Jazz Day is dedicated to peace, tolerance, and dialogue, while offering hope and healing amid these extraordinarily turbulent times.

It's such a great honor to be back at the United Nations where we held our very first Global All-Star Concert in 2012.

We've assembled a cast of massive musicians from all corners of the globe who are united in the purpose of demonstrating that jazz crosses all borders, links all generations and illuminates cooperation and compassion for all.

- International Jazz Day is a great thing.

It's a day to celebrate jazz all over the planet.

- Really just to be part of the community to convene again, makes you think about, outside of yourself and to express love and togetherness and it just feels good to get back at it.

- And that's what it's all about, bringing people together.

You know, just everything that we've been going through the past couple years, now it's time to come together.

- Jazz, in particular, just has a way of crossing borders.

We don't have the same culture, we don't have the same language, but we have the same emotions and I feel what you're doing.

- We may have a whole lot of differences but this music is the one thing that really binds us all together.

And jazz has always been about looking forward.

And we're also celebrating much more than a musical art.

We are celebrating its universal and humanistic values.

The values that are the very heart of jazz.

I grew up in Western Australia, in Perth, one of the most isolated cities in the world.

Yet it was a music that really spoke to me.

It's amazing, and so gratifying that billions of people from over 190 countries on all continents have participated in Jazz Day and recognize that April 30th is a universal force for peace, dialogue, and unity.
