(upbeat music) - For over 25 years, the Hanukkah Market at the JCC has brought the community together in celebration of the winter holidays.
And here to tell us about this year's event, Andrea Alcabes.
Hi, Andrea.
Thanks so much for being here.
- Oh, thank you for inviting me.
- I always put this one on my calendar.
- Oh, good.
- Let's start with the food.
- Food is very important.
The food this year will be lot potato latkes, of course.
And sufganiyot, which are jelly donuts.
Both are fried to reflect the symbolism of the oil for Hanukkah.
And also brisket sandwiches and bagels from the Bagel Project.
- All right, I know I always go straight to the food.
(chuckling) - Of course.
- Okay, and you've got over 45 vendors.
So what can people buy?
- Well, we're hoping that this might be the first holiday market, and people can start looking at ceramics and jewelry, fresh flowers, alpaca products.
I don't know what that's going to look like.
Chocolate.
Stationary note cards.
Soap.
I don't, everything.
- Everything.
Everything.
- Lots of of stuff.
And some of it will have a Hanukkah theme, but most of it not.
- Okay.
Okay.
And then you've got special things for the kids?
- We do.
We have a bounce house.
We have a dance party with a robot, which is pretty cool and pretty fun.
Storytelling.
Drums Alive.
And there's face painting.
- Oh yeah, kids love it.
- Please bring your children.
- Yeah, and what's the King's English Book Fair?
- Oh, thank you for bringing that up.
(both chuckling) The King's English, every year sponsors our book fair.
And they pick out books that they think will be appealing to the audience, and they allow the JCC to make a small profit off of what's sold.
- Alright, well all sounds great.
And thanks for being here.
- Thank you for having me.
- And if you'd like to know more about the upcoming Hanukkah Market at the JCC, November 3rd from noon to five, go to slcjcc.org.
