This book is That Pesky Pickle Gets New Glasses.
On Tuesday that Pesky Pickle found out that he needed new glasses.
His mama asked if he needed help choosing them.
Help, oh no, not me.
I know everything there is to know about glasses.
On Wednesday, that Pesky Pickle found out that picking new glasses was not as easy as he thought.
The eyeglasses lady was lovely.
Young man, selecting new glasses is a very important job.
She understood that Pesky Pickle was an expert at this sort of thing.
I think I would like something breathtaking and exciting, he declared.
The eyeglass's lady nodded and handed him a pair of cheetah print glasses.
How about these?
That Pesky Pickle slipped on the new pair and holy cannoli.
Suddenly he was in a jungle and he felt funny.
He had spots.
He had a tail.
He had ears that could hear everything.
That Pesky Pickle knew all about cheetahs.
I am one fast pickle, he exclaimed.
That Pesky Pickle leaped up and took off at top cheetah speed.
He ran so fast, he almost lost his glasses.
Without any warning, he suddenly got burning hot and couldn't breathe.
He stopped running and collapsed.
He ripped off his glasses and handed them back.
Um, I think I want something a little slower.
The eyeglasses lady held out a new pair.
Try these on.
That Pesky Pickle closed his eyes and when he opened them he was crouched over at a traffic light.
His back hurt and he had a cane.
Oh my stars, he stared at his long white beard.
The light turned green and people started rushing by.
That Pesky Pickle tried to cross the street but he could barely walk.
All of a sudden he spied a unicycle careening towards him.
He hollered so loud his dentures fell out.
That Pesky Pickle tore the glasses off and set them on the table.
These are too old for me, he whispered.
How about these?
Pesky Pickle was afraid to open his eyes.
Out of the blue, someone yelled, hut and his eyes flew open.
He was holding a football.
Run, his teammates screamed.
He grinned, now this was his specialty.
He knew all about running and run he did.
All the way to the wrong end of the field.
Apparently that poor Pesky Pickle didn't know much about football.
He tossed his glasses on the counter.
He was so upset, he was wheezing.
This is not working, he choked.
The eyeglasses lady was thoughtful.
You know, sometimes we find out that our favorite things can't be replaced.
That Pesky Pickle had an unexpected, spur of the moment, brilliant idea.
The kind that makes your bow tie spin.
I have decided that I would like an updated pair of my own glasses, please.
When he got home, that Pesky Pickle's mama asked what kind of glasses he picked out.
I decided to stick with my own special look, he declared.
I always loved you best, just the way you are, she whispered.
The end.
