House Bill 135, sponsored by Representative Josh Bray of Mount Vernon, was defeated and a Senate committee this morning on a split vote of 5 to 5.
That's despite changes to the bill that would have required a licensed driver be behind the wheel of driverless vehicles.
Some concerns raised by senators included uncertainty about how these vehicles could respond to unforeseen circumstances.
Circumstances, what might happen if the vehicle is infected with a computer virus and the potential of loss of jobs.
