A Cook County jury awarded $363 million in damages from Sterigenics in Willowbrook.

Sterigenics’ Willowbrook facility was closed in 2019, months after an EPA report discovered people living within 1.5 miles of the plant were ten times more likely to develop cancer. The plaintiff in this case, Sue Kamuda, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007.
