Like being afraid and being left out and how it feels when everybody laughs at you.
The first story is called It Hurts to Be Left Out.
Clyde!
Do you know the answer?
I don't even know the question.
Clyde Frog I ask you if you are having any trouble with your work.
No, ma'am.
Well, that's good.
I didn't know we had any work.
Clyde, Max.
It's not nice to laugh at Clyde.
Yes ma'am.
Susie, how many states are there in the United States?
The United States is made up of 50 states.
Alaska is the largest and Rhode Island is the smallest.
Very good, Susie.
Thank you.
Mrs. Mulch.
How does she know all that stuff?
It's easy for me.
Mrs. Mulch.
I have a question.
Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that Clyde, go right ahead.
Is it time for recess yet?
Yes, it is.
Good.
I can't wait to play volleyball.
I'm great at volleyball.
I get first choice today, max.
Oh, all right.
I choose Roger.
I choose Linda Brewster, Howard, Ruth, Edgar, Chris.
Oh, there's nobody left but Clyde.
So I guess I'm stuck with him.
Forget it.
If no one wants me on their team, I won't play.
I'm not going to force myself on anyone.
Come on and play Clyde.
No.
Who cares?
He's a terrible volleyball player anyway.
He's not terrible.
Why didn't you choose him then?
Well, I don't know.
Well, I'm glad that's over.
Still feeling sorry for yourself, Clyde?
Max.
Stop that.
When somebody feels bad, they certainly don't need somebody else making them feel worse.
Do you feel better now, Clyde?
Yeah, I guess, but I really felt left out like nobody wanted me.
Nobody liked me.
What can you do, Mrs. Mulch when something like that happens?
Well, you can play something else or you can watch, but I wanted to play.
I know, and honestly, there's nothing as much fun as playing, so when you get left out of something or don't get invited somewhere, you just have to try to get over it as soon as you can.
I really felt bad.
I know nobody likes to get left out and everybody feels bad when they are.
On with the show.
Let's watch What's So Funny.
Hit it Vetch!
Hello, Clyde.
Hi, mom.
Did you have a nice day at school?
No.
Oh.
I brought you a funny book.
I'm not in the mood for anything funny.
They've been laughing at me all day.
Who's been laughing at my Clyde?
Everybody.
Oh, will you sit right there and tell mama all about it and then I'll fit you a nice snack to cheer you up?
Well, this morning before school even started.
Hi Brewster.
Hi Clyde.
Hi Max.
Hi Clyde.
I wonder what our homework was.
Oh, that was a funny.
That hurt.
That really wasn't very funny.
Max.
Well, at least I don't have breakfast.
Glop all over my shirt, but Brewster's breakfast glop was nothing compared to mine.
I'll take this and this looks good and I wonder what that is.
Hmm?
Let Oh, then in class, Grizz grizz, grizzly bears can be dang, dang dang.
DANGEROUS When school was out, I thought it was all over, but that you have had a rough day.
But I made it through Now for that snack.
What is it?
Pepperoni, bologna.
Macaroni casserole.
Yuck!
It's good for you, Clyde.
I burned it!
and here I am.
Weren't you mad when you burned your casserole mom?
Pretty mad son.
It was sort of funny though.
All that burned up.
Pepperoni, bologna.
Macaroni.
Casserole.
Ooh, yuck.
I felt better about it when I laughed.
It was funny.
Sometimes it's hard to laugh at yourself, especially when you're really hurt or embarrassed.
Like when you pull the chair out from under me, max, that really wasn't funny.
Was it Max?
No.
I guess not.
Especially when you could have hurt.
My Clyde did hurt my Clyde.
I did feel sort of stupid when no one laughed.
Is that why you picked on me, max?
Yeah.
I did it to get the attention off of me.
It's no fun when everybody's looking at you because you've done something wrong.
You are not kidding Ms. Frog.
On with the show.
Let's watch Being Scared.
Hit it Fetch!
Chicken!
I'm not chicken.
Climb on up here then I did.
But you are big.
It's too high for me to reach.
Chicken!
I've got a yellow belly chicken for a little brother.
Chicken.
I'm not chicken.
Am I?
I was scared to climb that tree, but I couldn't reach the limbs.
Max could.
He's big, but still I was scared.
Scared.
I fall scared.
I couldn't do it.
Am I chicken?
Andy...Max time for supper!
You are not very hungry tonight, are you, Andy?
Not very.
Do you feel bad?
He feels like a chicken.
Chicken?
What does that mean?
He was afraid to climb the big oak tree in the park.
Well, that's a hard tree to climb.
I climbed it.
And when Andy is as big as you, he'll climb it too.
He was scared.
Sometimes being afraid of something that can hurt you shows you have good sense, Max.
I'm never afraid.
You don't have any good sense either.
Oh yeah.
Stop it both of you.
And eat your supper.
Eat Andy.
Being afraid is nothing to be ashamed of.
Everybody's afraid sometimes.
Everybody, now.
That's my good boys.
No, no, no, no Help.
Please.
It's all right, Andy.
It was just a nightmare.
Oh, I'm sorry.
I woke you up.
It's all right.
There really might have been something there.
It was dark.
I was scared.
The dark really can be scary.
Mommy.
Mommy.
Help?
It's all right, Max.
It's all right.
Oh, a nightmare.
I was scared.
I thought you were never scared.
Everybody's afraid sometimes, Andy.
Everybody.
Even Clyde famous frog gets scared sometime.
Thought you were never scared.
Max.
Don't tease your brother Andy.
It's hard for him to admit things like that.
Yeah, especially on tv.
Talk about somebody else.
Let's talk about me.
One time I was scared to play football with the big kids from the sixth grade.
And one time I chickened out from a fight with Max.
Remember?
Yeah.
Max.
You chickened out from a fight with cousin Bertram.
I did not.
You did too.
Everybody chickens out sometimes.
Don't worry about it.
Well, I'd like to thank all my guests and also thank these nice people who helped me put on the Clyde Frog Show.
Hit it, Fetch!
