(gentle music) The annual new year Crosscut Elway poll shows that Washington voters are very concerned about the economy.
For the first time since 2014, the economy at 32% tops the list of issues that voters want the legislature to address in the present session.
Last year, COVID was number one at 52%.
This year it came in second at 23%.
Homelessness topped the list in 2020, but for 2022, just 21% of voters thought it was most important.
The last three issues were government at 17%, taxes at 13% and 12% of respondents think public safety should be the first priority.
400 registered voters across Washington were polled.
Those who named the economy as a top concern specifically mentioned inflation, employment rates and housing prices.
