Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- My name is Sophie Spindler, I'm a senior at Niskayuna High School, and I'm a vocalist.
(Sophia singing in Spanish) I've been singing since I was young, and I really think that the community is very supportive and I love being able to express different stories through my voice.
(Sophia singing in Spanish) I performed "Sin tu amor" by Miguel Sandoval, and I would describe it as a very fiery and passionate Spanish piece.
It is about a person singing to someone they love, and the message is that without their love, life would be meaningless.
I study Spanish in school, so the lyrics were pretty easy to learn to pronounce, but it was very fun delving into the meaning of the song.
(Sophia singing in Spanish) I would say the 16th notes at the end of the phrases are very challenging to keep them in line and articulate them.
(Sophia singing in Spanish) I was nominated by my choir teacher and voice teacher, Mrs. Catalano.
I would like to thank Mrs. Catalano for her support and for being a wonderful teacher, and I would like to thank my parents for their endless support.
(Sophia singing in Spanish) I plan to keep music in my life somehow.
I would like to maybe minor in music or participate in choir in college.
