You're just, kind of, going, 'Ah, what do you think?'

after every song."

And he was like, "Nobody is gonna do this for you.

Like, you have to believe in it.

What's gonna make you want to run it into their hands?"

And so, at that moment I texted Meegan and Allie, and I just had that in my mind.

I was like, "Maybe this could be a thing."

And then, when we started singing it was like, "Oh, wow.

It's my two sisters and I, and you know it started out focused--started out--it started out with a guitar, an acoustic guitar and the three voices and just kind of lilting.

And as we've gone on, we really were inspired by playing with a band, and so it's gotten a lot more rock 'n' roll.

It's like everybody is--you know what's the--" ♪ There are stars ♪ Like everything is like right there, and so we specifically took "Revolving Door," and at first, and in a lot of the songs you'll hear the main vocal is kinda forward, and then the harmonies support it.

But on "Revolving Door" we were like, "Okay, we want the Eagles harmonies here," and like brought both of the harmonies to kinda be up a little bit closer to the melody so it would feel a little bit more warm and vintage-sounding.

And also to support her 'cause it's a really vulnerable song, so it makes you feel like we're together in it.

Promoters don't respond to that.

They're like, "Oh, my friend recommended this," or "This agent said this," or whatever, and so we were playing in pizza joints for $100 and beer.

And like it was fun, and we earned our stripes, because we'd play for three hours.

We'd do covers, but then it was the moment that we got invited onto an actual bill in a venue, and we were in the green room, and I remember looking around.

It was in Seattle at The Crocodile, and I was looking around at all these people who I'd admired in the Seattle scene, and I was like "Whoa!

We are here.

We're in this green room right now."

And that was the first moment I felt like we were a band.

We're gonna do a song called "Room for You," and it's about the moment that I held my best friend's baby in my arms, and it just felt so insane to be holding this creature who--this little monster so helpless in my arms.

And it occurred to me in that moment that we all got here like that.

When I look out on a crowd of everybody like you, it's just crazy to imagine that we all got here like that.

When I think about it I'm like it's weird, because I don't remember asking to come here.

[laughing] I wasn't like, "Yeah, 2019 looks fun and peaceful."

But you know what?

We did get here, and we're hard on ourselves, but I think we're all making the most of it, so this song is for--this song is for little helpless floppy baby Malcolm and also for all of the rest of us who got here the same way, so it's dedicated to you.
