cleveland came up in in wrapped up role.
Well he wasn't able to to bring him down immediately but tackling guys has been an epidemic at the high school level, the college level, the professional level.
These two teams here tonight, coach, are doing a good job.
They sure are.
I was just going to comment on that.
Plus, it comes this week and he bust the same.
Well, what if.
That state's legit.
And they finally fumbles.
The football and it's recovered by Hillgrove at the 45 yard line and Justin Haney is there.
To recover it for.
Hillgrove another.
Another but teaching turnover third one of the night.
Nifty moves in the middle of the field, but it doesn't do you any good if you don't take the ball with you.
Trey Fletcher had some green grass in front of him.
He was trying to cut all the way across to the open side of the field and get down that far sideline.
But the big hand this comes in there of Justin Haney comes up from his whip position and the ball stays right on the ground for him to pounce on.
Give us that replay again.
Please give it to you right now.
Thank you.
You can see his slide cross that.
That's the Jets and he just pulls that ball out.
That's a great play by the defender.
And he cut back a little bit too much.
answer time looking and the pass is incomplete.
First at for Hillgrove at the 35 Ironside throws in the flat the screen is to Drake he's over the 40 upended about close to about the 41 yard line and a gain or close to a first down.
This with the big tackle there Kenyan Drake when he gets a big head of steam you don't want to take him on above the waist Mathias did a great job of coming up in submarine in him a little bit but a five yard pickup another in another screen on first down.
Gain of about 4/2 and six at the 39 The intended receiver over there for Hillgrove was Evan Ingram and it was incomplete.
We got a blitz from the linebacker at McEachern.
He timed this perfectly because he came clean in the backfield, looked like Troy Polamalu, and fortunately for Ironside, he was able to get rid of the ball, but he took a big hit.
And third and six at the 39 under 4 minutes to go until halftime turn and again try to draw McEachern offsides they rose hillgrove offense and Ironside continues to look over on the sidelines too.
His dad and his dad, Philip, decides to take a timeout.
And that's Antoine Jones just trying to time the snap out.
Our roster says he's number 54, but he's actually number 46.
Hard to believe that.
If you would have told me coming to this football game that McEachern would turn the football over three times Gold State and lead by a count of three.
Nothing I would tell you you are fill in the blank.
Well, you probably tell me.
I was a little bit nuts, if not full blown.
However, every time they've given the ball to Hillgrove, they've shot theirself in the foot as well with penalties.
Get ready for a huge TV battle next Friday between Flowery Branch and Heritage concerts.
We begin our coverage at 8 p.m. on GPB.
We're covering it all.
It's got to be big, big, big and big bang.
We get on the road a little bit.
Yeah, we do.
You want to get on the road.
And.
We'll get it on the road a little bit next week.
I've got a bed available at home.
If you want to stay short, stay the night, keep already.
Plenty of reservations.
Keep the lights off.
No room service.
36 of the 39.
All right.
SAT throws in a flat that's at least close to midfield.
And that's a first down for Hillgrove.
You get a pop.
Tart, the cup of water you get.
Really well I like that mix long among those all the top tackle for McEachern and that'll be a first down Take a look at the replay coaches take us through.
It.
See this slowly into Evan Ingram he just stands in the pocket well and throws it in.
That same location is in the three deep zone and he throws it in the same.
And here comes the rake.
Turn in the corner.
He's at the 40 close to inside the 40 yard line about down to about the 38 of Hillgrove area.
I mean, excuse me, if a teacher in this draft for Hillgrove continues.
Coach from the shotgun position, from the, from what they're calling a sawed off shotgun to the pistol the See McEachern lineup.
And that's just a student body.
Right.
And you can get away with doing that when you've got KENYON Drake.
I'm surprised they haven't tried to do that a little bit more.
His speed just really takes over.
Drake ten carries 54 yards.
That was and that was acreage off the shot game.
Right.
They they ran a little wildcat and that was a gain of about two yards.
Fakes the ball down to to give it to KENYON Drake and then really nice tackle there by the defender you can say number 52 making a nice tackle on that play of the linebacker from McEachern.
Azar Wilson.
An offensive penalty there after the big play after him.
And in aggregate, they commit the penalty that's going to give them a first down and they're cooking a little bit here.
Get a personal foul or something.
The preliminary indications indicated that coach that'll bring up a first and tell it to 25 at Oak Grove Ironside looking.
In the end has a man in for the touchdown for the score for the Hill Graham Hawks is Kevin Cameron right down the middle 25 yards.
Goodness gracious.
A little bit of a seam route right down the middle.
And I think he surprised Cameron a little bit with this pass.
Luckily to hit him in the shoulder pad, he was able to trap it and then it was nothing but goal line in front of him.
Coach said yesterday that Cameron has been nursing a little bit of a pull growing.
I didn't see it on that play.
It was nice.
Another nice throw by young sophomore quarterback, a large onside.
They faked the screen outside which throws the strong safety and then he threw it right behind.
Andrew gone in for the extra point for Hillgrove to snap the kick.
It looks good and that's what it is good.
That's going to.
Be a personal foul on Eddie Thomas.
Probably.
He said something coming off the field.
I think he's going to get it.
Unsportsmanlike conduct after that after the extra point.
Six play 65 yards the elapsed time at minute 39 the 25 yard touchdown from Ironside to Cameron.
And the extra point Feigen gives Hillgrove the Hawks a73 lead to 43 late in the second quarter, coach.
They got the personal foul penalty called on MacEachern.
I don't know what the penalty was for the scoring drive, you see, with six plays for 65 yards a minute, 38 with a great throw to Kelvin Cameron from Elijah hands out after they fake that screen outside.
They've been throwing that screen a lot, all those screens outside.
So he throws him now, taking that ball outside.
He threw it right behind the foul and safety in that hole.

The great folks here at GPB with the wonderful brandy.
They're going to be kicking off from the 45 yard line, not the normal 45 yard line.
The other side of the 50.
Thanks to the personal foul, this one is likely to.
Go through the end zone.
Austin Trevor will kick it and put it way out of.
Bounds in the parking lot.
No question about it.
And the Indians, the gateway will take over first in ten at their own, 20 down for 7 to 3, the Hillsboro.
Where 2 minutes and 43 seconds away from both these teams, sit in the locker room, the story in the locker room on both sides.
I think coach is going to be penalties and keeping your poise.
I think the first team to knock out the mistakes and stop killing themselves is the team that's going to win the game.
I think that's certainly true, but they've got plenty of time because they're a throw team.
They run the ball just to keep them honest, but they are throwing teams, so they've got plenty of time to get the ball down the field.
Absolutely.
All right.
Thompson brings his troops up, trailing by 47 to 3, courtesy of the Hillgrove touchdown.
Ironside to Cameron.
They get straight ahead getting over the 20 close to the 23 yard line is Mike Sherman.
And in there for four Hillgrove making the tackle see you it was a big wrestler big guy likes to get after.
Keep in mind Gill both these teams have two timeouts remaining and no sense of urgency right now so far for McEachern.
Various student safety guidelines to let our listeners WQXR seven nobody doesn't know and our viewers here.
Jacob.
That's Thompson sprinting out looking finding a receiver there that's at a tower out of bounds close to the 35 yard line in pursuit over there for for the Hillgrove Hawks was Ricard Drey Bagley.
This is an extremely impressive throw this his left handed sprinting right turns his shoulders and hits him right on the right on the out of bounds line.
Excellent catch but really impressed by the throw whether they're running to the right, going with his left hand.
First down McEachern at their own 34, they trailed seven three late second here in Powder Springs.
They give again to Sherman.
He spins and Moses lay close to the 40 yard line.
The thing about these pass oriented offenses, guys, and to our listeners and our viewers at home, is everything is based on timing.
We saw the timing a little bit off in the first quarter as me and Coach both thought that Thompson missed an easy touchdown to Fletcher, which ended up an interception, it looks like he's really showing the poise that Coach has been bragging about.
Fernando Bentley on the tackle.
They spread him out in the kitchen.
That's Thompson over at Ottawa.
He's at the 45 yard line, about to the 46.
That's close to a first down.
It is a first down for the state hunter.
It's a first down.
They get that clock stop.
That's the most important thing.
Minute 31.
And our timeout situation terrific that.
Still two apiece they've got a ton of time A ton of time.
It's first and ten at the 45 yard line.
Thompson The screen in the flat right there.
And that is tough.
Boy, that's Silas Fletcher and our man Silas over there.
Talk about showing that any chance if if Fletcher hadn't gone down on his rear end, I don't know if his helmet would have stayed on or not because Silas was like a miss.
Silas gave him a rude introduction.
John Silas, six foot one, £215, senior at a.
Whole lot of man.
This is an inside rocket screen called the rocket screen.
It comes inside.
But Silas meets him in the.
Oh, goodness gracious, boy, I've been impressed with him.
Hey, we got a time out.
And I got to say, when the Hillgrove.
Players went over to meet the coaches, they're on their sideline at midfield.
He was fired up.
Ironside went right into the huddle.
His team is fired.
Up right now, although McEachern moved the ball and they got to feel great about themselves right now because they're up in this football game.
Hill 64 to 48 last year, seven.
To three right now with the minute that folks were fired, of course, we got a great halftime show, Mark Harmon to score.
And this is also Jon Nelson all.
Getting ready to get some great stuff to bring it to.
You have got that you can tell from both games though.
If they can ever get the kick and stop hurting themselves.
They'll be some points in the second half.
Check those numbers out, coach.
Right now, offensive numbers.
Thompson is 12 of 16 for 149 yards, two interceptions, and they've lost a fumble at a time.
We was six receptions for 108 yards.
Second down at ten at the 45 yard line for the McEachern Indians, they trail Hillgrove 7 to 3, a battle of unbeaten top ranked Indians on the ropes right now.
But we're approaching halftime here.
Glad to have you with us here on GPB at 790, The Zone Thompson sprinting out.
Looking long has a receiver out there.
The pass is complete for the touchdown.
What like it looks great Fletcher Treyvon Simmons on the coverage he was the guy that if you want to call him beat on that previous 69 yard throw to Trey Trey Fletcher was all over him again and he wasn't having anything of it.
He didn't give up.
It looked like Fletcher had the ball perfect throw again.
Coached by Thompson and good separation.
A little bit of a push off there by Fletcher.
He may have missed the camera and stayed with it.
He didn't want to get beat again.
If he didn't.
Stick his left hand in there, that would have been a touchdown.
It's about Simmons with him stride for stride.
The pass incomplete brings up a third and ten at the 40 573 Hillgrove in front of McGee through the pass.
The intended receiver over there was Victor Brennan and that pass is incomplete.
Second, try to bring.
Up before Thompson can get his feet set.
Miscommunication there I think he thought he thought he was going to stop ran and took off.
That's fourth down that's a huge opportunity missed there because as coach said, if they cross over midfield they're in scoring position with Saint Germain.
They were only five yards away from there.
If they could have picked up one more first down, they could have gotten more points, but they don't have only 1/2 down.
You know, they went for all of it and had a chance.
And I pay the pay.
The fiddler fill in the blank ahead.
You like that one?
Don't get Gill giggling up here baby might not stop.
All right back to receive is Telvin Cameron.
Saying Jermaine can punt now.
To send you Drake but punt by Saint Germain and over at short goes out of bounds right at the 30 yard line where Hillgrove will take over first and ten at 25 yards making me look.
Bad because now he punts at 25 yards.
I throw some 55 yard punts in the pre game that would look like it went off the side of his foot.
The curse of the thing that's really going to probably is such it makes it I'm not sure you'll see him set on the ball here they may and they try to run one of these screens on first down, see what they can get and if they get good field position, maybe take a chunk at the end zone.
I just to tell our folks it was.
Like, no, they're going to they're going to kneel down.
The World Wide Web listening outside.
The 79 year old WQXR will close it in on halftime that they'll let the clock run out.
The Hillgrove Hawks and they have a73 lead.
Little peculiar.
The kneel down.
I agreed with the coach Gil.
I thought if they could have run a play on first down, if they would have been able to pick up ten or 15 yards, that would give them maybe the confidence they needed to maybe take a shot.
So I'm a little surprised here, but they're going the conservative route since they a lead.
Coach under before I throw it downstairs.
And Mark you're surprised by the lack of scoring in this.
Jam with the firepower both teams had they have just mauled themselves, for lack of a better word, with penalties and turnovers and and they've hurt themselves badly.
But remember, McEachern gets the ball to start the second half and they can turn it all around.
Trey McDaniel Right.
And here you see some more chipping this out of the field.
This is what Coach is talking about.
I know it's a rivalry.
You don't want to tell your players to not be aggressive.
But this is inexcusable because at some point your aggression, it gets to a point of diminishing returns where it actually inhibits you from being able to run your offense and run your defense and win a football game.
So you got to be aggressive, but you also have to be poised and keep your wits about you.
Neither one of these two teams is doing that right now, and that's why it's 7 to 3.
A large outside will get going and kneel down and that might do it to it.
And he won't even get a chance to go in.
And Neil Bennett does it for the first half of this football game, but he'll go out in front of MacEachern.
By the count of seven.
To three, who would have thunk it?
64 to 41 last year.
At 7 to 3 right now.
And of course, Mark Harmon and the great crew will have a wonderful halftime show for you.
And let's go, dad.
Okay.
Jon Nelson trying to find both coaches.
Now, let's go downstairs to Jon Nelson, who's standing by with Hill Grose, Philip Ironside, coach.
And Jon, it's yours.
Thank you.
Let's talk about that first half.
I know that the turnovers are probably getting into a little bit.
Oh, it is.
You know, a few penalties called right there.
Who knows?
You know, did we do it?
Didn't do it.
I thought the kids held their composure.
Well, defense was quite outstanding.
And then to get the score there right for the house because and at the same time, this game is not like last year at all.
I didn't expect it to be.
We're not as explosive at the quarterback position, which kind of slows down the heat.
A game like this, and they'll get their offense broke and go to get them in there and get them going.
And there'll be a few more fireworks second half.
But I like our defense.
Dwight, thanks.
Thanks for your time.
Good luck in the second half.
What's in it?
Over the missing the house and Mark Harmon.
Don Nelson, thanks very much.
Coming up at halftime, we'll hear from both marching bands, both principal, some parents of special guests and have scores from all over the great state of Georgia.
That's all coming up next on the Football Fridays GPB halftime show.
Stay with us.
Argentina time for us.

Right now, the Hillgrove Hawks lead 7 to 3.
This is a battle of unbeaten couple of great Cobb County rivals.
They are also region four rivals.
That has been a slobber knocker of a defensive struggle right now.
The Hillgrove Hawks on top 7 to 3.
Your score at the half.
We have a big halftime show for you.
We're going to listen to both bands.
We'll hear from both principals.

Now, also, he has another shout out to quarterback Trent Thompson on and on his commitment to Georgia University.
The vibe online is that he will shine wherever he goes.
And then I also asked everybody online about KENYON Drake for Hillgrove, and if he alone is enough to beat the number one McEachern Indians.
And so far, 53% of you guys say, yes, he is.
So now let's jump into some of the results from our poll as they stand at the half right now, 93% of you guys say, no, the environment is absolutely essential to high school football and it would not be the same without it.

Now, joining me is one of the key trends.
You're the assistant band director here from McKeesport, Cecilia Seago.
You have an awesome by the way, I know you get that a lot, but thank you for joining us.
Let's jump into a couple of our questions.
How do you think the band contributes to winning football games here at McEachern?
Well, I not just here at McEachern, probably everywhere.
The band is just a part of the spirit.
It just keeps everybody engaged in what's going on in the game and kind of keeps the pacing going and everybody just really into the activity.
We want to remind everybody that your band will play for us shortly in a few more minutes.
Now, how big of a role does the band play at football games?
Because you guys have your own schedule, too.
You have performances.
So how important is it for you guys to be a part of the game, such as the one tonight where you can't find a seat on either side of the stands here?
I think if you're just if you could be here and see this, it's all about the community.
It's just an amazing environment that's created with combination of what's going on with the game and the teams and the cheerleaders.
It's just an awesome experience.
All right.
Well, it's intense down here.
It's intense online.
Mark, we're down on the sidelines.
Back to you.
Jacki, thanks so much.
We now welcome to our program, the principal from Hillgrove High School.
Mr. Robertshaw, thanks for coming on with us tonight.
Thanks, Mark.
It's my pleasure to be here.
So, so good for your team.
You're up seven three.
We're excited.
We knew it was going to be a tough game.
Two great teams, two undefeated teams and really show what Cobb County football is all about.
Talk a little about what's going on over at Hill Grove High School.
I know you have a lot of focus on the athletic fields also in the classroom.
Absolutely.
We have continue to make AYP and showed great growth in our test scores.
Our softball team won region for the first time last night as a five school.
The band that you hear behind you is getting ready to go competition in Jacksonville.
And it's all due to our amazing parents and students.
And it's just a great environment, a great culture.
And I couldn't be prouder to be their principal.
Now, Hill Grove's a pretty new school.
What do you see down the line?
Well, that's a great question.
We're about we're in our sixth year.
We've had a lot of growth in this student body, but we're excited about some of the facilities we're getting online.
Our foundation is raising money to to get a facility that really compliments the students and the parents and the community.
So there's a lot going on.
All right.
It's time to play that part of the game.
Are you smarter than so?
We're going to have you pick out a question from the Georgia graduation test out of our deep football helmet.
And here you go to help you picture us history.
And the question.
Is, I used to teach U.S. history.
In the Western expansion of the United States in the early 1800s provoked a congressional debate over the issue of slavery Congress, resolved this debate by a making the Louisiana Purchase B, passing a constitutional amendment c, adopting the Missouri Compromise, or D accepting the doctrine of nullification.
Administration.
C, adopting the Missouri compromise.
Absolutely right.
You are smarter than your students.
I'm not sure.
About that, but thank you.
Thanks so much for coming on line.
My pleasure.
And now let's send it over to Jacqui Britton with a segment that we call Rent Check.
Jackie, thanks.
Hey, thank you very much.
We check in on some of the parents of the student athletes and see how much they really know about their son.
And right now, joining me is John Silas Senior.
Your son is John Silas, a senior, a linebacker for for Hillgrove.
But first, you wanted to make a really quick shout out.
Yes, I like to say rest in peace, Roger Bennett, keep five alive.
That's a very story.
All right.
Let's get to rent check really quick.
Thank you for that.
All right.
Now, what's the one class your son would never miss?
Because it's his favorite.
Besides, the lunch is econ.
That's right.
All right.
Ride along.
Number two.
His favorite book.
His favorite book.
Harry Potter.
Harry Potter series.
Right.
All right.
And if John wasn't playing football, he would be.
He did lacrosse as a freshman.
So he probably play lacrosse in basketball.
Man, you're good at this.
You didn't read my cards, did you?
All right.
Number four.
Maybe.
His favorite teacher.
Oh, man.
All of them.
All right, Miss Blackman, his econ teacher.
So that's all we have time for tonight.
Thank you for joining us.
And thank you for that shout out.
Martha wraps up over here.
I'll be back for the second run.
Check out just a little bit.
Back to you.
All right, Jacqui, thanks so much.
We're going to hear from the McEachern Band in just a minute.
But first, if you like DB's presentation of high school football throughout the state of Georgia, you can show your appreciation by texting GPB, a $10 donation.
All you have to do is text the letters GPB to the number 85944.
Be sure to reply.
Yes.
Message and data rates may apply.
We're going to take a short break, but when we come back, we'll hear from the McEachern marching band and much, much more.
All that and more on the football Fridays in Georgia halftime show.
We're back after this timeout.
Welcome back to the GPB Football Fridays in Georgia halftime show.
Right now, the Hillgrove Hawks lead the McEachern Indians 7 to 3 at the half and time.
Now we're going to check in with the McEachern Marching Band with the sounds of Beethoven.
Let's listen in.
While the McEachern Marching Band continues to play, we welcome into the program the Principal McEachern High School, Regina Montgomery.
Regina, thanks for coming on.
I tell you, we watched your band practice about 4:00 this afternoon.
They do a tremendous job.
Thank you very much.
They did a good job.
They worked very hard at it.
We're very proud of them.
Now you've got a lot of things going on at McEachern High School.
Let's talk about.
That peer tutoring program.
We have a great peer tutoring program.
We started it this year.
We have decided that there are no better teachers of our kids than our kids.
So we've enlisted the help of our students to help other students who may be struggling.
And it has allowed both groups of students to really come into their own.
We've got time now to play Are You Smarter Than Your Students?
You can pick that question out of, that helmet there.
Go ahead.
Don't laugh.
I'm sure it's probably a tough one.
They usually, always are.
Oh, boy.
You going to science one?
So which of the following the most likely occurs with sound waves travel from air to water?
A The wave frequency increases.
B The wave frequency decreases.
C The speed of the wave increases, or D the speed of the wave decreases.
Why do you think c?
C is right?
The speed of the wave increases.
You are smarter than your students.
Congratulations.
Thank you.
Very much.
And you've got a great crowd here tonight over 12,000.
So congratulations on that.
Yes, it's a great rivalry.
These students go to school.
They don't go to school with each other, but they go to the same church.
They shop in the same grocery stores.
They really love each other.
But when it comes down to football, they have to go against each other.
That was exciting.
Well, thanks for coming on with us so much.
It's great to have you.
Let's check now in with Jackie Britain.
She's got another edition of Rent Check Jackie.
Thanks Mark.
Joining me now are Mike and Kim Thompson.
Their son is Trent Thompson.
Senior quarterback McEachern has committed to the Georgia State Panthers.
Thank you guys so much for joining me tonight.
Mike, I will start with you for the first question.
All right.
What is your your son's favorite athlete?
Who is.
Tom Brady?
Peyton Manning.
All right.
We're going to go to the masses over here for the second one.
His favorite teacher.
I'm going to say Miss Green about Nick.
Right.
And this child.
All right.
All right.
Let's see if we get one more.
Least favorite chore.
This one's got it.
Maybe this might be a little harder if he doesn't do it that much.
Working in the yard.
Taking out the trash.
All right, let's try.
Let's get one more in here.
Most likely to major in when he goes to Georgia.
Physical therapy, this guy's case for closing up.
Margaret out of here.
Back to you.
Hey, Jackie, thanks so much.
We welcome John Nelson back into the program.
And John, you spent a lot of time this week at McEachern.
They've got a huge building project going.
On 12 years or 12, $12 million over ten years.
And this minute, 36 will barely scratch the surface.
Welcome to our new health, physical education and wellness center here on the campus of McEachern High School.
This has been ten years in the making.
It's got a lot of different aspects and parts to it that we're very proud of.
We've got, of course, physical education classes and health classes are housed in this building, along with the faculty wellness aspect.
White rooms for both male and female and a press box addition that that comes up out of this building.
So we're extremely proud of it.
And we're just getting started in at the beginning of the school year and it should serve our school for many years to come.
And we've walked into our main gymnasium area inside this facility.
As you can see, we've got three basketball volleyball courts that are side by side, separated by curtains that drop down to separate the courts.
As you have different activities going on this this entire building, about 90% of this building has some form of mondo flooring surface on it.
We have different kinds of mondo flooring in this particular facility.
This is our 7800 square foot men's white room.
We have 28 hammer strength power stations here with our Mondo floor in light, clean platforms.
We can we can comfortably lift about 120 kids.
And this facility, it's a very spacious, very well outfitted.
You can basically whatever you need to get done from a weight training standpoint, you should be able to get it done.
Now, once again, I told you that minute, 36 just barely begins to cover it.
The press box behind me, go ahead and let them see it, Darryl.
Three levels for us, press type folks, two for suites.
And we got the stuff off the top.
Now, also, Coach Dorsey went on a longer version of that tour.
Go to Gboard next week and you can see the full version of the tour of the new facilities here at McEachern.
Mark I am out of breath.
John That was a heck of a 50 yard dash.
Good job.
Time now to check out scores from around the state of Georgia on the Georgia EMC scoreboard.
So let's check things out.
We start off with the game on the web, north Gwinnett in Norcross, the score that one fellows we've got it now we got Roswell and Centennial 14 to 13 that in the second Parkview is leading central Gwinnett seven nothing that game in the second quarter the cool is getting beat by grace a 20 to nothing at halftime Alpharetta leading Milton 7 to 6 at the half It is Collins Hill trailing Peachtree Ridge 13 to 7 at the half blessed the Trinity leads Jackson Atlanta That's a final 2113 2112 North Clayton leads Tri-Cities by a touchdown at the half Sprayberry leads higher end 14 to 6 at halftime Junior time now for our know well must champion high school sports and physical fitness go hand in hand we welcome in Kelly Toon, the area supervisor for food and nutrition services for the Cobb County School System.
Thanks for coming on.
Absolutely.
Just tell us a little bit what the Cobb County system is doing to help students be more fit.
Well, as far as physical fitness, we encourage students to be physically active.
Each school has at least one physical activity and nutrition activity that they do for students as well as faculty and staff.
What about parents?
What can parents do to help their kids, you know, be more motivated and be healthier?
Well, we encourage kids, our parents, to take time for family meals.
It's a great opportunity for them to be role.
Models for healthy eating habits.
If you had one piece of advice to give to these youngsters to be more physically fit and have a healthy lifestyle, what would that be?
Well, I would encourage them to have fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low fat, dairy.
In addition, look for trans fat free items.
Well, thanks for coming on.
She's Kelly Toon.
She's our Aetna wellness champion.
And now let's check in with Chrissy Wardlow, our meteorologist.
He has the weather for the second half and the drive home.
Chrissy.
Hey, Mark, thanks.
We are having a great football game here and we'll get back to that in just a second.
But first, here's your weather for halftime.
We'll look at that starry sky, 64 degrees when it's out of the east at five miles per hour by fourth quarter will be cool and pleasant.
Still have the wind from the east at five miles per hour, 61 degrees Saturday Indian Summer, y'all.
79 degrees the windowsill from the East Sun though we may get some tropical rains.
In fact, it's looking like there may be a tropical system, maybe not quite so much a storm, but a system will make its way up from the Florida coast into the southeastern cities like Augusta, like Savannah, possibly 1 to 2 and a half inches for Sunday.
But here in north central Georgia, we may get just a little sprinkle of rain, but other than that, it's a beautiful day for football.
Mark I'm ready for the conclusion of this.
How about you?
Chrissy I'm ready as well.
We are at halftime of the seven three Hillgrove over McEachern in a battle of unbeaten.
But before we get to the second half action, we want to show you a way that you can show your appreciation for our high school football coverage here on GPB.
If you can help out texting a $10 donation to GPB to keep programing like this on the air, all you have to do is text the letters GPB to the number 85944.
Be sure to reply yes and message and data rates may apply.
Well, it's time now for the second half of action.
We send it up to my three amigos.
We're going to call the action Gil, Dave and Trey with the play play.
Take it away.
All right, Mark, thank you.
Our halftime score is seven three Hillgrove out in front of McEachern.
Still to come, first half highlights the start, the second half and also stats of the first half.
Dave and Trey will join me after these very important messages on GPB.
I'm never gonna say I'm not gonna turn my back on it.
Back here at Powder Springs Hillgrove out in front of McEachern seven three, Coach and Trey.
Let's take a look at the first half highlights of this football game and where we are thus far.
You can see that this.
Is the throw from Thompson he's two flat but it is it is great great play by Jon Silas on the interception here's another interception down the sideline Trey get this one That was Naqvi on Leslie picking off That would be touchdown pass at the end of the pick Another flat throw that you made and then the 49 yard field goal for Saint Germain, the only scoring in the first half for McEachern.
We get a big you get a big round here from the kitchen and then the ball is stripped by Justin Haney.
The defensive back makes a great play to make that makes their third turnover.
And then it's a great fake throw down the middle of the field the number 28 for the Hillgrove Hawks.
It's Cameron.
Kent.
Kelvin Cameron thank you.
After the fake screen which froze the free the strong take you through right behind his shoulder great throw it say the result to the rushing yards 52 to 45 in favor of Hillgrove McEachern has an advantage in the in the passing yards the total yards I think that's a little wrong it's 199 and 140 and then the first down to nine for the Trey.
You saw the penalties.
Absolutely.
That always tells the story.
When we come out of halftime and a turnover, your eyes go right to that because that tells the story of the first half and it told the story here tonight.
I would start the second half.
Trevor, as will kick.
Off the man, the up man taking the football is in.
We see the flag right there.
That is it.
Xavier Jackson.
And Xavier Jackson is over the 35 yard line, about to the 36.
And we have flags on the play.
Almost as if they heard what we were talking about, another flag or ten yard penalty first down.
And that's the spot of the foul.
To the individual first half stats Ironside eight of 12 for 88 yards Drake ten of 54 Rushing Ingram for 51 receiving those the leaders for Hill go for McEachern Thompson 12 of 18 for 149 yards and two pick tip picks as coach alluded to Wells Jelani Wells three carries 21 yards and I do a tower six receptions 108 yards turnovers three for McEachern two a courtesy of the 81 fumble and Hillgrove a big gooseneck coach.
Yeah first half I mean just no turnovers for them but they really had problem with the penalties.
The official so far really in the game because they saw no flags you could tell as Ironside was going off John talked to him at halftime.
He said couple of them.
We might have committed a couple of them we might not have committed.
So you can tell he didn't agree with some of those calls.
The penalty will back up mceachern and that is passes completely.
Thomas too at a tower.
It's up to the 45 yard line.
And that's the first down gain of 30.
And though they've tried to go deep a couple of times to Trey Fletcher and they've been successful once, but it looks like his go to guy tonight is on.
But at Ottawa, he's got a great rapport with him and so far all but one of his passes at Ottawa have been on the mark as well.
I'm going to tell a six foot two, £180 senior.
That's a little taller over the middle of the field.
And here we see him.
He's committed to Maryland and here they go deep again.
Player profile, November tower and then the pass over there, the pass was incomplete.
The intended receiver was straight.
Fletcher, who had one on one coverage.
They like that big ball on first and second down.
They want to go for that big play.
Puts them a little behind the sticks, but it's good protection on both of these throws so far.
He into Lando Cleveland going after it there you see the coverage.
Coach hockman patrolling the sideline is for season 30 and eight.
He is really brought this program back.
And how they miss him over at Campbell High School.
Absolutely.
I mean, he and both sides that really built that Spartan program and it is struggling.
That program has an erroneous spot in your heart.
Gilbert So you.
Live in that in that community, and you'd love to see them get back to where they need to be.
And they got two guys on these two sidelines that I bet they wish they still had.
Two guys who worked at Smyrna Community.
Showtime went door to door to get the community involved.
The teacher in big, big play, third and fourth.
Their midfield.
Up they.
Got it to go broke territory he.
Gets he gets a good spot so they got that right getting in is.
Gets a good.
Spot and you see the play oh let's see that.
Team come off tackle and then it's a nice block there by his fullback that's Shaquille.
That number 28.
And so they've run two straight plays to gain ten yards.
That's a good sign for them.
Throwing the ball.
Good protection again by Thompson, who's.
At receiver over there and somebody totally.
That's a footsteps he heard him coming He's got Treyvon Simmons coming up to hit him That's the pass that set up this drive after the penalty on the kickoff and now they tried to go to it again, a little in route, little curling route.
Great observation and.
An accurate throw, too, but I'm not really sure the first laps and concentration of the.
Night, Fred, second and ten on the 45 to give is to Wells and he is close to the 40 yard line about at the 41 and the stop is to Corey Grizzly that's it.
Counter Trey play we've seen most of our other teams run when they pull those two linemen in front of them, one kicks out the end.
One pulls up on the linebacker after they misdirect one way and the other.
Looks like they're trying to establish a little bit of a run game.
We know they're a pass oriented team, but they're they were able to pick up the last first down by running it back to back.
We'll see what they do here.
Over there to make the stop is Fernando Bentley.
Oh, that guy's down by the towel at the 30 yard line.
That's good for close to a first day.
That is the second time tonight that that a towel has caught the ball on this near sideline and gotten only one points out.
And he has really pops and throws it down and snatches it out of the air with his hand.
That's some thing for you.
Look at that.
Look at that.
Puts it foot down inbounds just got to have one and has good.
First and ten at the 31 for Lakey true they trail in this football game the hill seven three and Thompson rolls left under pressure looks over.
On the right side has a play over there.
The pass is complete and.
Then pushed out of bounds.
It looked like Fletcher at about the 20 yard line.
We got a flag.
And we have a flag two on the plate fair.
He has some.
Laundry, very long developing play.
They fake the counter tray, which most people don't do because it takes so long and then ran a bootleg, then ran through a phenomenal pass on the run it in.
And I believe Fletcher caught it.
But I'm sure what the flag is illegal formation six min in the line of scrimmage on the offense five yard penalty feet two down.
We've got two flags on the line up here and then another flag down at the 18 yard line.
I'm not sure what that one was for, but all they called an illegal touch like you can see, called an illegal touch because that guy was covered up by an inside line.
He just going to back them up guys first and 15.
I still like to throw it on first down six penalties for 70 yards so far for McEachern they keep this up they're going to get to the century mark before the fourth quarter.
First and 16 at the 35 of Hopewell the mceachern Indians drive at the start of the second half here in Potter Springs guilt Tyree along with coach other coach Dave hundred Trey McDaniel the pass thrown over there incomplete intended receiver over there for McEachern number 18 Victor Browning at the 25.
Little high throw he's been he's a very accurate passer he dismissed him high that time this is a critical down because it's second down and 16.
They've got to get and got to get back 6 to 8 of these yards right here and a great pocket on the last play they are giving Thompson time to throw but he has been a little bit inconsistent that's very uncharacteristic for him if he could sustain.
The screen that's to Sherman but he is bottled up and then about at the 40 yard line and pushed back over there with mama.
There goes that man again, John Chance, Silas number.
Oh, he's in the middle of it.
Boy has this guy number five.
You guys you guys at home just watch number five.
They come with the screen, the number 14, the tailback.
And here comes Silas.
He just.
Loves it.
He just not going to be he's going to be like a shark.
He smells blood.
In the water.
Jaylen Reed, 75, big fella, he's there.
You see him in the middle of it.
Silas is what high school football is all about.
Absolutely.
A quick count to give the showman.
He is again.
Number five right there.
Yeah, a little help from his buddy Dylan Mitchell as well.
The two of them.
There to combine for a.
Tackle.
We're going to say you can see Silas, number five is just he made the move from opposing quarterback.
You can see he's considering all the academies he's an outstanding student, as his coach said, but he was a quarterback and then a defensive back.
And now his coach says, quote, He is playing lights out.
He said, I would won't play against this.
He said a very smart football player.
And the reason he moved around so much, guys, is he said shoulder surgery in back to back seasons.
And so he's playing lights out this year because he hasn't had a chance to show what he's made of the past couple of seasons because of injury.
So he's playing good football.
He's more than making up for it tonight.
I thought we might get a field goal here.
Long, long field goal, but we're going to get a punt play field position and it's a good one here.
We'll turn it back, take it away from Drake.
I think that's on about the eight yard line close to it.
Coach.
Yeah.
Right after 930, 30 yard punt for one Tyler Smith back, get ready for a new season of Georgia Outdoors on GPB.
You'll be able to cozy up with the bats, hang on the beach with the sea turtles, kayak down the great Georgia rivers get wild with nature, watch Georgia outdoors at a new time, Sundays at 730 here on GPB.
I don't know if you guys noticed.
We've got all the Walton coaching staff here over there on the side of their office this week.
And I guess, you know, they want to come see this new facility here.
MACEACHERN See this?
I wouldn't let them off the elevator.
Yeah, they have to see this shoot.
Well, Coach Steve Jones is a county and Coach Steve Jones.
And I guess he brought them up with them.
Including head coach Steve Rocky and Coach Rocky Hidalgo and somebody with that big let let big win last week over Lasseter.
You saw it here on GPB and of course, an outstanding performance.
They enjoyed a great, awful week.
You got a wildcat formation here.
They faked to give and just go straight up the middle like I would do if I had KENYON Drake but a very physical that's Darius English tried to rip the head off of KENYON Drake.
Those guys have gotten into it a couple of times tonight, so any time they go mano a mano, we're going to see some.
Fireworks strike again over the right side, over the 20 close, the 20 yard line.
Right, right.
Right up to the 21.
Drake, again, 12 carries right now for 67 yards.
And you see why he.
Made his yard run.
That's an eight yard run it tremendous yard run.
And carrying people for the ride.
You can see why he's had it when he's.
He's accounted for about 840 yards of the team's offense and 12 touchdowns coming into the game.
And he only had just a shade over 50 yards coming out in the third quarter.
So I think it's going to be a heavy dose of Drake here, if they can if they're able to get some first downs, they can't get him the ball.
If it's three and out, he's going to have to pick up some first downs and they're going to have a measurement here to see if he got it last week.
Remember, Coach said he wanted a timeout out with those Hillgrove coach and then give him a steady dose of Drake in the third and fourth quarter.
So we may see that.
And they gave it to him first down.
That second effort, that tough run in the coach was talking about, gave him that first down and got him out of the shadow of their own goalpost.
Gil So they've got a little bit of life here.
They've got to have a penalty free drive here.
A Reggie in to replace Drake and will be the lone receipt, the lone setback behind Ironside first and ten at the 19.
The give is to Iraq.
He turns the corner.
It gets close to the 20 yard line about at the.
21, it came in a different formation.
They had four linemen and two wideouts on the same side, kind of over overload the defense, but they recognized it shifted over.
You can see this on the replay.
They run it straight off to the left.
You can't see the four linemen over there, but the McEachern defense shifted over.
And here's number eight again.
Goodness gracious.
The coach said he's virtually unblockable.
He wasn't kidding.
He's been in almost every single tackle and so have about eight out of 11 gold hats on every tackle.
Oh, he's out there only out there now.
Cameron again he swings it out does Ironside to Cameron.
He gets over the 30 yard line close to 35 and another possible first half.
They to go to Cameron in the passing game Gilly's got a.
Couple.
He had a couple of receiving touchdowns coming into this game and he scored the only touchdown so far tonight as well.
So he throws this bubble screen out there.
That's the bubble screen and then it just outruns him to the outside, makes a nice play, but he didn't throw it very far down the field.
He just knows it accurately.
Doesn't have to.
When you guys got guys to have wheels like that.
Tell pass him on the tackle for four.
Make sure the give straight ahead.
Spinning is great 5045 Nick Field spin down inside the 30 and a flag on the.
Flat.
A star looks like a West Collar facemask.
He's down to about the 30 yard line of McEachern, a run of 38.
It's been.
Stronger.
He did not score, but that's one of the best runs that we've seen all year.
Second effort.
Third effort.
Fourth effort.
The strength and the burst is what you'll notice on this play and the stiff arm to break free as he's going down the sideline.
Watch it.
Lots of runs over.
Stick for the fourth people, fourth runner.
And then we get a get the horse color.
That's that's Eddie Thomas.
He's been in on a lot of tackles, played well tonight but just did everything he could to just get him down.
Horse collar here.
15 yard penalty resulted in a first down.
Tackle and another 15 to that 38 and 53.
Facing the whole place is on their feet.
Boys, look at those guys.
KENYON Drake, 13 carries got over the 100 yard mark.
That means he's he's ran for about 50 yards here in about 5 minutes.
And the way he's playing right now, he can earn himself an appearance on the GPB sports blog, courtesy of Gil Tyree.
The catcher has seven penalties now for 85 yards and three turnovers.
Turning the corner inside the 15 down to about the 12 of McEachern.
And the clock continues to turn.
Trey McDaniel.
It's that.
Stretch.
And again, this time they go to the right instead of the left.
Irrigate can really run the football.
Of course, he's going to be playing in the shadow of Drake, but he's a pretty good player in his own right.
581 75 They've given him the ball a lot on first downs here so far tonight.
I think second and eight.
You got two backs for the first time we've seen I think this is this formation.
Out of the kitchen 13.
Stretch it turns.
The corner ten down to about the eight.
That's a great run there by a brigade like coach said they ran that stretch with two backs.
They also had Kelvin Cameron back there late that him lead up into the hole and he makes a nice block here for a reggae.
But again, they're rallying to the football to prevent the big play as McEachern.
Is there and McKenzie Billingsley for the McEachern Indians.
Third and three McEachern needs a stop badly.
Third and goal at the seven to give the 17 that straight turn in the corner down to five down to the four.
And you're indeed right, Coach Hunter That is a first down and that's all.
KENYON Drake That was an unbalanced line again right there.
Palmetto Oh, man.
On the right of the center.
Well, you know, Coach Ironside told us we want to give him the ball in the third and fourth quarter, but see if we can't tie him out with those screens and ball.
They thought them a lot of screens in the first half.
This game has gone just according to that recipe.
First and goal at the four the give to 17 again Drake.
39.
Looks for the end zone.
He smells the end.
I think he got the in their market and just a little short just a hair he reached the football out to try to get it over the pylon for pylon or touch the pylon.
But it's not end but he's close to it.
You can see him stretched to the right again and he takes it off to the outside and he just his foot steps out of bounds.
You can see that at the one yard line.
I've got to be careful doing, because if you fumble that back into the hole at the wall, he fumbled the ball.
And ahead the fumble.
Moves on it ball.
I think I got him back.
Hillgrove did recover it at the bottom of that pile.
Ironside Guys, I want to talk about this getting out of the center when we get a break.
This is really, really a critical down.
The same thing happened last week.
There they are, pistol, the shotgun team.
Then all of a sudden they get up on the center.
They're not used to that.
There's no fumble.
You can see the fumble.
Right.
That's a great they're not used to doing that.
Oh, great.
Camera work by.
Guys that are great.
For the biggest play of the game.
So our screens here tonight third and goal at the two so they'll go they give this to a Reggie slips and falls gets close to the end zone but not in have to get that.
Number it was a huge hit little surprise here that they don't give it to Drake on third and goal.
That'll bring up third and goal fourth and goal at the two I think it's only half yards and a half yard line.
It is no field goal to turn it onto the field either first and goal and Drake is in and the give is 217 Drake stop.
He did not get it.
He doesn't get in the key trying to break down.
That's big time right there.
I think you've got a guy running the football it's big combo C.J Cody was there and Victor Hall was also there.
I'm going to tell you a little bit about strategy.
They got out of the center and fumbled ball.
Then they got back from under center and third and two, they snap the ball to the tailback and look how much penetration they did.
You've got to get the ball under center in those critical downs that close to the goal line.
So McEachern will.
Take over first in.
Ten deep in their whole right now Drake happy and Drake was not happy.
And you see the.
Contrast and sidelines c.j Cody a happy man KENYON Drake disappointed and disgusted want.
To give some kudos to the guy that made the initial hit?
Came in low on KENYON Drake and that was Johannes Mathias.
He came in real low and stopped him and Cody was able to come in and clean that up.
That's the kind of play that gives the team a boost.
Let's see if it does.
Go straight ahead on the dove played for.
Navy Yard, maybe a yard.
If that.
I just just I just really would like to see people get down the center when they get inside the five yard line, because the defense has the mentality to know, to penetrate.
And when the ball's snapped off the line, it just takes a little while to get there.
With Mike shutting a gain of one yard and.
The give again, it looks like to Sherman the second back, but he has stopped down there for for Hillgrove, Dakari, Grimsby.
And he should be pounding his chest.
What a great play.
The loss of one Trey.
He came in from the left side, that defensive line, and squared up Mike Sherman and took him straight.
And 11.
At the one.
They throw it out of the end zone pass is incomplete but we're going to get a flag and we're going to get a possible guy that's Trevon Simmons that they're the junior he's been in on a lot of plays tonight.
Coach Mel mainly.
Guarding Trey Fletcher but then he sticks his hand out it it was close.
If it's a pass interference you can see the like 50 yard penalty automatic first down close.
He got his hand on it.
You can see his right hand on his back if you can see it right there in his left hand up inside his arm, 94.
Hey, great pressure again.
Yes, he did.
Right pressure.
I like I always like when you're on the goal line to throw that ball on second down and third down.
And the pie.
And but there was oh you can't argue with the.
Pass interference and the beneficiary.
Victor Brennan will give McEachern some breathing room now for the first and ten at their own 15.
That was a close one coach it sure was a close.
Trey, you being a defensive player, though, I'm sure you sided with a defensive guard.
Exactly.
All right.
Thompson in the flat.
That's the Brandon so how to get yardage escapes one tackler one he'll be a whole hog just to bring him and push him back.
Relentlessness trying to turn a negative into a positive.
They weren't able to score.
But if they can get the ball back here and not give up another first down, they'll have decent field position.
That's the middle linebacker Dylan Mitchell, who came in there with about three other hawks and made a.
Great solid over there too.
You can see this is great he does a great job to get away from the first defender from from a hillgrove but boy here comes about it seemed like 25 of.
Them got help Dobson rolls on the left side.
Getting over the ten up to the 15, 20, 20, 22 yard line and his fourth down.
And again.
There goes that man again.
And he wears number five.
Yeah.
And he was on backside trail at about seven yards behind the play until Trent Thompson cut to his right and he was able to catch up.
But Justin Haney was really the one that made that play.
And we've got an injured hawk on the field because of that.
Thompson showed some real toughness there.
I thought he was just going to angle out of bounds, guys, but he made a cut and try to pick up the first down.
That's pretty tough.
It is this.
See third down and 12 yards to go, 211 to go the ball on the 22 and injured player on the field for Hillgrove right now with the score Hillgrove seven the gator in three lakes third we'll be right back after these very important messages Glebe three that's Ricard for the Badger join us on the GPP Sports Central Chat.

That's GPB talks football Trey McDaniel we his dad on this.
Yeah that was number 23 the sophomore record Dre Bagley he's been all over the place tonight as he plays free safety.
He's also a kick returner and he's also Kelvin Cameron's backup in the backfield for Hillgrove.
He was real slow getting up, he was under a lot of pain, but he did come off under his own power.
It looks like he's struggling with some cramps in his calves.
And we'll try to get John Nelson down there to get a medical update on the coverage way back.
Know Silas threatened in blitz.
Seven three you see the time of year clock third and fourth 22 for the McEachern Indians they trail by four.
They give it to the killers.
Dillon is throwing 25 throws to the 25 yard line about it.
The 24.
Keep your eye on the clock.
This is the amount of time as we close down, as we get ready to close out to the third quarter.
That's fourth and fourth at 20.
Jelani Wells might be the fastest player on offense and he has been unable to hit the corner tonight.
I'm very impressed with the speed of the hawk defense.
I know they're going to try to throw him offsides again.
It gives a.
Go for Sherman.
And he's going to get it.
He's got that right foot spot going again.
Coach He got it.
It is fourth down.
They own their own 25 yard line, fourth and one a little over one, and they went for four.
Our radio listeners on 792 zone and WQXR.
You're watching GPS be the home of high school sports in the great state of Georgia.
And tonight, you can also tune in on our Web game, Norcross in North Gwinnett on GPB talk.
That was really wrong tonight.
It was a gamble, huge gamble by Hochman to go for.
It their first in ten at the 27 minute five the third.
Thompson rolling out McEachern Indians.
Trailing by four.
He goes for the home run.
They try to jump on the dragons.
All the play and down there good funding for that.
Simmons again for.
Hillgrove was Treyvon Simmons and we have a possible pass interference.
Affair.
It's going to be it's like if he could have got some air to the ball, he kind of floated it a little bit because it was behind him.
Well, planted defensive pass interference, 15 yards, previous spot, automatic first thing I think three.
I think three made a good play.
Well, placid ajoku comes free here and Thompson does a great job stepping up this ball had a lot of air under it, and that's what happens when you don't play the ball.
Simmons just puts his facemask into his chest, and that was obvious and say it was.
But he saved it.
He saved his team a bunch of young.
Yes, he did.
And then the pros in college, it would have been marked right there on the spot.
On the spot.
Court in high school.
It's only a 15 yard penalty.
A 15 yard penalty will set up first and ten for McEachern at their own, 42 under a minute to go.
So it's been a busy week.
Trailed by four, Thompson under pressure rolls looks and receivers.
Under Tyler at the 3030 530 6:00 It gets to Hillgrove territory even more about at the 29 touchdown saving.
Tackle there by junior to Orlando Cleveland and a phenomenal throw to at a time when he was wide open what the guy would say ten yards of it.
A 29 yard pass reception sets up another down.
He breaks the pocket and then as he starts as Thompson starts toward the line of scrimmage, he sees at a town just wide open on the sideline.
First and ten for McEachern at the Hillgrove 30 yard line and a timeout.
This is the most sustained drive we've seen so far tonight for McEachern.
Remember, this started all the way back at the other end of the field.
That's likely the reason why Hillgrove taking a time out, not only to get a refresher on the scheme and their strategy, but also just to give him a little bit of a break.
And you're right, this started deep in territory.
They own the two yard line, right?
Exactly.
Now, McEachern took it down, if you remember earlier, got it down to the 25 yard line or someone threw that interception at the five.
So what they've got to do is not make a mistake here.
And let's also go back, Coach, and remember, they rushed to the line of scrimmage, so we didn't have much time to set it up at that fourth down play that they went for deep in their own territory.
Also kept this drive a lot of it in so it.
All right.
Let's go downstairs to John Nelson talking about the coaches and also, John, can you give us an on the injured Hillgrove player what you have to.
The injury update on Ricardo Bagley simply cramps but it's in both camps you guys know how painful that can be.
We talked earlier on the relationship where Ironside was talking about Kyle Hockman.
Hockman on the flip side with coach Ironside, he says they're much more friends, the most McEachern and Hillgrove folks since they worked together for three years.
And what Hockman learned from Ironside is what you learn from everybody, how he puts things together as a program and he has a really good feel for kids.
So as Coach Hunter knows, it's all about sharing in the industry and things.
Like that that stops it.
And he gets over the 25, I mean, and pass the 30 that close to 25, about to the 27.
Year span I was really in.
I was really impressed.
You know, you do share and you do find things that you do.
You know, I've worked with a lot of different people and learned and try to learn from everybody you work with, whether you're the head coach or working with an assistant you don't want.
Yes, ma'am.
Will people question what you do and solidify what you do?
But I was impressed with now, oh, he's going the other way.
That's Haynie again, guys.
He's already had he's the guy that strip Fletcher as he was coming across the field for that third turnover just took the ball away from he had he had it in his sights Luckily for Thompson the throw was inaccurate and low, otherwise that would have been a touchdown.
The other way was intended for head to toe.
I'm by the towel, but You saw the defender right there jumping the route move and almost taking it to the house.
I'm sorry.
I got scared when I saw that guy.
He had clear sailing in the end.
So you're absolutely right.
Justin Haynie There should be a teacher over the 25 down to about the 22.
It's fourth down and four now.
And that'll bring up a fourth and four.
And I don't wrap up the end of the third quarter with the score.
Hillgrove seven McEachern three.
We tell you each week, hold up four fingers.
We're about ready to start the fourth.
We got a great game here tonight in Powder Springs.
Hillgrove seven McEachern.
Three lot of stuff going on.
Great fourth quarter straight ahead.
We'll be right back on the great GPB started the fourth down stairs to John Nelson Nellie.
Thank you GTA.
You'll notice on some of the McEachern players that there is a patch with the number five on it.
And that is in remembrance of Ray John Bennett, a star here at McEachern who was killed two years ago before.
He was heading to Vanderbilt for his college scholarship star player here.
The family still an integral part of the family.
There's his mom up there at the 50 line and his younger brother, Desi, who still attends school here at McEachern along with the younger sister.
So you talk about the Bennetts.
The Bennetts are never far from the minds and the hearts of everyone here at Cantrell Stadium.
Guys, a great story, a great family and how both are intertwined back upstairs.
Wonderful story.
Just a horrific, horrific story.
And all that.
He was a tremendous player, but Coach Dorsey says he was a much better person.
He was had a chance to meet him.
He was honored by the Touchdown Club in the back of the week a couple of years ago.
I don't want to talk over the field goal here, but one of the best young men I've ever met.
St Germain on for a field goal is up but it looks short and it is short attempt to 46 yards.
So Hillgrove will take 1610 right.
Very uncharacteristic will look like and I'm no kicking expert but he looked like he got under the ball a little bit, had a lot of spin on it and it was a little bit wide to the right as well we watched him warm up for about a half hour, some of these guys looked like they got here a little early to watch him warm up because he's such an impressive kid.
Not the best snap in the world, but still he got it.
Got the snap down kind of kind of you kind of hit underneath it, folks.
You got to hit it a little bit.
He hit it a little bit.
You want to see Kurt shouting at the booth?
That's classic.
I was willing that he was willing that kick but it just it did look like Carlton's best trying to will the ball.
Fair.
That's Ironside rolling out the first and ten the pass is thrown and it's incomplete The intended receiver over there for Hillgrove was number Jordan Marshall he effort not £175.
Senior he hit that he hit that field goal a little bit fat kind of like some of my golf shots.
I tell you what.
It was priceless.
For Ivy we were watching you rare I wish we had I wish we had.
A camera looking at you.
You wanted that to go?
Oh, way.
I was wiggling for it hard.
I'm not pulling it for the team, that's all I know.
But I want to say it basically.
Coach, it outright kills you though.
A drive that starts out on the two yard line.
You drive it all the way down.
You get no points out of it.
It comes to screen again.
The intended receiver was the rookie and it's incomplete.
That'll bring up a second.
That will bring up a third intended to 23 hole provider inside right now it's numbers nine of 14 103 yards and a touchdown, of course.
Getting that touchdown.
Antoine Jones is on top of that screen there.
You see Ironside coach his son.
He said he's kind of a calming presence.
Their starting quarterback to start the year suffer for a broken wrist but they're going to go ahead and let Ironside stay in the game.
They said he's handled the pressure very well.
That's probably the furthest he's throwing the ball down the field tonight.
On that previous play.
I think he's played well, but we have seen a lot of wildcat.
Oh, oh, that's a foul.
That's a fumble.
It's a tumble.
Football, that's a touchdown.
And concussion is a touchdown touchdown.
They call it break call touchdown.
With that is the claim.
Yes.
Lewis, who had the presence of mind to kick that ball off Inglis batted it deflected it and it despite the it and lost took it in six runs for the touchdown Great call a blunder Well he threw the ball backwards again they did that earlier you remember he threw that ball backwards and they stomped on it.
And what was the key to it?
You can see what happens inside those this player pass.
And it's definitely backwards.
It's batted down my guess.
Who?
Every one stop.
Yes.
He missed bass.
It never stopped and then it's picked up.
I didn't see that.
He's doing well.
He isn't, Lewis.
And he picked it up.
It May slow.
This guy on the field.
At that time he heard Coach yell and that it was a live ball and he picked.
It up and that's it.
That's good.
And that is good bye.
Say, Jimmy play so totally.
His game is Holy Dame first turnover of the game by Hillgrove.
They've got three.
They haven't capitalized on him.
McEachern gets one and they turn it into a touchdown.
Wow.
It's a new ballgame now.
What previous?
The previous says I had my day made by the three can tell you pick it up baby as Lewis picks this fumble up after it's knocked down by Mr. everything there's various English gets the ball down and that's ball is alive he's already celebrate the coach the official Bobby Preston those has been back down to signal the fumble and then the craziest picks it up and runs it in the no end zone and says make my day in the field.
Judge on the left side ran with Lewis to the end zone, which gave us an early.
Indication that that was going to be called a touchdown.
Yeah, they did not.
They let the play continue, continue to develop and evolve.
When that big bag goes down.
It's a phony, you know, it's a fumble.
McEachern has not.
Looked very sharp in this football game.
They've played a lot better on defense and they have on the.
Offensive side of the ball that play being a great indicator of that.
But now they've just turned the tides of this football game.
They're up there, crowds back in in the crowd that's been on their feet all night across the field.
They're all sitting down there.
We're going to find out something about the Hillgrove hearts right now.
This is the first.
Scuse me.
Excuse me, Gil.
This is the first adversity they've had.
We'll see if they can respond.
All right.
Let's see.
Regular say Germain.
Will kick off among those deep get this out of the endzone.
It was good.
That's good.
He missed the 40 yarder, but he just put that one through the other 70 yards and a big deal that that.
Long drive that they just went on before and they were unable to convert on the field goal that somehow some way they got into the endzone and scored a touchdown.
Who would have thought that we'd be 11 minutes and 35 seconds before the end of this football game and McEachern just scored their first touchdown and they did it on defense.
What if both of these teams.
Had firepower in and features?
Wide receivers overall takes over first and ten at their own 20.
That's a give 17 Drake over 50 He may go 4030 pulls up looks like a hamstring but he continues to go down to about the 20 yard line to the 18 and he responded to the block.
He pulled up a little lane.
So some fringe 60 yards.
The trip I think he was slow enough to try to cut inside of Cameron and let Gamble kind of take his momentum and run past him.
But Gamble did.
A good job, number one.
He took a great angle.
Number two, he was able to finally bring him down.
I've been a.
Little curious now for about a quarter and a half why Drake has not been a more focal point in the offense.
And now he is.
He's off to the sideline now because he's catching his breath.
But you just saw great burst and great streak 17 carries for 164 so far tonight.
165 charged in one yard.
You go.
The excellent job done tonight by a statistician.
A-plus.
Plus four Kevin Bonds here tonight.
We'll look at that here.
Coach, I want you to take us through what he pulled up.
Well, can see he cuts back and then he gets a hold him.
And number 22 here from the McEachern defense Cameron Gamble but he chased him down as Trey said it had the angle on him and he just hung on the speed of the McEachern secondary though saved him a touchdown.
And that he seemed to be working.
Oh, no, no, no.
Like I said, he pulled up and looked like.
They was it's been it's been cool this week, but tonight there's a little bit of humidity, a little bit of mcginnis in the air.
So you see some cramping.
The feels turf feels makes it warmer.
Yes.
Get those electrolytes at home.
That's right.
Coach, I want to wish you happy travels.
Tomorrow you head up to Knoxville stomping grounds and let's take it to the Georgia.
Bulldogs, the Tennessee Valley, those mountains.
I hope some of those leaves and things, you know, I'm going to go to somebody to do it.
Apparently, they will.
They won't know what is going to be going up.
They were going up seven, five, and now I'm going I'm going over down.
I'm going to go 41.
Yeah.
That's outside.
Look.
And that's really, really this man over there and his head and receiver was everything he says is incomplete.
There's a flag on the play, but Ingram seems to be his go to guy in the passing game, even though the touchdown that they scored was to Kelvin Cameron.
They had him in the middle of the field, but it was just a just a high throw and as what receiver.
Down there that hurts.
Yeah that's.
And you see Ironside I've thought there's been a couple of questionable calls.
Most of them I think have been legit, but I don't think he agrees with that.
I think he thinks most of these calls have been questionable and he alluded to that as he went to the locker room a half.
When they when they lined up, though, they win the trip for Mason and this is the guy on the outside was on the line and he covered up the pad in what they call up.
He was the outside man.
He should have been off the line.
So when he gets over the line, it makes the pad in and out because then the tight end is not the end.
Man on one.
You see the clock on the top of your screen, 1112 to our radio viewers on radio listeners on 792.
So our viewers, you see the clock up.
Top 11, 12, second and 15 at the 24 year old Navy SEAL by three to give a straight ahead to ready he gets over the 25 yard line first to the 20 and in all the tackle down.
There for me, Dietrich was a star.
Wilson here comes KENYON Drake.
Back in the game.
Yes, he is.
And this is it.
This is his time of the game, guys.
This is the fourth quarter.
Of course, Coach Ironside wishes in this circumstance that he had a lead so he can salt away clock and keep the football in his hands.
Now, his primary objective is he's got to put some points on the board.
In his kickers.
His kicking game has been a little bit of an adventure this year, second and fourth 14 at the 23 will go.
The man in motion.
Teaches all.
Sides the drifting the flags.
Drake went in motion in a drew English offsides.
They're going to get the yards that they just lost on the penalty.
Previous to that, they're going to get that red ball encroachment on the defense.
Five yard penalty field, first down, nine yard coach honor.
You can this in high school remember when they when they crossed the line rule that's unique to husky once you cross the line it's there and a good probably a good rule because then it's a safety you know.
That'll bring up a second and eight or should say.
First and first and ten for juju in the flat screen receiver, the score was determined pretty close to the ten, about down to the 12 well-executed play.
But when we see the replay I want you guys to watch Darius English again.
He comes right up the field like he did when he tipped that pass before and allowed his teammate to score the touchdown.
Watch him come free here.
Almost gets an arm on it that time too.
But fortunately for them, Cameron was able to come down and he's already scored.
A touchdown on a pass earlier tonight.
But now it's 30, 35 of the 14 sniffing around the red side is seventh here.
Let's break down to the ten.
He got a yard short.
He's short.
Probably.
Maybe a little more for an extra spot.
Excellent pursuit by the McEachern defense, but boy, he was on the edge.
He can run.
That's what I've been most impressed about in this football game, gentlemen, is the speed for both defenses.
It's been outstanding.
The Cleveland Indians, 214 timeouts remaining for Hillgrove.
Going to keep.
For the future.
They bring it in the field.
Goal two for.
McEachern and two for Hillgrove, and they're going to kick that is Austin Travis.
Is that's how they're lining up for the title and one is the kind.
Of game field goal possibly but I think it would be right.
Seventh, the boot is up and it looks good and this is good from 28 yards.
And that ties a football game, folks.
And fasten your seat belt now.
No way to go in the fourth.
We're tied here in.
Powder Springs, Hillgrove, McEachern.
We'll be right back after this.

That scoring drive Gil six plays 62 yards for the Hillgrove Hawks.
It took 2 minutes and 27 seconds off the clock.
It was capped by a 28 yard field goal by Austin Travers, who had only to field goals thus far in the year.
But that one was the biggest one so far as it tied up the football game.
It's crunch time, boys.
No question about it.
Trevor will kick off deep for McEachern Fletcher.
He really kicked that ball.
Well and Jackson and McEachern will take over first and ten at their own 2907 to go here in the final quarter.
Both these teams knotted up at 1010.
He kicked it ball halfway in the end zone and his other kick off was on the ten yard line this time.
So he got a rocket in his leg right there, folks.
We got a great game.
We just don't have the numbers we had last year, but we got every bit of the drama.
No, real we don't.
The team seemed to have calmed down a little bit.
Emotions got the best of them there for a period in the first quarter and now you're just good.
Smash mouth football between bitter rivals.
This is what it's all about.
Number one.
McEachern against number nine Hill grew.
Ten all he was headed back to it and the box snapped the.
Ball loose there but recovered by McEachern coach coach talked about that all night long the exchange.
Coach really really critical of the centers.
You could see the center snapped the ball and the quarterbacks not really paying attention.
Well he's he's checking the play seem to be putting the guy in motion they put a guy in motion with hit with a hand signal.
Some people use a foot some people just put the guy it needs to know to go in motion.
Second and 11 at the 19 Thompson looking for his receiver has it but the pass is incomplete.
The intended receiver was Trey Fletcher up at the 40 yard line.
Shaquille Holman did a great job there or the best job he could do to try to pick up the blitz.
But it just got on to Thompson too quick.
I think if he would have had a second longer to step up in the pocket, he could have hit Fletcher.
We saw them warming up in pregame and running that that slant route that inside route and he was right on target.
Every time bring up third and 11 at the 19 from McEachern they're tied here at ten Grove.
Hawks big down for McEachern.
831 in the final period.
The pressure.
Steps up.
Rolls to the left, looks for a receiver, and it is intended over.
The air for Fletcher.
But it's incomplete.
Threw the ball.
It was over the line when he threw the pass.
Yeah.
He was trying to second guess himself.
There he was.
I knew he was going to be close, but they didn't waste any time throwing the flag out.
And guys, it's that guy again.
Richard Simmons provided the pressure play in chambers.
We can see him cross once he crosses the 20 yard line.
You see him cross the 20 here and tries to throw the excellent effort.
However, you'll see him decline this penalty.
Thompson 17 of 28, 214 yards.
The two interceptions his numbers here tonight take another look.
And so you take us through.
You can see him skate here again to his left, steps up in the pocket, skates to his left and into crosses in 20 days, well, across the line of scrimmage.
In the plug for McEachern at his own nine will be Tyler Smith back to receive our Drake on one side and Cameron on the other.
Both are standing approximately at the 45, so it looks like Hillgrove will probably get a short field and take the puck, takes a hill, goes bounce and will die there right at the Hillgrove 47 yard line, a net punt of 34.
Yards excellent field position for Hillgrove on exchange.
Of post we talked about.
That's right they their defense did an excellent job of stopping McEachern.
Of course McEachern got the bad snap on first down and then went for the long throw in second down.
759 to go in this football game with the game right now that has overtime written all over it first and ten for Hillgrove at their own 47.
And Drake stays the game guys.
He's a lone back number 17 down side Ironside and that's the give it to the aforementioned KENYON Drake gets over midfield into McEachern territory about the 49 at a break up a second and about.
Nine tackle by the curious Lewis the biggest play of the game made by Lewis so far tonight the six yard fumble recovery for a touchdown from McEachern.
Believe it or not that's their only touchdown of the game.
I think that I think that Coach Onside would like to give them a steady dose.
Of kingdom break and when this caught and if they could do that right here get it down inside a few minutes try to get try to get a score.
The game is three.
Second and seven to give us 217.
He pulls his way and that's Drake again, the workhorse getting close to the 45.
Spot that was dished up by the offensive player that time, KENYON Drake lowering his shoulder and he's got his helmet off looking at something.
I'm not sure if he's coming off to get treatment again, but 20 carries for 174 yards.
He started the second half, guys with 54 yards rushing.
It's 120 yards and we're only halfway through the fourth quarter, third down and three.
Huge Ironside under center the snap to give his to Reggie he gets over the 45 yard line to.
About the 44.
Yard short Yeah coach they got to they got a decision to make but their defense is really played well.
So I agree with this part.
This ball.
Back deep, let them down.
They hold on one more time and then you get a chance at the end of the game to try to win it.
And Mr. Pinner gets a chance to put him back here.
You are a poet and you don't even know 40.
Don't know.
That would be you.
Good, but give.
But keep an eye, guys.
I know we haven't seen a lot of punt returning, but they've got Ed Quinn Fletcher back.
These guys can both take it to the house if they're given an opportunity.
You got to believe that punter is going to try to keep away from SNAP.
Oh, it's available to punt and that's going to be taking the kitchen left navigation and picked up by help route Hillgrove down to about the 29 yard line and it was the Hillgrove special teams performance right there and that was Dylan Mitchell.
Well, and that made that's Hillgrove football, folks.
Yes, it is.
And that was a lot football touched by McEachern Player.
That's exactly right.
Once the ball crosses the line, it's love.
He can see the punt go straight up in the air.
The McEachern kids should have gotten away from this football.
Never touch the football.
Now, he may have thought the guy up in front of him got hit, but he did.
He did.
And then as a Hillgrove player down on the field, too.
Here's what happens once that ball is touched?
Once the ball is touched by Hillgrove, it's calling him off and you cannot advance it.
That was tough.
I had a talent that right that football did.
Try to go number 51 can advance it it's there they had at that point it bounced it looked like it bounced off the back of the leg of Mitch Long, which is why he tried to jump there and receive the kick.
At first glance, it looked like he just tried to go up over top of the Hillgrove player and make a dumb play, but he was actually trying to bail his team out because it bounced off of the rear end and he did it.
Yes, he did hit him.
I could.
But anyway.
You look at it, Trey.
Absolutely.
It's still Hillgrove football.
Yes, it is.
We have an injured Hillgrove hawk on the field and that's number 48 for Hillgrove.
And he's getting up, thank goodness, Victor Sanchez, special teams and almost a junior five nine £185, say just on his own power.
That we just were talking about before the point how it was going to set up good feel bad field position for McEachern which was good for Hillgrove and they turned a terrible punt which was going to be a net of about four or five yards.
They turn a huge negative into a huge positive.
And now you're going to see the KENYON Drake.
I believe you're going to see a heavy force of 17.
Now, he's not in the game right now.
What does it look like on first down?
But keep in mind, Kyle Hockman and company have four timeouts in their pocket and.
Guys, it looks like they've got T.A.
Beckman.
The senior wide receiver looked like he was going to line up in the shotgun formation next to Ironside or at least be the back.
And he's generally a wide receiver.
What a ball game we have here tonight.
I mean, we are so happy that you could join us here.
GPP And also 792 Zone and WQXR, correct?
I'm corrected.
Carl Hochman That's the scoreboard coach.
He had four, but it's he's tried.
He's at four.
But Coach Hunter says he only has three.
So the scoreboard is wrong and they just corrected they just corrected it on cue.
Dobro, Rick Hillgrove does still have.
A let's we'll still we'll give you the math right now.
Coach Carl Hochman got it directly from Coach Dave on this three timeouts in his hip pocket.
Keep in mind I'll keep an eye on that and one timeout remaining for Hill Brooks.
Well, you got 550 to go here, guys.
And I think if they could get the ball to, the ten yard line, they feel pretty good about it.
But more importantly, I think they like to get it done.
And with that much time left.
For the ten for Hillgrove that they're.
At the Mets, they got five men in the backfield.
This is a penalty, but they shift out of the way.
Okay.
And Drake is in the gear, on the edge.
Turn around.
Everybody's looking for him and everybody's ready to corral.
And he gets into the 40, 35 yard line down to about the Indian 34.
And I don't know about you, but if I'm Coach Ironside and the offensive players here for Hillgrove, I want to stop running at Darius English.
I know that's sometimes a way to neutralize a player that's all over the field is to run right at it.
But it has not been successful tonight and it wasn't there on first down either.
Drake, 21, carries 175 yards.
That's outside in the flat.
Looks for a receiver there.
It has got him and he has a receiver that's close to the first down.
Another one of those three.
Beckham and that is over down to about over the 30 to about the 29.
And I'm going to say what I know Coach Hunter is thinking it's third down.
This is a critical down with that question.
You know, they didn't get anything on first down.
They wanted to run the ball the last series.
And I think they felt like they had to come with a spring game to get some yardage back.
32 You think you get a dogfight here, but.
KENYON Right on.
The right side of five to go.
Third and three at, they follow the ball.
There's the football and the Indians recover.
But teachers on the fourth through the end of the second wave, that was not KENYON Drake guys.
That was like reggae in the pocket.
He did not take a clean handoff.
He put it on the ground and McEachin recovers.
So it's been a comedy of errors here.
And as we close out the gate on it.
Azar Well, see, you can see you're right.
You're right.
Three.
You're exactly right.
Look at look it his follow he just that's he's out of that football so big time we could say just the quarterback and they just don't get a good match right they know this is a great effort by 52.
I mean, looks like neither one.
I want to get it right.
I'm not I'm not a I'm not a coach.
Criticize her at all.
But if KENYON is not injured, which he may be getting treatment for those cramps again, but if he's at all healthy, he's got to be on the field.
They're first and ten for McEachern courtesy the turnover their own 39 Thompson in the pocket steps up over the receiver and the ball is uncatchable down on the ground and the intended receiver over there was Parker.
It was Trey Fletcher who actually.
Came in Fletcher at the 45 yard line and it falls incomplete.
He comes in motion GILL And they faked the end around him.
And another long developing play as Thompson turns right, then he turns left.
He eventually steps up in the pocket and tries to find Fletcher sneaking down the sideline.
And it was.
It was not available.
Second and ten at the 39 for 31 to go on it's football oh same look to give the straight ahead to Sherman and it's snuffed out and a loss of a couple.
That's a great great play by the defensive player number 51.
Garrett Morgan.
Really a good play excuse me.
You see the play again?
They send that sweep motion across the field from Trey Fletcher, but this time they give it to Sherman and Dylan Mitchell.
Kelly makes the play.
How?
Yeah.
Hillgrove can stop him and get the ball back 13.
14 at the 35 Thompson rolling on the left side looking for a receiver that's out of bounds the intended receiver over there was Fletcher, and guess who's incomplete and.
Guess who's in the backfield trying to chase him down.
It's Grigsby again.
He's been all over the place.
He's been just as important for Hillgrove as English has been for McEachern.
Here they come on a sprint.
This is a kind of a strange call on 33rd and 12 because it cuts the field down in half, really a third.
Tyler Smith into punt for McEachern back to receive or Cameron and Drake for Hillgrove at their own.
30.
The next big play could determine the outcome of this game.
3 minutes and 50.
Three.
.82 up already did we did.
A ten all ballgame.
Oh, my.
Oh, my goodness.
Smith tries to chase it back and he kicks it out of the end zone.
And that'll be a safety.
Two points.
There's that big play I was talking about, and we'll see if it determines the outcome of the game.
But they throw a penalty flag.
I thought he had time to pick it up and maybe soccer style kick it.
It's a safety, but also.
Did get the ball back gets the ball back game set match possibly trailing they could be with.
348 to.
Go.
The officials are conferring at the middle of the field.
I think that excuse me, I think you'll see this.
The penalty on the play is illegal.
Kicking the ball through the end zone.
That penalty decline result from the safety.
Well, this is a look at this is what.
Your team playing you and Trey take us through.
Well, you know, the kicker is he's not doesn't want to give them the ball right there.
So that's a pretty good play by the kicker.
Kick it out the end zone.
The problem is they've got to get the ball back and they're down two.
And so, I mean, you know, the fourth quarter has been turnover, error, you name it.
Top ranked.
MacEachern So, you know, it's good, but out of ten, if you're to try to pick that ball up, punt it and not punish it, they got the ball on the five yard line to score a touchdown either way.
So I guess they want to give up two instead of six and they may still have to try to prevent them from getting six as well because they can't win unless they get the football back.
That is in 17.
And Trey brought this out at 17.
Has any gas left in the gas tank, anything left?
You get a heavy dose of him.
That's what I do.
I mean, if he can walk.
If he's not crutches, he's in the football game and I'm giving him the football constantly.
You see the mood at McEachern right now?
Not not good.
The expressions, the facial expressions tell the story right now.
Let me take reel 12 to.
Take you guys back to what I was talking about at the top of the broadcast, Hillgrove stood to gain a lot more by a win and lose a lot more with a loss.
McEachern came in with a very businesslike attitude.
Hillgrove came in riding high on emotion.
I said this game could put them on the map it really can, guys.
There are people around the state that don't even know where Hillgrove is located.
They know nothing about them.
Even though they beat Camden in the playoffs last year, this could bring them some notoriety.
This is their bitter rival.
And oh, by the way, the number one football team in the state of Georgia.
Big deal.
Just a few minutes ago, you saw the shots of the many who come over to made the three and a half mile trip.
The Hill Girls Nation celebrating right now early.
They have a two point lead over the top ranked mceachern indians 12 to 10 348 to go.
Dale Tyree, coach Dave Hunter and Trey McDaniel joining us joining you on this Friday Night Football Fridays in primetime on the great GPB.
A lot of room that is Drake taking it he's at the 4045 gets outside and.
English brings him down at about the 44 yard line, a 28 yard 28 return and Hillgrove will take over first and.
Ten at their old 45 yard line.
Somehow those two guys keep going, mano a mano, English and Drake.
A lot of bad blood between those guys.
Good he good that good hard tackle yeah you're going to see one of them is going to be running the ball for Bama the other one's going to be playing defensive end for South Carolina.
So we say if we if they honor.
Their if they honor their commitments, that's a great that's a great point.
At least right now we can all anticipate that and some future SCC.
Match ups first and ten for well.
Yeah we don't say three four.
In the Drake is not in the game Oh Reggie is he is too tight in.
The spread play Reggie.
Turns the corner gets over.
The 45 to about the 47 and push back that's the play they fumbled on a few minutes.
Ago Great tackle there by Mitch Long the inside linebacker if you can get a reasonable stop here, you'll see a time out for this play, I believe.
And so they put Drake in on the kickoff and he returned it 28 yards, but he's back on the sideline.
He's got to still be struggling with, those cramps.
Otherwise, it's inexplicable to have him off the field.
I'm sure that's what it is.
He just joined us.
Tyler Smith, the punter from the gantry, kicked the ball out of the end zone that produced the safety for Hillgrove, giving them the 12 to 10 lead right now under three to go.
Still got those three timeouts to does the teacher.
High inside and a give this to a ready straight ahead and the push and that's over midfield into McEachern territory about at the 47 yard line.
Really running down hill here comes great third down and two you think you get the ball here get now remember the last third down and two he was on the sideline in that the fumble by verhaeghe so now they're not going to make that mistake again he's in the game I when they were on the goal line they tried to go up inside and not outside at short yardage situation.
I'm really interested to see if they're going to try the middle of the field, if they're going to try to use his speed on the corner, keeping in mind that he's struggling with some cramping Hillgrove with the football 32 at the McEachin 49.
They lead by two closing in on the two minute mark.
At 17/3 in the quarter.
He has a first down and just five for you.
And he was pushed out of bounds over there.
Look like the yard marker would give him a first down their formation.
That first down yardage.
Gilder formation showed you what they were going to do because they lined up four linemen on the left side and it was very off balance line.
Only two guys on the right, four guys on the left.
They wanted to get numbers out there so they could get Drake on the sideline.
You see the faces of the meet, the teacher and Indians.
They know what time it is.
It's getting late.
And they drill, but they've got to get a stop right here in the game, boy, they've got to get a stop and get a ten out of eight.
And let's remind everybody that's watching.
It may have joined us late that only points have been accounted for by the McEachern offense.
The only touchdown a defensive.
To give a straight ahead to 17 and he is very very close the 40 yard line.
He had.
It all night you know last year they put up a lot but this year low scoring but still the same trouble early.
On.
Yeah, still close, but for a different reason.
But low numbers this year it's like 90, 90.
Points less 90 so far.
Yeah.
Yeah, he did last year and it's been mostly because of the fault of each team shooting themselves in the foot.
And what you see is or penalties or whatever, you see a lot of that in a big rivalry game where emotions run high.
Then a ton of mistakes in this football game.
Two interceptions by Hillgrove in a fumble recovery one fumble recovery for a touchdown from McEachern Special gaffes if determine this game even the punch that these two teams have been able to get off they've been low the snaps have been.
Coach I want to ask you this.
You take a look, should hill growth prevail?
Let's take a look of what the hawks have in front of them.
So, yeah, their schedule, they got North Cobb who's who's undefeated in the region.
They're tough next week and it'll be a tough game for them.
And they should be heavily against Pebble Brook, Kennesaw Mountain and Campbell.
So if they can win this one, if they can hold on here.
And get that game worked out, they could get undefeated season.
For the first time in history, the school great has carried the ball 23 times for 177 yards and.
Is fixing appeared to collapse.
In the second at five at the foot of the teacher.
And he'll go, Oh, there's English, all things English, nothing against foreign stars.
They could beat.
And another costly turnover for Hillgrove and McEachern has the football.
Oh, my gosh.
That is.
Oh, my gosh.
I'm Going to be sick.
That's a heart attack.
Make it right there.
If you're a coach, an eight yard return.
Drake cannot believe what just happened.
Once we knew he was getting it.
Let's this.
This comes off to sign.
He gets the ball and he just slips out and picks it up.
He did great.
Pretty nice.
And Ironside could be a different game for them.
One of the big and laid back.
Oh, oh, please.
Well, he's never healthy level.
He's in good hands.
We all know what to do.
There's always.
Oh, there's a sack.
Yes, that's Dakari Griggs.
Guess you guys, the seniors, six foot, £200.
He says the Eagles.
Whatever you can do, I can do better.
Unbelievable.
Drops back look at and thought he had a decent pocket Grigsby has harassed.
Thompson all night long He got it get the running back 28 on top of hill.
And that's missing physical placement.
What does this school for.
Saint Germain know you got to keep an eye on him and he's like, he's not close yet.
Oh, that's the field goal kickers from the get free and the pass and take it over there for Delaney.
Wells and it's incomplete.
At the 45 yard line it was a little behind him, guys.
But if this is crunch time, you've got to make that catch.
The pressure coming, though, they got tremendous pressure up inside.
They did not pick up the blitz.
Take a look at the replay again.
Coach Hunter narrated, You see that the blitz comes up inside and he comes clean up inside.
Who?
That ball behind his shoulder.
But they catch the guys.
They'd like to get to the 35 yard line for a 52 yard field goal.
That's going to mean they're going to need to get within one yard of the first down and they've got two plays to do it.
You just heard it from the astute Trey McDaniel, third and 19 at the 48 a minute, ten.
From the gates in to work with.
Thompson rolling out looking for his receiver and out of the tower and it's incomplete and he's out of bounds at a time has made two.
Catches on this sideline tonight and been able to his foot right down and wasn't able and it wasn't his fault the ball was a little bit as Thompson was on the road run ball sailed out of bounds.
Replay.
Play action pass.
And they don't fool anybody with the play action he's clearly out of bounds.
A minute.
Three to go 12 to 10.
Hill goes the ballgame out in front of McEachern Holton 18 critical Trey McDaniel Says.
Possible big play for the ballgame.
You're joining us here on GPB.
An electric night here at Powder Springs.
Thompson in the pocket runs into his own man under pressure and tries to get rid of it and is brought down.
But it's incomplete.
And Hill Grove will take over.
They will take over with an opportunity.
Pull the upset tonight.
Look at the hill from the sidelines.
Look at their fans.
Holy cow.
The goodness gracious.
What a great defensive effort for the opening whistle.
Until now, by.
Number of hawks, we've got a penalty, I think, on the McEachern sideline.
The Hill Grove Hawks on the verge.
Of upsetting the number one team in five eight here in the great state of Georgia.
That McEachern Indians three and a half miles separate these schools.
And what a win it would be for Phillip Ironside and his for all.
Of those people over there.
So excited.
It's exciting.
I feel for McEachern, but they've had plenty of chances to win the football game.
Now, guys, the operative word you just used is would be we have seen some bizarre here.
It's until this final whistle blows.
I'm not going to chalk anything up as a given yet.
If there's a fumble here, I think you might be going have to carry your rocky tough, you know, scanning around for a defibrillator up here, you know, out there side of the mouth.
I'll tell to do it.
I told you, if Hillgrove won this game, they going to have a hootenanny out there on the field.
And I believe it's coming, boss.
Right?
Yeah.
I'm not bowing out of the mouth that I love you, Coach but I'm not doing mouth to mouth.
That's really our, I think.
Does it?
Sorry, not our great statistician, Kevin Barnes reminds us you remember the old Joe Pacers in Flint Herman Edwards took it and has that a every day to trade.
That does but I know he.
Never did coach.
It I don't hand it off that's the name of the ball headed off hold on to it that we've haven't bards we've had you know we've had a goal line stand is hard you know we've had we've had we've had a we've had a safety we've had a punch snapped over the head.
We've had a fumble, two fumbles this hand.
We've had had.
Something.
Everything.
Yeah, we you know, we've and and then two fumbles two fumbles when they should have been running the game at the Hillgrove and the quarterback falls flat.
So to make sure nobody steals it from a positive.
Side, well then stay on.
Stay on.
It.
McEachern can't stop the clock.
And there you go, Trey.
You're right.
They could not stop the clock and let the celebration begin here and Powder Springs here tonight.
You see Johnny Hillgrove Hawks and what a big win.
And coach, we took a look at their body of work as they head of here.
Yeah, they got a terrible they got a chance.
I really do.
But I'm going to tell you something now.
McEachern probably going to be the two seed in this region and they still got a good football team.
They just made.
Oh, I made a mistake.
Seconds for.
Let's see the clock ticking down.
Look at the hill.
Go see this with the words Hillgrove Hawks 12 to 10 over may better protect the goalpost.
Now, big win for coach Ironside.
Philip Ironside.
His coaching staff and the players and the parents and the student.
Body who came here at the beginning of probably about 4:00, they were here, the Hillgrove Mason was arriving.
We just saw 48 minutes of football, gentlemen, that tells you what high school football is all about in the state of Georgia.
You just saw John Nelson in the crowd, the the traditional handshake between these two great schools.
I want to thank again the administrators and of both of these schools for giving us access.
The fans.
Were great.
And the hospitality here, the people at McEachern were unbelievable.
Thank Coach Dorsey and Regina montgomery have been great.
They were wonderful hosting hostesses.
All right.
Downstairs to John Nelson and coach Ironside.
Now it is all yours.
What a ball game 1210 Hillgrove and upset over rank McEachern.
Gil, you're out of breath I'm sure this guy is somewhat too.
Last year you said in losing when a game had 118 points, it was the most exhausted you've ever been.
How about tonight when you knock off the top ranked team by two and a close friend?
Probably not.
It's exhausting for me because we pine and did some things about our defensive coaches.
They should be very proud.
Gave up no points to another fantastic offense.
Oh, you know, we scored the only points for them on a stupid play.
It's my fault.
But those guys did an outstanding job.
I thought our kids played great, just great atmosphere.
I mean, it's awesome.
And we talked about signature wins last year.
Obviously with the playoff run, there are some signature wins.
You put this on the mantel just as high.
It's a big one.
That's a big deal.
So now with a win over your region, rivals win over a close friend.
You talk this program now couldn't think of a better way to get noticed by knocking them off with a great defensive stand at the end when you needed to get things done, you got things done offensively and defensively.
That's it's good.
And you got to handle this to get the next week or still things to do.
You can't let this game get us next week and no signs of just stick them down for our kids.
That's a huge win for us.
Thanks for your time, Coach Ironside.
Congratulations.
We will have kids in a minute.
Let's send it over to Mark Harmon.
Best seat in the house it away, Mark.
John, thanks so much.
What a game here at Cantrell Stadium on the campus of McEachern High School, the top ranked McEachern Indians upset by the Hawks of Hillgrove 12 to 10 in a game that went right down to the closing seconds.
Let's check out the highlights for tonight's game as our postgame show kicks off.
It's 12 to 10.
Your final score here.
And here are the stats.
Looking at a tower, no score.
Fred Thompson finds Trey Fletcher, who streaks down the sideline, picks up 69 yards.
And this would set up the first score of the game as Nicolas St-Germain hits a 49 yard field goal to put McEachern up three to nothing late first half it is Elijah Ironside, 25 yards to Kelvin Cameron right in your living room, seven three Hillgrove at the half in the third quarter a big goal line Stand by McEachern stops KENYON Drake the score remains seven three as we head to the fourth quarter then big play a fumble it was picked up taken into the rack by Declan Lewis and McEachern had a 10 to 7 lead.
But there you see the safety with the score tied.
Ten, ten.
It's a kick out of the end zone by McEachern that allows the last two points and Hillgrove wins this game 12 to 10.
Your final score Hillgrove goes now to a perfect six No number one ranked MacEachern drops to five and one.
Let's send it now to Jon Nelson with some stars of the game.
John.
Thank you, Mark.
Here with KENYON and John Styles.
John's used to going up against this guy in practice.
We've talked about it in the wake.
What's it like trying to stop this guy in practice even though it didn't happen a lot tonight?
It's really hard, but he's just got to keep working, keep focused.
You know?
You can never give up.
You always got to give 110%.
Talk about Win Tonight and what it means for the program.
It was a great win, big win for the community.
Because it's like been divided ever since he opened.
Up has announced it's only 70.
But we got to just a with John Challis.
Sets up a.
Throw threw that interception for me.
Oh I just I took my job, I found it out too and the ball was right there.
I just put my hands up and went in.
All right, don't go anywhere.
All right.
We're going to show the interception one more time, but can you stop to talk about the defensive effort?
What was going on tonight for these guys defense?
Do what a heck of a job.
I mean.
You can't ask.
For nothing more than what the.
Defense performed better today.
You just got to give them.
All the credit.
You know, we kept putting them in a bind, especially me.
I mean, in that last fumble, I was just praying.
I was like, please stop them to lose.
I swear, I. I thought I was will get a game away like or three times.
But I mean, all my teammates out there, man, we this is a team right here.
I know.
This is this is how we win is our team where we just did it for the community.
Baby.
I was going to say you talked about it when were there one more time you kind of this rivalry makes you a little sick to your stomach sometimes, but what's it like to come in here and knock out number one?
This is the.
Sweetest thing I've felt in a long time.
I mean, coming in this.
Hostile environment, in this type of.
Environment.
I mean, look at the look.
At the stars, man.
The stars of Pakistan's impact over there.
I mean, this is just one of the best villains I've ever had.
No doubt about it.
Canyon John, thanks for your time.
Go celebrate with your fans.
Let's send it back over to the best seat in the house for the rest of the show.
I'll be over there in a second.
Thank you, John, very much.
Over 12,000 fans here at Cantrell Stadium.
Watch this game, 12 to 10 Hillgrove upsetting number one ranked McEachern.
Now tonight's game was beamed all over the universe via the Internet.
Jacki Britton was the master of our chat and Jacki is here to talk about it.
You have guys all over the world watching this game.
Mark, the hair on my neck is standing straight out.
This game was absolutely riveting.
People were all over our chat, including some people internationally.
So I'm going to get to in a little bit.
But first we have Grant who was our loyal chatter all night long, and he kept the conversation going quite a bit also.
But we've got Hill Grove's Jordan Pena's uncle CW was chatting with us all the way from Korea, where he was serving for the Army, and he comes home in two months.
He's pretty excited about that.
We loved having him on there talking to us.
And also we had Brett Limmer in law, I'm sorry, is on his way home from France.
I wanted to give a shout out to his girlfriend, who's a cheerleader for, a hillgrove, who says that he wants her to know that he was watching the game all night and that he loves her.
So we just had an unbelievable amount of conversation.
But now let's jump into some of the results from our poll.
That was also pretty overwhelming.
We had 88% of you guys say that you thought the answer was no.
The environment is essential to winning games.
And clearly, I think that helped out a lot tonight.
The energy here was just absolutely incredible.
So thank you guys for participating in our chat and forget that we now have an app for GPB Sports with up to the Minute Scores.
There's an app that sports news rankings and so much more.
And I'm telling you guys, this new app is the perfect way for you to keep up with games like the one you witness tonight and all of your other favorite Georgia high school football teams all season long.
So download the app on your iPhone or your iPad today.
Mark, that wraps it up for me.
Boy, France are all over the place now and we're going.
To have some fan interviews at the end, so we don't wanna miss those.
All right.
We'll get busy, get out there and talk a little slow.
Go get some fans.
Oh, I'm sure we.
Now welcome Jon Nelson in.
We're going to talk scores on the Georgia EMC scoreboard.
And Jon, right off the bat, Blessed Trinity beating Jackson, Atlanta, 21 to 12.
Spencer McManus running back Sam Roberts on a fourth and four from the Jackson 12.
That's your game winner.
And McMann also scored on a one yard sneak.
Jordan Denson adding a four yard run there.
But we saw them earlier in the year with the game against Grady at Grady Stadium.
So beat with head coach Tim McFarland really making some inroads as we hit the midpoint of the season.
I tell you, we're on the Georgia EMC scoreboard, Sandy Creek.
You're out of breath Sandy Creek.
Sandy Creek beats Locust Grove, 42 to nothing.
They score all their points in the first half.
Well, and that's what happens Chip locker the way that things have been going for the fighting patriots down there in they are really rolling right now defending triple champ and they're looking to repeat one more time.
All right.
We've got stars, Mel Blanc and McIntosh by five touchdowns, 30.
Five nothing stars.
Mel, they were in the championship game last year, so five scores there, John Smith, 201 yards, three scores.
Brandon RUF returned a punt, 59 yards.
And he also kind 36 yard strike from Dylan Terrell.
All right.
Allerton, one of your teams you've been watching, they went big 44 zip over Murray County.
Gary Varner has done a fantastic job up there at Altoona.
Rock ranked the top ten in Triple A. Myles Jones.
That's the guy that you need to focus on.
Five carries, 85 yards, two TDs.
He had an early night, but circle that name right there.
You're going be paying a lot more attention to him as we go on, T.J. here and scored twice on five rushes.
Okay.
Matt Pisco over fellowship Christian 3514, the final there.
Kyle Slater, 11 for six, 170 yards, three scores.
Kyle Jackson ran for 94 yards with a rushing score and a receiving score as Dixon cut to Mount Pisgah led 14 seven at.
The break, all Right.
Stockbridge beats Henry County 9 to 7.
And on our Web game tonight, an exciting game.
North Gwinnett beats Norcross, 2922.
And that has a lot of ramification.
That's that's huge when it comes all of this material going on North Gwinnett Norcross.
We saw the region game with Millcreek in Norcross.
So that pretty much throws the region into a complete and total tizzy for the one through four seeds as we keep moving forward.
2922 MAN It's a tight.
All right, tight one here.
212 to 10.
Your final score, Hillgrove Upsetting top ranked McEachern.
Let's go to Jacqui Britten, who has got very happy Hillgrove fans.
Jackie, oh, you are here.
We are some Hillgrove fans.
You guys go ahead.
Let it out.
Let it out here.
Number one, I obviously.
Okay, know what was written on your stomach?
Found out.
Y'all can see this week.
We run it.
It's our city.
We run.
Pete.
We run Powder Springs.
Maybe no drop down.
Close race.
All right.
Talk about KENYON Drake, what you had to say about him, that if he was if he was here right now, what would you say to him?
He's a.
Man.
Play with him for a long time.
He's a guy.
He's a man.
He put the team on his back and I would give him the biggest hug because we all love him.
And he carried us all the way.
We love him to make a can't it?
All right.
Well, you guys, the energy was absolutely incredible here.
There was not an open seat on either side of the field.
And you guys brought that energy tonight.
So thanks for joining us.
On our.
Hillgrove High.
Every.
All right.
Well, is there any other anything else anybody wants to say before we head out?
We'll see them at State, I guess.
All right.
That's what they said.
Back to you guys.
That one wouldn't surprise me if they see them at state.
Tonight's game was a battle of unbeaten.
The battle of region rivals a battle for bragging rights in Cobb County.
Which brings us to the GPB play of the game in the play of the game came late in the fourth quarter.
John Nelson and the game is tied at ten is a big snap.
You've got two choices as a partner to do what you do there.
And we're going to go one more look just to show you how the game goes.
1210 For the deciding score, the punter kicks the ball elsewhere.
Instead of sitting on it and giving Hillgrove a chance to score a touchdown, they score the safety there.
But McEachern had their chances down late, losing 1210 at their own home number one goes down one more time.
You know, there was a lot of turnovers.
This game was just back and forth, back and forth.
You never knew what was going to happen.
And that's, you know, when you got a top ranked team in McEachern and it's a region rivalry game, you're sitting there going, okay, who's going to flinch in this particular situation?
And as it turned out, both teams flinched because you could tell you could sense the nervousness for both of these squads in this game because it had ramifications for region, for the area and for a lot of things down the line.
So was a lot of stuff going on.
And all right.
We bring in our play by play man.
Gil Tyree.
Gil, this was a fantastic finish.
You know what this had this was scripted with everything.
I mean, were upstairs in the booth training Daniel and Coach Hunter and I this had fumbles had safeties recoveries.
I want to give you some numbers 1024 carries a 173 yards rushing on the ground.
And you got to believe this kid was a workhorse.
I look forward if Flowery Branch.
Okay.
Heritage can give.
Us anything like this.
We're in for a great week.
You ain't lying high.
We.
We're on our way.
We will see you next week in Conyers Heritage versus Flowery Branch.
We see you there.
Until then, have a great weekend.
So long, everybody, of why.
