He's joining us to tell us about Til You Scream”.
Kyle, thank you for joining us.
Thank you for having me.
Happy to have you here.
Now, I'm very curious.
Tell us about “Laugh Til You Scream”.
What is this?
This is a live event that my fak brother and I are putting on to bring bo thrilling movies and local stan from the Twin Cities up to Dulut We'd like to bring i to more places around the state and try to get peopl to go back to the movie theater because there has been a declin over the past ten years, but spe because of the pandemic and then because of the work stoppage la that was necessary and important So it's combining film with standup comedy.
That's correct.
So it's like a live show, but also a screening.
It's a live show with a screening component.
And then you will be able to ask questions of the filmmake because they will be there and the standups will host the q that the audience has.
So where does the scream come in The movies that we're going to b showing in Duluth are specifica thrilling their horror movies.
I was making movies, horror movi with my fake brothers most recently because from unkno people are more willing to accept horror, documentary an Okay.
So are these, like, local horror We made them in around the Twin you made them.
And your fake brothers.
And who are your fake brothers?
We call ourselves the “Farx Bro because we're farcically brother And it worked for the movi baiters podcasts we have on Spot cool.
So maybe you could share about s the films that you've created t would be able to see here in Dul Sure.
So it's going to be three shorts that we specifically made for a festival down in the Twin Cities called Z Fest.
And one is about a puppet that haunts a young girl.
One is about a woma who just moved into a new house and has is hearing bumps in the And another is about difficultie with pregnancy.
But the main feature will be my Molly, which Nick Michael.
I call him Nick Farx came up wit when he was a young boy and it's kind of a female Freddy okay.
And so then you're highlighting these films, showing the films, having a scre and then who are the comics.
To Pan Sharma and Chri the Danny They are well to Penn.
I met up here in Duluth, which is why we're having the e in Duluth, because I was at Cata two years ago, and he was at Ca as a screenwriter who also does We realized we were around the s We both lived in the Twin Cities so we started working on film projects together.
Specifically, we're here in Dul this week to do a pitch for one show ideas.
cool.
So why bring together horror and I specifically believe that the to make people laugh and make people feel thrills or or scares are similar.
It's about tension.
Tension, release of tension.
Because in a joke you have the s and then the release of the punchline in scary movies What was that?
What was that?
And then the score, you know, g something to be frightened about So they kind of go hand in hand similar.
Yes.
And I'm hoping that people laugh will help loosen them up and have a good time when they'r the thrilling movies.
We're also going to do thi similar event in Woodbury on the the Sunday before the Friday we this event to practice it.
And because we have a friend wh we also met up here at Catalyst Canoes the streets.
So we're going to be showing canoes history with a wedding d pilot the Sunday before we do th in Duluth, in Woodbury which is a suburb of Saint Paul.
Wow.
So you're going to a busy w there.
A busy week, Yeah.
My wife already signed off on it This is not how she's finding ou And that's good to know.
So what do you hope the audience takes away from laugh till you scream?
I it's going to be a weird compa but I hope that it reminds them of going to chur because I know, you know, we're in rural parts of the coun and people go to church, even though that's declining too I like people having a shared s of community when they go to the That' what I liked about going to the I was talking to you before we s that I'm from the U.P.
of Michigan, so it's kind of is there, even though it's very bea Just like Duluth, movie offered a chance to explore new understand new cultures, and em with people I would never meet.
So how can people check out left You scream it.
We're selling ticket for on the West Theater's websit I could hold up the poster here.
There's poster going up around town with QR cod You could scan that and should t right to the ticket link.
October 11th.
Octobe 11th at 9 p.m. at the West Theat I want to quick mention that one of the co-directors and production designer for many of the shorts release after Wind designed that poster.
Give credit where credits due.
Got to.
So once you finish up, “Laugh Til You Scream”.
Do you have any other projects on the horizon?
It sounds like you're very conne with the local film industry.
Yes, I'm still working on writi with friends and fake brothers, and then we would like to bring Til You Scream” to different parts of Minnesota.
So if you're seeing thi and you're in Eau Claire or Roch or any part of Minnesot and you have an independent thea or think that you could fil an independent theater, we would bring our show to you with stan who are cutting their teeth on t Cities standup scene which is there's open mic nights and regular shows in the Twin Ci every night.
Acme Comedy is there.
And yeah.
Yeah it's a really cool combination o that you've put togethe and then also supporting local c who are trying to make a name for themselves.
Again, it's I just think that p a reason to go out to the movie So standups make it a live event If you look at macroeconomics live events have increased in po since the pandemic and movie theater attendance has waned.
The average moviegoer goes to t a year, so please make one of th the two movies you go to.
Kyle, thank you so much for join and good luck.
Thank you for having me.
