Providing Support for PBS.org
Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWe provided around $31,000 in housing assistance.
We spent 15 grand on grocery assistance.
$8,000 in utility payments like gas, electric, water, around like $1,900 helping people, repairing their vehicles.
Yeah.
So our total expenses was around $70,000 in 2025.
I'm Jocelyn Ciarlone and I live in Anchorage, Alaska.
MANA is the Mutual Aid Network of Anchorage.
We as, like a group of volunteers, try to meet people's basic needs, do the best that we can to kind of, like, build a human powered safety net.
Jocelyn is a really compassionate, empathetic, person.
Her main role is working in the finance team.
She takes care of the budget and, does reports quarterly for our fiscal sponsor.
she is the one that understands the, places that people are coming from in our community, the the suffering that people are experiencing.
I mostly came from a background in case management.
But more specifically, like case management relating to eviction prevention.
notification come through today I was like interfacing with the community a lot, like through the lens of working in legal services the legal system moves very slowly.
So it's definitely agonizing.
And I was just looking for, like, a different way to, be in service of my community.
That was like, not through my job, free store is like, an environment where people can come and maybe get something tangible that they need, To.
Help you, like, fill your pantry if it's, like, looking a little low maybe you're, like, searching for somebody to help you, like, fix your car.
I feel like, a strong community is one that, can show up for each other and, like, not just times of crisis.
My advice is to be vulnerable.
And to, like, push through that, like uncomfortable feeling of, like maybe showing up to something by yourself, you're knowledge of anything that you have is very necessary.
