It's Delta eight, a psychoactive substance found in the cannabis Sativa plant.
And lawmakers are working to make it harder for young people to get their hands on it.
A House bill forwarded to the Senate today requires the state health cabinet to regulate Delta eight and other hemp derived intoxicating agents.
The hemp industry supports the bill.
House Bill 544 makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 and requires proper labeling and that it be behind the counter.
Delta eight THC products are currently being sold online and in stores.
The measure passed the House 97 to 0 and it now heads to the Senate.
Yesterday, the House sent to the Senate a measure that would legalize paper test strips that can detect fentanyl and drugs.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine, but is 50 to 100 times more potent.
It was involved in nearly three quarters of the overdose deaths in Kentucky in 2021.
Under current Kentucky law, fentanyl test strips are considered illegal drug paraphernalia and those with it face criminal possession charges.
House Bill 353 is considered a harm reduction measure that can help drug users decide to take less of a drug that has fentanyl in it or not at all.
