Watch out for scammers.
Kentuckians lost nearly $60 million to online scams last year, according to Social Catfish, a company that works to reduce scams.
The company says scammers are getting better at what they do, and it's warning people to be extra careful this time of year.
Here are three of the online scams the company says are popular right now.
There's this sold out toy scam.
If you see a toy that is in high demand for an extremely low price, be suspicious.
Watch out for the Secret Santa scam.
That's when someone uses social media to set up an online gift exchange.
Except the other person never reciprocates.
And finally, there's the grandparent age scam.
The company says scammers will use A.I.
to clone a person's voice.
Based on social media posts.
Then that person's grandparents get a call from someone they think is their grandchild who claims to be in danger and in need of money.
Fast.
