(bright music) Former Seattle mayoral candidate, Colleen Echohawk is joining Eighth Generation as its CEO.
The Seattle-based indigenous art and design brand is owned by the Snoqualmie Tribe.
Echohawk was previously the executive director at the Chief Seattle club.
She has long worked on combating homelessness and is a member of the Kithehaki Band of the Pawnee Nation and the Upper Athabascan people of Mentasta Lake.
Echohawk will officially start on February 1st, but she's already dreaming big.
She hopes Eighth Generation will become as well known as Target and Nordstrom.
The brand was founded by Louie Gong in 2008.
Gong charted a new path for native artists by making sure the company's designs were made by inspired natives rather than native inspired.
