Patty Goodson on bass, longtime member of the Gainesville band N Ale Gasso is here, longtime member of Thunderclap and many other groups in Gainesv and Michelle Nunez on drums.
Also in a Gainesville band called Piss Test.
So tell us how this Gainesville supergroup came together.
We started in 2021 during the pa We were all feeling pretty low.
Through mutual friends we got together and started writ that kind of fit the attitude of And we all got along really wel and thought we wrote some good s so we decided to stick with it.
I know, I've seen you guys a couple of times.
Did you expect it to, like, become a full time, you know, second project for the rest of you?
I did.
I really enjoy writing songs and just having Ale and Michelle co the way they did and make them something like bette than I could ever think they cou super awesome so, deciding to st it was a no-brainer for me.
So besides the pandemic, what else are some of the influe for Ill Star?
Just a lot of hard personal things that we all go through and seeing how society is changing for the good and the But we like mostly writ about the negative and bad stuff It's a good way to kind of chan that angst into something produc Well, let's hear one more.

So Gainesville music scene many, many years, 40 years though a punk rock haven.
What is i about Gainesville and aggressive Because the weather's so miserab it makes everyone angry and you got to get it out someho But it's lovely outside.

Definitely.
Its hard to speak for everyone but for me, I grew up in Coco, which had a really great music c so Green Goblin Project and we'll feel on some way some of my friends and hometown that really helped me start.
Obviousl like Minor Threat, Bad Brains, M Dag Nasty we like the Dischord Records stu What about you, Ale?
Well, you know, my influence are very heavy and they're all f And it would be more like Floor and Torch and Cavity.
And those are all the sludge met Struggle?

The name of the band, where did Ill Star come from?
Ale actually came up with it.
Ill Star is a nautical term, meaning bad luck.
Like if you've ever heard the te an ill starred captain.
So we just took our really positive attitudes and took a positive nam and is two positives make a nega I don't know.
