The state budget committee passed funding measures for healthcare and transportation, with both parties predictably divided. Weighing in on the funding dispute are Rep. John Nygren and Sen. LaTonya Johnson. Johnson says the expansion of Medicaid “is not a welfare program,” as it supports those who work. Nygren says “there's no such thing as free money,” and that taxpayers would be burdened.
