A local Syrian immigrant tells us — in poetry — what America means to her.

Sara Abou Rashed was born and raised in Damascus, Syria. She immigrated to Ohio with her family in 2013 knowing no English, but quickly started writing poetry in her new language. She recently delivered her poem “I Am America” at the Community Arts Partnership Awards luncheon held in October at the Columbus Convention Center and sponsored by the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
