AND I SAY THIS KNOWING FULL WELL THEY'RE REALLY JUST HISTORY'S LARGEST HEADSTONES.
WHICH HAS ME THINKING ABOUT AMERICANS TODAY.
BECAUSE IF YOU WATCH HOW WE BEHAVE DURING LIFE, IT'S PRETTY CLEAR WE'RE NOT SUPER FOCUSED ON HUMILITY.
BUT IN DEATH WE'RE KIND OF QUIET, WHICH IS SURPRISING.
IF YOU LOOK AT OUR TECHNOLOGY, LOOK AT OUR RESOURCES, IF WE WANTED, THIS COULD BE THE GOLDEN AGE OF OVERBLOWN MONUMENTS.
WE COULD BE 3D PRINTING OUR OWN FACES AT 2,000 TIMES THEIR ORIGINAL SIZE.
WE COULD BE SETTING UP VIDEO MONITORS AND PLAYING OUR BEST HOME VIDEOS IN A NEVER-ENDING LOOP.
WE COULD BE ADDING L.E.D.
LIGHTING, AROMATHERAPY, BIOLUMINESCENT REFLECTING POOLS, THE PHARAOHS THEMSELVES WOULD BE WRACKED WITH ENVY.
BUT WE'RE NOT, WE'RE NOT DOING ANY OF IT.
MOST OF US ARE SIMPLY TURNING OURSELVES INTO A FEW POUNDS OF ASHES THAT END UP IN SOME RELATIVE'S CLOSET AND IF YOU ASK ME THAT'S A RATHER MODEST FINISH TO A LIFESTYLE THAT WASN'T ALWAYS MARKED BY MODESTY.
I GUESS I'M WONDERING IF MAYBE AMERICANS ARE PERFORMERS AT HEART.
YES, WE FOCUS ON THE AUDIENCE AS LONG S WE HAVE IT BUT WE ALSO KNOW THERE'S NOT MUCH POINT IN SAVING THE COSTUMES ONCE THE LIGHTS GO OUT.
OR MAYBE IT'S JUST THAT EVERY TREND IS CYCLICAL AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL BE MOUNTING THEIR ENORMOUS FACES ON THE PYRAMIDS.
YOU GOT TO ADMIT, THAT WOULD LOOK PRETTY COOL ON
