Another ceremony we witnessed today was the inaugural Prelude Music was performed by the 202nd Army band with the Kentucky National Guard along with the Kentucky State University Concert Choir.

Led all three task guard.

High finishing Sky Railways sound.

Oh, they say, said their not done.

The prelude took us right into the swearing in ceremony for the public.

The governor senior adviser Rocky Adkins, played the role as emcee.

One of the people he introduced was the 2023 24 Kentucky Poet laureate and Whitley County native Silas House, who read a poem written just for this occasion.

Who cares?

When the darkest scars move in?

I remind myself that most people are good.

I think of schoolteachers who say You matter, bus drivers who are glad to see us each morning lunch ladies laughing and as they ladle out our food, all those who stand up for what is right.

There are so many ways to change the world.

The mechanic and minor mail carrier, cashiers and clerks, singers, farmers and truck drivers.

I can see them.

I imagine their thoughts, shoulders and tired legs.

I thank them for carrying me, even when I don't know.

We carry each other from pound mountain to the penny rail pass to look poplars and golden rods from city streets, the hollow roads from the white Ohio to the quickening creeks of the gorge.

We go forward together.
