Providing Support for PBS.org
Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipImpact is an organization that helps people live their best lives essentially.
So we provide support professionals for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
They offer all kinds of supports to our clients based off of the needs of the individual.
Our support professionals do anything from taking our customers grocery shopping, even just helping them with the daily functions of life.
My job entails a little bit of everything.
It depends upon my client's level of disability.
We have helped Rachel become independent.
She needs guidance in order to be successful at navigating the community and basically the world on her own.
A lot of my responsibility is ensuring that she's in good health and she has fun.
Impact's been helping me two and a half years.
Sherry, she's my direct support person.
She takes me places like food shopping, clothes shopping.
We go out to dinner sometimes or out to lunch.
We just enjoy each other's company.
They help me with the following activities like bowling, driving tests, independency, to partner my day with someone who I can trust and bond with and hang out with.
Impact's organization touches lives in ways that help them tremendously.
It takes a lot of pressure off of families.
So having an individual come in and help with the day to day supports, you know, alleviates some of the stress off of the parents, just allows for a better quality of life.
So I think it's just awesome that we can come alongside people and help facilitate some of the things that they wanna do to make their lives better.
