Mixed reactions to $973M budget for Jersey City’s schools

Mayor Steve Fulop says avenues other than increased property taxes should be explored

Reactions have been mixed to the $973 million budget recently approved by Jersey City's school board. Acting Superintendent Norma Fernandez says the money will help fix a number of issues, including major repairs to school facilities. The budget, up $159 million from last year, comes as the city is expected to lose more than $68 million in K-12 state aid.
