Hoboken cleanup spells the end of abandoned boats

Elsewhere in NJ, abandoned boats are a problem made worse by Superstorm Sandy

For years, Hoboken has been home to a dozen sunken and abandoned boats left in a waterfront cove. Not just an eyesore, they’re also an environmental issue, potentially polluting the water with harmful materials. But now the boats are being removed in a half-million-dollar project, half the cost of which comes from a federal grant. Abandoned boats are also an issue elsewhere in New Jersey.
