(upbeat music) "Washington salmon are teetering on the blink of extinction."
That's a quote.
it's from a new report called "State of Salmon in Watersheds" from the Governor's Salmon Recovery Office.
(upbeat music) Courtney Flatt of Northwest Public Broadcasting reports that officials say, "Time is running out for the Northwest iconic fish because of warming waters and degrading habitat."
Funding for habitat restoration has been short $4 billion over the past decade.
The report says salmon recovery currently receives about 22% of what's needed to get the job done.
(upbeat music) The biggest pollutant for salmon is stormwater runoff containing farm fertilizers and vehicle pollution.
Fish passage is another big challenge.
In one bright spot, officials point to the fact that no new salmon specifies have been added to the endangered species list since 2007.
