Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipI'm Jevon Taylor, CEO of Green Spaces recently took over two years ago, and the whole vision behind Green spaces is to create a community hub where we support minority owned businesses and local creatives who have historically been, you know, pushed out or placed out of the Five Points or what is now considered RiNo.
It would provide resources for them and give them accessible space to convene and host community events, have their businesses held and also give them resources along the way.
We have coffee shops, we have candles, we have floral arrangement companies, exotic snacks, CBD companies, tattoo shops, plant stores, a co-working space.
It's also an event space.
It's a living, breathing space like everything's on wheels so we can kind of make it whatever it needs to be.
One of my main goals in life is to just build community as well as, you know, retain local talent.
I think in Denver we lose a lot of talent to the California to the DC, to Atlanta's busy bigger markets because the creatives and minority entrepreneurs don't feel supported.
They don't feel like they have a community support system.
And we're looking to build that here.
I think it's important that we take up this space because, I mean, like I said, Five Points has changed so much and you know a lot of developers came to this this district specifically and started just building up all these developments and like pricing everybody out.
And that's not really realistic for a small business.
And without Green Spaces, I don't know if there would be accessible space for us to be here.
And I think a lot of us are getting pushed to the Aurora or less prominent districts where people don't go to shop.
But people are in this area.
They're coming here to, you know, shop for their families or you know go to different like events.
And I think we deserve to be in these spaces as well.
I think you should support Black and brown businesses and just small businesses in general, these dollars that go into these stores are going into other small businesses.
And it's really keeping the economy going.
Like when you go, for example, not to talk about Patagonia or Arcteryx anything like that, but you know that money is going to California, that money is going to Idaho.
You know, there's not staying within the local economy.
I think it's important to support your small businesses because it's like these are the creatives that are, you know, creating a thriving economy for Denver.
And these are people's livelihoods.
The advice I would give to a younger entrepreneur is like, don't box yourself in, you know, dream limitless.
I think this is definitely taught me, like the power of manifestation.
All everything that's in this space right now.
It was one just like the image on my computer and now it's like a real thing and it's a living, breathing space like people are in here buying things businesses are doing good, and it's like people are supporting their businesses.
And it's beautiful to see, like you can see the community growing.
When life gives you a house, move it.
